Realistic or Modern Silver Oak Academy: Season 1

Noah Stewart
Noah on rocks comres 2.gif
As Chase walked away from the group intending to get himself, and also Harper, something to drink, Noah couldn't help but wonder if that had been a good idea. Of course, he wasn't one to judge anything to do with alcohol, especially in the state he had been at the moment. Noah also didn't see the point in saying anything, seeing Kekoa had already said something to Harper, presumably/hopefully connected to the whole 'her drinking alcohol' business.

Noah noticed a pair of hands in his hair, and if he had reflexes he had while sober, he would've noticed them sooner and probably done something to the person molesting him. However, a smile appeared on his face as he smelled the soft flowery scent that was all too familiar, connecting it immediately to a french girl by the name of Jackie.

"Oh my god! Come here!" He turned towards her, wrapping his hands around the shorter girl, hugging her. He genuinely didn't expect to see any of his friends from that friend group until school actually began and they met up at one of their dorms, so this was quite a nice surprise for the black-haired boy. The night which was off to a rocky start was turning out to be genuinely fun, as long as Noah didn't think about anything related to Chase and the kiss and literally betraying one of his best friend who he needed to be there for.

Of course, this beautiful reunion of two friends who haven't seen each other for three months was broken by Zach's snarky remark about Noah 'winning over' the Dupont sisters, which wasn't true at all. Hanging out with Jackie was an accident that turned out to blossom into a beautifully-knit friendship. Plus, Noah wasn't really friends with Bella, Jackie's little sister, although the girl seemed more than nice enough for Noah to hang out with.

Noah stepped out of the hug and turned towards Zach who had a smirk wide across his very-slappable face.

"I do understand how my advantageous and enviable academic achievements make you jealous, but I can always help tutor you. After all, I did already do most of the harder classes last year. And if you're looking for advice on how to seduce Jackie, I'm sure she wouldn't mind going on a pity date with you. Right, Jackie?" Noah's voice was playful, but the alcohol had taken its toll on Noah's thoughts, and so, the words leaving his mouth did have a slight mean undertone to them, almost like he wasn't exactly joking. Even throwing in the obscure words like 'enviable' was a way to confuse Zach and leave him comebackless.

Even though Zach and Noah's friendship did highly revolve around being snarky towards each other, drunk Noah did have a tendency to be annoyed by Zach's snarkiness towards him, and therefore, this shouldn't have really been a new thing for Zach.

So maybe Harper wasn't being completely genuine with herself, for the first time ever she was giving into peer pressure. If you could even call it that. She knew that no one really judged her for walking the straight line, she was happy always being the DD too, but something about tonight made her want to actually let go for once. Could she have changed her mind, yes, did she want to change her mind, also yes. But she wasn't about to go back on her word. She could hang with the rest of them, she felt like she had something to prove. She was a junior after all, and her brother had been drinking since his freshman year. Why wouldn't she be able to handle it.

It only took a look to convince Chase otherwise when he doubted her decision. She wasn't even surprised when Zach gave her crap for it, this was completely out of character for her. She rolled her eyes at him a smirk on her face. "At least I'll have you boys to carry me home." In that moment Chase returned and handed her the cup, Harper only regretted her decision slightly. She bit her lower lip. Harper didn't know how she was going to respond to alcohol, and Zach was probably right. She would be a lightweight. She heard Keoka, and she was right. Harper didn't have to do this, and Harper knew that.

She turned her head towards Keoka. "I know." She said softly, but she wasn't changing her mind. Not this time. She raised her drink up to Zach, Noah, and the rest of her friends. So what if it was her first drink, it wasn't the end of the world. "Cheers to a good year." She smiled big before lowering the plastic cup to her lips. 'This isn't so bad, you can barely taste the alcohol.'

"Good choice babe." She smirked and stood on her tippy toes, giving Chase a quick kiss on the cheek. Harper didn't necessarily like the drink, but there wasn't really any reason to hate it either. She could probably sip on this the rest of the night and not feel any adverse effects from it.

Harper saw Zach's attitude change when school and college were brought up, she was happy to only be a junior this year. Watching all her friends go through interviews and college papers did not make her any more excited for that. They already had the experienced the freedom from living away from home, Silver Oak obviously let their kids run wild to some extent, what school would endorse a party of drinking teens. Silver Oaks would, or at least whoever ran the twitter account did.

Harper listened to Zach give Noah crap, as Noah gave it right back to him. She knew it was all fun and games with them, but sometimes their banter would go just a little too far. Harper didn't know Jackie or Bella well, but she knew that if Noah had dragged her into a conversation like that, she would of personally felt uncomfortable. Maybe that was just her though. She wanted to call Noah out on it, but she also didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings in the process, so she just kept her mouth shut.

"We'll have to compare class schedules Flo." Harper smiled taking another small sip from her drink."Ours too Keoka!" Harper thought about how she probably should of been more focused on school starting. Maybe made actual plans for how she wanted this semester to go, but she had been more concerned about seeing her friends than anything else. Enough had happened over the summer that she just wanted relief, she just wanted to forget about her own problems and be here. "I honestly should of probably looked at my schedule more before, but I can't change it now so I might as well go with it." Harper laughed lightly.

Brayden had made quick casualties with Madi before Hayden had taken them on the route to the party, it was going to be the first chance he would get to see Tatum. He was quiet the entire walk not really feeling all that social especially because he felt out of place in parties. He had gone to few with Tatum, but he hated going and she had somehow always been the one in the center, the one taking shots, the one flirting and hooking up. He on the other hand was in the background just being there because his friend had asked, but he wasn’t about being in the center or taking shots, he didn’t care about the fakeness of a party.

When they made it to the clearing he looked around and instantly saw Tatum with quite a large crowd, she was smiling and looked like she was having fun. He was glad for his friend he gave her a quick wave and she beckoned him over. He shook his head he wasn’t about to get into the mess of her friend group he nudged Madi, “That blonde is my friend, as you can see, she seems to know most everyone. Her name is Tatum she may seem like fun but get on her bad side and you unlock some crazed she-devil.” He shrugged a bit, but he figured he’d at least warn Madi because he knew Tatum would swing by to hang out so eventually the two blondes would meet, he would rather her be aware of his best friends’ crazy side then find out accidentally.

When Elias had said no to her drink Tatum had shrugged, “You don’t know what you’re missing, but I guess it’s fair to not ruin all your hard work.” With one more smile she turned her attention back to her girls; she had missed them so much though one was still missing. She had missed Beck the girl was just like the rest of them and she had just as much bite to her bark. Most of Tatum’s friends enjoyed having just as much fun as her without too much consequence. She wasn’t about to get tangled in the mess of the boys, puffing their chests trying to figure out who was better, stronger, more attractive. Tatum didn’t care about those types of masculine acts because in the end it never really accomplished anything.

Her attention had just turned back to Carter and Alaska when she was pulled into another hug, and she couldn’t help but squeal in happiness, “Beck! The gang is all here now.” Tatum wasn’t one to conceal her joy, but the drugs and alcohol had made her feel more excited. Now all she needed was to have shots and good music, to really enjoy this party.

She looked at each girl, “I’m pouring shots and no isn’t an answer.” She wasn’t letting any of them get off without having shots. Her eyes caught both Brayden and Zach’s she smiled at both of them and then in her own way forced her friends to follow for shots, “This is going to be our year.” She believed that, it was their junior year and she wasn’t going to let it be a boring year. She was going to make sure it was a year she would never forget. For once in her life things were going on an upward trend, no parents to enforce rules, no one causing her much grief, a boy toy, best friends, and she still somehow would maintain good grades.

Elias Walker
Elias watched the party grow and grow, joined by faces both old and new. He shivered slightly under his hoodie, another reminder that he was not fond of being in the great outdoors, and that it was only going to get colder as the night went on. Elias smirked down at Tatum as he removed a flask of his own from his hoodie pocket. It wasn't necessarily anything about trust, but he was aware that Tatum was a party girl, the things she put into her body, and things he put into his were very different. The mixture of gin and lemonade in his own flask wouldn't impair him for long after the night, especially with tryouts coming so soon. "Yeah, wouldn't want to loose the progress, Tatie. I'll take you out to the gym sometime, then I'll consider a drink, yeah?" Elias let himself smile for a second, revealing his pearly whites in the dark of the night. Tatum was quickly swept away by her group of friends, and another much quieter voice had distracted him anyways.

He brought the flask to his lips, allowing himself a sip of the sour (to say the least) beverage. It burned the back of his throat, all the way down to his belly, and definitely warmed him up. Elias couldn't make out the beginning of Vered's words due to the effects of the gin-- yes, he was definitely a lightweight. It took a moment for his eyes to focus down on the boy once again, but once it did, he suddenly realized what they'd been talking about. He furrowed his brows and nodded as if he'd just realized something.

"Perhaps you're a little overdressed for the wildnerness 'ere, buddy? Don't you think?" Elias spoke to Vered the same way he'd speak to his younger sister who was only a year past elementary school. He didn't know how else to speak to kids that much more younger than him besides babying them. "You look presentable, it's just awfully professional looking for the occasion. Here." With his free hand, Elias unclasped his golden cross pendant from his neck, before bringing it over to Vered. "Unbutton your t-shirt, lose the suspenders, and try this on, buddy." His eyes then turned to the yarmulke on Vered's head. "Hand me the cap too, lad... This is all if you want to though. Guess I can't really force you to change if that's what you'd like.

And my name's Elias, you?"

Andrea King
A smirk played on Andrea's lips as her stepfather dragged her heavy suitcases onto the private jet that awaited the two before it could depart. The older man had lost a game of basketball to her earlier and she must admit it was quite reckless for him to make a bet with one of the best female basketball players in the nation. Despite the fact that she knew she'd bust his old knees she agreed to the bet, and that brings the two here with the man muttering curse words under his breath. She usually would travel to the academy on her own, but if she wanted to use her stepfather's jet he'd have to be accompanying her. It's not like she minded to be honest, the two were really close and if you didn't know the girl you wouldn't be able to tell that she wasn't his biological daughter. Once they had gotten seated in the jet, her stepfather immediately called up her mother causing Andrea to roll her eyes at the man's antics. He was most definitely whipped for her mother, but as long as the two were happy she didn't mind the slightest bit.

With her head laid against the window Andrea closed her eyes, reminiscing on the past summer she had spent back home. Going back home was always an adjustment for Andrea, since she had just spent 10 months in Oregon which couldn't match the cold in Montreal. Even in the "summer", it was colder than what she had finally grown accustomed to. Although most of Andrea's friends were now students from Silver Oak, it was nice to catch up with the other teens in the neighborhood she had been raised in. Her two siblings, annoying as they were, were probably the highlight of her summer. The two had struck six during the summer and seeing them growing up already brought tears to her eyes. As much as she claimed to hate the two, she loved family more than anything and the thought of her little siblings being not so little pulled on her heart strings. It's safe to say her summer was a family summer aside from basketball tournaments and whatnot, but you wouldn't ever find Andrea complaining about that. Speaking of basketball, she had decided against rep during the summer... well Korey had, instead the girl spent her time in the gym with various basketball stars ranging from other High school players to professionals. As the memories of the past summer flooded in and out of her mind, her body fully relaxed into the seat and she fell asleep.

***
Andrea woke up to Korey shaking her shoulders, but the girl couldn't be bothered to actually get off the chair. It wasn't until she heard something about Chick-fil-a that she jumped out of her seat, urging her stepfather off the plane. He knew she couldn't deny food and she wasn't going to try and hide it, rather embrace it and use it for her own gain. After the man begrudgingly hauled her things into the uber awaiting them at the airport he directed the driver to the nearest Chick-fil-a, the two diving into conversation about her expectations for the year. Andrea honestly didn't know what to expect, she'd just take what she was given and hope for the best. Their conversation was cut short after they picked up their food and by the time the two had finished eating, the driver had announced that they'd arrived at the Silver Oak Academy. The two of them said a thank you to the man, as her stepfather paid him their fare and a nice tip for his good service.

***
Upon arriving to her dorm Andrea met nothing but the essentials that the academy already provided for their students. It was a surprise to the girl as she was already late and expected to be met with the belongings of someone else scattered in the dorm, but with a shrug the girl carried on organizing her things into the dorm. After the party that she was already late to she would either be met with a roommate or a half empty room, both not an issue to her. She quickly shot a text to Sebastian telling him she was sliding through to his dorm and that he was coming with her to the party whether he wanted to or not. It wasn't peer pressure... okay so maybe it was, but she really just wanted to push the boy out of his comfort zone and meet new people. After meeting him close to the end of last year while helping separate a fight that he was involved in, she'd always just hung around him when she could. Her constant nagging was there to stay, and she's almost convinced him to join the basketball team so she's making progress.

Andrea raked through her clothes in search of something more suitable for the outdoors, the thick yellow sweatsuit she had worn prior seeming too warm for the occasion. After ten minutes of searching, which was actually a new best, she settled on a black tube top with some black biker shorts. To even out the black she decided to add a light washed jean jacket to the outfit and laced up her all white air forces. She didn't want to seem basic, but the shoes went with every outfit and it was either the forces or dress like she was going to a funeral. Her hair that had been freshly twisted laid freely on her shoulders, light makeup plastered on her face. She double checked herself in the mirror, reapplying her lip gloss before finally making her way down to Sebastian's dorm.

When she got there the younger boy wasn't ready for the party at all in Andrea's eyes, and after a back and forth she was able to get him to at least try the party scene. It took a lot of "Sebby pleaaaaase" , and her signature pout, but once he let a groan out at the nick name she knew he was stuck. The name always irritated the boy and Andrea wouldn't like to call herself manipulative, convincing being the better term for her, but she knew to get her to shut up he'd say yes. She could tell he was he was unhappy, the mug he sported on his face telling it all, but she just rolled her eyes at him and told him to hurry up. After he was dressed in a manner that Andrea found pleasing, she grabbed his hand and dragged him down to the party before he could change his mind.

The smell of alcohol and weed instantly hit her nose and it sounds weird coming from an athlete, but the smell was normal to her. She obviously didn't partake in any of that or her parents would have her head on a stick, but she was fond of a turn up and what better way then a party? Weaving through sweaty bodies and kids who had clearly had too much to drink, Andrea searched for a familiar face in the sea of students in front of her. She stopped abruptly and squinted her eyes at a group of students that looked familiar, her grip on Sebastian's hand tightened through the chaos. After a few seconds of squinting at the figures before her, her eyes landed on Florence who was in a little circle with Harper, Noah, and three other figures she couldn't distinguish from afar. Her feet were already in motion as she made her way to the group, a smile evident on her face. Safe to say that she was the worst person to attend a party with because throughout all these motions, she didn't once look back to check on Sebastian and momentarily forgot he was even there.

Once she got close enough to the group, she let go of Sebastian's hand and softly nudged Florence. When the girl finally turned to her she stretched her hands out, inviting the girl into a hug. Once the two released she took a look at the group, recognizing Chase, Zach, and two students she hadn't met before emerging as the bodies she couldn't recognize. "So you guys are telling me I just got to the party, even though it started how long ago, and not one of you shot me a text wondering where I was? Some friends I have" she joked, the smile on her face and the tone of her voice being the dead give away that she wasn't mad. She looked to the boy who she hadn't met before and couldn't stop the light chuckle that left her lips. He looked so awkwardly placed in the group so she sent him a welcoming smile and wave before turning her vision to the girl she hadn't met either. After looking between the two, she asked "Are you two new here, 'cause I've never seen you before. I'm Andrea by the way", the smile never leaving her face. She almost forgot about Sebastian until she looked to her other side, and saw the younger boy standing there. "Oh shit, guys this is Sebastian. He's a sophomore so play nice" she spoke, softly pushing the boy closer to the rest of them.

Ian laughed with Colby and reciprocated the greeting. "Only the move in day and you're already trying to put yourself on a watch list?" he said giving a dramatic glance around to see if they were receiving strange looks. "Favorite? Are you implying you have more than one?" he feigned offense and brought his hand to his chest. "I'm hurt Colby." He couldn't hold the fake offended look for long and his face cracked back to his casual grin. Ian and Colby had met shortly after he moved in with his aunt. His cousin Liz worked at this cafe for the summer and so one day Ian went with her. There he met Colby, whose family owned the cafe. The two bonded over love of nerdy things and amazing(ly bad) puns.

The pair sat back down on the bench and caught each other up on what's been happening. "Believe me, being shipped away isn't fun. Plus if you're sent off, who else could possibly appreciate my humor. Pretty sure Liz wants to throttle me on the daily. As for me, I've been trying to make friends mostly...which now that I say that out loud it sounds kinda sad and pathetic..." he chuckled off the awkward feeling he was starting to get and scratched the back of his neck. "No delays I just..." How exactly was he supposed to explain he spent the night in the woods? Thankfully he didn't have to as the third person of their group showed up.

There wasn't much that Ian knew about Elena, aside from rumors and what Colby had said about her. Ian wasn't about to make any snap judgments either, though he did have some concerns. After all, Colby had specifically asked Ian to third wheel. You didn't exactly do that if you really liked someone. On the other hand, maybe he was just awkward and nervous and wanted a friend around to calm himself. Whatever the case, Ian was cautiously optimistic about meeting Elena. She was at least polite.

"You're not interrupting at all. I am in fact Ian. Colby has only said good things about you I promise." Ian gave Elena a friendly smile before turning to smirk at Colby. He took his role as third wheel very seriously, and part of the job description, at least in Ian's mind, was making things awkward for the other two people. Sure the intent was to make things less awkward for Colby by giving him a fallback, but not once has a third wheel not made things awkward. Plus, Ian had to have his fun. "C'mon, let's get to this party already."

Ian stood up and began leading the two to the party. Liz had given him the location and after the exploring he had done the past two days he was confident in his ability to get their trio there with the utmost of expediency. "I tried to teach him guitar. I don't think I'm much good of a teacher. Thankfully his natural talent made up for it." His eyes flicked between the two, trying to gauge how comfortable or awkward the two felt. "I did bring my guitar out here, so lessons can absolutely continue, if you want. This place has a music department right? I'd love to get behind a drum set again. Or is only stuffy classical music played here? I didn't get shipped to an uptight, no fun allowed boarding school did I?" Ian was casually testing the waters with Elena, seeing what kind of person she really was. It was always better to get to know someone from their own mouth rather than hearsay. Was she uptight and snotty like the rumors suggested? Or was it all assumptions based on her family name?

Soon enough the three arrived at the observatory. "So, who wants to go first? I feel like it might be a little weird for the new kid to lead the way into the party." All of Ian's confidence in talking with Colby and Elena had been solely because he was comfortable around his friend. But with the amount of strangers that were going to be at this party. Well, Ian still didn't have that level of confidence yet, and whoever led the way was likely going to have quite a few eyes on them. If neither of the other two would do it, then he supposed he'd suck it up, but secretly he was hoping someone else would. Anxiety sure is a bitch. Soap Soap 0k_mang0 0k_mang0

Stu

sV3qQyt.gif

The story Graham relayed that the seniors burnt all their furniture in a bonfire was completely believable, although Stu wasn’t there to see it with his own eyes. It must have been quite the spectacle for those fortunate enough to witness it. The seniors had probably wanted to go out with a bang, or better, to get their revenge on the staff who had made their lives so miserable. The only complaint? They should have burnt the whole school down while they were at it. What a missed opportunity!

Less believable was Graham’s insistence that there was a sea monster living in the depths of Lake Sycamore, although Stu was willing to entertain this possibility, because best friends were supposed to support each other’s stupid ideas... but more likely because it was a long hike and he got bored. He brought back up the subject of fantastic beasts and where to find them while they were shuffling drunkenly through the fields.

‘I don’t know about Nessie,’ Stu said. ‘But I’m pretty sure there are monsters that like to steal your pillows while you’re asleep... and they’re the worst.’

Stu lagged behind while he tried to pick out some of the burrs that were infuriatingly sticking to his socks and pants, but in vain. By the time he got to the observatory, his feet and legs were itching like crazy, and a pretty scary looking rash had developed all the way up to his knee. What if a venomous snake had bit him? Whoever thought wading through tall grass was a good idea?! But maybe an amputation was just the excuse he needed to get out of Silver Oak. Hell, he should be so lucky...

‘We came, we saw, we can go home, right?’

‘Yeah, let’s go,‘ Stu replied.

He spun around jokingly and started marching away, exaggerating his steps. Or perhaps he wasn’t joking at all, because he didn’t stop walking for a couple of steps!

He sighed while his eyes scanned the fields which they had just crossed. It had taken them so much effort and so much itching to make it here alive, the least they could do was hang around and watch the brilliant fire roar for a few more minutes while everyone else gave them funny looks. Maybe the seniors might start throwing their furniture into the heap, or even better, some other kids (this might be exciting to watch, as long as those ‘other kids’ didn’t happen to be the two of them, which was also pretty likely)! Or maybe that girl will lose her balance again and actually fall in this time. Then Stu can run to the nearest phone booth, change into his neck tie, come save the day and then fly her off to the Golden Gate Bridge to watch the pretty city lights.

That scenario being unlikely, Stu looked to the building, and pointed out to Graham that the party was happening inside too. There was no way they could have gotten permission to use the observatory, so they must have broken in. If the teachers found out, that could land all of them in trouble!

‘I guess maybe we should stay out here,’ Stu said wisely. ‘If teachers show up we won’t be stuck inside, or get caught.’ Still he was standing perfectly still, with his hands tucked in his pockets, and made none the wiser by his wisdom. And maybe, just maybe, it was getting a bit cold, and going inside might not be such a bad idea after all.

‘OK, it's up to you.‘

Stu looked around desperately. There had got to be some other loser they could talk to. They couldn’t possibly be the only two losers in this whole stupid school... what would be the odds of that!!?!

The party chugged on at a steady pace in her head. It seemed everyone was enjoying themselves and the company of one another, the thought made her shoulders relax and a constant smile on her face. She was surprised about Harper drinking, but this was her choice perhaps she wanted to really relax tonight. When Harper raised her cup, so did she. Listening to others talk about their grades, she was caught off guard when two girls made their way into the group by Noah. Her eyes brows shot up in surprise. Woah, these girls were next level. She felt like she was thrown in a Vogue magazine shoot by simply staring at them. They were pretty cute too... she turned away and down to her cup where she swirled the drink around until talking to Harper, Chase and Kekoa. “Well if you ever need help with your classes come to me. Besides, I was thinking of doing a tutoring service this year. I’m pretty sure there’s some jocks down on their luck and need a few pointers. Of course I’ll have them pay, but for everyone that I’m friends with I’ll do it for free.” She said with a little grin, simply thinking about the cash she could get from these rich people.

That’s when she was nudged by Andrea and pulled into a hug. “Oh hey!” For Florence she felt like she had a friendly rivalry with the girl last year. They were in class together making pretty good grades and Florence’s competitive nature flourished. Perhaps it was from the lack of racing in cars to fuel that desire, but she found herself becoming friends with her. But, Florence was surprised she sought her out at a party. The thought brought a smile to her face. Perhaps she did have more friends than she thought. “The only reason I didn’t text you was because you’re always a party, girl.” She played along and noticed the boy behind her. She was surprised to hear he was a sophomore, he looked like a junior at least. And, the same way she could tell from Andrea, he played Basketball. Nice. “Oh cool, hi sophomore Sebastian.” She gave him a wave. Another addition to the already large group. Maybe it was a good thing she didn’t bring Meera, even she was beginning to feel overwhelmed. She was a horrible dancer, but at the same time she felt like that was her charm. So, she raised her drink a little and pointed to the bonfire. “We should all go dance by the bonfire! Feel some fire on our skin!” She said if that meant they didn’t have to stand in a circle all night. She grabbed Andrea’s hand and Kekoa’s hand smiling a little as she nudged them to come with her to dance a bit.

Red Donovan
"Hey, are you okay? You look a little nervous."

“Yeah, that’s me,” Red sincerely laughed with a gangly roll of shoulders, leering at his sneakers, “But, that’s crazy! How could you tel-”

Head in the clouds, his laugh dried when he veered up towards the face belonging to the voice.

"Don't worry, these guys are all bark and no bite, there's no reason to be worried.”

No reason?

Red would have agreed with her prior to the jolt his heart made. Startlingly, it picked up and began racing like a hit-the-ground-running bolt of lightning, the near cardiac arrest giving Red a reason to worry. Red Donovan became living fiction at that point, star-struck and looking at her in a marvel that made the party opaque like a faraway cosmos. Ordinary- instinct wanted to say.

“I don't think we've met, I'm Isabelle but you can call me Bella, everyone does."

“Oh, heeyy-” Red murmured in a dumb stupor, stutter beginning at his tongue.

Noah, what do I do? Breath? No. No time to breath-

“Hi, Bella!” Red sensibly respired, eventually shaking her hand, “I’m Red. Red Donovan. I don’t really have a long name like you, so I guess you have no choice to call me Red, but you know... if you want, you can just call me any other color-”

Time to become green or blue or even better, a color wheel!

“There’s blue, yellow, purple, oh and..orange!” Red bursted, “Pink if you like lemonade. That was random.”

Ordinary, was that what he thought? Random was what he said? Ordinary did not explain the tropics that came with strawberry blonde hair and cherry-punch lips, and random could not peg an explanation for the blueberry acai swirling in her irses, almost as if she was listening to any crap that was coming out of his mouth.

“Hi, Andrea?” Red loonishly said, mainly distracted by the ever-crazy girl that was talking to him, “And Sebastian? I’m Red!”

Jack of all trades, master of none. That's exactly how Eli felt when it came to friends. He knew everyone, from the jocks to the computer nerds. He knew which act to put up with each little clique, but when it came down to it, he didn't really feel like he was a part of any of the groups. More often than not he'd split off on his own, off to a new social circle only to cycle to the next one over and over again. It'd go one like that until the party ended or he blacked out, whichever came first. It was easier to split off from the group than to feel like he was being left behind.

Even when he was directly involved with people, there was always that constant fear. General anxiety. Most the time, Eli felt like if he wasn't the center of attention, then he was just a background character. An extra in a movie, exposition for someone else's story. Sooner or later, the movie would cut to the next scene and he'd be done. So, he just kept changing the movie.

That's about where Eli had wound up now, slipping away from Carter, Tatum, and the others to disappear into the group of intoxicated teens. A joint in one hand and a drink in the other, he was indulging himself. Partly because he felt like he had to, like there was some expectation for him to be a party animal, but mostly because it was hard to worry when you weren't sober.

Every time he entered a new pocket of people, he was met with greetings and smiles, but he didn't stay long. Like a dog wandering around looking for attention.

It was only a matter of time before Eli would start running out of new people to talk to, only a matter of time before he resorted to options like Stu and Graham...

He stumbled slowly. The fire light dancing across the ground made it hard to focus. Drunk. High. The world was beginning to feel like it was spinning around him, swirling out of control, but Eli had no intention of slowing down. He had to be the center of attention. Even if it came at his own risk. Next week everyone would be talking about how crossed he was, or how funny he looked stumbling around, but at least they'd be talking about him.

"Are you twos..."Eli began, pointing a lazy finger at Stu and Graham. He never finished the sentence though, trailing off quickly. Eli blinked his eyes shut. He couldn't even remember what he was going to say.

"You both ought go join tha fon." He sputtered out. Eyes closed, body slowly swaying side to side. "Don't justss...Don't just stand arounds. Go talk! Half fun!" Eli did his best to encourage Stu and Graham, even though he wasn't really having fun at this point. Eli just felt sick. He wanted to lie down, go to sleep. Drunk enough to feel like his stomach could rise up out of his throat, but not quite drunk enough to stop caring about what people thought. He didn't want to be one of those kids that chickened out and went home! Eli was a partyer!

Eli squinted at Stu. Then at Graham. They both looked as anxious as he always felt. If he'd been sober, he probably would have felt sorry for them. But then again, if he had been sober, he probably would've made fun of them. Eli wasn't above cracking jokes at the expense of others. Anything to keep eyes on him. Maintain his status as one of the popular kids (As if being filthy rich and Australian hadn't already cemented his position as one of 'The Populars.")

Zachary Lee

“Pity dates?” Zachary Lee levied the cup to his mouth, lips breaking apart in severance of a canine smirk, “I thought you had me figured out, Noah.”

The alcohol in his cup swished, ice empty flurry as his wrist flicked the contents in a single gyration. Too often did his smile sit on a nefarious jagged jaw, and there was a white empire in his eyes matted with splintered blue, glass skyscrapers, “I thought you knew I don’t run in circles, Stewart. For anyone.”

But, unsober Noah knew that didn’t he?

“No offense to you, Jackie Dupont,” he keenly directed his straight teeth smile at her, “Although, I can wait for a real date. Rejection gets boring. I’ll wait for a sign. Preferably, after half-past midnight.”

Ace over the king of his cards, Zachary Lee protracted his neck back just just to look once over the fighter, blaming the browning taste of liquor for his minor aphrodisia. Then, his eyes were gone, silkily weaving through the wings of lights to Anderson whose study was in light volumes with Keoka and Florence.

“How are your teeny sips, Harper?” Zach queried, tongue flicking against the roof of his mouth, “Everything to your taste? Or can Vaughn get you CapriSun?”

Occurrences alike or not, he couldn’t help but notice her shotgun at adventure. Her feet had been gently bobbing to the music, but the way her fingers encircled that cup… it was the springs of not giving up easily. Her walls were a little lengthy to climb over to let herself truly lose herself in the mess of locked anarchy.

Why was she so hesitant to let it go?

“I bet you,” somewhere his baritone poised, “Harper Anderson, that you can’t finish the drink. And more than that, you can’t drink a real drink.”

He was too close to losing faith in himself. Why would he ever want anyone to become addicted to disorder as he was? Ending up at the back of some bed or lawn empty drooling, still blinded by the lights...

Oh, he heard Florence, but he was waiting.

“Don’t tell me you’re scared,” he playfully jived with enthrallment, although some part wanted to know the tolerance of her bravery, “Your boyfriend is here anyways. Noah and me too. You have practically nothing to lose. Loosen up, come on.”

mention: Andrea enigma2 enigma2 , Red lion. lion. , Flo Moonshadow Moonshadow , anyone else nearby

Not only did Sebastian have to sleep with two other people—including one of them being a rumored arsonist—in the already cramped room, but he was also forced to spend the night on the floor, in his sleeping bag that he had conveniently packed. And for some unknown strange reason, the room smelled like cheese.

Sebastian woke up at 1 p.m. the next day after barely getting enough sleep, a result from previously waking three or four times throughout the night from discomfort and someone nearly stepping on him. After almost missing lunch, he had to waste a few more hours at the office to get his dorm arrangement fixed again, and by the time that mess was finished, his roommate had just left before Seb moved in. That was fine with him. This dorm room didn’t smell like cheese, and he could get a few hours of undisturbed nap, which, of course, didn’t happen because of Andrea.

He still didn’t know how he had become friends with her—well, he knew how, and they weren’t exactly friends, just mostly acquainted with each other, in Seb’s opinion. It happened after the frying pan fight, the only significant (and terrible) experience in the last half part of his freshman year. One moment, he was ready to swing the frying pan at a sociopathic asshole’s face after said asshole threw a chair at him, and a second later, two or three people, one of them being Andrea who was randomly there at the time, pulled him away either to prevent him from swinging the frying pan or save his neck from being crushed. She had been bothering Sebastian since then, probably the only person to do so, and he didn’t understand why he let her. He thought ignoring and avoiding her would make her go away, but that hadn't worked so far.

Perhaps he should’ve swung that frying pan on himself and put himself in a coma as an excuse not to go to the dumb party. But Andrea annoyed Sebastian enough to make him put on his good bomber jacket and sneakers instead of letting him take a nap after unpacking his belongings in the dorm room. He was not amused when she pulled him by the hand tightly, glowering quietly like a child being forced by a parent to go somewhere he didn’t want to. Seb wasn’t a party guy.The loud noise, the many drunk or high teenagers around him—not his scene.

When Andrea introduced him to her friends, Seb tugged a small smile, almost reluctantly, and greeted them with a single nod. “Hi,” he responded to Flo. “And, uh... hi Red.” Red reminded him of one of those very friendly little kids that didn’t know how to tone down the friendly energy and greet every stranger walking by. It looked like it came naturally to Red rather than from having a little too much to drink.

Then Flo announced they should dance by the bonfire, and Seb murmured, “Yeah, ‘cuz second-degree burns are always fun.”

“Nah. We’ll probably get some first-degree burns at best,” Kekoa said nonchalantly, just before Flo pulled her away.

“I’m gonna go get a drink,” Sebastian said, taking one step back toward the snack table and quickly stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets to prevent Andrea from pulling his hand again to make him dance. Seb was not a dancer and didn't plan on being one tonight.

mention: Harper Dazzle Dazzle , Flo, Andrea, Zach, many others i'm too lazy to tag

Welp. Kekoa tried. She couldn’t really force Harper not to drink. Sure, it was her choice, but it should’ve been her choice without feeling any sort of peer-pressure. That was never a fun feeling. Zach wasn’t exactly helping with that. Kekoa wanted to say that Harper would be just fine drinking at her own pace without an unnecessary bet, but she had a feeling Harper’s friends would call her a buzzkill or something. God, boys were stupid.

“I think I’m a year below most of you guys, so we probably don’t have many classes together, besides lunch period maybe. But comparing schedules sounds neat,” said Kekoa. She hadn’t thought about classes too much since enrolling. Or at least, she tried not to think whether or not classes at Silver Oak were too difficult for her. Rich schools tend to be challenging in some way, right? Well, as long as Kekoa paid attention enough while balancing violin practice, she should be okay.

After Andrea and Sebastian arrived (jeez, this group was really popular), Kekoa suddenly felt her hand tugged, and she chuckled behind Flo, going along being dragged toward the bonfire, where a dozen more teenagers were dancing and hanging out. “If I do actually catch on fire, you’re paying for my medical bills,” Kekoa said jokingly. But at the same time, she hoped it wouldn't happen. Alcohol and bonfires don't seem like a good combination to dance with. She was sure someone had or would spill vodka or another flammable drink on themselves. Hopefully, nobody was too drunk or dumb enough to warm up themselves right in front of the bonfire like that. It would almost be as dumb as someone accidentally spilling gasoline on themselves.

Graham turned around matching Stu's energy, he was ready to go back to one of their rooms and watch Star Wars with snacks. That was a much better idea than dealing with this party. Dealing with all the bullies that might just throw him into the lake, or worse into the fire. But with much defeat, Stu turned back around. Graham didn't want to be the one to ditch, and he was sure that Stu wouldn't want to be that person either.

They had made it all the way here, there had to be a good reason for them to stay. He followed Stu's sight trying to figure out what he was looking at. Graham looked over at the observatory, Stu was right, some kids had moved the party inside and as much as Graham wanted to be one of the kids inside. Stu was right, they didn't need to get in trouble. "At least if we're out here we will be able to outrun the drunk bullies..."

"I was thinking we should actually try out for sports this year." Graham had gotten pretty decent at running, by running he meant running away. From bullies, problems, and the occasional loose horse. "It might help us get in with the crowd... Rather than being chased by the crowd."

Graham had been thinking about joining track, with all his running away he had gotten pretty fast. What he really wanted to do was join the dance and cheer team. However, he knew that would just put a bigger target on his back. That didn't stop him from considering it though. Graham loved to dance, it was everything he wanted.

Dance.. Ballet.. Lulu. "Maybe we should go find Lulu.. She said she was going to be here..." Lulu was one of the few that would probably put up with Stu and Graham. She was pretty much a looser just like the two of them, but she got left alone for the most part.

Graham's eyes went wide when he heard Eli's voice. 'dear god, we're about to die' Graham thought to himself. He would of said it out loud, but he was a deer in the headlights with Eli standing in front of them. The other reason he didn't say it out loud was only because Graham knew that Stu was thinking the exact same thing.

Graham started to stutter. He didn't know what to say, and his tongue felt too big for his mouth. "I-I.. Uh.. We.. Don't" Graham didn't know what to say. "We're just about to.. Uh.. Head that way.." Graham pointed off in some direction. Eli seemed to be in a good enough mood but Graham was still on high alert.

Ellie Kensington
Ellie Gif 21.gif

Summer had been fun for Ellie. A whole summer in L.A full of friends and parties was great, even if it did come with a PR manager/babysitter named Margret who happened to be a bit of a buzzkill at times - especially when it came to enforcing her parents' stupid ass rule that she stay in L.A and only L.A. Her family went around the world for the summer, mixing business and pleasure however they wanted while, according the them and the tabloids, 'the middle Kensington child Eleanor Charlotte spent the summer at a program for struggling students'. Oh how far from the truth that lie was. So actually, on balance, coming back to school was great because it meant freedom. Sure there were out in the middle of nowhere but that was nothing a short little freight-hopping excursion couldn't fix.

Being back with Heather and JJ for the year was also good, she missed her cheer trio when she wasn't at the Oak. Big bonus was that she'd also managed to bag the same room as last year which came with it's rooftop hangout from which they could judge all the students and teachers down below; and of course spy on the boys dorm when they were shirtless or less. Things could get a little awkward once practice started again though since Ellie had beaten JJ out for cheer captain this year. Turned out the squad didn't think her friend could handle being captain of both the dance and cheer teams at once. Ellie was so happy to be captain but she wasn't 100% sure that JJ felt the same way about the situation which might not end well.

When Heather asked about interests on their way to the party, Ellie couldn't help but laugh. "Well no one in particular but I intend to try and make my way through the half of the senior class I haven't already slept with before they graduate," she answered with a glint in her eyes and a smirk on her face, "And I intend to start at this party ladies."

"Oh Eli, don't you fret, just because there's another Aussie at Sliver Oaks doesn't mean we love you any less." She rolled her eyes and pat him on the chest. She knew how self-conscious he was, but that was the secret she'd always keep from him. Unless he seriously decided to fuck up their friendship, but she was pretty sure that she had gotten the point across that she'd likely kill him if he ever picked someone over her.

Carter was beginning to feel her buzz and there was no stopping her when she heard shots called out. That was her game, where she thrived. Alright, maybe it wasn't a game and maybe she had a problem... But, that wasn't the focus. Carter was surrounded by the people she liked to spend her time with. Carter wished that she felt closer to the people she was with, close like she was with her cousin, close like she was with the real Eli.

The four girls were a crew, they were the top of the school, of course Carter never pictured herself here. She never thought she would be part of the popular crew when she was in middle school before her parents sent her off. Party girl, sure, popular, never.

"Beck." Carter smiled before wrapping her arms around the girls neck. "Late as always." She laughed lightly. She released the blonde from her arms before nudging her with her shoulder. "How was Greece?" Carter asked as Tatum poured out shots for the four of them.

"Like you have to tell me twice." Carter wouldn't ever say no to shots, she smirked as she picked up her own glass and toasted the other three girls. "Our year." Carter didn't believe that this would be her year, it wasn't ever 'her year' but she was willing to fake it till she made it at least.

Carter watched as Eli wandered off, it was relatively on schedule for him. He usually would wander off to find some fresh blonde, that didn't know about his tendencies. No relationships, no feelings, just sex. Most girls tended to fall for that accent first, and then realize later they weren't actually going to change for him. That and Carter usually scared them off.

However, it was weird that this time he drifted towards Stu and Graham, that happened to be extremely out of character for him, his first night back at least.

As the toast was returned, Carter took the shot without even a small scowl as the drink went down. "So round two???" She placed the glass back on the table rather abruptly. Carter was ready to get drunk and get drunk now. She winked at the girls around her and kept her eyes out on the crowd, Eli wasn't the only one allowed to have fun, but her eyes kept drifting back to Beck and the girls.

Stu

b6KBMuK.gif

Sports? It seemed anomalous that a loser of the highest calibre like Stu would actually be good at anything requiring physical effort. But it turns out Stu was actually good at football, or what they call 'soccer' in these here illiterate parts. When he was younger, he played in decent team and was even brought into the lineup and promoted to number 10. That little blond kid showed great promise of some day bringing fame to his little school on the east corner of Sheep Street. So… what happened? What went wrong? How did he go from being well-liked by his teachers and friends to... “Hi, my name is Neck Tie and my best friend is Graham”?

That wasn’t the end of his misery. As his luck would have it, the only sport he was good at had to be the one the Americans didn’t care much for, which didn’t help his chances of pulling himself out of loserdom. It didn’t help either that last year, he signed up for ‘football’ mistaking it for ‘soccer’, and knowing nothing about that sport, he ended up making a mockery of himself in front of a crowd of spectators, who subsequently broke into a chant of “Neck Tie, Neck Tie, Neck Tie…”. Some were thoughtful enough to pull out their phones and document the disaster as it unfolded. Thus the single most humiliating occasion of his life was happily broadcast to the twitterverse, and the name of ‘Neck Tie’ was inducted into the Silver Oak hall of shame, where it had stayed now for a total of… 364 days... and counting.

Graham was right. This year's tryouts were a chance for him to undo his great and total cock-up of the previous. And all he had to do was get himself onto a soccer team (and make sure it was actually soccer this time), and play the right kind of ‘memorable football’ that didn't end in tears and misery. Even if the kids at Silver Oak didn’t care much for soccer, they surely were not impervious to the allure of shiny objects, and a cabinet full of glittering trophies might change their impression of him yet!!! So in just a few months’ time, he could be signing autographs and taking selfies with girls. He might have his own fan club of KitKat enthusiasts and the like!

While he was still musing about his bright future, his best friend Billy Elliot suddenly mentioned a dance floor.

‘…God, do you really have to?’ Stu pleaded with a squint of his eyes. Graham doing ballet was exactly the type of thing that was going to bring the unwanted attention they didn't need. And as much as Stu supported Graham in his career aspirations, be it ballet or bolero or salsa... he also supported them hopefully not ending this night in a hospital.

Speaking of the devil, that unwanted attention came surely enough, when the older kid approached them. A worthless bully, no doubt, drunk out of his mind! While Graham stammered hopelessly and displayed their weakness for the world to see, Stu knew he had better take matters into his own hands, stand up to the bullies and yada yada and all that good stuff…

He took a bold step forward.

‘Maybe. . . you’ve had too much to drink,’ Stu suggested. Not in a rude tone, of course. Oh God, what if the guy thought he was being rude?

He immediately regretted this decision, and withdrew his step so that he was standing next to Graham again. Well, there was small comfort in the fact that if the bully did come after them, all he had to do was outrun Graham. Which was not an impossible task, seeing as he used to be a striker in a soccer team!!

Vered Demsky

Vered was a bit tongue-tied at the moment. The man talking to him was clearly intoxicated. Not very intoxicated, mind you, but enough that Vered could recognize it. He'd read a fair amount about what substances can do to a human being. By the end of the night, probably everyone would be hammered, which would hopefully be Vered's chance to escape to his room and go to sleep. His half-empty dorm was sounding more and more inviting. (Maybe they'd just forgotten to assign him a roommate? Or maybe the numbers just weren't quite working, so they had to put him alone?)

He could drop his suspenders to his sides, though he feared they might catch on something. His shirt, he wouldn't unbutton far past the collarbone. Frankly, even that much felt a little revealing. At least the soda's good. The stranger handed him a necklace, with what appeared to be a cross on it.

Despite being a man of science, Vered took his faith and heritage relatively seriously. Not wildly seriously, mind you, he didn't go to temple every week, sometimes he'd dare to study on shabbat and, if he was feeling particularly impish, he'd break kosher law when his parents weren't around. His rabbi had told him that, technically, there's no such thing as a bad Jew, and a person who considers themselves a Jew can really put as much effort as they deem fit. He wore his yarmulke almost all the time, unless it would really get in the way. And as for a Christian cross, well, he'd hardly ever touched one in his life.

Though he wasn't being forced to do anything, Vered feared the potential ramifications of turning away this man's advice, even on religious principles. Middle school had been pretty ruthless, and he'd heard high school is even worse. Getting his name tossed into the ever-spinning rumor mill would not only make all of his efforts to get into Silver Oak completely pointless, but would also get in the way of his studies. People will take anything as an insult. For all he knew, pushing back against this guy could get him with his head in the toilet and his pants dangling off of the nearest flagpole. At least he wasn't a girl. High school girls were twice as ruthless as high school guys. His only worry was that he wouldn't get his cap back by the end of the night, and he'd have to go searching for this guy tomorrow.

In short, his fear of societal rejection outweighed his fear of the Lord. Lucky for him, Jews don't believe in Hell, so this lapse wouldn't get him in too much trouble.

He clasped the chain around his neck. It was cold against his skin, a sensation he was beyond unaccustomed to. He swiftly unclipped his yarmulke and stuffed it in his pocket, hoping the man wouldn't insist he hand it over.

"Uh, Vered." He cleared his throat. "My name, I mean. Vered." Apparently, his name was a little on the exotic side. Frankly, Vered wouldn't have known if people hadn't said so. Sure, he didn't know any other Vereds, but he'd also only met one Bob in his life, and that's a perfectly standard name. Now he felt a little underdressed, a bit exposed, but this was just one time. Tomorrow, he'd be back to his standard style of dress.

Chase

KqQf.gif

"Don't worry, if you are a light weight I'll just have to throw you over my shoulder." Chase joked, he could see Harper's hesitation when she took the drink from him even though she tried to hide it. At least she was having her first drink with friends who would take care of her, even if she did handle her alcohol badly they were within walking distance of the dorms and there were plenty of friends present who would happily take care of her.

"To a good year." He toasted with Harper, lightly tapping his beer against her plastic cup. It had been along summer, Chase desperately hoped that his last year would be a good one, that he would figure out exactly what it was that he wanted and finally get some peace of mind. He had a great girlfriend, great friends, and a great shot at getting into the school that he wanted. So why wasn't he happy?

He felt suffocated, he'd spent all summer avoiding his friends and running from his problems, now that he couldn't run anymore he was starting to feel overwhelmed. Every time Harper kissed him all he could think about were Noah's lips on his, he felt guilty every time any of his friends looked at him.

"Harper, you don't need to chug it." He rolled his eyes at Zach, though he knew he was just trying to loosen her up and help her relax. It wasn't like Harper was going to blackout from one drink, but he still worried about her.

'Noah, I'm going to get another beer, do you want to come?" He asked, hoping that he would take the hint and follow after him so that they could talk. If they were going to talk tonight they needed to do it now, before either of them were too drunk to be rational. This was already a conversation that Chase wasn't looking froward to, but it was necessary and the sooner he could get it over with the better.

Ronnie "Blue Nile" Kane

The less you knew about Ronnie Kane, the more you’d question why he arrived to the party squandering wealth, scraping silver chains between his teeth and dangling salmon-colored, cat-eyed Fendi glasses on the protruding point of his nose. Tags or no tags, here was a boy whose statuary was crested out in thorough designer, in such a binding way, on-lookers bridled with judgement. Something about Ronnie Kane sat idly at nonsense; Nobody could instantly love him, but neither could anybody instantly hate him.

But f**k, was he high as kite...

The moon outside might’ve been sitting on it’s crescent bow with as much luster as splitting diamond, but if Ronnie even raked his head back even in the softest plow, he knew his eyes wouldn’t return down. So, he stood there, at the hollow far end of the field of grass, eyes watery as the stoked flames crackled and threw a spit of burning embers. Chortles of laughter echoed like a weakly wired radio, bare-footers chased each other with plastic red cups, people vulnerized to sickly wilderment. The bonfire had snared people and their sanities.

All was fine, though.

Ronnie Kane, himself was an infamous tale of sanity driven insanity- a story closed too fast.

Something Raven Rivera would say.

“Smooth move, Ex-lax,” he liberally told a passerby who he was well acquainted with through supplying, tumbling footwork closer towards the fire, “Next time, why don’t you just tell her you wanna bone her?”

Dumbasses.

Wrapping around a couple bodies that giggled, he found his mouth tickle with a grin. He leaned into coconut-peach smelling hair of some complete stranger, regressing his forehead to hers.

“Hey, pigeon,” he narrated to her with a listless tongue that he could barely feel, “How would you like these glasses?” Shaking his forehead, the glasses slipped nearly off his nose, but with some painfully tricky determination, his fingers faltered it from clattering on the ground. Hooking them behind the stranger’s ears, he complacently disintegrated from the clutter till he was a single shadow by the fire once again.

Noah on rocks comres 2.gif
Before long, the already-large circle had gotten bigger by two when Andrea and her friend Sebastian had joined in. Andrea and Noah were friends, perhaps not the closest, but they did share some fun moments together, and Noah definitely appreciated the aloofness the girl had radiated every time he would hang out with her.

Noah definitely didn't appreciate the way Zach had been pressuring Harper into drinking, even though he knew Zach didn't do it because he wanted to set her up, but more because he wanted her to chill and relax, something she usually had a problem with doing, especially in a place where she wasn't comfortable, which a party definitely was. He didn't want to start another burn war with Zach because he genuinely didn't feel like roasting him anymore, and was thankful when Chase said at least something about not needing to drink to Harper.

"Uh? Yeah, sure?" Noah answered Chase's proposal, genuinely unsure of his intentions seeing the 'conversation' could go in more than one direction. With the group circle getting kind of crowded, tipsy Noah didn't really want to be around so many people. It was getting hard to keep track of everyone and with that, listening to so many conversations going on around him made Noah sleepy and confused.

"And you," Noah pointed at Zach. "Don't peer pressure her into drinking because you'll be the one carrying her to her dorm," Noah said, stating the obvious before walking past Chase, the usual smile which could be seen on his face now completely faded, leaving a simple resting bitch face.

He had continued to walk, not caring if Chase was following behind him, and not even looking back to make sure that was the case. Even with some alcohol in him, now away from the loudness of the group, Noah was angry about so many things concerning Chase, and he didn't know how to not rash out at him right then and there, which he definitely would've done.

"You'd be a great tutor Flo, I wouldn't have gotten through chemistry without you last year." Harper smiled, she had really relied on Florence more than she would of ever expected. "It's an awesome idea." Harper was confident in Flo's ability to help the student's how lacked the motivation to actually pay attention in class, and she might as well make some money off of it while she was at it.

Everyone started to scatter to the fire, joining the rest of the teens to dance by the fire. She began to feel relief now that the group was slowly shrinking. Even though, a part of her wanted to follow, however, the other part of her wouldn't even let her feet move. But, she was happy where she was, next to her boyfriend and with her closest friends.

Harper rolled her eyes as Zach made fun of her slowly nursing her drink. Despite his teasing, she knew it was all in good fun and a smirk grew on her face. She felt challenged by Zach, but everyone wanted her to hold back. And that made her want to push herself just that much further. But, she didn't listen. Not right away anyways. Noah and Chase were concerned, and she appreciated them and everything they did. But, she felt like they were babying her still. She didn't want to feel like the baby of the group anymore. She didn't want to be the baby, or the only sober one of the group.

So when Zach bet her, it was tough for her to resist the temptation of downing her drink then and there. But she held off, Chase was right she didn't have too, Keoka said the same thing earlier. She didn't have to take a drink either, but here she was. Harper laughed as Noah threatened Zach before he followed after Chase back to the drinks table.

It was just her and Zach, and no more judgement surrounding her for making a choice that most of the teens did at this school everyday. Everyone else that surrounded them didn't know her.

Harper's eyes had a glint of mischief to them as she looked up and into Zach's. She lifted the drink to her lips, watching him from over the lip of the cup before tipping her head back and chugging most of it. The carbonation burned just a bit, or maybe that was the vodka. She wasn't too sure.

"So." She smirked as she brought the cup back down. "How about that real drink."

“More like I made up having natural musical talent,” Colby murmured modestly after Ian’s remark. While walking to the party location with Ian and Elena, he was somewhere between comfortable and awkward. Maybe inviting Ian as a third wheel wasn’t the best idea. Then again, when was bringing a third wheel ever a good idea? Well, it might be for some... no, Colby wasn’t going to finish that thought.

The party was already bustling when the trio got arrived. Judging by the direction that some of the students are going, the party was also inside the observatory building. Colby could see a bonfire near the lake and a bunch of partygoers hanging around and dancing there. This was a familiar scene for him, though the parties Colby had been to weren’t usually at expensive boarding schools, and he really went to parties a few times per month, not always. Still, it was nice having a break from his daily life.

“Well, I think I’m gonna visit that table with bottles and snacks first,” Colby said, patting Ian’s shoulder reassuringly. “Hey, I think your friend is here, too, the one named after a state. What was it, Arizona? One of the states starting with A.” Early drinking must’ve made his memory a bit fuzzy, but Colby was sure Ian’s friend wasn’t named Arkansas.

“Anyway,” Colby continued, turning to Elena. “I’ll grab us drinks at the table if that’s okay with you?” he offered with an innocent smile, already taking a few steps to the direction. No, he wasn’t using this as an excuse to ditch her. This was a polite gesture, and Aeliana would be able to see him at the table from afar unless she got pulled away by her Greek friend or something. Colby genuinely wanted her to let loose a bit at this event. She should have fun once in a while, too.

Andrea King
Andrea was smiling at the group when she felt a hand on her wrist, pulling her body in the direction the bonfire where many other students occupied the space. She thought she'd heard Flo say something, but the bass of the music surrounding them drowned out the voices of other people relatively well, so she was still in confusion on who'd pulled her here. Her smile visibly widened when she realized it had in fact been Flo who'd beckoned her t the crowded bonfire, a small sigh of relief leaving her lips. "Yeah what she said, I'd very much appreciate leaving here without burn mark" she joked, sending a quick wink to the girl. She could feel the heat visibly picking up due to the many bodies around and the heat from the bonfire, resulting in the back of her hand continuously moving up to her forehead to wipe sweat droplets away. Turning her head back to the now distant group, she saw that the spot Sebastian had once occupied was empty and she shook her head, lowly muttering "He better not have left the party".

Instead of standing around like a buzzkill Andrea quickly started dancing, although onlookers couldn't really say the same. Sure, the girl was athletically gifted and could pick up many sports quickly, but what she could never do was dance. It was as if God skipped over her when giving the genes because everyone, and I mean everyone, in her family could dance except her. In the fifth grade when she auditioned to be in the school's dance she was rejected due to the fact that, and I quote, "Her issue is worse than that of having two left feet, it's seems like it'd be better if she had none". So the snickers she heard around her from the surrounding students wasn't new per say, but it did cause a slight tint of red to make it's way to her face in embarrassment. Clearing her throat, she looked back to the two girls who'd she'd arrived at the bonfire with and clasped her hands in front of her chest.

"Y'know I was just about to get something to drink, so any requests Flo and..." she questioned, and immediately remembered she hadn't gotten the other girl's name. "Fuck, I'm so out of it today, what's your name?" she questioned, sending a pout to the younger girl. Andrea knew just how hard it was being the younger kid at the school, and so far she'd done a bad job at being inviting. Her list included horrible dancing that'd scar one for life, not getting her name and literally forgetting her existence. Just great. "And I'm not bringing anything extra, so if you were thinking of going all out..." she started, sending a pointed look to Florence. "Don't. Anyone without the name of Florence is an exception" she joked, sending smile to the two girls before her. Standing next to this fire in a jean jacket was really not a good idea, so she was hoping the girls would make their mind's up quickly so she could escape it's burning heat for a moment.

Alaska

giphy.gif

Moments after Alaska arrived, Beck came to join the group and the gang was finally all here. The four girls were known to get into quite a bit of trouble, and the way this year was starting off it seemed this year would be no different. Alaska took the shot Tatum had poured, a wide grin on her face as she did. Summer had been pretty mild for the Vaughn girl, she was ready to let loose and enjoy her junior year with her closest friends.

"To our drunkest year yet." She cheersed to her friends, taking the shot and smiling as the warm liquid fell tingled through her whole body. It was the first week of school, which meant no responsibilities, no homework, nothing but fun. The four of them could get into as much trouble as they wanted this weekend before the school year started to get more hectic and busy. Her hockey season would start soon, which meant lots of traveling and practice times, her party weekends would be limited which meant she'd have to go all out when she could.

A familiar head of blond hair walked in as she was waiting for Carter to pour more drinks, sending a shy smile Ian's way where he stood with his friends. It was strange to see him with Elena, Alaska couldn't stand the girl which made it even more strange. She would wait for another drink with her friends before saying hi to him, they had talked a bit over the summer and she'd missed him, but she didn't want to leave her friends when she'd just arrived. They would tease her endlessly for abandoning them for some guy.

Madi Lexington-Montgomery
Madi Gif 59.gif

When Hayden had told her it was okay, Madeleine had just nodded like she understood, but she was still biting her lip in doubt. It was just the way she was raised. In her family she was there to make sure everyone else had what they needed, make sure they were happy, that was her job. Sure they loved her a lot they all did and her brothers handled her a little differently at school, even keeping her lacrosse secret from their parents, but at home they slipped back a bit. In the Lexington-Montgomery household it was all about pleasing their father. That meant doing exactly what he expected of you, when he expected it of you and just generally being perfect. Grades below an A- were most definitely not acceptable and they boys were expected to participate in sports. Madi on the other hand, was not supposed to do sports. She got away with track because she said it kept her slim which her father couldn't argue to much with but other than that he wanted her to focus on her piano skills and her 'social skills' as it were. Somehow though, Madi didn't think that certain social skills required of a Silver Oak party were what her father had in mind.

"My poison would be water but I don't think they have that here somehow," Madi answered her friend with a half smile tugging at her lips. "But I do think you're right about the fire, I may have underestimated how cold it was going to be up here." Being in a short strappy dress had maybe not been the way to go tonight. Sure it was warm during the day but of course it got colder at night which somehow she'd managed to forget like an idiot and now found herself wrapping her arms around herself.

When Brayden pointed Tatum out, she wasn't hard to spot. She was part of the popular girls, the party girls, the girls Madi could never and would never be like. The group she was with were like one of the shining epicentres of the party, the people you couldn't help but notice. "That she does Brayden, that she does," she nodded in agreement with the first part of his statement. "Thank you for the heads up. I shall have to do my best to avoid upsetting her." Not that she would ever try and upset someone of course, never never never, but it would just mean taking extra care not to that was all.
