--REALMS OF ALDAAN--
~ ~ ~
Welcome to my roleplay. My name is Kloudy and I've been constructing Aldaan for about six months now. I am also the author of Four Suits, my previous fantasy roleplay that won Roleplay of the Month in September 2020. Before I get to the synopsis of the interest check, allow me to explain a few things first.
This is a high fantasy open world roleplay with heavy exploration and lore discovery elements. You will be asked to travel with a group of adventurers and journey across the world of Aldaan in search of greatness. You will encounter powerful magicks, deadly beasts, cunning adversaries and many of the horrors that stalk the lands at night. You will have a large pool of premade spells, skills and items to equip yourself with in the hope of surviving your next quest. As your group influences the world, its political climate will evolve in response. Supporting a particular nation may have adverse effects on another, and so on.
I have written up quite a large selection of lore for you to discover along your journeys, from rich histories to fantastical legends to forbidden rituals. There is also a highly detailed custom-made map with city and town names, along with nation borders and various other landmarks.
I expect a decent level of literacy from you all as this is a detailed roleplay. I will be lenient if you seem to be putting in the effort to improve, however. The pace will likely be slow to intermediate depending on what your group is comfortable with, but becoming inactive without communication will lead to getting skipped until further notice. There will be no specific post order as each group will have it's own location thread.
As of this post, there are 22 players currently in this roleplay. I am used to managing larger roleplays and you will likely be interacting with up to four or five others at most at any given time, so don't be put off by our numbers. We have a discord for all ooc chatter, so don't be afraid to drop by and ask questions.
Thanks for reading this far. If you are interested by this, feel free to read the synopsis and join us on the discord server. The roleplay will officially launch on the 15th of June and the IC will start a week after that on the 22nd. Also don't mind my serious demeanor - I promise I'm much more fun once you meet me. ; )

The homeland of the Mortal Realms and birthplace to a plethora of races that now populate it. Great beasts walk its noble valleys and terrifying horrors stalk it's lonesome nights. While it may not always be the safest of places to make your home in, you know of it's wondrous beauty. Ever since you were a child you had been told stories of the endless jungles of the Tribal Expanse and it's magnificent World Tree; of the glimmering sea cities of Auranii and the blindingly blistering frost peaks of the Cryikk Wastes. You have heard of rich cultures from across the continent, from the mysterious Nebosi and their ability to commune with the gods to the boorish Ork tribes that dominate strength, honour and warfare.
Across the deathlands of the Ruins of the Eclipse, great kingdoms had risen and fallen in the name of different lords. Many races claimed supremacy in the years and still none stood above the rest. Slave states suffered in anguish as the strong trampled the needy. Totalitarian regimes knew well how to punish dissent and even through the centuries can the old grudges be felt. Powerful nations demanded absolutes from it's enemies in the name of imperial glory, relics from these histories left to turn to dust - or for you stumble upon first. Treasures from the past that could afford one a magnanimous fortune if their luck or strategy allow it.
The children of your town would often try to spook each other with tales of a living undead kingdom to the North, or a hellish fiery landscape filled with manhunting dragon-bugs. They would laugh and whisper of seas teeming with monstrous creatures of the deep, of realms bathed in the blood and fire of maddened demons. The stories never spooked you, of course. It only made your apetite for grandeur grow. You wished to know more of these all-powerful gods and goddesses. You craved to bear witness to the spells that approached divinity and meet the leaders that allowed the lands to thrive, to bask in the powers that had and might yet change fate itself. You needed providence of destiny as feverishly as the mewling pup searched for a breast to suckle, and your life until now was spent building to this moment.
You are not the strongest of warriors, the most valiant of knights or the most arcane of sorcerers. But your boon comes in the form of unshakeable fate. Your calling is your strength and it will guide you in your times of weakness. You remember stories your father would tell you of great voyages to lands beyond the realm, of escapades deep into the tunnels of the Skirk Prospect and the sheer gravity of the holy market streets of the Dacht Theocratic Conglomerate. Dungeons too deep to tell if it was night or day. Monsters and creatures too tall to spy their faces from below the klouds. Magical weapons forged in the fires of arcane mastery and tempered on the field of glorious battle. You fear no future, for yours holds only one path: Onwards.
Ah yes, it was these tales that spurred in you the great burning passion for adventure. It was in your blood, in your brain, in the very soil beneath your boots. It was in your fist when you clenched it in sheer frustration, in your blade when you wielded it for the first time, in your mother's eyes when she bid you farewell on the doorstep of your childhood home. The desire to see all that this world had to offer was the one thing that continued to keep you up at night wondering...
What lies beyond?
