The Atori transmutation machines literally saved the world. They could instantly produce water and food from trash and waste, they could convert pollution in the air into crisp clean fresh air. While this did clean up the planet it also allowed other companies the ability to ramp up production with no real restrictions. What did it matter how much pollution you produced when you just strap a replicator to your factory and the only runoffs would be fresh water and clean air. All the world needed now was more materials to convert. Because of this the second industrial era began along side the final exporational era for man. The space age had truly begun.
The breakthrough of the replicators allowed mankind to spread to the stars in a single generation, education became free, as did food, water ,and housing. Money became a thing of the past and people could find all they needed. The company spread to the whole world and beyond. If you wanted to have everything you and your family needed working for atori industries was the best way. It was those who made the decision to risk their lives exploring the stars that would get the best perks however. New materials were being discovered and new colonies were being set up on planets, asteroids and moons all over the solar system. As having a family was no longer much of a struggle and in fact was heavily encouraged. The population swelled immensely, but overpopulation never occured. There was no cap on resources and every new person was a potential factory in their own right as personal replicators became a reality in 2094.
However all good things come to an end in time. In 2101 Augustus Atori died leaving the company to his grandson, Maxwell Atori, as his own son had already passed away. Maxwell had proven himself more intelligent than his grandfather in the first year when he solved the cool down problem of the replicators making their capacity for change truly limitless. Atmospheres and entire cities could now be produced in a matter of a few weeks rather than years. Bigger and better engines were developed and the reach of mankind also spread beyond the solar system. Finally in 2123 humanity found something that would once again change them as a species, only this time the Company kept this to themselves. This discovery was the Omega Sequence. An alien mathematical formula that when applied to the Transmutation machines allowed them to ignore the restrictions of physics. All at once Atori industries became imbued with the power to alter physics and create impossible things.
In an effort to utilize it to the best possible degree Maxwell created the Omega program. This program would be set up on venus in a super sized facility where "volunteers" would be "willingly" exposed to the Omega Sequence transmutation effect. The results were in many ways horrible, but in other ways they were amazing. With a human population now reaching upwards of 50 billion thanks to the massive uptick in births and a surprising increase in the number of twins and triplets being born there was no shortage of test subjects. Several tens of thousands of subjects were exposed, most became mutated into non functioning biological systems dying almost immediately. Roughly 15% managed to survive this mutation becoming horrible creatures of various shapes and sizes with terrifying capabilities. However the 1% that were successful spurred the project to continue. The Successful Omega projects maintained their humanity in shape and mentality but were granted immense power that often violated the laws of physics and reality itself. These successful subjects were put away in cryo tubes for extended research.
Everything was going well until the 26th Omega subject awakened from his tube without warning. Dubbed as the "War God" subject and with his mind fractured from an incomplete brainwashing he promptly went on a mad rampage. After destroying roughly 40% of the city sized facility in a matter of minutes he made it to the main power core which he destroyed as well shutting the facilities central power down. The backup generators did work, at least the ones that remained intact. Unfortunately the ones that powered the containment units of the other 25 Omega's were no longer intact and all at once the pods opened. While these subjects were in their right mind they were able to recognize the chaos unfolding around them as the 26th subject continued his rampage shredding the now organized defense forces of the facility before smashing his way out of 30 ton steel blast doors and fleeing out onto the still being terra formed surface of Venus where he was presumed dead.
The other 25 managed to get themselves to the emergency space port and get access to Atori industries escape pods. Where they fled to the first place in the coordinates. The Equivilant to humanities space boonies, Persephone the Tiny kuiper belt dwarf planet just beyond the orbit of Pluto. It just so happened that this was the same planet where most of the fugitives of the atori industries defense force fled too. No transmutation devices, and no company presence. They have spent the past 5 years there living the life of a Cosmic Pioneer. However their peaceful existence is shattered by the arrival of a badly damaged pod from venus and the fleet of atori industries cruisers behind it. Omega 26 had finally made it off of venus and followed the ones he deemed his siblings hoping to enlist their aid.
(Hello y'all. This rp has alot to offer beyond your typical dystopian metahuman story. Each role availible is for that of one of the 25 omegas each of which is a metahuman with high levels of power. Though your also welcome to play the role of a random pioneer, a rebel, a member of Atori industries private military, whatever you want just no aliens for the time being. A note about Omega's, these guys are quite powerful but their abilities are usually restricted to what fits a set. For example Omega 26 was built to be a warrior class, as such his power list includes Superhuman strength, speed, durability, senses, reflexes, and hyper accelerated regeneration, along with manipulation immunity preventing his Mind or Body from being manipulated in any way so as to make him immune to torture, brainwashing, or alterations to his physiology. Unfortunately he was never completed so his higher powers are not yet applied. The other 25 on the other hand are a bit more focused in their designs and granted abilities that compliment one another. For example if an omega has Pyrokinesis they will also have immunity to flames and likely flameporting as well. They don't have to make sense 100% because they ignore physics but they do have to fit a theme and have some way of being dealt with. The only reason 26 made it as far as he did is because they hadn't finished him meaning they didn't put any countermeasures in place and didn't have accurate readings of his capabilities, as you can see by his fleeing the whole planet that is no longer the case. None of the Omega's will be allowed to work with atori industries period. Even if they willingly went back and turned themselves over they would have been put into their cryo tubes again as far as the company is concerned they are not people but property, multi trillion dollar property (if money were still a thing that is).
