That one thing from the other day
the academty.jpg
Tuesday March 16th- year 1014 NE. Mythos academy, Venusian northern Clouds

as the last few shuttles touched down on the outer rings docking sections automated boarding procedures would take an annoying few minutes as cabins were cleared of the Venusian gas and debris from space. within the shuttles the first years would likely be agitated, many of them waiting impatiently, other dreading the moment the doors would open. It was a scene that hard repeated all day at this point one that the upperclassmen were forbidden from witnessing in person. the outer rings were to be sealed off for the next hour while first years were scanned into the systems given holo-maps of the academy and its city like sprawl and of course divided into their two teams. For the second, third, and fourth years the day was far less eventful but no less full of tension. They would awaken with their respective teams messaged to their PDP or personal data pads, and of course they would not have classes today as it was the last day of the three month winter truce where the war was postponed and a semblance of normalcy could exist. with the teams being scrambled many find their old friends as enemies for this years war and tomorrow the battles begin. All across the island stress grows and friendships are strained by the coming challenges, however just as many new alliances grow. those who were enemies last year now find themselves forced to stand shoulder to shoulder and with the aegis barrier to be opened for the outward push in only five years the time for failures and repeating years is gone. however it is not just stress and tension that is palpable and permeates the air around the academy, divine energy has reached a level not seen in all of the academies history as never before have so many legends occupied the floating city at one time. thousands of first years came in today, around two thousand second years are here, just over 700 third years, and 300 4th years, the total number is just over ten thousand. Media and government officials swarm the floating city all over seeking new first years and their favorite upperclassmen to harass and possibly try to negotiate with them, with things so hectic a lot can happen...

Hector

A sigh escaped his lips as he stoop atop the great libraries tallest spire where he could see clearly across to the outer ring where the first years were being unloaded. today had started off genuinely crappy, he found out he was on the opposing team to Anita which sucked, but worse than that they were both selected as leaders making the past three years of his life seem like a waste to him. after all there was no way their relationship would be able to continue as it had been, not with them basically being put in competition with one another. suddenly his instincts would cause the hair on the back of his neck to stand up and sure enough he spotted the massive spear flying at him fast enough that he hadn't heard its sonic boom yet. He pinched the bridge of his nose as three powerful arms erupted out of an arrangement of three portals shaped like a triangle, the arms caught the spear flexing hard as the force reverberated through them. shortly afterwards he threw the spear back to where it came from only to watch as a sward of ravens intercepted it then drifted next to him forming into a tall young man with an eye patch and his spear shining in his hand beside him. "i hope your ready hector today is the day i wi-" he started but hector cut him off with a brisk. "Not today Gerald...just...not today alright." he sounded tired and frustrated enough that his tall friend seemed to relent quickly. " alright alright, Geez man you look like crap today..." he looked desperately for anything to change the subject before he asked "any good recruits this time around?" Gerald said as he started to lean against the spear lazily. "not that i can tell, there are way to many to differentiate their aura's, none really stand out...yet." he said happy to be thinking about something else but he was quickly dragged back into his grump moments later when his other fourth year friend Molly showed up, her sandals fluttering as the light like aura faded off of her, neither man had seen her arrive, but neither was surprised by this fact. "The message was delivered hector, and before you ask no i dont know if she read it or not." she said flatly as she joined the other two in watching the shuttles unload the first years. "any good picks?" she asked nearly mirroring geralds question. hector sighed once again before saying "we will find out later, lets go grab some chow, i think the tea house should be open now." as the last words left his lips he simply walked off the edge of the tall tower he stood on, several hands interweaving to catch him below as several other gently slowed his decent. the ball of light beat him to the streets, and the swarm of ravens were shortly behind the light. by the time his foot touched the ground they had assumed their human forms again and the three fourth years wandered to the tea house three miles down the empty road.

Anita

The shouts of fury could be heard throughout the entire luxury hotel "THAT SPINELESS BASTARD WAS TO SCARED TO TELL ME TO MY FACE?!? IM GONNA KILL HIM, THAT MULTIARMED SOCIAL IDIOT DIES THIS YEAR!" Anita said storming out of her room with a pout
on her face. "I told you that guy was no good...way to serious for a gal like you, you need someone more li-"the third year named john started "STUFF IT JOHN! GO CHASE YOUR TAIL OR SOMETHING. " she interrupted him as she continued down the corridor and he followed, more joining them as they marched. "Ma'am the last of the first years have arrived perhaps you would like to send a delegation to meet them and gather the underworld team members?" the young woman named Ashley dressed in a black leather dress with both skulls and flowers in her hair said. finally as they made it to the lobby Anita breathed deeply before addressing Ashley. "No...no ill go myself, we can take them to the underworld banquet hall have the kitchen start the feast and send someone to find me a few buses. hectors dumbass is probably gonna make his team march on some macho crap, so we will have ours relaxed and as happy with their new digs as possible." she seemed to catch a glint in her eye as she thought about besting hector which caused ashley and john to swap worried looks. Anita paid them no min d however continuing out of the hotels lobby and climbing in the car she had waiting. ashley would get in with her and john would also attempt to do so but would be stopped by Anita "who did you think i was talking to when i mentioned the buses silly? go on, you can meet us at the banquet hall." she said as the door closed and the car drove off. John just chuckled a bit before turning to walk towards the car port while pulling out his PDP and messaging the Roadmaster A.I.

Riley

As he exited the shuttle riley scoffed, so this was the place that was supposed to offer him challenges beyond what he had ever faced. it certainly didnt look like much. a ritzy floating city on venus could hardly be as bad as the slums of earth. his thoughts were only further reinforced by the first years around him. "geez look at all these teary eyed fodder." he said with a cynical tone. "Right, so much more honest then the "trying to act brave" fodder like yourself." a high pitched voice said from behind him causing him to turn to eye Bork with hated fury. "watch your mouth pork chop, i havent eaten yet." Riley growled. bork simply ignored the ornery kid walking past him and saying "move on derpdrop, we gotta go get some of those personal data pads the brochure mentioned, then we get our schedules, then we can go eat." the mention of food seemed to be accompanied by the small pig starting to salivate. "Yeah whatever bacon bit im gonna hurry up so i can tell the kitchen staff to keep you out." Riley chided with a smirk as he sprinted to the nearest kiosk. " YOUD BETTER NOT YOU JEEERRRRKKKK." the tiny pig shouted as it beat it hooves on the oavement following riley into the crowd...

Jason Livius

Jason rolled his eyes as he stood in the back corner of the cold metal shuttle. The inside was surprisingly dark, considering the 'reputation' the school was so proud of. In all honestly, Jason had never heard of the school, nor did he have any intention of attending at first. But he was offered something he couldn't pass up once they explained. Power. The power to protect. The power to destroy. The power to inflict fear on others. He already had that inside of him, or so he was told, but if he wanted to hone these abilities, he needed not only people to teach him and a place to learn, but competition. He could only judge himself so far on the weaklings back at home. The people who attended this school were like him. They all held powerful secrets inside of them, unique secrets that only they could access. And with each secret unveiled came the chance for Jason to prove himself across the universe.

But if this was the case...why was everyone on board the shuttle so weak?

The entire journey over, there were people nervously chatting away or silently trembling with fear or crying and sobbing to themselves. Jason would have liked to believe that they were all afraid of him; he had begun testing and demonstrating his abilities and those he deemed unworthy to live any longer back in his colony, and he was sure rumors had begun to spread but it was impossible for these lot to know. He lived in a remote village in the middle of the desert on Mars. There were hardly any people that strayed out that far, so all these city kids probably didn't even know his village existed. The only reason why the school knew where to find Jason was because they had some sort of sensor that could read whenever people like him used their powers, or so he assumed. In all honesty, he had no idea how they knew about him. But he didn't care. As long as they could give him what he wanted, then that's all that mattered.

Jason let out a groan and rolled his eyes, kicking himself off the shuttle wall as he slid his hands in his pockets. The nervous murmuring grew in volume before suddenly dropping into silence. They had landed. The annoyed look on the boy's face quickly transformed into that of a cocky smirk. He had arrived. About time really. If all it took to shut everyone up was for them to stop moving, he would have just blown a hole in their shuttle and forced an emergency landing. At least then the cowards who were having second thoughts could run home to their perfect little families and cry about how nervous they were.

The shuttle began to shake softly, which caused an uproar of panic once more. "Honestly, you lot..." Jason said in a cold, quiet voice. "If all it takes to scare you senseless is the doors opening, you should just leave now." He paused briefly as he yawned, covering his mouth before walking towards the exit of the shuttle, light beginning to seep in as the doors began to open. "It won't be any fun if my prey are a bunch of wimps..." Jason placed his hand back into his pocket and waited for the door to fully open for him. He walked down the ramp of the shuttle, ignoring the smoke that covered his vision. He was here and he couldn't wait to see what all the fuss was about.

Being able to experience a wistful thing like magic in this academy is something that Cassandra would never have dreamed of doing in her entire life. But then again, this is something that most normal people would want to learn about if given the chance to do so. Humanity has always been curious about magic, since they have a hidden desire to want to learn it. However, due to people not knowing whether magic exists. Nobody has gotten the chance to learn anything about it, but they write stories about magic users in their books.

It excited Cassandra from her seat on the shuttle, because of the magic thing she was told about. Although, she has no clue if the Hecate legend part is true or not. They are wearing a witch outfit after all, as she pretended to be a witch before arriving at the academy. There was also a polecat hidden underneath Cassandra's witch hat, since Merlin doesn't want to be noticed. He did that while the strangers were in their house, because they were hiding underneath Cassandra's bed. 'Magic, here I come, since I am going to be Venus' first magic researcher.' thought Cassandra, who dreamed about being an actual witch. They only wanted to become one, so she could protect those she cared about from danger. Not to mention, she always wanted to mess around with it.

The mysterious witch legend came out of the shuttle upon landing on the academy's rings, and they looked around the place. 'Oh. The academy is on Venus, and not on some random planet like Earth or Mars.' thought Cassandra. Before they forced them to get on the shuttle with the stuff her parents had packed for them. She thought it was going to head towards Mars or Earth. Seeing that the academy was on Venus made her calmed down, since they didn't take her away from her home planet.

The peace didn't last, since upon noticing that the media and the government officials were at the academy. Hers and Hecate's instincts were triggered by that, so they ran away from them. 'Oh shit. Not the media and government. Anything but them, since I don't want to deal with that.' thought Cassandra. This girl was never a talker around social people like the media or the government officials, so if they got her. She wouldn't say very much about herself unless someone mentions magic. They won't shut up about that.

Reverie Andreas

Reverie hadn't necessarily meant to fall asleep in the back of the shuttle, but tucked against the cold metal wall on the hard seat, well, it wasn't that much different from his bed at home, to be honest, so can you really blame him? It wasn't until he was being startled awake by the collective movement of kids moving to their feet and shuffling away, rocking the shuttle like a sleepless child's crib, the aggressive bounce of his skull against the metal wall, that's what finally awoke the boy. It's not his fault, he had been in and out of sleep since the late afternoon of the day before, this was just his usual, any moment of downtime feeling like the perfect moment for a nap, and the magical way he could fall asleep in the span of only a few seconds. He didn't much care, though, there was no embarrassment, Reverie wasn't much for first appearances as it is, he was used to being perceived wrongly, or not being perceived at all, and didn't care much what others thought of him, unlike most the kids he'd seen, anxiety obvious in the way they moved and chattered, like morning birds.

Reverie didn't like crowds, not at all, and he wasn't much one for meaningless conversations with strangers, so it was probably for the better that he spent the ride lost in dreams of all kinds, lucid and fun like he was lost among the clouds, and Snowball had apparently felt the same, laid across their shoulders, soft fur pulsing slowly with her breath and brushing against Reverie's neck, though she too had been startled awake with the metal clang and loud voices, hissing softly, breath unsteady. Reverie reached a hand up and brushed her softly, cooing and gushing her softly, blinking the world back into focus and peering at the succession of students bouncing down the aisle and off the shuttle. Reverie thought about his mom, wishing him well the day before as she wasn't there to see him off, he was simply lucky he had his brother to wake him up in time to catch the shuttle, and that they'd made him pack his things days before, not that he had much to his name. But Reverie was lucky for his brother, who shook them out of bed and walked them to the shuttle, carrying both their luggage while Reverie yawned and rubbed their eyes, Snowball slung over their shoulder, watching everything through slitted eyes.

Snowball didn't like change, didn't like vehicles and moving, and especially didn't like being woken up so early in the morning, so she was, understandably not a very happy opposum, though she seemed more content with the situation after her shuttle ride nap, after the initial aggravation of the rude awakening, they breathed softly and blinked slowly, laying lazily across Reverie's shoulders. Morthan was standing beside them, watching the people file out of the machine before he turned to Reverie, dark cloak swishing around him and covering most of his body, blue eyes mimicking those of Reveries staring at him. He silently reached his hand out and lifted Reverie from his lazy position to his feet, Corpse perched on his shoulder darting his dark, burning gaze from person to person. Reverie filed out last behind his brother, slouchy with his hair a mess, rubbing his eyes lazily, strange-looking next to his dark, pencil straight and stoic looking brother, who walked past the onlookers, scary scythe slung across his back and black and purple cloak swishing around him but not exposing any of his body. He leads the way, and Reverie followed him silently, brain still lost in thoughts and stories, not caring about the burning sight of others.

Morthan Andreas

Morthan wasn't one for change, wasn't one for crowds or institutions, preferred time alone and learning from experience, he had a lot of experience, but someone as smart as him didn't even need school, but he knew that this academy would be safer for his brother, a safer place for them to live, get them out of the hole they resided in, and safe place for them both to explore their abilities, for neither brother needed to experience any more mistakes. So he caved, so he packed both his and Reveries bags with the few things they owned, and he awoke Reverie on the say, close to when the shuttle would be arriving, shook him away early, having had already packed his bags days before and their mother had already said her farewell, long gone that morning, and so she shook his brother awake and grasped their luggage in one hand and his brother's hand in the other, dragging the slouchy boy into the shuttle and it stopped in front of them, knowing full well that the boy would likely be out the moment they sat down, though he had promised to keep Than company for the ride. Luckily, he didn't need the company anyway, no one bothered to talk to the boy, the closest thing being the concerned looks they shot him, the ones he'd grown to ignore, the ones that didn't bother him anymore, that he'd been seeing his whole life. So luckily, Than was able to tilt his head back and lose himself in his thoughts, speaking to Corpse and studying the people on the machine clinically.

When they reached their destination, Than didn't bother waking Reverie, allowing the shake of the metal walls as kids exited excitedly toss him awake, knowing they would leave last, so they had time, and when their time came Than would just grasp pale hand in pale hand and tug his brother off the bus, just as they had entered the bus. There were peering, burning eyes, similar to that of his ravens, but in his opinion much, much worse, and he knew there were gazes on them, pulling his hood forward to hide his face and holding his small brothers hand tight, slipping past the crowd with his pulled together, strong, unbreakable stance and energy. He cared little who saw him and who didn't, he couldn't see much past his cloak hood as they saw none of him, so he simply did his best to make everyone aware to stay out of his way as he pushed past.

Yue Han The time had come when tensions around the floating city were highest. Amongst the new first years and the true ending most would be worried about new foes and old friends. Yue though was a different story, she was preoccupied with something else entirely. "Oh those two are so in love! Oh those two must of just broken up! Oh those two just started dating!" Yes for Yue who was and wasn't dating was of far more concern to her. So much so that she had even taken to stopping any first year she saw and asking if they were dating anyone. Some assuming she was hitting on them but she quickly corrected this misconception by pointing to someone else saying they'd make a perfect couple.

Xian Han While her sister was anything but worried about the truce ending, Xian couldn't be more worried. The fact she'd inevitably have to face off against her sister was scary. Not because she didn't want to fight her no, in fact Xian couldn't shake the excitement that was building in her chest. She wondered if Yue would take her seriously or hold back. If she could win or if her sister was stronger. She would just have to wait and see.

Eric and Erin Baldesion

In one of Venus' fabulous restaurants, Eric and Erin are having a nice lunch. Both of them have steak, but the difference is that the brother is eating a fillet mignon while the sister is eating a sirloin. As they eat, Erin begins a discussion. "So I heard that the academy has some fresh meat today. The boss is looking for some new muscle now that the truce is over. Wonder who's it gonna be." She spoke. "Don't know, don't care." Eric replied "The boss should be very careful with his choices though. I swear that if those newbies have no idea what they're in to..."

"Oh come on, brother. Cut them some slack. I know you don't like idiots, but I'm sure as hell think that they have a lot of potential. They just need to take some slow steps to get good, if you know what I mean right?" Erin assured, which Eric responds with a grunt. "I don't know about that, sister. Newbies are always idiots on the first day, but then they start learning until they become better. However, that just depends on the intelligent quotient of each of them, so I wouldn't expect all of them to become better. Some of them would still end up being stupid." Eric said. Erin sighs before saying "Whatever you say, Eric. Whatever you say..."

arlosk
another year... another annoying day... the boy tried to fall back to sleep but was instead woken up again by the cawing of a very very annoyed raven.. "uuug just.. please let me sleep" the man said with annoyance.. a single little horn poking out of his head... sure he was here.. but he wasn't exactly the proudest of it.. hell the anxiety got to Arlosk every day... but what else could he do? the raven began pecking him. forcing him to get up for the day... there would be a new lot of legends.. just peachy... this would be another horrible start to the year and he wasn't gonna be able to do anything about it. leaving his room.. he'd be ready to deal with whatever annoying lot showed up.
