Oh no! I was just asking. I was just spinning some ideas on the possible character I would be playing and I thought I'd ask.

Haha, no worries! I didn't really know what to say either because I was just saying yes left and right without paying attention to the numbers... If you have an idea that's not there, I can always add it on if I think it'll work?

Oh I think it might fit The Ruler well but I'm not too sure yet where I'm going with this character so no worries there!

Nykios and Diianta | Twin Worlds of Night and Day
[/div]
[div class=ba][div class=lo]

Long, long ago, the world was split into two. Nykios, the World of the Night and Diianta, the World of the Day. Together they were called Iyanth-ei. They each had half the day govern but they weren’t happy with only half. Both of them fought and fought to control more of the day for many, many centuries. The fight destroyed mountains and seas, destroyed countless living things until they finally reached a compromise. On the hottest day of summer, Diianta decided to command the day. On the coldest day of winter, Nykios chose to rule the day. They hereafter became known as the Summer and Winter Solstices. And in spring and fall, the days where they both oversaw equal times were known as the Equinoxes.

Millenniums later... is when our story starts. In the world now, creatures change and landforms shift every day and night. Living things may be one thing during the day but something very different at night. People do not remember all of their memories and experiences in the day at night and similarly, do not remember themselves at night during the day. In this way, night and day achieved equal control over all living things and lived in harmony with their counterpart. Or did they?

While the world seems calm and serene at first glance, hidden tensions are again rising between Nykios and Diianta. In the year MCXXIII on the Jyncien calendar, people who remember both night and day are starting to rise...

This text may seem far down for desktop/laptop/tablet people, but I'm hoping the mobile users can see a little more clearly now.

Alright, just a few things. I'm new here and this is my first time posting an interest check so do tell me anything you'd like to say without holding back. I'm fine with people posting frequently or just once a week because life happens and we all have things to do. If you're going to leave for a time, just tell me and we're good. I don't care much about length, but please don't give me one-liners. Also, please use proper grammar, spelling and all that jazz. If you aren't a native speaker (writer?), it's fine, just try your best.
Oh! Final thing. Your characters will have to have double of some aspects.
Okay, all done, folks!

By the way, are there any sort of parameters for the roles of our characters?

By the way, are there any sort of parameters for the roles of our characters?

What do you mean? Like how much the character is influenced by the role? They just have to be somewhat related to the archetype or the image the title sends. (Or it could be the opposite, like a ruler character who acts nothing like a ruler in the beginning but ends up like one.) I stole my idea from tarot cards and Jungian archetypes, haha.

I was wondering why this felt so familiar!

Thanks! I might go with the Trickster or something of the like.

Oh also, sorry for all the questions, but you said that people don’t remember their other selves, right? I was then wondering, how did the kingdoms remember their hostility, or even the other one? Sorry, just a bit confused by that.

They aren’t kingdoms, they’re a world with consciousness and feelings. Kind of like split personalities that know each other is there but only actually take control during either night or day. This world is always only night or only day, so there is no dawn or dusk or different time zones. There’s a backstory about the worlds that’ll be revealed later on about why the two hate each other and other stuff that may be confusing now.

So the people don’t even know night and day hate each other. They’re just chess pieces stuck in the spat between the two.

Heh, now watch me make a very nice and compassionate CEO or head merchant but his other personality is that he's greedy, secretive and manipulative.

Twist is, he practically acts the same on both sides of the spectrum.

Yeah, I’m thinking about doing the Trickster or Magician, and that opens quite a few doors for ideas

Also, I should add that people during the night think they’re sleeping during the day and people during the day think they’re sleeping at night. They have no idea how night looks during day and how day looks during night, they only have a general idea from books and stories.

Character Sheet

[div class=bo]

Role:
Your literal or not literal title. That may or may not be really used.
Main Name:
The name we'll call your character by. The merged name, the one name, the whatever. Look down at the tiny note under the name table for more info.
Age:
Nothing to see here. Keep on going.
Gender:
I didn't want to make this too complicated, so bam. One gender. I debated about having one for night and day... but you know what? Screw that.
Self-Image:
What the character believes their personality to be after memories of both worlds collide. It can become a mash-up of both night and day personas, be a split personality or have one persona override the other. I'm sure there a bunch of combinations I haven't said yet.
Likes:
This isn't mandatory. You can always add later when things happen. Pretty basic. It can be detailed, like liking the smell of lemongrass in a garden after a short, mid-morning rainfall on the first day of spring or not, such as liking cats or hats.
Dislikes:
This also isn't mandatory. Again, add later if you want. Again, pretty basic.
DayNight
Name:Name:
Your character has both a day and night name. Please choose one or merge them for the main name. Or they could just be the same name. Makes life easier.
Species:Species:
You can be anything, as long as it makes sense. Don't give me a vampire. Or if you are, make it a bonafide blood-sucking, six-legged platypus or something.
Appearance:Appearance:
... I mean, if you're different creatures during day and night you probably look different, right?
Backstory:Backstory:
Since your day and night persona grew up in different environments and maybe even with different people, they're going to have differing pasts. Butterfly effect, yeah? Little things turn into bigger things.
Your character will have the same family relationships but whether they realize is another matter. For instance, their mother may have a great relationship with them during the day but completely not know they exist during the night.
Skills and Abilities:Skills and Abilities:
Anything from sweet-talking to sewing skills to psychic abilities. Of course, as long as it's logical. I mean, why would a king have the skill to hand make a ball gown? Unless... Anyway, just be able to explain it.
Weaknesses and Flaws:Weaknesses and Flaws:
Allergic to cake? Puff up with boils when a hummingbird touches your ear? Give me your greatest weaknesssss!
Additional Info:
I don't know. Talk about pets? Family? Bad senses of humour? Deepest, darkest secrets? ... A tiny description that does nothing to actually help?

Note: I don't mind if you code it, but please try not to make it tiny. My eyes and brain with goldfish-level attention span will thank you. Also, you don't need to be super detailed and specific if you want to leave some stuff for the roleplay. Oh right, just because the character remembers everything doesn't mean that their bodies and/or location won't keep changing every day and night.

[/div]
Actually, not to be a bother or anything, but I think it would be easier to put it in a new thread

Actually, not to be a bother or anything, but I think it would be easier to put it in a new thread

I was going to when there was enough people but I guess I can post the character thread early. I was going to ask for the sheets then. I didn’t want anyone posting their characters here.

Alright, well, I appreciate seeing the character sheet up as it is- helps with everything I didn't quite understand, thank you for that. One question I have that's been bothering me more than it should- is it set in a more medieval or modern time period? My Roman numerals are a little rusty so I don't quite know what the year even is

Random thought/question: so if people just think they were sleeping, but in actuality just don't remember, does that mean that nobody ever actually sleeps?
