The weight of tradition

“Are you really going to open that exception for me? You really know how to make a guy feel special” - he said in a slightly teasing tone when ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) she mentioned the pace he could practice teleporting with her - “I do appreciate it, though. And you can be sure it won’t take that long for me to ask for another ride” - the young aristocrat said, trying to sound as sincere as he could. After saying it, he observed Alirah’s mannerism, his eyes getting a bit caught up in the movement her fingers were doing, twirling her hair - “Is she being coy? Wait, no, that must be my imagination” - Charles blinked quite a few times, clearly thinking he was imagining things, focusing once again in her star-shaped pupils - “Mmmm, I see. So what you are saying is that there is no need to hug whoever you are teleporting, but you did it so to make it safer… and you needed to make it safer because you chose to teleport to the next to the light pole, in the air, instead of the ground” - as his ‘confirmation’ continued, he raised his left eyebrow more and more, his right index and hand were slightly raised up, as his finger made circular motions.

Maybe she knew where this was going, maybe she thought he was going to have a kind of angry outburst as soon as he found out the truth of it. Laughter, however, was what the purple-haired girl heard from him. It was light-hearted, the kind that someone gives when they are having fun - “I don’t think I have ever said this to anyone, but… thanks for hugging. o-ow..” - Charles chose to end with that clearly fake complain, rubbing and squeezing the back of his neck with his right hand. And, with that, ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) Azuza caught up with and chastised them for not warning her what they were going to do. The young aristocrat gave a large step sideways, away from Alirah, making a movement with his hands as if ‘introducing’ her as the sole culprit of the teleportation, letting the purple-haired girl take the flak from the worried silver-furred fox girl. While he clearly understood why the poor girl was angry and worried, he couldn't help but watch their exchange with a smirk, chuckling quite a bit. The truth, however, is that they really needed to hurry - “And explore it we shall!” - he rushed after Alirah after the tapping of his shoulder, hoping to catch up with Azuza and reach the dorms as fast as possible.

Azuza

The trek to the dorms was short due to her Quirk use. She would likely tell Charles and Alirah about her Quirk later but she'd save that for later. For now it would be better for her to just show them if they directly asked. She stopped immediately when reaching the edge of the bushes at the back of the dorms. She waited for them to catch up and when they did she pointed to a door. "That's the back door. You should be able to get to the stair case... From there your rooms should be easy for you to find. They have your names next to them. After that I recommend exiting out a window if possible. If not then come back out the back door, I'll be waiting in a tree outside the dorms on the road toward town. Don't keep me waiting too long okay? If I get the feeling you aren't coming I'm going back to my room."

After her little explanation Azuza jumped up onto a tree branch. Her tail swishing a bit as she crouched on the branch before nodding and springing off to the location she said she'd wait. A minute or two would be all it takes for her. She wasn't expecting Charles and Alirah to be as fast however so she hid herself in the trees just outside the dorms and watched for them.

(woo new pic!)

Alirah half expected Charles to outburst in a fit of frustration from what she had said prior, but instead he laughed it off. That made her feel a bit better about it, a bright grin reappeared upon her face as they walked. “That was totally a fake “ow” that you just did back there, tsk tsk.” She remarked about his very quite obvious fake pain that he vocalized about. “Anyway, you're welcome.” She said in reply to his thank you. Then she followed Azuza until they were right behind the dorms.

Alirah nodded quietly, listening to Azuza explain how to find their rooms. Then… ‘Window? Out a window again? Hmm…’ Alirah thought, tapping her chin lightly. She slid her eyes to peer at Charles. ‘But would he want to do it again so quickly?? I don’t think he would…’ After thinking on it for a bit, she went ahead of Charles, and ran to the door. “Don’t dally Charles-san! Let’s goo!” Then she went in through the door, leaving it open a bit for Charles to follow in. She sped up the steps, quickly and silently, using her “ninja” mode that she used to follow Charles in the school halls earlier that day. She didn’t want to disturb anyone that would already be at the dorms. Although she was very loud at times, she is surprisingly good at hiding her footsteps and other sounds when she needs to. She has been naturally good at these types of things, thanks to her playing hide and seek a lot with her older brother when they were younger. As well as it being taught to her by a retired pro hero, who primarily uses swift ninja-like movements to beat her opponents.

Once reaching the steps, Alirah noticed the boys and girls sides were separate. She then went along to her side, flashing her eyes at the signs on the doors in search for her name. She then saw her name and slowed down. It was the room that was 4 doors down from the other end of the hallway from the stairs that she had come up. 'Ah, so it’s here…' She took out the school ID card that was mailed to her and used it to unlock her door. Then she slid in and saw her stuff that was sent ahead. “Ahah, perfect. It’s all here!” There were a few small boxes with some of her notebooks and other items, one big box which housed some clothes. Then a box marked with “HANDLE WITH CARE, ITEMS INSIDE ARE FRAGILE” It was a black box, the only one of that color in the room and it had been placed on her bed. “Oh sweet, they arrived!” She had ordered some new and improved glow bracelets and glow sticks that were super long lasting. Once one of these babies were snapped a few times, they’d stay glowing for about 2 days! Then there were some other glow types that harvested the sun's energy to glow instead of being snapped. The good thing about these ones is that they are basically reusable. But they don’t glow for as long, only about 17 hours as opposed to two days. For quick trips Alirah prefers using these ones, however she’d have to use the other kind since it was already dark out.

Alirah skipped along over to the black box on her bed, opened it, then unzipped her backpack. She took a few of the snacks out of her backpack and put them into the mini fridge that she had requested to have. Then she took some of the long lasting glow bracelets and placed them upon her wrist, stacking them up to have about 4-6 of them on each arm. She placed a few more into her backpack, then placed some normal shaped glow sticks into her backpack. ‘Will this be enough?’ She thought for a moment. Then she eyeballed a flashlight that was also in the black box. ‘Oh this! I should bring this too just in case.’ With that, she put the flashlight into one of the front pockets in her backpack. Then she slid her backpack back onto her person and walked to the door. She eyed the rest of her room briefly, then went out the door. All of this only took about 3 minutes to do. Then she quickly walked down the hallway and went passed the window, but then back tracked a few steps and stood in front of the window. ‘I really want to teleport… But then how would Charles get down fast enough if I did it without him? Maybe if I just wait here...' Alirah decided she’d wait at the window for Charles. She thought that waiting by the window would give him the implication that she wants to teleport again with him.

The weight of tradition

The young heir crouched down, hiding himself behind the bushes, and listened to ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) Azuza’s instructions. He took a good look at the door she pointed at, taking a mental note of it. Other things he paid special attention to: they couldn’t dilly-dally for too long, otherwise the fox girl would abandon the mission, they should exit either by a window or the back door and move while making as little noise as possible. Everything pretty straight forward, besides exiting through a window. Charles wasn’t the best climber, neither was he very much of an acrobatic chap. It looked like getting in would be easier than getting out - “Well… I mean… there is a pretty quick way to get out…” - he stuck his fingers in the inner side of his collar, making his collar further loose. He then ran his fingers around the front part of his collar, redirecting his gaze towards the ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) purple-haired girl, noticing she had her sights on him - “Of course she is thinking about doing it again, isn’t she?! Mmmm…” - the young Reiss looked a bit defeated for a moment, letting a sigh escape his mouth, letting his head fall sideways. He steeled himself for the teleportation that would come later on, being beckoned by Alirah that got a pretty good head start - “I am going, Alirah-san!” - he got in standing position and rushed to the door, seeing that it was left slightly open by his escapade accomplice.

He pushed it open slowly, just enough to get through, closing it behind him. Charles had no problem locating the stairs leading to the bedrooms. Remembering the lessons of his instructor, he started to move in a whole different way. The usually loud, purposely identifiable Charles was nowhere to be seen and, while his steps weren’t inaudible, their sounds would only be picked up by ‘hearing specialists’ that were pretty close. His heart was beating pretty fast when he grabbed the railing of the stairs, looking up and noticing the girls and the boys dormitories were separated. The young heir took a moment to look at it and suddenly felt his face flushing red. He shook his head left and right to remove whatever thought got into his head, and quickly made his way to his side. Getting into the hallway, he started to quickly check the rooms in each side, looking for his name plate. It didn’t take long for him to stop in front of a room with a sign on it: ‘REISS C.’. It was the third room from the stairwell. Noticing the card reader besides it, he remembered having placed his ID CARD inside his wallet. He stuck his right hand in the side pocket of his pants, taking out his wallet from it. Opening it up, he went through the small plastic holders that is had. He went through three credit cards and his club membership card, before finally finding it. He got it out of the plastic holder with his left hand, sliding the card through the reader. With a nice BEEP sound, he heard the unlocking. The young heir put the card back in his wallet, grabbing the doorknob and turning it, entering his own room without too much ceremony and closing the door behind him.

Flipping on the light switch, he was glad to see the several boxes on it. Even better was the fact that his emperor-size bed, which basically occupied half of his bedroom and was large enough to touch both opposing walls, was in perfectly intact. Very different from the boxes that were piled up, was a rectangularly shaped object that was covered with brown paper, tied up using strings, as to not damage it. It was an object of about sixteen by twenty-four inches. Carefully, the young aristocrat undid the tied up strings, taking out the brown paper from it with patience. As he took out all the brown paper from it, he grabbed the object by the borders and took a good look at it: it was a painted portrait of himself. On it, Charles could be seen sitting down on an elegant burgundy velvet armchair. He is wearing a black suit, a dark-pink tie and black shoes. On his head, he is wearing a coronet: a type of crown used to distinguish non-king titles. It represents the Duchy of Richmond, Reiss’ family choose primary title. Both of his hands are turned upwards, resting on his lap. Each hand is also holding a coronet, the left one representing the Duchy of Lennox and the right one representing the Duchy of Gordon. His legs are crossed, his right leg going over his left leg at the height of his knee. Behind him, a fireplace can be seen and, under the chair he is sitting, a dark-red rug.

Charles was quick on fixing the portrait above the bed, having to actually get on his bed to do so. He made sure it was perfectly aligned, before he was happy with it. He kept in his mind that time was of the essence, and he couldn’t daydream, so he quickly got out from his bed and started to search what he was really after. After looking around with utmost attention, he found yet another rectangularly shaped case. There was a number lock on it, and the young aristocrat took no time spinning the numbers into the correct combination. After the numbers were aligned, there was a pretty audible ‘click’, confirming it was, indeed, open. He placed the case on top of his bed, flipping its top part and opening it. In it, there was a scabbard and a handle was sticking out of the open end. The young heir grabbed the scabbard, taking it out of the case and holding it firmly with his left hand, while his right hand grabbed the well protected handle. He moved both hands in opposite directions, revealing the sword that was being kept inside the sheath. It was a finely crafted Italian hunting sword. It didn’t, however, had a sharpened edge, and trying to attack with it would be like using a really light metal bat. And, while Charles didn’t need that object to use his quirk, he was quite a bit trained with it, being able to use it with ease to block attacks, for example. He kept holding the sword with his right hand, examining it while he turned it. Sheathing the sword once again, he fixated the scabbard to his belt, covering it with his coat. It was high time he left, so he made his way out of his room, remembering to turn off the lights and lock the door behind him.

All his preparing took no more than 4 minutes. While making his way downstairs, he saw the purple-haired girl in the distance, waiting by a window. He made his way towards her, first with a smug expression on his face - “Something tells me you want to teleport again. I understand my charm from the last time is irresistible, after all” - he shoots a full-wide smile towards her, followed by a wink. His attention was suddenly pulled to her hands and wrists. He noticed the stacks of bracelets she now were wearing - "Mmmm... what are those for? Wait... are they glow bracelets? Ahhh... artificial light sources, I see. Quite ingenious" - he praised her with as much sincerity as he could convey. He waited for her to reply and then extended his right hand towards her, palm turned upwards, offering to her - "Let's go, Alirah-san? We have a city to explore!" - the young aristocrat had an excited smile on his face and it looked like he was really looking forward to this adventure with both herself and the silver furred girl.

Looking up at the crimson draconid, ( Archdemon Archdemon ) Gary could smell fire. No... cinnamon. "Must be the old man ( Maxxob Maxxob )," he thought. He suddenly felt a hand grab his shoulder and a shiver run down his spine. Was this compassion? Or martial arts?

The old man assuaged Gary's fear of it being the latter when he asked for details of his bout with Phantom Quartz. ( SilverInu SilverInu ) Now looking at the ground, he sighed and tersely replied, "it didnt go how I'd hoped." The old man went on to tell Gary that he would be graded by Phantom Quartz and the old man. Gary oinked in surprise at the suddenly real possibility of receiving a Double F.

Gary looked in his back pack to verify that it was empty of chips and stood up to look around. He didnt see Natasha or the new kid ( Deathkitten Deathkitten ) around. Glancing at the old man's leg and then quickly looking up and back at him, Gary asked the old man, "is everybody... okay?"

His stomach then grumbled loud enough for anyone nearby to hear it.

Alirah sitting1-painteduniv-signedv2.jpg

Alirah was staring at the window when she heard Charles speaking from behind her. She turned her head around to look at him. “Charm? Irresistible?.... Pff.” She covered her mouth with her left hand to let out a very fake laugh. “Funny.” She had been sitting by the window on the steps while waiting for Charles to show up. So, she stood up, flicked some dust off of her skirt, then turned to face him. At the mention of her glow bracelets, “yes, they are glow bracelets. I like to have them in case of blackouts or if there’s no light sources where I’m at. All I gotta do is take one off and chuck it to where I want to go, then grab it and put it back on.” She nodded to his questions. “I also have a flashlight, some normal glow sticks, and a few daggers that I had in here since earlier, among other things that are in here…” She said while motioning to her backpack.

Alirah looked at Charles' hand, “So you want to teleport after all?” She gently took his hand. “Well then, let’s go meet up with Azuza-san.” She said, her face lighting up into a cute close eyed smile. Alirah then turned her head to look out the window. After examining the outside, she saw a light about a 4th of the way to the road, and then saw even further the street lights on the road, however they were semi-obscured by trees.“I believe this trip will take 2 teleports to get to Azuza-san. She said she’s by the road in a tree. Right now there’s some trees in the way of the street lights. I’m gonna have to go for a light that’s a bit closer to get to the ground first. So please prepare yourself, Charles-san.” Alirah tightened her grip on his hand, then counted down to give him some time to prepare for the teleportation. “Okay, teleporting in 3, 2, and 1.” On what would be 0, they teleported to the light that Alirah mentioned they would go to first. The light in question was a light fixated onto a fence that lined a garden, with more lights around it. They had stayed completely grounded the whole time, still in the same position from when they started. She turned to look at Charles. “Now we go again, after this we’ll be where Azuza-san is waiting.” She turned her head back towards the road and was able to see the streetlights from their current position. She counted down again, “In 3, 2, and 1.”

Then bam, in the blink of an eye, they appeared in the glow of the streetlight. Alirah peered her eyes around and sure enough, Azuza was there in a tree above Charles and herself. Since they teleported twice, and she talked in between to give Charles a chance to breathe, it took about a minute to get there. She then turned to Charles, noticing she was still gripping his hand. She let go immediately and said, “Sorry bout’ that. Did I squeeze your hand too hard?” She was concerned because she usually has quite a strong grip due to her primary weapon being a metal baseball bat. Then she saw the sword that he had under his coat. “Also, what is that item? A sword? Does that have to do with your quirk?” Alirah looked at him curiously, she clearly wanted to know what his quirk was and how it worked by the look on her face. She was obviously not winded by the teleporting they just did some seconds prior.

The weight of tradition

His face tensed up slightly as soon as she said they would need to teleport two times to reach their target destination, following suit and also looking outside through the window. He only hoped he could keep his dignity, and the contents of his stomach, intact. The young heir nodded, showing he was prepared for the trip they were about to take. He slowed down his breathing when she started the countdown, gripping her hand back. His face showed a serious expression, as if he was concentrating on what was about to come. When the ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) purple-haired reached one, he braced himself, gritting his teeth against each other. The first ‘jump’ was better than the first experience he had, while it still turned his stomach. The young Reiss let out all the air from his lungs, a few droplets of sweat formed on his forehead - “[ENG]Once more unto the breach my friends!” - he quoted King Henry, forcing a smile towards the purple-haired girl. Charles once again slowed down his breathing when she started to countdown, mentally preparing himself for the next jump.

Suddenly, they were further away, now near the spot they are supposed to meet the ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) fox girl. The young aristocrat was biting his lips at the end of the last ‘jump’, doing his best to grin and bear it. That experience was really taxing on him, even though Alirah had done it in, what he believed, was the most gentle way possible. At the very least, the whiplash of these jumps were not painful as the very first one, but it would still hurt in the morning - “Hmmm?” - he had a bit of a questioning face when the purple-haired girl pulled her hand away. The feeling was strange, as if he had lost something - “It is quite alright, Alirah-san. You didn’t hurt my hand. I hope I didn’t hurt yours…” - unconsciously, he ended up holding her hand with a reasonable girp as well. With each passing moment, he felt better from his ‘teleportation sickness’, going back to his usual expression. As the purple-haired girl asked about his sword, Charles smiled, visibly happy that she was interested in it.

He got a bit of space before he started any demonstration, walking back a few steps from her. He then held the top part of the scabbard with his left hand, as it was positioned on his left side. His right hand moved to the handle, getting a nice grip on it. His sword was drawn without making any sound and he held it expertly. The artificial source of light was reflecting on it, making it seem like the blade was special - “I don’t need it per say to use my quirk. I could also use it with a sheet of paper, a business card, and a plastic knife, for example. Anything with an edge” - he held the dull blade forward, away from her still. It then changed colors, adopting a burning crimson one - “My quirk allows me to cut through anything and, yet, nothing is damaged” - it was time to put his quirk into practice. The young heir extended his left arm towards her, pulling the sleeve of both his coat and shirt so as to not get in the way. With an almost unseeable flick of his right wrist, the sword he was holding made a quick 360 degrees turn, ‘chopping’ his left hand clean at the height of the wrist. His hand fell on the ground, supporting itself as if it was a spider, moving towards her for a bit, while the young heir kept his sights on the purple-haired girl, analyzing her facial expressions about his quirk - “I can move it just as if it was still connected to my arm. And it is painless to boot” - if Alirah tried to take a look at either the cut area on his wrist or the hand itself, she wouldn’t see anything. There was a dark void that spiraled - “What do you think?” - he asked curiously, a bit nervous about what would be her opinion of it. It wasn’t uncommon for people that got to know it to be frightened at first.

Azuza

Relaxing in the tree waiting for them was quiet and peaceful. The sounds of the city were much easier to hear from here. They however were interrupted by Alirah and Charles sudden arrival. Azuza hopped down from the tree and landed next to Charles hand that he removed. It began to walk its way toward Alirah which was rather amusing to look at. This however would be a perfect time to show what she could do.

"Oh so we are sharing what our quirks do? Well... Mine is called Fox Fade. At least that's the name I came up with for it... They called it something long and overly complicated when I showed them how it worked." She snapped her fingers and she flicked her wrist. The motion brought Charles' hand to hers grabbing it by the back. "My Quirk is a spacial bubble... Or something really complicated, to be honest I don't know all the details but from how I've always used it upon activation the space in my bubble starts to shift and distort, then I use this to increase my movement and maximize my strength by compounding the space and using it like a rubber band pulling, stretching, and releasing it behind my strikes. Course that's the way I typically use it. There is other stuff I could do with it, like intensify gravity but... That's a bit too dangerous... My body can't handle that for too long."

She explained by using Charles hand as a demonstration tool having it move back and forth between her hands without her even touching it then going up and down in a yo-yo like motion. "If I concentrate I can use my Quirk without moving my hands but it's a lot easier if I do. Right now..." She got a mischievious smile and looked at them both, "My bubble spans 4 feet centered away from me. So..." She gestured both her hands, one toward each of them and picked them both up off the ground slightly. "If you ever want to feel like your weightless... This is the way to do it. I can pick up almost anything in my bubble unless that thing has its own gravitation... Something one of the scientists said about countering gravitational pulls and my power would controdict itself? Dunno the exact details but I can't."

Azuza then moved Charles' hand back to his arm putting it where it's supposed to be connected to him and setting them both down.

"Now that we've spent a little time figuring things out about one another's quirks... We should get going... I'll show you around to the best of my ability." She began to walk towards the town going at a normal walking pace waving her hands a bit as she passed the trees making the limbs shake a bit.

Alirah sitting1-painteduniv-signedv2.jpg

“Oh, don’t worry my hand is fine, more than fine even!” Alirah said, she twirled her hand around in the air as she spoke. True his grip was also similar to hers, but it was warm and cozy. Alirah watched Charles fascinatedly as he pulled out his sword. Then he proceeded to explain his quirk. She listened patiently, and nodded along with his explanation. Then he cut his hand off, and it crawled on the ground. Any usual old person would probably be freaked out by the fact that he just dismembered himself and now had an appendage crawling on the ground. This wasn’t the case with Alirah though. She crouched down and looked at Charles’ hand that was now on the ground. “Oh wow, that’s so cool, Charles-san! I love it!!” She went and touched the hand that was crawling along on the ground. “So can you still feel this? Since it’s still “connected” as you said.” She asked while petting the hand lightly.

Then Azuza came and interrupted before Charles could answer, taking the hand away. Alirah then had a slight look of visual disappointment, then she went back to her usual smile only a moment later and stood up, turning her head over her shoulder towards Auzuza. Then Azuza started explaining her quirk, to which Alirah listened only slightly. Her eyes were staring at the hand still. Then she broke away for a moment to make a comment on Azuza’s quirk. “Ah so it’s like a space bubble that you can manipulate? That’s cool!” She tapped her chin and thought, ‘not as fascinating as Charles’ quirk though…’ She then watched as Azuza tossed Charles’ still dismembered hand about. Her eyes fixated back onto the hand, looking concerned. ‘Is she going to stop soon? What if she drops it, he’ll feel that right?’ Then at the end of her thought train, she suddenly got lifted into the air by Azuza. “o-Oh?” Alirah was quite surprised. She hadn’t really been paying attention, as she was too focused on the hand to realize that Azuza was going to lift them out of the air. Alirah gathered herself, and then thought of something to say, “Ah, I don't really care about feeling weightless. Having weight while falling adds more tension in my opinion. A lot of the time when I am using my quirk, I am falling but then I teleport before I would hit the ground. It’s more thrilling that way!” She watched as Azuza then started forwards. Alirah would then wait for Charles before continuing forward, he still had to answer her question she asked before Azuza jumped in.

Asuka groaned though she did not do much fighting against the doc in the box she was still tired since she was not use to this but it was a learning curve that she would have to deal with. She was so glad that the next day was going to be a day off to give them a chance to recover that also would give her the chance to finish with her dorm room as well as get a chance to chat with some of the other students that she had yet to meet in her class. Looking down she let her eyes roam the ground as she flew closer to dorms to eye out a place she could land. She was still debating weather or not to talk with IQ about her score or wait until Monday so all that she had do was go in eat something then go to bed. Finding a good place she lands lightly with a slight stumble as she flared out her wings to maintain her balance to prevent herself from toppling over. Once she knew she was stable she folded her wings to rest against her back until she had a chance to preen them. Days like today made her wish she did not have a bird mutation quirk since it took a bit more effort to keep her feathers healthy so that she could use them.

Opening the door she walked in and headed for the canteen to find something to munch on other than the sucker she had gotten from the doc. Candy was good and all but she needed a healthy meal to keep her energy up at this point in time she was almost tempted to leave the school grounds to go eat at a restaurant since she did not feel like cooking at the moment. Walking over to one of the tables she flopped down in to one of the chairs for the time being.

The weight of tradition

An expression of what could only be described as relief washed over Charles’ face when the ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) purple-haired girl showed a positive response to his quirk, which in turn became a pretty happy one - “Thank you! I am glad you liked it!” - he moved his hand closer to her as she crouched down. Controlling a disjointed appendage took quite a bit of practice, both from the view point and also de movement itself. Just as she touched his dismembered hand, petted it lightly afterwards, his cheeks flushed into a lighter crimson color and the hairs of his neck stood up a bit. At that moment, he was happy there was a bit of distance between them, lest she thought he was sick or something similar. Still with his gaze locked on her, he swallowed hard and started to answer her - “Well, you see…”

( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) Azuza crashed the party, landing just beside his hand. He sighed with relief under his breath. He ought to learn to control himself better. The feeling of something unseen grabbing his hand from its back was a bit unnerving. He kept his fingers from moving, however, turning himself towards the fox girl and listening to her explanation - “A rubber band… mmm…” - “So, she modifies space to better use it? Actually using it to her advantage?” - while he wondered about her quirk, she used his hand to demonstrate it. The movements she was doing with it, from one hand to the other and then up and down as a yo-yo got him a bit worried, looking at it intently - “W-woah!” - the young heir exclaimed, feeling himself being lifted from the ground. Instinctively, he tried to keep his balance, moving his upper body forward and backwards to keep himself from falling - “So you can’t pick up things that are too heavy?” - the young aristocrat asked when the silver-furred girl mentioned her inability to tamper with objects that have their own gravitational fields.

He was quite relieved when he was put back on the ground again and his hand returned to himself. He thought Azuza’s quirk was that animalistic instinct she had shown earlier when trying to find the most optimal route for them to reach the dormitory. Charles, however, couldn’t be more wrong about it. His first impression of her quirk it was that it felt more… complete? It was in a total different level of his own, not really needing much of a complementation. To use his effectively, he had no other choice but to be creative. He feels exactly the same about Alirah’s quirk. The idea of using glow bangles to supplement her quirk and make sure she is always able to teleport was nothing short of impressive. When Fox Fade stopped having an effect on them, his hand went in a free fall towards the ground. The edge of the sword, for a moment, shone with a vibrant crimson colour and his hand snapped back into the stump, instantly appearing back to where it was supposed to be. The fox girl was correct in putting it back in place, but it also needed to be held together in a slight different angle her quirk was holding it.

With his hand back in place, he opened and close it a few times, twirling his hand. While he did it, he looked at his hand and his mind raced back to instants prior to Azuza’s arrival. The young Reiss cleared his throat, seeing the silver-furred girl not wasting any time and already taking point. His attention shifted from the back of the small girl to the purple-haired one, that seemed to be waiting for him - “Ah… oh, right. Yes, the owner can fully feel the detached limbs. It is as if it had never been disconnected” - the usage of the word ‘owner’ and talking about in third person, instead of first, was on purpose - “Let's continue?” - he asked, still quite excited with their trip to the town, keeping the pace to walk beside Alirah.

Azuza
Local: In Town

Now from her time out here the day before she really only knew part of the city. The landmarks she talked about, they were... Sweets shops. It was made extremely apparent that she loves bakeries and sweets shops. The only actual landmarks that she knew was a fountain, and a memorial to fallen heroes that was in the town. She made sure to associate the locations with their best or most well known food stuff. Unorthodox yes, but if you knew a place by its food and smells you'll never be lost. Another piece of her animal side taking presidency over her human side this time without her knowledge. During the tour she gave, she made sure to stop and get a few sample treats for her new friends. She wasnt quite sure what they would like, so she got them what the shop was best known for and she split it so they could share. If it was small already shed just get three. Fortunely for the Fox girl all of the places were pretty cheap for how good the stuff was.

"Okay, this is the last place. This is a lot different from most of the places we were at." Azuza gestured to the place to her right as she stopped. "This, this is Ramen Heaven... You order ramen from here you won't be disappointed. The bowls are huge, and don't say that it's cause I'm small. They are bigger than any bowls around almost two times as big." To be honest this place looked like a hole in the wall shop, nothing particularly special about it. "My mom told me about this place. Humble on the outside, best ramen ever inside. This place is a local hot spot for lunch and dinner but it doesn't seem to be open right now..." She looked at the closed sign a bit disappointed. "Oh well, the reason this shop is so important other than it's huge ramen bowls is it's location. Down each of the alleys this hole in the wall shop lead to hero agency. So if you find yourself here, you can get to somewhere familiar or where you can receive help quick. By running in any direction." She explained taking a seat on an old stone bench. "I couldn't tell you which agency is in which direction but they are there. That being said, this concludes Azuza's grand tour. I hope you enjoyed it and have at least somewhat of an understanding of the layout."

Alirah listened as Charles then proceeded to say that any living thing that he uses his quirk on will still feel. "Hmm…that's pretty interesting… So you felt it when I pet your hand earlier…" She was tapping her chin, thinking of all of the uses that Charles' quirk had. She turned around to face him while walking, and continued while walking backwards. "Charles-San, your quirk is pretty great!" She gave him a thumbs up with her right hand and winked playfully. Then She twirled back around to continue to walk beside him with Azuza leading the way in front.

Alirah couldn't help but notice that Azuza seemed to only be going off of places that sell food during the little tour. Which in Alirah's opinion, is understandable. Alirah enjoys food too, just as long as it's healthy. She will eat sweets however she always feels the need to run laps after eating a single cookie. And with the sheer amount of places that happened to be bakeries that they went by Alirah went up and tapped Azuza on the shoulder and said, "Wow you must have a massive sweet tooth huh? Nothing wrong with that but, I honestly don't see myself going to any of these places." Once they got to the ramen shop however, Alirah would then run up to the shop and stare into the inside. Oh how she loves fresh ramen. "Not open right now? Awe…" Alirah then turned around to look at both Charles and Azuza. The only way to describe her face is that of a sad puppy pleading for their owners affection. Only for ramen would she ever make such a pout. Alirah then walked over and grabbed Azuza's right hand with both of hers. "Azuza-san… Are there any good ramen places that are open for dinner?"

“Did… did she notice anything?” - he thought to himself when ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) Alirah confirmed out loud what he had said previously. Charles resigned a bit, clearing his throat and said, in a friendly but usual tone, simulating it as good as he could - “Yes, I did feel every bit of it” - he nodded a few times. The young Reiss smiled as she complimented his quirk, returning her a smile - “Thank you, Alirah-san! Yours and Azuza’s are incredible!” - his opinion of the purple-haired girl had changed dramatically since he had met her. He thought she would be a contender at first, but now thought of her as a friend. The same could be said about the ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) fox girl. She had displayed incredible treatment of him and went as far as to be up to show them around. While being silent, he was thrown into an inner struggle. Should he keep his guard up, because of how long they had known each other? Or should he already relax? He didn’t know at that exact moment, but he would make a decision at the end of the tour.

Being taken to so many places that served such a variety of food was not bad in the young heir’s book. Actually, much on the contrary. He had never had the food he was trying during the tour. Most of his life was kept under a strict control, and his eating habits were no different - “Mmmmm… this is delicious!” - the young aristocrat said, while eating one of the treats. However, there was something that left a real poor taste in his mouth: the silver-furred girl was paying for the treats. It simply didn’t feel right, but he knew better than to just cut her off and offer to pay - “I never had any of these!” - he commented, sticking a takoyaki in his mouth. It looked like the purple-haired girl was not a fan of those treats they were having. The ramen shop however, was a totally different experience. So it was a great point to receive help, if one needed because of the Hero Agencies that were nearby. Charles made a mental note of it, in case he ever needs it. What got even more his attention, was how much Alirah wanted ramen. The look on her face… the way she talked with Azuza, it was clear: she needed ramen. And, to be perfect honest, he hadn’t had ramen in a long time, and he doubted it would be as authentic as eating it while in Japan - “Is it there, Azuza-san? It is going to be my treat” - he tried to reinforce Alirah’s question, while making an offer.

“Hey, hey, why that long face? Of course it didn’t go as you hoped, it never does. Whenever I had started my hero career, I also made all sorts of predictions and had all sorts of hopes about how things would go. It never did. This activity was to get your feet in the water for the first time or, at least, that is exactly how I am going to grade my participants” - the old man said that and gave ( BigManHimself BigManHimself ) Gary a kind smile. They did the best they could with the training they had at the moment that, officially, was none. Sure, some students were there with a bigger head-start than others, but the activity had the same objective for all students.

He saw the worry on the boar-boy’s face, looking around, probably searching for his friends - “Oh, don’t worry, don’t worry! Everyone is okay! I left all of them in the hands of the very competent Dr. James Shikaru. And seeing that James-san is over there, I can only assume that both of them are up and about already” - he finished, pointing at ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) James who, at the moment, was talking with his sister. The old man heard the loud grumble of Gary’s stomach. It didn’t take long for a second loud grumble, even louder than the one produced by the boar-boy, to be produced, now coming from the bald hero’s stomach. Gao started to laugh in a loud voice, looking at the boy - “I guess you aren’t the only one that is hungry. Mmmmm… I wonder if they are already serving dinner at the cafeteria. I am pretty sure they are… but…” - he looked at his own, bare chest. He couldn’t go there without his shirt on. Actually, he should have gone after a replacement yu-fi already. He kept quite a few spare pairs at the teacher’s lounge, in case of an emergency, such as this one - “Say, do you want to head to the cafeteria? I just need to make a quick visit to the teacher’s lounge and get a new uniform” - he waited for the boy’s answer. Indeed, Gao thought it could be a good idea to mingle with the future heroes, to know more about them.

Azuza hummed, it seemed like they had a great time and her plan to make friends worked out more or less. Charles responded positively to the food she showed him. Alirah not being a fan of sweet stuff was a bit of a screwball that she didn't expect. What kind of girl doesn't crave sweets? It's a good thing her mom told her about this ramen place. Alirah making a sad puppy face was rather humorous to Azuza. She had to hold in a laugh as she was questioned by the girl who grabbed hold of her hand asking about where they could find ramen. Charles was interested too and was offering to pay as well.

She had to think for a moment so she brought her left hand which was unoccupied to her tail, which made its own way into her lap. She petted her own tail for a few moments. "Ummm I can think of one or two on the way back to the school... Curfew will be soon so I think the best one to go to would be..." Removing her hand from her tail she pointed down an ally to her left. "If we go that way... There is a ramen shop that lines up with the school's location. Once we eat we should head back though, it will be curfew soon after we finish."

IQ grunted a bit as he adjusted himself, the static feeling in his body slowly fading...definitely needed to apply more insulation material to his uniform. As Bryn knelt down for the selfie IQ held up two fingers in a 'peace' sign to show it was all in good fun, even with his glasses somewhat askew at the moment. "Well done, to the both of you. You earned that victory, fair and square. I'd love to go over the notes you have with you, I might have some input to offer." IQ forced himself upright, obviously favoring one leg over the other as he started towards Bryn's mech, grabbing his staff and using it as a walking stick. Alirah was proud of herself. She felt like it was time to officially say Charles was her friend, although they have only known each other for a few hours by this point, she somehow felt as if she had known him for a long time already. There hasn't been anyone that has made her feel this way before. Usually it takes a good week or two to finally decide someone was to be considered a friend for Alirah. For some reason Charles was different. Of course she somewhat considered Azuza as a friend as well by now, but the feeling between them was different than with Charles. Alirah couldn't quite put her finger on it. She shrugged it off though and took out a glow stick that was attatched to a key chain, then she started to twirl it around.

Nonetheless, Alirah was able to make some friends just as her Granny told her to do! Although it was just Charles and Azuza for now, at least she had the two of them as friends. Now she can call her Granny later and talk about her friends. Just the thought of that made Alirah feel all giddy inside. And now they were going to eat some ramen for dinner! What a perfect way to end the night. To solidify that even further, Charles made a decision to pay for the meal that they would have. Alirah isn’t very used to people paying for her as she usually makes her own money and prefers to take it upon herself to pay for her own things whenever she’s out with friends… But she figured Charles would be adamant about paying seeing how Azuza has been paying for everything up to this point. This didn’t sit right with Alirah. Azuza basically didn’t even give Alirah a chance to pay earlier. She felt like it had to be equal… “Hey hey, after the ramen maybe I can buy you guys some little gifts? To celebrate our friendship?? Please? I want to at least buy something for you guys since you have been paying for everything up to now....” She had stopped twirling the glowstick and was now seen looking down at it, fiddling with it while speaking. She then looked back up at the mention of curfew. ‘Oh we have a curfew here?’ She had forgotten about that part. If she wanted to be able to get them any gifts and or souvenirs they had to be quick about it. “Alright then let’s hop to it then Azuza-san! Lead the way!”

“Remember, you are moving to a foreign land. While we teach that our trust is only with family, you will have to find those you can trust, as it is impossible to stand alone. Use your best judgement, just like I have taught you” - the conversation he had with his father a week prior to leaving England echoed in his head, his voice vivid in his memory. He considered the task given by his father already completed. The young aristocrat found it really curious how well he had hit with the ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) purple-haired girl in such a short time. That was the first time something like that had happened to him. Maybe it was because, up to that point, all his interactions had a reasoning behind it. There, with both Azuza and Alirah, there was nothing, but the real desire to make friends. And, while neither of them appeared to be in the same social category as him, they felt like his equals - “They don’t feel like it. They are” - he corrected himself, deciding to trust them.

And it appeared they would, indeed, have ramen for dinner, thanks to the silver-furred girl. Charles opened a large smile, from side to side, seeing that Alirah was happy to have the dinner as she so much wanted. When the purple-haired girl asked about buying them gifts, the young Reiss nodded without a second thought - “Of course you can. After all, it isn’t always that we met people that we hit off so well, right Azuza-san?” - he turned to the ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) fox girl as she petted her own tail. He grabbed his bolo necktie with his left hand, tightening up a bit, closing the collar of his shirt. He looked none-too pleased with the mention of curfew. He sulked quite a bit, but thinking again, that was pretty normal. He had curfews back in England and, one would assume to protect students, they would also have while training to be heroes. After all, UA was still responsible for them - “We have to rush if we don’t want to probably end with a disciplinary action! Show us the way to the noodly goodness, Azusa-san!” - he exclaimed, appearing to be quite a bit fired up with the idea.

Azuza
Location: Heading To The Noodly Goodness

They really were something, the two people Azuza met today. If it wasn't for the fact she was in detention earlier she never would have met such great people. She might have to thank IQ later for giving her that stupid essay on ethics. It was at this moment she remembered that it wasn't only a detention she was issued... She was also issued a form of house arrest. She wasn't supposed to leave the school. This may get her into more trouble, but right now, she was going to enjoy the time she was granted with good people over some good food. Sometimes getting in trouble for a simple thing, instead of a complicated mess is worth it in the end.

It took a moment for her to get up and her tail swished a bit at the prospect of food. "Well, I don't know if we will have time to stop anywhere else today... but I'd more than welcome a gift of some sort tomorrow. You'll have a lot more time to think about what to get." She smiled at Alirah and stretched, "So I hope you don't mind a four hundred meter dash to get to the ramen shop." She made sure to start stretching and while it made her uniform a bit unkempt it looked a lot more natural that way. Keeping her form she crouched and stretched her legs and then bounced back up on the balls of her feet a few times. "It would be best to limber up so you don't pull a muscle."

She made sure to wait a moment for them to get comfortable and warmed up if they were going to. She then got into a sprinters set, tips of her fingers on the ground her feet set about shoulder width, her right foot ahead of her left her back straight and her tail swishing a bit. "If we wanna enjoy our food then we should work for it right?" A big smile is plastered on her face as she launched from her spot like a tiny silver bullet.

Four hundred meters in just under a minute and fifteen seconds, was nothing but pure adrenaline for Azuza but she made sure to slow up a bit to make sure that Charles and Alirah kept up and didn't get lost. Sure it was a straight shot but still it wouldn't be good for them to get separated.

Upon arrival there wasn't much to the place. It was a ramen stand, a small place with a few stools in front appropriately named Noodly Goodness. Azuza didn't say a word even with the irony of what Charles said earlier. Her smile at this point was a bit smug as she pointed up at the name of the place.

Alirah Hoshino - status graphicv2.png

“Ah, so it’s too late for gifts tonight?” Alirah looked a bit downtrodden for a moment. I wanted them for tonight though…. But I guess she’s right..’ Alirah wasn’t even sure of what she would get for them, but it would most likely be something that sort of matches together for all 3 of them. Something like matching key-chains of some sort. She then went back to her usual smiley expression. “Well… that’s okay then. Wouldn’t want to break the curfew!” Then she heard that they had to run to the ramen shop… ‘should I teleport again?...’ She looked at Charles slightly from the corner of her eyes, then figured he’s probably had enough of that for today. ‘Hmm… tomorrow maybe...’ “Charles-san, let’s run this time, yeah?” As she said that, she was already bending over to touch her toes. Then she stretched out her legs, did 2 squats and was ready to run. “Come onnn, it’s ramen time!” Then she dashed off after Azuza, making sure to keep a steady pace for Charles to catch up.

Alirah arrived right behind Azuza, about another minute later. She was panting quite a bit to catch her breath. In between breaths of air she then said, “Well - at least - I got - a workout.” After taking in one big deep breath she was fully calmed down. She noticed the name of the place, was nearly, if not exactly the same as what Charles had said just moments prior. One would hear the smallest giggle come out of her mouth the moment she looked up at the sign. Then she pivoted around to face Charles. “Charles-san, since you are ordering for us, I’d like a shoyu ramen please. With one veggie egg roll on the side. Thank you!” Alirah then went to sit down at one of the stools once she told Charles what she wanted. Then she took the glow stick from earlier and spun it around in little circles again while waiting for the food.

The weight of tradition

It seems like they wouldn’t be getting their gifts that night. He felt a slightly sad about it, because of the feeling behind the gift: to cement their newly acquired friendship. However, he did understand that it wouldn’t be practical to risk breaking curfew for it. And, just as the ( Absollover77 Absollover77 ) silver-furred girl had pointed out, ( MisoraUni MisoraUni ) Alirah would have more time to think about what gift would bind them together. And then, Azuza made a challenge: they would have a small competition to see who would arrive first at the ramen shop. Charles made a total porker face. He took time to analyse both girls again from top to bottom. The fox girl clearly had some animalistic instincts, and he doubted her speed would be comparable to an average Joe. And the purple-haired girl didn’t look like a pushover either, and he was sure he would be hard to even keep up with them. But that was a ‘do or die’ situation, wasn’t it? Charles steeled himself, already raising his knees and holding them, one at the time, close to his chest even more Alirah suggested how they would get going to the shop - “I wouldn’t have it any other way, Alirah-san!” - he smirked, with a defiant expression.

And he dashed, as soon as Azuza gave the signal. He pushed himself, taking that competition quite seriously and, as much as he tried, he didn’t manage to be first, but he wasn’t that far from Alirah. When they got to the shop, the young aristocrat stopped, putting both of his hands on top of his knees and taking long and deep breaths, trying to recover his stamina - “It was more than I had in quite a bit!” - he said, still looking downwards, trying to get his breath. After two minutes or so, he went back to normal. Look upwards, he saw the name of the ramen shop. He opened his mouth in surprise, pointing at the sign. How was something like that possible? He was amazed by the chance of it, and only was brought to himself when he noticed the star-shaped pupils looking at him. He paid attention to her order and nodded quite a few times - “I got you, Ali-chan. Mmmm… you look like you could go for a beef bowl, Zuzu. I will be right back” - the young Reiss said that, walking over to the counter to make their order. Those nicknames came out naturally, and it didn’t look like he had even noticed it. After ordering, paying for it and directing them to where they were, Charles sat on a stool between both Alirah and Azuza, waiting for his own beef bowl eagerly.

Azuza
Location: Nommin noodles w/ Friends.

'Zuzu huh...' Azuza thought as she took her seat to the left of Charles as she awaited her bowl her ears twitched as she thought about this. Charles already desided to use a nickname for her. It seemed only right that she figure one out for him to... As the first one to call her such he should have a special one. Both of them deserved that much for putting up with her being a bit selfish with them today and dragging them around. She should pick Alirah's first it would seem fair to do that considering she had to really think hard about Charles'. However, she wasn't sure if Alirah was okay with something like that. So maybe she should give Charles his first... His Quirk was pretty cool... He can cut stuff and then put it back together... She was stumped for a bit until her ears picked up the chopping of the noodles before they were put in the water.

"Charles since you used a nickname that means I get to choose one for me to call you now." She smiled as she looked up at him due to her short stature she did have to in fact look up. "Imma call you Kiru. It means cut. I think it's perfect just for a noble gentleman to cut in and steal the show. What do you think?"

Before Charles could answer, their bowls were put in front of them. "Woo, chow time!" the foxes attention was immediately diverted the moment the food was put in front of her. She picked up her chop sticks and put them between her hands as she said, "Thanks for the food." Then digging in efficiency and surprisingly well mannored. Even at the speed she was eating she didn't get a single drop of anything on the table. The slurping however, was likely something Charles wasn't used to, her chewing was completely quiet. Her tail was wagging like a happy dog's who just get fed.

Alirah Hoshino - status graphicv2 (2).png

‘Ali-chan? Wh-why is it so cute sounding?’ For only a swift moment Alirah’s cheeks flushed slightly as Charles referred to her with that nickname. She then eyed him curiously a few seconds later. ‘Well if he’s calling me that.. Then..’ Alirah looked at her glow stick and giggled to herself. Then she looked back to him, turning her head towards him completely this time with the intention of calling him something equally cute. “So, Chuu-chan~~ Just curious, but do you perhaps like stuffed animals?” Alirah was already wondering what type of keychain he’d like. ‘Or would he want a mini sword one instead? Hmm that might work better actually…’ She continued to think about what he may want while waiting for her noodles to be done. And of course what to get for Azuza? Maybe a little fox plush keychain? Hmm… ‘she should embrace her animal side rather than shy away from it! That’s a perfect idea.’ Alirah nodded to herself.

Only moments later Alirah watched as her bowl of ramen plus egg roll was placed in front of her. There are a few things Alirah does before eating a good meal. First she put her hands together and said “Thank you for the meal.” Then before even eating anything, she sniffed it to let the aroma of the ramen dance around in her nose. Then she broke apart the bamboo chopsticks and with perfect chopstick etiquette, broke into the bowl of ramen. She had a lot of traditional Japanese food growing up at home because her Dad wanted her to be proud of her Japanese heritage. Her Dad always says that her being born in Australia doesn’t make her any less Japanese. So by nature, she holds her chopsticks with natural ease. Alirah likes to savor good food, so she took to eating her ramen nice and slowly, while every once in a while eating some of the egg roll until it was gone. Then of course once the noodles and meat were completely slurped, she tipped the bowl into her mouth to drink the rest of the broth. “Make sure you eat it all Chuu-chan! Including the broth like I did, see~” She said towards Charles, pointing at her now empty bowl. She had completely cleaned it out. She looked over to Azuza who also seemed to have enjoyed her bowl, her tail swishing was very cute. Alirah couldn’t help but pat Azuza on the head lightly with her left hand in that moment. “Zuzu-chan, you are so adorable, you know that?” Alirah gave Azuza a bright toothy smile while still patting her head for a minute or two. Then she took both of her hands and rested her chin on them while waiting for her food to settle.
