Welcome, welcome, to the first Octowizard Tournament, the grandest show on land or by sea! Students, please proceed with caution if you're thinking of entering your name into the Goblet of Fire, as these tasks are not for the faint of heart. For the first time in history, the eight international wizarding schools—Hogwarts (Scotland), Beauxbatons (France), Castelobruxo (Brazil), Durmstrang (Scandinavia), Ilvermorny (North America), Mahoutokoro (Japan), Uagadou (Uganda), and Koldovstoretz (Russia)—are uniting to hold a magical Olympics among their best and brightest pupils, and you’re invited! Glory and gold, pleasure and pain, magic and mayhem, dreams and danger will abound. The Octowizard is a magical spectacle the likes of which the wizarding world has never seen before, and no one is sitting on the sidelines for it. Only one will win, and some may lose everything.

Unlike the previous Triwizard Tournaments, in which one school would host the whole tournament and house the accumulative populations of all competing schools, only a committee of three student representatives from each school will be attending the Octowizard Tournament in person. Those three students are selected at the discretion of their individual headmasters. From among those three, the Goblet of Fire shall select one name to be the champion for his or her school. The two unchosen students shall have front-row seats to spectate the tournament, and will serve as the champion’s secondaries in the tragic (but not unlikely) event that a champion is unable to continue the tournament. And who knows, perhaps the Goblet of Fire might just call for a team challenge.
One other important deviation from the original Triwizard Tournaments is that, there will be eight tasks altogether, and each school will play host to a different task. Each school’s crew—consisting of the three aforementioned students plus one chaperoning professor—will get an unprecedented opportunity to sight-see as they travel the world on an all-expenses-paid trip. However, it would be beneficial for competing students to keep in mind that classes will be scheduled regularly amidst the tournament, and an ample decline in one’s grades may result in removal from the tournament. Since these challenges will prove a test to a competitor’s physical, mental, and emotional maturity, the Goblet of Fire will only accept the names of fifth- through seventh-year students.

Rules!
- This is an advanced thread, so I would like 3+ paragraphs per post with mostly correct grammar and spelling. The occasional excuse of low muse is understandable, but this must remain occasional.
- Only one champion per RPer. Including professors and secondaries, you may have up to three characters total.
- Only four characters with a special magical status (Animagus, Metamorphmagus, Veela, werewolf, etc.) will be allowed, since they are exceptionally rare.
- It’s not necessary that you’ve read or seen the entire Harry Potter series to join this RP, but it would help if you have at least a little background knowledge. Those of us who are avid fans will help you out with the rest of the universe lore, if need be.
- As aforementioned, competing students are between fifth- to seventh-year.
- Keep in mind, Beauxbatons is not an all-girls school, and Durmstrang is not all boys, as portrayed in the movie. Also, culture plays an important role in this RP! While you don't have to know your character's culture inside and out, please don't do something completely out of the ordinary for someone of their background without reason.
- Please do not complain because “Harry” and “Dumbledore” aren’t here. In this AU universe roleplay, none of the canon characters exist. EVERYONE PLAYS OC’S.
- Reservations will be upheld for 72 hours, by which time the entire form should be complete.
- While characters are allowed to be complete asses to each other in the roleplay, OOC bullying is not tolerated. Hate the character, not the RPer.
- Please post on the RP thread at least once every two weeks. Don't make me have to hunt you down for a reply.
- With regards to the aforementioned rule, don’t flood other thread members, including myself. You must wait until three people have posted since your last post until you can reply again.
- You must have an imagination! Create plots, play NPCs and side characters, keep the story rolling. I hate having to make everything happen on my own.
- Use faceclaims, and no anime pictures for your charries!

The Demiguise is a peaceful, herbivorous magical beast that can make itself invisible and foretell the future, which makes it very hard to catch.

Appearance: The first thing that leaps out about Kasper is his vibrant rust-colored hair, which isn't all that uncommon for Swedes. Thick, wavy, and often wind-tossed (especially after Quidditch matches), his bangs are constantly flopping into his eyes, unless he slicks them back. A few shades lighter than his hair are his eyebrows, which are so pale as to almost be rendered invisible. They shelter deep-set eyes of a velvety black shade, so dark that they give the impression of absorbing the light around them, glittering like stolen stars. Kasper has a long, narrow face, with unusually pointy features that vacillate between being too sharp to be attractive, and lethally handsome. His chin tapers to a noticeable tip, and at some angles, his cheekbones look prominent enough to cut. His nose is long and almost perfectly straight, with just the slightest upward curvature at the end. Below that is a rosebud mouth with a spare upper lip and a full lower one. Like many redheads, Kasper's skin is porcelain pale. Not surprisingly for one who is accustomed to cold and cloudy climates such as him, he is susceptible to intense sunburn after less than even an hour in the summer sun. After years of dedicated ice hockey and Quidditch training, he is simultaneously lean yet corded with muscle, making him heavier than he looks at first glance. His legs are especially toned, due to the lower body strength that ice skating demands. For those who are curious, Kasper is left-handed.

Body Modifications: A simple gold hoop earring in his left ear. Additionally, on the back of his neck is a silvery birthmark vaguely shaped like a star.
Physical Disabilities: Kasper is considerably near-sighted, with roughly 20/100 vision. Usually he chooses to remedy this with contacts because he thinks he looks nerdy with glasses, but he has both. Also, after sustaining an ankle sprain while playing hockey a few years ago, his left ankle often still hurts when running or during prolonged periods of standing.

Personality: As far as cliques go, Kasper is a strange mix between a brawny jock and an artistic soul who feels condemned to eternal misunderstanding by others. Internally, he is a lot more emotional than he lets on, because he has a hard time trusting others and doesn't want to be misconstrued as weak or needy. But in reality, his feelings are so intense, deep, and piercing that he often feels overwhelmed by them. That's not to say that he is so fixated on his emotions that he's entirely oblivious to logic, though. He has an analytical side that rationalizes, which often results in his withdrawing from others because he's constantly comparing himself to them and finding himself lacking; after a childhood of isolation from his peers, Kasper suffers from a crippling lack of self-esteem. Nonetheless, he tends to follow his heart over his head, and he sometimes impulsively acts on his emotions, either not bothering to consider the consequences of his actions, or not caring. Instead of saving brooding for when he's upset, for Kasper, this is a default state of which he's often unaware.
But this doesn't stop him from living in the moment and trying to experience life to the fullest. With a highly creative mind, he has a broad array of interests, from sports to cooking to music, and wants time to accommodate them all--sometimes at the expense of his school work, much of which he feels is meaningless. He has a fierce sense of individuality, feeling broken and imperfect, separate from others, but sometimes this disconnection is his greatest source of muse. Because Kasper values his freedom and independence a lot and knows life is short, he often voluntarily keeps to himself, not wanting to be bogged down in others' drama. He enjoys life's simple pleasures, like a good song or a colorful sunset, often feeling at one with nature and admiring the beautiful simplicity with which animals live. Wanting to devote as much time as possible to himself and his creative pursuits, he is sometimes unreliable in his keeping of commitments, which he doesn't even like to make in the first place. Rather than making a plan of action and imposing his will on the world, he's a very go-with-the-flow type. He has a flexible and spontaneous approach to life, understanding that muse and opportunity come in bursts that can't be forced or scheduled. Kasper adapts to situations as he sees fit, enjoying the thrill of improvising and not knowing all of life's mysteries.
Of course, his lack of structure and aversion of routine sometimes cause him to start things without finishing them, too, or procrastinate to the point where it's impossible to do a thorough job in accordance to deadlines. Additionally, he tends to get hung up on details and miss the bigger picture or "point" of an idea or task that doesn't immediately resonate with him. He's a musician, not a writer, and is much more focused on the literal and concrete, that which can be perceived through the senses, rather than abstract concepts or theories. Kasper is a cynic at heart, and as such, he sometimes fails to see both his own and others' potential for change or greatness, being absorbed in current bleak realities. He is cautious, often seeing the cost without seeing the value. Hence his liking of sports, something that has a clear objective, requires full absorption in the moment, and promotes an impulsive decision-making process. Part of being hyperaware of his environment involves always analyzing the subtext behind others' words or actions, and this leads to Kasper perhaps being more sensitive than he should be. However, if he feels as though his beliefs or values are being challenged, he is not one to meekly back down and cave to others' wills. If provoked, he is borderline confrontational, prone to lashing out at offenders and ensuring that he or his loved ones are not taken advantage of. But later on, he'll usually feel guilty about aggressing himself and wounding others' feelings.
For all his faults, Kasper is a good listener and shoulder to cry on. He's not usually one to offer logical solutions to problems, but he doesn't shy away from offering emotional support. Since he has such a low opinion of himself, he is often altruistic about meeting his friends' needs and being there for them in times of trouble. However, he is neither very approachable nor outgoing, so the actual process of making friends presents many challenges to him. But when someone does happen to pique his interest, Kasper wants to develop a nuanced, meaningful relationship; not just something superficial to pass the time. Authenticity is very important to him, and he wants to get to know others for their real selves, not for the facades that they present to the world. He lacks the charisma and stability to be a leader, but he sure as hell isn't a follower, either. Instead, Kasper often chooses to defy convention and march to the beat of his own drum, and while he doesn't have the internal confidence to completely not care what others think of him, he usually won't change his course of action on behalf of expectations.

Though she’s naturally an intimidating person, her height doesn’t match it. Sometimes her personality can intimidate on it’s own, it’s rather difficult to be scared of a tiny, skinny girl. When trying to make an impression she relies on heels and confidence, to make her appear taller.

Her ultimate pride, and joy is her hair. It’s not extremely special, but through the use of obscure magical products, and extensive care, she was able to give it a sheen that made it appear to be far prettier than it is.

As mentioned before Isabelle is very......intense. She’s essentially Hermione Granger had she been a little colder, and grew up with magic.

She’s developed a bit of a reputation for being a sleeping tiger in test season. Everyone knows not to bother or even engage with her, when she’s under stress as chances are she’ll start screaming up a storm if she happens to get a worse grade than usual.

She tends to isolate herself in school, which leads people to think she’s far worse than she is. She’s a bit rude and snobbish at times, but if she has no reason to hate you then chances are she doesn’t.

When necessary to be in a tame, she’s an excellent teammate, mostly playing support and strategist. For as long as the competition lasts, she’ll stay loyal her team.

Her life has been relatively uneventful up until the tournament. When she was a mere toddler her father and mother got into quite a few arguments. You see Paul had neglected to mention a few things when they had gotten married. Mainly that he was magical. So it was quite a shock to Gabrielle when their daughter started making bubbles appear out of thin air.

Though she had forgiven Paul for his lies, their relationship was never the same. The only thing that had kept them together was Isabelle, and when she left for her first year of Beauxbatons, they were forced to be alone with each other.

When she returned for the summer she caught them in a vicious fight where Gabrielle said “She couldn’t handle having a magical child. It was just too much”.

She had never told them that she had seen them, instead sneaking out the back door, and waiting for the fight to end. When she was 14 her parents surprised nobody by separating.

Though they’ve yet to divorce, they still live in separate homes, and she alternates summers with them.

Ever since her mother mentioned her being “too much” Isabelle turned herself into the class overachiever trying her best to get perfect grades, and isolating herself whenever she fell short.

When news of the Tournament came, she initially didn’t want to sign up. It was dangerous, risky, and idiotic to do so. That was until she learned of the glory she would receive should she win. That led her to make one of the most impulsive decisions of her life and signed up.

In hindsight she was grateful to be a secondary. She could go to different schools, and learn new things while silently educating the other students on how much better the French are.

Appearance:
Genevieve is around average height for a woman her age, falling around 5"5. She is lean with an hourglass figure, but do not mistake her for weak. She has strong arm muscles and can lift a good amount of weight. She's quite fit too, she is a prodigy for her presence in individuals archery in France, she likes to keep up her strength and looks. Genevieve is quite conscious about her physical appearance, not in the self conscious way but more making herself look appealing to the eye. She has quite distinctive features, having prominent, large eyes that are rather wide-set on her face. Plucked, high arching eyebrows and a straight, petite nose. She is graced with small lips, fuller in the bottom lip, with a rather prominent W shape for a cupids bow. She has a pointed chin, well defined cheekbones and jawline. She has pale, smooth almost flawless skin with the exception of bruising, scarring and harden skin on her left forearm from doing archery without a protective bracer. Her hair is a light, golden blonde which she has grown out in her later teen years reaching below her breasts. She goes through phases in her hair styles, switching between simple styles such as having it out in it's natural waves, or tied up in a neat pony-tail to elaborate up-dos and braids.

  After graduating Koldovstoretz with honors, Aleksandr Volkov followed in his own father's footsteps to become an auror. While on a case in Romania, he met the beautiful Zavyalova Vasiliev working in magical law enforcement for the ministry of magic. The two were married rather quickly, Zav giving birth to their first child Dimitri and then Katia only a short year after. Her mother's laugh is one of Katia's favorite memories, a reminder of how happy they used to be. When Katia was five her parents tried to have another child, but Zav miscarried late into her pregnancy. Their family spiraled out of control from there, her mother and father spending more time fighting than with their children, Zavyalova secluding herself in her room to wallow in grief instead of taking care of the children she still had.
  
  When Katia was only six years old, her mother left them and Aleksandr was destroyed. The children were too young to truly understand what had happened, but they clung to one another in the absence of their mother and the increased drinking of their father. Dimitri and Katia were inseparable until Dimitri was about 9, Aleksandr had been disgraced by his wife but his first born son could redeem the family name. Their father could barely stand to look at Katia, she looked too much like her mother, so Dimitri received all of the attention from their father, leaving her to learn everything second-hand from her brother so that she too could succeed once she arrived at Koldovstoretz.
  
  Eventually even Dimitri became weary of the little sister he had once adored, which hurt Katia worst of all. While Katia cherished their mother's memory, her brother had tried to forget it, causing the siblings to argue incessantly. Dimitri would always be the golden child and Katia knew her father wished she'd never been born, causing the young girl to throw herself into her studies to prove she was just every bit as smart as her brother. Even with constant praise from her professors, Katia never felt like she was good enough, always feeling like an outcast no matter where she went. Her self-hatred turned into anger at everyone, getting into trouble several times for hexing other students or getting into fist fights.

Just two little things before I add her to the list: First, please add just a few more sentences to her personality; I really want to get to know her! The other thing is (and I totally don't blame you for not knowing this; I probably wouldn't either if I wasn't part Russian), in Russia, there are gendered surnames, so as a Russian woman, Katia's last name would most likely be Volkova, while her father and brother would be Volkov. That, and instead of a middle name, they use patronymics... if her father's first name is Aleksandr, her middle name/patronymic would be Aleksandrovna. But I'll let you decide whether or not you want to edit the original name you gave her, since I doubt that's something a whole lot of people would catch on to. Otherwise Katia looks great, and I can't wait to see her in action!
