Realistic or Modern Silver Oak Academy: Season 1

Hayden Anderson

Hayden gave Brayden a look as he heard him chuckle, he furrowed his eyebrows for a moment as Brayden explained himself. And Hayden joined him laughing, dropping his hand. "Damn, someone wanted to watch the world burn this year." He shook his head. "It's great to meet you Brayden."

"So is it your first year here?" Hayden leaned back against his bed. Hayden was pretty happy to be back at school, but was definitely looking forward to making new friends again this year. Realizing that he didn't even text Madi that he was back on campus, after she made him promise he would. Hayden pulled out his phone and sent her a quick text. 'hey, just got to my dorm, see you later?'

Hayden slipped his phone back into his pocket. "Do you follow the twitter page?" Hayden laughed at how ridiculous the twitter page tended to be a bit chaotic. "Looks like the students are planning a party. Do you want to go?" Hayden hoped that Brayden wasn't one who preferred to hide in the dorms on the weekends, it would suck to have to sneak in after hours and to him sleeping. But, if he didn't like to party Hayden hoped that Brayden wouldn't sell him out to at least.

Harper Anderson

"Just a bit" Harper laughed nervously, the story of the house definitely made her uncomfortable, heck even watching Supernatural scared her to some extent. Harper was glad that her roommate was so personable and easy to talk to, it made it feel like they had already been friends forever. Having a good roommate can be so tough and such a luck of the draw, she had thankfully gotten lucky the past two years now, and hopefully her and Keoka would become friends just like her and Flo had.

"He's super sweet, and very thoughtful. Honestly he was one of my first friends here. We've had a few rough patches the past year due to family, but we've always made it through and come out stronger." Harper could feel her heart flutter when she talked about Chase, "His name is Chase, he's a senior this year, I'll introduce you two tonight!"

Harper Dazzle Dazzle

“Wow. Just hearing you talk about him, I can already see how endearing you two are together.”

Just then, she noticed another new message, this time it was from her father, who reminded her to call Mom. She was supposed to do that right after settling in her dorm. That would explain the previous half-dozen text messages and two missed calls from her mother. Oops. That’s what happens when you put your phone on Silent, she supposed.

“Hey, I’m gonna step out for a bit. I forgot I had to call my mom earlier,” Kekoa said, sending a quick text to her dad. Then, she grabbed a large towel from her bag and picked up a small basket with bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. “Gonna check out the dorm’s bathroom, too. I didn’t get enough time to shower today before the drive here—sorry, that was a bit TMI. See ya later, Harper!”

While leaving the room, she called her mom’s number and stood outside of the dorm bathroom, trying to apologize for calling late, and calmed her mother’s growing anxiety with reasonable reassurance in a hushed tone. Her mother was quite hesitant with the idea of sending her daughter to boarding school. She had been all right with letting Kekoa travel back to Hawaii last summer while staying behind in San Francisco, but that was because Dad was with her at the time. Boarding school was a bit more different, even if her father was working there.

It was best not to let either of her parents know that she was going to a possibly secret welcome-back-to-school party later. Kekoa wanted to have some kind of freedom without feeling like something bad might happen soon.

It was finally Saturday, everyone was moved in and settled for the most part. Carter and JJ were off to a rocky start to say the least, but Carter was pretty sure she had nipped that attitude in the butt real quick. Thankfully, JJ had left sometime ago, and Carter was left alone to her room once again. She changed quickly into a pair of grey jean shorts and a black crop top. Carter had been looking forward to Saturday, she spent her summer alone at Silver Oaks for the most part. There was only two weeks that entire summer where Carter wasn't close to completely alone, one being when she went home to New York, and the other that she spent in Cali with extended family.

She had been stocking up most of the summer, stocking up on booze and weed. Of course she had dipped into it a bit, but she restocked it just as much as she used. Carter packed up a duffel bag and sent a quick text to Tatum as the sun was starting to set. The two of them had made plans to meet up ahead of time and pregame. It was definitely going to be an interesting night, the students of Silver Oaks always came home with a bang. Chaos was sure to ensue and Carter planned to have a front row seat to it. As long as their wasn't a repeat of last year where they almost got a student killed cough Stu.

Carter was just waiting on Tatum now, after convincing her to meet her outside of her second story window. Carter knew she wouldn't get past the security guard without getting her black duffel checked and figured her best bet was to toss it out the window to Tatum. Hopefully, without breaking anything. Carter was not known for being one of the most well behaved of students on campus.

Carter finished packing her bag with a few more bottles, slipping a few joints into the side pocket. She felt her phone buzz and reached into her pocket pulling out her phone with a text from Tatum saying she was here. She made her way over to the window, sliding it open to see Tatum starring up her. "Catch." Carter smirked wickedly. As she tossed the duffel bag out the window, following it out herself. She climbed onto the over hang of the roof and onto the tree beside her window. Swinging down onto the final branch. She dropped herself down beside Tatum. "Hey." She dusted herself off. "Good to see you again." Carter gave her a half-assed side hug and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "So observatory?"

------

Carter and Tatum could be found sitting by the lake smoking a joint as they waited for the other students to show up. They had wanted to start the bonfire, but knew that Sawyer was likely to strangle the two of them if they started it without her. The two of them had convinced the football jocks to borrow without permission a few fold up tables from the school. It hadn't taken much convincing, no one could ever say no to this duo. Carter and Tatum had set up a game of beerpong, and a table for the booze. How they ended up being the suppliers and the go to girls for setting up for the school parties, they would never know.

Carter took a long drag from her joint before leaning back on her elbows against the grass behind her. She noticed the other students starting to show up as the sun had disappeared and the moon took its place. The stars lit up the night so it wasn't too hard to see where they were going. Granted intoxicated teens may not be able to see too well, but that was what Sawyer's bonfire was for, right?

"I guess it's time to kick off the new year." Carter smirked pushing herself off the ground and offering her hand to Tatum. She took a final drag of her joint before stomping the end of it into the ground. "I think its time for another drink."

Tatum had been ready for Saturday, like any first week or really first day back at Silver Oak a party was already in the works. Tatum had extended an offer to Grace to help the girl at least get to know people. She had pulled out her backpack and stuffed it with liquor and other contraband that if she got caught with, she would have a lot of explaining to do but a backpack wasn’t suspicious, and she made sure to always get decent grades. Of course, she wasn’t explaining anything to her roomie as she pulled bottles out and put them in her bag, it was a party and Tatum was one of the providers for the full enjoyment. She had received a text from Carter to meet up early and pregame which was everything Tatum needed, especially after dealing with her aunt for two weeks, and the long phone call from her father telling her she had to be on her best behavior. She was representing the name that was the Browne’s or at least that’s what her father had said over the phone, and she didn’t care all that much. She wasn’t about to be told what to do when he wasn’t even going to be in the country for the next however many months.

She had gathered her items and met up with Carter and of course helped her friend sneak out the essentials for the party. She returned the pleasantries with Carter before making their way to the observatory. Tatum wasn’t the closest with Carter, but she always had fun with the girl and of course she always had some of the best stuff. She had really only gotten to know her through Alaska, but it was better than nothing and because of the parties she wound up meeting others. Sure, she wasn’t super close with most anyone, but it was nice to have people to party with.

Once they had finished setting up Tatum had taken a drag from the joint, “I hope this party sets the tone for the rest of the year.” She let herself rest in the grass enjoying the sky as the sun was going down, “I kind of missed this place, better than home sometimes.” As soon as others started to arrive Tatum took Carters hand to help her up and she gave her a smile, “Let’s make it a night they won’t forget.” It was nice to already be a bit buzzed before others arrived, she wanted to have as much fun as she could before the homework and tests would make it more difficult.

It was that following day of the dorm move-in, after waking up two minutes later, when Colby realized that he had unintentionally planned a date for the party—he should’ve known right away after being called “babe”. He was careless with his words on Twitter, but how does one make it clear that the date would be non-romantic without actually saying it would be non-romantic? And without hurting her feelings, that was important, too.

Perhaps that’s why he was drinking a little early before the party, arriving outside the girl’s dormitory as promised. He casually sipped from an unassuming ocean-blue stainless steel water bottle that could fit well enough in his inner brown leather jacket pocket and hold a decent amount of water. But instead of water, the bottle contained a whiskey and coke mixture that he made two days ago. Well, maybe there was an ounce or two of water inside. Colby wasn’t in any hurry to get drunk right away. He was just barely tipsy, only having 2 or 3 tiny sips so far, and had eaten dinner earlier. He was still sober enough to keep a good balance while approaching a bench beside the dorm entrance to sit down on.

A minute after being seated, he took one last sip—more like a short gulp really—before stowing the bottle away in his inner jacket pocket, and sent a text to Aeliana that he was here.

Colby didn’t actually regret meeting Aeliana Longford during the summer. In fact, he didn’t think anything negative towards her, unlike some/most people here. Sure, she had a sort of haughty attitude and was often a tad harsh to a lot of people, but at least she was honest and confident… in her own way. And somehow, Colby didn’t believe she was that bad or stiff—not after that first night with her a couple of months ago, anyway. Maybe he should, but being a constant cynic wasn’t his shtick.

"Oh my stars!" Madeleine jumped out of her skin at her new roommate's entrance. "Hello. Yes I'm Madeleine, Madi usually. Nice to meet you," she held out her hand in greeting. "I took the left side of the room, I hope you don't mind. I can always swap though if you prefer?" Heck she was babbling again; sadly something she did around new people sometimes, especially when she wanted to make them happy and she definitely wanted a happy roommate- or at least one that didn't dislike her. "Also um... no I don't swear. My parents don't like it if I do."

****

I'm outside she text Hayden as she tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear outside the Red Oak dorm. Safe to say she was so glad she did have to head over to the observatory on her own, especially given how many pairs and groups of people were heading past her to the party already. In the coming weeks Madi would surely get her confidence back up, especially once lacrosse practice was underway, but for now she was still completely in perfect daughter mode. Looking at some of the footwear girls were wearing made her glad she's been sensible however and worn a pair of brown pumps with her dress rather than heels which would undoubtedly just cause problems on the grass by the end of the night, or the beginning of the morning depending on what time people finished partying.

After spending his summer vacationing across the globe, returning to Silver Oak felt like being admitted to a prison colony. He could've been surfing in Fiji, or dirtbiking in the deserts back home. Instead, he was here. Oregon. The middle of nowhere. Sure, it was pretty and Silver Oak had it's moments, but Eli wanted adventure and after flying to a new resort every other week, the place paled in comparison. He was already a day late. He'd intentionally missed his flight, bargaining for one more day of freedom. Every other student had met their roommates the day before, Eli was only just arriving on campus.

He sat quietly in the back of the driver's car, eyes locked on his cellphone. He smiled on occasion, fooling around on twitter, despite the fact he seemed to be the butt of the joke more often than not. He had every intention of going to the party tonight, but even if he didn't want to, Eli would have felt obligated. Everything was about looking good. Being popular. Honestly, parties were exhausting. Eli always felt like he had to be the center of attention, and at a party that meant drinking the most, smoking the most, and getting with any cute blonde in a short skirt. Eli always regretted it all the next day. Always. And not just because the hangovers.

"We're here, Mr. Turner."

The driver's voice snapped Eli back into reality. Out of his day dream and into the real world. He took deep breath before nodding his head and watching the driver get out to get his door for him.

The air outside felt cold, at least in comparison to the tropical paradise Eli had just come from. Goosebumps sprang up down his arms and he shuddered at the soft breeze of air that blew through the back of the black Mercedes. "You sure we can't just take a few laps 'round the campus?" Eli pleaded, earning a gruff chuckle from the driver.

"And give yer Old Man an excuse to fire me? I don't think so, Mr. Turner." The driver responded with a sideways grin, only a slight look of pity in his eyes. "Out, ya are."

Eli took his time putting his phone and headphones back into his pocket, like he was hoping the driver would change his mind. Anything to delay returning back to school. His stomach sank when he realized the Driver was still waiting there with the door held open. The Aussie reluctantly slid out of the vehicle, only softly muttering to himself about how much he hated Silver Oak.

It's not like Eli even hated the school though. He didn't even hate the students or the staff. He hated the anxiety of it all. Always feeling like there was someone to impress. Always worried about who might be watching, or who might see if he messed up or made a fool out of himself. Walking back onto Silver Oak's campus felt like stepping on a stage. Only no matter what jokes he told or what little dance he did, the crowd never stopped booing. He always felt like he wasn't doing enough, desperately seeking his peer's approval, all while trying not to look desperate. Money doesn't make you a robot. Eli just wanted to be liked, just like everyone else.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

He was already running late to this party. He felt like he was anyways. Elie was the type of guy who'd show up half an hour early because he was stressed, but then wait in his car for forty-five minutes because it'd be weird to show up so early. He over thought everything, social events included.

Besides it all, Eli was showing up empty handed. It was impolite to go to a party and not bring drinks or something, right?

It wasn't long before the murmurs of teenagers turned to outright hollering and Eli found himself in the middle of the whole shebang. The lake would have been peaceful if it weren't for all the buzzed teenagers frolicking up and down the coast. It was technically a beach party though, and with that came expectations. Off came Eli's shirt. despite everything that Eli was anxious or self conscious about, his looks were one of the few things that he had full confidence in. He'd take any opportunity he got to show off a little bit. He may have been cursed with the anxiety of a possum, but he had abs like a Greek God.

He was just stuffing his shit into the back of his shorts when he saw Tatum and Carter passing around a joint. "Y'all gonna share that, or you gonna make a guy beg?" He asked with that perfect smile of his. It'd better be perfect. He'd practiced it in the mirror more times than he could count.

Ryker Flynn Thompson

"You are being dragged to a party against your will." Ryker was muttering to himself, but he wasn't really being dragged physically, only emotionally by Carter but that was a very physical occasion. If he fell asleep now, Ryker was guaranteed to wake up in the morning to a phone that was blown up with messages that would make him guilty about not going, so he was going to go this party and suck it up. It was around the time this little party was supposed to start, Ryker liked to be late, when he started to actually get ready for the occasion with a plan to get out of the dorms within the next fifteen minutes.

Ryker didn't give a damn about first impression, so his outfit choice reflected his 'no-fucks given' attitude that he was so well known, a white tank top covered by the most ratty looking black leather jacket and a pair of jeans that had the knees ripped. Every article of clothing he had brought with him to the United States had seen better days, but Ryker had decided that he was never going to return to his shithole of a house or family ever again so possibly some new clothes would be in order one day. His grandfather, Marcus, had talked about sending him some money once Ryker had gotten all settled in. He took a long minute to look at himself in the mirror, his eyes had a hard sheen on them that exuded the hardness he felt deep down in his soul and his broken heart but he was going to pack away all of his feelings tonight and just have fun. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath before breathing it out, opening his eyes up as he stared back at himself in the mirror. "Make the best of it...It is your senior year." The corners of his lips flared up and a smile was on his lips, his eyes brightened up as he grabbed his phone and jogged out the door without a second thought so that he could get to this party without anymore emotional blackmail.

It wasn't long before he was the party, he thought it was going to be small, but it was he was surprised by the crush of people who were there and the thump of the music resonated through his bones. This really reminded him of some of the antics he got up to back in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, underground parties with illcit drugs and beautiful people were always the best. There were faces Ryker could recognize, people who had also arrived early like him and he was quick to hop in to mingle with them for a few minutes. It wasn't long before he was able to find Carter and her bright red hair, pretty outstanding in the little group of people she was with, Ryker slowly made his wave over to her. "I'm here, are you happy now? Can I go back to my dorm?" He had a beer bottle held by neck, his fingers grasping lightly on the cool glass. His dark eyes were quick to glance around the group to those surrounding them, the bubbly blonde who was Carter's partner in crime and the shirtless caper who sounded suspiciously like him,
Jesus what did I get myself into...

Carter understood what Tatum meant, she probably understood it better than Tatum did. Silver Oaks was better than home, for Carter at least. As Tatum accepted Carter's hand as she hoisted the little blonde off the ground. "A night that they may not remember, but definitely won't forget." She said with a wink. It wasn't long till they were joined by a voice she couldn't forget. Everyone knew Eli, and not just for his accent, and as much as Carter wished that she wasn't associated with him. He was one of her only close friends at this asylum.

Carter turned to see Eli only standing a few feet away from them. She smirked at first noticing the blonde boy, the best friend that she missed. Anndd then she realized the dumbass had already taken his shirt off. Rolling her eyes she placed both her hands in her back pockets before she walked over towards Eli. Carter got within a few inches of Eli, and let eyes drift down to his bare chest for just a moment before she looked back up in his eyes. "I mean." She twisted a piece of hair around her fingers. "I would love to see you on your knees." She whispered rather audibly. Carter was only able to hold a straight face for a few moments before she started laughing.

Carter wrapped her arms around Eli's neck, "I missed you asshole." She pulled back and giving him a quick kiss him on the cheek. She let go and took a step back reaching into her front pocket she pulled out a freshly rolled joint. "How about I do you one better." As she held it out towards him, patting her back pockets looking for her lighter. Carter looked over her shoulder back at Tatum, "Hey, do you have my lighter?" Carter was happy to be around her friends again, she didn't need any substances to feel high right now. Though they did enhance everything and make it that much better.

Carter looked back towards Eli and heard another Aussie accent that she couldn't mistake. Ryker was new, but they had been hanging out the past week or so since they were the two of the few that happened to move in early. Carter had pretty much corrupted him into dealing with her on a daily basis, mostly out of her own pure boredom.

"Hey there goat-boy." She smiled looking around Eli to see him. "No, you cannot take one beer and leave. That's just no fair, how will you meet anyone." Carter was starting to crave a drink. "However, you do have perfect timing, now I have both of my Aussies here." She stood back up, "Eli, this is Ryker, or as I affectionately refer to as goat-boy." She smirked wickedly, running a hand through her hair. "Ryker, this is Eli, and Tatum." As she turned to point to the blonde standing by her. "Y'all should talk about shrimp on the barbie or something." The smirk on her lips showed that she knew how annoying she had been with her random mainstream mentions of anything from Australia.

Hayden Anderson
source.gif

Hayden had finally finished unpacking his suitcase and backpack. In Hayden fashion, he had left it till the last minute, and pretty much threw everything into random drawers that he would likely regret later. The only reason he had even bothered to unpack was because his sister had yelled at him and threatened to paste his baby pictures all over the school if he didn't set himself up for classes on Monday. Harper wasn't wrong, this weekend would of been full of partying and bad decisions and he wouldn't have been even remotely ready for school Monday. Of course she cared more about that than Hayden did.

Hayden had bothered to take a shower right before, throwing on a plain white tee, a flannel, and a pair of jeans. Hayden made his way back to his room, he couldn't wait to be a senior so that he wouldn't have to share a bathroom with the entire floor at school. It would be a blessing to only share it with the same people always. "Hey, you almost ready?" He looked over at Brayden as he picked his phone up off the desk. Seeing a text from Madi that she was here. He smirked, quickly texting her back

'Guess you must be excited, I told you I'd pick YOU up.'

"My friend Madi is outside. Do you need to grab anything before we go?" Hayden reached under his bed pulling out a flask that he had filled with whisky earlier that day.

------

Hayden walked out of the building with Brayden, seeing the familiar blonde standing at the front of the building. "Hey Madi!." He smirked. Nudging her with his elbow. "This is Brayden, the lucky guy who gets to share a room with me this year." He chuckled. "So you guys ready to party?"

Elias Walker
The past summer had been a long, and tiring one for Elias, just like they'd been since he was adopted. Returning home was always a highlight for him, something he consciously looked forward to throughout the Silver Oak school year. It wasn't a knock on his friends, teachers, or coaches, Elias was just a family man, and was always at ease being with the people that'd taken him in those years ago. A loyal hound was what he was, and without his loving owners- well, he just wasn't as his best. It wasn't uncommon for him to have mental breakdowns, or for him to feel sick when he missed home. This was the sort of thing that also made his friends so dear to him, the only people that truly came close to filling the void that was his foster family.

Asides from being at the comfort of home, the summer always included hours of hard work for Elias, and his adoptive father, Wendell Walker. Gone from middle school coach, to father, Wendell understood Elias' training regime, along with his areas of improvement, and areas of expertise. Before the school year had ended, Elias had lead Silver Oak's basket ball team to their best record in years, and had even been asked to play on the football team, something new he'd try in his junior year. But along with setting records for being a stellar athlete, he also recorded the highest technical fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. He'd somehow managed to both impress, and disappoint his father. Still, Wendell was a loving man, and that summer hoped to discipline Elias through rigorous workouts and exercise. The greatest punishment of all though, was having to complete a 200-page book a week. Elias was far from a scholar, and was damn near at the bottom of his class academically. But since the reading of countless books that summer, he now felt he had an even greater understanding, something he hoped would be an advantage come school-time.

***

Elias was definitely surprised when he pushed open the doors of his dorm. He was late in his return to Silver Oak, like he was every year, and to his surprise, he was either going to have a dorm to himself... or somehow his roommate was even later than him. He just shook his head slightly at the thought, before shutting the door behind him, and moving deeper into the room. Elias enjoyed the idea of having a room to himself, perhaps it'd help him focus on his schoolwork all the more. He dumped the contents of his suitcase onto his bed, and tossed the duffel bag filled with athletic gear over to the foot of his bed. To aid him in his preparation come the morning of school days, Elias made an extra effort to sort the contents he'd had sprawled over his bed. Something that took an awful lot longer than it probably should've, just due to how indecisive he'd been, and how upset that'd made him. But eventually the junior was finished, and even then his roommate hadn't arrived, something he reacted to with a dull shrug.

He turned to his drawers, and pulled out some clothing apparel to sport at the back to school party. Elias was definitely not a fan of the great outdoors, and opted to wear a light hoodie, with a plain black t-shirt underneath. With enough focus, one could make out the thin, golden necklace that adorned his neck, and the petite pendant of a cross that hung loosely. Elias loved his jewelry, and it'd been a big deal for him the year before when someone had tried to steal one of his silver chains from the dressing room. The whole predicament ended in Elias having bloody knuckles, and an appointment with the guidance counselor, and another student having been forced home to recover in the hospital. Elias shuddered at the thought, he hated the sudden rush of adrenaline he always got in fights. He hated that he loved them. But this year, he'd promised to his father that he'd finish junior year with a clean slate.. and so he'd have to learn to resolve matters with words. Likely a lesson he ought to go to Madi with for some advice.

Following the hoodie, he added a pair of faded jeans under the bright red hoodie, and under his jeans as usual were a pair of shorts. Just in case he had to strip down to them, and play a sport. An athlete could never be too prepared. His feet were covered in a pair of comfy white sneakers, ears adorned with bright diamond earrings, and so his outfit was finished. Elias took a moment to ponder at his reflection in the mirror, focus drifting from his brown eye to green eye, and then to his rough hair, and hardly shaven chin. The riff-raff look was something he owned, and he figured his good sense in fashion masked it well enough. Elias hated getting clean hair cuts, or the like, because they all tend to fade after a good game of hoops or football. So he opted for the more rougher look.

Before exiting his dormitory, Elias slid his phone into his pocket, along with a pack of tooth picks packed into his hoodie pocket, and a small can of whiskey. He had a habit of chewing on tooth picks, something he used to get over his smoking addiction. Wasn't good for his sports. But he could never pass up a good kanteen of whiskey though. With a final sigh, Elias pushed the door of his dorm, and headed to the spot of the party outside, eager to re-acquaint himself with his friends after the two or so month break.

He was well into the clearing of the party, and the music had already began reverberating throughout his spine. "Crikey, that's awfully loud." Elias told himself as he walked. Perhaps the fact he'd been away from Silver Oak for just a summer had weakened his immunity to the loud sounds of its music. He angled his chin slightly as his ears adjusted to the sound, scrunching up his mouth slightly in annoyance. As he walked, Elias began to notice the smell of hard liquor, and contraband seeping into the air. Quickly, he popped a tooth pick into the corner of his lips, huffing and puffing once again. The cold air of the outside didn't help either, and his anger only worsened when the mosquitoes buzzed past.

Just as if in the nick of time though, Elias spotted the dirty blonde man-bun of who he preferred to call Lincoln, he found it odd having to call another man by his own name. Around him sat the ginger he quickly recalled as Carter Zigmond, resident bad girl who was undoubtedly one of the smartest girls-- people, in the academy. Third was the ginger, Tatum Browne, who for some reason seemed to always linger in the back of Elias' skull. Perhaps a crush, he wasn't too aware what he was feeling. But he enjoyed whenever Tatum was of company. And lastly was a newer male, with short, and light brown hair that Elias just couldn't put a finger on. He'd have to acquaint himself when he arrived.

Elias smiled down at the two girls in the group, and up-nodded Ryker before turning to Lincoln. He stretched out a hand, and carried out their signature handshake, one so intricate and unique it'd put others in awe. His smile couldn't help but widen as they finished the last slap on the hand, before turning his back to the nature, and facing the people before him. "Hiya, to you lot. Glad to be back at the academy." Elias started, his accent thick with his English tongue. "Didn't take you two long to start another kicker, idn't it?" He smirked, and nodded between Tatum and Carter, before taking a last glance behind him. The Silver Oak student body gathered fast, and partied hard, there was no question about it. It was one of the things he loved the most about the school, even with the drama and turmoil that may boil between them all, they all knew how to get together for a good bash.

With that, he turned his eyes over to the newer boy, and tipped the end of the toothpick between his lips over at him. "Seems we've not acquainted ourselfs, laddie. I'm Elias- don't let him fool you," Shooting a playful glare towards Lincoln at his side. "I'm the original Eli. But I tend to go by Elias more often not." Elias finished, eyes bouncing between the group. Ah, how he'd missed the academy.

It wasn’t too long before people had begun to arrive and Tatum couldn’t help but roll her eyes as she saw Eli take his shirt off, though it was nice view. She wasn’t one to deny herself the small pleasures in life and looking at a shirtless Eli was a pleasure for her. Not that she really wanted much from him, hell she didn’t want much from anyone except to have fun. Of course, he wasn’t someone she knew well, but Eli was still part of the party crowd, so she knew him well enough, though she didn’t consider him much of a friend at least not at the same level as Carter. She let her eyes look at Eli’s body before returning her attention to his face, “I think Eli has earned a hit,” she shrugged a little, “He did come bearing gifts.” Which he had. Alcohol was the best gift of a party and Tatum loved booze when at a party, any other time she really could have cared less. The hangover the unhappiness of her stomach, Tatum only needed booze when she was with others having a fun time and she could let herself just have fun.

It was in those few seconds that Tatum saw another male approach one she hadn’t met, and he knew Carter and Australian. What were the odds that Carter knew two Australians at Silver Oak? Of course, he hadn’t seemed thrilled about being at the party but she knew Carter was hard to say no to, it was something the two of them had in common, “Well, new Australian boy you need to have a little fun,” she gave him a smile before she took a drink from her flask. His name had gone in her brain and then had left, she really hated learning new names because she always forgot them, but she would ask Carter later what his name was again, for now she would call him Australian boy.

She heard a slightly familiar voice of Elias, he typically appeared at parties, but Tatum hadn’t known him well and she gave him a smile and nod. She offered him her flask, “It’s laced with mushrooms.” She didn’t mind sharing but she wanted to make sure the group as a whole knew it wasn’t liquor. She let her eyes scan for her boy toy, but she hadn’t seen him yet, though she knew he was on campus. It wasn’t like she wanted anything serious, but she missed having fun and it had been the whole summer without Zach. She was also looking for Brayden and she hoped he was having fun too. She knew she would have to catch up with him eventually.

Brayden wasn’t shocked that he was being forced to go the party, if it hadn’t been Hayden it would’ve been Tatum and really it was easier to make an appearance than to fight it. He had been to a few parties in his life but that didn’t mean they were his scene, the drinking, the drugs, the hormonal teenagers all around each other. He could do without all of it, but it was at least a way for him to get to know people. He had followed Hayden outside where he saw a petite blonde, and she seemed nice enough from at least the look of her. He really wasn’t sure yet but if he had Hayden’s approval then she probably wasn’t bad, though Brayden barely knew Hayden. He was just giving his trust out and hoping for the best.

He extended his hand to Madi, “Nice to meet you.” He wasn’t necessarily excited for the party, but Hayden sure seemed like was excited, “Yeah, dude should be fun. I’ll have to let you meet Tatum if you haven’t met her. He really wasn’t sure who knew who at this school, but he only knew his roommate and his childhood friend. So, he wasn’t as knowledgeable as others that had been here. He knew of names like Zach, Carter, and Colby but he didn’t really know what any of them looked like, so he hoped to get the chance to put faces to the names he had heard so much about.

You wouldn't be able to tell from his demeanor, but Eli was looking forward to the weed more than anything else the party had to offer. Yeah, pretty girls were fine and dandy, but that wacky-tobacky was like salvation. Relaxing. Peace. Like pressing the mute button on the anxious storm swirling in his stomach. He didn't wait before taking the joint from Carter and lighting it up. A long drag, another, a few minutes everything would be alright.

Carter's playful flirting elicited a eyebrow raise from Eli, followed by a laugh. Sure, Carter was pretty, but that'd be like kissing his sister. (Not that Eli had any sisters.) The kiss on the cheek was as far as they'd ever go. He was sure of that one. As careless as Eli tried to act, he wasn't going to throw away his one true friendship for a one night fling. God save whatever drongo broke her heart though, Eli would break a nose, assuming Carter didn't beat him to it. "Is it just me, are have you gotten shorter since I saw ya last?" Eli teased, smiling down at Carter in between short puffs from the joint.

Before Carter could fire back with what would have been an undoubtedly witty comeback, another guy joined the group, followed by Elias. Eli went through the handshake and the normalities with Elias, it was like muscle memory at this point, but his attention was on Ryker. Another Aussie. Another Handsome Aussie. He popped back when Elias made his introductions.

"Elias is just mad he's living in my shadow." He teased back, holding the joint out for Elias to take. Even talking to Elias, Eli's eyes stayed locked on Ryker.

Eli already didn't like the other Aussie for the simple fact that they were too similar.

He's going to replace you. Look, Goat-Boy and Carter are already friends.

Jealousy flared, though Eli did good to hide it. Silver Oak was his. Eli didn't like to share. His eyes narrowed as he looked Ryker up and down. "Trying to leave already, Goat-boy?" He asked, flashing a cocky lopsided grin. "Already buggered, or you just up yourself?" He went on.

Eli felt more in control now. Elias had his back, Tatum was eyeing him up and down, and more people would be arriving with every passing moment.

Goat-Boy is a nobody. Eli told himself. There was comfort in that, so long as it stayed that way. It's why Eli always seemed to have a little entourage. It made him feel confident to have people just following him around. Validation.

Vered Demsky

Vered had been as straight-laced a kid could be. Kept his teeth clean and his nose out of trouble. He'd never told a lie that could really get him in trouble, never cheated on a test, he'd only ever drank on Passover and other holidays that demanded it. He almost never swore, he got good grades, he was quiet and humble and everything a parent could want from their son. All the Jewish grandmas loved pinching his cheeks.

So maybe he'd never been to a party.

Well, he'd been to birthday parties. He went to nana's house for Chanukkah and seder and all sorts of things. He'd had a bar mitzvah that would've totally blown his school friends away if he had any, his mom had hired a magician and everything. Their loss!

But never like... that kind of party. You know. The ones where they bring booze and you don't only drink in accordance with the Haggaddah. He wasn't that kind of kid. Of course, he was a bit young for the sport, and he'd also just never been invited to one, but why the heck would he go, anyway? He wasn't a loser, he didn't need that stuff. He chose not to go. It was his decision.

But why was he going to this one?

It wasn't like he needed to prove anything to anybody. If they believed he was a chicken, or a pussy, or some other sort of animal, they could continue right on doing so. It harmed him none. But, hey, maybe that was just their way of inviting him, and turning it down on the first week of school wouldn't really be nice. He agreed to go, for one reason or another. Maybe he was just a little bit excited. Just the tiniest bit! He'd been studying all week, so it wouldn't hurt to kick back with some orange soda and have a good time.

He took a walk to the observatory, getting lost multiple times on the way before finally finding a small crowd. He didn't know any of these people. They all felt... big. Like adults. What the hell was he doing here? This wasn't his place.

He arrived in a larger group of people, vaguely recognizing a couple of them from their Twitter icons. Tater tot girl, and... Eli? Was that short for something? Then a couple others who he had no recollection of whatsoever. And Vered, well, he must've looked a real dork in his hand-knit yarmulke and patterned suspenders. The only thing missing was the glasses, which he did technically need, but worried about them getting broken, so he wore contacts for the night. He'd also stuffed his bright red inhaler in his front pants pocket, and stood like he didn't know what to do.

"Hhhh-" He coughed. "Hello."

🅕🅛🅞🅡🅔🅝🅒🅔

The week went by without a hitch, which frightened her to no end. She was curious about her classes, she saw her friends and made a new one with Meera. Her bed was comfortable and the map had gained a new star in Egypt. Most nights, she found herself wordlessly scrolling through Twitter and Instagram, following people she did and didn’t know at Silver Oak. And that’s when she learned of the party.

It tore her in two, as she knew Harper and Ellie would almost always go to parties, Florence always opted to stay in bed or study. Sometimes she went, but parties weren’t really her scene. That was more suited for Naomi, her sister was literally the life of the party. Naomi is so sociable... I can do that. I did it this summer. She had actually gone to beach parties and drove around in boys cars this past summer! Granted. It was with her sister. I can do it this year. Go to more parties. Be more out there. Just like Naomi and everyone else. She stared at her phone on Saturday, finding herself still laying in bed as time drew near.

Of course she was having second thoughts. What if Harper or Ellie isn’t there? I’ve never gone without them. She felt herself spiraling until she finally gripped her knuckles and hauled herself out of bed to get ready. I can do it. I can be like Naomi. She went in her closet and found some good ‘party’ clothes. At least she would like to think so. She stared at her curls, enjoying them for once as she slipped on her shoes. She wasn’t going to force Meera to go with her to the party, even though she wanted to. All she did was leave before she got back and left a note saying she going to the party if she wanted to come. Heading over, she saw groups of people heading there too. She underestimated how hectic and crowded ‘back to school’ parties were. And Carter Zigmond was hosting it, the girl brought in a crowd. Not to mention athlete stars and popular people coming out. Although, isn’t everyone popular at Silver Oak? Florence made it to the party and tried her best to not let her nerves get the best of her as she surveyed the crowd. Did she know anyone here? Better yet. Did anyone even know her? She paused when she saw the punch bowl besides some booze on those pop up tables. A drink sounded nice, but she frowned when she realized she would have to slide by people. Right. She walked over and only one person stepped on her toes, it wasn’t half bad. She poured herself a drink and raised her phone up for a picture. Smiling for a moment, she took the selfie before a frown made its way back up to her face. Life of the party. I need them here I can’t even dance well. She looked up to the observatory then down at the drink, downing it before looking down at her phone to check Twitter and Instagram to see who was here once again.

Zachary Lee

Summer of 19’ was raw and wild. His greed in green wanted it to last longer—wait till the cratered moon was once full again and tides were mad and black. The water would be damned to overflow in the face of the netted stars much as functionality, and as each red cup would slam down, the chants would get louder. “Drink, drink, drink!” Pushing off the bar, there would be a lifetime of light, seducing and excessive in hysterical colors, flashing dirtily through and out so frequently that the grinding strangers would become faceless, and with it, so would Zachary Lee.

But for now, Zachary Lee was back—more glorious and of a more vicious physique than ever. Abdominals chiseled out by the dead depth of the ocean took the place of washboard flatness and there was a new alchemy fizzing in his eyes.

“Dad, you’re an old man. Stop worrying. When have I ever been any different?”

His face brooks with an impenetrable angelically-devilish-by-nature smile, simply resplendent as if the previous chapters of his life were never there in the first place.

“No, seriously. Yeah. Ok. Go perform that surgery, doc. Call me next year,” he wet his lips, voice over the phone, “That was a joke. I’ll talk later.”

The other end of the phone would stretch in a few locomotive footsteps and buzzes before it would go silent. Time would clock, and Zachary Lee would change into an open white button-up and boardwalk shorts. There was something within him, a type of good morning farewell, a lavishly alive American dream that was so brimming, so foolish, but so golden.

Constellations awaited to jump sparks across the electric sky. Oregon had the landscape for the night as did the observatory. The air was cherry vodka, addictively candy, but diluted with fumes and smogs. Cross-legged chicks bent forward in their chairs in their gleaning gossip and a few freshmen engaged in back-slapping and swallowing beers in the mad excuse of getting a name. There were dancers, some thronged in the passion of the work of rhythm. Partakers of gamblers crowded a table of cards, and shy girls rubbed their elbows as if the temperatures plummeted.

Zachary Lee was familiar to most faces like the famous Turner or Zigmond, and as his long limbs ate up distance, he briefly sought the only brown eyes that were even close to beautiful. Tatum Browne was like honey: bee-stinging when it came to major-league flirtations, but at the same time cheekily friendly. Surrounded by his distant friends, he only gave her a wink from afar, pearly whites smiling.

He had poured himself a drink as he awaited his other friends being none other than Harper, Noah, and Chase.

The drive to Silver Oak was long and frankly pretty awkward. Ian still wasn't really used to living with his aunt, especially because of the stories he'd heard about her. He didn't know her that well and hadn't even met her until he was about ten. His parents didn't exactly...agree with some of her choices, but never elaborated further than that. When Ian had become withdrawn his parents had tried everything to get him back to the way he used to be. Their last resort had been to send him to live with his aunt, she was a therapist and hopefully she'd be able to help him, and just maybe the change of scenery would also be good for him.

In the months that he lived with her though Ian barely spoke to his aunt, at least not in the therapy sense. It just all felt wrong and he didn't even need therapy anyway so he felt it was pointless. He talked with his cousin more so than his aunt. She was cool. At first she seemed standoffish and rude, but Ian eventually learned that she had a heart underneath her rough exterior.

When the car finally pulled up to the school Ian got out without a word, leaving his aunt and his cousin behind. "I'll keep an eye on him. It's not my job but you can thank me later." his cousin said before collecting her things and saying goodbye to her mother. She caught up to Ian and gently shouldered him. "I promised my mom I'd keep an eye on you, so no dying ok? You have my number if you want to talk or whatever, but you got your own friends right?" Ian shrugged. He had met a few people over the summer that went to this school. He was even going to be rooming with one of them, which was a huge relief. "Dope. Don't like be a stranger though. There's worse people that I could be kinda related to. If you need anything, don't hesitate. I know my way round here. Day one tip; go to the first party of the year. It'll help you...get in with these savages. Maybe you'll meet a babe, who knows..." she trailed off and looked into the distance at nothing. "Anyway, catch ya round dude." with that she walked off to settle in to her own dorm.

Ian entered into his own dorm and found it to be empty so far. He set his things down against the wall between the two beds. He didn't really care which bed he got so he left it up for his roommate, Colby, to decide. He then went about exploring the campus. He tried his best to not really interact with anyone, avoiding eye contact with those he passed by. A couple times he was forced to give polite greetings or explain to an adult he was just wandering campus getting a feel for the layout. Ian did not end up going back to his room that night. At some point in the late afternoon he had made his way into some nearby woods. He enjoyed being alone in nature like this. It brought back fond memories of camping with his family before his parents were too busy to be bothered. His father had taught him some basic survival skills and and had fascinated him. He used to beg to be able to go full wild when camping and sleep in his own constructed shelter. He never was actually allowed, but he always made one.

Almost as if out of habit Ian got to work on building a shelter out of a tree that had fallen into the crook of another. These woods had something almost otherworldly to them, oddly comforting. He suspected that he would spend a fair amount of time here. By the time he was satisfied with his work it was getting dark. He spent the night in his shelter with little sleep. He wasn't really tired, much of his time leading up to arriving at Silver Oak was spent sleeping and he had grown weary of it. He could have, and probably should've gone back to his room but he wasn't up to all that excitement yet. For now he just wanted to be alone with his thoughts.

When the morning light peeked through the treetops Ian finally made his way back to the school grounds proper. He hoped he'd be able to find that little shelter again later on. Maybe he'd even build his own entire campsite to stake out in when he was feeling down or stressed. This school was sure to cause a lot of stress throughout the year.

Ian showered and continued to explore the surprisingly large campus for the day until he received a message from his cousin in the afternoon. She told about a lakeside party going on tonight and coerced him into going. Figuring it would be nice to know a friendly face their Ian texted his roommate to see if he was going. After a brief exchange Ian agreed to third wheel for Colby and made his way to where he agreed to meet his friend. He spotted the male he met at the beginning of the summer and made his way over, a small smile resting on his face. "Y'know it's kinda creepy for a guy to be just standing around outside the girl's dorm right?" he said with a joking smirk. "It's been a little while, how have you been?" 0k_mang0 0k_mang0

Colby looked up from his smartphone when he heard a familiar voice speaking directly to him, and found a friendly familiar face approaching his way that put a genuine grin on Colby’s face.

“Well, it’s a good thing I’m sitting on this bench in front of the girls’ dorm, just looking at my phone harmlessly... yeah, that doesn’t sound any less creepy.” He chuckled awkwardly at himself for that. “Good to see my favorite guitar teacher.” Colby walked up to Ian and greeted him with a bro-hug, giving him a few good pats on the back. It was great to finally see a familiar friend at this school. Colby hadn’t really talked to many people, at least not in person, since moving to the dorms. The thought of being in a new strange place made him slightly on edge and unusually reclusive since then.

Another good reason for Ian to show up: any later and Colby would’ve gotten half-drunk from his hidden cocktail stash the more he kept focused on his thoughts alone. Public intoxication was not something he wanted on his record, especially while in front of the girls’ dorm.

“I’ve been doing all right. Made a couple of more new friends. Helped Grandpa Jim ‘round Sleeping Hedgehog, trying not to give my relatives a reason to ship me off to military school or whatever’s far away—the usual,” he said with a casual shoulder shrug, walking back to the bench. He patted the spot beside him for Ian to sit on. “How about you, dude? Sorry I didn’t get to catch you last night. Travel got a bit delayed or something?”

Isabelle proved to be an interesting roommate-- clearly. But she wasn't about to become too comfortable with her just yet. "Fortunately, I grew up an only child." While it was lonely from time to time, she wasn't about to admit that to Bella. Besides, she didn't need another sibling pulling attention away from her. Aeliana had gotten the best of the best-- with school work and nannies, and whatever else that could come to mind, and a sibling would've ruined most of that.

"Well, I have to go meet with my uncle. But it was... nice to meet you, Isabelle." The brunette forced a smile and exited the room.

At least she enjoyed Isabelle more than her last roommate, that's for sure.

Aeliana wasn't a worrier, no. It was hard to be worried when you knew that something was going to work out. Not that it made sense to many other people, it felt like everyone but Aeliana had doubts. But it not as though many people shared their problems with Elena-- she didn't give them the chance to. There's always someone more important to talk to, friends were only friends when you needed something, weren't they? Her phone lit up on the desk and Elena's attention was quickly directed towards the message from Colby instead of the history books in front of her. Elena glanced up at the clock that sat at the very top of the exit of the library. A last glance at the books on the table, she sighed. Standing up and straightening her clothes before returning the books back to their original position.

She didn't want to go a party. Parties weren't exactly her thing. And it's not because she's labeled as 'uptight,' Elena just didn't see a point to partying and drinking the night away when so much more things could be done? What was a day if it wasn't productive?

She wouldn't of even considered it if Colby hadn't offered to take her. As much as the boy had his red flags, and... whatever strings Elena had to pull in order to help him out once or twice, she didn't want to stop talking to him-- Or... dating him. Even she had to admit the whole 'babe' thing might've been a little early to pull, but it has been more than a 2 months, and they were practically talking-- almost always, so... didn't that mean they were in a relationship? Maybe it was due to her upbringing, but Elena couldn't help but be a little old-fashioned. The whole... 'Let me text you for a week and then we're official.' Didn't really make much sense to her.

The point of this is, she's going to a party... for him. It's a party today, what's tomorrow? Back to her original thought, Aeliana wasn't a worrier, no. But with Colby? There was quite a few and Elena couldn't place if it was her gut talking, or if it was one of those nervous feelings you'd get when you liked someone so much. People like Elena needed a reason for these types of things. A simple-- 'You'll never know until it happens.' Was a thing she didn't exactly resonate with. She walked into the building and found Colby within a few seconds, "Hey." it was fairly easy for a smile to not be forced around him and see, that, that is apart of why relationships bugged her so much. She wasn't like this with Eli, Eli was by far the worst mistake of her life but she's glad that she ended it before they had gotten closer.

"Forgive me if I'm interrupting, Ian right?"

Ryker Flynn Thompson

Ryker tried to imagine what it felt like to be one of those armadillos, just to have the ability to pop up into some little ball and rolling far away from this gathering would be a god send, but he was here and no matter how hard he tried to wish for it, the world was going to deny his wish to shape shift. There were more people joining the group now, but he was still comfortable with it at this point, so many new faces to check out and look at. He liked Carter though, her smile was infectious enough to make him smile and warm up to the situation, even though he thought Eli was bragging loudmouth. "Buggered up? I'd rather be pissed mate, at least it would make you look like a beaut." Ryker was already waking into dangerous territory, but he already could feel the heat rising in his chest when Eli opened his mouth to speak. Australians were dicks, he knew, he was one. "Don't ruin this piss up yet Eli, are you a true blue from the bush?" Ryker's head cocked to the side some, the base of his neck was hot from agitation. He would stop now, it was gonna be a polite shoving match at this rate but it in Eli's court now to respond to his questions. Ryker's smile was bright, it made his eyes light up warmly, even if the smile was because he was acting like an ass. He had a healthy buzz going at this rate, the multitude of beers he had drank had atoned to that, so damn be all for his tongue. His dark eyes shifted, looking at everyone in the group before landing back on Eli, giving him a once over slowly before bringing the bottle to his lips for a long drink.

Chase

Chase couldn't help but feel guilty, as he and Harper walked hand in hand to the back to school party. They'd only gotten back together recently, and all summer he hadn't stopped thinking about what had happened with Noah and what it meant. Was he gay? Or just bi-sexual? Or was it a one time thing? He'd pushed Harper away while trying to figure himself out, but he still hadn't managed to understand it. It had been obvious he wasn't himself all summer, Alaska had pestered him every day asking what was wrong with him, but he'd busies himself with sports and hanging out with his friends from home to avoid her questions. He didn't know who he was anymore, and he thought being back with Harper might help, but it only made him feel worse.

"It's going to be nice to see everyone again. Spending all summer with Alaska was exhausting." He joked, forcing a nervous smile as he thought about seeing Noah for the first time since last semester. Even though he'd promised not to tell Harper, it was still a concern weighing heavily on his shoulder's. He'd told Noah that it had been an awful one time mistake, but he wasn't sure that he really meant it. He'd liked kissing Noah much more than he was willing to admit, even to himself.

They arrived at the beach much too soon, the jock's head still swirling with overwhelming thoughts. His palms started to sweat, partly because of the summer heat but mostly because he was nervous. This was his last year at Silver Oak and he wanted to make the most of it, not spend it worrying about his relationships, so he pulled Harper in for a quick kiss before they approached the others and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer as they walked towards their friends.

"Hey Zach!" Chase called as they approached, releasing Harper so he could pull the blond into a hug. Zach was about the only person that Chase could have told about his problem with Noah, but he hadn't said a word to his friend because he was worried he wouldn't be his friend anymore, or that he'd tell Harper what he'd done.

Alaska

tumblr_mdvhh1Cr3g1rceo15o3_500.gif

It had been a long summer away from Silver Oak for the youngest Vaughn. She was still upset over her break up with Raven, she was hundreds of miles away from her friends, and to top it all off her brother had been acting weird all summer. Chase had been avoiding her all summer, her father had been at work most of the time, and the few times she visited her mother she was busy or avoiding her because, well Alaska didn't exactly get along with her mother. She didn't have many friends in her hometown, so she'd gotten a job to occupy herself for the long summer.

The brunette was ecstatic to be back at Silver Oak for the year, all of her friends were here and she was more than ready to party with her friends again. Carter and Tatum always knew how to put her in a better mood, usually it involved alcohol and cute boys and girls. She knew it made Chase worry about her, but there was nothing wrong with partying as long as she kept her grades up and didn't get caught. What was the point of attending a boarding school if you couldn't have fun?

"What's up?" She greeted her friends, wrapping her arms around Tatum and Carter to pull them in for a hug. There was a six pack in her hand that she'd been hiding in her suitcase specifically for tonight. It was easy to sneak alcohol from her dad's collection, it wasn't like he was ever home to see it. Tonight was going to be a blast, she'd been dying to see her friends and let loose all summer and it was finally time to. Since her break up with Raven she'd been feeling down, but it was her junior year and she was going to make the most of it with her friends.

Carter took a few steps back from Eli, as everyone else started to arrive Elias 2.0 took her spot next to Eli and she made her way back towards the alcohol table. She was too sober for the amount of testosterone surrounding her at this point, she twisted off the cap of fireball and took rather large swig. It was a party after all, and she had no intentions of loosing her buzz anytime soon. Carter raised her bottle to Elias as to say hi to the guy as he joined their slowly growing group.

Soon enough a small shaggy haired, obviously a freshman, boy arrived. He seemed uncomfortable with his surroundings. of course a party could be pretty intimidating especially when Carter and Tatum were hosting. First party of the year, most of everyone's first time back together. Seeing each other for the first time in a couple months puts everyone on their own high, adding alcohol and drugs to that only enhanced that natural high.

"Eliiii" Carter whinned. "Goat-boy is MY nickname for Ryker. Find your own." She smirked spinning on her heel ever so slightly. Carter got distracted from the Aussies rather quickly when she felt a familiar set of arms wrap her and Tatum into a hug. The small brunette Alaska had an insane grip, and Carter returned the hug quickly. She was officially surrounded by all of her favorite people. "Hey!" Carter and her were as close as Carter could realistically be to someone. "How was your Summer? I'm sorry I didn't see you when I was home, honestly I don't even remember most of the week at home." She stiffled a small chuckle.

Carter noticed Alaska's six pack, "Ooo you brought some good stuff." She lifted one of the bottles out of the pack. Remembering the testosterone filled boys standing close by, Carter kept an eye on them, she knew Eli could be rather hot headed, going from one end of the spectrum to the other. "Hey, Alaska, Have you met Ryker? He's a first year senior." She raised her eyebrows, gesturing to the new Aussie boy. "He's Australian too." She smirked, nudging Tatum with her elbow as she looked over to see her message Eli on Twitter.

Eli didn't like to be challenged, especially not in front of everyone at the party. Being a little high wasn't enough to keep his ego from coming out. The fact that Ryker was just some new kid and everyone already acted like he was a part of the group didn't help. He felt threatened by it, and teenage boy-brain went ahead and turned that into aggression. Eli huffed. "The bush?" He spat. "Bruce, you and I ain't the same. Do I look like some Outback pig-fucker to you? Rack off." Eli wouldn't throw the first punch. That'd make him look childish in front of everyone. But if Ryker wanted to talk shit, Eli would happily put him in his place. "Or's it Goat-fuckers? That where Carter got your nickname? Your family just a clan of goat-fuckers back in the bush, I reckon." Eli returned the same cheeky smile that Ryker flashed him, despite the fact that he already just wanted to hit the guy. Ironic, the Aussies both had the same cocky attitudes, and that's exactly what they hated about each other.

With the small joint Carter had given him smoked down to a stub, Eli flicked it at Ryker's feet. "Charity, Goat-Fucker." He smirked, walking past Ryker to go re-join the girls now.

Eli's eyes swept over the three, Tatum, Carter, and Alaska. Each pretty in their own right, and all three crazy enough to stab him or some shit. "I'm the only Aussie you oughta concern yourself with, love." Eli spoke in a smooth tone, interjecting himself into Alaska and Carter's conversation. Despite his irritation, Eli didn't seem to show it. He was all charm and smile now, though he was sure Carter probably saw right through him. She always did. However, She should just be happy he hadn't already thrown a punch.

All in all, Tatum was enjoying her buzz she had been enjoying being with her friends and that was only a small portion of her high but most of it was from her drinks and the weed. She enjoyed having multiple attractive guys around her but the one who stopped her for a moment was the small young boy. He must’ve been Vered the one she had convinced to show up to the party, she could tell he was nervous, and she quickly grabbed him a canned soda that she hadn’t tampered with. She wasn’t about to completely ruin the young boy, “I can’t lace it without popping the top. But relax kid I promise this is gonna be the time of your life.” And really Tatum hoped that was true, but her mind was still buzzed so she wasn’t as sure of herself. She let her eyes wander once more and he couldn’t help but catch the eyes that always sent small butterflies in her stomach. The boy who made her happy, the boy she didn’t want to date but loved so much. She couldn’t help but catch Zach’s wink in her direction and she sent a small wink back, she wished he hung out more with her crowd of friends, but he had his own and she had hers. How they became ‘friends’ was something she had never figured out, but she enjoyed every minute of it.

Every part of her was distracted besides feeling her phone constantly buzz from Twitter and of course Eli was talking about food which made her hungry, but she was still distracted by Zach until she saw Chase arrive and out of nowhere, she felt herself being pulled into hug. Alaska was back and that meant the whole gang was back together. She had missed the brunette all summer and she felt like the trio was finally complete. She kept messaging Eli back mostly because she was hungry, but he was offering her an adventure and how could she say no to someone who looked like him. She didn’t really care that Carter was looking, it wasn’t much of surprise that Tatum would flirt, tease, or just have fun with whoever offered her a good time. But really, she always went back to one person, but Tatum wasn’t tied down and wasn’t planning on being tied down. It was day one back which meant she deserved every ounce of fun she could get, no matter the company.

Heather

While Heather didn't exactly like everyone at Silver Oak Academy, she'd been waiting all summer to return to school. Summer meant her overprotective parents constantly looking over her shoulder, watching her every move and critiquing just about everything she did. It didn't help that her older sister seemed to do everything right. All her life Heather had been competing with her sister, and losing every time in her parent's eyes. It didn't help that Lily had gotten into an Ivy League school for college either. The pressure on her was harder than ever this year, with SAT's and college applications around the corner.

Even though Heather didn't exactly associate with the trouble-makers that usually hosted the parties, all of the popular kids would be there and there was no way she could miss it. It would be complete social suicide not to go. She was looking forward to hanging out with JJ and Ellie after not seeing them all summer except for facetimes. At first, Heather had only befriended JJ because she was he head cheerleader and one of the most popular girls in school, it was the seemingly easiest way to secure her spot at the top. It turned out that Heather actually genuinely liked her, once she got past her bitchy exterior JJ was a good friend and fun to hangout with, not to mention they had a lot in common. Being popular wasn't as fun as everyone made it seem.

"So, do you have your eyes on anyone yet?" Heather asked her roommates as they walked down the short path to the observatory where the party was being held. They'd already caught up about what they'd done over summer since they spent every day together in class, at cheer practice, or in their dorms but Heather had yet to ask her friends about their thoughts on which jock they had their eyes on this semester. After JJ had broken up with her Ryker she'd been really down, and Heather was glad to see her friend bouncing back finally. Heather had never really dated anyone, she was too focused on cheer and her academics to let someone distract her, but now that she'd been at Silver Oak for a while maybe having a boyfriend wouldn't hurt.

Aeliana Soap Soap , Ian PenguinFox PenguinFox , mention Xavier KingofAesir KingofAesir

He heard footsteps nearby approaching him and Ian, and turned his head to another familiar voice. “Hey, Elena.” He smiled back brightly at her as he got off the bench. “I’m really glad you’re going. It’s gonna be fun, I promise. Who knows, maybe we’ll run into your Greek friend there.”

Colby was sure that Aeliana’s friend, Xavier Cosmos, didn’t like him. For what reason, he didn’t know. He had a long list of ideas why anyone wouldn’t like him, even though he wasn’t deliberately trying to make anyone hate him most of the time—it’s common for people to find his personality annoying, not that he tried to be. Maybe it had something to do with Aeliana. Whatever Xavier’s opinions about him were, Colby had no motivation to care now, as long as Curly Top didn’t cause a rift between his and Aeliana’s relationship.

When Aeliana turned her attention to his roommate, Colby quietly held his breath for a moment. He couldn’t tell which was bad: inviting Elena to the party because he basically felt sorry that the other kids called her boring, or insisting Ian on Twitter to be the third wheel? And now his throat was itching to finish the inconspicuous bottle of whiskey and coke that felt like it was burning under his leather jacket.

“Yeah. This is the guy I told you about the other day, the one who taught me how to play my grandpa’s old guitar this summer,” said Colby.
