Um, I'm not entirely sure who Robert Killfire is, but I can accommodate the request.

Psychie Psychie
Robert Killfire was played by Killfire who joined us for a time in Sharseya. The man who played Killfire passed away last year not far where Kaerri and I live. I miss him so much I've kind of made a little monument to him in our home.

Killfire (or rather his player) is directly responsible for Kaerri and I being here in RP Nation today. Killfire is the reason Sherwood and I came into contact again; Killfire made that happen. It was through Sherwood's recommendation that we joined RP Nation back when it was RPdom. And now we're here and you probably know the rest.

But nothing I have made here would have taken place without Killfire bringing us back together. For me, that means no Sharseya Online, no Robotech: Broadsword. No Carlton Ridge, Gabriela De La Rosa, Gradicus the True Atlantean, Cody "Wild Wolf" Loper, T'kar the Karbarran, Snowfall the Kitsune, Dreamy the Starborn... I'm sure I'm missing other characters I have been happy to create and roleplay here.

Dear Pyschster, Killfire was a lovable goof - a misfit and outcast much like me but for different reasons. He was a creative individual, a proud American guy who loved freedom and firearms, bunnies and fluffy pillows, and of all the friends I've ever had, he is the most loyal.

Mind you, I have been blessed to have many loyal friends in my lifetime, but it is Killfire that stands at the top of that mountain. My other friends have their own accolades. =)

So, yeah. That was Killfire. I didn't mean to gush here, but if you get me talking about someone I love that much, I guess that's what happens. =)

Talking about this proves something to me though - I still fucking miss Kilfire, and as God is my witness, I always will. =)

Honor and fun,
Dann =)

Edit:
16 Cpl Robert Killfire - CS EOD Specialist

EOD Specialist! Killfire would have heartily approved! He loved big explosions! I love it, Psychie! Well done! =)

I had no idea that I was opening up a possible painful subject when I used Matthew Sherwood as a member of the platoon. I was more doing it as a friendly nod to our mutual friend Sherwood here, and never knew the story behind Robert Killfire until you and Sherwood enlightened me about him. Having a friend that has such an impact on your life is a blessing, and I hope that you can remember the good times and not dwell on the sadness.

Psychie Psychie Yes, there is some pain - the pain of loving someone and having lost them - but that feeling in me is tremendously outweighed by the decades of good times, laughs shared, wisdoms learned, and countless hours of being in the golden realm of true friendship. Killfire was one of the biggest and most-enduring blessings of my life. I could talk about him for hours (but you've probably guessed that already, haven't you?). Heh! It reminds me of an old saying by a fellow I think knew the value of his words.

"'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." - Lord Alfred Tennyson

For people like me, these words have very special meaning. Whether you lose them or not, I hope all of you know that kind of bond, that love that stays with you, strengthens you, makes you smile, and makes you feel oh so very lucky to have experienced it!

And I keep meaning to ask - which of the two bars on FOB Rico is the better place for gathering news and rumors, preferably from those who have recently returned from the field? I would feel derpy (for lack of better word) for having avoided a rowdy place only to learn later that it contained twice the lessons learned of the safer establishment. Know what I mean?

You can get info from both bars. It will be a somewhat vibe to the stories you get at Ruby's compared to Smiling Jack's, but both will be a source of rumors for you to look into. Given that you are a full Borg, you will have less of a problem at Ruby's than some others may, since it does cater to a rougher crowd.

I'm kind of torn on what Josh would be doing with his 6 hour break. I guess I got lost between scene transitions as to when we're next expected to be on duty or if we know when our next mission is.

You know that most of the company has been out in the field for a while, but the 4th platoon had to return to FOB Rico to repair and replace lost members. Now you are going to be driving out to meet up with them as they perform their various maneuvers around the Magic Zone looking for hostiles.

Rico is more than just a hastily thrown up temporary base. It has been here long enough to build up a small town feel to it, wit thousands of troops here. Anything you wish to do for some time off can probably be found/arranged here.

Sounds to me like Josh will likely be using this time to have peace and quiet and probably extra sleep before the deployment.

Sounds like a true trooper; you sleep when you can because you never get enough.

Sounds good to me. Just post in the IC that you are sticking around the barracks and getting some shut eye so we can make it official.

For those interested in Characters and inspiration, I decided to redo Ridge's Character sheet (Inspiration tab, music section) and the kickin' songs and lyrics that provide me what it takes to get into his head. I think I'm in that stage where I really know who he is and where he's coming from and I like that. Hope you're having as much fun with your Characters! =)

Seems like my alerts died on me, here, I'll try to get a post up later today.

Heya Sil! I try not to rely on Alerts on RP Nation, but check my games via Bookmarks. That's often saved me some headaches. =)

Usually, the alert system has worked quite well for me - I'm mostly using bookmarks to recheck on old stuff or rps I haven't heard anything from in a while. Like this one today, for example. Might be worthwhile to begin to check the rps manually if the system fails me more often, though, thanks for the hint!

Years ago, I think I recall typing something similar, good Sil. The Alert system, like life, has its ups and downs. This is why I've gotten into the habit of "pinging" my Players (I can't think of the term RP Nation uses for it right now. @ + name = the answer). =)

While at Ruby's, is there anything in particular that Ridge is looking for? You have heard plenty of talk about the happenings of the base, and things sound that the next big target that the soldiers here at Fort Rico will be dealing with is the bug infestation to the north. Either that, or trying to drive the knife home even deeper into the Federation of Magic, both of which means plenty of fighting in your future.

I'll try to answer this tonight. The writing is here but it's coming slowly. =)

That is a real struggle with my Storyteller posts sometimes. I just get so excited for a scene that is playing in my head, I just want to get to it.

Sounds good. I didn't want to rush forward and not give you the chance to post for his scene.

Appreciated. Especially when I'm feeling like this. Posting for Ridge now. =)

Ridge is looking for any kind of news that might aid Gloria and Steel Rain in the field. If a CS team was recently hit by the Xiticix, Ridge wants details if he can get them. Their numbers, tactics, weapons used, etc.. If a CS team had a weapon (like, say, a gas) that worked well against the Xiticix, he wants details. What worked; what didn't. Did the Xiticix have any allies? Where are the bugs now? What new things have the CS learned about them? Better to learn here than suffer in the field. Plus, like now, Ridge is happy (yes, he does have a happy side!) to meet with his war familiy - Special Forces, and anyone who has given good here at FOB Rico in the fight for humanity.

Ridge intends to go to Smilin' Jacks after he has done his rounds here.

Completely off-topic. Just saw this, a short video with SEAL and Internet celebrity Jocko Willink (or as he refers to himself, "some retired Navy guy,"), and wanted to share. In my non-military-trained civilian mind, he hits this particular topic right out of the park. Not trying to convert anybody. Just want to share something I can relate to (especially right now). =)

"WHAT IF IT SUCKS? - Jocko Willink"

Right now, I don't have anything that I'd want to get done other than returning, and taking care of any needed preparations.
