I also picture a hint of the AD Police from Bubblegum Crisis in this.

I don't think I've seen it.

But yeah! That... fits "him" accurately! CIA analyst (information specialist) become ESWAT (Mechanized Infantry + ESWAT).

So... this kind of character is the type who can figure out what's what and who's who prior and during confrontations, but can still take part when the lead starts flying. Kind of like that smart bearded fellow from Kusanagi's Section Six (the one who dives for information). In the manga, he's in the Fuchikomas taking part too. "RAT BASTARDS!!" =)

I think I'd like to play someone in that role. =)

EDIT: Ishikawa's his name. Got Kaerri's manga copy of Ghost in the Shell right here thanks to her. =)

Great! Write them down before they flutter away! Ha ha! =)

If you ever get a chance, Bubblegum Crisis is a great short series to watch. It was made back in the 80's, and for a long time was the standard by which other anime series was judged by.

Huh! Really? I remember that it was popular but I didn't know it was the benchmark. Do you prefer the "anime" (movie, animated series, etc.) over the manga?

I've not seen the manga, but the series is top rate. It has eight episodes to it, with three bonus episodes in a follow up series called Bubblegum Crash. There is a longer series that is a remake of it called Bubblegum Crisis 2040, which goes into more detail on the characters that is really good, too.

Hmm! If I see it for a good price, I may pick it up. Thanks for the lead! =)

And something tells me that this isn't going to be a simple repeat of the first Psychie goes ASC game. =)

Back to smoothing out the character. Thanks for the help, both of you. Now I know what I'm playing with an idea as to whom.

That's a lot more than I had 24 hours ago. =)

If anyone's interested:

Swapped P.B. and M.A. (good looking but more social than Felis. Far more).
Subtracted all benefits from lost Physical skills (went from P.S. 28 to 16, from 84 S.D.C. to 26. Sounds like a desk jockey to me!). =)
Adjusted OOC bonuses from Recon to GMP.
Adjusted Secondary skill selection (you know you must be a roleplayer and not a munchkin when you select Spanish over Boxing!). =)
+0 to Roll with Punch. This may be the first time I've ever had a Palladium sci-fi character with a +0 to roll. =)

Still have a lot of questions about who this character is on the inside. It will be fun unraveling the mystery! =)

Great! I'm almost ready to play - I know what I've got but not... whom? I'd at least like to have a gender for this person prior to start (not that either of you are pushing; it's just me pushing myself).

I was caught by a line whilst rereading almost all of Ghost in the Shell last night - when Boma arrives with the anti-tank weapon, he is asked where he got it from. His reply? "Ol' Ape-face got it from Miyazaki..." There is a strong chance here, I think, that Shirow Masamune is referring to the one and only Hayou Miyazaki of Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind excellence.

So I was thinking of calling my character Miyazaki.

Psychie Psychie Sherwood Sherwood WlfSamurai WlfSamurai Go ahead and start it up, Psychie? Maybe by having something new to read it'll help me figure out Miyazaki a little more? Besides, especially after last night's conversation here, I think Sherwood and I are really looking forward to what you've got planned here.

And with this COVID-19 "kicking my ass" (I am one moment feeling good and the next feeling drained and back and forth it goes), I could use the distraction from it if you please.

EDIT: In the meantime, I'm going to reach for my Appleseed manga and peruse that. After all, thanks to your green light and the help from both of you, I have a GMP character in "ESWAT"! =)

Hmm.... *puts down Appleseed Book One after having read the first two chapters.* Hey Psychie Psychie ?

Are there any androids in Robotech? I mean, real human-like robots? And certainly nothing like Bioroids from Appleseed, right?

I think I'd like Miyazaki to be something like Hitomi from Appleseed - a fully-trusted independent unit totally loyal to the UEG and trained especially for counter-terrorism and analyst work with combat capabilities. But somehow making her entirely human isn't working for me.

So... cybernetics aren't a thing in Robotech so I gather androids probably aren't either. So... how about a recently-grown Meltrandi clone? A "Cera" if you will (though definitely not to Cera's extremes with technopathy and all that!)? A recently grown and developed Meltrandi (like within two years or so like Felis) that never served under Lord Dolza against humanity, made for Auxiliary Specialist work? A female Exedore but suited for ESWAT work and thus well-suited for the Malconent situation in Brazil? Fully invested and fully trusted "for government work" and therefore for GMP/UEGs own "government agenda" (whatever you might want that to actually be)?

This would make for an interesting character, perhaps a "lucky charm" of sorts to add to a Spartas company, whose abilities and integrity are unquestionable - but being new to the world, she lacks experience. Kind of like a Meltrandi Appleseed Hitomi with combat skills I'm thinking?

What do you think? Sherwood? How'sabout you?

I personally like that idea. I'm still debating on just how Steven will feel about the Zentraedi as a whole, and Nova and now Dannigan's character in specific. I won't be overly hostile to Nova and Miyazaki, but he may have a few hard feelings to work out over the Rain of Fire that wiped out so many people, even considering that the only reason why Earth survived the attack was the one fleet under Lord Breetai defecting to our side and joining forces with the SDF-1 and the Earth defenders.

Psychie Psychie How well do we know one another prior to game start, if at all? Are we an established squad already, or are we getting assigned to work together for the first time at game start? It will help to give me some ideas on how to react to Nova and Miyazaki.

Thanks but please keep in mind that just because I wrote it doesn't mean it's in effect. Not my gig but Psychie's. Heh!

I await her decision. If she doesn't like this idea of mine, I'll come up with another. Covid-19 or no, I'm still creative and willing to roll with whatever comes along.

Concerning names only, I think I like the idea of Miyazaki also going simply by... "Miya" and answering to both? I'm getting ahead of myself. I ought to find out what Psychie wants to do.

My body got cold inside again so I'm typing all this from a nice warm bath. Ever get into a bath and just not want to come out for a long time? =)

Did you guys get the chills too when you had it?

Oh, Sherwood. To piggyback on that previous question of yours, I also like the idea of our party knowing each other at least for the sake of cohesion. But if we do, I would like a small list of quirks and habits from each character?

Knowing these little things I think is part of the grease that makes teams roll smoothly. Either we know each other or we don't, right? =)

Good point. Lets see what our beloved Psychster has to say about all this before we make too many plans.

What a cool as hell shot, Psychie! Would you mind giving credit to it? I like to sometimes follow the links and find interesting things they sometimes lead to.
I just Googled 'Robotech Wallpapers Hover Tank' and it came up. I think it is a screenshot from the series, but I am not 100% certain of that.

To my knowledge, there are no cyborgs in Robotech except for the bio-experiments that the Invid have done to people, grafting mechanical limbs on their bodies or replacing large chunks of their torso with MDC materials. However, looking at the tech level, I have no problems pulling in some cyberware from the Rifts books to add to this, especially if a character gets badly injured and needs it. But that will come later. Right now, I don't see any of the team having cyberware parts on them.

In the source materials, there is an AI robot named Janice that was built by Dr. Lang (the scientist that pretty much invented the Veritech and has literally written the book on Robotechnology for humans), but she is a one-off, and it wouldn't be cool to have one player be a robot and not give something of equal value to the others, so that is off the table. But a Meltrandi clone is quite doable.

I can see Miya being very young, having been one of a very few Zentraedi that were recently grown after the showdown with the SDF-1 and Lord Dolza, and taken in by the newly formed ASC to begin her education.

You have all been in the same initial training platoon for the VHTs, so you are at least somewhat familiar with one another, if not quite well acquainted, going through first the simulators, then onto live driving the tanks around the fields surrounding Monument City. We will be starting the game out a day after your graduation from tank school and being assigned to squads for deployment to duty stations around the world.
