Now that all the opponents were gathered in a nearby spot, Snowy positioned herself close enough to them and raised her nine tails as she released a bright, sparkling light from her body at her foes. Even Cherry had to shield her eyes from the blinding light. Some spectators might want to guess that it was Flash -- but actually not. It was a Dazzling Gleam in action!

Doragon calmly walked into the party, invation in hand he wasnt sure why he had come, but decided he might as well make a good impression, after all, he was one of the younger gym leaders. He looked around, unsure who to give his invation to, but decided to just sit down, and give it if someone asked. he spotted something outof the corner of his eye, and walked over a bit to see a 4-Way pokemon battle "Interesting........" Having nothing better to do, he sat down and watched the battle with interest.

A small wet orange hand grabbed the enthusiastic Swampert as Scrafty moved in front of him, it's knee's bent slightly as it sauntered, water dripping from him. The hoodlum Pokémon cocked it's head to one side as it glared at the Water type telling him in, no uncertain terms, to back off. "Oy mate! Dumbbell's mine!" snarled Jackie, as the other trainer's started to get involved.

Swampert's head spun at this display, seeing how he had just helped Scrafty and now the Pokémon was turning on him? And too help the Hitmonlee that had just hit him no less? Confusion was soon followed by anger for the Mud Fish Pokémon, rage now powering it's attack but uncertain of who it could trust.

A brilliant wave of light rocketed towards the pocket monster melee across the arena but luckily for Scrafty he had enough time to react, the blow from Hitmonlee saving him from the Flash of his opponent. Pulling up his baggy skin as he jumped backwards the hoodlum Pokémon could feel his skin searing, quickly realising the attack to be a Fairy type move that eagerly encroached toward the other Pokémon.

Jackie noticed it too "Hey Little Miss Muffet over there! Do that move again and I'm coming for you next!"

The Battle Continues

The Swampert's head was spinning, yes. But not for the reasons presumed by the Scrafty or its Trainer. After all, he hadn't aimed solely for the Hitmonlee, but the Scrafty as well -- what kind of battle would it be if he decided to have teammates? He lowered its head as it eyed the Scrafty menacingly. What kind of beast was this to outspeed his Surf? Suddenly, a bright light interrupted its train of thought, forcing Swampert to close its eyes! Grunting in pain and frustration as its accuracy gets naturally lowered, he decided he'd rely on an attack that didn't need accuracy to be pulled off and cried out, stomping a hind-leg into the ground as the whole arena began to shake!

Swampert used Earthquake!

The floor began to break open, sending chunks of earth flying towards every Pokemon besides itself! The Swampert used this to his advantage, leaping high up into the air and observing from above to see which foe can handle this the best.

Doragon looked closely at the swampert, he could tell that it was a smart pokemon. he likely guessed that a lot of the pokemon here would have trouble with it, he leaned forward slightly to see what would happen next. This was going to be interesting, plus give him some insight of the other gym leaders, he barely even knew there names.

"Hey Little Miss Muffet over there!" the red-haired guy from before, Scrafty's trainer, called Cherry. "Do that move again and I'm coming for you next!" he taunted only to be responded by a chuckle from the young lady. "We'll see about that," she winked at him. To be fair though, the Dazzling Gleam from before also hit everyone in the battlefield -- not just his Scrafty.

And then the whole arena began to shake courtesy of Swampert's Earthquake. Both Cherry and her Ninetales had to maintain their stances until it passed by. But with the chunks of earth flying everywhere, it was pretty hard for Snowy to the point that she got hit by one. It would've hit pretty hard without her Aurora Veil from the beginning, yeah.

"Snowy!!!" Cherry called her Ninetales out who gingerly stood up in response, much to her relief. Noticing the purple Swampert up there in the air, the only female trainer among the battlers pointed her finger to the sky and yelled, "Now! Frosty up there!" Snowy looked up to find her target, the Swampert, then shot a gust of cold air from her mouth -- Freeze-Dry. It's usually super-effective to water-types, but how would this Swampert react?

Swampert observed from above, but unlucky enough it wasn't able to see the oncoming attack through the lingering effects of the previously blinding move mixed with the hail from Snowy's ability. It was struck full force with the Freeze-Dry, and was sent plummeting to the ground! After rolling for a bit, it slowly started to lift itself up, until it was on its hind legs stretching out the front pair in a "come at me" sort of fashion as the ice cracked and melted off of Swampert's purple skin. Was it... Chuckling? That's right, Swampert and Lucas both seemed to be chuckling.

"Hey, miss! Swampert's a water and ground type! Which means... Ice-type moves deal neutral damage!" Lucas called out, his mannerisms reflecting that of Swampert's. Despite not having the ability intimidate, the aura he's giving off right now is nothing short of it... Though this unbecoming confidence he's suddenly gained makes him look about seven years younger, as if battling like this has lit a brand new flame in Lucas' soul. And that same flame was burning in Swampert right now too! It placed a front paw on the ground, eyeing the Ninetales as its yellow eyes glinted in the artificial light of the battle arena.

"Though, I can't lie... That was a good hit. Hang in there, Swampert." Lucas said to himself under his breath, ensuring nobody else could hear him.

Swampert: Earthquake
Ninetales (Alolan): Freeze Dry
Scrafty: Sand Attack

Scrafty was taken by surprise when the Swampert did Earthquake, the water type fighting through his confusion to literally break the earth, sending a massive slab of rock crashing into the Hoodlum Pokémon. Jackie staggered slightly from the ground type move, his Cinccino more so as the Scarf Pokémon hung on to Jackie's coat for dear life almost becoming like a kite on the breeze.

The Ninetales was hit as well, though to onlookers, Scrafty seemed to take the worst of it, buried underneath the slab. That is, until the huge rock exploded becoming no more than mere sand and dust. A shadowy silhouette could be seen with the dust cloud and as the damp and hail blew it away, Scrafty was revealed it's body low and one of its powerful legs, strong enough to smash concrete, extended before it.

Standing up proudly even as the hailstorm around him rained down hard pellets of ice, the Dark/ Fighting Type stretched out his loose skin and began cramming it full of sand and dust. Rushing towards the stand off between the white Ninetales and purple Swampert, Scrafty prepared a Sand Attack for both of them.

"Don't worry Musclebrain, I'm still coming for you." Jackie sniggered at the Black Belt "Just want to make sure these two don't get in the way first"

Swampert continued simply staring down the opposing Ninetales, but failed to take into account the speedy Scrafty as its eyes got sprayed with the Sand Attack, causing it to back down as its accuracy took another hit. Growling under its breath, it stumbled a few feet back before using Water Spout, attempting to aim at the Scrafty... Unlucky enough, the surprise of the sand attack caused it to miss, the water it spouted simply splashing onto one of the pillars in the arena and causing it to crack -- that looks dangerous! Good thing it didn't hit its intended target.

Lucas, meanwhile, grit his teeth while he watched. "Swampert, listen!" He shouted, the Swampert cocking its head towards Lucas with only one eye partially open. It nodded and closed its eyes again, listening for movement instead.

"We know," Cherry just smiled when Lucas pointed out his Swampert's type. "For most ice-type moves, that is," she continued, implying that Freeze-Dry is clearly an exception (or maybe anomaly?) to the norm. In the Swampert's case, an ice-type move is supposed to deal neutral damage as Lucas had pointed out, but Freeze-Dry is super effective to water-type with its matchups to other types remaining intact. So theoretically, Freeze-Dry should be doubly super effective to the Mud Fish Pokemon.

But still, the older man's aura was somewhat intimidating, yeah. Cherry couldn't help but to admire it from where she stood up.

As for Snowy, she just stood there, eyeing the purple Swampert only for them both to take a Sand Attack in the face. Snowy yelped and lightly coughed as some of the sands (almost) got into her blue eyes. That's still nothing compared to the Swampert's response, though. They tried to spout some water on the Scrafty, but somehow ended up hitting one of the pillars instead. Uh-oh, 'tis gonna be bad, Cherry thought in horror when said pillar started to crack. She contemplated to have Tenniel, her Lucario, to hold it up, but ended up not doing it, for she wasn't sure if it's even allowed.

"Oh, man, NO!" Said the fighting type trainer as his Hitmonlee dropped to the ground unconscious. It had been hit by surf, dazzling gleam, and then earthquake in very quick succession. Hitmonlee was not exactly a bulky pokemon, and as such it's HP had reached zero. The trainer grumpily returned his pokemon to it's pokeball and stomped off the field, deftly avoiding any stray attacks and ignoring Jackie's gaze pointedly. He stomped into the private box and his friends immediately began to console him.

"Man in a one on one fight you'd have them all." They crooned. A few feet away, Chance glanced away from the fight to ensure his guests were enjoying it as much as he was. His sight glanced over at Doragon and he took a quick couple of steps to be beside him.

"Doragon! I'm glad you came. Perhaps you and I should be the next exhibition? Those trainers down there are going to be a hard act to follow, don't you think?" Said the electric type leader as chipper as ever. "It's impressive for us to have so many competitors this year who aren't Gym leaders. We'll have to show them why they call us that, yeah?" He said, playfully punching the dragon type leader in the shoulder.

Doragon rolled his eyes at the lightning-gym leader, but nodded in acknowledgment as he said "Fine..... I guess we can do a battle afterward" but then gave a light smirk as he thought that the Chancey-boi had no idea what was coming for him. Oh, he would bring the thunder, and destroy Chance. Sighing, he leaned forward to continue watching the fight, these trainers were smart, to bad for them he was smarter...........

With the only trainer that mattered gone, and the fact that he had proven to be so weak, Jackie was furious. He had been dying to see the Hitmonlee's High Jump Kick in action, ready to clash against it with his Scrafty's mighty Head Smash but this epic moment had been taken from him by a confused fish and a cowardly fox! What is the point of the being the very best when no one can see it!?

"Screw this!" Jackie roared "Scrafty, use Head Smash!"

Scrafty turned round and smiled, rubbing the bottom of his nose. "SCRAFTY!!!!" the hoodlum Pokémon screamed as it tore back into the fray, his target the Ninetales that had almost proven his downfall, too dangerous to be kept around.

If he was lucky he would make it to the blind Swampert, with the confusion from his Swagger finally taken affect after so long. In the end though it didn't matter. Scrafty would just keep coming till one of them was buried into the ground by his powerful head, even if it meant he fainted in the process.

"Welp, one down," Cherry mused as she glanced at the black belt. Seems like he had gotten the short end of the stick. But that didn't mean the battle had ended. Saying that the Scrafty and their trainer were getting salty would be a huge understatement -- they were so dang enraged that their intended target had gone, hence the Head Smash aimed at Snowy. Not that she could anticipate it anyway.

"Cripes..." the sight of it alone made Cherry wince. Yes, Snowy wobbled after that one Head Smash, but she still stood up like a champ. Thanks to her Aurora Veil. Again. In response, she retaliated with yet another round of Dazzling Gleam. C'mon Snowy, hang in there...

Swampert listened closely as the two foes began focusing on each other and prepared its next move, raising a hind leg and slamming it into the ground, using Earthquake once more. Of course, the pillar that had been damaged earlier could no longer support its weight under these circumstances and fell to the ground with an enormous crash, thankfully not causing any harm to the structural integrity of the gym -- the architects who designed this place were to thank for that, of course. However, the ground shattering once more with that attack was most certainly detrimental to the other two currently in the battle.

Swampert had hoped he could at least take one of them out with this move. He knew that one good hit from either one with the condition he's currently in would likely spell the end for him in this battle... So he'd do the best he can in a two-versus-one format.

The Rock type move smashed into the Ice type with a sickening crack, but thanks to Aurora Veil, the super effective move proved not as effective and what could have a been a finishing blow for the Ninetales led instead to Scrafty's defeat. Already groggy and on his last legs from Head Smash, the Hoodlum Pokémon may have already knocked himself out but with the blinding light of Dazzling Gleam enveloping him, all spectators could see was a small swirling ball of light as Jackie returned him to his Pokeball.

Pulling on the collar of his fur coat, Jackie merely walked off though his Cinccino hesitated, unsure of her trainer's reaction to his first loss in a long time. Still she dutifully followed him as he took up a position, not far from the Black Belts.

Thanks to the Scrafty's Head Smash from before, Snowy ended up getting close to the cracking pillar. An Earthquake from the Swampert broke it big time. Thankfully though, Snowy managed to avoid the falling pillar and nimbly hopped on it despite the brightness from her own Dazzling Gleam.

Once again, the chunks of earth flew everywhere courtesy of the Earthquake. But this time the blue Ninetales managed to avoid it by hopping from one chunk to another, eventually landing on the Swampert. From there, she made a high jump and launched another round of Freeze-Dry like (Henry Stickmin spoiler ahoy~) how the Right Hand Man activated his laser eye on Henry (not the Drifblim) in the Toppat King route of Completing the Mission.

"Wow! They're all really something! Jackie!" Said the energetic electro-leader as he viewed the events unfolding upon the battlefield. "Swampert's use of arena-covering attacks makes him unexpectedly equipped for this battle, but Cherry's Snowy is a catching onto his game. Do you think Lucas is clever enough to swithc up his tactics and keep the pressure on?" Asked Chance towards Doragon. Before his dragon type counterpart could answer, however, he jogged over to meet and walk beside Jackie Hyde when the young man entered the room again. "You gave a hundred percent out there man, I respect that! Look, don't sweat the KO. Free for all battles are just as much about luck as they are skill. Sometimes you can't keep the hits from piling up." One of the martial artists snickered as Jackie drew near, but a spark flew off of Chance's hair and landed on the man's wrist, making it seize up for half a moment but cause no further damage. He rubbed his hand and whimpered, but otherwise stayed silent.

"Tell me, what other heavy hitters do you have on your team? Scrafty is a great damage dealer with those classic dark type mischief attacks. Got any tanks in the arsenal or are you all offense?" Asked Chance in a friendly manner.

As dragon was about to reply to Chance`s question, he just went over to Jackie and asked him something, and Doragon huffed as he continued to watch the match, which was currently just the swampers, and the Alolan nine-Tails., and he watched carefully to see what Swampert would do to protect himself from the clever use of Freeze-Dry

Within moments of entering the room Jackie heard someone calling his name. Hoping it was the black belt from earlier so he could vent some frustration he was instead approached by the gym leader Chance. "You gave a hundred percent out there man, I respect that! Look, don't sweat the KO. Free for all battles are just as much about luck as they are skill. Sometimes you can't keep the hits from piling up."

So true Jackie thought. The only reason he was out here and not still in the fight was sheer fluke. A Swampert that powered through it's confusion; A Ninetales with a move that was perfect for battling his Scrafty; Talk about unlucky!

"Tell me, what other heavy hitters do you have on your team? Scrafty is a great damage dealer with those classic dark type mischief attacks. Got any tanks in the arsenal or are you all offense?" asked the friendly thunderbolt

"You cheeky git, trying to get ahead of the game are we? Learn all my secrets so you can have the advantage when we fight ey? An underhanded move if I do say so myself" Jackie paused for a moment before smirking "A man after my own heart. I respect that so I'll tell you. Though it won't do you any good"

He lifted his coat up to show off his belt lined with poke balls, each one as different as the Pokémon inside "Each one is like a little me, a blend of offence and defence with a happy helping of mischief though some are more heavy hitting like Scrafty, or a bit more tactical like my pal here"

He thumbed over his shoulder at his Cinccino, who was sorting out his coat. "Though the best way to find out would be to battle. I'm always up for a good scrap! Unless you don't think you can handle it, of course?"

Swampert heard the Scrafty faint, being called back to its Pokeball by the trainer who sent it out and listening closely for the oncoming attack from the Ninetales. As it waited patiently, it heard the foe begin to move and then... No footsteps? Where could it have gone? Swampert cocked its head in multiple directions before chilly wind began flowing overtop of it -- Ah, so that's it, it went above! The Swampert grimaced, knowing it was too late for it to make a move to dodge the attack and instead crouched down. Yet the move kept going, filling the air with frosty white and making Swampert's own breath visible...

As the move ended and the Ninetales gracefully landed, Swampert would turn to it, shivering, smiling. As if acknowledging that it had met its match. Never before did it expect to be taken out so swiftly by a Pokemon that didn't even have a type advantage... And then, it collapsed.

Swampert has fainted!

Post-Battle Thoughts
Swampert returned to its ball. Lucas smiled at it and sighed, knowing they were content with this ending. "Well, buddy. We tried our best. You did great out there." He said, clipping the ball back to his waist. He couldn't lie, he too was satisfied, though couldn't help but feel as though he was pretty rusty all things considered. It definitely showed, if you asked him... Still, who WAS that girl? Her Ninetales was something else, cold inside and outside when it came to battling. He shook his head and smiled.

"Guess I better head over there and congratulate her for the victory."

By the time Snowy landed, both the hailstorm and her Aurora Veil dissipated, revealing the wobbly Swampert over there. She turned to them, bowed in response to the Swampert's smile (think of it like how gamers would say "GG" after a match or something), and... well, just stood there as they collapsed. It took the Alolan Ninetales quite some time before realizing that she had won the four-way match. Somehow.

Meanwhile, Cherry clearly couldn't believe her eyes when the last foe fell down. She witnessed it with this "Wait, what?" look on her face. Cue silence on the red-haired girl's part... until Snowy tackle-hugged her. "Whoa, Snowy!" Cherry yelped in surprise. "Good job out there, mate," she praised the blue Ninetales as the latter snuggled her.

And then the ice-type girls (one human, one Pokemon) saw Lucas heading back. "Welp, sorry hun," Cherry abruptly apologized as Snowy went back to her ball. "Just take a rest now." With that out of the way, she followed Lucas back to the audience room (?).

Chance smiled a wry smile at the dark type trainer as he gave him a few jabs.

"Always on your toes, are you? I can respect that too." Replied chance to the info. He listened intently and peered over his conversation partner's Cincinno, nodding in agreement to his words. A few more sounds of explosive attacks and destruction were followed by quiet which signaled to Chance he had missed the end of the first fight. "Forgive me for chatting and dashing, but I do have a bit of obligation to run this show. Stick around though, I'd like to speak with you further about some plans I have." He rushed over to the glass to see the results without another word to Jackie. The Swampert laying on the ground was truly a surprising sight, and he stepped quickly down the stairs to congratulate the victor, likely arriving alongside her at the same time as Lucas. "What an upset, Cherry. No need to bully the guys though! Could have taken it easy on 'em." He gave her a playful slap on the shoulder after taking her hand and shaking it vigorously. He then turned to Lucas. "Lucas, was it? I don't remember inviting you, but I sure am glad you showed up. If both of you are interested, I have an opportunity I think you'd like to hear. After the next match if you'd stick around, I'll fill you in on the details. Run along now, both of you. I'm going to be participating in the next one myself, with Leader Doragon up there. Lucky we weren't in the last match, eh Cherry?" He said as he waived over his shoulder, walking away from them to the other end of the arena. He pointed his finger towards a speaker on the far wall and a small jolt of electricity jumped from it to the device. His voice then rang out clearly over the intercom in the booth as he spoke. "Ladies and gentlemen, Gym Leader Doragon has agreed to take me up on our next exhibition battle for the evening. Doragon? Would you agree to choose one pokemon to fight alongside you against myself and Kaminari? You should remember him from the last time we sparred." As if to accentuate his last point, Chance threw out a pokeball from the sleeve of his yellow kimono. It was a standard one who's colors were faded with age slightly. Out from it came a large and sturdy looking Raichu, who stretched and then turned around with an eager expression to face it's trainer.

"Raaaaaa" Squeeked the large electric mouse before dashing the few steps to cover the distance between he and Chance, and climbing up his torso to be worn like a backpack affectionately nuzzling the man's cheek.

Okay, I was kidding when I said that Cherry went back right away. Actually, she was about to do so when Chance came over. He shook her hand and remarked with a playful slap on her shoulder, "What an upset, Cherry. No need to bully the guys though! Could have taken it easy on 'em." Heck, her cheeks went rosy upon hearing that!

As for this opportunity Chance was talking about, Cherry couldn't help but to wonder what it could be. I hope it's gonna be the greatest plan... she thought. But then Chance's "I'm going to be participating in the next one myself, with Leader Doragon up there. Lucky we weren't in the last match, eh Cherry?" snapped her back to reality. "Huh? Oh, yeah, yeah. Would be troublesome even for me," Cherry nodded in agreement.

With that out of the way, Cherry went back to the party for real. Her memories briefly flew back to those times when Doragon's Dragonite and Chance's Vikavolt were proven to be troublesome during their respective gym battles. But now the two gym leaders were about to have their own match in Chance's home turf. Ooo boi, 'tis gonna be fun~ Cherry thought in excitement as she turned her attention to the arena.
