Ren Hirogami (Blackjack)

25fbcacf313fc8eba494e4cb84fde6d0--art-drawings-anime-guys.jpg
Ren had to admit, he was startled when he received a text from the random highschool kid he’d flirted with a week ago. Granted, the long dreadlocks made him think he’d been talking to a tall, dark-skinned, beauty rather than a boy. Not that Ren minded all that much. The gender of his partners wasn’t a moral issue for him. Nor age. He didn’t have many moral issues in general.

'Eating ice cream.'

'Watched on old man get mugged.'

'That’s ‘bout it.'

'And u? Anything interesting going on?'

Typing the words quickly with one hand, Ren tossed the remainder of the cone in his mouth before leaning forward and continuing to browse the net for anything interesting. He didn’t get an immediate reply so he figured Akane was busy.

“Oh! It’s the death-versary of a hero called Odysseus.” Humming to himself, Ren continued to read aloud. “Died six years ago…friends and fans are grieved…yada yada…lover works at Shiketsu Academia, second best Hero School in Japan…huh.”

There was more on the news about UA, so Ren couldn’t say he put too much thought on an establishment like Shiketsu. Though, the reviews on the school weren’t bad at all. It churned out a decent number of popular heroes as well. Stretching, Ren was about to slouch back in the chair when another message drew his attention…this one of the villainy kind.

Smirking, Blackjack slipped this phone into his pocket, peeled off his sunglasses, and sauntered off into the dark alleys of Tokyo where villains like him made their home.

Jasmine Setsuki (Team Two)

5b658c48796ebaf175c479981ce1b8bf.jpg

10 minutes after Team 2’s introduction.

“…that’s the plan then.”

No need to overcomplicate strategies. Since Jasmine’s quirk was time-limited, she didn’t want to force the germination of her mandrake until either Master Bang or Amenouta-sensei were in place. Stepping to the forest, while sticking close to Akane and Yuuta for safety, Jasmine breathed in the scent of nature. It might because of her genes, or her mother, but Jasmine liked places with a lot of vegetation.

Given that her mandrakes were part plant, they probably felt comfortable in the chosen testing area as well. They also blended in with the all the greenery…which was nice.

Kneeling down on a grassy patch, Jasmine opened up her backpack and pulled out a pillbox with various compartments for different days of the week. However, instead of pills, it contained mandrake seeds. She didn’t have many left on her. Only four. If she’d known that she’d be tested on her first day, she would’ve brought more—seeds that she made using certain DNA that she’d saved up instead of growing.

Leftovers from her days at UA.

Picking one of the seeds, Jasmine let it sit in her palm as breathed pink dust on it. What emerged was a mandrake made from the DNA of a UA student—one who tended to shed his hair everywhere. Jasmine had collected quite a bit from him.

green-bat-b.jpg

“Wowie, wow! It’s good to be alive, Ruff!”

Jasmine watched the mandrake flutter around, exploring its surroundings. A mandrake with the nose of a dog and the ears of a bat might be able to find Amenouta-sensei. Its senses weren’t as sharp as Harata-kun’s, nor could it fire sonic waves by barking the way Harata-kun did, but Jasmine had faith in her mandrakes. Either way, it had 15 minutes before Jasmine killed it.

Hopefully it came back before then.

“I need you to find either Amenouta-sensei or Master Bang.”

Harata-kun’s mandrake nodded along as Jasmine gave her best verbal description of the voices and physical description of her teachers. It would’ve been nice if the mandrake had the chance to catch the scent of her teachers, but Bang and Amenouta had already gone into the forest while they were strategizing. It was the best she could do. Once Jasmine finished, the mandrake saluted.

“Leave it to me!” Then flew off into the woods.

Splitting up and scouring the forest would shorten their time even further, but who knew what sort of traps the teachers had planned beyond the trees and…Jasmine was pretty useless without her mandrakes with her. Therefore she stuck with Akane and Yuuta for now. She looked to Yuu. “If you need any help preparing, let me know.”

Felix "Ninth Life"
Felix had slept his way through the final moments of the bus, he was a cat at heart after all and he liked to nap. It took him a moment before he fully woke up, missing out on being the first one out of the bus and settling by being the drowsiest final person off of it. He was still groggy when Dark Side was explaining the new teams, he could only catch the disappointment that he would no longer be with Jono and Arietty... He now had this Swanson person and the midget who kicked Bang in the balls. Felix let out a sigh, he had really gotten to know those two as well, he was really looking forward to seeing Arietty in action and what Jono could actually do.

When he saw Arietty come forward to him, he was going to be dismissive and assume she was too stupid to realize Dark Side had changed the teams. He was especially dull after naps, he had not even realized they were in a forest right now. When he saw Katherine with Arietty, he realized something really quickly and gave himself a good mental facepalm. Swanson was Arietty... He thought to himself when he remembered that Dark Side referred to him as Tora, his last name. This grasp made him excited again, he was actually kind of curious about what the midget had to offer and with a simple name like Kiki, Felix was not going to forget. The Feline snapped out of his post-slumber soberness, he was back to being the bombastic cat.

"Good to meet'cha, Kiki! You are in good hands, you are looking at the fastest student in class A, meow!"

Felix took this moment to realize where they were, a forest! Could things just could not get any better: here he was with the number two and three ranks, in a forest, with this much energy? He was getting real ready to see himself climbing a couple of ranks after this.

"Hell yeah this is great!" He responded to Arietty's cheer. "Here in the great outdoors, surrounded by trees, I don't think we can lose this!"

Max, perhaps unlike him, was rather silent for the majority of the bus trip. Maybe that was because he was a little grumpy because of the fact that somehow people managed to get on the bus before him and his partner. Maybe it was because the jet lag was really starting to kick in at that point. All he knew was, he spent most of the ride snoring loudly with his head against the window instead of planning, like seemingly everyone else was doing.

That was fine though. Apparently. Since as soon as everyone got off the bus again, the teachers decided they were altering the deal. Max prayed they wouldn't alter it any further. The American yawned loudly as he got off the bus, gazing around at the assembling group with tired grumpiness as the teachers decided that they were going to switch up the groups or something. Slowly, he swept his eyes back and forth, now attempting to see who might fit with the fresh new names he had just been given. Hopefully, someone would actually recognize him first.

Pays to be a stand-out individual. Supposedly.

Okay. New blokes. Literally who? Max thought to himself, beady eyes narrowing into slits as he once again prepared to play a guessing game. One of those names was distinctly not Japanese, so that made things a little easier on a visual level. The other one? Anything goes. He could just gravitate towards the nearest person that also seemed like a foreigner and hope that whomever they were knew who their last partner was supposed to be. At the very least, he wasn't on a gimped team anymore. Unless one wanted to count the fact that some of the teams had four people.

The heck kind of name is Von-whatever, anyway?

Max let out another yawn; if his brain were some sort of machine, currently it was venting smoke from a blowout. Screw jet lag. Screw planes.

Actually, yeah. Screw the guessing game too.

Max threw up his hand, letting out a loud yawn as he did. Literally no reason not to just keep things simple at this point. "OKAY, GROUP THREE OVER HERE," he shouted, raising his voice over the growing chatter of the other students and sections, "AND ALSO A COFFEE."

Akane

848e592cf62fcd066bd296fc122be9f5.jpg

Hearing a notification bell for his phone, Akane reached into his pocket, locked the phone's power button and used it to turn it off. He knew it was probably Ren and decided he would talk to him after the test was over. Looking back at Yuuta, he nodded when the shorter male mentioned strategy. Over the next 10 minutes they came up with a plan that Akane was decently sure would be somewhat successful. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a hair tie and tied his hair up into a ponytail. Sticking close to Jasmine and Yuuta, he kept a close eye on their surroundings. He was very likely the best in terms of offense in their team so he needed to remain vigilant in case they need to fight.

Noticing Jasmine kneeling down and taking out what Akane assumed to be the mandrake eggs. Moving a bit closer, he observed as the mandrake emerged and spoke which made Akane impressed. After Jasmine had given the mandrake orders and the creature flew away, Akane shot a quick smile at the girl. Her quirk really was impressive and interesting. Cracking his knuckles, he returns his gaze to his surroundings.

"Your quirk is pretty cool." He said to the girl though he wasn't looking at her.

Yuuta was pretty confident that their plan would work. Though, he has to be extra careful right now. He shouldn't act reckless. since the 'villain' would be overwhelmingly strong. Remember, Yuuta. Your enemy is Master Bang. Don't do anything unusual. Just go according to plan. He reminded himself. Plan C is the only plan where he should try to act selfishly, even if it means abandoning his teammates. The objective is more important than his life. Well, that's a little bit exaggerated, but he had to at least rise up a rank or two. He didn't want to be a burden to all of his classmates.

He watched Jasmine create a mandrake, and it seemed to be pretty submissive to her. That's a good thing, but he didn't know how efficient it is. It should be enough to buy him time to set up the traps, and while doing that, also trying to look for the hostage. “If you need any help preparing, let me know.” Jasmine said, snapping him back to reality. "Oh, I'm... fine by myself." He responded truthfully while he met her gaze. "I'm off." He raised both his hands above the trees, and quickly flew off out of their sight. He didn't wait for a response as he didn't want to waste time.

Yuuta set up a few trip-wires on the air just in case. If one accidentally or intentionally ran through those, the branches attached to those wires would be cut away from the tree, therefore slowing them down for a bit depending on their reaction time. He squatted on a tall branch attached to a tree, trying to stay low and undetected. He scanned the area from above, and there was no one in sight. Still, his senses were on high alert, and his guard was up. If he were to drop his guard down for just the tiniest bit, then it would mean certain danger. He planned where he's going to set up his traps on the ground.

The bus ride was as quiet from her as her partner. Well, quieter given her lack of snoring. She simply spent the ride with an elbow propped on the side of the bus to support her head as she stared out the window. Upon arrival she trickled out with all the other students. The first bit of bad news was that she was losing her partner in favor of two new strangers. Normally she wouldn't mind, having two people was better than one. But given what the mission was, the American's quirk would have made this whole thing super easy. Well, whatever, nothing she could do about it anyways and Max had already gone off to find his new group. Watching him raise his hand and call out she figured that was probably the easiest way to do it. Plus she'd probably garner the attention of unrelated classmates, and she was never against that.

With that in mind she took a few steps forward, separating herself from the crowd before raising her hand as Max had done. In a loud voice she called out, making sure everyone around could hear her clear as day. "Mizoto~! Betancourt~! Team Four's, like, right here!" You'd think the teachers would at least let them introduce themselves before just giving them a name and saying 'figure it out'. But then it seemed like the Impotent Rage and his Trophy Wife weren't going to make this year easy or fun. A grin tugged at her lips at the thought. "At least, they can try." The words were muttered silently under her breath. It wasn't like she never dealt with hardasses before. If a couple strict teachers were all it took to keep her down she wouldn't have gotten this far anyways. Nevertheless, her desire to stick it to the old fart did have to be put on the backburner until she actually got her group together.

NanashiIt was all she could do to control the urge to lash out at anyone near her. Her muscles tensed throughout the whole ride on the bus as she strived to ensure that she didn't act on her baser instincts to tenderise the meat about her. They were all very, very, very delicious, as their scent revealed about them. There were a couple here and there that didn’t possess a delectable scent, with one of them seeming like an overdressed salad. She detected a hint of meat within the vegetables and the dressing, but to have to peel away so much unnecessary layers to get at the filling was not a Shinozaki way. The straight and narrow was the one and only way Nanashi knew how to tackle the job.

And when they announced the teams had changed, it didn't seem like too much of a hassle at all. In fact, it seemed almost too easy to rectify such an issue. To think they’d even THINK it would be considered ‘thinking on your feet’ to just change up partners! Nanashi laughed a full-bellied laugh, as if the sudden change of plans were a joke. Such a challenge wasn't even worth a lick, much less a bite. All they had to do was just power through, the three of them, and snatch that victory for their prize. The teacher’s talk about basing their points off their performance was lost on her. Even if she was intent on being a hero, would these points and ranking even matter? The end goal was the same- these bunch of ragtag hooligans were here to become heroes, and even if they ranked last, so long as they had the heart and the soul for it, what did that ranking even mean? She strode out into the open, grinning widely as usual. “Come, Shinoku-senpai, Kawaguchi-senpai, whomever you may be,” she waved her hands enthusiastically to call to their attention, “join me in this fine feast to prove that our appetites will not be quenched by meagre setbacks like a change of partners!

Jasmine Setsuki (Team Two)

5b658c48796ebaf175c479981ce1b8bf.jpg

Jasmine found her face reddening when Akane complimented her quirk. She wasn’t used to it—her mandrakes being liked that is. Coming to Shiketsu Academia had been a good choice. Thankfully the dark-skinned boy was looking away, keeping his guard up in case an obstacle appeared. She was glad to be on the same team as someone with a combat-oriented quirk. Given the nature of his quirk, how he’d scored low on the first ranking exam was a mystery to her.

“…Thank you.”

She nodded at Yuu’s response, watching the boy fly away like a ninja due to the use of his wires. It reminded her that Kazama-sensei was watching. The female teacher in charge of assigning their grades was a ninja as well. At least, that was what Jasmine deduced from seeing the kunai thrown at the late American student.

“You’re quirk is cool as well. It’ll be very useful in our current assignment.”

Jasmine meant every word of what she said. A quirk that absorbed kinetic energy and allowed the user to grow stronger with every blow was just the sort of thing she would need for an offensive mandrake. Jasmine couldn’t help wondering what sort of mandrake would be produced if she were to consume a piece of Akane’s DNA. A powerful product to be sure. Granted, Yasu’s DNA would probably taste better. Like candy.

“We have a 5 minute head start before the other teams join us,” Jasmine informed her teammate. “From how Kazama-sensei described it, this exam is more than it appears. The priority is to rescue the hostage, of course. However, there is only one hostage. Meaning, only one team can successfully rescue the hostage.”

No. Not quite right. Kazama-sensei called it a hybrid mission. In such a scenario, teams can also work together to complete the mission. However, the distribution of bonus points would obviously be smaller in that case. Rankings and prestige vs saving the hostage. Such was probably a normal dilemma for a Pro-Hero. Given that Jasmine didn’t care for spot-light, it wasn’t a dilemma she faced. However, it was also the reason she didn’t really consider herself a hero. Jasmine didn’t inspire others the way her mother or O-Rider did. She wasn’t vibrant enough.

“Speed is also something to consider in this exam. If we can’t find Master Bang or Amenouta-sensei in five minutes, it’s likely one of the other students will.”

There had been quite a bit of animal-based quirks in Class 1-A.

“Even then, there’s a chance we’ll have to face off against our fellow students if we want the bonus points...”
Jasmine glanced ahead of her into the forest. Yuu said he’d be fine on his own, but none of them knew what sort of obstacles the teachers planned. It would’ve been good if they had a way to communicate with each other. That way if any of them were in danger, or needed help, the others would know.

Jasmine’s eyes landed on the phone Akane turned off. It was certainly a communication device…and Kazama-sensei didn’t say they weren’t allowed to use gadgets during the exam.

“...Let’s exchange numbers.”

If it weren't for an assignment, Jasmine wouldn't have been brave enough to be so forward with a boy that looked like Akane did.

Bang crossed his arms and hung his head low. His eyes were shut.

His job was to be the villain for this exercise, but Bang wasn’t very good at pretending. Both he and Panko had decided to leave after Izanami’s speech, eventually disappearing into the thick forest before they had eventually found their spot. The two were surrounded by four walls - though, the room itself was rather large. There was one door in. Aside from that, there were two windows. Both of them were on the far left wall, stage right. The walls were in terrible shape; some of them were breaking apart, with sheetrock and painted debris littering the floor. Wallpaper was chipping or ripped off in various locations. One wall was made of complete glass, leading to another room with absolutely nothing in it.
Bang_webcomic.pngThe old man leaned over slightly, wrinkly long digits grasping his small sippy-cup of tea and lifting it to his lips. He had been leaning against the wall immediately next to Panko, who had been sitting in a wooden chair. Bang took a sip, holding the cup in the palm of his hand as he looked up at the slime. The woman. Slime-woman.

“There’s a lot of promise among this group, Amenouta. Some of them aren’t the smartest, others aren’t as tough. But I believe that Dark Side has done a stupendous job setting up this course. She designed it with each student in mind that had not done well in the previous test. Izanami wanted to give everybody a chance to shine...” Bang’s eyes moving from the form of the slime-woman to the contents of his cup. It was almost empty.

Bang was naturally curious in nature, though the combination of a perfect hero maintained a wit about them combined with power. More importantly, these kids needed to have enough drive to overcome all obstacles in their search for glory. Some of these students had the drive to be the best hero there ever was. Others had something to prove to themselves. Maybe a few were pushed into it by their parents, while others felt an overwhelming need to serve their country and its people. Regardless of their motivations, they made it to the best freshman class Shiketsu had to offer. It did not matter what pushed them. Each one of these students had performed well enough in the entrance exams to eventually earn their way into such a prestigious role.

Number one.

“It’s getting close to that time. The first team will start soon and we will have to see for ourselves how each student performs given Dark Side’s tasks. Are your drones in place? Do you have a way for us to watch these students’ progress as they continue on or are we doomed to sit and wait?” The old man was praying the woman had something for this. Knowing Panko, she most definitely had something up her sleeve. The professors would need to record progress to go back and rewatch footage. Considering each group of kids were leaving a few minutes apart from one another, watching the culmination of each one’s progress would be impossible for Izanami to do at once.

Johanna

She would have much preferred to plan with her team on the ride up to the location they were going to for the tests. That would have been the better plan but a lack of sleep made the bus ride more of a time for a nap. Her furry head leaned against the window as her eyes were closed as she took in light breaths. The light breaths were more akin to a puppy snoring, something that Johanna was already self-conscious about.

Her dreams would carry her back home, being on the farm and watching over the cows. It was her least favorite time of the year where she had to help her dad inseminate the cows. That meant she had to watch her dad stick his.....well just know it wasn't the most flattering thing to watch. As they got closer to the woods the smell of nature was turning her nightmarish dream into a reality and it woke her out of her dreams,"HENRY! Don't let pop make me do it!" she yelled aloud on thus bus in English, before looking around and regaining her barrings. She blinked a bit, cheeks rushing red, thankful that a lot of the students had gotten off the bus or ignored her in general.

She yawned a bit before she moved to join the others off of the bus and listened to Dark Side sensei. Something something something, dark side. She blinked listening to the woman talk. For someone who showed no emotions aside from a death stare, she sure could talk and articulate like some nerd. Most of it was just the usual teacher pep talk, but either way, it was getting her pumped. Even when she announced a change of teams, she didn't mind. She had slept the bus ride away anyways, it just meant she wouldn't have to feel guilty about not talking to her teammates.

She knew one of the names, it was Jono. Nice. She'd get the chance to work with someone she was familiar with. The other name? She was unfamiliar with, but it wasn't of the names listed off when they were testing the first day. Nor was it one of the new names on the rankings list. It clearly wasn't nanashu, and she assumed the boy who interrupted class was American. Saris didn't sound Japanese, but it didn't sound ....like any of the names she had run into in Iowa. So she guessed it was the dark skinned girl and before she moved to go grab her, Jono had approached her and sort of punched his hand. This meant he was also pumped and taking it seriously.

Ari's scent lingered strong on him, and she could only smile and open her mouth to say something but she heard her surname called out. She turned to face who, and it was darker toned girl, so clearly her assumption was right. She nodded her head towards the girl to signal Jono to come along before approaching the girl,"Saris-san? I'm Johanna and this is Jono. We could be going at any minute...do you all want to try and formulate a quick plan? Time seems to be important."

Suddenly, the American's attention was brought back to reality in whiplash-fashion. For a second there, the boy almost seemed as if he had been struck with a lightning bolt. "Wait a minute, wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute, what?" Max's ears were on fire again, though this time it wasn't due to volume. "This is a contest? A hostage rescuing contest? Hold on, lemme say that again, just in case anyone missed just how messed up that is. Hostage. Rescuing. Contest." He threw up his hands. Despite his continually animated nature, this was far from fake outrage. "You're serious? You're actually serious? Why is this a contest, why--why is saving somebody a contest? Who does that? One-hundred percent serious question. What do we learn? What's the point?" He shoved his hands against his hips, looking somewhat exasperated despite his current outward energy level.

"Look, I'll be honest, I dunno how you guys do things here, I dunno how you guys do things in Japan, whatever, but if people out here in the quote-unquote 'real world' over here are goin' around beatin' each other up over rescuing dying people or people in danger, then that is freakin' awful." Despite the fact that the woman had thrown a knife at him earlier on on the classroom, Max didn't seem to have all that much reservation about speaking up over this particular issue. He glanced back to the student that he had overheard the explanation from, before looking back to the teacher for a silent moment. "Did I hear this right? Am I goin' crazy or are people just wrong or what? Again, serious question."

Dark Side

Dark Side watched the students move to find their new teammates, grateful they handled it with grace and no complaints for the most part. She watched Bang and Panko leave and timed her stop-watch. In ten minutes she would let the first team go, and then wait for five and let the second go. Well actually, she was going just give Allison a walkie-talkie and tell her when to let the students go. Evaluation would be important, and though the cameras being set up was a nice way to review tape, she'd prefer to see how they handled things up close and person. Well, for as many teams as she could. She understood not everyone could be watched at once.

She glanced at her watch,"Team 2 can go now."

She moved over to the school nurse handing her the walkie, and explaining to her what her plans were. When she was sure she understood, she stepped towards the woods but stopped when she heard the American speak....again. She turned and looked over her shoulder dead at him,"You talk too much." and with that she disappeared off into the forest.

"Yeah? Well I don't think you care enough, so put that in your pipe and smoke it, eh?" Max shot back, seemingly somewhat infuriated at her response. "[Detention schmetention, I don't give a hoot at this point]," he muttered in his mother tongue, glaring off into the forest. That had put him in a bad mood; at the same time, however, it was perhaps a little weird that (delayed) news of what the exercise was actually supposed to be had actually managed such a strong reaction; considering the American's lighthearted nature (if you really wanted to call it that), one might think that this would simply have been viewed as a contest, same as anything else.

The boy crossed his arms, tapping his foot loudly against the grassy ground. "I swear, this is where the criticism starts, y'know? They go around teachin' people that it's all about fame and competition and all that other nonsense, and then y'know what? It actually turns into that! Wow! Freakin' novel concept, ain't it? A hostage rescuing contest, wow. Can't wait for the victim comforting contest, or the saving people from a burning building contest. Could you freakin' imagine getting a bunch'a doctors in a room and saying 'oh hey! First person to save the patient wins!' Like could you imagine the malpractice?" he continued on, seemingly fuming to himself--and anyone else around willing to listen--for several more moments. He was completely over the entire exercise, but hey, he had to do it anyway, and at that point there was more than one person that was going to be relying on him for the entire thing.

Ideally, anyway.

Letting out a loud sigh, he raised his hand again, looking about at the wider group. "CAN WE GET GROUP THREE GOIN' OVER HERE ALREADY? C'MON!"

GM POST
Yuuta's venture into the trees would prove to be a wise choice. It allowed him to skip over the ground and avoid leaving a scent, and also give him a high vantage point. When he looked ahead of him, he'd notice that the woods were thick with trees that prevented sight from above the canopy, and the sheer density of them obstructed sight ahead. The trees were dense enough that it would be impossible to continue to travel with his wires the way he was before unless he chose to go above the dense lush leaves of the trees. Below him, the ground was covered in pine needles from as far as the eye can see, though the trees he currently in were not pine trees nor could he see any pine trees close.

The rest of Team 2
Along their chosen path Team 2 runs into an extremely dense area of trees. The trees are so many and so close in proximity, that running in any direction requires avoiding a tree obstacle, but there are three semi paths going leftish, rightish, and dead center.. The trees are slim, and low hanging and lush and full, but roots are dug deep in to the ground. At the bottom of the trees are piles of green leaves that cover the entire surface of this tree area outside of the paths. The leftish path has a thick layer of brown leaves, the center path has a thick layer of green leaves, and the right no leaves. The area is approximately 100 x 100 m^2 large, .

mugetsu

A few hours had passed. Mugetsu had long since left Blitzfire’s home and had returned to the headquarters belonging to the League of Villains. It wasn’t a very big space; there was one bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and two bedrooms. Aside from that, the hideout didn’t exist as an actual place that people lived at. More often than not, Mugetsu was rarely around and he owned the damn place. The kitchen itself was obnoxiously bare; there were a small refrigerator, a microwave and a rectangular wooden table with so many slices and chips that it would be completely conceivable that Mugetsu found it from a dumping site.

e749591de51fc3bf3706609f9517e307.jpg

Mugetsu had been sitting at the table, a paper plate before him. Alongside it was a paper fork and a paper knife. The villain had placed a handkerchief into the neckline of his armor, sure to be able to catch any rogue drips from his food. On the plate, itself was a rare piece of meat. Well, as close to rare as it could get without killing Mugetsu. With each incision he made into the meat, a large amount of blood flooded the plate underneath as though he was cutting a sponge.

A few inches in front of the plate was a radio. It was old-school as hell, though it worked wonders. News of Blitzfire’s murder had made its way across all news channels on the television and radio - superseding regular programming in the progress. Sadness was being spread across the nation. Newscasters made it a point to explain that he was murdered in his own home. The hummings regarding the League of Villains' resurgence took place. Chaos would soon ensue.

The villain stabbed a piece of the steak with his fork and shoved it into his mouth. The meat was easy to grind up considering half of his face was made of metal. Two radio hosts were going back and forth speaking about the details of the murder. One made a comment about the killing being similar to that of the Hero Killer a few years back. Mugetsu hung his head back, closing his eyes and audibly moaning extremely loud. After waiting for so long…

He was finally going to show the world who was worthy. Society had gotten soft in times of peace.

tumblr_oputesJE6s1qcy62fo2_500.gif

As he swallowed the last bite of his food, Mugetsu stood up. Sliding the chair to the side, he stretched slightly before slowly meandering into the living room. There was a TV on the wall, underneath it was an electric fireplace. A wire with month-old laundry hung above the small couch that Mugetsu had sat down on. He slid deep into the cushion, his chin forcibly resting against his chest as he swayed his knees back and forth. Removing his phone from his pocket, he decided to play a cute little tune that fit his mood.

Wanting to continue playing into the momentum of the media, Mugetsu sent out two texts. Hirogami and Fuji. Two of his associates, ones who fell in line with the ultimate ideologies of Stain and therefore Mugetsu. The promise of power and chaos was easy for some to grasp while others were a bit harder to convince but all would come around with time. Given his successful efforts in pushing the League of Villain’s plans forward, Mugetsu had fully expected that their efforts would pay off handsomely.

“To the HQ.”

She had prepared this exam after all, so I couldn't wait to see what kind of new tricks and traps she had set up this year! I also couldn't miss the chance to witness the student's quirks in action, to get a good view of them while I came up with some interesting experiments. Ah, what kind of wonderfully fascinating quirks could this year's batch have? I just had to know, I couldn't wait to know! All from my comfortable position as ...the...hostage...

"EH? Me, the HOSTAGE? I wasn't told about this! What? Ey!" Was this some kind of revenge plan? Were they planning to wisk me away to some sensation, feeding me nothing but breadcrumbs, commenting about how filthy I was, scrubbing me with brooms for torture? Hehe... No, wait, Darky-chan had nothing to take to revenge from me, right? Before I knew it, I had already started to accompany Master, wiping the nosebleed away as I continued to ponder the possibilities. Unless, unless this was all about. "Does she actually remember that now? Is this all about that sandwhich I took from her bento on the 28th experiment on Darky-chan's quirk? What an odd thing to still be mad about."

As instructed by Master, I took a seat on that decreptic-looking chair, among that structure that seemed like a haunting cabin of a horror movie. Everything about it was crumbling.

"I guess you'll have to guard me like a princess then, Master. I'll be in your care." I teased, winking and then giving him a little bow. "Lets see if any of them make it to us first though, of course."

We both quickly found, it seemed, that it wasn't so easy to simply wait. Such boredom! Just the in time wasted on yawns, some hero out there might have tracked down and defeated a villain, I felt. Master Bang innitiated the small talk between us, explaining how he felt about the pontential of the students. He often mentioned how they had potential, but something about his words towards this year's class seemed a tad more nuanced, a tad more genuine. I nodded along as he said that, but then he recalled it was about time and asked me about the drones. I searche my pockets for a moment, then flashed Master a somewhat nervous smile as I revealed a tiny remote.

"Well, yes and no. I did bring the drones, and I think they're in position. Espionage drones models 34k-7 and 34k-8, as developed by Panko incorporated! But I was not informed that I was gonna be the hostage. I'm afraid the viewing visors are outside more around where Idol-sensei was. I couldn't bring the equipment here since I didn't know where I was gonna go. Ah, but perhaps I can sink my phone or yours to the drones!"

Akane - Team Two

217574a9e5f4eec0138b138fec40c8ddb9b63399_00.gif

Akane had noticed the blush on Jasmine's face but didn't comment on it, choosing instead to smile when she thanked him for his compliment.

"You're welcome." He says, his smile widening before he turned his attention to Yuuta who said he was fine on his own. Akane couldn't help but doubt that but didn't say anything, Yuuta would probably be able to handle himself if he had managed to get into Shiketsu in the first place. Nodding at him, he smiled through it was smaller than before.

"If you are sure then fine, just careful in case you run into Bang. I don't want any of my teammates getting knocked out today. Good Luck." He called after Yuuta, watching the green-haired male activate his quirk before swinging off into the tree, which reminded Akane of Tarzan, chuckling little he shakes his head to clear his thoughts. Upon hearing Jasmine's compliment, his smile returned full force and was promptly directed straight at the girl while his eyes seemed to shine.

"Thank you!" He says, he liked this girl she was nice and polite. He was kind of glad for this test now because it seemed to have introduced him to a potential friend. Listening to the girl continue to speak, he nodded in agreement. They really did need to find the hostage fast or run the risk of not getting there before the other teams but as Dark Side had said, saving the hostage didn't mean winning.

"Yeah but even if we save her before everyone else it doesn't mean we'll win." He said, wrapping his arms around his chest as he returned his gaze to their surrounding only to look at back at Jasmine with a raised eyebrow when the girl asked for his number. Smiling, he pulled out his phone and pressed the power button before waiting for it to turn on. Briefly, glancing at their surroundings again he noticed something off about the about of leaves at each path.

"My number is 189 2836 and do you see, how the paths have differing amounts of leaves?" He asked Jasmine, pointing in the direction of the paths with narrowed eyes.

Impulse

The young man heard his name called and turned to find the source.

Johanna had found Mikado and had been making her way over to the girl before Jono followed suit. When he walked up to the girl, he didn’t look at her - opting instead to watch as the first team went off, splitting up. Immediately afterwards, Johanna mentioned his name. This forced Jono to turn from the forest and to face Mikado. With a small smile, he raised a hand. No dialogue followed his action. Upon hearing mention of the attempt to formulate a plan, Jono waited to see if anyone had anything to say. Among a short pause, the young man parted his lips to speak.

“We should probably stick together. Dark Side put us into groups for a reason. I don’t think she intended for us to split up. It could be detrimental for them.” Jono turned his head from the two ladies to look back toward the forest. Part of him was confident that the team would find a way to grade well. Jono had plenty of capable tools on him that could provide some help ahead.

The problem with splitting up was the fact that if someone got stuck on an earlier part of the course or is running slower on time, then the others would undoubtedly suffer the consequences of leaving another hero behind. Of course, it couldn’t be their fault, but Jono could see Dark Side potentially docking points for something like that. If the entire goal of the course was to get the most points, not necessarily save Panko, then they would need to be cautious of anything detrimental to their overall score.

Maybe Jono was thinking too much into this. He looked back to the girl that he and Johanna had walked up to.

“Mikado, right? I’m sorry we haven’t been able to talk much before this, but I’m sure we’ll do fine. We got your back.” Not like I know anything about your quirk or who you are, but that’s a gamble that we’re forced to take. I’m relying on you to do something meaningful, just as well as Johanna.

There was no way that Jono was going to get caught up. If he was anything, it was resourceful. Jono was going to be sure that they grabbed Panko and scored the most amount of points possible, no matter the cost. If he broke his body in the process, it would be worth it. Not only for the high score but for the fact that he wouldn’t have to worry about taking another bullshit test for a while.

Though, Jono knew there was a reason for the previous day’s test and today’s test. The punch in the face he took from Bang didn’t exactly feel like bliss, though. For an old man, he might as well had been swinging around large bricks of concrete because when that shit slammed into Jono, it took every ounce of his willpower to keep standing. Yet, he still only maintained a score worthy of the middle of the class. Jono wasn’t sure just how the rankings reflected with all of these new kids in class, but something told him that his spot on the food chain would probably remain unchained given the turn of the class.

Almost half of it was new people. The other half got bounced to other places or schools. Rocky and Daraka’s parents removed them from the academy once they got the bill for the damage at the school. They couldn’t continue paying tuition. Sounded like a personal problem. Haruna never showed up the second day. Jono wondered if Shiketsu oftentimes ran into this issue where their freshman class radically changed between day one and two.

Jasmine Setsuki (Team Two)

Jasmine added Akane’s number to her contact list as the boy with dreadlocks pointed out the different number of leaves along the three walk-able paths. It was good to see that her teammate wasn’t all brawn as his combat-oriented quirk implied. He also seemed quite friendly, given his smiles.

“I do.” She replied, eyes following the direction of his pointer finger. “The possibility that difference in topography is entirely natural isn’t zero…but I find caution is the best route in most scenarios.”

Moving closer to the path with the green colored leaves, Jasmine picked up one, studying it curiously. One could tell whether the leaves were natural or not by studying the trees around it. Of course, a trap setter with any brains wouldn’t choose leaves that didn’t belong and make their trap so obviously a trap. Assuming, of course, that their teachers had prepared traps in the first place. Master Bang didn’t seem the like the type to set traps, but Kazama-sensei might—since she was a ninja and all. Leaves could be used to hide things. Traps. Footprints. There were simply too many variables for Jasmine to make an accurate conclusion. A visible ground was usually the safer route. However, given that the mission was to rescue a hostage, safety didn’t equal success.

“Regardless, I’ll go where you do.”

Since she didn’t have her mandrake with her, it’d be stupid to go alone.

Dropping the leaf, Jasmine pulled out another notebook from her backpack. “I’ll make a map of the routes we take so if we get lost we can also backtrack.”

Girl scout basic 101.

She also planned on marking the trees they passed so that Yuu could find his way back to them once he finished preparing his wired traps throughout the forest. Given what she’d seen of Master Bang’s temper, luring him into them shouldn’t be too difficult. In order to save the hostage, they first had to draw the villain away from the hostage. Then distract him long enough for the hostage to be rescued and for them to make their escape. That was the basics of their plan. Whether would play out the way they hoped was an entirely different matter. However, there was no knowing without experimentation.

Jasmine checked the time on her phone.

Her mandrake hadn’t been killed yet. She’d know if it was. Given its small stature and green coloring, Jasmine didn’t think her mandrake would be easy to find in the dense trees. But, then again, they were up against a Pro-Hero, after all.

Truthfully, Yuu staying hidden the the forest would be best. Only one of them needed to draw Master Bang’s attention for the plan to succeed…and it certainly wasn’t her or Yuu. Jasmine glanced towards Akane, noticing his preference for the middle path with green leaves. That was likely the route they were headed.

“…Shall we get going?”

Jasmine certainly didn’t plan on taking the lead.

Obake Fuji
Half of the time, the room smelled of dusty drywall. Most of the time, it smelled like raw sewage due to the faulty piping that ran through the building's system. She had been stuck in here for quite some time, on the run from the police and her parent's apartment was no haven for her anymore. There were very few things Obake could do for enjoyment, her place did have a weak wifi signal she could catch illegal streams on (she had to hit her evil quota somehow!), but she could only catch static runs of her favorite cartoons. Today was different, today there was some good news, something worth watching.
9ee827974bf0cab5af58d6710d5efeadf06581cev2_00.jpg

"??? ????, ????????? ????? ???? ?? ??? ?????????!"

The radio rung in static feedback, but she could hear well, she was not missing any details of this. She laid on her stomach, kicking her heels up to the ceiling as she was mesmerized by her phone's broadcast. Finally, there was some news worth watching. It made her feel excited as the details of the death were detailed, she could feel herself alive again. The news story switched to some natural disaster in Cuba, but she was not interested at all, if she could not picture the blood, it was a boring story. Blitzfire's death was lingering fondly in her memory, she brought her smartphone close to her chest, closing her eyes to really get a image of what it was like, what each combatant was feeling.

"He's so... Gruesome." It took a moment for Obake to mutter the right adjective.

Yes, Obake knew exactly who had done this, Mugetsu had a certain agenda and way of finishing his enemy off. It was not fair, she was jealous that Mugetsu got to play around with his quirk, while Sentinel and herself were stuck in this dank apartment. But, her envy was mixed with satisfaction, knowing a pro hero was dead made her very happy. Why was it they got to use their quirks, but she was forced to keep Sentinel hidden? She yearned for a world where she could be free with the monster on her back, he deserved freedom as much as she. Stain believed in a world of only the best heroes, so many unworthy quirks, she would show them.

That is when her phone made a cute little ding. Any connection from the outside world made her very curious, there was not a long list of people who had her number, it was just Ren and Mugetsu as a matter of fact. Lo and behold, it was the devil himself, the man she called Mugi, or as the world would soon know him, the murderer of Blitzfire.

"ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ʜǫ"

Was all the text read, straight forward and simple, a message that warranted a simple 'K' from Obake. Despite the plainness of her response, she was excited Mugetsu was reaching out to her, she started to feel very hot from how ecstatic she was... She hopped off her bed and wasted no time to get into a better set of clothes. The pajamas she wore now pretty much gave her away as a villain, even if people did not recognize her, with how torn and smelly they were. Obake instead opted for a white sundress, a floppy hat and a pair of sunglasses to mask her appearance. Despite her pretty clothing, she was not an attractive girl. Her face was hollow, her eyes sunken deep into her skull and her body was frail and bony.

"How do I look, Sentinel?" She said with a quick pose in the mirror. The tendrils on her back were not much for conversation, but with a quick head pat, he gave her a quick response.

"Criminally beautiful as always, young Obake. I hope no young men make any advances..." Sentinel's voice was deep and rational.

Obake gave her freakiest smile, a gesture she had not done for ages. "Ohhh, I hope they do! If they try anything funny, you will cut them up for me, right?" She did not really ask this as a legitimate question. She knew what would happen. If they tried to even lay an unwelcome hand on her, Sentinel would give a good wack away.

"Of course..." Sentinel's voice responded.

With that, Obake went out on the prowl through the streets. She blended in fairly well with the crowd, her dress gave her an older vibe, so no police pulled her over and wondered why she was not at school. At the same time, she was not pretty enough to pick up any stray flirters. Without any distractions, she took the subway and arrived at the HQ in a quick fifteen minutes. She gave the door a meager knock, she did not want to anger Mugetsu by coming in unannounced.

"Mugi, it is meeeeee!"

Jasmine ( QuirkyAngel QuirkyAngel ) went into greater detail about her quirk than Yasu had. He was impressed. She seemed to know her quirk in and out and, despite living with his for a long time, Yasugai was hardly coming to get familiar with his own. He hadn't exactly cared to. It had always been the reason for his withdrawal from people, and something he hadn't really cared to explore for a while.

As it was, however, Jasmine would not end up being on his team. Upon getting off the bus, Dark Side-sensei ( AkuTheWolfOkami AkuTheWolfOkami ) @would proclaim that the teams were being changed. Yasugai was terrified at first. Having to introduce himself to two new people had been difficult the first time, but now he had to do it again! But, if he'd done it once... and if he was going to become the person he wanted to be... he could do it again. He nervously gulped. He didn't know the last names of his classmates all that well just yet, but he did recognize the ridiculously complicated surname belonging to the small girl he'd met earlier. Phew. He wouldn't have to reintroduce himself there, at least.

Or so he thought. Thinking there wasn't anyone else in the class with a last name including 'Von', Yasu was yet unaware of the fact that he was mistaken about Kath's place on his new team.

Walking over to her, Yasu only turned to the supposed 'Werks' ( _Line 213 _Line 213 ) student when he so obnoxiously yelled out for his team. His shoulders sagged in slight defeat. He didn't exactly hate the guy or anything... but he just knew the boy's personality was going to put him on edge a bit. At least, from what he'd seen so far. With a slight sight, Yasugai walked over to him as he explained the situation they were headed into. Search and rescue. Hostages. It definitely unnerved the pink-haired youth. He'd gone over such things on paper... but never in practice. Yasu didn't reply to Werks' worry and disbelief. But he definitely felt the same.

Honestly, when he called out for group three again though-- with Yasu standing right beside him-- the pink-haired boy started to get a bit annoyed. He made a face. Looking over his shoulder at Katherine ( Idea Idea ), he softened the features of his expression and waited to see if she would come over to introduce herself to the loudmouth first. It seemed the test would begin soon so, preferably, they could get that out of the way. Yasugai just didn't have the patience or mental fortitude to break the ice.

In the meantime, he casually reached up to tug on his hood again... and was pleased to find out it had come undone from his sticky hair. Still unbeknownst that his true teammate ( Twenty-Fifth Baam Twenty-Fifth Baam ) was unaware of his presence. But, if she approached Max and introduced herself, Yasu would most likely catch on afterwards.

Regardless of my actual age, my size was still too small (and my weight too little) to legally go around on a raw chair like this, not that the teachers had to know about that. As soon as I felt relatively safe, I began the conversation about our incoming leadership and sharing our quirks, taking the two lovebirds from their previous topic.

"Sugar control and creating plants with people's DNA, huh... Those sound pretty useful outside of immediate combat. Did you bring any of those seeds with you, Jasmine? How do they drain your vitality? Do you get tired and sick from using them too much? And Yasu, do you have sugar on you then? I mean, other than your hair..." I cleared my throat. I did not mean that in a disrespctful manner, of course, so I probably should move to talk about my own quirk. "My quirk lets me overlap the matter of objects which I bite. The two main things I can do with that is condense objects by overlapping their matter into itself or store the objects by overlapping their matter into other objects, including my own body. When merged, objects retain their innitial resistance, but I have some degree of control over whether their weight changes when I condense them. I don't really have any objects on me today though, except for those in my backpa- I mean, I only have a few."

If I told them about the backpack objects, they might end up watching me as I went to get those objects! And if they did, there a certain pair of hello kitty stockings within that I absolutely could not let them spot. Never! Never!

Jasmine went on to explain her quirk had these time limit, but that she could somewhat recover her strength by using a C02 inhaler. I had no idea what exactly that was, but I could throw a guess. Plus, in our society with all the different quirks, it was only natural so many strange products could appear. It reminded of those dental protections I wanted to buy, or at least have them on my hero costume so I could bite things more quickly without hurting myself in the process.

As the topic of leadership arose again, first Yasu turned to Jasmine for some reason, then she turned to me and commented about how charisma would be necessary for a leader. As much as I hated to admit it, she was right. Though I would like to be the leader myself, which was only right considering I was a Von Kleinerheld, in this one case I would have to yield.

"That's true. Alright, it's decided then. You'll be our leader, Jasmine! You've already shown yourself quite able to handle comforting Yasu over there, and you were smart and considerate to me too. You'll be excellent at the head of our team." I grinned. Thins were going surprisingly well. I expected fights for the leadership position, but in the end, everything was getting resolved just fine...

....Which meant I really should have seen it coming when the teachers decided to back track on it all by reshuffling the teams. Were it not for the straps, my backpack would have fallen to the ground on that moment: I realized the names being used now were different, and that once again, I had no idea who most of them were. They-they weren't gonna make me shout again? Not again, right? Going through such a humiliating thing, at this rate nobody would ever think of me as anything more than some bratty little girl that is constantly screaming! Wait, I didn't have to scream again...right? I could just wait, since I screamed early, surely people would remember that I screamed my name, correct? Wahat if they weren't attention or even so much as around when I screamed? No, no, no... wait, then maybe they would be able to follow the others, yes, yes, yes, that would do, there was no need to shout again, no need, I could just stay quiet and nobody would make me do such an embarassing thing again, I could just lay low, fix my reputation, not let them down, please I couldn't let them down now! It was only the second day!

"Ah!" I squeaked, leaping back slightly and placing my body in a defensive pose. While I was lost in thought, as if teleporting Arietty showed up right besides me with some other student, that cat person who the professor beat yesterday. I pouted. "Oh, it's just you Arietty... Jeez, don't startle me like that."

My bodys stiffness vanished in an instant though my heart's fast beat was still palpable for a few moments. I allowed myself to sigh while Arietty introduced me and the cat boy, Felix, and immediately my face became red again for being introduced as "Kiki". I even opened my mouth to protest against being called that, but then again, it WAS one name people called me, and I did give permission to one of the colleages to call me that. As a result, I did not loudly protest, only muttered under my breath a short

"Don't call me that, it's embarassing..." The cat boy then introduced himself too, stating I was in good hands and that he was the fastest in our class. And he meowed.

S-so cute... He was like an actual adorable kitten! Aaah!

If my face was not red with embarassment already, maybe this would have made it red. It was soon proven though, as Ari's cheering and Felix's statement of confidence with equal glee, that he did not speak that way in every sentence. I couldn't help but start laughing as they did that, their happiness being most contagious. Well, we undoubtedly had a chance: We were basically team "more than they look like" with a child, Ari and a cat on it. What was next some scrawny dude that turns buff?

"Yeah, yeah, that sounds pretty great. We'll get this under our belt for sure!" I wiped a tear of joy from my eye with a bandaged finger, knowing what I had to do now. Arietty wasn't confident enough to lead, and one of us was pratically a ghost since they didn't yet made it to the group. Plus, I needed to get Felix speaking as much as possible. "My actual name is Katharine-Corula Zweihild Von Kleinerheld. I guess I'll be taking charge for our group then. Felix, since you're the fastest, you'll be our scout. They are sure to have obstacles for us, but with your movements and speed, I'm sure you can evade most and quickly find the hostage. As for any you can't handle, that where I'll step in. I'll be taking charge, helping to disarm any obstacles and aiding you with fighting Bang if we need to. You get beat by him yesterday Felix, and even if I won, I doubt the same trick will work twice on that old geezer. Arietty, we'll keep you in reserve. I don't know what you did with Dark-side yesterday, but if we can give you an opening, you can do it for Bang too, right? And if it's not needed, then you can go secure the hostage. Is there anything else you can do? I don't think I understand your quirk too well yet. In fact, maybe we should tell each our quirks, just tobe sure we can work together right. Of course, also that Hisakawa person, however they might be. I'll include them in the plan when and if they show up. Are we in agreement?"

I grinned. Both because of the plan, and because I managed to slip in the "old geezer" part while the professor wasn't around.

[div class=class] Izanami watched the students attently, noting down her thoughts from the shadows as per her self-appointed task in this test. The first team was already underway, for a short bit, so she checked the time. Pretty much on point, five minutes had passed.

"Team 4, you're next! In the appointed direction, like the others." Her voice announced to the students still outside of the exercise. Each group would go in it's own direction, set up to deal with the students in relation to their files and for those that did, their demonstrations with Bang on the previous day. In team 4's particular case, they would start by coming across a particularly thick-leafed part of the forest, eliminating most of the light below. This was mostly do the age of the trees, having grow their branches in such a way that it caused that effect, despite what was below them being mainly clearings with just larger grass and trees surrounding those clearings like they joined a cult. Aside from being a little bumpy, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about the clearings that could be spotted with the naked eye, nor was there any discernable noise other than chirping birds and the other students.

There was, however, a faint scent of blood, specifically rabbit blood, as if some wild animal left some trace of it's pray lying around, but the scent wasn't as strong as actual exposed meat. It seemed to come from the direction diagonal to the one the group was relative to some of the clearings.

"There. That should do it." He satisfyingly said as he thought he put enough traps below the branches of the trees. If the tripwire is activated, forcefully complied sticks, leaves, and small rocks would distract the victim's vision, and also distract them from their flight or whatever, which would slow them down. As he advanced deeper into the lush forest, the leaves on the trees were getting denser, and the branches were getting thinner. If he goes on like this, he'd most likely create unexpected noise that would certainly attract anyone close to him. Even though the villain and the hostage weren't on his sight, he wouldn't attempt to take a risky move. Being given no choice, Yuuta abandoned his height advantage and proceeded to set up the traps on the ground. While setting up his first tripwire trap, he realized one crucial thing. He didn't know where the villain was. If Master Bang was far from here, then the traps that he set up would be useless. Unless they know where Yuuta is and where he set up his traps, they would definitely lure Master Bang into his traps.

Well, Yuu figured out he'd just tell Jasmine and Akane where he put up his traps when they have successfully regrouped. He made sure that he put up landmarks so he'd easily spot where he set them up. The trap that he was currently making was actually just the same as the ones that he made below the branches of the trees. But, when activated, the victim would trip face-first into the ground, and the leaves would stick into their eyes to distract their vision.. If only he can make a pithole, and cover it with leaves, it would be the perfect trap... He made the wire thin, so it would be noticeable when light reflects the wire to your eyes or when one looks at it carefully. He'd be careful not to trip into his own traps though... Yuuta then quietly but casually walked to the left of him specifically. He was trying to find a perfect spot to put up a trap, and also to find the hostage. He was also staying close to the trees to avoid being attacked in the open.

He stopped and crouched behind a tree as Yuuta just realized there were pine needles on the ground, although there weren't any pine trees around. He picked one up to observe it. It's weird. It doesn't look suspicious at all, though, but why is it here, and how did this even get here? That question circled his mind. There's a chance that this was set up by the teachers, but he didn't see any purpose for them at all.

Arietty

Ari also jumped when Kath did. For someone so fierce, the girl was so easily startled. When Katherine showed some embarrassment at being called Kiki Ari just smiled and didn't respond. She was going to keep calling her Kiki, that was just a fact.

The blue hair girl gave a sly smile as the girl tried to contain herself at the cuteness that was Felix. Arietty was inclined to agree, Felix seemed to be super nice and charming and his cat-like mannerisms were endearing. She listened to them both speak and laughed internally at the weird dynamic of their team.

Kath was a super fierce girl with the appearance of a child, Felix was an energetic cat, and then there was Ari. Arietty was a blue haired girl with piercings. However, Ari felt super good about the team dynamic. They had 3 of some of the higher ranking people from yesterday. Arietty was going to work just as hard for this team as the last. She had to prove to herself that she deserved her rank. When Kath asked about Ari's quirk she kinda froze.

Arietty still wasn't used to talking about it, she was only able to do it so casually before because it had already been brought up. Kath was her friend, or at least she felt like she could be. Arietty felt it, she was never going to be able to improve if she couldn't even talk about her quirk.

"I can do a few things," The girl began, "What you saw with Dark Side was an emotion transfer. If skin to skin contact happens strong emotions are transferred, the person touching me feels what I am feeling and I feel everything they are feeling. It can be really disorienting and confusing. I can also move things telekinetically. As of right now anything I am strong enough to lift, I can lift and levitate with my mind as long as it is within my line of sight.

Felix, yours as you said is pretty easy to understand. I think what we have on our side is that we a pretty quick and agile between the two of you. I'm not abnormally fast or quick but I am quick by normal human standards. I don't think I totally understand your quirk either, to be honest." Ari said in reference to Kath.
