Plot
βββββ β¦ βββββ
Thirteen individuals from all walks of life have been chosen by fate to replace the once mighty Greek gods. Upon reaching Olympus, they discover their new home is in ruins - they'll have to restore it themselves. As they restore it, they find bits and pieces of the old gods, learning of their fate. Each previous Olympian died of a tragic cause relating to the force they governed.
Olympus is comprised of a few main areas.
The Obsitus Garden
βββββ β¦ βββββ
Originally a beautiful, flourishing garden filled with flowers native only to Olympus as well as earthly ones. The climate within the garden was always a comfortable, warm temperature, with occasional rain showers when the garden was unoccupied. The garden was circled by twelve large pillars, with a small pond in the middle. Shimmering fish darted across the pond while lily pads floated on the surface. Now, the pillars have nearly crumbled, and the garden is unkempt - some areas having grown too much while others not growing enough. Any plant life has wilted or is barely clinging onto life.
The Amphitheatre
βββββ β¦ βββββ
A semicircle of a large amount of seats surrounding an open marble floor. Many events happened here, such as live poetry and musical performances. It never rained here, and the sun would create a warm and comfortable atmosphere where anyone could remain. Currently, the amphitheatre is eerily silent, faint echoes of what used to happen here bouncing off the seats. Clouds loom over the area, causing it to feel dark and unwelcoming.
The Abandoned Abodes
βββββ β¦ βββββ
Twelve buildings stood in a square, three buildings on each side. Standing in the center, to the north lay the cabins of Poseidon, Zeus, and Hera. Zeus' cabin was the largest, towering above Poseidon and Hades' cabins. To the east lay the cabins of Athena, Apollo, and Demeter. To the west: Ares, Artemis, and Dionysus. Finally, the southernmost cabins belong to Hephaestus, Hermes, and Aphrodite. In the middle of the square of cabins sits Hestia's hearth. Hades home is absent, for he lived in the underworld - and when he visited Olympus, he resided in the cabin of the Olympian he favored the most. Now, the majority of these homes lay in ruins, though some buildings are still intact and can easily be rebuilt.
The Council Room
βββββ β¦ βββββ
A circle of seats surround a large marble table, each seat previously adorned with one of the symbols of each of the gods. Hades had a seat at this table, despite not frequently appearing at meetings. He was at the last meeting before the gods dropped like flies. The room currently sits with a similar eerie emptiness to the amphitheatre, though this emptiness harbors a sense of impending doom.
Rules & Requirements

β₯ This roleplay is minor friendly! If you're an adult who is uncomfortable roleplaying with those under the age of eighteen (which is valid and understandable), this roleplay is not for you.
β₯ Be friendly & kind OOC. The goal of this roleplay is not only to bring forth a new set of gods, but to bring forth a new set of friends. Don't take what's said IC to heart, characters have rivalries but that doesn't mean you have to! If something goes wrong, speak up!
β₯ Be willing to brainstorm and plot! While there is some semblance of a plot given to you here, I'd like to hear your ideas to help the story! Everyone playing gets to help decide the fate of the god their character is replacing as well as develop relationships with the new gods.
β₯ Basic fluency in English. Minor grammar mistakes and spelling errors are fine, but please have a decent grasp on English.
β₯ The ability to post 2 times a week, minimum with at least 1-3 paragraphs in your post - give the person you're roleplaying with something to respond to. More is always appreciated! Please try and let me know in advance if you can't continue for any reason, I'll write your character out of the story. If your absence is unexpected, you'll be given a 2 week grace period before your character is written out.
β₯ Be accepting & LGBTQ+ friendly! Because the characters will not be siblings in this roleplay due to being replacements of the old gods, anyone can date anyone. All types of ships are allowed, including polyamorous ships.
β₯ Basic rules: no godmodding/metagaming, no killing another character off without permission from me and the person who's character you'd be killing, etc..
β₯ Have fun, get creative!
Extra Information
βββββ β¦ βββββ
β₯ You don't need to have any knowledge of coding, pretty responses are not necessary. As long as they're legible, that's all you need!
β₯ Discord is not required at the moment. This may change, but the current plan is to have 4 threads. This interest check, a brainstorming/plotting thread, a character thread, and an in character thread. If a group private message is preferred for brainstorming/plotting, we can do that too. Whatever the majority wants, I can accommodate to a certain extent.
β₯ I am looking for: 5 people to double up & play 2 gods each (I'll play 3).
β₯ Characters should not have the name of the god they are replacing. This is a reminder that they are replacing the old gods, not inheriting their names or history.
β₯ Characters are not first come, first serve. I'd rather have a well rounded character than one that is only flaws or only strengths.
β₯ Characters should be 18 at least & original, not from a fandom. Preferred age is early 20s, but 18-19 are welcomed too!

If you're interested, say so below & share some ideas for the character you'd like to play! This includes (but is not limited to), ideas for how their predecessor died or their personality/mannerisms! Also, let me know what to call you, your pronouns, and whether you'd prefer OOC chatter to happen on Discord, in a thread, or a group private message!
This is in part inspired by Percy Jackson, but I hope the ideas are original enough that even those not in the fandom will enjoy!
Ask any questions you may have, this is obviously a WIP idea because I'd like to develop this with the group I select!
