Helrica watched Sarah attempt to create and use her ice knife, seemingly more bemused than anything by the display of magic. Leaning, as they were, on the car across from the one Sarah was trying to break into, they only stood straight when she asked for help. When Sarah asked, Helrica went over to Kevin's car. There, they started to do... something. But they seemed to catch themself just in time. "This is glass, yes?" They asked, rhetorically. Then they stood back, picked up their shield and bashed the window in, faster than an eyeblink, with just a flicker of sky-blue light from their forearm to suggest there was more to the action than it seemed.

As the glass fractured and collapsed, the car let out a blaring horn. The end of the world didn't mean cars stopped working; not in this case anyway. Sarah quickly unlocked the door and slung her bag over her shoulder, looking around the area afterwards. The car was loud but not in comparison to the chaos around them. It would still be wise to relocate. "Thank you, now we should get out of here." She said, and placed a hand on the woman's wrist to pull her along as she ran though the parking lot and into a nearby alleyway. After a quick Sprint, Sarah stopped to rest, her breathing already laborous. She leaned over and placed her hands on her knees.

"You Niners will never get away with this!" Victoria spat, struggling against the bonds she was tied up in. Swallowtail was right besides her, not so much as struggling, but taking the little bit of time they weren't using to fight to rest before Victoria eventually got them out of the situation.

If she did.

"Yeah? Says who?" A large robot retorted, his body a hulking mass of block like plates and limbs, a single brick with a glowing red lens signified his attention, and the massive gatling he had for an arm signified what he would do to those who earned it. The gun began to spin up, and Victoria quieted down. "What are we going to do with her 3?" A smaller, lankier robot questioned. He too was built for war, but didn't have the same tanklike structure the first had. It held a rifle in it's hands instead, alongside a similarly built robot of the same construction.

"Don't know yet. We can't just kill them, but the boss wants 'em gone without their blood on our hands." 3 put a large hand to his comparatively small head, and began stroking an imaginary chin. "We could put a few bullets into their legs, but the little one would just regenerate it away. We could push them off this ledge into the traffic, but I'm sure their hovercraft are heartbeat-bonded..." He thought aloud.

"Boss!" One of the smaller robots called out, but 3 was too deep in thought to hear. "Boss!" He shouted again, but it was clear that the larger robot was ignoring him. "Bo-" "WHAT IS IT THIS TIME 705? I'M BUSY TRYING TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO PUT THEM OUT OF COMMISSION!" "I found annuva portal-fingy!" 3 perked up, audibly creaking as he did. "Well then, you'll have to get a bigger cut of pay when we get back to HQ. Toss 'em in." His two lackeys heaved the bodies over their shoulders, and moved to bring them over to the swirling portal just off the side of the building. Suddenly, a laser cut through the legs of 705, bringing him to his knees, and dropping Swallowtail who fell with a grunt. "Snipers! Hurry it up, and I'll take care of 'em!" 3 shouted, before opening fire on the place where the bullet had come from. Another scathing shot, piercing the robot's tough hide from afar. 3 grunted, and fired from where he thought it came from. Another shot. And another, the massive war machine tumbled backwards as it found it's balancing systems and targeting matrix were picked apart from the inside.

Vaulting from rooftop to rooftop with a small figure, rifle in hands. "We're saved!" Swallowtail cheered, before a missed shot nearly tore her head off. 705 was busy trying to find a way to fight back, while the other lackey had nearly fallen into the swirling thing trying to carry Victoria, who had been kicking and fighting all the while. With a final few bursts, the other two robots found their heads filled with holes, and the figure who planted them there was far too close for Swallowtail's comfort. She watched as the figure leveled her rifle at her, and made a split second decision to hop into the portal after Victoria.

-x-

Annika nearly had her mark, the Niners who caught them were destroyed or disabled, but somehow, they slipped away. She peered into the portal her targets had hopped into, her uplink piece telling her that her target had just disappeared entirely. However, she had no idea where this portal would go, and she's never been one to make brash decisions out of the blue. For all she knew, the two had jumped into the pit of a volcano or into the outer reaches of space. But something else was at stake, her pride and reputation. What could happen to her if she came up short handed again? The collar would happen. A tingle spread through her body, but she steeled herself. She wasn't going to miss her mark. With a deep breath, she dove feet first into the portal.

Victoria tumbled into a city block, shortly followed by a little thud by Swallowtail. The mercenary broke her chains with ease, snapping them apart with just her arms. "A little help?" Victoria glanced over her shoulder to see her charge, squirming to try and wrestle her chains off. Smirking, she unholstered one of her pistols and shot off the chains with a single bullet, the shrapnel showering the demon's face, leaving cuts across it. "The hell Tori?!" Victoria shrugged, and waved her to follow along as she surveyed the area. The demon rolled her eyes, scraped the flecks of metal embedded into her skin, and hopped alongside Victoria, picking her way through the bodies and wrecked cars.

"Ooh! Tori! Tori! Look!" Swallowtail pointed. The mercenary lazily craned her head to where Swallowtail was pointing. "Water!" Victoria facepalmed as a stream of people rushed past them, leaving the shipping docks mostly desolate and empty. "Are you fucking serious right now? I have no idea where we are after we jumped through that portal, and your first concern is water?" Swallowtail frantically nodded her head in excitement. "I think I hate you." Victoria muttered.

The silent flash of a laser reminded them that they were in fact, being hunted. They dove behind a car as the sniper punched another hole through their cover. Swallowtail sucked in air as she sustained a wound on her arm. The shot went clean through her forearm, immediately cauterizing the wound. Victoria didn't bat an eye though, she knew that by the time they found safety, it'd be healed up. She checked her surroundings from all angles on her body, and spotted a gate in the distance. She had also spotted the reflective flash of the sniper's scope some distance away, and closing in between each pause.

"Get out your gun, and keep up. We're moving to those gates so we can get into proper cover." Her demon nodded, and a made a break for it, sprinting as fast as they could to the gate. A few shots zinged past them as they dove from cover to cover, barely noticing the man entirely preoccupied with something else. He had wild looking armor, something that reminded the two of a Paladin back home, but without the fancy paint job and halo of combat seers. Victoria decided to ignore him for now, and find a building to duck into. They sprinted past him, but Swallowtail shouted "SNIPER!" as they passed.

-x-

A scowl painted Annika's face as she found her mark was getting away. Her uplink came back up again, and chimed at her how she wasn't getting any reception to confirm her kill. A minor inconvenience. She would simply have to capture her, and dispose of the bodyguard. Easy. She slinked around the long way to the docks, keeping herself incredibly aware of their position and location at all times. They had just rushed into the gates, and so she would follow.

Helrica was momentarily stunned by the blaring, caught off-guard. "What-" Was all they could get out before they covered their ears in alarm. "Ernalda's tits, that noise!" They swore, the only thing they were able to do, before being dragged off by Sarah, towards the alleyways. Once there, they seemed in much better shape than Sarah, requiring no time to recover before they demanded of her: "What was that all about? Why did you steal that bag? And you still haven't told me: where is this?"

Amidst the commotion, a woman sat tucked away in the darkness of a shipping container, the door left slightly open to allow a crack of light in to shine upon her. A silent, giddy, horrific smile stayed permanently on her face and her entirely white eyes darted, seeing nothing. A very soft chant began low in her chest as she rocked forward and back. As she chanted, the shadows behind her began to coalesce and form two creatures from the depths of horror.

First, a sleek black head swept from the darkness like a snake, trailing a body with multiple arms and multiple slithering tails behind it. Inside its mouth were a horrible set of jagged teeth, made to sink into a victim and shred the flesh. The long talons already dripped with blood though it disappeared into black vapor before hitting the ground.

8650fb273c9746a4dd7014dd8ecd384e.jpg

The second beast cried glowing tears from its skeletal face. As they hit the ground, the bottom of the container melted as if from an incredibly strong and dangerous acid. The front talons of the wolf-life monster glowed from a coating of this liquid, as did its teeth. Although spikes were visible on its back, the areas furthest from the head seemed insubstantial. Slowly, silently, the two crept from the container and the door slide shut, hiding the woman away.

Shortly after Annika took her shot and began slinking around the long way to the docks, the wolf-beast eyed her from the top of a container. Only the soft scrape of its claws against the container announced its leap down upon her.

The slithering black monster let out a piercing shriek as it stalked the containers at high speed, looking for its prey. It did not attempt to hide or remain silent as it zeroed in on the two women and Akuma.

The sniper held her gun close to her body and pressed a button, revealing it's innards. She had it memorized by heart, and her hand immediately went to the Drake's projector, pushing it back further the main body of the gun and closer to the stock, various components sliding out of the way. This diffused the light slightly in the focusing lens, just enough to make it a circular shape that spread out as it travelled. It had a much shorter maximum range, but it covered much more area, like the buckshot she sometimes saw in the undercity.

She snapped the weapon shut, and aimed the gun at the chain fence, pressing her finger against the trigger. The metal disintegrated from the cone of red that blossomed from the barrel of the rifle. A few more trigger pulls, and a shoddy hole was made big enough for her to walk through easily. As she passed through the hole, as silently as she did everything else, the ominous scrape of something against metal caught her attention, her head snapping to the noise.

Some... thing, leapt down at her from one of the various antiquated cargo containers scattered around the dock yard. In a quick motion, she raised her rifle and fired, a perfect red cone blooming out from the Drake's mouth, noiselessly. The only sign of reaction the beast had evoke with it's terrifying appearance was a slightly furrowed brow from Annika, emotionless as ever.

Akuma

He was still listening to the commander when he noticed the two girls running by with one saying sniper as they did. "im a Friend. Weve got a problem here though. Do your satellites have communication and surveillance capabilities?" he said calmly in response to the commander as he dipped behind the gate itself following the girls. Rather than walking or running he let the wings of his suit carry him silently behind them. He was only an inch or so above the ground. Willing his suits speakers to adress the girls he spoke up. "On your left theres a warehourse. Im trying to get us some eyes on the surrounding area. Why are you being chased, and what can you do to help get out of this situation?" once the question was asked he swtuched off the external speakers to tell his A.I to engage a deep scan. Much to jis surprise the A.i had no witty comments this time. Instead it let ou. The penetrating radar pulse. It would seep through the walls of most nearby structures but alas there was to much debris and he could only get a few dozen yards around him mapped, he needed that satillite view to consolidate the data for an accurate smartmap. However he was made vaguely aware of something lurking near the containers. Yet it was on the edge of his map and he couldnt identify it. "Primary shields up" he said to the A.i causing his armor to begin crackling as a dull blue layer formed over his body.

Zudo & Aether

As the blade collided with the back of the lions neck it became apparent that it was a poor choice of target. The blade let out a metalic clang and sparks would fly Along with several long strands of mane. The impact shifted the lions head but it quickly responded swiping out with a paw the size of a manhole cover and the force to shatter boulders. The claws were each nearly a foot long and harder than the fur itself was. If the hit landed it would be grievous, yet he knew it was a big if. The speed with which she grabbed the blade showed that this bee woman was fast, far faster than his lion form. Yet the defense of the form would allow him to test the waters without risking heavy injury.

Seeing the bee warriors closing in on her in their formation caused Aether to grin internally. They were giving her the perfect set up. She took one step closer to the battlefield sure enough the bees took one step closer to her with their weapons drawn. This was it they had stepped in range, still she waited one more step came and she was sure all would be hit. She hoped it was gonne be enough to down them because all she would have left after this would be cantrips and lv 1 spells. Stepping forward once more she gathered all the magical energy she could muster and squeezed it into a tiny orb in her own body. Then she let it go. For a fraction of a second it looked like she had burst into flames, then those flames exploded outward propelled by a pressure wave and hot enough to kill a horse with ease.

Luckily the cow had looked up spotting the bees and deciding that was a big fat nope. She trotted into the street following the other people into the alley. Flames nipped at her tail as she made it to the alley. Aether on the otherhand was left in the epicenter of the blast she had made exhausted and trying to make a break for the alley.

Swallowtail was panting as she ran, checking over her shoulder for the sniper as she did. She felt the wind blow through her arm as she ran, but the wound was beginning to close. The veins had already begun forming, and the osseous membrane had begun to stretch across the exposed bones in her forearm.

She had barely processed what the scary floating man had emitted at them, but she caught 'warehouse' and 'left'. Why he was following them, she didn't want to question and didn't have time to think about. Right now, she was one foot in front of the other, following Tori to wherever she was leading them.

-x-

Victoria already loaded everything, all three of pistols were live in her hands. As they sprinted past the Paladinesque man, Red had shouted something stupid at him, and now he felt compelled to follow them. Great, just wonderful, another body to eat up sniper fire. Whatever, it wasn't her concern anyways. She didn't really know where she was running though, the maze of shipping containers, cranes, and warehouses didn't give her a clear safe spot to retreat to, so she decided on-

"On your left there's a warehourse. I'm trying to get us some eyes on the surrounding area. Why are you being cha-"

"SHUT UP!" Tori shouted. "SHUT THE HELL UP FOR ONE DAMN SECOND, I'M TRYING TO THINK!" She erupted. Out of everything he said, the only useful bit of info was that there was a warehouse nearby they could dive into.

Then, a high pitched shriek chased after them. More bullshit. Wonderful. Considering her luck, it'd probably be some monster, and Swallowtail would try and make friends with it immediately because 'I had one just like it in the pits Tori! Can I keep it?' Absolute bullshit. Their little ragtag band of miscreants from the future made it into the warehouse when they saw it: the shadow monster had been scrabbling and slithering towards them all this time. As soon as she saw it's head crown over the containers, Swallowtail had gasped in delight, just as predicted. Victoria growled and began to open fire on the monster. Swallowtail followed suit, conjuring swaths of purple flame to leap through the air to engulf the monster in hateflame.

The red cone of laser rifle fire struck the wolf-beast and the skeletal mask on its face cracked slightly. As the laser hit the creature's body, it seemed to become insubstantial and thus unharmed as it passed through. Just a moment before landing it became solid once more, smashing into Annika with all the momentum it had built up. Upon landing it raked its claws at her clothes and thrust its head forward, snapping at her face with its glowing teeth. The moment the glowing yellow liquid made contact with her clothing, it began eating through it, though more slowly than it had eaten through the metal of the containers. The beast was all together silent, except for the natural sounds of its claws and teeth.

~~~
Captain Bellin pulled the headset away from her mouth for a moment and turned to the team behind her, "Captain Cosmic here is a friend and he's got problems. Can we get eyes on the area?" "Yes, ma'am." "I'll have eyes on you in a moment. I don't know how well our systems compare so there may be limited information." There was a commotion in the background just before a "Ready!" came from the background and Belling looked at the satellite view on her screen. She began working on her end, with the occasional muttering, to interface with the man's communications system and attempt a connection to upload the satellite feed. "There's something fast approaching the warehouse that two others entered. Additionally, there's two other pings a short distance from you."
As the Captain relayed her information, the black slithering beast sped toward Victoria and Swallowtail, shrieking as it caught sight of prey. As Victoria's guns barked, firing upon the beast, it moved to dodge the bullets with a preternatural speed. One bullet did manage to hit before the beast dodged but it passed through harmlessly, leaving a trail of shadow in its wake. When the hateflame came toward it the monster tried to dodge, clearly recognizing the danger of flame, but even though the flames came in contact with it, they died out almost instantly.
~~~

Anthera released the blade as it harmlessly struck upon the lion's neck with a clang and sparks. She darted away almost instantaneously, watching his paw swipe out and hit the sword, shattering it. Her eyes narrowed in calculation for a brief moment before she flitted away and toward the edge of the park where a large rock sat partly sunk into the ground. She gripped it and strained, lifting it from the ground after a moment of exertion, and hurled it at Zudo before darting away again to grab a spear from one of the two bee knights still guarding the portal.

The bee warriors who approached Aether brandished their swords, spears, and axes at her as they approached. One had leapt forward just as she released her magic, its sword coming close enough to cut across her upper arm though not deeply before it was caught in the pressure wave and hurled back, on fire, and burning nigh instantaneously. The other warriors were more fortunate though they too were on fire and panicked as they all attempted to put themselves out. One by one they dropped, burned to a crisp. Only one survived, though heavily injured and simply able to watch as Aether and the cow darted away from them toward the alley where Seth waited at the edge.

The minotaur bellowed and thrashed as glork planted the dagger into its hide. It shook back and forth, like a dog shedding water, to dislodge the small creature and the blade from its body. Its head swept back and forth, horns ready to gore anything that approached. Upon seeing multiple of its enemy charging it, the beast threw its arms wide and attempted to grab them all up and pierce them all upon its horns.

it was a strange couple of days for the crew of the bolases rampage they had been called out form the capital to follow a titanic group of larazit and other beasts moving toward a point of extremely high magic, it was considered an issue due to the possible orcs had somehow managed to find a mana condenser and begin to overload it, no one really had any reason to make any sense of why these creatures where going there, however, when the vessel got there, it only blinding light the reactor going into a meltdown magic blasted out of its core, damaging parts of the vessel as the blast door trapped the crew in various sections as the spider got torn apart dumping the chucks across some unknown city on an even more unknown planet one of the crew section being thrown into some bay, jolting the only sleeping crew awake, they looked like, some sort of kid dressing up like a demon, but was very much in fact one. only being slammed at the wall of the room relising he was in fact sinking into the ground he tried his best to open the deadlock door.. but.. to no avail

Annika grunted as the wolf beared down all of it's weight on her. She wasn't prepared for it, thinking that it was just a wolf from some other alternate dimension, having the properties and rules of an average wolf. Clearly, it didn't. What she did notice about the wolf is that it's 'mask' began to crack as she blasted it with her rifle, the only thing keeping the gnashing maws from chomping down on her. What were her options? Use her legs to keep the beast's body weight off her body? Difficult, but not impossible. Try and toss the wolf's weight off her? Sure, like that's happening any time soon. She had a much better idea, and it involved a gun. However, her thoughts were being cut short, the tears of the beast had been slowly searing away her clothes and began an unpleasant tingling sensation on her skin that she could only assume was beginning to slough away as well.

She drew a leg in to her chest, and kicked out at the beast. This was accompanied with her reaching for her pistol on her thigh, and blasting it into the thing's face in one swift motion. She had let go of Drake altogether to grab her other gun, and held out her forearm to fend off the beast's further attacks. Just like with the magnahounds at home she trained with. It was just training, not some magic dog-monster, just another test.

The handcannons boomed their explosive payloads, unable to find purchase on the creature's evasive body. Purple flame scorched the air, but their ethereal nature got the best of them, the fire put out as soon as it made contact with the creature. This wasn't good, it was time for a new plan. "Red! You're gonna do the thing on my mark!" The demon frowned as her attempts at using hateflame were thwarted, and her face became horrified when she was told to 'do the thing.' That only ever really meant one thing in particular, and she didn't have enough time to argue with Victoria before the monster reached them.

Swallowtail inhaled deeply, then exhaled, calming herself in spite of the creature scrabbling towards them. Tori holstered most of her pistols, except for 1, and hefted her friend over her shoulder. She wasn't too heavy at least, but the next step was going to be difficult. The mercenary began to break into a run, abandoning the monster and Akuma, sprinting deeper into the warehouse, where things would be more confined. She just needed to make sure that she remembered the layout of the place as she sprinted around. Red took the running as her cue and began to spew out a deep purple mist from her eyes and mouth. Neon fluid began to spill from them as the Death Miasma left a thick trail behind the two. Not much got through it, but that also meant that they weren't going to be able to turn around either. Swallowtail could handle making it for a while, since it came from two very specific areas on her face, but getting it into her own lungs and eyes wasn't something she wanted to do.

Victoria remembered this distinctly as an entire concept of an ancient game a few centuries ago she unearthed in her vintage hunt: Tron. If this was the game, then damn well she was going to win it. She knew though that her trail wouldn't run on forever. She felt Red's blood dripping down from her chin and onto Tori's back. She was going to need a break, and when they finally stopped, she was going to have to protect her in addition to fending off the monster that she seemed to be ill-equipped to fight against. Her mind began to concoct a new plan as she pumped her legs as fast as she could.

The wolf-beast whined quietly when Annika’s foot contacted its chest, shoving it back and away from her. It sailed through the air a short distance before landing on the ground on all fours. It growled, prepared itself, and launched forward again with a strong push of its back legs. Sharp black claws covered in glowing tears that streamed thicker down the beast’s face went for her abdomen or chest while white shining fangs buried themselves in her forearm. The tears continued to run down over its muzzle and over her arm, though it’s bite almost protected her as it prevented the open wounds from coming in contact with the tears. For the moment. The beast’s eyes stared at her face as it tried to shake its head to off-balance her. It’s eyes were empty of any thought or instinct that would normally be present in a wolf.

~~~
The black monster came close enough as Tori threw Swallowtail over her shoulders that it attempted to swipe on of its taloned “hands” at the pair, just barely missing as the pair ran away. It shrieked, the sound deafening and blood curdling, the frills on it’s head standing up and shivering. It paused for a moment and seemed to taste the air as Swallowtail began spewing the miasma behind them. It didn’t seem to detect anything odd and darted after them, straight into the miasma. Even though the creature was fast enough to catch up to them, the moment it touched the miasma is shrieked again, this time clearly in surprise and pain. At first the outer surface of the creature began sloughing off in solid chunks and it was practically brought to a halt. However, after a few seconds longer the chunks began turning to black smoke as did the creature’s body. The two swirled together before reforming as a vague smoky black impression of the monster which continued moving forward toward them through the miasma, though more slowly than a running human. The presence of the miasma almost seemed to dilute it, preventing it from forming a whole and complete creature but instead forcing it to slowly break apart and reform as it moved.
Annika was frankly surprised at how far she was able to press back the wolf, she thought it would be much heavier than that. She supposed that her legs were strong from all the running around she did while on the hunt. These thoughts briefly occupied her before she found teeth sinking into her flesh again, and claws raked across her stomach. This hurt, but it didn't make the hunter flinch. She pressed the barrel of her pistol against the forehead of the wolf without question, and pulled the trigger over and over again. Sure, if it's skull wasn't thick enough, she would be firing into her own arm, but things like this were small prices to pay for the surety of the mission. She considered having to get synth-skin so things like this would stop happening to her while she fired into the wolf.
-x-
Victoria looked over her shoulder as the creature shrieked in agony. Her face contorted in confusion as it began to dissipate in Swallowtail's mists. She smirked, and continued to run. Not knowing the layout of the warehouse made things difficult, she had to pre-glance before making a turn so she wouldn't run into her own mist, which she almost did a few times. With enough twists and turns, she found that there was few exits for her to reach before she locked herself in, she considered running around a little bit more before she heard a wet cough followed by a pained belch and grunt. A warm stringy liquid ran down the back of her jacket, she didn't have to look behind her to figure out that Swallowtail just threw up blood.
"Tor..." Swallowtail muttered, limp in her grip.
"Yep, yep." The mists had stopped a minute or two ago, and she couldn't see the creature immediately in sight. The mercenary dropped down to a knee and set down her compatriot gently on a shelf. The demon was clearly spent, neon green blood seeped from her closed eyes, and ran in rivulets down her cheeks and chin, which was spattered a slightly more tame shade of green. Swallowtail was wheezing with every breath, but they were somewhat safe for now. The demon coughed, then groaned in pain, drawing her legs to her chest and curling up into a ball. She clearly wasn't ready to fight, run, or do anything right now.
Victoria was resolute now. She wasn't going to let this monster hurt her, or her friend. She loaded up some more hollowpoints, and scanned for an exit to the warehouse, and the shadowy mass that was the monster. She was ready to blast it, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to hit it, or even wound it properly. It didn't matter, she was prepared. She trained her guns on the mists around her, waiting anxiously for something to come out at her.
Aether cried out as the blade connected ti her arm but made no effort to lash back out. It seemed the flames had taken care of most of the bee soldiers and she wasnt gonna stick around and wait for more bugs. Instead she bounded into the alleyway behind the cow. She leaned against the wall in the alley's opening asking. "are you all okay?" She said to the others as a bit of blood trickled down her arm...
Zudo sniffed the air and seemed to be lost in thought for a moment. The same moment when the boulder came flying towards him. Sadly based on the scent he had picked up this fight of his needed to end soon. He shifted back to his natural form in an instant casting fur too and fro, then scattering it as he thrust his fist into the boulder shattering it into shards and scattering the fur strands. He then grabbed the dagger off of the small of his back. He scanned the battlefield for the bee woman seeing her over by her guards. Smiling he began to gather his magic in his left hand. "Come now, let us continue, I dont have time to wait around." he said smiling as he flipped the dagger blade side down.
Akuma
The heroes eyebrow arched when one of the two ran past him clainming to need time to think. The two continued in to the warehouse. However what she said resounded with him. time to think. a grin popped up on his face beneath his visor and he took to the air. The bottom of his wings letting out an Ion trail as he flew at least a kilometer up. "Thanks Captain..." he said as he watched his A.I combine their Deep scan data with the satillite data. What he got was a 3-D map with several Signatures showing up. Across the street from the docks he watched their hidden sniper engaging a strange wold creature, and she was human it seemed, or at least humaniod.
The other two were within the warehouse with a strange snakelike creature. His scan data provided little information on the two creatures but nonetheless he locked on his targets. His hands began to glow and he pointed one at each creature. A similar glow began to form on the top sections of his wings. "Targets locked and and timed ready when you are." he waited a fraction of a second as he eyed the map before shouting "FIRE." brilliant blue light rained from above as his twin assaults were launched. For each of the seemingly human targets he had fired his personal shields at them. This would encase them in a barrier of crackling energy linked to his suit through a blue energy line. Meanwhile the two inhukan creatures were fired on by a gattling stream of Laser fire.
He had only just finished his words when the blade thunked into his chest. "Wai-" he started before the blade knocked the air out of his lungs and he felt his head move in ways it shouldnt have. The two watching would be shown a grizzley spectacle. The broken shards of skull pulled themselves together like a glass breaking in reverse. The parts which were destroyed by the teeth regrew like a time lapse of a candle melting into a mold. While all this was taking place the blade was pushed out of his chest by the wound closing itself. Altogether it took only a few seconds, surely less than ten. "T lets start over." he finished his sentence as he jolted up this time having no vision or mysterious meeting.
"Alright lets go to this Square park place." he said checking how many rounds were in the shotgun. It held 6, and the shop owner had another 7 rounds lying around which he had already put in his abdominal storage chamber. As they walked he stayed silent for several minutes before speaking up. "So you arent exactly from around here either are you?" he asked calmly as his eyes scanned the area in front of them.
A deep rumble escaped the Deepfolks chest as he stared at the portal. He poked it with his trident and the weapon began to hum and crackle. But more importantly when he pulled it back there was water on it. Small amounts, salty, not anywhere near as dense. He thought about it for several minutes before he decided to go through the strange swirling crimson maw. After all he was an adventurer and one who had slain the gods no less, what did he have to fear.
As he swam through the portal immedietly his eyes and gills began to burn. The water was far saltier that he was accustomed to, yet the burn slowly subsided as his body adapted. Much to his horror, his eyes adjusted revealing a thick layer of garbage on the bottom of this sea. He assumed whatever specoes owned this world had died out leaving their debris behind. But a splash near the surface got his attention and turned his sorrow into rage. They still lived, and continued to disrespect seas.
He cut through the water like a bullet grabbing ahold of the large metal canister hard enough that his handprint would be left in the metal. He then carried the thing while swimming only slightly slower. Bursting through the surface and continuing through the air and eventually landing on a nearby pier. His massive frame shaking the wooden structure. He dropped the metal canister beside him and bellowed loud enough for all on the pier to hear. "Your oceans have been claimed by the hydronaut empire. No longer shall you partake in the abundance of her waters. For the crimes of abusing the very seas itself, i decree that the seas shall now abuse you." he cackled madly as he said this before firing a crackling bolt from his trident at the largest structure he saw on the dock, a ferris wheel. The central axle was hit and exploded into metallic slag causing the ferris wheel to fall through the wooden pier. He didnt stop there however firing two more bolts one hitting a concession stand, the other slamming into one of those ballon dart game booths. Both erupted into smouldering scraps of wood and the contents. Fortunatly most of the people had already panicked and fled with the sky turning red and armageddon seeming to be taking place.
Sarah took a few more moments to catch her breath before answering Helrica. "I didn't steal it. It's my bag." She stood up straight. "We're in New York City. I don't know where you're from or what universe you are used to, but I'm not sure there's time to explain much. All I know is that there are crazy monsters everywhere and I can control water." She summarized quickly. "What about you? You're yet to do any explaining yourself." She said, eyeing their horns with curiosity, as well as the series of trinkets they wore.
Helrica crossed their arms as they leaned against the alley wall, looking up at the towering blocks of city skyscrapers as she spoke. Just how much of what Sarah said they understood was left ambiguous, though they did seem to listen quite intently. At the end of it, when Sarah asked Helrica to explain, Helrica looked to her and replied: "Very well. But if you wish to know something, be specific. Generalities give me no place to start and will give little benefit to you." As they did so, they seemed almost to look past Sarah, ears picking up on the faraway, but approaching sounds of a rampaging Tidus.
Sarah rummaged through her bag and retrieved her hydro flask, opening it and letting the water spill out into the air where she caught it and constructed another ring around herself. "What's up with the horns? And all the stuff you have on?" She asked, currently unaware of Tidus's approach. "You look like you're not from earth, but you said you were." She added, unsure of the woman's confusing origins. It was as if she was from a timeline so similar yet distant; strange to think about.
Both distracted by the incoming cacophony of Tidus's rampage and seemingly inured to magic, they took little notice of the ring of water and concentrated on the questions, instead. "All the horns? I only have the two." Helrica said, raising a hand to touch them as they said this. "They are a sacred gift, a birthright of Heler, a mark of a Hero. Now-" They looked down at their clothes, confused. "What do you mean, all "this stuff?" I am just wearing clothes. Though if you mean the armor now- I am a mercenary. For now, anyway. Even if I wasn't, I could hardly go travelling unarmed." Shaking their head, they looked past Sarah again, shaking their head, as they answered her last question with a question of their own. Kind of, anyway. "I don't know what you mean by that. I am not a person in whom earth is strong, but if you are asking if I am from the earth, I would say so: I am not from the sea, nor the sky, nor the underworld." That done, they asked a question of their own that had been bothering them: "Is it always so loud here?"
Sarah shook her head. "Typically yes but not like this. None of these creatures were here an hour ago." She began. "The sky just turned red and portals started spiting out nightmares. I'm still not sure what's going on, but I can't drive Kevin's car without his keys and there probably won't be anyone in the city to help us." She explained, feeling hopeless without her friend. If it weren't for her spontaneous abilities, Sarah would most likely be dead. "At the moment, we only have each other, so let me trust you and hope that I can do the same ok?" She asked in sincerity. "Sheesh I haven't even asked your name, I'm Sarah." She let out a hand to Helrica, droplets of water dripping from her hand.
As the massive lumbering fishman stalked down the street he blasted everything and anything he could. Except for the few things he wanted to handle more personally. Like the tow truck that he folded in half before hurling it through the air like a missile soaring over the parking lot and colliding into the stone wall, smashing straight through it where it came to a rest after plowing through a stairwell. This caused him to smile as he spotted a lot full of other cars. He broke into a lumbering jog coming to a stop near a van which he stooped down to get his hand underneath before launching it as if it were a toy, this time colliding with the glass ceiling behind the stone walls. The massive monster cackled wildly "You surface dwellers and your feeble constructs, why would you make something so fun to break." he said with a snort as his trident began to crackle and hum with energy. He began to cackle again as he fired blast after blast into the ornate building taking chunks out of the magnificent building and starting the beginning of what was sure to become a dangerous fire. However in his joy he was completely oblivious to two young women hiding in an alley near the lot. He only paused when an unfortunate winged creature attempted to scoop him up only to be impaled and dragged down to a crushing death under the fishmans feet.
The wolf snarled and attempted to bite deeper as Annika fired rounds into its skull. Each bullet seemed to pass through the mask as if it wasn't there but with each round the crack along the side of the mask grew and spread across it. One of the bullets exited from the back of the wolf, travelling almost straight upwards despite the angle it had been fired. A black trail of smoke followed it and dissipated slowly. The other bullets did not exit. Mid-way through the multitude of bullets, the wolf began to disengage its teeth, pulling away and springing back some distance as if it had almost no weight to it. It shook itself and growled before pacing left to right, examining her from the distance. Several silvery spots floated around inside its head, moving chaotically, until one by one the bullets began to shoot out at random angles. The mask cracked further.
Just then the laser fire began to rain down from Akuma and the protective shield formed around the wolf's target. It turned its attention to Akuma but did not see any way to reach the flying target. Most of the laser fire passed harmlessly through the shadowy body of the wolf, only the occasional one hitting its mask and causing the mask to crack. At this point the mask was criscossed with various lines and almost seemed to shudder slightly as the beast moved, dodging more laser fire.
The shadowy mass moved through the miasma slowly but steadily until it was in view of Victoria and Swallowtail. It continued moving, a roiling mass of black and shadow with the occasional solid piece reminiscent of the monster before it melted back into the fluid. Once it crossed the threshhold of the miasma and was in a space free of the miasma it seemed to explode apart slightly before reforming into a physical mass in the shape of the black monster. It seemed somewhat damaged with the flesh on some areas shredded or almost melted. But even those parts seemed to be reforming, although at a much slower rate. It began to move forward at great speed until a barrage of laser strikes began to impale it, causing it to once more slow down as it dissolved part-way into a meld of solid monster and seething smoke. The monster hissed, spreading the frills around its head, and moved forward achingly slowly toward the pair.
As the minotaur charged and attempted to sweep up the multiple Harlotecks in its view, it felt as one of its arms was gripped and the force of the lizard on the end along with its own forward momentum pulled at the arm. The monster bellowed in pain and anger but instead of the arm being ripped off, it swung around like a ball on the end of a rope and came back around at Harloteck, horns down and ready to impale.
Seth's eyes widened as Aether came back into the alley, a cut on her arm and blood trickling down her arm. His pupils widened as well, drastically. Unbeknownst to the others, his vision shifted and he no longer saw the normal colors and shapes but instead a glowing multicolored aura in Aether's, red the predominant color. Along the arm there was a tear, a gash in the colors, where the blackness of the world around them bled through. He felt a compulsion to reach out toward the gash and did so, not touching it directly but around it, coaxing the colors and patterns to flow back into shape. To everyone else the flesh around the wound began to flow and reform until fresh unbroken skin returned, as if nothing had happened. Seth's vision snapped back to normal and he looked up at Aether's face, surprised.
Meanwhile, Anthera regarded Zudo from a distance and judged the weight of the spear in her hand. "You should make time for your new rulers. You do not even comprehend the power of the Hive," she intoned. She then darted forward, in a zig-zagging pattern just like a bee moving the air, but steadily toward him and around him as she looked for an opening. She kept enough distance between them that her speed and agility was to her advantage as well as the reach of the spear. She began moving faster and faster as she tried to find an opening and when she thought she saw one for just a split moment, she thrust the spear forward.
Harima watched as her blade fell from his chest and his skull began to reform until he sat up, fully healed in front of her. She pulled another blade from its sheath and approached, swiping her bloodied blade from the ground. She bared her teeth and held her knives at the ready, threateningly, and Eskal growled low in his chest from a distance. He licked his fangs long and slow, hunger practically glowing in his eyes. "You may not die easily but I am guessing you can hurt... How much damage would I have to do to kill you? Speak quickly, male. I am impatient, particularly with your kind."
"Then that is where we will go." Amana directed them up the proper roads and toward Madison Square Garden. She stayed silent as long as he did, simply watching the side streets and keeping an eye out for threats. It seemed that this section of the city had mostly emptied out by now, both the people and the monsters moving to different areas. No portals actively winked at them from any of the side streets either. But a chaotic hum of noise was on every horizon. "That would be correct. I came through a portal, much like you, though I have had slightly more time to understand this world. What sort of place did you come from?"
The crew quarters sunk to the bottom of the ocean the young demon resigned himself to his fate no where to go now, that was until something rammed into the chunk of the spider walker throwing it thankfully onto land the pier strained under the weight of the metallic structure hunter regaining his balance and peering out of the window a massive fishman seemed to have been the culprit. Looking at the deadlock it had been smashed in the damage from the throw, hunter needed to get out now... but the fish man was still there and was definitely aggressive as he obliterated many structures he wouldn’t take to kindly to him st least he assumed, seeing his distaste for practically everything. He grabbed his work bag and a device that looked a little like a old flintlock pistol before squeezing his way through the bulkhead that was only opened half way thanks to being smashed in. Hunter did try his best to sneak past the fish man but the noise of the clanging tools within his bag made that all but impossible. He would no doubt attract the attention of the huge fish man. Holding perfecting still one arm held the little pistol firmly. If someone where to look at the young demon, there was something undeniably pleasant if not outright attractive about him. This was of course thanks to the boys natural charm.
Instead of taking Sarah's hand, Helrica clasped her forearm instead, apparently in expectation of a reciprocal gesture. "Helrica Ramsblood, child of Hemrin, Blue Snake and Argath." They told her, but the introduction only lasted a moment before the crashing sounds of Tidus attacking the parking lot and surrounding buildings hit and Helrica let go to dash out of the alley. Turning their head back to Sarah, they remarked: "I think you had best forget about your keys. He is where we were standing." With that, they strode forth from the alley, towards Tidus.
"You!" Helrica yelled at the invading king. "Who are you who comes to this place, a place that is not yours to fight?" All about Helrica, there seemed an unnatural focus: not quite a glow, but an intangible something that drew the eye. Right there and then they seemed to stand out from the world around them, clearer, sharper and brighter. "Tell me! Who are you! Who are your gods? Why do you do this thing that you are doing? Answer me now!"
