TO BEGIN...
Meta heroes have been in the public eye since the first World War, but before them were vigilantes and street-class heroes who fought to preserve justice and political integrity within their cities. Their fight has since continued into the modern age.
Before now, crime was frequent in Arkham City—often considered the crime capital of the United States, if not the world. But that reputation was slowly declining with the rise of the Batman, a new vigilante at the time who was considered an urban legend by the local populace. The Batman was the byproduct of hardened political corruption and a spineless law enforcement.
The Batman began his crusade roughly twelve years ago and was, perhaps, the most-accomplished vigilante of all time and a totem of fear that kept mob bosses and criminals at bay; however, the Batman has since gone missing. His mysterious disappearance left his protege to deal with the vacuum of disorder. With the lack of dominion over a criminal empire now growing, it's up to a new generation of heroes to preserve justice in the face of perversion.
1.CHARACTER CREATION
Characters can be 18+ since we will be using mature themes within this roleplay. And before I go any further, yes you can have another character if you'd like. But a two character max! You're character should be low to no-power, very street-level on that front—obviously. There are plenty of abilities and powers that can be utilized without your character being nigh-omnipotent. And don't forget power restraints and weaknesses, my dear friends. Also, your character shouldn't be overly special. As a reminder, this story will be progressive, and as such it would be much more appropriate to see your character develop in some way. They shouldn't be overly skilled and flawless off the bat. I like to see diversity amongst the lineup too; whether that's in character personalities, ethnicity, gender, etc. One last thing, make a character that you're excited to write for. Don't feel compelled to take part and make a character and then lazily write them. It only brings down the rest of the group and deters the story from progressing.
2.ANTAGONISTS
Antagonists will be cycled through volunteered writers. I will portray the big bad this season, but "smaller" foes and characters of opposition can be written by you, the people. The antagonists should have a big goal, or contribute to the scheme in some way. Remember, they're the opposing forces to our protagonists—obviously.
3.COLLABORATION
Some pieces of work will need to be worked on as a partnership or group. With that being said, here's some groundwork for working on collaborative piece: find time to work on it together or at least come up with ideas; be willing to compromise, you have to give a little to get a little; and, open-editing is acceptable and encouraged, this is a work between two or more people after all. With this said, there will be no dice used in this roleplay unless writers need to settle a debate through chance. Instead, anything that has been written must be taken as "action/lore". If there's a discrepancy, I encourage communication between writers to solve the problem (which could mean retconning details and/or events).
4.POSTING
When posting, your character should either be setting up lore or building the world (action) or responding to someone's established detail (reaction). Posts may be one-liners but should not be frequent. Typically, I'd like to see at least a paragraph from writers (really, I'm just looking for something coherent and logical. In regards to timing of posts, I'll allow a leniency of five days between posts, without mention of emergency or illness. After that, you'll be contacted by me or a fellow GM, and asked if your character can be repossessed.)
5.THE UNIVERSE
This universe is going to be inspired by the likes of the already established "Amalgam Universe", where characters from both DC and Marvel were combined into one character. While you don't have to combine two characters from their respective continuities, you are allowed to. You can replicate a character to the very T, even. Or perhaps you just want to use a character's alias and power set, but change everything else about them, which is totally fine. But if you'd like to create an original character, you're more than welcome to, too.
