“Eighty thousand Poke-dollars please!” Chirped the shopkeep cheerily, as if that wasn’t nearly all the money in Sherry’s wallet. How could he know that, after all? He slid the items across the table at her and replaced the crate underneath the counter, holding out his hand for his cash.

The sleeping Mareep had started awake when someone tried to pet it. A human! God those things are scary. The innocent little creature backed away from the man, who was readying one of those awful things they used to kidnap Pokémon. Mareep was terrified, and when the man threw two balls at it it scurried away, but not in time. The quick ball got it by the tail, and it plopped to the ground. It shook once... twice... three times... then SMASH it’s outer shell was destroyed as the sheep Pokémon was released from it’s grasp. As if time had frozen for it briefly, it continued it’s scamper towards the cave of Mt Morter, hoping to take refuge there even though the Pokémon inside were much stronger than it, and rock types to boot. What would Jackie do before it reached the mouth, however?

Jackie couldn't believe the Mareep hadn't been caught by his Dual Ball strategy, though it was always a bit of a coin toss when it came to the risky move. But the failure only intensified his wanting of the Electric Pokémon. "Cinccino!"

The tactical trainer looked down at the Scarf Pokémon and motioned towards the cave entrance of Mt Mortar with his head. "Cin! Cin!" was her reply as she zoomed after the Pokémon, the Normal type being naturally quick and more than doubly so compared to their plasma processing prey though the plan was for her to cover the entrance while her friend made a guest appearance.

Grabbing the Ultra Ball from his belt, Jackie casually dropped the grey and yellow sphere and in a flash of light appeared the Dark Types Shiftry. "Extrasensory" Jackie stated to the Wicked Pokémon.

The Pokémon didn't respond or even move as he concentrated, a purple glow emanating from him as he attacked the fleeing fleece wearer with an odd unseeable power. The holstered Hyde hoped the move would make the Mareep flinch, buying him more time to catch the rebellious ram, as well as do damage.

80,000 Poke-dollars. Sherry fished out that exact amount of money from her trousers' pocket and gave it to the shopkeeper. Luckily though, she had more than enough to pay for the herbs. "Thank you," the girl smiled as she took the herbs. And now that she's done with her business, Sherry made her way to Route 42.

Once she hit the road, Cherry wanted to listen to some music while walking. She tuned her Pokegear's radio to the Pokemon Music Channel which so happened to play the Pokemon March. Little did she know that the tune actually drew wild Pokemon toward her. From one Pokemon, then two, three... more and more Pokemon literally marched behind her!

The Gym Leader did not seem unaffected by the loss his loyal companion just took. He knew it was a poor match up from the start, and had only expected his Pokemon to buy him time to recover from the number Doragon had done to him. So much for that plan, he had only recovered two thirds of his total HP now. Nonetheless, a promise is a promise. Chance stepped out onto the battlefield to pet his hound gently before returning it to his pokeball. Sorry, buddy, that was irresponsible of me. Thanks for fighting it out. Then he straightened up and looked at Ryuko, smiling a strange faint smile. He began to untie the scabbard of his broken sword from his hips, and gripped it with one hand.

"Thank you for your compliment. Amp is very proud, he never would have taken a defeat lying down. Now," He said, gripping the blunt object in his hands with two and leveling it's end upon the Ice Type pokemon he was now facing down. "Wattson!" He called out seemingly to no one. For a few moments there were silence following the echo of Chance's voice around the room. Then, there was a bit of scuttling and shuffling from above. The shadows of the rafters above the hanging lights hid whatever was making the noise. Then, a furry yellow form emerged from the shadows, and dropped out of the air as if completely care free. Halfway down it's descent, a spider web exited it's mouth. The String Shot attack formed a parachute which slowed his descent just enough that he gently landed next to Chance. He then happily circled chance hopping and making little cries of happiness. Then, he hopped onto Chance's back, as if this were protocol. His head nuzzled Chance's cheek, whom was still staring down Bertie. It's large, but surprisingly light legs wrapped around Chance's shoulders and torso like a giant-tarantula-backpack. "I underestimated your pokemon in that first match, I won't do it again. You'll have to work for this one, Ryuko. Don't hesitate to help your pokemon if you deem it necessary, I can see you aren't planning on entering the battle yet. Please, begin!" He said all this while keeping his eye on Bertie.

Like a pied piper of strange powerful monsters, Sherry lead a parade of small wild pokemon behind her in an almost hypnotic state. Only the rather weak and esily influenced pokemon had joined the crowd. A half dozen Rattatta scampered from the grass. Out of the lake ahead of her were emerging some Marill, whom were very curious about the events. A troupe of three mankey dropped from the trees behind her as well. They all plodded along in time with the music, and the growing gathering would likely get Cherry's attention soon. It had certainly gotten the attention of a wild Arbok, who just jumped out of the bushes and devoured one of the Rattatta whole, causing the other's to cry out in horror and rush past Cherry now.

The sheep pokemon buried it's hooves into the dirt at it's feet to stop itself from colliding with the Cincino whom blocked it's progress. Very clever of Jackie to order it to do so before it disappeared into the darkness. Mareep then turned left to attempt to make a trek around the mountain, but was assaulted by some invisible force. At least, invisible to it in it's hasty retreat. Shiftry's extrasensory hit it hard, and the smallish pokemon flinched from the unexpected pain, freezing in it's tracks. Cincino, however, would hear a low growl from the cave behind it. From what, it could not see.

"I'm planning to jump in round three. Besides, I'm interested in seeing how you fight fully."
Ryuko looked to Bertie as her pokemon nodded.
"Right, Let's hit hard right off the bat! Use Blizzard!"
Bertie opened his mouth and exhaled a whirlwhind of ice and snow towards Chance and the piggybacking Galvantula named Wattson. The sub zero temperature winds swirled in a spiral towards the target, in a beam like fashion of sorts.

The cute parade of Pokemon soon turned into a huge red flag as Sherry turned around. Much to her horror, an Arbok had eaten one of the wild Rattata who had been marching behind her just now. That, coupled with the other wild Pokemon's reactions to it, prompted Cherry to act fast. "Henry! Tenniel!" she quickly threw a classic Pokeball and a Great Ball out, revealing the Drifblim from before (Henry) and a Lucario (Tenniel), respectively. Tenniel immediately rushed to the Arbok with two blue bones of energy in his hands, intending to hit it with his Bone Rush. As for Henry, he rescued the other Pokemon nearby, then dropped them by Cherry's side for their safety.

Jackie and Shiftry ran after the Mareep, their gamble with Extrasensory paying off as the Electric Type flinched from the psychic damage. The determined Dark type skidded to a halt as he crossed on to the sandy ground near the mouth of Mt Mortar, noting the terrain as he looked around. "Cinccino! Head in the game man!" shouted Jackie at the distracted Scarf Pokemon, her gaze focused on the cave entrance rather than the Mareep.

Meanwhile his Pokémon peer, Shiftry, rushed ahead to continue his battle blowing up sand and dirt with his fan like hands. "Shiftry! Stop! Get back in the grass!"

This was going downhill fast. thought Hyde, as his Shiftry stopped and rushed back towards the grass at his trainers command. Jackie glared at Cinccino, who turned back to the task at hand and gave the recovering ram her full attention, as her trainer turned to the grass type who was back in his very namesake. "Nature Power!" Jackie called out.

Shiftry did as he was commanded and so to did Mother Nature, the long blades of grass reaching out towards the Pokémon as they gave him their power, a crackling green sphere of energy appearing before the Wicked Pokémon. Taking aim at the Wool Pokémon, Shiftry let loose the Energy Ball with a mighty wave of his mahogany arms.

Chance stared Berty in the eye as the bear roared a blizzard which could freeze a mountain at him. He stood his ground and spoke to Wattson firmly. "Electro Ball," He said, while also activating Fusion Bolt, his own move. Wattson opened his mouth, and fired a tight ball of energy into the center of the Blizzard, which stopped it briefly as they clashed. Then, Chance's sword glowed with a similar coat of electricity, and he stepped forward to strike the Electro Ball. The energy from the sword transferred into the Electro Ball, which caused the blizzard to distort and implode in on itself, dispelling it around the ball as it flew towards the Beartic. Both attacks would dissipate before they reached the large pokemon.

Without hesitation, after hitting the Electro Ball and powering it up, he took another step to follow it. This one was Bolt Strike, and while it would not quite be as effective as with a sword, it would still transfer the equivalent of a bolt of lightning to the monster it he was targeting. Because of the short speed boost of Bolt Strike, he had traveled directly behind the counterattack he and Wattson had launched.

"HASSSASASASASA" Cried the Arbok as the Lucario laid a beating on it. He didn't understand quite why the other pokemon had challenged him for food in such a way, perhaps he did not know who's territory this was? Arbok grazed on the puny Rattatta here at WILL! He recovered uninterrupted after the strikes of Bone Rush, and lunged to use his move Bind to wrap up the humanoid wolf pokemon.

While he did, the Driftblim had effectively stolen the rest of his prey from him. What was going on here?! Then he saw it. A human. Those things made Arbok's skin crawl. He hated them. Meanwhile, the Rattatta were jumping off of Henry's top and scurrying into the tall grass around Sherry. The mankey whom had climbed up and swung from Henry's chords seemed content to stay there, and seemed pleased to have a new floaty friend.

An energy ball enveloping the power of nature soared after Mareep much quicker than it could run, and was chased down and struck by it. It stumbled and seemed down for the count for a moment, dazed. Meanwhile a large Gray snout emerged over Cinccino from the shadow obscuring the cave to Mt. Morter. It snorted and sniffed the air, seemingly gauging the situation. It sensed battle, much energy being projected and sifted around. Was there someone here to encroach on it's territory? The dots surrounding it's cave seemed... weak... but it did not appreciate being woken up from it's nap.

Bertie was caught off guard from the creative defense followed up by getting hit by electro ball then bolt strike, launching the Ice Bear pokemon away from Chance and Watson, down to the ground in front of Ryuko.
Bertie slowly got up, as Ryuko smiled. "Nice counter!"
Ryuko then looked to bertie, her pokemon looking back, before both nod in agreement.

Bertie ran towards Chance and Galvantula, arms behind him as he charged.

Lucas Skye decided to make a couple pit stops between here and his new goal. First up, the necessary one -- the ritual. With his Swampert by his side, he walked over to the Burned Tower again. Staring up at the charred peak, he gave a little silent prayer for protection, hoping Ho-Oh or some other mystical Pokemon would hear it. Immediately, he was filled with memories of his parents. His mother used to be a shrine maiden herself, taking care of similarly built and similarly aged structures, though none nearly as tall. She used to encourage Lucas to pray whenever he found himself about to embark on a dangerous journey. His Unovan father, on the other hand, believed in none of that... Which often led to discourse in the family.

Glancing down at the ground, Lucas couldn't help but also remember the words his father would say when Lucas or his mother offered up prayers at shrines for new years or the like... He didn't want to remember. Shaking his head and taking a deep breath, he motioned for Swampert to follow him to the Pokemart.

Inside the Pokemart, he walked up to the counter. "Could I get twelve Pokeballs?" He asked the shopkeeper.

Jackie watched the explosion of energy with glee and as the smoke settled and he saw the dazed and swirling eyes of the downed Mareep he knew he had made the right call when it came to Shiftry's Nature Power. If he had used it in the gritty sand surrounding the cave it would have become a Ground type move as the pulverised particles of stone answered his Shiftry's call. This would make the move super effective against the Electric type and possibly causing the spent sheep to faint. Too risky an option for the fast thinking thug hence the rushed retreat of the Wicked Pokémon back into the long grass enabling it to launch the game changing Grass move.

Grabbing a Luxury Ball from the deep pockets of his coat, the happy Hyde threw the Poke Ball at the worn out Wool Pokémon. There was no doubt in his mind about the Mareep's capture, especially seeing how he was using one of the cosiest Poke Ball's they made. Still he had played it smart rather than his usual rough and ready and even as the ball shook for the third and final time, Jackie still wanted more. The newest addition to his crew was like an appetiser for the battle hungry bandit and he was more than ready for the main course now.

Suddenly Jackie's world was enveloped by thick and impenetrable darkness as a giant snort erupted behind him!

Pulling his fur coat from over his head so he could see again, the sightless scrapper could feel the leg of his trousers being pulled, his Cinccino beckoning him to respond. Pulling the collar of his jacket to straighten the wonderful wear Jackie spun around and began to lift his head up, higher and higher into the heavens as he took in the massive monster before him.

"HELL YEAH!!!!" Jackie cried. It looked like the main course was finally here.

"Ah, ah, ahhh," Spoke Chance, a mischievous grin on his face. Behind him, Wattson shot a String Shot web from his mouth. It would latch onto the ceiling high above and acted as a bungee chord, snapping upward the Trainer and Pokemon who were attached. He suspended in the air as Beartic reached the spot where he was on the floor. He then stuck out his tongue at the pokemon, teasing it with a raspberry.

The old shop keeper perked up from his cleaning once again. Two customers in an hour was a record for the recent months, but leave it to Chance to draw in a crowd. He met his customer at the counter.

"Hello there, sir. I've got twelve, that's for sure, but they're not all little reds," He said, referring to the local nickname for standard level pokeballs. "I've got a couple heavy balls, four reds, and six nest balls. We carry mostly nest balls for the kids around here who want pets, and the Gym usually uses the rest for classes." Said the man, offering the tray and holding out his hand for cash.

Rhyhorn stepped one massive paw onto the dirt in the afternoon sun, finally exposing itself, and shaking the ground at the same time. It seemed mutated, unnaturally large, it's head nearly the size of a garbage truck. When Jackie yelled, it took that as a threatening cry of dominance. It would not stand for such a challenge. It pawed at the ground like a bull momentarily, then charged the group of three beings outside it's cave. It activated Bulldoze, and gained unnatural speed impossible for it's side, surely mowing over the trees behind the two pokemon and trainer if they dodged. It was large enough it could bowl over all three at once if they did nothing. Meanwhile, in the pokeball, Mareep seemed to relax a little in it's very comfortable pokeball, already starting to warm up to it's new trainer.

Eyeing the assortment of Pokeballs for a bit before nodding, pleased with the variation between them all, he retrieved his wallet and pulled out enough for all of them. "I'll take 'em, thanks. You never know when you might need some other kinds of Pokeballs." He said. "Though, is that all you have? I'd feel bad buying out your entire stock like this if it is." Lucas did some mental math for a moment. If he does end up buying these, he'd want to figure out some way to help out the shopkeep. Maybe he could give them an extra tip, or... Yeah, that's it. He could probably get a large delivery of Pokeballs sent here later on, but he wouldn't rush to that just yet since he wanted to make sure they'd need it first.

"Say, how long have you worked here? I used to come here every now and then as a kid." He followed up absentmindedly.

Bertie skid to a halt and looked upwards, growling.
I may need to enter sooner than I thought. I should wait and see though.

"Bertie, Use surf to launch yourself at them!"
Water flew up from under Bertie as it raised him into the air like a geyser. Pushing off of his watery platform, Bertie flew up to Chance and Watson, before swiping at them with a claw.

"Hey Grandma, what a big face you've got!" goaded the well dressed warrior, as the Rhyhorn pawed the ground before rocketing towards him.

The Spiked Pokémon was going a mile a minute at the trio and they were only feet away so with no time to dodge Jackie had to think quick. Luckily for him his barb proved insightful, as Grandma's big face meant big eyes. All the better to hit you in thought the big bad hood.

"Shiftry, make a break for it! We'll cover you!" shouted Jackie, knowing that the Wicked Pokémon was the key to beating this bouldery bulldozer. The dual type did as he was told and made a break for it, running like the wind thanks to his fan like hands, as Jackie grabbed up his tidy loving team mate in his arms "Cinccino! Rock Blast! Aim for it's eyes!"

"Cin! Cin!" cried the Scarf Pokémon as she threw sharp hard rocks at the Rhyhorn's enormous eyes, trying to get him to swerve of course. Hopefully she had more than two nestled in her bandolier body today thought the bad boy bodyguard as he curled his arms around her defensively with his fluffy fur sleeves, bracing himself for impact.

“Whoa, whoa WATTSON CUT THE LINE!” Said Chance, genuinely surprised by the turn of events. He hadn’t thought the bulky Pokémon was going to be capable of following them into the air. Wattson did cut the line, but not in time. Berry’s formidable claws raked into the thick fabric of Chance’s Kimono and left four shallow gashes across his torso. Chance let out a slight grunt of pain as he fell back to the earth and landed on his feet. The Galvantula had taken a different route, it had jumped off of Chance’s back in mid air and fanned out it’s legs to jump to grapple with Berty instead before the two fell back to earth together. Then, the bug type used poison sting, it’s fangs extending and glowing with a sickly purple aura, biting into Berty’s neck. The Pokémon was poisoned, and would take damage each turn from here on out.

“that was very clever of you, Ms. Ryumaru. You may be worthy of this badge yet,” Said Chance, leveling the scabbard in his hands at her threateningly, and looking her in the eyes. Before Bertie and Wattson landed all the way to the ground, he had activated both his Bolt Strike attack and his ability: Electric Surge. Both increased his speed exponentially, and he covered the few yards between them in a flash of light. Enough time to react, sure, but barely. A high speed stab was aimed at her chest with the blunt weapon the Leader wielded. “But lesson one, today, will be: Never assume your opponent will play by any rules. Surely your people taught you the art of deception?”

Rocks buried into the Rhyhorn’s left eye, causing it to cry and roar. It could not stop it’s forward motion, however, and the trainer hadn’t either. The bulldoze connected with Cinccino and Jackie, hurting them both, but each serving to take some stress off of the other. They would find themselves several meters away on top of a pile of displaced trees. Rhyhorn was still in the center of the clearing, shaking it’s head and stomping angrily on the ground trying to shake off the pain in it’s face from the rock attack.
