"Oh no, I'm laaaaa~ate!"

The footfalls of a high school student pounded against the concrete sidewalk in a hurried rush. People were dodged, obstacles were avoided, and the piece of toast hanging from her lips flopped about with her movements.

All in all, it was a typical day for Senai Koroko.

Being late for school, appointments, or anything was as natural for Koroko as breathing. Her lack of punctuality was so apparent to the people around her that she came to be quite popular in her neighborhood. As such, she exchanged greetings with her various neighbors and acquaintances that she came across in her sprint for school.

As per her daily routine, she headed for the crosswalk at a popular intersection, but cursed her poor luck at the realization that the pedestrian light had just turned red. There was no time to wait, she thought to herself. She absolutely had to get to school as soon as possible, and so she made a rather bold decision to simply rush across the crosswalk and hope to dodge any vehicles that might collide with her.

However, fate was no so kind to Senai Koroko.

Within her first three steps, the normally cheerful high school girl was suddenly faced with a rather peculiar situation. A large semi-truck had unfortunately been speeding on that particular day at that particular time on that particular street, and it was currently positioned in a path that would lead it to slam right into Koroko's side. And as if sensing that her already-horrible morning was about to get even worse, Koroko turned just in time to see the towering face of the truck moments before it hit her. With only seconds to react, the rather air-headed girl could only wonder one thing.

Why didn't the driver even try to slow down? Was she being targeted in some sort of hit-and-run murder?

And just as she thought she caught a ghost of a smile on the driver's face, Senai Koroko's world turned upside-down.

"Oh my god!"

"I-Is she dead?!"

"Someone call an ambulance! A girl was hit by a truck!"

Many voices shouted in the distance, and Koroko realized that she must have been thrown pretty far by the truck. All she could feel was a dull ache in her chest, and she remained still from her position on the ground. Her arms were spread out on her sides, and she was staring straight up at the sky with a neutral expression. Many people began to crowd around her, worriedly attempting to asses her health and keep her conscious until an ambulance could arrive. They seemed particularly distressed at the fact that she wasn't moving at all, so everyone was naturally surprised when the girl abruptly sat up with an oddly serious look on her face. In response to their appalled stares, she opened her mouth and...

Suddenly, Senai Koroko began to cry.

It was a loud, childish wail. The kind one would hear from a guilty infant that had been scolded. For minutes, she sobbed amidst the now crowded street before someone finally had enough sense of mind to approach her.

"U-Um... Are you alright, Miss?"

Koroko stopped crying to address the man who'd spoken to her. Her big, wet eyes looked over his profile, and those of the people surrounding her, and slowly shifted her position until she was on her hands and knees. But instead of getting to her feet as most had assumed, her head suddenly dipped down until it pressed against the cobblestone road.

"I'M SORRY!!!~"

As the girl began to ramble on and on about inconveniencing everyone and possibly damaging the truck of her assailant, any sense of rationality to the situation had been completely thrown out the window. But slowly, one thing and one thing only was becoming clear to the pedestrians surrounding the hapless youth.

Senai Koroko had lived. Not only that, but she had not sustained a single injury from the incident.

As if suddenly remembering something, Koroko's head shot up from the ground as she let out an 'Ah!'. Her head whipped around, scanning for her various belongings that had been strewn about from the crash. With the kind of coordination that someone who'd been recently struck by a fast-moving vehicle should not posses, she set about collecting her schoolbag, shoes, cellphone, one of her hair ties that had come undone, and finally the partially eaten piece of toast that now lay haphazardly on the sidewalk.

After picking it up, Koroko consumed it without care for its dirtied state, shocking and horrifying the crowd far more than the collision had. But the girl who always moved through life at her own pace paid no mind and simply bowed twice in apology to everyone who'd shown concern for her as well as the truck that was suspiciously nowhere to be seen after hitting her, and resumed her panicked dash for school.

-----

Finally, she arrived at Nōryoku Academy, the school she'd already completed a full year at. Though she'd already garnered something of a reputation with the school's populace, it was not one so kind.

You see, Senai Koroko is special.

Because of circumstances she couldn't quite understand, Koroko had suddenly found herself with the strange ability to be immune to any kind of damage, effectively making her invincible. In her sixteen years of life, she had found herself in over three hundred situations where one would normally lose their life. And yet, she would walk away from each one with no wounds whatsoever. She had never experienced the sensation known as "pain" for as long as she could remember, and also found that she could even survive underwater and without things such as oxygen or sustenance indefinitely. It truly seemed that old age was the only way she could perish.

Naturally, she became curious as to who, or what she really was. A quick internet search had brought her to a particular word that would come to be her anchor for maintaining a sense of rationality over herself for the rest of her life.

Esper.

A person that has manifested or can manifest supernatural abilities, known as ESP. After studying the topic extensively for hours on end every day, Koroko came to a single, gratifying conclusion.

Senai Koroko was an esper.

The thought of finally being able to comprehend her own existence even in such a small way gave her a sense of relief she hadn't known she'd been seeking up until that moment. From there, she'd been able to live her life relatively normally, deciding that being invincible did not need to change the fact that she was a human being who could strive for a happy life like any other person.

However one day, a strange thought suddenly came to her.

Is there anyone else like me?

Surely if she herself was an esper, then the idea that others could exist certainly wasn't outside the realm of possibility, right? Koroko did not waste any time in jumping onto the idea. The idea of not just finding others like her, but espers themselves fascinated her so much that before she knew it, she'd already submitted a Club Appeal Request to the student council. The president, surprised to see the normally drifty Senai Koroko suddenly so motivated, did not give much thought to accepting the request on the condition that she dutifully perform her club activities and find more members.

The reason why she was in such a rush to get to school is directly related to the latter.

You see, Koroko hit a roadblock almost immediately after her club was approved: How was she supposed to find more espers to join her? It wasn't as if they were common, since she hadn't seen them on the news or really heard of any certain proof of their existence before. In fact, what were the chances that there even were more espers at Nōryoku anyway? Granted, she'd only spent a single year there, but it isn't as if she'd heard of any supernatural goings on aside from the usual ghost stories and myths. It was a serious issue that needed careful consideration.

So after mulling over it in homeroom, Senai Koroko came to a sudden epiphany.

Why waste time searching for espers that may not exist, when she can just have the espers come to her instead? It was so genius that she couldn't help but pat herself on the back. During the lunch period, she set about creating an ad poster to put up on the school bulletin board, and by the end of the day she'd finished it with pride.

That was two weeks ago. Today, the crudely-drawn images and childishly-scribbled message still sit there, awaiting the day someone would read its contents and abide by the instructions provided, in order to secretly meet with Koroko, discuss their esper abilities, and possibly even join the ESP Club officially.

So, like every other day for the past two weeks, Koroko immediately dashed inside the school, hurriedly changed into her indoor shoes, and beelined for her designated club room on the second floor of the school. She threw open the door with reckless abandon and stuck her head in, her eyes sparkling with hope that today the room would not be empty.

But, like all of the other times she'd done this, her efforts bore no fruit. Shoulders sagging slightly, Koroko turned and left the room, only later realizing that classes had already started and even if someone had followed the request, they would have long left the moment the bell rang.

-----

During the lunch period, Koroko went to check on the ad poster in order to confirm that it hadn't been tampered with or destroyed again by students who found the idea ridiculous. However, that day had proved stranger than any other thus far.

After all, the ad poster was not defaced, but missing in its entirety.

Someone who wanted to pull a prank on her or simply found the idea of poking fun at her adorable doodles a good use of their time would never remove the poster completely, as it defeated the purpose. And she couldn't think of anyone that would be so malicious toward her that they would get rid of the poster, especially after two weeks had already passed without issue. No, there was only one conclusion she could make of the situation.

Someone saw the poster...and must have decided to pick it up!

Koroko was ecstatic. The only kind of person that would take an interest in the poster enough to take it with them would have to be an esper, right? Then maybe someone had gone to the club room in the morning, and her tardiness had simply prevented them from meeting.

There was no reason to get discouraged at that. After all, her instructions had accounted for such a thing, and asked anyone interested to wait in the club room both before and after school. In other words, if her line of thinking was correct, she would get to meet an esper very, very soon! Or at least whomever took the poster...

A wonderful blend of emotions passed through her as she anticipated how the meeting would go. Who were they? Were they nice? What would their ESP be? Would they be interested in joining her club? It was all very exciting, and Koroko found herself unable to stop thinking about it until the hour of destiny finally arrived.

She performed the class-ending ritual with as much gusto as she usually did, bowing her head to her teacher far lower than her peers, and bolted out of the room as soon as they were dismissed. Her target was her club room, and she would not let anything get in the way of her arrival.

Like she'd done that morning, she flung the door open with a big smile on her face as she prepared to greet her fellow esper and potential new club member. "Hello! I'm Senai Koroko from class B, and the president of the ESP Club! Are you the one who-"

It was then that she noticed the state of the room. Just as it had been that morning, just as it had been for the past two weeks, the room was undisturbed. The decorations she'd put up were still there, the manga she'd brought from home were still tucked away on the bookshelf, and the window that she'd forgotten to close the previous day was still sitting open.

No one had come into the room. No one was waiting for her. Just like always, she'd gotten her hopes up only to be disappointed in the end.

Koroko slowly stepped inside and closed the door to the room. Her bag was tossed carelessly onto the table as she took a seat and began to wonder where she went wrong. The only responses she'd gotten so far for her ad were pranks. Despite her best effort, she couldn't find a single member interested in joining her club, let alone another esper. Perhaps this whole idea was ridiculous in the first place. Sure she was invincible, but what if it had nothing to do with espers, and she was just some sort of anomaly of the human race? What if she truly was alone in her extraordinary nature? The school already had her pegged as some sort of lunatic for her stalwart dedication to locating and researching espers, so perhaps it was time for her to simply accept the reality that she would never truly understand why she was the way she was, and would never find anyone that could relate to her plight.

For the second time that day, Senai Koroko began to cry.

She didn't want it. She didn't want to go back to the days of fear, of isolation, of hiding herself away from others in order to protect an identity she knew nothing about. Though she tried so hard to convince herself that she could be like everyone else, that she could live a normal life like any other human, deep down she knew that she was only ignoring her own slowly-growing separation from the rest of the world. She didn't know what "pain" felt like, or what it meant to fear your own death. She could run into oncoming traffic without a care in the world, and the idea of being physically assaulted had never even crossed her mind. The very earth itself could be destroyed, and she knew that she would turn out just fine.

Her tears of despair echoed throughout the empty room as she prayed that someone, anyone would walk through that door. Even if she knew it was pointless in the end, even she believed in miracles. If someone appeared, then she wouldn't have to shut down the club. She wouldn't have to feel helpless and alone again. If someone would only walk through that door, all of her efforts would not be in vain. And so, she prayed. She prayed with every fiber of her being that someone would come; that someone would hear her plight and come to set her heart at ease.

Looking back, it was perhaps at that moment that Koroko had manifested a second ESP. The ability that would allow her to create bonds, to bring hope to herself and others, and to even change the world itself.

Though she would never come to realize it, Senai Koroko had the ability to create miracles.

The door slid open slowly, hesitantly, and a figure stepped inside. Clutching the very same ad poster that had gone missing that day in their hand, the person gazed at the hunched form of Senai Koroko and said...

It was the near the end of the day, just few more minutes until class was over yet Yoshida Akira couldn't help but feel wary. His childhood friend and tormentor Hana was up to trouble and that usually meant he would be in trouble just by proxy. Sure the day had been normal up until now, he got himself up an hour early so he could shower eat and change and then promptly walk across the street to Hana's house. Ring the door bell eight times before breaking out the spare key and dragging Hana out of bed. After a lot of struggle and effort was the signature mad dash before the school gates closed. Sure it was High school now but for the last five years this was his norm. Though something was off today...

There was three signs of trouble. The first was the poster Hana had grabbed off the wall at lunch time, she nuzzled and cooed to it like a stray kitten. Akira thought nothing of it, Hana was merely being Hana. The second sign was during history when Hana was "improving" the poster instead of paying attention in class. Lastly the third sign was when the bell had rung and Hana was no where in sight. Yep, a missing Hana was a bad sign indeed Akira had only moment's to find her and advert the worst case scenario. "Yoshida-kun? aren't you on cleaning duty today?" the home room teacher asked Akira as he was attempting to leave, and just like that the chase was on intermission...

----

Ianes Hana arrived at the teachers office short of breathe, she jumped a flight of steps and weeded her way through the student body leaving school or going to clubs. Though she laughed in the face of human traffic, nothing was going to stop her from completing her mission. Except maybe technology... Her plan was to copy and print it for further distribution but it was to BIG. Her first attempts only printed out a mere corner of it, she would only have mere minutes to figure out how to this infernal contraption worked before a teacher came. The only problem was Hana had never used a copy machine before, there was a snag in the plan after all.

"Ah, Ianes-san... what are you doing in here?" asked a voice from behind. Busted, Hana thought she turned to meet the teacher with a smile and immediately she realized she didn't recognize them in the slightest. "Sensei , I was trying to make a copy of this recruitment poster, could you help me?" Hana said wearing her most innocent smile possible. "Oh for a school club? I don't see a problem with making a few copies." the teacher said rubbing the scruff of his chin and making a shooing gesture as he took over. "With a posters this size we need to scan it first. It then will resize the image to fit the sheet, I set it for ten copies tell me if you need more" he explained pressing a few buttons before walking away, a few seconds and the the copy machine roared to life spitting out the copies. "Thank you Sensei!" Hana said with a bow, hook line and sinker she thought to her self triumphantly. Gathering together the copies she sneakily snagged a roll of tape off a vacant desk, she was sure they'd never miss it. She was about to leave with her spoils until she thought of an idea and grinned. She pivoted back to the office space facing the teacher that had just helped her and politely asked "Sensei could I please get two blank club admission forms?"

------

Finally done with his cleaning duties Akira began his search for his mischievous friend. He thought about just leaving for home. There was no reason to really stay, he didn't belong to a club yet and he had no actual responsibility to bring Hana home. Though if anything were to happen to her... Evidently guilt won this battle. So there Akira was searching for his friend Hana with two sets of backpacks. One was his own and the other was abandoned in the homeroom by, you guessed it Hana. The only question was were to look... Akira stuttered to a stop as he passed the girls and boys bathrooms. The signs for each gender were suddenly covered with a familiar paper, the same paper that Hana had taken from before. As far as school rules went anyone could place a add or newsletter up at designated locations. This was not one of them, hence trouble.

Akira tore the leaflets off the door and began to look for more as he went further down the hall, calling out for "Ianes-chan" every now and then. Akira had his fifth leaflet in hand by the time he had found Hana. She was balancing awkwardly on a window sil as she attempted to stick a leaflet on the back of an emergency exit sign. Hana's eyes slowly met with Akira's, her mouth silently lipped an obscenity as she skillfully landed and promptly ran away at top speed. "HANA!" Akira shouted forgetting to add honorifics in frustration. He toss both of their bags off his shoulder as he turned the corner closing the gap astonishingly quickly. Grabbing her firmly on each shoulder he brought the chase to an end. "Hana-Chan~ what have you been up to?" Akira asked in a calm voice masking the clear malice behind it. "W-well, nothing... just helping a club out with their recruitment! you?" Hana mustered imagining what cruel punishment awaited her.

"Hana, you need to stop causing trouble we aren't in middle school anymore. You might think your helping, but if you break school rules placing these in non designated area's who do you think is going to be in trouble?" Akira said with a sigh releasing her "Come on, lets collect the rest of them and go apologize to the club leader." dejected the captured Hana complied, for the most part. The leaflets that were in proper areas for advertisement she left without telling Akira, to her that was her own subtle victory.

----

The door slid open slowly, hesitantly, and a figure stepped inside. Clutching the very same ad poster that had gone missing that day in their hand, the person gazed at the hunched form of Senai Koroko and said...

"Excuse me! sorry to bother you Sempai my friend took down your recruitment poster, we are very sorry..." Akira said while deeply bowing his senior and holding Hana's head down as well. He could see she was rather upset, and wondered was it because the poster was taken down? He wasn't even sure what this club was about to begin with, just that Hana was meddling with something once again. "Senai-Sempai! Ianes Hana and Yoshida Akira are in your care! We would love to join your ESP Club!" Hana shouted with her head down and her eyes close extending out a hand with two very official looking club admission forms. Though Akira paid less attention to what was in Hana's hands and more the the last words of here sentence. ESP Club and the fact that he was joining such a club as a closet ESP user, the words trailed out of his mouth in utter confusion "Ehhh?"

"Eh..." Koroko slowly lifted her head up to face the source of the sudden noise, where two figures were bowing to her while one offered club admission forms. Her mind struggled to decide whether she should react to the fact that she'd just been seen crying, or that she somehow miraculously just acquired two new members.

Naturally, she couldn't muster out more than bewildered croaks at the suddenness of the situation. "Eh? Huh? Eh?? EHH????"

-----

A while had passed before Koroko had managed to calm down. Currently, the two new arrivals were seated across from her at the table in the center of the room, mugs of tea that she'd prepared for them sending plumes of steam rising into the air. One looked noticeably more attentive than the other, who still looked just as confused as her, but both seemed to be waiting for her response. The forms in front of her revealed their names, ages, homeroom class, and that they were both in their first year, but even despite the proof that this was not another prank right in front of her, she still had trouble believing the events that had transpired in the last several minutes. As such, she tried once more to organize the order of events in her head.

She arrived at school and went to the club room, only to find it empty like usual.

During lunch, she noticed that the poster was missing and hoped that someone would come after school let out.

She went to the club room once again afterschool, only to find it empty once again.

This prompted her to become depressed and cry, losing hope that she would ever meet another esper and would have to shut down her club.

But just as she desperately wished for someone to walk through the door, two people had appeared and offered to join.

...Am I psychic? Koroko looked down at her hands, suddenly nervous that she'd discovered another ESP. Can I control the causality of the world? Am I God?

She shook those foolish thoughts away a moment later. It was far more likely just a coincidence, albeit one that had effectively saved her from falling into the pit of despair she was steadily digging for herself. There was no way she wouldn't capitalize on this opportunity. And judging by the ad poster in the girl's hands, it really did seem that the two of them were responsible for its disappearance earlier that day.

A multitude of questions passed through her mind. Were they espers? Or just interested in the club? Why did they take the poster? After some careful consideration, she singled out the most important of them all and opened her mouth to speak. "Erm...you two," she started, slowly. "You said your names were...Ianes and Yoshida, right? And you want to join my club? D-Does that mean you have...you know..." She struggled to say "ESP", considering it was a term she herself practically made up to describe her own power, based on the results of an internet search about supernatural abilities. To that end, how would she go about explaining espers and ESP to them? No scratch that, if these two didn't have any abilities in the first place, how was she supposed to tell them about hers? The thought had never even crossed her mind until now.

Suddenly, Senai Koroko began to get very nervous.

"U-Um, well you see, espers,- they have ESP and-, w-what I mean is-, um...do you...believe, in the supernatural?"

“I see…” The dark, groggy eyes of a Nōryoku student stared down at the lip balm placed in her hand. Beside her, another girl with a different uniform waited intently, fists clenched in anticipation. All in all, the latter was more focused than the former. The student with the lip balm frowned. She’d already been frowning, but it somehow dipped lower, along with her eyelids as boredom overtook the initial curiosity. She’d been halted suddenly in her morning walk to school for this, and more importantly, coerced under duress. Even worse; all she saw was some girl putting on lip balm. “Nah. Got nothing.”

“What!” The girl from another school deflated in disappointment. “You didn’t see anything…?”

“Nothing worth mentioning.” She offered the girl back the stick. It was promptly snatched away.

“Ugh! So frustrating… I know he’s cheating!” The girl fumed, more at the item than at the other. “I’ll bring you one of his shirts next time. Later!”

“Please don’t.” She groaned as the other paced off. And then a thought occurred. She had seen a girl putting on lip balm. And it wasn’t the one in front of her. And their might’ve been a boy somewhere in there… “Hey wait, I might’ve-”

But the student was already rounding a corner, and Uranaishi Ninchi really doesn’t like running. “But man.” She groaned again. “That could’a been worked for a lot of chocoballs…” She mourned the loss, accepting she was going to have to handle some guy’s dirty, lipstick smeared shirt to get some yen out of her next time. She mourned it halfway to the academy, stopping only for the ever intriguing wailing of sirens.

“Hmm.” Uranaishi went off the usual path, dooming her to be even later than usual. Again. It proved to be worth it. Nothing fancy, some bewildered pedestrians speaking to a couple of police, one jotting notes. No corpses. No totalled cars. They’d probably already been sent away. But before Uranaish got too bored, there was mention of a girl getting hit by a truck. And surviving. Which made for a happy story, one which spiked her curiosity enough to linger.

As the few who witnessed the hit and run each gave their testimonies, Uranasihi let her gaze wander about the scene. She imagined what it might’ve been like as the details were fed. Slowly, the scene came in still frames, like a really shitty computer struggling to keep up with a 60fps video. A flash of orange hair. Faceless, blurry, coming into focus. Bread in her mouth, skipping in a dainty rush, until the moment of impact. Lying on the pavement, right over there. The crowd, immaculately detailed compared to the truck of girl in question, rushing to aid her. Seemed pointless, helping that crumpled form. Big Dead, that one. Then... she bolted upright.

“Hmm.” Uranaishi craned her neck, gaze far off as she watched intently at her features coming into focus. To anyone else, she seemed very enthralled with this stretch of quartered off road. “Her. How’d I never notice her wearing the same uniform?” She blinked some, the phantoms of the past fading. She returned to her usual route soon after. With enough time, and far too much effort, she could probably make out a few letters of that demon truck. But that wasn’t what’d interested her in the first place, and it wasn’t what did now.

-----

“Did a child make this…?”

“Pfffft I don’t know, man. Wanna go and find out?”

“Fat chance. It’s karaoke tonight, senpai. You in or…”

“Hell yeah! Who’d ever want to fall for a prank like going to an ‘ESP Club’.”

A pair of second and third year boys shared a chuckle as they stepped away and went down some stairs to exit the school for another evening. They failed to notice Uranaishi standing still as a statue behind them, watching them go. She did so only a moment, before stepping forward to confirm what she’d overheard. Indeed, there was a new club. Not only did it’s premise deserve the doubt the boys had in its authenticity, it’s aesthetics deserved the lotted ridicule. An “Esper Club” of some kind, adorned in flowery imagery which brought to mind a spiritual occult-fangirl as the only culprit to be heading this. The type who’d sell her mood altering crystals, or something.

Uranaishi found that not to be explicitly the case, as she allowed herself to wander for several minutes. The paper had been placed here for better part of a day, faceless swathes of the curious glancing at it only to move on with their schedules. Then, Uranaishi overshot it, finding herself before a blank paper stack in some faculty room. It took another few moments to clear up that ambiguous in between. There, she found her; a plain looking student she didn’t know. Not the one she’d been dreading, or been hoping for. It hardly mattered. Uranaishi hadn’t enough pocket change for an evening at the arcade. There was nothing to lose in investigating this long shot.

“I’m ready for disappointment.” Uranaishi said to no one, blinking out again, taking longer to do so than this morning. She tore the poster, and made for the stairs. She passed a few girls who quickly whispered about her prolonged stillness, just loud enough to be rude. Uranaishi couldn’t tell if they were actually there, and so saved the effort.

To her surprise, the club actually existed. Rare apprehension gripped her, enticing her to take a gander at the door to see if there were any unsavory sorts waiting with water balloons or another method of hazing equally regrettable. But who knew how long that’d take to abate her suspicion, giving her ample time to chicken out, or be discovered. The phantoms were already getting somewhat difficult to ignore. Best do it the old fashion way.

So a fourth student slid the door open, and shut behind her. She’d closed her eyes as a method of maintaining confidence. When she opened them, relief and yet more anticipation washed together. Both girls who’d caught her curiosity today were sitting across from each other, an unknown boy joined on the side of the plain girl. Though she considered her plain, Uranaishi had enough self awareness to at least consider herself not the most interesting of sights either. Fashion consisted of kneesocks coming to the hem of her uniform, of which was was worn completely standard with little in the way of accessory: Black. Make-up was just a few light brushes of shadow above half-slitted, utterly bored eyes boring into who she mentally dubbed “Truck-chan”: Also black. Short, frayed, disheveled hair in a bob-ish cut covering her ears completely: surprise surprise, Black. Uranaishi was a girl devoid of color, save a bit of rose on her cheeks. But even her uniform was slightly faded like that of an old photo. Even the stylized, cartoony crossbone hairpins sweeping her bangs to either side were merely a stark white. She vaguely wondered what they were thinking, for someone like her to have interrupted whatever they were saying. What had they been talking of? She had to quite unnaturally blink that away, lest she miss out on the present. Finding there to be too much to ask, she settled on the first and foremost.

“This the club for mind stuff or…” Her stare finally broke from Truck-chan to the set tableware. “Tea Appreciation?”

Akira was confused as to what was going on here, and before he knew it he had already just gone with the flow of things and was now sitting down with cup of tea.
"Erm...you two," she started, slowly. "You said your names were...Ianes and Yoshida, right? And you want to join my club? D-Does that mean you have...you know..." Akira could see what was happening here. Hana of course knew his secret, she had been the one hand that pulled him from the darkness and saved him. She was the light for him and his irreplaceable friend, and maybe Hana was trying to find others just as understanding. Akira was just not that gullible. There was no reason to trust this Senai Koroko was simply a delusional high schooler that made a club for like minded.

Suddenly the door slid open reveling a new arrival. She wore black on black with black with a hint of rose around her cheeks. Mentally to both Hana and Akira until they actually knew her name she was hence dubbed Goth-chan. “This the club for mind stuff or…” Goth-chan asked, looking around “Tea Appreciation?” it was understandable given the situation. Hanna smiled at her and silently beckoned her to an empty chair at the table. Passing her Akira's untouched tea cup and place mat, she had thought of giving Goth-chan her own but it was already half gone. Surprisingly the girl complied and sat at the table with bored looking eyes peacefully sipping tea. Hanna stared at her like she was some sort of museum artifact with the words Do Not Touch which only made her want to do it more.

"Senai Sempai, before we continue any further may I see my application?" Akira said out holding his hand for the paper with his best honor student smile. It was an easy enough of a request that Senai complied. Akira stared down at the sheet and struggled to keep his facade from cracking. Hana had become crazy good at forging his own handwriting sytle behind his back, if he didn't already know this was her doing he might have just believed it. "Hana-chan, this is so good how many weeks did you practice my signature?" Akira praised warmly to his friend next to him. Hana thought about it for a moment before she responded "Just tw-" and then stopped and stared anywhere but towards Akira. "I d-dont't know what y-you're talking about..." she stuttered sheepishly. Akira then stared more intensely at the application and chuckled turning the paper towards Hana as he spoke "but, you got my address wrong..."

"No I didn-" Hana argued as she turned to look Akira only realize her sudden mistake with a "Ah" Which Akira mimicked with his own "Ah". It was clear the jig was up.

"Sorry about this Senai-Sempai but you can clearly see she's forged my application to you club, thank you but Im-" Akira began trying his best to keep a calm and humble demeanor only to be promptly cut off. "I HAVE ESP!!!" Hana declared loudly. Still wearing his honor student facade Akira turned to Hana and smiled with a questioning "Eh?" which the unprepared Hana echoed "Eh?"

He surely wasn't going to let it just go away with just that. "Hana-chan, when did you get it?" he asked "ummm" Hana responded fumbling to find a correct answer. "What is your tragic backstory?" Akira said pressing on "Ehhh" She shrieked not even considering it before. "More importantly, what is your power?" Akira asked "I um..." she stuttered eyes darting back and forth looking in the room for quick answer. Akira was going to have none of that and pressed on "Yes?" moving his face closer to Hana demanding an answer. She instantly caved with the truth "I put placeholder in my CS..." whispering so quietly that she was trying to make her words just disappear.

Akira felt as if the situation was getting out past the point were logic would have effect anymore. Senai Koroko was probly a Chuunibyou and Hana was just hooked the equivalent of a Gas station pump to the fire hose . There was No other choice at this point but to burn credibility to the ground and get with some first degree burns at his pride. Akira stood patted Hana on the back in comfort and said "Its ok." Akira truly wanted to vomit blood in embarrassment as he began, he planted a foot on the table and covered a hand over his right eye and tipped his head dramatically upwards and stated loudly "I too have ESP!"

A part of Akira wanted to die right then and there. "During the day I am just a normal boy! But at night I can't suppress the demon living in my right eye!" He said avoiding eye contact with everyone. He knew what he was saying was ridiculous, that was the point. "I'm sorry but I cant join you club! its for your own safety!" Akira ended dramatically turning to the door and shifting his book bag to his shoulder. The show was over and it was time to exit the stage but Hana's hand gently tugged at his sleeve stopped him from leaving "Youshida, m-maybe she isn't like the oth-" she meekly began to say.

"HANA!!" Akira shouted to cut her off, his tone curbed into a weapon as he angrily glared down to his friend "Shut... Up..." She psychically recoiled her hand slipping back as she brought both hands to her chest with a pained and self ashamed expression. Akira began to walk away but he could feel his heartache seeing his best friend like that. Did I go to far? he asked his emotions wavering with self doubt. No, never again! I wont fall for false hope again! Akira thought hardening his heart, he walked to the door frame and stopped. He sighed deeply unhappy with how he was leaving this. With a quick pivot he rushed the table and slammed both his hands down staring Koroko directly in they eyes. Fuck it he thought as anger and resentment began to rise from from his stomach. "Hypothetically Senai Koroko, lets say someone with POWERS does walk in? Are they supposed to spill their guts to you? Do some parlor trick for your amusement and then you will be the best of friends?" Akira said his tone was rude and filled with sarcasm, he even dropped the honorifics for his senior.

"Ahhh..." Koroko was having a hard time understanding exactly what was going on. Did they have ESP? Were they just more students trying to make fun of her club? But no one had gone as far as pretending to join just to make a fool of her before. And with the arrival of a third person, things just got even stranger.

She watched the display between the two clearly close individuals with an utter lack of comprehension, uttering a loud 'EHH?!' when the boy revealed his ESP as some sort of demon containment, but still not fully comprehending whether the display was an act or not.

Admittedly though, Senai Koroko felt that having a demon living in your eye sounded way cooler than simply being invulnerable. At least then, you wouldn't be lonely.

Perhaps now was not the time to be thinking such things, she wondered as the boy was suddenly in her face and speaking very rudely to her for someone who was supposedly younger. The question itself caught her interest more, however, even as she struggled to avoid gazing directly into the eye that apparently housed a demon. Huh? A-Am I being interrogated now? Or is he making fun of me? I don't understand! Sweat began to pour down Koroko's cheeks as she fumbled for a response under the scrutinizing gaze of her underclassman.

"W-Well, you don't really have to, um, that is-, if you just like espers then it's okay, but...h-how do I say this...I would like it if I could meet other people like me. But-, you see, I don't really know how I'd go about proving to you-"

Then it hit her.

Square in the face.

Unbeknownst to everyone in the room, the softball club had been hard at work practicing for the upcoming game against a rival school. The ace of the team, Saitama-senpai, had just pitched his hardest throw to date after his girlfriend had shown up to cheer him on. But he miscalculated the trajectory and ended up sending the hyper-fastball flying clean past the hitter and through the open window of a random club room...

In an instant, the ever-unlucky Senai Koroko found her view warped slightly. The ball had connected directly with her own right eye, but had only done enough to snap her neck to the side. The projectile itself ricocheted up into the ceiling and fell back down to smack her again, this time on the top of her head.

A long silence filled the room as everyone watched the ball roll to a stop a ways away. It was broken only by the apologetic shouts of the softball club's members, Saitama-senpai in particular rushing to the edge of the field to cup his hands over his mouth and ask if everyone was alright. As all eyes turned to the one who'd been struck by a force that would put most in the hospital...

"I'm fine, Senpai~! But please try and be more careful while playing in the future."

Senai Koroko simply smiled, retrieved the ball, and happily tossed it back.

It collided with the wall next to the window with a pathetic thud! instead of going out like she'd intended, but it was the sentiment that mattered. Her second and third attempts to pass it back also ended it failure, and the vastly uncoordinated Senai Koroko was relieved when the older boy generously offered to run into the school and retrieve it personally. Less than five minutes passed before he arrived, and after making sure that she and everyone else really were okay, he quickly returned to the field to resume practice.

Koroko watched with an idle smile as the door slid shut, momentarily appreciative that there were still students in the school who treated her indiscriminately despite her reputation. After letting the feeling sink in, she turned back to the others, namely the boy who'd been pressing her. She could feel her stomach knotting again once she remembered the situation.

"R-Right...so as I was saying, I'm not really sure how I could prove to you that I have ESP, b-but I promise it's true! I know what the rumors say about me, but I'm really not making it up! Oh, what should I do to make you believe me..."

Uranaishi had trouble scribbling the information needed of her to join. She'd been too absorbed in what the pair were getting at. They seemed rather... seriously, by the end of the strange display the boy preformed. Why was he so one edge all the sudden, after mocking the idea? The girl was just making things up on the fly. Had to be. Couple of fools out for fun? The girl sure is, but the skeptic? How many spiritual "ESP crystals" would they buy, was the question? Unconsciously, Uranaishi wrote down "2 each" next to a doodled self portrait, the sparse info she managed to focus enough to write, and several ink blotted spirals of various size. She'd long forgotten what she'd been told to fill out, and so raised the poster to whom she gathered was the president, but her neck was bent the wrong way.

That was what she caught at least. It took some time to catch up to what exactly occurred, Uranaishi even allowing herself to double check if she'd been mistaken. Paper and pen forgotten on the table, she looked from the dented ceiling to the blubbering girl shrugging off the killing blow that'd been uncomfortably just a seat placement away from her own neck. "You really are the elusive Truck-chan!" Uranaishi said with a distinct excitement. It faded like a brief breeze, tone reverting to still air. "The one responsible for all the filled potholes, mysterious dents around the city," she pointed to the most recent above their heads. The pointed hand turned to fist, which she rammed into palm. "And that incident this morning. With the truck. Why aren't you dead?" She made it sound like the girl was being rude for not being so.

"W-Well, you don't really have to, um, that is-, if you just like espers then it's okay," Sure it is Akira thought as he began to watch her sweat. After all she was just a normal high school girl after all he had defiantly gotten his hope to high. He wondered if he should just apologize and take his leave, the only question was after all of this how could he? "But...h-how do I say this...I would like it if I could meet other people like me. But-, you see, I don't really know how I'd go about proving to you-"

His trail of thought and her words was suddenly interrupted by a Fwoosh sound and then a sudden blur that collided into Senai Koroko's eye at roughly 90 mph. Her head tilted at a 90 degree angle as the baseball dented the ceiling tiles spinning in place until it lost momentum, falling harmlessly back ontop of her head with a light thud.

Ehh? Akira thought as he witnessed this as the closest person to her in the room. Inside he could feel the urge to scream MUUUURDER! but he just stood there mouth gaped in a smile. The awkward silence was broken only but the sound of the members of the serial killing softball team asking for the evidence of their murder back. There were to many witnesses these vicious criminals were just going to act as if nothing happened! It was the perfect crime... or it should have been if the should be corpse hadn't started talking

"I'm fine, Senpai~! But please try and be more careful while playing in the future." the should be dead Senai Kokoro said. Picking up the deadly projectile from the floor and wiffing it 1... 2... 3... times. Hana and Akira couldn't decide which was more amazing, her lack of simple hand eye coordination or the fact she was still breathing. Was that two super powers?

"R-Right...so as I was saying, I'm not really sure how I could prove to you that I have ESP, b-but I promise it's true! I know what the rumors say about me, but I'm really not making it up! Oh, what should I do to make you believe me..." Hana simply put balled up hands beside her head opening and closing them with explosion noises and Akira decided to manually close his mouth. They we're even sure if it was required to say it out loud at this point. Though someone managed to do so.

"The one responsible for all the filled potholes, mysterious dents around the city," Goth-chan said pointing to the most recent above their heads. The pointed hand turned to fist, which she then rammed into palm. "And that incident this morning. With the truck. Why aren't you dead?" Yep she said it. Ah...I forgot about her Akira thought remembering her existence. I then dawned upon him SHE KNOWS TO MUCH! his inner soul shrieking. His head slowly creaked to Hana to see what she was doing. It seemed she was done making mind blown gestures and was now enjoying the tea with an overly satisfied face. "Sepai!~ seconds please" Hana said extending the cup out to Kokoro IS THIS EVEN THE TIME TO BE ENJOYING TEA!?! Akira inner monologued at a loss AND WHY ARE YOU COMPLYING!?! . Common sense had been broken and all logic shattered.

"E-EH?! Y-Y-Y-You saw that?! I was in such a rush to get to school, I completely forgot I was hit by a truck today!" Koroko squinted her eyes in worry as she retrieved the cup from Hana, the memory over the potentially damaged truck and troubled pedestrians bringing her back into a state of worry. "A-And dents?! No no, you're wrong! I just like going up to high places, that's all. The wind feels so nice, and it's fun watching people down below. I-I don't always slip and fall! Just sometimes..."

She whined as she headed for the kettle and stove. Nōryoku Academy is on the richer side in terms of funding, so every club room comes stocked with a mini electric stove and mini fridge, the former of which was used to prepare the tea. As Koroko approached it, she suddenly tilted her head. "Huh? Did I forget to turn the heat down?" To check, she lifted the kettle from the stove and promptly placed the flat of her hand against the red-hot coloration.

A sharp hissing sound emanated from the point of contact, but Koroko displayed no visible sign of pain, merely curiosity, as she inspected her undamaged hand. "Oops, hehe..." she said with an awkward laugh as she turned to face the rest of the room. "It's a good thing I found this when I did, or that might have been bad. At least I don't have to heat up the stove again."

Another batch of tea was prepared quickly using the pre-heated stove, and another steaming cup was before Hana once again. "So anyway, you all came here for a reason right? You have club admission forms, but was it really just to see whether or not I was telling the truth? Don't you wanna join at all? It's okay if you don't have ESP; this club focuses on researching about espers too, and we can have fun doing other things too if you want. W-What do you think?" Her tone was apprehensive, her upwards gaze not quite meeting anyone's eyes for too long. It was clear she was expecting a flat-out rejection, but the spark of hope was alive within her.

"You make it sound like such a common thing..." Uranaishi couldn't help but massage her own hand as she watched Koroko the Undying's sear on the stove. Least to say, she was completely stupefied. This wasn't any elaborate prank she could see ever able to be pulled off. This was beyond luck! This was... well, it was hard what to call it genuine so soon. It was a real strain just trying to process it. So she didn't. Instead she took a steadying breath and doled out a half hearted, official, greeting.

"I'm Uranaishi Ninchi." The poor doodle of the girl said, as the poster was held in front of her. "16. 2nd Year. And get this: I see dead people." A pause allowed the statement to linger, and fall flatter than day old soda. The doodle-goth was dropped away for the real deal. "Kidding." She didn't laugh, or have even a hint of a smile. "Sort of. I have these... daydreams. If I let my mind wander, I can usually get a good idea of what happened at a place, or where an particular thing was. I never really cared to think of it like a psychic thing. But it makes a lot of sense all the sudden." She waved the makeshift application towards Koroko. "Ofcourse... I doubt you all'll believe me. Mines a case of either trusting my word or not for now. And frankly, I'd rather try-"

As Koroko accepted the copied poster from her, the two girl's attention were momentarily in sync. The poster was the focal point. Koroko was just for a moment privy to where it'd been recently. From Uranaishi's hand outside the club room, to it's place on the wall with it's speeding grey blurs of passerby, to a much clearer figure placing it there in the first place. It was Hana, smiling as she went about her business. But those quick images were all to be seen, as Uranaishi's fingers let free the poster, her attention wandering to another topic. All the while, she seemed unaware Koroko had a brief glimpse into her mind. nothing of importance occured at all.

"-to prove it another day. I can... I don't know." She threw a lazy wave to the boy. "Tell you where your boyfriend there was last night or something. That's usually what the girls I meet want. Almost caught a guy this morning... tch." Unlike Koroko, she appeared completely comfortable talking of such outlandish claims.

Hana whispered a simple "Thank you" as Senai Koroko took the cup from her, she then peeked a look to Akira whom was currently stupefied before turning her attention back to the hostess. She was listening intently to Koroko nodding along as she explained that she wasn't suicidal, she just liked how the breeze felt from suicidal heights and that she was clumsy. Hana cocked her head to the side not sure if she should question the topic any further. Perhaps being unkillable makes one have a lack of awareness to normal behavior? makes sense.

Hana winced as she placed her hand to red hot coloration expecting there to be a yelp, but alas nothing . Koroko seemed to be lacking a awareness of danger and pain that would've affected the average person. Only giving a "hehe" and "oops" to what would have sent someone else to the hospital or yowling. Hana accepted the piping hot beverage blowing ceremoniously blowing three times before taking a small sip. She gave a delighted Ah, and gingerly placed tea back down on the coaster. She was brimming with high hopes while Akira on the other hand was still mentally digesting everything.

"So anyway, you all came here for a reason right? You have club admission forms, but was it really just to see whether or not I was telling the truth? Don't you wanna join at all? It's okay if you don't have ESP; this club focuses on researching about espers too, and we can have fun doing other things too if you want. W-What do you think?" Koroko ended, her gaze all the while shifty and apprehensive. Hana of course had much to say she inhaled deeply and then exhaled as Goth-chan cut her off with her own introduction.

"I'm Uranaishi Ninchi." Goth-chan said, she apparently did have a name after all. She continued on using the doodle as her introduction beginning with a joke? Maybe? The real Ninchi was maintaining her normal emotionless gaze to it was hard to determine. Hana nodded along with Uranaishi-chan as she explained her vague ability, clearly buying 100% into it. Akira of course was a bit more of a skeptic. Finding one psychic was an anomaly enough, two of them? There was better luck of a homeless man becoming prime minister. Akira perked up an eyebrow as she threw a lazy wave at him, what was she talking about? cheating boyfriend? with whom? Then it hit him. "Uranaishi-Sempai, I'm not her boyfriend, please don't tell such jokes with a deadpan expression... you'll give people the wrong impression" Akira calmly interjected, it took some time but it seemed he had finally collected his thoughts together.

He walked to Senai Koroko and polity lowered his head before speaking. "I owe you an apology, Senai-Sempai... I thought you were just making things up about your ESP at first and got angry." Akira said raising his head and giving a deep exhale. "Let me start this over again, My name is Yoshida Akira, Fifteen years old and a first year..." Akira said purposefully slowing down his words. He closed one of his eyes and focused on outside the club rooms window, there was a trio of crows lazing on a telephone wire just past the softball field. That'll do he thought as he prepared his demonstration, focusing he took control of the middle most crow and made it take flight towards the club's window. "As for my powers..." He started to say drifting off as he made the crow land on the window sill "its sort of that..." he finished pointing to the window as the crow tapped loudly on glass. "I can control birds, I'm a bird-boy" Akira said grinning in embarrassment. It wasn't invincibility but it was something at least.

Koroko's face slowly began to light up with excitement as Uranaishi explained her ESP. Not a single hint of doubt was present on her face as she soaked in the information like a child listening to a riveting story. "Wow~!" she exclaimed. "I don't really get it, but that sounds amazing!"

Truly, the girl's explanation had been a tad complicated for the simple-minded Senai Koroko to understand in full, but she would argue that she caught the gist of it. She'd already bookmarked several webpages on her home computer about espers and different types of ESP, but nothing was coming to mind from what she'd heard so far. She made a mental note to go through all of them again as she looked over the poster she'd been handed.

And then there were the other two, whom she was surprised to hear weren't actually dating, considering what she'd observed of their relationship and the use of first name on the boy's part. It was good thing she hadn't asked herself, she thought silently as the boy, Yoshida Akira if she'd remembered correctly, approached her.

The sudden bow and apology was certainly not what she was expecting, and sent her immediately into a flustered panic. "N-N-No, you don't have to-! I mean- that's- um, I-I understand where you're coming from because I wouldn't believe me either since there's no proof and I'm already known in this school for being a liar so it's okay!" Her hands rapidly waved around as she stammered and rambled on, then calmed as she voice fell into a small whisper. "P-Please, there's nothing to apologize for, so raise your head..."

He did so, and promptly began to introduce himself. Yoshida Akira had certainly made a bigger impact on her than anyone else in the room, and she found herself paying stalwart attention as he began to demonstrate his ESP. By the end of the display, her eyes were as wide as saucers, almost shimmering in the evening sun. "Ahhhhhh~!" An excited squeal left her lips, rising in intensity the more she realized what was happening. Once it arrived to sit at the windowsill, her chair nearly fell over with the force of her leaping to her feet and dashing for it. Like a child at the zoo, she excitedly inspected the crow from behind the glass at every possible angle, marveling at its obedience with no doubt in her mind that his words were genuine.

"Oh, wow! Oh, WOW~!!!" She whipped around and made for Akira, forcibly gripping his hands in both of hers while showing him a huge smile. "You're amazing, Yoshida-kun! That is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" She released him and turned to face the rest of the room, a sudden gentleness overtaking her expression. "Espers...real, honest-to-goodness espers..." she whispered, seeming on the verge of tears.

And it seemed an apt prediction, as she suddenly collapsed to her knees, hugging herself with a smile that she couldn't erase no matter how hard she tried. "I'm not alone... I'm not alone anymore... This must be a dream..."

That day, the student council president of Nōryoku Academy, working diligently into the evening with the rest of her fellow students, suddenly sprouted a small smile on her face as she looked over a series of documents that had arrived not long after school had ended.

"Huhhhh~ Is that so?"

"What is it, President?" The vice president pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he posed the question, taking notice of her sudden pause in work flow.

The president shook her head. "Oh, nothing. It's just always a nice feeling when your investments pay off, that's all." The series of papers were passed along to be reviewed and/or archived as she returned to her work. As they passed him though, the vice president couldn't help his curiosity and inspected them.

They were unmistakably club reports, the kind that the student council had asked every club president to submit either daily or weekly, depending on if any major changes to their club occur. The sheet on top of the small stack seemed to be what caught the president's attention, so he gave it a closer look.

[Club Report:
Club Name: ESP Club
Club President: Senai Koroko (2nd Year, Class B)
Report Type (Daily/Weekly): Daily

Nature of Report: Guess what, Takaoka-san! I gained three new members just now! Their applications should be attached to this report, so please take a look and tell me what you think!
-Koroko]

The vice president blinked in confusion, not just at the strange familiarity with which the ESP Club's president referred to the student council president with, but at the fact that such a club even received more members in the first place, and in a single afterschool period, no less. The club had gone on two weeks of failure to produce sufficient members, and a meeting had been held that day to discuss the abolishment of certain clubs, the ESP Club included. And yet, miraculously, Senai Koroko had managed to produce enough members to operate as an official club.

Well, that was only if the supposed "new members" were approved by the student council. And judging by the brief glance over their applications, the vice president was hardly impressed. Just as he turned to argue this point with the president-

"All of them are approved."

She'd cut him off without even so much as a glance in his direction, the smile on her face having remained even as she focused on other matters. But the vice president wouldn't allow such a careless decision to be made without proper consideration, especially when there existed clubs, proper clubs, in need of rooms that are currently being taken up by such silly nonsense like the ESP Club.

"President, they're-"

"I know," she interjected again. "But they seem like a good bunch. Though judging by their track records, it seems like Senai-san will have her work cut out for her." The vice president couldn't muster a reply, utterly defeated by the president's confident smile accentuating her already gorgeous features. With her fingers laced together and chin resting on her knuckles, the president looked down at the club application form submitted by Koroko two weeks ago like a mother watching her child from afar. "Good for you, Senai-san..."

Her whisper was not heard by the vice president. No one heard it, in fact. But somehow, someway, as if it were the work of ESP of its own, the smile of Senai Koroko, walking home after one of the best days of her entire life, had grown just a bit wider.

Episode 2: Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a School Uniform?
"Haa... Haa... Haa..."

The footfalls of a high school student pounded against the concrete sidewalk in a hurried rush. People were dodged, obstacles were avoided, and the piece of toast hanging from her lips flopped about with her movements.

All in all, it was a typical day for Senai Koroko.

Only this time, she wasn't alone.

"Haa... Haa... Damn...! That broad can really run...haa...haa...huh, Aniki?"

"No...haa...no kiddin'! How the hell...haa...haa... is she goin' so fast..."

"If...haa...haa...if we don't catch her soon Aniki, people...are gonna notice us!"

"I know they're gonna notice us, dumbass!!! That's why we're wearing ski masks!!!"

"Aniki...you don't have to be so mean..."

"Just hurry up and keep following her while I go around!!! If she's headin' for that school, then we'll cut her off!"

"R-Right!"

The pair of men that had been trailing the girl for the last several blocks had been getting their fair share of strange looks, but compared to seeing a girl be hit by a truck and spring up moments later, two guys running at full speed in ski masks was nothing to write home about. As such, they were mostly ignored as they went about their business and split up.

Senai Koroko was on her way to school.

Though for the first time, she wasn't as late as she usually was. Perhaps the excitement from having gained three new members (she at first wondered if it was a dream upon waking up this morning), had spurred her to wake up on time for once. With those thoughts in mind, she made a mad sprint for school the same as any other day, too excited to even properly eat her breakfast.

Her heart beat rapidly as images of all of the fun times she would have with her clubmates began to fill her mind, as well as images of graduating with her new friends, going to college, staying in touch, and eventually getting married and settling down with three children...

Koroko's face began to grow hot as she realized she would need to find a boyfriend first. Perhaps now that she'd made that first step to future happiness, the prospect of finding the perfect guy wasn't so far away after all. Perhaps she would even meet such a person in the very high school she attended! The thought made her heart beat just a bit faster as the possibilities became clearer to her. All of a sudden, she found herself wondering just what her prince charming might look like.

But before she could continue that line of thinking, her nose suddenly crashed into someone's torso. The force of the impact knocked her on her rear, but only one of them grunted in pain. Instead, Koroko merely looked up, ready to apologize, only to pause at the sight before her. Tall, dark, and staring at her with an intense, yearning gaze...

The ski mask was a bit much though.

"Finally...haa, haa...got you!"

"Um, I'm sorry for bumping into you. I was in such a rush that I wasn't paying attention, and-"

"Who cares about that! Just...c'mere!"

The man extended a gloved hand out towards her, and Koroko realized that, though the man seemed a bit curt, he was offering to help her up like a perfect gentleman. Instantly, her face went deep red as she meekly offered her own hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet.

Was he the prince charming she'd just been imagining? Had another miracle befallen her? Was her high school life about to-

"Er...what are you doing?"

"I'm tying you up."

"Oh. Okay."

Was this what people did in relationships nowadays? No wait, they hadn't started dating yet. First she had to confess her feelings right? That was how it went in the shoujo manga she'd read, at least.

"Um...S-Senpai. I don't know your name yet, but...I think...I've fallen in love with you!"

"W-What the hell are you saying?! And who's your Senpai?! Just hold still, girl!"

"But I really do think I've fallen for you, Senpai! My heart's beating so fast, and my face is really warm right now..."

As proof of her affections, Koroko did not resist as the man tied up her arms and legs with thick rope. She still didn't really know what was going on, but maybe this was just his way of returning her feelings?

Soon, a second man wearing a ski mask and dark clothes approached, panting on his hands and knees as he struggled to catch his breath.

"There you are! What took you so long, dumbass?!"

The man held a hand up as he continued panting, but eventually responded. "Sorry...haa, haa...she...she was too fast, Aniki..."

"Jeez, you're so useless! I shoulda just took this job myself and got the whole cut. Hurry up and bring the car around so we can get outta here."

"Y-You want me...to go get the car...?"

"That's what I just said, you moron!!! Now hurry up and go!!!"

"R-Right..." The man put on a pitiful face as he turned to run away, looking more exhausted than ever. After he'd disappeared around the block, the other one spoke again.

"Now you don't get any stupid ideas, girl. There's no one around to call for help. You're staying right here with me."

Koroko felt herself swoon from his bold words. "S-Senpai...!"

"I told you already, I'm not your Senpai!!! Seriously, what is wrong with you?!"

"But I love you, Senpai! Don't you love me too?"

"Hell no!!! Christ, I figured you were a weirdo, but I didn't think it'd be this bad!"

"By the way, Senpai. Was that other person your brother?"

"Yeah. He's an idiot and a half, but he's not a bad perso-, WAIT! Stop changing the subject!"

"Then what do you want to talk about, Senpai?"

"Nothing!!! Just shut up and stay still!"

"But...aren't we going to school, Senpai? Ah, is your uniform under that dark sweater?"

"I'm starting to think you're doing this on purpose! Do you even understand the situation you're in?!"

"...??"

A black car suddenly swerved around the block and pulled up next to them, interrupting the rest of the conversation. The man quickly hoisted Koroko up, much to her embarrassment, and stuffed her inside the back seat of the car. Just as she opened her mouth to speak again, he placed a strip of tape over it, reducing her words to muffled noises. "Alright, now let's go to the hideout already." he said as she shuffled into the passenger seat. His partner nodded wearily, and the car shot off.

Senai Koroko, ever unlucky, had just been kidnapped.

Uranaishi behaved similarly flabbergasted at Bird-Boy, regarding the display with just as much skepticism as she was so used to facing. As Koroko fawned, Uranaishi prodded the animal herself. In the end before the three departed, she gave the underclassman an even handed, "Cool." Not any good with... emotions... she made an excuse to leave after their club president's unsettling, gushing outburst. It wouldn't have really been necessary if Uranaishi didn't understand, and even harbor a bit of that feeling herself. It was relief from a pressure she'd grown very accustomed to.

"Yeah. I guess that's apt. Relief." She droned at the epiphany that she really wasn't alone at no one in particular, while walking home alone. She stopped at her usual dive: an arcade. Several hours were spent on Avenue Attacker 5, Residence of the Unlived, and a crank game she still couldn't get the skeletal Kirby™ plushie out of, even after so many tokens. It was night by the time she lumbered out with somehow even more tired eyes. She stared up at the long path to the city's outskirts she'd have to trudge, to the shadowy horizon of hilly trees, and sighed all the way.
-----
"Hand me an item you've had with you all day."

The next day, when the newly made members reconvened after another day of academics, Uranaishi had gotten tired of waiting on their pres. The 2nd year explained that she wanted to prove herself just as Bird-Boy had, even if she had to do so again when Koroko arrived. She had her palm open to Hana. "Oh. And it doesn't work without yen. About... 500 yen."

(OOC) Will add/edit previous day in later, its saved aside but incomplete.

The Next Day

"So how long is your Father going to be gone for?" Hana asked as she walked beside Akira. It had been a long but uneventful day at school, the classes all glossed over into what was a long day. Akira and Hana really were only looking forward to their new club activities today. "He said just a week... though" Akira said as he stared at his wallet, the large wad of Yukichi Fukuzawa were seeming glaring up at him in disapproval and he somewhat agreed with them all to well. "I think the value of money is lost on my father" Akira said wincing, "I think thats just his way of showing he cares" Hana said purposefully bumping into Akira as she walked beside him in the hall. It was about then that the duo had reached the ESP club room only to find Goth-chan Uranaishi Ninchi already there waiting for them. They listened to the explanation and Akira was almost willing to try until Uranaishi requested money.

"What are you some Gothic coin operated gypsy?" Akira asked clearly still skeptical "YOSHIDA!" Hana yelled elbowing him in the ribs before and going to Ninchi's side "Don't mind him Uranaishi-Sempai, we can cast a curse on him later..." she said giving the upperclassmen a small consoling hug. "Here, I grabbed his phone" Hana said as she handed off the device to Uranaishi with a fresh 500 yen coin piece on the screens surface. Akira looked dumbfounded and then patted his pockets with a "Whe-" only to be shushed as Hana watched for Ninchi to do her thing.

"I just might take you up on the offer, Ianes-chan." The phone was judged of weight, flipped around and end over end as if it might just be a cheap replica. The coin had disappeared into a skirt pocket in that time. "Solid choice. No one's ever without their phones close by. Though..." She trailed off as she stared at the black screen. Her gaze focused, brows furrowed hard in an intense stare. "Chiiiiii~..." A low chime drummed from her bored frown. The boy's phone was bore down on by an intense channel of energy...!

Then, her features relaxed, nails flicking over the powered on screen as she tried a random combination at unlocking the phone. It failed of course. "Tch. Worth a shot... I forgot what I was saying. Alright alright, for real this time."

She said that, and yet nothing really changed. She didn't do anything, or chant, or even seem to focus as she had before when simply trying to finish a sentence. She relaxed more, really, her gaze becoming sleepy and half-lidded as it wandered about the phone. There was an awkward, prolonged moment of silence. Uranaishi seemed immune to the prying eyes of the two, or as if she could be poked and not notice. The odd 2nd year was far, far away from the quiet little clubroom.

"I... see... darkness." Uranaishi proclaimed, voice deepening with an intensity befitting the statement. Then it picked back up. "Yeah lots of time in pockets. Purses. That's what I'm seeing. I forgot why phones are a hassle some times." More staring. More Ianes staring at Uranaishi staring at a blank phone. Then, a brow on the girl hiked up. "Clash of Clans? Seriously?" Her head waggled slightly, a very judgmental sigh escaping. "And just after you turn away your buds with good taste in time-sink games." Uranaishi blinked some, and didn't speak for a while. "Dark dark dark. Classes classes classes. Messaging very helpful Ianes-chan here to pay attention in class... asking her out for some tempura chicken... probably after these club duties, huh?" Eyebrows were wiggled, but she moved on quickly as more surprise crossed her. "Yoshi-kun, my kouhai... you object to a wee bit of yen for your sempai..." She blinked, all at once returning to the room. She cocked her head at Akira, finger tapping at her chin as the phone was offered back to him. "... When you have 86,000 for groceries. For this week alone? Tch tch tch..."

Koroko, Where Art Tho Koroko?

Akira flustered snatched the offered phone back. He looked at the screen of the phone to see if she managed to break his password to find all this information. Nope, nada. He stared up to Uranaishi resisting the urge to call her a fake or phony, or ask how she knew all that. Akira just stood there trying hard to think of some logical way she could have pulled it off as Hana was beaming a wide smile mouthing Your Not Alone to him as she pulled on Uranaishi giving her a small congratulatory hug "That amazing Uranaishi-Sempai, Ah! but the meal happened last night, it was delicious. " she said letting go of as she corrected Goth-chan, her hands interlocking behind her back as she backed away "I live across the street so I keep him company from time to time, also he's a good..." she thought about her answer for a moment "Housewife? I guess?"

"Ianes-chan... would you stop saying things that complicate situations..." Akira said in complaint a hand pinching his forehead, he breathed out a defeated sigh before turning to Uranaishi and properly addressing her. "I'll admit I'm a bit less skeptical but not entirely sold, consider it a probation period" he said crossing his arms while trying hard not to sound like a poor loser. "Hoo... Is that a chink in your armor I see?" Hana teased grinning as she began to elbow him lightly. "I'm taking away your side dish for the next two dinners" Akira stated flatly as he stood motionless to the ribbing. "WHAT!?! Noooooooooo!" Hana yelled crumpling to the floor in a dramatic display. "You can always just eat at your parents place... you mooch..." Akira spat dryly ignoring the distraught Hana weeping crocodile tears on the ground. "But Dad is bad at cooking and Mom keeps making bowls of green peppers... I NEED MEAT!" Hana complained clutching Akira shirt with both hands as she pleaded for forgiveness.

"Alright, you can have your sides back if you cut the act..." Akira said as he stared down at Hana, she grinned and stood up immediately with a cheerful smile. "Hana and I are simply close friends, we forget to use honorific's and our family names. I know it can be misleading, but shes more a parasite then a date" Akira explained bluntly his tone exhausted. "Was that last part really needed?" Hana snapped back squinting her eyes at Akira to which he quickly responded "Yes, yes it is!"

"Anyway... where is Senai-Sempai?"
Akira said changing the subject. "Yeah, that is odd she hasn't showed up yet..." Hana said looking around as if she was hiding in some corner of the club room. "I figured our club leader would've been the most excited for today..." she finished her words trailing off as more a open ended question then a sentence.

Quest: Koroko, Where Art Thou Koroko?
[ ] Find the Club President!
(Optional: Do so before organ loss. EXP Bonus +25)

"So close." The dreary girl said to the bickering duo, her doubts made apparent one final time before relenting. "Alright. If Ianes-chan says you're just the housewife, I'll have to think of you so."

While Hana scoured the room for a hiding club president, Uranaishi drifted to the seat she would be occupying. "It is a bit weird, huh? I'd figure her to the type to be here super early, with like activities or whatever. Whatever club presidents do." But nothing really came of her envisioning what may have been in that seat for the past hour or so. Nothing had been. Just an unused class room until they'd arrived and taken their seats. She blinked it away, and wondered about dinner. Tempura sounded really good all of the sudden. "Well, she didn't get here before us. Man. What a bummer." She sunk in her seat, resting her frown in a palm. "You think she got hit by a truck again?"

Quest Accepted!

"We already know a truck can't stop her" Akira said to Uranaishi Ninci "Is she sick?" Hana cocked an eyebrow "Can she even get sick?" That was a good question after all, could one that survived basaltic baseballs fall short when faced with the common cold? "Well, I don't think we're going to find the answers chatting in here" Akira said as he began to grab a pen and pape, he jotted down a note as he spoke with the two "Let's leave a note just in case Sempai is running late, and go to the teachers office to see if she was absent today..."

"MISSION START!" Hana shouted taking lead of the group "Will the heros be able to find Hime-Senai? find out next time!"

Meanwhile, just a short while ago, the student council office was just as busy as it always was. Members were rushing around, animatedly discussing various topics related to improving the school. The president sat at her usual desk, overlooking the usual documents. It seemed like another usual, boring day, at least to the vice president who often went through the same routine without much change.

However, he noticed something very peculiar. A smile was set upon the president's beautiful face.

It wasn't that she didn't enjoy her work. She often showed similar smiles while interacting with other students for school-related matters. When it came to documentation and other office-like situations such as these, however, the president usually maintained a focused, almost ice-cold expression as she diligently worked. That was why he found her smile peculiar. It was exactly on par with the smile she'd shown the previous night while looking over the club reports, particularly the one from the ESP Club.

"Pfft." Then, suddenly, she laughed. As if she'd just heard a funny joke, she covered her mouth with one hand politely to mask the noise, but since the vice president was already looking at her, he was the only one to notice.

"President," he said as he approached her. It wasn't that she wasn't allowed to laugh, but he found the situation too strange to ignore the possibility that she'd stopped working to look up an internet joke or something. "Are you alright? Don't tell me someone submitted a facetious document again..."

"No, nothing like that." She answered almost immediately, looking unperturbed at his presence, almost as if she'd expected it. "I merely remembered something. A humorous scene I saw earlier."

"A humorous scene?" the vice president echoed in confusion. Somehow, he didn't take the president for the type to watch television in her spare time. She seemed to maintain an air of esteem, one that implied that such things were not a proficient use of her time in the face of studying or her work. The idea gave him mixed emotions.

"Yes, a humorous scene indeed," she agreed. "By the way, I need to make a phone call. It's rather urgent, so could you take over for me here?"

"A phone call?" The subject change was so abrupt that he couldn't help but echo her a second time. But once he came to his senses, he nodded. "Yes, of course. Take all the time you need."

"Thank you very much." With practiced, elegant movements, the president stood up from her chair and exited the room to stand in the hallway while the vice president replaced her in her seat. The scent of roses wafted into his nose, and he realized it was the president's natural scent. Though he held no romantic feelings towards her, his feelings of admiration were just as strong, if not stronger than anyone else's in the entire school.

Thus he inhaled softly, reveling in the soft aroma, feeling as though his work efficiency would increase tenfold.

---

The student council president walked with calm, casual steps down the halls of Nōryoku Academy, exchanging cheerful greetings with every student or staff member she passed. A smile sat on her face, wider than the one she usually carried. Eventually, she came to a stop outside of a certain room.

"You think she got hit by a truck again?"

"We already know a truck can't stop her. Is she sick?"

"Can she even get sick?"

After listening to bits of their conversation, the president nodded to herself. Silently, so that those inside wouldn't hear, she began to send a text message.

"Well, I don't think we're going to find the answers chatting in here. Let's leave a note just in case Sempai is running late, and go to the teachers office to see if she was absent today... "

"MISSION START! Will the heros be able to find Hime-Senai? find out next time!"

When Hana energetically flung open the club room's door, it was to an empty hall. However, placed conspicuously in front of the door was a black cellphone, screen on and displaying a GPS app with a specific address having already been calculated. It was thirty minutes away by foot.

"Hah? The hell's this?" In the corner of the screen was a small window, displaying the face of a man wearing a black ski mask, looking confused and somewhat irritated. "Why is everything so dark? This a prank or somethin'?"

Anyone familiar with smartphones of the modern age would recognize it as the display window of a popular messaging app, currently undergoing a video call. However, a thin strip of tape had been applied over the phone's camera, making it impossible for those on the other side to see what it was displaying.

"A-Aniki...the girl we kidnapped keeps calling me 'Senpai's Brother'. Did you know her in school or something?"

"Don't just say we kidnapped a girl while we're on a video call, dumbass!!! What if they're not alone?!"

"S-Sorry..."

"Look, just keep her quiet okay? I gotta talk to this person." The owner of the second voice shuffled away as the phone adjusted before the man spoke again. "Oiii, you there? You're alone right? This is the first time we've spoken using our voices, but we did what you asked. We'll wait a few more hours, but if you don't come soon, we're leaving. You have the money ready, right?" He seemed to be waiting for a response.

The group came to a sudden halt in the hallway Hana pointed down to the ground at the phone just as Akira clapped a hand over her mouth and made a shush motion. "Hah? The hell's this?" the ski mask said, was he a criminal? "A-Aniki...the girl we kidnapped keeps calling me 'Senpai's Brother'. Did you know her in school or something?" Yep a criminal, and seeing how Senai Senpai was currently missing and this phone just so magically happened to appear obviously someone was pulling the strings. "Don't just say we kidnapped a girl while we're on a video call, dumbass!!! What if they're not alone?!" Ski mask seemed to be the one in charge and the other was slightly incompetent "S-Sorry..."

"Look, just keep her quiet okay? I gotta talk to this person." Ski mask said to the dumber thug, obviously they knew each other quite well. "Oiii, you there? You're alone right? This is the first time we've spoken using our voices, but we did what you asked. We'll wait a few more hours, but if you don't come soon, we're leaving. You have the money ready, right?" So all together Akira knew that. These men were working for another person, obvious criminals, and that this phone had been left here on purpose.

Akira could feel the strings attach to his back as he played the puppet, he picked up the phone Should he be aggressive? meek? No, these men were hired right? he should speak to them like subordinates but play it safe. With that thought in mind he borrowed his fathers tone when he was speaking with his subordinates "I'm on my way with your reward, stay where you are." He said pausing he let out a breathe and continued "Your to far to cut and run now, remember we are in this together" he reassured before hanging up the apps call. He didn't need them arguing with him or asking any questions he wouldn't have known the answers to. "There is only three possible answers right now, either this is a sick prank being played on us." Akira said holding up a single digit. "A random stranger has been kidnapped at this location." Akira said turn the phones gps to them with a second finger out. "Or this is Senai Koroko... which is more likely due to this phones sudden appearance" Akira said with his third and final finger.

"Someone is pulling the strings, and we're the puppets. Regardless we're saving Koroko... If the police got involved... the government might find out." Akira stated be for he handed the phone to Uranaishi "Here, if you can tell me who put this here then I'll believe you." "Why?" Hana asked "They're trying to help us aren't they?"

"Even so I want to know" Akira said handing next a 500 yen piece, he doubted it was required to trigger her ESP but he wasn't going to argue over it.

Uranaishi had grown a speculative half grimace at the strange circumstances. There was a pause as the thought of complete non-action was implied, but she accepted the offerings with a roll of the eyes. "I don't like any of those three options, Authentic-Kidnapper-Impersonator...-kun. But. Ehhk... police involvement... definitely don't want to get all 1st-year biology'd if we can help it."

The phone was as expensive as a disposable phone could be. Was it disposable? A scruffy Perfect Purchase employee was putting it on a hook during morning inventory. The price tag didn't seem disposable. Uranaishi shook her line of questioning. She didn't really have time to wait for whoever'd purchased it. When she stared down into it again, flipping it around some, she instead wondered simply at who'd been holding it an hour ago. "This might take a while." She droned to the two she was only vaguely recalling were waiting on her. "It's a bit harder when I don't have many de- oh. Nevermind."

A student she was familiar with came to her. It was a girl sitting in the student council office, discussing something Uranaishi didn't worry to clear up at the moment. Snapshots of her day came in broad, blurry messes. One of them was of her bending down and setting it gently where Hana had eventually found it. "I'm pretty certain," Uranaishi blinked them all away, handing the curious phone back to Akira , "this belongs to the Student Council President. Yeah. Weird, huh?" She shrugged. "I didn't vote for her."

"I'm pretty certain," Uranaishi started as she handed back the phone to Akira,"this belongs to the Student Council President. Yeah. Weird, huh?" She shrugged. "I didn't vote for her."

"Of course, the student council president..." Akira said with a smile before turning to Hana "Who's that?"

"You've seen her once at opening ceremony, she gave a speech..." Hana said turning to Akira in disbelief. "Eh? I don't remember it..." Akira said pondering, he couldn't really remember opening ceremony that well. Was that the night he didn't sleep to raise his rank to platinum in League? Something of the sort, he just recalled falling asleep in his chair and Hana waking him up later.

"No you simply don't remember the names and faces of people that don't interest you!" Hana said prodding Akira in the chest "So" she continued with additional prodding "Whats the plan?"

"Save Senai-Sempai of course, Student Council can wait till later..." Akira said with hands out in surrender. "They don't seem to be the patient type so we need to hurry. Though I'll need a suitcase for this to work" Akira said as turned to gather his belongings from the club room, there was no point in staying there any longer after all. "Uranaishi-Sempai, I wont't hold it against you if you don't want to come. This is reckless even with a plan." Akira said, weighing the risks. He hardly knew this Sempai, he would also would've liked to keep Hana away from this danger but knowing Hana... Yeah, she would do something without him if he tried to leave her behind. With his bag in tow and Hana already gathering her own he started towards the door and turned to Uranaishi once more "Whats your decision?"
