Samuel was out in the barn of his ranch as another spring shower passed overhead. He had just finished feeding his livestock for the day and was laying out some fresh hay for them as Shiloh, the young mares he was breaking in was continually following behind him and snorting, nudging him with her nose every chance she got, obviously looking for a treat. Eventually laughing softly and giving in Samuel tossed down the last of the hay "You are relentless you know that?" he commented as he sat on one of the empty crates nar the door and pulled out a carrot out of the pocket of his hoodie that he had kept for her "Here" he offered holding it out for her so she wouldn't scoff down the whole thing at once. He was finishing his work early today, just as he had yesterday. His reason primarily wanting to check in on Lumina at the clinic both times. After what had happened at the festival, Sam had stayed with Lumina right through until that morning until Rhys had sent him home upon Elliot's arrival. Unfortunately Lumina had not woke up during this time nor the day after either which made everyone feel a little uneasy. He had dropped in a few times over the weekend and he wasn't the only one either. Emily seemed to be stopping in as well when she could.

As Shiloh had finished her treat and was already pestering him for another Sam heard his phone go off. Trying to ignore the overexcited pinto to check his messages he pulled the phone from his pocket to check it as his other hand patted Shiloh's mane. It was from Amelia. He immediately opened it and surely enough it was a message letting him know Lumina was awake. Since Amelia would obviously hanging around the clinic he had asked her to let him know if Lumina had improved any and sure enough she had done so. After all, he was with her when she had passed out of course he would want to know she was okay. With that he took Shiloh out to the field so she could get some grazing done while the weather was somewhat clear before getting ready to stop in at the clinic as much as he'd want to stop in right away he'd at least give her brother some time to talk with her first since family obviously came first.

By the time Sam had made it down to the Clinic he had already spotted Emily popping in before him, obviously trying to visit during her time off. "Morning!" he greeted as he peeked his head in through the clinic door first before stepping in to spot Emily and Elliot right away. Amelia wasn't at the front desk upon his arrival, he assumed that she was fetching Rhys. If that was the case, he'd wait there for now with Emily and go in whenever Rhys gave the okay for non family to check in on her.

Misty perked up as she heard Darius, grinning as she hopped on into the shop. Hey! Look... She lifted the basket up so that he could see, excited as she walked up to the counter. I got the goods! With an exaggerated yet gentle flourish, she set the basket down on the table and regarded Darius with a serious expression. However, there was not mistaking the lighthearted yet hush tone of her voice. You Know what must be done...

Doctor Rhys W. Wright
As rain softly pattered on the roof of the clinic, Rhys set a warm cup of tea on his desk. The brown liquid instantly warmed Rhys, giving him a tad more energy as he continued his work through the wet, dreary day. The last few days were rough, to say the least. On the night of the dance, Rhys stayed with Lumina much longer than he should have and ended up going home extremely late. Or rather, extremely early. As he woke up early in the morning after 3 hours of sleep, still groggy from pushing himself to stay up, he noticed that Lumina still wasn't awake, and concern began to creep into his thoughts. She'd be up by now, normally. Still, Rhys took care of business as usual though, albeit a bit more zombie-like than normal. Elliot came in during this time, and after a brief introduction, he let him go see his sister. Rhys tried not to bother them too much. At best, hospital visits were emotionally draining. He couldn't relate, but he understood. During his breaks, he'd pop in, update Elliot, and offer to go grab food. It was the least he could do. After managing visitors, taking tests and checking results, and various paperwork, Rhys was completely exhausted. It was kind of funny, really, how after 6 months of being a doctor, Rhys still wasn't used to this lifestyle yet. Nevertheless, this is what he wanted. Just one of the many ways he can help.

Now, Rhys sat at his desk, scratching away at the paper in his journal with his pencil. As always, Rhys was writing a letter. Not specific to any one person, but a generalized one to his family back home. Tiny droplets of tea stained his white lab coat as while he sipped, relaxed for the first time in a few days. For Rhys, writing letters was a destresser and gave his racing mind a break. He planned to do some writing later on as well, but instead of letters, research. Unfortunately, Rhys hadn't had the chance to do any of the research he wanted to do, but hopefully, after Lumina awoke and things had settled down, he'd be able to give the library a visit. Rhys looked up as the front door carefully opened up, and the timid Miss Emily stepped in. She had been visiting Lumina daily, along with a few others. She spoke about wanting to see Lumina, and in reply, Rhys said, "Of course, dearie. I'll let Amelia know you're here." The door to Lumina's room opened, and out came Elliot. Rhys heard what he said, and immediately dropped what he was doing, not even closing his journal. He turned towards Emily, trying to address her before rushing to the room. "I'll be back with you soon. Allow me to get her sorted out, okay?"

Rhys followed Elliot to Lumina's room, noticing that Amelia was already two steps ahead of him. He entered, and Lumina was sitting upright in her bed, eyelids still heavy, but awake. He walked towards the bedside, pulling over a chair to sit in. Once settled, he spoke."Good morning, Lumina. Sleep well? You've been out for a couple of days. Are you feeling okay? Any pain?" A hint of joy seeped into his voice as he asked various questions. He couldn't help it. Things could have been much worse, after all.

• Vivi Darling •

I cannot handle this any longer!

The front door to Darling Designs slammed shut, the sign smacking against the glass and threatening to give it a crack. The blonde woman that scurried out of the dimly lit store winced at the thought that she almost inflicted even more frustrations on herself. Her hair was in disarray - frizzy and untamed. Her eyes were puffy and pink with her nose kissed with a flushed color. Her cheeks burned with both a fever and irritation. She shuffled for her keys and gave the door a quick lock before walking off with a huff and a puff. As she clicked her heels against the stone of the sidewalk, she felt something tickle her ankle.

"Hm?" She muttered, looking towards the earth. Underneath her shoe was a now tarnished letter that was decorated with her shoe print and the dampness of the day. Vivi reached down, taking hold of the letter to squint her eyes at the messy font on the cover of the envelope. Was it another hate letter from a woman she forgot to deliver the wedding dress to? All these silly women in such a rush to get married and always pumping her schedule full with white nightmares... she was so sick of wedding dresses. But no, this font was too messy for even a furious bride. With her other hand, Vivi wiped away even more of the sinister snot oozing from her nose and blinked at the envelope. Perhaps a new order? God, please don't let it be another wedding dress.

She began to walk forward again, marching to her destination while tearing the envelope apart. She shoved the ripped paper under her arm, unfolding the letter as her feet continued forth. The handwriting was absolutely atrocious! Was this... food stuck onto it? She shook in disgust as she attempted to translate whatever chicken scratch she was attempting to read.

"Dear Vivi Darling, my darlin-
I miss the days I would see you dance on stage and sing about true love - pure love --"

Aaand that's enough of that! Vivi snatched the envelope from under her arm and balled up both pieces of paper, not even continuing the letter. Her heart pattered in her chest. How on earth did someone find out where she had moved to? Someone from her idol days, as well! Her eyebrows furrowed as her pace quickened and thundered towards her destination. It had to be someone from town playing a prank on her! There was no way someone could have possibly found her. They obviously were using their non-dominant hand for the writing to make her think it was someone else. The absolute nerve of some people! Ha ha, how funny. She's a retired idol -- hilarious! Was this to pick at her for missing the spring festival and not attending the dance? It was just because of her allergies -- geez!

"How RUDE!" Vivi barked out, letting out an aggressive sniffle to tame both her nerves and her snot. True love? Pure love? Pah! Was this a joke to pressure her into finding someone because she was getting old? Then the idol day ghosts would stop haunting her? Her mind raced to every assumption possible. She could practically feel the steam seeping from her ears. "The nerve! How rude! HOW RUDE!"

With a grunt, Vivi pushed open the door to the doctor's office and wiped her nose, still gripping at the crumpled up letter.

"Excuse me, doctor! I need a shot for these freakin' allergies -- stat!" Vivi unintentionally demanded, practically throwing her coat onto the coat rack. She huffed and puffed, straightening her skirt and brushing her fingers through her hair so she didn't quite look the way she felt. Adjusting the belt on her waist, she carried herself into his office and flipped her hair over her shoulder as her eyes searched for a trash can to toss this garbage into. "I cannot handle these allergies anymore. Cut off my nose, if you have to! I -- oh..."

Vivi's cheeks burned with embarrassment as she entered the doctor's office and saw him with a patient, as well as someone else. She was so lost in her mind that she hadn't even taken the time to remember that some poor girl had fainted at the festival. She seemed to be awake. Did she wake her from all her shouting? She panicked, looking back at the waiting room and saw that her coat had missed the coat rack completely and she had thrown her clothing onto the poor boy in the waiting room. "O-oh, I'm so sorry."

Magic Loving Librarian
Thomas Pasquerella
SPOILER_Pengruoxibh.png
The previous night's activities left Thomas questioning his own mortality. He was healthy, he knew that thanks to his last check-up at the doctor. However, that didn't stop his mind and imagination from wandering into old places. When the doctor arrived at the scene last night Thomas couldn't help but think of the times before he came to Kore. It seemed like the hospital used to be his second home, Not that he was the one admitted. No, his mother never had the best of health. Just thinking of her made Thomas smell the sterile environment. If he closed his eyes he could see the shiny white tiled floors, florescent-lit rooms, the light blue gowns patients had to wear; and most of all, the mechanical and digital sounds of medical equipment. It wasn't until he was twelve that he noticed his mother's health problems, and that same year she started speading half her time there. Thomas became the regular donor of blood when it was needed, sharing a red blood type with his mother. So many memories came flooding back to him when he realized the situation at the festival, Thomas felt rude, but he abandoned his dancing partner not long afterward.

When Thomas returned to the library he didn't flip the sign back to open, leaving the vast storage of books sealed away from the public for the remainder of the night. He barely managed to feed his cat before retiring to his apartment for the night. He didn't think to eat and barely managed to sleep. Instead, he spent the night tossing and turning in bed, between long stretches of staring towards the ceiling. It had been five years since Thomas came to Kore. In that time he barely interacted with his family back in the city. Calls on birthdays and holidays, and even then he missed some of those. Did he blame any of them for what happened? Not knowingly. It wasn't really anyone's fault, but that didn't matter to a child that just wants their mother back.

The last time Thomas saw on his clock was 5:42 AM. He dreamed briefly that he was talking to his mother about school, how if her health got better like the doctor said she could come and see the winter music his school was hosting. He woke up when the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor within the dream stopped. Drenched in cold sweat Thomas looked at the time once more. 7:38 AM. With a sigh, he began his day by going to the bathroom once more and running a bath, brushing his teeth as it filled. Half an hour later he begrudgingly got out, dried himself, then got dressed. After feeding his cat breakfast, Thomas decided to start dusting the library, taking time to flip the sign at the door to open. Having not eaten breakfast or dinner the night before, by 11 AM Thomas was frightfully hungry, but dreaded the hour he would have to wait to go to lunch.

Overhead is an endless glitter of cold and steady stars sprinkled on a cloudless pitch-black blanket. At the center is a slim crescent of silvery radiance amongst the jeweled inky sky. This was a heaven he has witnessed many times yet only once outside the realm of sleep. In the many variants of this dream only what’s above remains the same. He knows intimately how this field can glow green in those perfect Spring afternoons. But now it is a faint iridescent silver, the lush grass was still as an idyllic painting. Yes, he had laid in this field, beneath the sky above again and again. He can clearly hear the cricket chirps and cicadas sing. Off in the distance a whip-poor-will adds its distinctive call into the night. It all seemed as it was all those years ago yet like all the times in the world of sleep something was missing. He turns to the North where the hill and massive oak that rules this field stands. Instinctively his feet begin to move, he could feel the tall grass brush against his legs all the way up to the hip. He walked even though the rise never came closer.

All at once a mighty gust of wind blows across the once still meadow. It arrives in just the right way to expose a hidden sea of scarlet poppies that had been lurking beneath the tall grass. The poppies weren’t swayed by the gale even while the wind began to grow even more fierce. Incredibly his own body is also immune to the never-ending gust, but he couldn’t bring himself to continue onward to that hill and what waited there. All he could do was witness the same story unfold. The wind was now a deafening irregular whistle that tore all greenery from the earth. All except the poppies. As if waiting for the crimson ocean a dark foreboding fog rolled in that engulfed the world with incredible speed. A dry, black mist that carried with it a weak yet unpleasant smell that didn’t belong with the lingering fresh scent of the meadow. No longer was the sublime painting of sky above. There is only a suffocating darkness so total that he couldn’t tell if his eyes were even open.

Inside the nothingness he could feel that overwhelming gale begin to weaken, eventually start to hush. He didn’t hear the soft crepitation start to spread all around because he is so intently focused on the poppies. Once a deep scarlet, they were changing into an ever brightening orange. A low wave of this fire orange that not even an infinite night could swallow surrounded but stayed at a distance. An uncomfortable warmth started to coat him as that unpleasant smell grew into an acrid stench. Now the low wave was burning its way higher, intensely flickering as the fog lazily floated upwards. So preoccupied with this explosion of fire that he never noticed the earth was now a dark wooden floor and beneath the blaze are charred remnants of timber. A sheen of sweat had formed and now the roar of the flames filled his ears. At times great beams burst beneath the intense heat with mighty cracks that sound more like gun fire. It became impossible to breathe but the struggle for air meant little because the inferno was just about to consume him.

Yamazaki.Sosuke.full.1985436.jpg

Max awoke with a perfect indifference of manner suited for any normal day. He knew it was early even compared to his usual hours. The clock said it was an half past two. Real ungodly hour. Although he wanted that extra hour of sleep a good deal of practice had educated him that the effort would inevitably be for nothing. He didn’t spare another moment on contemplation and began his day with a light tremulous sigh. In the bathroom he ignored how a pair bloodshot eyes greeted him, those would eventually fade. While he brushed his teeth a whip-poor-will’s call echoed in the night. When he bathed the odd melancholy that hung over him was brushed away in order to focus on the day.

By dawn whatever semblance of the dream that lingered in his conscious mind had been returned to the far-off nether region. Banished temporarily to an area where memories hopefully but seldom ever were erased. For now it was gone and Max was able to solely concern himself with what would take place over the next several hours instead. His body and mind methodically driven in a way that wasn’t particularly required for such a smalltime bakery. To appear busier than he really was Max often threw in whatever chore could be found around the house. Anything to pass the time while nobody was visiting. At times like this his mind drifts to many things but currently had wandered back to the TMC. A restaurant that was well known for its food and eccentricity. Even the name was a crafted enigma that only Max and another two people know. At times the trio treated the operation more like a running gag than a business.

It would be a lie to say a part of him didn’t miss those days. Mentally and physically exhausting work yet wonderfully rewarding. The hours were officially nine but in reality closer to fifteen and in one day more people were served than an entire season in Kore. To handle such extremes required a number of very dependable people. Max had never experienced a closeness with coworkers as he did there. All of them shared a common goal which extended beyond just surviving the next rush. The hijinks of that year were fondly remembered. But then Max recalls how his feet, knees and at times hands were abused. Being able to fall asleep without the assistance of painkillers or nearly drinking himself silly was far more congenial. So for all except a few fleeting moments Max was entirely content with his little shop and his typical routine.

D454FrMVUAEqLGv.jpeg

Routines or schedules were not something the man that Max, sans his almost ever-present apron and headwrap, was in conversation with ever had. The mere fact that he travelled all this way without warning was evidence enough. Currently they are making the short walk to the clinic, but are so engrossed in talk to notice other people also heading there. The other man is taller by just enough to notice while being visibly slighter in frame than Max. He is dressed far better than the baker, and most probably every other villager excluding a certain florist. The fine clothing covers a slender frame with muscles that promise both agility and strength. A pair of narrow emerald green eyes enhance his already handsome face. They are eyes that rarely miss any detail but only with the assistance of glasses. Without them he’s helpless as a newborn.

To say these men know each other would be an understatement. They grew up across the street from each other and probably spent more time together than with their actual family. In their youth they got into more than a handful of misadventures. Somehow Max ended up getting the raw end of a majority of those deals. When they headed off to the Academy it was only natural that they ended up as roommates and when Marcus married his choice for best man needed no consideration. The two men even shared in the indignity of having dates introduced to the baby album and all the details Marcus’ jubilant mother happily gave. So Max was confident that his friend would behave while he asked about Lumina’s condition, but just to be sure he gave a stern warning glance before they entered.

“Afternoon everybody.” Max greets quietly, mildly surprised at the amount of people also present. He didn’t pay much attention to who was in the room instead tallying a quick headcount. An awful dread creeps into him for letting Marcus come along and gives one more look to his companion.

The amount of people in the waiting area of the clinic honestly surprised Elliot. Then again, he had only just woken up not ten minutes ago, and it was around 11am, so maybe it wasn't so strange. He hadn't been here in almost a decade, so maybe things were different now than they had been the last time he was here. The doctor running the clinic now was a different person than before he left, so it would make sense that things had changed. He didn't recognize nearly anyone from before he moved back to the city either, so his entire stay since his return so far had been an adjustment period. Some people had consistently come to visit Lumina while he was here, so some faces were starting to become somewhat familiar. Not that he really knew who many of them were. Hunter had popped by a few times, so he couldn't say he didn't know anybody that had visited. With everything that was going on, the artist secretly hoped Hunter would have visited more often, but understood that wasn't always possible.

The doctor seemed to be addressing some of the people in the waiting room when he had come out. There was Emily, the waitress who had stopped by every day. Then there was Sam, who he learned had been dancing with his sister when the attack happened, and stayed with her through that first night. Elliot made a mental note to thank him later for helping her out like he did. Then there was some blonde haired woman who looked to be around her own age, looking a bit irritated. He raised an eyebrow as she threw her coat and it landed on Sam instead of on the rack. And finally there was two taller gentlemen who looked like they had only just arrived. It was starting to get crowded in the waiting room, and Elliot turned and followed Rhys as he made his way back to Lumina's room.

a972cf7b536391ceec614faa574235e5.jpg

Amelia seemed to have made it in before the doctor, and Elliot was a little surprised to see her already waiting there as he and Rhys walked in. Lumina had been answering the few questions Amelia managed to ask her before Rhys brought a chair over and began to ask her his own questions. Lumina sat up a little to better be able to address him, though she still looked exhausted. "Doctor Rhys." Lumina gave a tired smile as he spoke to her, honestly not all that unhappy to see him. She really loved having him as her doctor, and trusted him completely with all of her medical issues. Her eyes widened a little before her expression softened into a more understanding one when he mentioned that she had been asleep for a couple days. Her gaze drifted down to her hands, falling on the iv that was hooked up to her forearm. No wonder Elliot had seemed extra relieved to see her awake. It's not exactly normal to fall unconscious and not wake up for three days. She could only imagine how worried she must have made people. Well, at least she was awake now, right?

"I'm feeling alright, just kind of tired." Lumina answered, looking back up at Rhys. "There's no pain, not that I can tell right now at least. Not really." There were a few residual bruises on her chest from where Rhys had done CPR a few days ago, but that wasn't really bothering her. Her chest didn't feel tight and she felt like she could breathe fine. "Maybe a little lightheaded?" Her body wasn't completely used to being awake yet, so she definitely did feel kind of out of it. She could comprehend Dr. Rhys saying it had been a couple days since she fell unconscious, but she couldn't for the life of her figure out what day that statement meant it was. It was like her thoughts were a little fuzzy, but not enough to not be functional. Hearing her statements of how she felt, Elliot frowned a little.

"Guess you'll be taking your birthday easy then, Lu." His voice was a bit strict, but he felt he needed to as her older brother. That was his job after all. Lumina looked over at him as he mentioned her birthday. It was her birthday? Well, the timeframe made sense considering her birthday was only a few days after the flower festival. If she was out during those days between then, it was definitely plausible that today would be the 9th.

"There's worse ways to spend your birthday." Lumina grinned tiredly at her brother, trying to keep the mood light. Lumina had an interesting relationship with her birthday. On one hand, she knew how fortunate she was to be able to celebrate a birthday each year so far. It was a luxury that she knew others in her position didn't always get to have. But on the other hand, she didn't want to always make a big deal out of it, because she didn't want to highlight her illness to other people if she didn't need to, so that translated into not bringing attention to her birthday at all. Plus, at the moment she should just be grateful to even be conscious at all. Elliot shrugged in agreement, unable to come up with a rebuttal to that statement.

Emilia went to school for the day, technically it was the first day of school so it was over real quick. All they did was talk a little about their classes and junk, and they gave out a parental signature for watching specific movies. At least this school isn't like the last one she went to. Welp, she finally has the day to herself. She did swipe those VIP passes from her bros desk when he passed out this morning... maybe she'll give them to the lady that passed out, Lumina. Would be a perfect prank for her Brother.

Emilia didn't even go home to put her school stuff away, she went immediately to the clinic. Upon arrival she found a lot of people crowding a bed. She looked at the girl in the entrance saying something about allergies, she was pretty. Most of the people she knew like Emily, Hunter, Doctor Rhys, there was a boy right besides Lumina she didn't know however. There was also two other guys she had never met before, one fancy looking with a cane and the other kinda normal.

Emilia looked and noticed Lumina was awake in which she popped to the other side of the bed and smiled.

"Yay! You're awake Lum Lum! I got you a card! There are VIP passes inside, 3 of them. They go to this cool place called club Paradise, you should go there with some girl friends! I heard there is this new band playing that's really good!"

Emilia presented a card with a Cat on it hanging ontp a tree branch with the caption hang in there. Emilia just smiled happily.

Meanwhile...

Ren woke up around 10 tired. This new job of his will require a lot of getting used to because of its night shifts. Still it pays well and it let's him do what he loves so it's a win win. Ren gets up and prepares himself for the rest of the day. He still remembers that flower festival and how he ditched that Evelyn girl... he still feels bad about that. You know what he's gonna go and apologise about that. She was what... the mayor's assistant right? She's gotta be working in the Town hall then.

So after getting dressed, Ren left his home and walked his way to the Town Hall. He's hoping she works cause it would be awkward trying to show up to her house when he doesn't know her or how she would react. Then again he is doing almost the same thing but at work. Maybe he's just overthinking this.

When he arrives he walks in and stands at where he assumes the receptionist desk is. Waiting for whoever and hoping it's Evelyn.

It looked like Sam and Emily weren't the only ones planning to stop in with Lumina today. It wasn't even the afternoon and the small Clinic was filling up fast. No doubt Amelia would be starting to get a little anxious with the the lack of space. In fact, just as this thought was fresh in his mind he had spotted her slip off into Lumina's room. Obviously to help Rhys but he was confident a percentage of that was to go into a room less full of residents too. He didnt mind the crowd so much.

His eyes drifted to Emily, spotting the her holding a package in her hands. A gift for Lumina maybe? Emily and he never really talked all that much apart from when he would stop by the cafe but with how often he seemed to be passing her when visiting Lumina he didnt feel right not greeting the girl at this point. Even if she was too timid to always respond. He was about to ask Emily how she was doing before the door to the Clinic flung open, cutting his thoughts as Vivi had stormed in shouting about allergies. He stared at her as she ranted. Rhys was with Lumina. Should he tell her that? He didn't normally intervene with things but this woman was clearly disgruntled and was pretty loud.

His mouth opened about to get her attention only hesitating for a brief moment as he was hoping he had remembered the woman's name right "Uh, Vivi? Rh-" he was cut off as the woman pulled of her coat and tossed it towards him, the coat smacking him right in the face. Nevermind that warning then. With a dumbfounded expression he pulled the coat from his face and with a raised brow, stared at the woman who seemed to finally be waking up to the situation. When she apologised he shook his head and offered a smile as he held the coat towards her again, he could only laugh at the situation at this point. He was sure he looked like an idiot being smacked in the face like that "Its fine. Allergies suck." he commented as he did so after letting an amused chuckle at the situation.

The door opened again after this, this time with a lot less force though. Kore's resident baker and his friend soon followed by Emilia, the young girl rushing past them all and straight into Lumina's room. No doubt they were checking on Lumina too. After all, the girl was popular with everyone in the village. Her cheerful demeanor always sticking with people. He shifted his gaze from Vivi to Max and his friend when he has heard the baker address the room."Afternoon Max!" he greeted back once he had spotted him.

Michael Whitton

Michael sighed as he stood in front of the Town Hall, having finished unpacking a couple of minutes before. He hadn't been in town since his mother's funeral, so he needed some directions. Plus, it was a good excuse to catch up with Evie. Even if he'd enjoyed his time away, he missed Kore. Especially his old group of friends. He wondered how Lumina was doing, seeing as he had a bad heart....no matter. She was probably fine. Mike stepped up to the door of the large building, nervously peeking his head inside as he said sheepishly, "Uhhhh....hello? Is this the Town Hall?"

He spotted someone standing in front of the desk. He looked familiar, but Mike couldn't really remember him. "Oh hey!....you.... it's been a while since we...met..." He shut up after that, standing a bit behind him as he said, "I uh...just moved back in. I need some uh... directions. Is Evelyn in? She's the receptionist, right? Been a while since I was in town..." He was obviously not very comfortable, and was completely silent after that. He paced back and forth nervously, just wanting some directions and a conversation so he could leave. He knew he should probably check in at the school, just to get a feel for the place, seeing as it was where he would be working from now on. Same for library, seeing as he has no idea what kind of books the school had, and he would probably take the kids there on short little reading trips to get them excited about learning. It was very obvious he was mulling all of this over in his head, almost muttering to himself like a crazy person. This place didn't feel like home anymore. He felt out of place, lost, needing to adapt to this new town. In a way...he wasn't in the same Kore he had known six years ago. It was different, yet the same. He missed it, but...he was also intimidated by it. And so he paced back and forth like a mental patient, hoping he could get some guidance in this strange place...

The relaxation time Evelyn normally would have the day after a good festival was not present this spring. With everything that had happened she felt she was distracted by wondering if Lumina was okay. Popping in once or twice to check up on her friend over the weekend. They had even agreed to give the price for best dancer to the girl once she would recover. Had she wrote that down? No. She didn't think so. She would do it once she got back to her desk...If she remembered to. Right now she was in the file room behind the reception desk. Humming quietly as she worked, she hadn't noticed the two men standing in reception. With most of her time preparing the Flower festival and before that sorting the new years festival she had been so busy, she finally had some time for some well needed spring cleaning of the files.

She grabbed a large unmarked box of files from the back corner of the room to carry out to her desk where the lighting was better to sort them. Her father never was good at keeping these things labelled. Her work was sure cut out for her when she had came back from the city last year even if she only had been gone a while. Blowing a puff of air from her cheeks she awkwardly backed through the doorway. With no free hands she had used her hip to push the door open, the box obstructing her view of the two still as she walked towards her desk the weighted door swinging closed behind her. She popped the box onto the desk with a relieved sigh before first spotting Ren causing her to step away from the boxes "Oh! Ren! Sorry. I was busy sorting things out back so I didn't notice anyone I hope you weren't waiting too long... Can I help you with anything?" She asked with a friendly smile. She honestly didnt have that many hard feelings about him leaving her at the dance so she wasnt waiting on an apology. He wanted to help Lumina so it was understandable really. If she didnt have ti help with moving the crowd that night she would have helped out too.

She paused as she saw someone pacing behind him. Peering behind him she blinked a few times as her mouth opened ever so slightly. A familiar face. A very familiar face. The girl was forgetful but not that forgetful for sure. She couldn't possibly forget her childhood friend even if it had been quite a while "Mike!" She cheered with an excited smile "I didn't know you were visiting!"

Although pleasant, Reins dance with Caleb was unfortunately cut short as the news spread throughout the crowd of dancers and onlookers. Being on the opposite end of the square, he noticed the growing commotion later than the others and approached the crowd only to see Lumina being swiftly escorted away by Kores medical team. Her still, lifeless body collapsed in Samuels arms shocked Rein into stillness. His mind blanked out as the image was etched firmly into his mind, even though they had long left his line of sight. He had been told of her mysterious illness, but watching its consequences happen so abruptly rung alarm bells in his head. Somewhere deep in his heart, he had assumed that the cheerful and peaceful nature of Kore would last forever. Sadly, such a fantastical dream could not hope to be.

Alessias authoritative announcement abruptly woke Rein up from his blank daze. Shoving his unease to the back of his mind, he helped escort and guide the rest of the guests to the town hall. Despite the festivities continuing on in the grand estate, with laughter and merriment resounding throughout the village, the adventurer couldn't help but plague himself with his own worries and unease.

Kores atmosphere seemed to have been affected negatively by the incident or perhaps, it was all in his head. Days passed by slowly, even moreso when he discovered that Lumina had yet to awaken after all this time. Every morning without fail, he would visit the clinic to check on her condition and pester Rhys for information. He had also vaguely met her older brother there, though it was unfortunate that it had to be under such circumstances. As the only adventurer in the village at the moment, he felt a sense of responsibility for the safety of everyone here. Guilt and self-blame ate away at his heart, despite the illness itself being something completely out of his control. He remembered apologizing profusely to Elliot on their first meeting, empathetic to his situation of returning to Kore only to find the comatose body of his sister.

Other than those fleeting visits at the clinic, Reins schedule was uncomfortably the same as usual. He would awaken early in the morning and visit Maxs Bakery as per usual for breakfast, then go on a patrol/survey around the perimeter of the village, head back to the adventurers guild to prepare for requests, practise his swordsmanship or sharpen his blade with a whetstone whilst not busy and then quest for the rest of the evening. Rein felt as if he should be doing something more to aid with Luminas condition, but innately knew that he would be more of a hindrance than help.

This morning was no different, although he felt a little more remorseful as he looked at his calendar. He was hopeful that perhaps the birthday girl would've awoken on her special day, but when he went to check as the clinic opened up, there was no such news. Although dissappointed, he tried not to let it show on his face as he thanked both Rhys and Amelia for their hard work, before heading off to his usual duties. Having returned from his patrol early, Rein found himself repairing one of his practice dummies whilst listening to a calm melodic tune playing from his phone. He was currently sitting on an old sturdy chair as he worked, with the dummy and various other materials placed on the elongated desk in front of him.

Contrastingly, amongst the crowd of tools near the top corner of the workstation, there lay a carefully wrapped peach coloured present that could fit in the palm of ones hand. The wrapping paper was a gradiated hue of light orange and pink, with thin white stripes in repeated patterns. A thick pink ribbon was spun delicately around the box, tying itself into a cute, but lopsided bow at the top. Underneath the thin layer of wrapping, was a small white box containing eye-catchingly blue-purple gems. These crystals were known as Iolite, or 'water sapphires' by some, and were known to have properties of healing and recovery. It was obvious what Rein was thinking when he decided on this birthday gift, although Lumina should hopefully have recovered when she receives it.

Putting his wandering thoughts away, Rein focused on the task at hand, aiming to finish repairing the dummy before opening the guild.

Vivi Darling

"Afternoon, Max!"

If Vivi could even breathe in the first place, she would have surely lost her breath more than she already had. Her face flushed, growing hot to the touch as her heart pattered against her chest like an antsy bird wanting to break free of its cage. It had been months since Vivi had returned to her hometown. This day was just getting worse and worse. Here she was, already making a fool of herself after receiving a flustering letter and now he was here. She felt the sheer panic rise in her throat, causing a lump that was hard to swallow.

Once upon a time, she decided to explore before her shop would finally have its grand opening. Finally, she had returned home to escape her life in the city and her days as an idol. She could write an entirely new story here. Even though it was not quite how she wanted her life to pan out, it still was better than the direction she was going. During her journey of delight, she discovered a charming bakery not too far from her little store. The smell of the bread filled the air and she dreamed about the crunchy crust of a baguette for dinner. However, just as her fingertips danced against the handle of the door, she froze. She stood as still as a statue while she stared in disbelief at what she had just witnessed inside: the man that ruined her career.

It was an innocent love at first. He was a crush that turned into a love letter affair from afar. But sadly her drive to become a singer came to a halt when she found her desire for this boy was stronger. Her mother always told her to stay away from things she couldn't have... but she just couldn't listen. He was so sweet and would bring her lemon flavored cupcakes after every performance, walk with her in the late night through the park as she talked about her dreams as an idol, and let her lay her head on his shoulder as she vented about her troubles. He was the first boy that actually saw past the idol on the stage and saw her as a person. For some reason, even though she worked so hard to develop such an image, it was nice to have someone to talk to outside of her persona. Something about him was just so inviting... Maybe he put something in those lemon cupcakes.

But then they were discovered. One morning when he was walking her home, she watched everything she ever worked for burn up into flames. What was once a perfect night at his home and in the privacy of his arms, suddenly became a nightmare. Her face was plastered all over every blog and her name tarnished across social media. An idol had a love affair... unbelievable. It wasn't like this didn't happen regularly, but she had just happened to get caught. Why did he insist on walking her home? Did he want them to get caught so he could parade around as the guy that bagged Vivi Darling? This had to have been planned from the beginning.

To this day, Vivi has trouble stomaching lemon cupcakes -- her absolute favorite sweet treat.

And to think: he even had the nerve to move to her home town. The absolute nerve! How did he even know she was moving home? How long had he been there? Was this some sort of sick joke?

Her chest burned with anger. The audacity.

Vivi snapped back to her reality before her after searching her head full of memories and thoughts. Her hand gripped at the letter she had received just that morning. Did he send it? Was this part of his never-ending torture for her? She had lost her career, her name, and her pride, but he just couldn't seem to stop, could he? Her blue eyes darted towards him, sending as many ice cold glares at they could.

She couldn't leave now. She had already embarrassed herself enough and she also had work to do, which she couldn't get done with the flood gates of snot being open. People would also be able to read the energy in the room if she stormed off... What was she to do? She had done so well at avoiding him as much as possible. This was the first time they had ever been in the same room together since she cut him off years ago. Vivi's grip tightened so much on the balled up piece of paper that her knuckles started to turn white.

"Doctor, when you have time...," she muttered before moving back to the waiting room and placing herself down in a seat. She crossed her legs aggressively, avoiding any and all eye contact that she could, but occasionally sneaking glares here and there.

What a day.

Doctor Rhys W. Wright
The siblings talked briefly while Rhys took brief notes about Lumina's status. Was it Lumina's birthday? He didn't know. At least she woke up in time for that. While Rhys didn't have any physical gifts to give, surely Lumina would appreciate the plentiful amount of people who came to visit her. Casting those thoughts aside, Rhys was about to speak when a woman burst in. Almost on instinct, Rhys gave an icy glare, but it melted away when she apologized. He gave a sigh and spoke. "Its... alright. I can get you something for those allergies. Just give me a moment. It won't take too long." This woman was Vivi, wasn't she? Rhys had heard the name but had never met her. Admittedly, this wasn't the greatest first impression, but he understood. Mistakes happen.

Rhys then noticed the second young lady walk into the room. Emilia presented tickets of some sort to Lumina. Under normal circumstances, he'd object to having visitors so soon, but from the way that the clinic seemed to be filled to the brim with people visiting Lumina, he supposed it'd be alright. "Lumina, I am afraid that I'll need you to stay for a few extra days. Just to make sure that you are one hundred percent ready to head back to work. I've already done most of the tests needed, most came back positive, but I need time to determine some other factors, such as if you need to take any medicines or if you need to cut certain behaviors. Until then, would you like me to tell your other visitors that you're awake?"

The Errand Boy

("Bad rushed art is bad, don't ever do it." -Vagabond Spectre)

At the day of the festival. Oliver was having quite a bright morning. He received so much gifts during his time at the festival. He was thankful of the blessings he received such as being given free eggs from the "Duck lady", being rewarded with money from other folks, got another piece of pastry from a generous woman he cannot recall the name and most importantly. He has been given the opportunity to be tutored in baking under Max's wing. These gifts were enough to drive the boy happy throughout the whole festival. The boy's undying joy was unmatched. Although, one may notice he was actually nowhere to be found at the moment of the flower festival dance! Even after promoting it as it main feature. Where could this boy have been gone into? Normally, those who know Oliver well can rest assure that he would be somewhere into the event or so. He wouldn't just go anywhere. Unless it was deadly important. If one were to look for the child. Locals will say the same thing. "Oh, he just help me here earlier!" or "I saw him dashing back to his home by the woods." As it turns out he actually sacrificed his time at the festival to run errands from others and head home. Why? Who knows. Only he could answer that. The boy was not seen again till days later.

Monday
Sunny with occasional rains

It was early out in the morning the boy was already outside dressed differently from his usual chef's attire. The way he's dressed and the fact that he is walking in a specific path to the educational institute of learning. It was obvious that it was school time for the boy. His torn uniform and damaged backpack gave it away. Same old Oliver minus the chef's hat and clothes. He was dressed in a old and (Probably recycled) damaged collar shirt with a slit end neck tie that is in the same color of his red scarf from the festival. It had a few obvious stitches and stains to it, indicating that it has withstood the tests if time and many trials of his life. It's once cotton white cloth turned into a dirty brown rag of color. His brown slacks were degraded into shorts as the lower part to where the kness and panst meet had been cut off evidence being that there are threads dangling free. His brown leather bag had been through some adventures to. Only the left backpack strand is the only one left functional and the bag smells like old wet furniture made of wood, his bag may reek but the boy surprisingly odorless. The boy was on his way to school his eyes were focused straight in to the road. The boy kept walking on but sadly he cannot stop for a chat right now. Though he may answer back to greetings but he won't entertain a small chat unless needed. Nothing stops the a boy from achieving to complete his basic education.

Location: Outside the inn going to the lake.

Valente had been settling in. He kept himself busy with the bar when it was open and often wondered what to do when it was closed. He couldn't help but worry about the girl who fainted at the flower festival. He didn't know much about them, but seeing them on the floor. At the time he couldn't move and soon after he rushed back to his inn room. He just needed to calm down, and the night that followed proved to be a restless sleep. Still, he had a job to do. He's been doing it for a few days, and slowly he started to venture out from the bar and inn. It's not that he didn't like people, he did. He simply didn't want to bother anyone. It was also this fact that made him not visit the doctor yet. After all, they had others to worry about. He did feel bad since the doctor was nothing but nice to him at the festival. He hoped they didn't think that he thought badly of them.

Today he was trying to get himself to go out. Most of his time before today was spent working on a letter to his parents. It wasn't done, trying to find the right words to write to hopefully make them not worry about him was hard to find. It was as if once a word came it left or felt wrong. It was as if his mind wasn't cooperating with him. He sighed as he looked at the door that lead out of his inn room. His parents kept telling him to get out when, well there wasn't a reason to think about this. He'd go out, maybe take a walk around the town then come back. No, no... He's supposed to stay out. While he did get to know some places in town, he hadn't explored outside of it. He did see that lake before. Maybe it would do him good to walk around there to clear his mind.

With his mind somewhat set he finally went to the door and stepped out. Shutting the door behind him as if to stall the time. Heading out and making sure to keep track of the time so he'd be back before the bar opened, he shielded his eyes from the morning light. He had the habit of shutting the curtains on windows. Something he should stop doing. His destination in mind he slowly started to walk towards the path that would lead out of town. He needed to make days where he went and talked to people. Another of his parents worries that he'd need to work on. For now, he was going to enjoy the walk.

Darius smirked before he looked through the basket with exaggerated care and a critical eye. "I'm sure I'll get good use out of them," he hummed. "Help me arrange them in the back?" he offered, gesturing to the backroom of the floral shop.

Misty Stamp.png
Misty gave him a smile and a soft nod. Why, certainly... She murmured before heading into the back, taking the basket with her and practically beaming. Once at her destination, she set the goods down and began to arrange the delicate flowers out on display so that Darius could get a better view. I am fairly certain she will like these colors...At least, I hope so.

”holy shit its happing” Aaron thought to himself, he couldn’t believe he was back. It had been years since he had last been in kore so it was refreshing, he stepped of the bus with his luggage in hand and immediately all the memories flooded back to him. His eyes began to tear up, it felt like home, something he hadn’t felt in years. He began to make his way to the house when he remembered, he had forgotten the most important thing, you see his grandfather when he was younger would always say “the best way to come home is with a cookie in hand!” maybe that’s why he was such a sweet tooth.

Nevertheless he had to go buy some pastries, so he immediately began to make his way to the bakery, he was a little worried, for one it had been year since he was last in town and secondly it was midday maybe it was completely full, walking though the cobblestone roads it made him remember walking the same roads with his grandfather so many years ago. It made him remember them going into the bakery to get some bread for mother, then grandpa would always buy a cinnamon bun for Aaron.

Finally he was there, it looked just like the old shop, a bit more grey but hey, he took a deep breath and entered the bakery
interaction: screaming armadillo screaming armadillo

It was empty. The bakery was completely empty, Aaron was dishearten by this, he had just made himself ready to get some sweet, mouthwatering pastries. Then he got an idea, taking a small napkin form the counter he wrote his phone number down in black ink, he then went behind the counter and grabbed two chocolate cookies, some White bread, a Danish and finally a cupcake. He then wrote on the napkin what he had taken and where he lived. Aaron went out of the shop and begun to head home to his grandfather’s house. It was a beautiful location.

He stood in front of it, his grandfather’s house, it was really nothing special, it was a two storey house made out of brick, it had a big window in the front of the house from where you could see into the living room, it also had a lovely small garden in the back with a tiny deck that had just enough space for a table and two chairs. It was a good house, but not very special for most people, for Aaron this was like seeing a castle up close. He walked up to the door, it was a dark oak door with stained glass in the top, the stained glass was of a great tree with a door, it was the emblem of the hollow family, grandpa was always so very proud of it, Aaron never understood it though, what was so great about the hollow family, to his knowledge were they just normal people. He looked at the keyhole, it was newer then last time he came by, grandpa must have gotten it changed before he died, he took the key and unlocked the door.

It was just as all those years ago, Aaron couldn’t help but smile, he walked in and immediately threw his luggage too the side, there was something so very more important, he walked into the kitchen and grabbed a plate washed it and sat down at the table, he took the paper bag with the pastries and opened it, first the Danish, he bit down, it took him little time to eat all of it, it tasted just like it did all those years ago, maybe it was because he was here, it didn’t matter too him, because he couldn’t help but cry, he finally felt alone maybe he was crying because he was sitting alone in the place that felt like home, maybe it was because he was happy. he took the bag and placed it into the fridge, then he opened the door to the basement, his grandfather never wanted him to go down there, but this time he had to do it, he had to turn on power. He walked down the stairs it was pitch dark, so he took out his phone and turned on the flashlight, after a good half hour he found the electronics box, with a flick of a switch the basement lit op. it looked like he would have imagined it empty. Except for a box in the corner, oh well he need to go out and see the town right, and the first stop would be the town hall

========= MADELINE SCOTT =========

It has been 2 years since Madeline stayed in Violet Meadows and it has been a full week since she recently recovered from the flu. It was due to such circumstances that she wasn't able to visit the Flower Festival and watch this year's Flower dance. It was almost a blessing that another chef took the station during the festival, however, she never heard of the other chef again sometime later. Madeline sighed in deep thought, planning how she would go about her day during work. As depressing as it is, staying at home and recovering would be much better than infecting others with her flu. Besides, Madeline didn't want to trouble the doctor too much when such flu could be treated with a hearty meal full of nutrition. With a big stretch of her arms and legs, the mother stood up from her mahogany bed and went to the en suite bathroom to start off her day.

After lathering herself up, showering, shyly admiring herself in the mirror despite being past her prime, and rinsing, Madeline left the bathroom and wore a light flowery blouse with laced sleeves paired with a dark olive long skirt to complete the look. She then heads down the stairs leading towards the familiar sight of the stainless steel kitchen where she would be working for the rest of her day. The white plastic clock hanging above the double fridge indicated that it was well past afternoon, meaning that Madeline should be eating brunch by now. The cafe would have to open half an hour later after noticing that her waitress wasn't in the cafe today, she wondered where that little lady went off today. She would have to ask her neighbors for the details then if she wasn't arriving this early.

When the time is this late, Madeline decided a light meal that would fill her stomach for the rest of the day while multitasking on other confectioneries not often seen in bakeries. With her plans laid out neatly inside her mind, she ties up her hair and turns the stove up to heat up the pan before grabbing some eggs and a pack of sealed ham. Madeline would then wear a chef's coat and apron to start working by applying a thin layer of oil on the pan. The ham was first to be placed on the heated surface as it starts to crackle loudly then simmer down in a soft tone. She then cracks eggs with one hand directly to the pan, letting the yolk mingle with the smoky flavor of the ham as it cooks. She then sprinkles a pinch of salt and pepper for flavor before setting up another pan to toast some buttered bread.

ba8c228de51e908c04afcf965ffe311a.gif

After minutes of cooking, she sets up a table in the cafe and places the meal paired with some honey and tea that she loved to drink so much. And with that, her brunch is finished as Madeline takes a seat and enjoys her meal in peace.

Moments after the two men's arrival another entered the clinic, distracting Max from asking about Lumina and why Sam was holding a jacket out. A young girl who Max knew moved to town recently with her sibling that wordlessly passed through the room and into the one Lumina stayed. But it was not because of the girl that Max was suddenly dumbstruck. It was the woman leaving the same room who made his breath stop in his throat. Something had luckily clicked in his mind and he flicked his head away hoping not to be caught staring. Too quickly for somebody trying to be subtle however. His downcast eyes focused on nothing as he struggled to rein in conflicting emotions. The room suddenly felt incredibly quiet. He couldn't stop himself from going back down that road.

It wasn’t quite love at first sight for Max but he was certainly intrigued by the woman who visited his work that day years ago. She lived in a world with rules and quirks he was ignorant of but had already become too interested to reconsider. Maybe it was the way she charmed him with her honest determination and passion. Before long he had already found himself anxious for the next time they could meet and he knew he was sunk. Whenever they could sneak away from the lights and cameras he found it so easy to lose himself in the moment. He was always left on his toes by her calculated teasing. Even his reticent nature was easy to part with whenever they opened up to one another. Then he made the mistake that ruined everything. By the time Max found out about his slipup they had already run out of time. One night they were together and the next they had no chance.

There was no hard feelings against Vivian. He was just a man that stuck his hand by a flame. When he got burned he couldn’t complain, especially since he had the option to pull his hand away. She was the one that had her life destroyed. Forced to watch her dream slowly crumble away because he let a decision be influenced by his young naivety. So Max couldn’t rightly blame her for the way things ended. She was only doing what was best for herself. What left him bitter was how their innocent romance became the transgression that inevitably ended her career. His sincere interest in her welfare exposed him to her futile struggle for redemption that only soured him further. For his own good Max had to get away.

In Kore he found a small measure of peace and more importantly the gleamingly pure human spirit that he lost sight of. He was living a perfectly normal life and finally began to move on. Then one day he looked across the town square and experienced just what he was feeling now when he saw her. Now Kore had become a village made of eggshells he was trapped in, desperately trying to avoid this very situation. He wanted to set aside whatever was holding him back from speaking to her. But even then what could he say? He didn’t have the words then and he doubted he could find them now. Just the thought made his heart rate rise.

D454FrMVUAEqLGv.jpeg

A solid jab in his ribs stirred Max from his thoughts and the regret threatening to bloom inside. He glanced over to an equally concerned and curious Marcus whose brow was raised in question. Max could only offer a fractional shrug in reply. After a moments pause another nudge, this one softer. Marcus once again. This time he nodded toward to the room. A gesture that with his sly smirk seemed to mean ‘Aren’t you forgetting something Maxi?’. Maxi did, and the realization flustered him enough to visibly show on his guileless face. The next second it was dashed away and Max found enough of his self command. As for Marcus, he just managed to catch the frigid glare being sent to the unsuspecting baker. In a better setting he would have smiled, but he certainly had some questions.

Having collected himself Max inquired with genuine concern, “Any update on Lumina?” Predominantly the question was asked to Sam but he did look to Emily as well. He meant no disrespect to the young girl, who he presumed carried her own genuine feelings to Lumina's plight. The simple reason for this was Sam being a friend while Emily was too skittish for the baker to gauge how close their association was. The rancher was also the one who unfortunately, fortunately for Lumina’s life perhaps, was thrown into the center of the situation. Because of this Max observed Sam with hidden intent. He wasn’t certain how the circumstances would affect a man of sincere kindness and sympathy like Sam. Maybe unneeded but Max wanted to make sure he was alright.

After a considerable pause for reply Max inquired to the room in a low neutral tone, even to Vivian however he could only will a short glance her way, “This is Marcus, an old friend of mine that’s visiting for a bit.” A flick of the thumb to the man who greeted with a nod and a pleasant smile before adding, “Please ignore him and maybe he will go away soon. You’ll be doing me a favor.”

“Oh Maxine,”
Immediately cooed the unperturbed companion. He made sure to keep his tone and manners proper for a clinic before continuing, “Stop being so worried. I am not here to tell all your embarrassing stories.” Marcus winked, as if the mischievous countenance he was unable to hide wasn’t enough of an indication.

Doing the shopping for the inn when it was very clearly going to rain may have been poor decision making on Alex's end but walking in the rain never bothered her much to begin with. Thankfully it hadn't started until right before she'd walked in so her clothes weren't too bad off, but the trip back would certainly be another story. Walking into Bon Marche Alexis was immediately hit with cold air. Was there some kind of unspoken rule that all stores must be cold? Oh well, it's relieving on warmer days. Quickly adjusting to the chill she paid it no mind and looked down at the somewhat crumpled and wet in some places piece of paper in her hand, all that mattered was that the writing was still readable. The items listed were simple enough that she could get it all in one trip if she was smart about it. Already, there was a small problem. Earlier trips she'd relied on Hunter to find everything while she kept track of the list and helped carry it all back. This time Alexis was on her own, but hey, this was a chance to test and challenge her memory on the layout of the store. With that in mind, she slowly made her way through the store as she went down the list starting with the ones she knew where to find.

Her memory was much better than she thought, having managed to get about 90% of the items listed. Pushing the cart down the aisle where she thought the cleaning was located, Alexis was quick to realize that this was the wrong aisle and moved onto the next. Was this it? Nope. What about the one after? No, she'd already been there earlier. Pausing, she stopped and looked around for any kind of sign that would signal the correct aisle. Maybe wearing her glasses would've helped aid her in the process, but they always slipped down the bridge of her nose and tended to get in the way more often than not. She really needed to invest in a new pair of contacts to replace the ones she lost during the move to Kore, while Alexis could function fine, for the most part, without the help it seemed she was going to need them more now. Alright, if she couldn't rely on her own eyes and memory she'd just have to find someone she could rely on, she was still working after all so she should really speed this up. Moving out of the aisle, Alexis paused and looked around for an employee she could harass, not doing much to conceal her confusion.

Come As You Are || Hunter’s CS File || Alessia’s CS File

The days felt like just one long evening after the flower festival for Hunter. He got up, ate, worked, slept, functioned. He did all the things he was suppose to do, after all he couldn’t have anyone noticing that he wasn’t doing well. That night was the hardest. He was down a dance partner, his friend was unconcious with a condition that should have been long gone, and he wasn’t even being allowed to go with. He certainly couldn’t blame Rhys for not knowing but he was basically family to Lumina, the closest avaliable one she had. Though he wasn’t in any shape to argue for being let in to a place he rarely wished to go to in the first place. Just the thought of it closed up his throat and froze him to the spot. Emily was a huge help, if she hadn’t dragged him back to the inn he may have just stood outside the clinic until Rhys let him in.

The flower festival was its own beast, the day which she couldn’t even stand normally was made even worse by Lumina falling ill. She was sure the girl would be fine if everyone would just stop distracting her doctor. She felt somewhat bad that she’d spent more of the evening trying to calm people down and herd people out than actually dancing with Max but that just meant that she’d need to drag him out dancing again. As the night came to a close she stood back making sure everyone left safely. It seemed like overall the spirit had dropped from the locals early on though. Luckily the tourists would always march on. She bid adew to her little group for the night heading back to Bon Marche.
    ----
While facing Elliot was painful, it was easier to stand in the clinic when he knew another person who understood was here. Their next meeting shouldn’t have been because Mina couldn’t even wake up. Part of him rejected the idea that this was going to be a continuous problem, and that part ran him off every time he thought too much. After all he had a business to run? Okay that was a bold faced lie any one of his employees he would easily trust with Vitral for any period of time. Even when he wasn’t going through the motions he had plenty of leftover time to be at Lumina’s side more often but he just couldn’t. He spent more time hiding in the boarded up plot of land than either with Lumina or at the Inn over the last few days.
    ---
Her count would wait, it was Lumina’s birthday today. It didn’t matter that the woman was asleep still it wouldn’t do for her cousin to keep running away like a child. Besides he would feel better celebrating her birthday even if he wouldn’t admit that he was scared for her. It was silly how fast reason would go out the window when you were too close to someone, then again she supposed she was no better for wanting to be there when it wouldn’t matter a bit considering the woman wasn’t even awake. She had gotten Lumina a gift, nothing extravegant just a few materials that tended to be scarcely found in Kore. The delivery was already prepakaged with the wrap she’d sent her sister. Luckily it was in good shape otherwise her movers would hear it. She may have done things last minute but she knew that Hunter had been planning Lumina’s gift for months. She got ready and headed off to the Inn.

“Al, I’ma be gone most of today I guess. If you need anything force Mirko to do it. One of you do my count! If it’s off or damaged be sure to send the bill to the company.”

She heard a quick whine of indigation from her brother. Ah good he was here already. She didn’t even wait to hear a response before bolting out the doors with the gift held right at her side.

    ---

Hunter glared at the box as it sat upon his kitchen table. Today was Lumina’s birthday and she’d yet to awaken. He’d wanted to give it her at her party, which well wouldn’t be happening now. He felt like knocking it off onto the floor but it would shatter it and then he’d be upset and stupid for breaking something he paid for. Granted maybe he should have tested it durability considering Mina was always traveling down to the mines. The necklace was made of her favorite gem, Rainbow quartz. The design was almost a joke now, a crystal held in place by the tree of life. He should change it…
    THUMP.
Huh who the heck was lowering his stairs. Before he could even complain about being left alone he found Alessia stomping up, dressed to the nines compaired to her usual business wear, in a sun dress and her long hair let loose in waves.

“No go away Al, I’m going down soon I promise”
“You think I’d believe that when you look like someone burned your life savings.”
    “I don’t have any lif-”
“Exactly. So grab your little necklace and lets get going”
“That doesn’t even make any sense!”
“Neither does moping around all day. Now lets go see your friend your sweet on.”
“Yo-your so off mark. I’m allowed to have friends without-”
    “Oh so her brother then?”
    “ALESSIA!”
He banged down on the table before he even realized what he was doing. The small box went right off the side only just barely being caught by his cousin. Oh shit he nearly broke it after all, not to mention the explination he’d have to give the people under him.
“You’re high strung, you usually can take much more. Not to mention you’re hardly taking care of yourself. Others may not see it but you’re terrified, I know you and you hate being alone up here you’d be the first to be down at the counter greeting people and you’ve been scarely seen for the last couple of days.”
He turned away hoping that if he stayed quiet she’d just give up and leave but he’d forgotten how stubborn Alessia could be. He soon found himself being picked up and thrown over her sholder like a bag of rice.
“Yup no more of this get ready.”
He was tossed into his bathroom and from there he realized he really had no choice here. While he wanted to do nothing more than ignore today entirely and try again tomorrow he wasn’t being given that oppertunity. He washed up with as little effort as he could grumbling the entire time. He walked out wrapped in a towel considering that’s all that was in the bathroom. He didn’t even bother to dry his hair.
“Geez you really feel like fighting back today. Come here.”
Alessia had patted the bed next to her. It seemed she’d expected it all and had already laid out clothing and grabbed one of his brushes. Alessia had begun humming a tune that their mother had sung to them whenever she came to visit Hunter as she brushed out some of the knots that had formed in his wavy hair. It relaxed him just as he supposed she intended to.
“There all better, now get dressed!”
    “Are you gonna leave then?”
“You’ll just lock me out so nope, stop acting shy and get ready.”
He let out a huff as he began to put himself together, as usual she was right. Getting ready had made him feel moderately better he supposed.
“Okay, but we just have to drop off the gifts and go right? I don’t wanna just watch over Mina again.”
“Stop whining it has to be just as bad for Elliot. You two should be comforting each other but you’re playing at being okay doesn’t help anything.”
He flinched at the mention of Elliot. He was being a bad friend on every front recently. He was being dramatic, he needed to actually get over himself right now.
“Hey, No stop that I didn’t tell you for you to feel like shit or be guilty. I’m being serious. I need you to realize that. I’m not telling you off for being worried, I’m telling you there are better ways to manage it.”
    “Okay”
He couldn’t handle being coddled anymore than he’d already had. He rushed down the stairs only mildly aware of Alessia behind him. Before long she was at his side again, curse her for being taller. She was now holding both her gift and his as she shoved his into his chest.
“You are gonna pull yourself together but for now stop trying to be okay. Now we’re gonna go to the clinic we’re gonna drop off the presents and celebrate even if she’s not up yet because she’s lived another year and will continue to be okay. Got it, she’s fine. She’s a healthy kid okay, she’ll pull through.”
They crossed through the clinic doors only to find the plenty of people in.
“Oh Hi Max, Hey Em. You guys checking on Mina too?”
He greeted them as the pair walked in. He didn’t know the others very well. Alessia had aparently not expected it either from the little ‘huh’ that had slipped out from under her breath.
“Well Rhys and Amelia aren’t here to check in with so you might as well go in Hunter.”
Great Aless now that’s really helpful. He knew she was systematically taking away outs and she was great at it.
“Right. Uh Em? You coming too?”
“Oh. Hi Emily, Thanks again for taking care of this one while he was-”
“I’m gonna go see Mina bye”
In an instant he rushed into the room clutching the gift with him.
    ----
“Well there we go mission sucess. Hello again Max, sorry that our dance was cut short I got a bit preoccupied when we changed venues.”
She turned back to find that she had never met the man beside him and could only guess at the woman’s name. Well she better introduce herself then.
“Oh I don’t believe we’ve met before. I’m Alessia I work down at Bon Marche and you are?.”

Alejandro sighed as his phone's alarm clock began to sound. Sighing quietly as he stirred around in bed for a couple of extra minutes, he eventually would reach out to grab it and dismiss the alarm. At least to save his sanity for his day. Things had been going well until that little incident on the day of the festival. He didn't know the girl, but everyone else. Alessia knew her though and as much as he wanted to ask what all the commotion was about that day. he wouldn't have felt right bringing it up and as a result, he didn't. Getting up, Alejandro grabbed some fresh clothes and sat them out on his bed before going for a quick shower. He had a couple of hours upon waking up before he needed to go up to the store.

Finishing his shower, Alejandro continued on with his morning routine, combing and brushing his hair before putting it back into a ponytail, brushing his teeth and more. Once all of that was finished, he got dressed. Grabbing his shoes as he walked out of his room. Yawning, he made his way into the kitchen and had a small breakfast. He was never into making large ones on workdays. Things like a bowl of cereal would suffice for the time being. Despite not living in the city anymore, he still found himself checking on the news happening around there. Just to make sure nothing that would require him to pack up and go and check on his parents has happened. Once he finished checking the news and eating, he checked the time. "Time to get to it..."

Making his way upstairs to Bon Marche, Alejandro was greeted by his fellow employees, whom he returned the greeting to. As he made his way to the doors, he noticed Alessia. She seemed to be in a be cheerful... At least it looked like it to him. When she said his name he raised a brow and nodded, acknowledging her orders. "Sure thing. Take care." He said as she left the store, waving to her as she did. Alejandro looked at Mirko and laughed a bit, rubbing the back of his head. Before he could get back to what he planned to, he caught a glimpse of a familiar face. "Seems like I'm gonna need you to take care of something for me already, Mirko. Can you take care of the register for me? I'll be on the floor assisting customers. We'll take care of the count together or if need be, we'll have someone else do it." Alejandro then made his way over to Alexis. The girl from the inn and giver of free ice cream. She looked lost, so he went to give her a hand, calling out to her as he made his way over "Hey Inn Girl. Looking for something?"

In his opinion, his day got a bit better. Standing in front of that cash register all day could be a bit boring, but it was always interesting to help your friends. She did help him a lot back in the inn when he stayed there, so he figured why not repay the favor by helping her in his field of work.
