Fantasy uncharted land

"It's getting late and you have work to do tomorrow; you'd better have your sleep. I'll stay on guard till morning. I can't help you with this job so this is the least I can do." Running River suggested while observing the book.

 

[Tonstad39]

"Right" said Great Owl going to sleep on the ground "goodnight"

 

[MJ ._.]

"Goodnight..." Running River replied and kept analyzing relationship between form f words and objects they were referring to. He practiced more important words by writing them on papers Great Owl had used to teach him his set of words. After a while, he suddenly noticed that he was seeing his hand. Springing to his feet, he looked down at his body that slowly appeared and then his clothes appeared to. They were gashed in several places but still could cover enough. He ran to his partner to warn him but saw him turning back to human form. "Great Owl... wake up... your body is back again, we have to run before they find us..." He said in a hushed but anxious voice.

 

[Tonstad39]

"Shut up, I'm trying to sleep" said Great Owl his muzzle flattening and fur receding in many places.

 

[MJ ._.]

Running River shook Great Owl by shoulder. "Wake up or you'll be sleeping forever! How can a warrior sleep like a bear in winter?" He groaned and shook him harder.

 

[Tonstad39]

"What the hell is it?!" Boomed great owl beginning to shrink and his hooves gradually becoming toes again.

 

[MJ ._.]

"Just see for yourself... you're you again... no more yansi. Hurry up, we should use the darkness and get out of this city as soon as possible." Running River explained impatiently as pulled Great Owl by arm, trying to have him sit up.

 

[Tonstad39]

"Woah!" Exclaimed great owl looking at Running River "I CAN SEE YOU!" He also got up and noticed that he was much shorter and with a wide-eyed gaze felt short straight hair on the top of his head with no horns.

 

[MJ ._.]

Running River sighed tiredly. "You didn't expect to remain a beast forever, did you?"

 

[Tonstad39]

"Or at least however long it took to do the mission!" Exclaimed Great Owl.

 

[MJ ._.]

"It's late to be thinking of that. You saw how that pale man passed out, didn't you? It's probably his power's limitation. Warrior can't count on magic so much... let's save our necks and the information we've gained with our own hands." he said then picked papers on the table and put them in his shirt. "Luckily, we are not far away from he gate but passing the gate is the main problem; those guards will be there with peeled eyes... what if we climb the wall instead?"

 

[Tonstad39]

With that Great Owl claimed through the window now fully human as town guards patrolled every other city street. Fortunately, there was no guards on the street of the smith's shop, but there were guards in front of the gate.

 

[MJ ._.]

"I say... let's try the wall. There is no way we can fool a pair of them." Said Running River and pulled great Owl away from sight. He went toward the wall away from the gate till noticed something moving in a bush sticking to the wall. He approached and check it out. "An animal's hole... the soil must be soft here and probably the wall doesn't go deep in the earth in this part... let's dig our way out!"

 

[Tonstad39]

"Right" said Great Owl beginning to dig beneath the wall, the dirt piled high on the bush that hid the Burrow and five minutes later, the hole was large enough for one human to go at a time.

 

[MJ ._.]

"Fine... let's try it..." Running River whispered while panting and crawled into the hole. On the other side of the wall, the coast seemed to be clear. Luckily the sky as cloudy and the night was pitched black.

Great owl got in behind Running River and he was clawing his way through the hole while In the distence, the subtle clopping of Yansi hooves can be heard for a guard had been ordered to safeguard the perimeter of city walls.

 

[MJ ._.]

"Wait... one of them is nearing..." Running River whispered into the hole then pulled and broke branches of bushes and plant grown by the wall using them to cover the hole and himself hopping that the yansi wouldn't notice them.

 

[Tonstad39]

Great owl dragged himself back through the hole as the top of his head was covered in dirt and soot. The Yansi guard, however stopped next to the bush that hid Running River.

 

[MJ ._.]

Running River stayed out and held his breath, preying that darkness would cover them from beast's eyes.

 

[Tonstad39]

"Hm" said the guard haveing looked where he had heard rushing and cracking, while he didn't see anyone, he pushed back the bushes and began feeling the back of his hand one something oddly fleshy. Barely bow to see what it is, He feels around Running River's chest and began to lift him up onto some of the bush branches that create slight cuts in his arms.

 

[MJ ._.]

Running River cussed his luck in heart as the beast bent over and reached his hand out. He pulled himself back but it grabbed on his shirt and pulled him up through bushes. That caused papers he had rolled and tied with strap, fall off from under his shirt where he had hid them. As soon as the man was forcefully pulled out of his hideout, he saw himself too close to yansi's face so without a second thought he poked his index fingers into beast's eyeballs. "Take the paper roll and run... I'll hinder it here..." He told Great Owl while struggling with his opponent.

 

[Tonstad39]

Great owl got through the hole and took the papers and put it under his shirt. He as quietly as possible crawled through the bush and ran off into the knight while the guard was distracted. The guard upon being poked shook Running River in his arms as to disorient him.

 

[MJ ._.]

"Ugh... I was going to peel those stupid beady eyes of yours out... " Running river said as was shaken in beast's arms. He held on foe's thick arms and used all his weight to kick his chin up. And his next kick was going to hit its face.

 

[Tonstad39]

"You've got a- UGH" the guard stopped upon having the wind knocked out of him. "Uhh huhh" groaned the guard beginning to losen his grip before lurching forward as he had issues balancing on his hooves. The bottom end of his muzzle became a crimson red with blood comming out of his mouth as he'd chipped a couple of molars.

As yansi's grip loosened up, Running River wiggled himself out of its fingers and landed on the ground. The first thing he did was snatching the blade hanging from guard's belt and attacking him with it, aiming to pierce through his guts.
