Gravitational Force

Dark Lord of Creativity
Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, whoever you were with, that is no longer the case. You're standing on a beach under an alien sky in an alien place, a green sun shining in the sky and silver sand beneath your feet. The waters around you shimmer and hiss and the smell of acid invades your nostrils as you cough and make your way up from the shore to escape the fumes. Further ahead you can see a forest of metallic trees from which glowing crystal orbs hang.

Looking around you you can see other people, all looking as confused as you are. You suddenly feel a chill, and looking up you see a massive shadow blotting out half the sun. In the shifting darkness in front of you a figure appears, seemingly unconcerned by your distress. Their body is obscured by the robes and mask they wear but you can sense the wrongness radiating from them. They spread their arms wide as they address the crowd.

1594656591707.png

"Welcome one, welcome all! Welcome to all of you who now have the opportunity to seize a great destiny in the Ascension Game! Fear not for your safety and don't worry, for I'm here to explain what's going on! Each of you has been chosen from your worlds for a chance many would kill for and you will likely need to kill to keep. Claim victory in this challenge with the powers you will receive and rewards beyond your wildest dreams will be yours! Rejoice, for ahead of you lies the most important event you've yet experienced in your lives!"

Clapping their hands together, they look around expectantly.

One young man steps forwards. "What's going on?! Where are we? Who the Hell are you?! Send us back NOW!!!" He raises his hands to threaten the target of his anger.

The figure turns to him and the crowd instinctively draws away from the questioner as if somehow knowing what's going to happen. The figure cocks their head beneath their hood.
"Didn't I just finish explaining? You're here because you were chosen. Where 'Here' is and 'Who' I am is irrelevant to that. Well except for me being authorized to do THIS to you if you ask stupid questions or otherwise prove yourselves in need of correction:"

A tentacle ending in a syringe-like protuberance shoots out from beneath the figure's cloak and plunges into the man's neck. His eyes widen as it injects something into him and he collapses to the ground twitching in paroxysms of laughter as his face contorts into a forced rictus grin. The figure turns back to the crowd and you feel your bodies freeze and find yourselves unable to do anything but listen as the figure continues speaking.

"He'll be fine within an hour. Now since I'm all about fair play and sporting chances, here's some examples of good questions: 'What's the event?' 'What powers will we get?' 'Is there food and medication?' 'What do we get for winning the event?' That sort of thing. I won't be there in the near future but you will want to also consider questions such as 'What is that monster and how do I stop it eating my face?' 'How do we maintain group solidarity in the face of perverse incentives, moral hazards, and the various nefarious individuals among us' and 'Would death be preferable to my current situation?'"

They pause and shrug.

"The answer to that last one is 'No' by the way, so think positive and focus on surviving, because the name of this Game is 'Survive on this island of deadly dangers and untrustworthy strangers for long enough to figure out and fulfill the win condition.' It's a bit of a mouthful, but I like how it sums it all up. For the rest of the relevant details, let's see: you'll have to wait and see what powers you get, there are supply caches of necessary goods and materials scattered all over the island, and you'll have to win to see what the prize is. Personally I'd view surviving what you're about to go to through as your main concern, but don't let me stop you from hoping. Also please keep in mind that in the case of emergency your fellow survivors can double as food! Let's see, I think that wraps it all up. Now don't forget to have fun and I hope you enjoy your time here! Ohandyou'realsonottheonlyonestransportedheresowatchoutforotherworldlybeingsbye!"

They vanish in a burst of shadows as you find yourselves able to move again. But before you can do anything you find yourselves falling to the ground in a clearing in the forest. It seems like the group you were in has been split into smaller groups and scattered around the island. As you pick yourselves up you get one final surprise as you feel your bodies change.

(Insert your characters developing your mutations here. Feel free to be creative when describing the change as it happens. Your characters have a few minutes to figure things out.)

After managing to recover from your bodies mutating you see that you're not alone in the clearing. The announcer is there and next to them stands a monster.
1594661115235.png

In front of the monster is a table with two buttons on it, one green and one red.
The announcer wastes no time before launching into another spiel. "Welcome to your campsite! Before you make yourselves comfortable you need to make a choice: do you want to fight this monster for the basic necessities or life or do you want to instead answer questions? Just press the button that corresponds to the choice you want to make!"
The monster lifts its bladed arm and brings it down on the red button with enough force to smash it and break the table into splintered pieces. The announcer giggles.
"Good choice, fight to the death it is!"

The sluglike monster isn't fast, but it moves with determination as it surges forwards and sends James flying into the side of a nearby tree before charging the rest of the group as the fight begins.

The rush through Ares’s body made his heartbeat quicken and his breathing become heavy. He had awoke on a beach, surrounded by people and an environment that he did not understand. “What the fuck is this...”, was his first words as he stood up, taking in the sky and green sun, before settling his eyes upon the figure that appeared in front of the sun. Ares’s dark eyes widened, in utter shock, with his anger rising. He listened to the words of the figure carefully, taking in every last word with his anger growing and growing. Ares was ready to snap into rage, ready to hurl insults and curses never even heard before at the figure, but another boy beat him to it, as he stepped up and shouted out. Ares watched in horror as the figure forcefully grasped the boy, injecting something into his neck, before gazing upon the boy who fell to the floor laughing. This place is sick....why am I even here?! , Ares pondered to himself, just as worried as the rest of the people around him. Just as the peculiar figure rambled on, everything clicked in his head. If what the figure said was true, this was a game of survival, with some sort of prize for the winner. A small smirk slipped across his face, Ares wasn’t settled on losing...he wanted to win. Once he was able to move again, Ares was one of the first to try to run forward, attempting to get a head start. That is until everything shifted around him.

Suddenly, Ares was falling from the sky. Ares quickly ran his eyes around, before realizing the situation, bracing for impact. When he hit the ground, he let out a loud groan, digging his hands into the ground of the floor he was sprawled out upon. Ares picked his head up, glancing around, his vision slightly blurred as he could make out the figures of other people around him. It wasn’t nowhere close to the amount of people present on the beach-like area, so they must’ve been split up. But, where was he? Just a second ago, Ares tried to run forward to start this game! Now he was on the floor, in a mysterious clearing, the outskirts of the area filled with a deep forest. Not to mention the other people who were present in this clearing with him. Get up! Get up! Get up! , Ares kept thinking, his brain constantly yelling at his body to arise. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, forcing himself to lift his body from the floor.

As soon as he stood upon two feet, Ares clenched his stomach, falling onto his knees, before leaning over on both hands and vomiting. His body felt different, something was happening. Ares punched the floor, trying to resist whatever was making him feel this way. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see something going wrong, bright blue lines slowly began to run down his arms, crossing over one another, spiraling, going in all sorts of directions up to his fingers, where some blue spots appeared along the back of his hand. Ares yelped, jumping backward from his hurled over position, sitting back as he held his arms in front of his face, terrified at the sight of random lines and spots across his skin. Ares rubbed his eyes quickly, hoping to awake from whatever disastrous nightmare he was in. Ares watched in horror as the lines and spots glowed a bright blue, as if they were being triggered or activated. Small sparks and electrical bolts erupted between his fingers. Lines of electricity shot out of some of the spots, connecting with other spots along his skin. Even looking down at the ground, he could where his feet were laid out, bolts zapping from his shoes hitting the ground around them. It went on like this for at least a minute or two, Ares watching the sparks and bolts only grow more intense before it finally settled down for a second. What was Ares witnessing? He determined that these blue lines and spots were electrical, it was like he was a spark plug of sorts. There was no possible way though...this was....this was...impossible! Unfathomable! Unbelievable! Ares finally recomposed himself, recollecting his thoughts, feeling his body return to a sense of normality.

Ares pulled himself from the floor a second time, sighing as once more that damned announcer was before them. Beside him was a creature, one that looked like a hybrid between a snake and a slug, with two long arms that were just blades. Ares didn’t speak, trying to put together the announcer’s words, glancing at the hell-like creature in front of him. There was a small table with two buttons, and based off the announcer’s words, they had a choice. Ares didn’t move this time, but even if he did, the monster already slammed it’s hand through one of the buttons and the table itself, completely destroying it. The words “fight to the death it is!” echoed in Ares’s mind, a wave of anger washing over him. He balled up his fists, his eye twitching while he gritted his teeth. Ares could only watch as the slug charged ahead, slamming into another man in the area, before turning it’s sights on to the rest of the group.

Ares took a step straight at the monster, anger already filling his mind and every word as he yelled out. “A fight to the death is what you want?! Then a god damn fight to the death is what you’re going to get!” The blue markings along his arms and neck started to glow, as if they were charging up in a way. Ares didn’t care who was around him, he was going to fight, he wanted to blow this monster into the wind. Ares took another step, before setting himself into a defensive stance, planting his feet into the ground. “Come at me! I’ll fry you!” He put both of his hands upward, his fists sparking with electricity. His plan wasn’t set in stone, Ares was acting off of impulse. Ares hoped whatever electricity he had in his body would shock the monster, or at least slow it down. It was the first battle, the first obstacle, the first challenge. Ares only could pray he’d survive, even though he had no intentions of losing.

Several dreams playing alternately as Ekklesia lulled deep into her sleep. A strange sensation tickled her mind before she woke up with a sense of shock. When Ekklesia opened her eyes, she found herself somewhere unfamiliar, somewhere she couldn't recall. Around her, there were strangers looking confused just like she was. Realizing the distressing smell from surrounding water, Ekklesia took a few weak steps up to the shore. Questions started to pour her head, a storm of emotions overwhelmed her, making the air as if it was too poisonous to breathe. While Ekklesia was gasping for air, a strange massive shadow appeared out of nowhere, blocking the sun as it stood towering to the sky. Ekklesia tried to regain her composure, steadying herself to listen to the creature's words.

Every sentence coming out from the creature was complete madness. The blonde even thought for seconds that she was in a trivial prank show, but everything before her eyes was too real and disturbing. Another horror took place when a man suddenly shouted in anger, which of course not the most brilliant move. The creature, who wasn't pleased obviously, took out some kind of tentacles to put down the man, making him laying on the ground while laughing in a perplexing way. Ekklesia froze in terror witnessing the incident. Even without the creature's power, her nervous system would unconsciously disable her from moving.

Ekklesia took mental notes as the creature barely explaining more about what was happening. None of it made sense for her, but words like game, survival, killing, powers, surely gave an idea that death was inevitable. As soon as the creature finished, it just vanished, leaving everyone puzzled. Before Ekklesia could talk with other strangers, all of them suddenly fell to another place. A loud thud heard as her body touched the ground. Groaning in agony, she found herself in the middle of a forest.

As she was standing up, all of a sudden, she felt a piercing pain on both of her legs, like it was bent forcibly by an unknown force. Ekklesia threw herself back to the ground, hugging her legs with the hope to ease the pain. Underneath her arms, Ekklesia could feel something changing. Her flesh widened, making way for her bones to get bigger and stronger. Stream of sweats flooded her forehead as she bore the transformation. Not done with that, her eyes started to twitch in the most uncomfortable way. She blinked her eyes a hundred times before realizing her sight was amplified. It took several minutes for the nightmare to end. When pains finally left her legs and eyes, Ekklesia took a quick glance to her legs which now has mutated into resembling of goat, "Disgusting..." Her eyes, on the other hand, changed its soft blue color into bright yellow just like an eagle. Along with that, she was given the power of better sight than she used to have.

Again and again, the creature showed up, but it wasn't alone this time. It brought a large monster in the shape of a snake with bladed arms, one swing of it would surely bring death to her door. A glimpse of hope appeared as it gave an option not to fight the monster, but shattered immediately when the monster took the honor to make the choice by smashing the table. Acted out of instinct, Ekklesia jumped to the nearest tree, mounted on its highest branch to save her life from the monster and that one kid who looked like he was going to explode. That moment she realized her other power, her mutated legs gave her the ability to jump higher than usual. This ability would surely save her ass one time or another.

High on the tree, Ekklesia took a quick analysis. That kid could blow the monster for sure, but he too would kill anyone close enough to him, "RUN!! Get away from that kid now!" She shouted, loud enough for everyone to hear. Even though she hadn't trusted anyone yet, she couldn't just let them be killed in vain.

James sighed a breath of relief as he fell on to his bed. It was a long day at work with a ton of preparation that had to be done before he left for his vacation. Now, he had finally returned to his bedroom and was ready for some well deserved sleep. James reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. A white glare illuminated James' face as the screen turned on. It read "3:39 AM" with a small alarm icon in the corner. "I won't have to wake up in time for work tomorrow..." James thought to himself as he tapped the screen to turn off his usual 7 AM wake up alarm. Today, for the first time in a long time, James was able to sleep in and take his sweet time to wake up. He had nowhere to be and no where to go for the next few weeks anyways. James lightly tossed his phone into the corner of his bed and snuggled into his blanket. With one last deep breath of relief, James closed his eyes.

Next thing that James realized, he stood on a strange looking beach. It reminded him of a Van Gogh painting with odd hues and colors saturating familiar looking objects. The... trees? took on a metallic glamor as it reflected an odd green light that the emerald sun bathed the entire scenery in. The odd sight was soon followed by the acrid smell that permeated the air. Vinegar? Looking around, James noticed others who looked just as confused as he did. Where was he? Was this a weird dream? James pondered before the sun suddenly darkened and a chill climbed up his back. James turned to look at the vaguely humanoid figure. It radiated an aura that was simply unsettling as goosebumps climbed up James' arms. It spoke. James listened intently to its monologue. To James, it was clear that the being was doing its best to sow distrust and fear among the people. The word choice and lexicon of the being was purposeful. The scenery and power that it displayed, a spectacle to behold like a fevered, lucid dream.

Yet, James fell from the sky. It was usually at this point that James would wake from his dreams with a jolt, yet he never did. Instead, James found himself with his back on the ground. As time went on, James had the growing suspicion that this was no normal dream. Despite all the absurd things happening, it simply felt too realistic and no matter what... he wouldn't wake up. He got off the ground and patted his pants to brush off the dirt and grass that might have been stuck to him. The back of his legs felt a little stiff and kind of hard. Lifting the cuffs of his pants, James noticed the back of his legs had turned slightly dark, like a bruise. He shrugged it off and assumed that he had landed harder than he initially thought. It was at that moment that the being showed up with some sort of... monster. It smashed the table and rushed at James; he instinctively brought his arms up to protect himself and was knocked off his feet and into some nearby trees with a solid "THUD". A small shower of glowing crystal orbs descended from the tree top and nearby James, bursting upon impact and lighting up the area around him for a fraction of a second.

James groaned as he picked himself off from the ground. "I definitely broke a bone from that..." he muttered to himself, yet as he got up he didn't feel any pain. He felt a bit stiff in his back where he had hit the tree. James examined his arms, which turned black... and his skin, if it could be called that now, was hard like a shell. "What in the world..." James muttered to himself again as he examined his arms closer. However, he did not have much time to examine himself. James heard some people begin to yell and scream as the monster moved towards the others who had landed at this "campsite" with him. James looked at the wicked blades that the monster bore as hands. That would have to be dealt with somehow. Thus, he began to look around for a solid piece of wood that he could use or anything useful to fight against the monster.

The electricity sparking from his fists continued to grow, the visible blue lines along his skin glowing, small sparks escaping as more electricity began to spread along his body. There wasn't any fear in young Ares's body, just a relentless rage that fueled his desire to send this monster into the oblivion. It was getting closer and closer, sliding across the ground at a quick pace. But as it got closer and closer, Ares only felt his power grow and grow. "Fuck it!" The boy screamed, beginning to sprint forward at the creature before him. With a loud yell, Ares cocked back his fist, slamming it into the slimy underside of the creature, a large amount of electricity spreading from the point of impact across the monster’s body, like a large thunderbolt just slammed into his target. The sounds of shocking filled the air as the creature let out a blood-curdling screech, moving slightly backwards from the blow and shocking aftereffect.

The monster seemed stun for a few seconds, swaying around confused for a couple of moments. Ares let out a large yell of pain as his hand dropped instantly. Once his hand connected with the body of the hellish creature, he felt a sharp stabbing pain all across his hand, before it ultimately went numb. W-What happened to my hand?! Ares thought, taking a few steps backward as he grasped his limp hand. Small sparks still shot out of his hand, but Ares couldn’t feel anything, let alone move anything from his wrist down. “What the hell?!” Ares yelled out, gritting his teeth as he tried to shake his arm to somehow wake up his hand. Nothing happened. Ares quickly glanced back to the monster. It was stunned still, even though it still moved forward at Ares, quite clumsily in fact. Whatever happened just now to Ares’s body was fantastic, but clearly destructive to himself. He could still feel the charge growing inside of him, although another attack could endanger him even more. The monster was swinging its bladed arms blindly, trying to regain its composure while being stunned. Ares backed up, his eyes glancing from the slug to the girl in the tree. This is bad...real bad. What do I do? Ares thought again, trying to plan out his next move to avoid dying. Sure, his attack worked, even though it wasn’t enough to kill the creature.

Once the creature got close enough and swung downward at Ares, he rolled out of the way, barely dodging the giant arm that slammed into the ground. “You know, one of you idiots could DO something!” He yelled out, sprinting a few paces away to get distance between him and the slug. This was the worst possible situation for Ares. Now he had to rely on others to try and do something to help. He gave them a prime opportunity, shocking and dazing the damned creature, now all they needed to do was strike. Ares kept being distracted by his hand, the worry slowly growing inside of him about the state of it. It was like his hand didn’t exist at the moment, as if it was separated from his body.

Survival became his biggest goal now. He shifted his stance, getting ready to dodge and weave any attack that was hurled in his direction. It came down to his fellow group members, someone needed to step in. Ares could feel the exhaustion creep in on him. Discharging so much energy made not only his hand go numb and unusable, but made his body work overtime to keep moving. One small misstep and Ares knew he would die. He just needed to hold out until someone around him shot into action.

The power possessed by the boy was impressive, but surprisingly only stunned the creature for several seconds. Ekklesia missed her calculation quite far, she expected the electric could fully knock out the creature, giving them a chance to run away. Seeing how underequipped they were, retreating would be the best option. They had to adapt to the environment, learn about each of their powers and used it accordingly, the most important thing was to get to know each other so they could cooperate. It would be hard to survive here alone, judging from how their first encounter could endure such attack. An unpleasant feeling occupied her as she imagining what kind of things that waiting for them in the future. They had to have a strategy, well at least she had to. Ekklesia wasn't someone who would act recklessly, she would try to avoid any unnecessary loss at all cost. But on the other hand, Ekklesia also aware that she needed to think and act fast for now, unless letting the boy cut by the creature was a wise option. Seeing how he held his hand, she assumed there was some kind of drawback from his power.

"Think, Ekklesia! Think!" she scolded herself while pressing her temple with her fingers to squeeze some plans. Her eyes observed her surrounding carefully, trying to find nearby supplies. Yet, none was found but branches and stones. Her acquired powers, improved eyesight and legs, worked more to save herself and support others. She surely couldn't bring down the creature with her current situation, except... her goal shouldn't be killing the creature. For now, the most important thing was distracting the creature from the boy.

Ekklesia jumped from her safety zone, landing not far from the creature. She could take the large branches and whacked it hard to steal its attention, but that was too risky since she needed to maintain distance. Better stayed away from those razor-sharp bladed arms. So instead, she took the closest big stones, measuring it with her hands to make sure it was heavy enough.

"HEY!!!!" a stinging pain scraped her throat as she yelled. It's been a while since she drank water and her body started to complain. The next thing she had to worry about after this were food and water supplies.

The creature didn't respond to her voice until a stone was thrown at him, making a soft thump to its ugly head. It moved his neck creepily, shifting its attention from the boy to Ekklesia. A low shriek came out as it tried to move slowly toward Ekklesia, looked like the last attack still affecting its senses.

Ekklesia could only buy some time by taking its attention to her. If the creature regained its composure, this method would no longer effective. She needed someone with offensive power to take down the creature. As she was guiding the creature away from the boy, Ekklesia tried to reach out to anyone who was around her, "I need someone to take care of this before it goes back to normal!" Instead of sounding like asking for help, her intonation was firm and sharp, giving it a sense of order.

James found some decent sized wooden(?) branches. This place was strange and creepy, but the metallic tree seemed to be harder than the trees back home. While he wasn't comfortable with the idea of running at the slug-esque monster and whacking it with the stick, there wasn't much else that he could do. Run? Where to? Even if he could out run the monster... he was lost in the middle of a strange forest. Chances were that if he ran, then he would just slowly die from dehydration or exposure to the elements. Hide? For all James knew, the slug could have thermal vision. No there was really only one answer and that was to fight or die trying. Either way, it didn't seem like the slug by itself could hurt James too much... then again... those blades looked pretty nasty. James wasn't sure if the creature could just cut through the branch along with all his limbs... then again maybe the arm blades were somewhat dull from being used for such a long time? Even if the blades were sharp, James figured that making the creature try and cut through a whole bunch of branches would make the blades dull.

With a rough, but workable plan in place, James grabbed one of the branches and started to run at the monster who shifted its attention to a girl who was yelling and throwing rocks at it. With a firm two handed grip on the branch, James couldn't help but remember the times he played baseball in middle school. Was this what people meant when they said that they saw their lives flashing before their eyes? Ahh, damn it is all James could think as he approached the slug monster from the side and swung for its head. James braced for impact like a baseball slugger, but as the branch hit the slug monster... the branch shattered around the area where James gripped it.

"What the fu..." James muttered as he let his hands go of the wood chunks and saw the remains of the branch fly off in a different direction. Knowing that the slug monster would attack James any second now, he grabbed the monster's closest arm and held on for dear life with his hands. "Grab the other arm!" James yelled, hoping that the others would see that the slug monster wouldn't be able to freely swing it's blades around if its arms were restrained and pinned. After all, the only real advantage that they all had was being able to gang up on the monster through sheer numbers. Surely... it wouldn't be able to handle being mobbed all at once?

Despite the ferocity of the monster's initial assault, it quickly finds itself on the defensive as its prey turns out to be more dangerous than expected. Rather than running or cowering they immediately went on the offensive, severely injuring it with electrical blasts and blows with branches. James manages to pin one of its arms, and as the monster swings its other arm to try to knock him off it accidentally embeds its other blade into a nearby tree, after which it is quickly dispatched.

As the three of you stand over the corpse, the monster's body vanishes and the clearing seems to open up, A small ramshackle yet sturdy hut springs up with three mattresses inside it, a water pump and buckets appear to one side, and an outhouse seems to grow out of the ground. A table and three chairs pop up, and on them are three bags marked with your names. Each one contains a simple but filling meal to your tastes and the remains vanish once you're finished.

After that it seems like you're on your own. The sky darkens as the sun doesn't seem to set so much as be blotted out by a massive shadow. It definitely would be a bad idea to go exploring right now, so it seems like your best bet is to talk things out and get some rest.

Seemed like their unplanned barbaric assault was somehow able to defeat the ferocious monster. A long sigh of relief escaped her lips as Ekklesia dropped her body to the ground, her eyes were unfocused for she still couldn't accept the reality that she was stranded on the strange island with creatures hiding in the unknown. The fact that she was able to escape this time only grew more concerns about her future. The only hope she was working together with the strangers. Ekklesia looked at the other two who were also in a mess, she just hoped the electric boy was okay.

Not long after that, the clearing upon them opened up, revealing a small hut. Worrying that this might be another trap, Ekklesia moved slowly towards it, peeking inside before fully stepped into the hut. There were mattresses inside it, maybe this time the game master truly wanted them to take some rest. Without asking the others, Ekklesia rushed to the water pump, gulping down the water for minutes to ease her thirst. Though she couldn't take a full bath, at least she could wash her face, hands, and feet. No way she would go naked and washed her body, not when she was the only female out of the three.

After she was finished, she adjusted herself in one of the seats then took her meal. Not even close to her usual meals, but its plain flavor was enough to fill her groaning stomach. While eating her meal, Ekklesia looked at the two strangers, "It was horrible, isn't it?" she didn't need an answer but she asked anyway. A teardrop escaped her tired eyes, but the girl wiped it soon enough before it managed to cross her cheeks.

"I'm Ekklesia, by the way, guess we need to know each better to get through this," she smiled faintly, trying to appear as friendly as she could. Exhaustion had been eating her body, demanding the host to give it a break. Yet, she was too scared to be asleep for she was unsure if she could see another day after this night.

James had gripped the monster's arm and heard a harsh snapping noise. Looking up at the monster to see what that noise was, he saw the monster wildly swing and then end up embedding its blade arm into a nearby tree while the other arm now bent at an odd angle. Did the creature have really weak bones? James didn't really have much time to find out as he started punching and hitting the monster's face. The others came and helped him finish off the monster. James took a deep breath and sighed. The body of the monster vanished into thin air, yet at the same time he could see the clearing open up with a small hut, and minor basic amenities like an outhouse.... and a dining table? Curious about the random table, James approached and saw the named bags. In his, James found some bread, beef jerky, and olives. Nothing fancy, but he could make due.

James looked at the other two and said "You know. I kinda half expect us having to use the monster's body as food and materials to make stuff with. I'll take this any time of the day though." with a slight chuckle. In all seriousness, when that... thing said that they would have to fight for basic supplies, James thought that it would mean that it was a literal dog eat dog world, but to his relief... it seemed that the thing was somewhat merciful and considerate. James started to eat silently as one of the girls started to cry, but wiped her single tear before it fell too far. He didn't think it was a good idea to really think about all that just happened. They survived for now, and that was all that mattered. James ripped off a piece of bread and chewed on it as the girl spoke again.

"James, pleasure to meet you all." He replied in a rehearsed and practiced manner. James came to his senses and realized that it was a bit inappropriate to say such a thing. They probably all wished that they weren't here after all. "Ahh, well... it would be better if we were anywhere else in the world, but hey... that's life right? Make lemonade when it gives you lemons." He finished up his meal and looked around once more as Ekklesia spoke. A hut, a water pump with a bucket, and this table with three chairs was all that they had around. That and all the trees around them. "Speaking of getting through all of this... we're going to have to work together a bit. I'm thinking that we can carry this table and chairs to the hut and use it to block the entrance a bit. Make it harder for someone or thing to just walk up on us while we sleep... or rest."

James replied to Ekklesia and then joked "I know I sure as heck won't be able to sleep well tonight, but that might be a good thing. I can keep watch for the first few hours if you guys want to close your eyes and try to sleep. I might go and pick up some of those crystal light things that glow on the trees... hopefully it doesn't get too dark, but it would be nice to have some sort of light around."

Cela stumbled through the jungle. She'd gotten separated from the group she'd arrived with and didn't know where she was. She could see light up ahead, so she followed it until she saw a clearing with three people sitting at a table in it.

James, Ekklesia, and Ares were surprised when another bag of food appeared on the table, another chair appeared at the table, and the house increased in size to accommodate another mattress. They looked up to see a dark-haired girl stumble out of the jungle. It appeared that even if their group got bigger they would still be provided for.

As the green tinted sun dangled lazily in the sky, glinting blindingly off of the metallic trees in a seemingly never ending forest, Cela had to wonder how long it had been since her arrival in this God forsaken place. Hours? Perhaps only half an hour? Was the concept of time even something she had to worry about here?

'Focus on your preservation.' A little voice smartly informed her. Right. Focus on surviving. She could figure the technicalities out at a later date. As she trudged on she fought to keep the anxiety from creeping into her chest. If she let it win it would restrict her. She knew if she let it win she wouldn't be able to carry on, and she most certainly wasn't going to die here. A sudden, surprising thought of her dog Rogue filled her mind. What was he doing now? Did he miss her? Who would take care of him?

'Preservation Cela. Focus.' The little voice piped up again and Cela nodded to herself. The group she had been traveling with previously had decided on splitting up to gather supplies needed for survival. Looking back on it though, Cela wasn't sure it was that wise after all. She shouldn't have separated from others who would have made great allies. She didn't think splitting up in an unfamiliar world was exactly the right move, but because she wasn't one to argue she complied and set off in search of anything that might resemble food.

'I'm gonna poison the whole damn group.' She thought negatively. Shielding her eyes from the blinding sunlight, she began to grow desperate. She was lost first of all. She didn't know shit about directions and on top of that, her stomach was growling so loudly that she was sure anything in a twenty foot radius would be able to find her. Cela grabbed her hair with both hands and clutched it in a tight grasp. Shutting her eyes she had to focus on breathing deeply for a few moments, listening to the things she could hear, touch, see, and smell. She most certainly wasn't going to taste anything here, but she was sure that wouldn't ruin the moment. After she had grounded herself she set off again, feeling more determined than ever. Finding a way back home was top priority, and she was going to make damn sure she achieved that. After about ten minutes of more mindless wondering she finally came across a clearing. It was bare here save for a single table, a water pump, a hut and three other people. Cela wasn't sure whether she should be relieved that she had found others or scared of who exactly they were. They looked normal at least...

Walking slowly into the clearing Cela squinted to take a closer look at the others she was approaching. Two guys and one girl sat here, looking worn out. The girl was very pretty, her blond hair sticking out from the group like a sore thumb. One man was taller than the rest, with dark hair, a slender figure and glasses. Finally Cela's eyes traveled over to the last of the group, a kid with messy brown hair and a somehow fragile appearance. They didn't look dangerous, but at this point she couldn't be too sure.

"Um... Excuse me?" She waved a hesitant hand, pursing her lips in a timid manner. She also noticed the extra bag of food on the table, seemingly untouched. She had to force her eyes away from it as her stomach growled again in indignation. Cela paused now, waiting to see how inviting this group would be.

Ekklesia looked at the man who called himself James and nodded in agreement, "That would be great, thank you." Usually, she would add more plans to backup the current plan, but she was dead tired, both her body and mind. Whatever suggestion thrown at her would surely get her approval. As she was finishing her last bite, she stole some glances at James. At least, he looked more reliable than the young electric boy, mature enough to talk to. Ekklesia felt that James got the same vibe with her, maybe coming from the same background, she didn't know yet.

"I'm finished, let's move the chairs and table to block the entrance as you suggested," she started to drag her own chair to the hut which suddenly changed its size into a bigger one, "Eh?" She rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't imagining things, "Did you see that? The hut just gets a little bit bigger..." before she finished, she saw another chair near the table as she looked back to the boys. She was sure there were 3 chairs including the one with her, "...and now there is another chair and... food?" She asked, but needed no answer for the boys was in bewilderment just like her.

"Um... Excuse me?"

Ekklesia jolted in surprise when an unfamiliar voice reached her ears. Her head quickly turned around to find the source. Not far from them, there was another human standing while waving hesitantly. The new girl supposedly a little bit younger than Ekklesia with thick black hair adorning her face. Ekklesia put her chair down, slipping strands of hair that kept bothering her behind her ears before awkwardly smiling to her, "Hello?"

Connecting some information laying in front of her, the blondie assumed that the girl was the new addition for their group. It was funny how the so-called game master provided them more provisions as their numbers grew when the last thing it cared about was their life. Still, she needed to make sure that the girl was not another threat, "Mind stating who you are before coming any closer?" Her low voice was firm and unintentionally dominating.

James was a bit puzzled by the girl. It seemed like she had stuff she wanted to say, but she also looked very drained and fed up. As if it wasn't even worth talking at the moment cause what of what little energy she had. However, considering the situation... he couldn't blame her. They had all been through A LOT today. In fact, he couldn't even really tell how much time had passed since he woke up in this strange place. Everything was so foreign to him that he didn't know if it was evening, noon, or morning. Ten minutes or ten hours could have passed and James had no idea how to prove one or the other. As they finished up their meals, James started to grab his end of the table to try and start moving it over to the hut. In the corner of his eye, James saw another chair seemingly pop out of nowhere. "Huh? There wasn't a fourth..." James quietly said to himself as he heard Ekklesia comment about the hut getting bigger. James looked at her with bewildered eyes. He didn't really know what to say other than he's clearly not the only one going insane at the moment.

Suddenly, a fourth, feminine unknown voice called out. James instinctively grabbed his chair to lift and use as a weapon just in case something bad was about to happen. He finally looked up to see another girl walk out of the forest. James sighed a breath of relief. He didn't want to start fighting ANOTHER monster. The newcomer looked human enough to him. He let go of the chair and looked to Ekklesia and said "I'm really glad that it's not another monster that's trying to slice us in half." He then turned to look at the stranger and said "Hey! Where did you come from? Did... that thing make you fight a monster too?" as he looked around to make sure that there weren't more people or something else sneaking up on all of them while they were busy talking to the newcomer.

She stuck out like a sore thumb. Everything in this world was a weird color or shined some sort of light. She alone had long black hair as black as a raven. He secretly was glad that the trees seemed to grow those light crystals. It made it much easier to look into and see things in the woods as James continued to look around the clearing.

Both of their reactions caused Cela to pause, taking a step back and regarding them carefully. The girl seemed guarded while the guy literally picked up one of the chairs from the picnic table in defense. Neither of them took a step nearer however, so Cela stayed put as well. Finally the girl spoke, a very logical question being addressed. Cela merely nodded.

"Oh. Sure. I'm Cela. I got separated from my original group and ended up walking in the forest for a bit." That was the extent of her explanation, unsure how much she should be giving away to these people. She figured understanding them a bit more before explaining herself further would be in her best interest at this point. Then the guy spoke, seemingly settling down after realizing she wasn't a threat. His question was a bit more out of the blue, but probably logical considering their situation. Cela smirked at this, surprising herself. She wasn't usually one to find things amusing. She had always been viewed as a very serious, anxious child, so most didn't get the pleasure of seeing her smile.

"I'm... not sure what you mean by that. I haven't fought any monsters here, although I saw a few odd creatures in the forest a bit ago." She motioned to the wooded area behind her before taking a cautious step towards the two again. She had explained herself, so she figured it was ok to go ahead and join them now. Making her way slowly towards them so as not to startle anyone (Including herself. Her anxiety was becoming quite prominent again.), she glanced back to the girl.

"Who are you?" Cela's voice became small again; timid even. She was acutely aware of the green tinted sun's heat. It seemed to get hotter and hotter and the moment seemed to almost drag out. Her chest tightened as she made her way over to the table, finally stopping at the far end of it as she dragged her icy blue eyes to look between the two. If any time she was going to die, it would be this moment. They could be dangerous and attack her right here. Or they could just be two friendly humans, stuck in the same position she was. Either way she was outnumbered, and she had no idea how to fight...

Ekklesia laughed off at James' comment, she surely would go insane if the girl in front of her turned out to be monster in disguise. The raven-haired girl then introduced herself as Cela, followed with a little explanation about how she got there. Ekklesia squinted her eyes with the slightest suspicion as Cela continued to talk. She scanned the timid girl from head to toe, judging whether she was spurting the truth. Movements made as Cela finished her words, she walked closer to both Ekklesia and James which made Ekklesia raised her body in alarm. She couldn't trust the girl enough to let her stand within her safe zone so moved a bit to keep her distance. However, Ekklesia kept her politeness to not ignore the question, "I'm Ekklesia," she answered, short and clear.

Her eyes peeked at James to see his reaction when another movement made. Cela now standing at the end of the table, maybe she was aiming for the meal pack. If Cela had gone through the same event as Ekklesia, the girl would surely hungry as a bear. Ekklesia then pulled the chair she had been holding to her back and sat down. She crossed her legs as she started talking again, "Guess the meal exclusively appeared for you. Take it, it's yours," Seemed like she needed to wait a little longer before she could rest her body in the hut.
