That one thing from the other day
A thousand years ago the Universe as we knew it came to an end...
Mankind had spread throughout the entire galaxy and made homes on nearly every world, only to find that to spread further they needed even more power than their galactic empire could muster. So one world or another discovered another dimension and as they studied it they wound up accidentally destroying it trying to send something over, what they didn't know was that this was the dimension called Mythos, the realm where all the gods, monsters, and heroes of our myths and legends dwelt, one of the many immaterial realms of thought layered throughout our reality. The destruction of the layer threw the universe out of balance and the immaterial realms of thought began to bleed into reality. Physics changed, terrible entities beyond comprehension began to wreak havoc across the galaxy. suddenly mankind found itself as helpless as a fish out of water, and over 99.9% of the galactic empire was lost to the nightmares that now filled the vastness of space. Hope seemed lost, but it found Humanity in a strange form. some children in the few remaining worlds of humanity began to be born with odd markings and epic destinies.
These children were the legends, physical manifestations of the monsters and gods that occupied the destroyed realm of Mythos. The remaining world of man were quick to act and began to pour vast resources into these Legends, teaching them to harness the remarkable powers they possessed, and teaching them to fight. With their power mankind managed to repel the Horrors of the now fallen galaxy. With the survival of humanity solely dependent upon them the legends became the leaders of mankind, loved and respected by the vast majority. For a thousand years the legends have protected humanity, but their numbers continued to grow at an incredible pace and the risk of civil war began to rise as opinions of the two different types of legend began to shift. The Divine legends, those who drew power from gods and heroes, began to be regarded as the good and just Legends. While the dark legends, those who gained power from the monsters and demons, began to be regarded as evil and corrupted by the darkness. in order to prevent growing tensions the Ruling Legends created the Mythos Academy where they would train both kinds of Legend to grow in peace and learn to depend on one another.
The Mythos Academy is a floating city like structure entirely filled with Automated staff and structures, teleporters allow access to the smaller islands which contain dormitories and other structures. each of the students will be split into two teams and must work together to overwhelm the other team in a year long "war" with each course being a "battle". Each student must complete four years of these "War" training sessions to graduate and be able to join the Legendary Army, which will be launching their next outward fleets to try and retake old human planets, already man has reclaimed 12 worlds and those who manage to do so are heralded as heroes. the majority or earths culture revolves around the effort to reclaim the human worlds, as does mankinds very survival, as even with the most advanced and efficient methods of generating energy, resources are not infinite and expansion is required for survival. due to this students at this academy are held in a very high regard and looked at like celebrities or professional athletes. as per agreements made with the earths governments, agencies and media have access to the Mythos academy meaning the place is crawling with government officials, paparazzi and advertising agents looking to score commercial deals and endorsements with the young legends. students must endure rigorous trials, dodge paparazzi if they want privacy, watch out for secret agents who are on the look out for them to make a mistake, all while learning to master their abilities so that they can pursue their destiny among the stars.

Im sure your wondering how the powers and such works in this world, after all its the powers of the legends that has kept humanity alive for the past thousand years. Well each legend is born with an odd birthmark representing a mythological god or monster from ancient humanities history. shortly after their birth ,usually withing the first three days or so, an odd form of energy exudes from the odd birthmark and begins to surround the child. this energy will eventually condence into three things, a weapon, a small item of some kind, and a living creature. The Weapon, The Focus, and the Familiar. afterwards their birthmark will darken becoming more like a tattoo and nothing can remove it, this represents the Seal. The Weapon, The Focus, The Familiar, and The Seal are all different stages of power from the mythological being the Legend represents. So say someone was say the Legend of Ares. Their Weapon might be a spear with some kind of power, Their familiar would be a boar the patron animal of ares also possessing some kind of power, their focus would be a medallion, ring, or some other trinket again with its own ability. finally they would have a tattoo of a boars hear with spears or something which would be their seal. As they master their powers they begin to be able to reabsorb the energy from these things gaining more and more power, first the focus will be absorbed and will vanish, then the weapon, then the familiar, and finally the seal. each item absorbed grants the Legend unlimited access to that ability and drastically amplifies their own power until finally the seal is absorbed and the full power of that legend is realized. that said each of these fusions are temporary and the legends can always unfuse to both power down and bring back the objects and familiar.
now i know what your thinking, someone can just pick zeus or odin and they will be more powerful than everyone else right so wheres the competition? wrong! When the realm of mythos was destroyed the domains of the gods and powers of the monster were all merged into one source which shattered into the different shards of legend people are born with. in other words the monsters and gods are actually roughly even in overall power, each just has different abilities associated with what they are. So at their maximum potential the Cerberus legend will be just as powerful as the Ra Legend in overall power, they will just have different abilities. thats not to say some abilities wont be more effective against others, for example the god of the forest may struggle against the god of fire, who may in turn struggle against the sea god. no one is invincible and none are going to be god mode regardless of if you get your power from a god or not. The two teams for this years "War" will be Team Underworld, and Team Paradise.
Each Rper can make as many characters as they can handle. you can choose between 1st years, 2nd years, 3rd years, and 4th years. only one fourth year allowed per Rper. a first year has only begun to master their power and thus can only fuse with their Focus trinket to unlock the base powers of their Legend. 2nd years can fuse with their focus trinket and then also fuse with their weapon or at least are learning how to do so, gaining an order of magnitude more power. third years learn the hard process of fusing with their familiars in addition to the other two and grow another order or magnitude stronger. finally the fourth years were growing to master the final process of merging with all their power manifestations and breaking the seal revealing the true godlike power of their Legend. as such when the teams are divided the fourth years make up the leadership of their respective teams, with the 3rd years being lieutenants, and the 2nd years small team leaders. interestingly enough it gets harder and harder to progress and each year has progressively less students in it, as some quit, some are kicked out, and others simply don't survive the trials. Unfortunately the risk of a rouge Legend is too high for the school to be optional and many first years were taken without consent.
