So What’s This Story About?
The year is x780. Guild life goes on as it has for the past years. Members carry out their missions with excitement or boredom depending on the mission - as they usually would. Tension between Fairy Tail and Raven Tail seems to have come to a momentary calm in which the two guilds have simply agreed to avoid one another.

Current eyes watch three primary missions. Royce Obertuck - an S-Class criminal and former Raven Tail guildmaster - is being transferred to a higher security prison after multiple escape attempts; this transfer is one giant opportunity though. The question remains… who is lurking in the shadows to take advantage of it? Liam Portian - a scientist working in magic expansion - seeks to study a meteor that recently crashed. People have been disappearing near it, though. Can mages help him get his hands on it? More importantly, what else will they discover? Last, but not least, a demon book has been stolen. That’s never a good thing. Who runs with Book of Vongraw? What might they unleash and who might also seek these treasures?

These fates all draw nearer.

Something is coming, though. Can the world really expect to stay this calm when a solar eclipse - the first in centuries - hangs overhead? One thing is for sure: villains are not planning on allowing this calm to last.

Most importantly, will Fairy Tail be strong enough to face what’s coming? And will the other guilds be ready to aid them? Can the other guilds even afford not to?

Fates are eclipsing. The moon could very well darken them forever.

Side Adventures
What are side adventures?
That’s a very good question. Side adventures are a unique aspect of this roleplay in that they’re unlike things at least I myself have seen in many other roleplays on RpNation. They’re self-guided - meaning there is no overarching plot put together by the GM (unless it’s a GM’s side adventure) - and they create an opportunity for players to develop their characters the way they want to develop them. They give players an opportunity to create and control villains unique to their character’s developmental needs. Another benefit of side adventures is that they can run alongside Main Story arcs - if players jump in late or simply don’t want to participate in the main story, side adventures are an option.

There are two types of side adventures. There is a historical side adventure. This is a side adventure which happened prior to the start of the roleplay. There is a current side adventure. These side adventures are running within the same timeframe as the current missions and/or the current main story arc.

Side Adventures have a few rules and restrictions.
  • Each character can only be in one side adventure at a time (regardless of the type of side adventure).

  • Each side adventure may only have a maximum of three players involved in it. There is no cap on the number of characters that they can have involved, though.

  • Any NPC guild mages and any NPC magical villains created for the side adventure must be approved by a GM prior to their use in the side adventure.

  • Any villain you create must be “defeated” within the span of the side adventure. Defeated can mean killed, turned into a good guy, or arrested or anything else that eliminates them as a threat.

  • If your character is in a current side adventure (meaning it’s happening at the current IC time), then they cannot participate in the guild halls or any missions simultaneously.

  • Historical side adventures must have taken place before the year x780. You can be writing a historical side adventure and simultaneously be in active missions or guild hall threads.

  • Please note that side adventures should take more than one post. If the side adventure is going to be a single post or a single collaborative post, it should go in Brief Histories - not in side adventures.

  • If you would like a guildmaster to be involved in your side adventure, that is possible. Please ask the GM in charge of the guildmaster before filling out your application, though.

  • Post all applications here in this thread.

Title: To Form A Contract: Storybook Summon Celty.

What is going to happen? While walking around Magnolia, Skylar passes by a mansion and, by looking through one of the windows, witnesses a man beating a Storybook Summon: Celty, daughter of the Headless Horseman. The summon can't talk verbally, but Celty spots Skylar and Skylar feels like the summon is pleading for her help.

Skylar is spotted by the man and sends some henchmen after her. After defeating them, Skylar makes her way back toward the mansion, breaks in, and begins to look for the storybook that houses Celty. Not knowing exactly who the summon is supposed to be makes things difficult though. Skylar finds documents detailing a bank heist Celty is supposed to pull off for her gangster master instead. (The money from the bank heist is supposed to fund the gangster boss' magical crime organization, helping out with the transition toward "the big time.")

The boss and henchmen find Skylar. Celty is summoned and fights Skylar. The henchmen help out in the fight, making the fight more underhanded and requiring Skylar's storybook summons to step in to make the playing field more even. The boss notices that Celty is "pulling her punches" in her fight with Skylar and summons his contract to remind Celty who her boss is. Humpty Dumpty shoots a flaming egg at the contract, burning it to ash. Now free from her contract, Celty uses her remaining magic to stick around and ensure that the Rune Knights capture the gangsters. Celty's book is retrieved and Skylar forms a contract with the headless Storybook Summon as the Rune Knights are hauling the gangsters away.

What is the timeframe of your side adventure? Present Day, sometime after Magic From The Sky

Who will be involved in your side adventure? Skylar and her Storybook Summons.

Who are you creating for your side adventure? Villains have an old movie gangster aesthetic. The boss has Storybook Summoning Magic and Guns Magic. His henchmen us Guns Magic. These characters are going to be one-shot villains and will be sent to prison.

Name: Celty

Gender: Female

Height: 5' 10"

Book Title: The Daughter of the Headless Horseman

Personality:
Celty is more of a person of action than talking, mainly because as a dullahan without a head she can't speak at all. Celty communicates with others through writing messages, drawing, and body gestures (like nodding her neck). The black flame that burns where her head should be may make her look intimidating, but Celty is really a friendly and heroic when the situation calls for it. Despite being a dullahan, she's a typical teenager with a cell phone in her hand or pocket.

Fighting Style/Abilities:
Celty is a Storybook Summon that's a mixture of attack and support.
  • Pumpkin Bomb: Celty can magically generate pumpkins that look like Jack-O-lanterns and have the explosive power of a grenade. Celty can generate one Pumpkin Bomb per hand.
  • Shadow Scythe: Simular to Shadow-Make magic, Celty can create a scythe out of shadows and use it for close range combat.
  • Shadow Barrier: Celty can generate defensive barriers that encase an individual is a sphere of solid shadows. The barriers protect whoever is inside, the downside is that the person inside the barrier can't see anything other than blackness until the barrier goes down and can't really go anywhere because of that. The move can also be used offensively as a capture mechanism. Offensively or defensively, barriers take a couple seconds to fully manifest. If a hostile target notices that a barrier is being formed around them, they can either jump away or try to interrupt the channeling of the ability by attacking Celty.
  • Dullahan Chopper: Celty summons her black motorcycle (which neighs like a horse). Celty can use her motorcycle to run over opponents, provide transportation, or can be combined with Shadow Scythe or Pumpkin Bomb for flashier attacks. While on her motorcycle, Celty can drive up walls and other vertical surfaces just as well as flat, horizontal ones. The motorcycle can be destroyed and must go through a repair period back in the Storybook World before it can be summoned again.

Advantages:
Good close to mid range fighter, with a motorcycle to close the gap of long ranged opponents. Despite the drawbacks, Shadow Barrier can be a life saver if there isn't time for Skylar or another mage to dodge an enemy's big attack.

Disadvantages:
Hand must be free to generate a Pumpkin Bomb. Celty can't use Shadow Barrier on herself. Motorcycle has a repair period if destroyed. Her Pumpkin Bombs and the ghostly black flame that burns where her head should be can be snacked on by Fire Dragonslayers/Godslayers. (Her neck flame tastes cold, like ice). Her shadow abilities can be eaten by Shadow Dragonslayers/Godslayers.

What is going to happen? The side adventure is basically Sirius Mortagogue's current job, which in itself is part of a chase/pursuit of a man possibly involved in the destruction of Sirius' tribe and home from many years ago.

What is the timeframe of your side adventure? The SA will end at the conclusion of Sirius' confrontation with his target. This will approximately coincide with the end of the current round of mission prompts.

Who will be involved in your side adventure? Just Sirius as of right now.

Who are you creating for your side adventure? Mostly minor enemies, such as grunts and lackeys, will be the obstacles in this job. The target is a retired politician from Bosco without any magic abilities. He is a greedy, wealth-driven man that has dabbled in corruption for decades. He will be guarded by a small team of three mages. Two of those mages are considered C rank if in a guild while the leader is B rank. The mages are part of a mercenary guild from Fiore, and have been employed by the politician for a long time.
Friendly bump!
