Victoria's face quickly flushed red when Naoto took her hand "I-I...." unable to form a sentence at the moment, if she were a machine smoke might have been comming from her ears. Feeling like putty in Naoto's hand she hung on Every word they said. "you are right...I should be more....try to..." Victoria still couldn't find the correct words as partial sentences fell from her mouth. After Naoto finished she shook her head to clear out any current thoughts from her mind of Naoto. Clearing her throat before pulling her hands away gently and slipping her hoody off, a black tank top was all she had on under it. Tying the hoody around her waist before letting out a sigh of relief, gently hitting her head with her fist and sticking her tongue out before taking a seat next to them. Sipping on the lemonade some more.
"It was my preconceptions of you is all, nothing personal, I hope you can forgive me Haruo" setting the cup down next to her, examining her skin, she couldn't believe how much Min's constant assurance that no one at the school would judge her was right. But what really pushed her over the edge was Naoto's explanation or speech or rather his delivery of the speech.

Giggling at Haruo's attempt the cheer her up as she nudged him with her shoulder
"thank you, both of you...I'd say that Naoto you have a silver tongue and Haruo you are the goofy one but I can see why the girls talk about you both" Her cheeks turning red as she looked up at Haruo, winking at Naoto before she spoke. "so Haruo...should I consider this a date since you got me a drink?" teasing him a bit as she leaned against his arm and gently held onto his bicep with her hands. "If not then what is a girl supposed to think....unless Naoto wants to be the prince charming for today? stroking his bicep as she watched the two of them. What she was really after was someone to get close to like she had Min, Min always made her feel calm and safe. This time it was different for Victoria, she was letting others freely see her skin it made her feel uneasy and nervous, especially considering where they were "Maybe one of you wouldnt mind taking me on some rides or...." trailing off at the end, her hands starting to shake bit as she got closer to Haruo and hold on slightly tighter. "I definitely feel more confident now but places with lots of people to this degree make me scared" Haruo would have been able to feel Victoria's heart beating rapidly in her chest, just exposing her skin was a lot to her, showing anything other than her neck and head was even abnormal.

"--Huh?"

Haruo's eyes widened as Victoria leaned in and seemed to suddenly put the moves on him. More than anything, he wasn't used to the sudden physical touch, as it seemed to give him pause for a brief second, until he eventually gathered his bearings again, clearing his throat and sitting up straight. He shifted in his seat slightly, almost seeming to pull away for an inch, but ultimately let Victoria stay on him.

Clearing his throat, the boy let out a soft sigh. "Jeez... Talk about a tonal whiplash. I didn't even do anything that impressive anyway," he said, as though attempting to brush off any praise toward his way. He otherwise didn't respond to the verbal teasing, not wanting to let himself be flushed by someone he had to console (not really), keeping his brow furrowed in an almost grumpy looking manner.

Shrugging their arms up, Naoto let out a light-hearted chuckle. "Well, far be it from me to escort a cute girl around, but... looks like you have your type," they said, gesturing toward Haruo. "Besides, in a way, I'm a girl too, you know. Unless you're into that."

"You're coming out to her already?"

"We are having a bonding session here, aren't we?"

"Maybe you are," Haruo muttered, before looking toward Victoria. "... Sure, we can go on some rides if you want. There's nothing to be scared of here."

Victoria leaned back, no longer touching him seeing his expression and reaction to her touch. "S-Sorry if I made you uncomfortable Haruo" standing up and bowing over and over before sitting back down. "I'm not quite sure what I am into yet but...Haruo seems really nice, not that you aren't Naoto...you are cute too" laughing nervously while the two of them had a small conversation between them.
"That would be nice, I've never been to a theme park before so this whole experience is new to me" sitting on her hands as she glanced at Naoto "is Haruo usually so nervous around cute girls or just being touched by others?" Scooting a little back from Haruo wanting to give him some space and not crowd him.

"It's... fine. You didn't do anything wrong," Haruo breathed, averting his gaze awkwardly when Victoria initially seemed to apologize. He would have said more, but what else could he have really said? It seemed like everything else was inadequate if it wasn't self-explanatory. Then again, all things considered, maybe he was the one who ought to be more careful.

Fwoosh.

As Victoria turned toward Naoto next, with a strange sound, the person who once took the appearance of a black haired boy suddenly morphed into that of a long-haired girl. In other words, seemingly without even meaning to, Naoto had shifted from their male appearance to their female appearance seamlessly. Without even drawing any attention to their sudden transformation otherwise, Naoto gave a soft chuckle.

"Well, I don't make him nervous, and I'm the cutest, so probably not the former!" Naoto responded to Victoria with a giggle, before their expression stiffened a bit, as though becoming just a tad more serious. "But... I guess you could say that, sure. That he's not used to being touched, that is. He doesn't really talk about himself that much, but... I suppose we all have our own baggage," she whispered to Victoria.

"Though, I'm sure he'd get more used to it over time! Or maybe he really does like it deep down! He used to be kinda weird about it too whenever I'd hugged him when we first met. Doesn't he just look really huggable in that cozy coat of his?"

"He does....like a teddy..." Victoria admitted to Naoto before looking Haruo over briefly. "So it isnt just me then, that's good to know but he has never once shared why he doesn't seem to like physical contact? It isnt as if I bite...well unless they want me to" winking at Naoto before switching sides of the bench "Hm...Naoto would you want to be my date for today since Haruo doesn't seem all that interested in me?" Seeming a little saddened by that fact alone, she really did like Haruo but had never seen a boy who didnt enjoy being touched by a girl "Haruo, do you like guys by chance? Min told me one to not get discouraged if a guy turns me down because he might just not like girls, or isnt interested" tilting her head as she waited for a reply.

Donovan smiled, seeing the target split off with one other. Tapping his ear he said “And so the curtain rises on our prologue” Approaching the two girls from behind he conjured a rose. Excuse me ladies, did one of you drop this?” As they turned around and met his eyes he smiled “Sleep” he commanded. As they began to fall two people hurried to catch them.

[15 minutes later]
Izzy glanced around, fidgeting nervously. “Uhh guys? Where are Min and Wen? I don’t see them by the snack stand anymore. And...where is everyone?” The area around them had oddly cleared out. There wasn’t a soul to be found outside of the students. Not even staff seemed to be present. Claude looked at his smartwatch. “Heartland doesn’t really ever close, they have a massive hotel castle thing going on for any overnight tourists. The attractions don’t close for 6 more hours. So where might’ve the people gone?” he explained, scanning the surroundings for any activity.

Just then, the area around the group went dark. A single spotlight shone down on a masked and caped man next to the two mentioned girls who were bound and gagged. Min was unconscious while Wen was struggling against the chains that bound her. “I’ve been waiting for you, wannabe heroes. You really should keep better track of yourselves” he said as he pulled a sword out from behind his back “I could end them now” he placed the tip of the sword against Wen’s neck and she stilled. “But instead, I think I’ll have a bit of fun.”

Victoria clenched her fists "let Min go!" She demanded, foolishly charging the man before her. She didnt really have a plan but if she could get close enough she felt that she could just pummel him to death. Picking up speed, sliding towards him and putting her weight and all her strength behind a single punch. "Get away from big sis!!!!" She yelled as her punch came around, it was aimed for middle of his chest. She didn't know what was going on but hated the idea of anything happening to her dear friends, even if it for a few moments cost Victoria her own life.

"Wen! Min!" Haruo called out in a shock as things suddenly took a turn, the two of them in the clutches of a strange man who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. If he didn't know any better, he'd almost find himself thinking this was an elaborate act, but well, surely they wouldn't pull something in such bad taste.

Funny how quickly things could change. Just 15 minutes ago, he was having a really weird conversation about trauma and which team he played for, and now they were having a fatal crisis here. Out of the frying pan and into the fire, to be insensitive about it.

"Hey, wait!" Naoto -- still in their female form -- exclaimed urgently, tightly grabbing Victoria's arm to prevent her from doing anything rash. "That guy literally has a sword right to Wen's neck! Do you want her to get hurt?!" They exclaimed, scowling seriously. "If only I could just..." Naoto began to murmur, as though beginning to formulate some sort of plan to get the drop on the man.

Gritting his teeth, meanwhile, Haruo clenched his fist and took a step forward. "Just let them go! Who are you anyway?! And what do you want?!" He exclaimed back to back toward the man, shaking where he stood as though entirely unable to hold in his emotions.

Claude let out a sigh. Could they do anything without something wrong happening? He'd already had such terrible luck at doing all but one game during their time here when he hung out with Wen and Izzy, and he was completely stomped out by Izzy since he couldn't use his ability for the unnatural luck boost. At least he could suppose he had fun. But of course, fate decided that it would not go without sending strife his way.

Claude stood up calmly, working out probabilities as he looked at the armed man. It was smart, knocking out Min and putting Wen in chains. It seems these person did their research. But how they knew that they'd be here today amongst tens of thousands of guests eluded him. It just didn't add up. " First off, don't call me a wannabe hero, I don't like nor do I want to be a hero. But I will say this is interesting. You've obviously been doing your homework for this meeting to happen, so let's hear it. You can't possibly get me to think you don't have a point to all this." Claude opened, fixing the man with a rather bored look. He was a little aggravated, if he was honest; seeing his friends apprehended and at the end of a blade. But if there was anything to do in this moment, it wouldn't be to break face and give him leverage. He let his blue over jacket slip off his shoulders and pulled up his black Jeans in an effort to appear unaffected, looking at the armed kidnapper with a smile. If diplomacy didn't work, he was sure a bullet could hit him before his sword pierced his friends.

He glanced at the others, taking in their reactions. Victoria, whose name he learned from a little eavesdropping, seemed to be stressed, same as Haruo. At least Naoto was rational. He wished he could tell them to calm down, but the more he thought of it, they worked well as a distraction.......A gamble. He could work with this. His golden eyes glinted in the sunlight as he smirked slightly, looking back at the masked man. "So then, I believe you spoke of fun? I do hope you have something grand in store, or i might just go to sleep. You aren't a very convincing actor, and I doubt you'll spoil the only thing keeping you alive by killing your captors."

As he was rushed, the Mask did nothing. Instead he merely laughed as Victoria passed through him. The images of Wen and Min disappeared as well and the phantom laughing continued. “Well done, very decisive. But you don’t even know the rules of the game. Geo, if you would.”

Stone walls arose through the assembled group, cutting them off from each other. Claude, Haruo, Izzy and Al on one side. Victoria, Naoto, Josh, Raygen, and Rei on the other.

“A fine choice Geo” the voice said, obviously talking to someone out of sight. “Now little heroes, are you ready to p-”

[A dramatic entrance!]
images

“Phantom!” a voice called out from the distance, above the scene. “Still picking on unskilled heroes are we? Looks like you never learn. No wonder you’re D-list.” A girl was perched at the top of the wall. A leg on either side.

Disgust crept into the voice of the one now named Phantom. “Holly. Why are you here?”

“To be honest, I came to relax. Then I saw Geo and I thought something was up. Turns out I was right. Besides” she continued looking down on either side. “If you’re gonna play a game, you should even out the teams.” She dropped down, joining the group Claude was in.

Phantom laughed again. “Very well then. But if you’re gonna help them I’ll have to raise the stakes. Ok heroes, here’s the deal. If you win, you get your girls back. If you lose though…” he paused, building the tension. “If you lose, you leave HAPI and give up on being heroes.”

The wall fell, the ground returned to its normal state.“Where you are standing now is the center of the park. It’s Heart if you will. My associate Geo has chosen your teams You see the line on the ground? This runs through the entirety of the park and divides it evenly. Come. Find me and my associates. If you cross the line or attempt to help the other team, you lose and you’ll never see your friends again. Let’s begin”

The darkness disappeared and the crowd returned.

[Backstage]
As the two girls came to, they realized they were in a lush office of sorts. Dozens of screens settled along a wall, cycling through different cameras.
latest
Noticing them stirring, Geo looked up towards them. “Oh, you’re awake. Good. I apologize for how this has played out, but we needed proper motivation. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Geo, I’m in the Force division of the Discipline Committee. Several of the freshman class are promising potential new members and we need to test them in a real world, but controlled situation. Our research shows that you two are important figures to many of the candidates and the desire to rescue you would be a powerful motivator. I would very much appreciate it if you kept this our secret until the test is concluded."

Victoria looked at Naoto, pulling her arm free before dropping down onto her knees holding her head, this situation was stressing her out quite a bit. Starting to breath faster, taking in sharp breaths as she started to have a mental breakdown. "Min......too many people....I....I....can't..." tears filling her eyes as she curled up on the ground, she wasn't exactly ready for something like this yet and it showed. With her only real friend not there she was terrified in large crowds and with so many strangers. "Big sis.....where are you?!?!?!" it would have been obvious that Victoria was going to be useless in her current state especially with this situation drudging up old memories. "Please don't hurt me daddy I'll be good I promise....." shaking as tears ran down her cheeks. Victoria soon found herself in the dark recess of her mind as she started reliving the hell that was her life, each day a different form of torture, more extreme than the previous. Only Min knew about her past and how she was treated at this point in time, if the wrong thing was said she was just as likely to calm down or try and slit that persons throat open.

Victoria had two personalities one was the shy girl who really just wanted friends and to be normal while the other was twisted and dark. Taking pleasure in her own or others cries of pain as they were ceremoniously picked apart piece by piece. The darker one very rarely bubbled to the surface except under certain circumstances and based on what just happened there a fifty fifty chance on who the group would have on their team while trying to rescue Min and Wen. If it were the dark one....she would be more of a liability as she is irrational and violent as to where the other side can be logical and even has a photographic memory which would come in handy while searching for their friends.

1581619355754.pngHeartland Event: B.R
B.R had been quite as the others wandered around enjoying the park. Keeping track of everyone as they wandered around he was excitedly waiting for the targets to wander off. He didn't worry though, his powers already let him see how this was going to end so he didn't worry. Keeping an ever present smile on his face as he watched the others enjoy themselves. As they finally sat down to reste, he watched as his two targets left and were taken.

The first step was already done, let's see how these kids do against a lead DC member, B.R. said with a playful chuckle. This is their test, let's see what they can do.

Donovan made his entrance, extravagant as usual B.R. kept the smile on his face as he placed a hand to his cheek. "Oh my! How dangerous! Those poor girls!" Watching as the small girl rushed toward Donovan passing through the illusion. "A illusion?!" He said in feigned surprise. B.R's actions would have been suspicious but with the scene all focused on Donovan he became a tertiary character in the situation.

Right on time Holly came to set the stage for the applicants while Geo split them up. B.R was with the remainder group. Noticing the small meltdown with Victoria B.R. Placed a gentle hand on her head. "No frets little one. She'll be alright" He tapped his bandaged eyes and smiled down at her, "I've seen it all." Patting her head he stood back up and looked at the others.

As the others began to worry B.R. Raised up a hand. "If I may have your attention. It seems we're in a spot of trouble with the dangerous Phantom of Heartland. No worries honored guests, If you'd follow me this way I'll lead you where you need to go." B.R said with that smile, as he pulled out a flag from his jacket and began to lead them away from the rock wall and further into Heartland.

The roads one brimming with people now quiet and eerie. The ominous feeling of being watched presing upon the group to stay together and not to stray away. B.R happily lead the group toward a huge tent opening the large doors of the draping tent, "One at a time please, right this way and you'll be right where you need to be."

To any question B.R would smile and reply with a warm and knowing voice, "all in time." Urging everyone in once they were inside he closed the door and darkness engulfed the tent.

The Primadonna of the Stage
As the darkness adjusted light emitted on red curtains a large figure casted its shadow across the curtains. A soft voice rang out as the curtains rose and opened, revealing a large carousel that began to swirl and spin to the beautiful song emanating from it.

A figure above controlled the lights illuminating the area with ruby lighting. The disheveled carts came to life and began to transform into bipedal machines that roamed the vast area. B.R. seemingly vanished as the other looked back to him. A loud screech erupted from the loudspeakers as garbled voices began to try to make sounds. The carousel music grew louder as the soft voice began to rise.

The carousel began to twist and rise as the voice grew louder. Large metal plates fell down to protect the carousel's central beam and power source. The carousel transformed into a large mechanical woman who's voice erupted into loud sonic waves from the mechanical woman.

The static of the intercom crackled again as the carousel woman began to move and creek towards the group as her voice grew louder as she sang. The cart robots began to twitch and stutter before looking at the group with glowing eyes.

The danger only seems to be rising.

1581641826471.pngHeartland Event: Min Johannas
Min had been unconscious on the floor from Donovan's hypnotic suggestion. The suggestion wearing off, Min wearily woke up. She rubbed her eyes and sat up to look around at what was going on. She looked over to see Wen and then over to a boy she didn't recognize. Blinking up at him Min tilted her head to him, "h-hello?" Min asked with curious. Staring at him as he kindly introduced himself as Geo.

As he seemed to be nice Min smiled and gave a gentle nod, "O-okay?" Min was very easy to trust so she already believed that everything was told to her, with only mild suspicion. Pulling a strand of her hair behind her ear she looked at him. "So this is like the Disciplinary Committee's mock trial for new recruits? Do the others know about this?" Pausing for a moment as the grogginess of waking from hypnosis wore off, Min began to piece two and two together. "Was this why I got so many extra tickets for Heartland?" Min said thinking back to how she received the tickets.

Looking from him to the screens Min looked at the others on the screen with worry. "Are they going to be okay? You guys aren't going to hurt him are you?" She said glancing at the trials everyone was set up to go against. This stranger did say he was part of the DC, but what if he was lying and this was all a trick? Should I do something? Min questioned to herself.

Glancing over at Wen who was still unconscious she wondered what would happen when she woke up. Unlike Min, Wen was much more of a active person. Should I wake her up? No it maybe letting her sleep is the best thing. Min decided to herself afraid that Wen would probably punch first and ask questions later.

When Wen woke up, angry was a wood that was such an understatement, like comparing a mortal to a god. "Who the ABSOLUTE fuck?!" After regaining a subtle amount of her consciousness, she stirred completely, going on the offensive. As 'Geo' tried to explain their position and the reasoning for this, she bared her teeth viciously, snarling at them. "I would say that's a fucking good idea, if you had a shred of an idea of what you're doing."

"You're so fucking stupid you don't even know the students." She seemed to calm down a bit, but pulled her hair up into a singular pony tail, ready for the physical fighting if this little twerp tried her. She glared at the computer screen for just a few seconds before going on a rant. "I'd fucking be beat to a pulp before I let someone capture me, fucking idiot. You got Min right being a pussy bitch, likable and all. You got me wrong though. 'Important figures' Get your fucking research right."

She knew out of the entire class, she was probably the most disliked for her short temper.

"Try again, short stuff. Get out of my way before you ruin my reputation. I won't let those weaklings get pummeled because you decided they could go without their mommy for five minutes. "

It looked like she wasn't taking no for an answer, and battling her, even being practiced would almost definitely lead to a mass amount of collateral damage even if a unit managed to take down the raging psychopath.

AE4358B0-D593-4AB2-B7CD-568DD6769872.jpeg Heartland Event: Min JohannasBefore Geo could answer a single one of her questions a loud shouting shook the area. Min looked over to see Wen shooting up and snarling at the duo.

"Oh you asked questions first!" Min said excitedly as Wen shouted. She didn't intend to say that outloud but Min rolled with it. Happily clasping her hands together she tilted her head and smiled "I'm learning more about you Wen. You aren't just a dumb rage monster!" Min said in a warm yet semi-mocking tone, she was nicer but she still was pretty harsh.

Min listened to Wen's rant and her smile faded to a friend of annoyance. Min trusted Geo enough not to escape, especially with the set up in front of her. If it was true then she didn't want to get in the way. She knew how much joining the Disciplinary Committee meant to Claude and she was sure some of the others were curious. However, she had to agree that she wasn’t sure this was the way to do things. Though after being called a ‘pussy bitch’ Min didn’t want to agree with Wen on anything.

So, out of pettiness, she decided to stand firm on the pro DC side. Standing to her feet Min let her anger match Wen's, figuring taking a calm approach was already out the window.

“Hey!” Min shouted to get Wen’s attention. “Stop and think with that brain you claim you have!” Min gestures around to the large office like room. “Look around, we’re in a room with no windows or doors. You’re trapped.” Min said, not including herself. “I know this is unconventional, but at the very least, Claude was interested in joining the DC. Are you really going to ruin his chance of joining? What kind of friend are you to him if you don’t even believe he can win one fight? Let alone the others! They are all capable supers without us!”

She glared at Wen and flipped her hair before leaning back. “Forget your bruised ego from being kidnapped and your insecurities about being liked and take a breath!”

“Besides, if he is a DC member your just going to get your ass handed to you. Then we’re back to square one and probably worse off! ” Min hissed angrily, she was usually calm and cheerful, but Wen got and stayed on her bad side. Maybe it was because she reminded her of what the people in her home were like and it rubbed her the wrong way. The more likely reason is that she was more like her than Min wanted to accept.

"You're kidding me right? You're gaslighting me now of all times?" She knew Min would just make fun of her further if she proceeded to yell like the animal she was at heart. She needed to stick it to her first before she went on to destroying the walls. "How about thinking of helping your friends? Even with a controlled course, you know they could get hurt badly. Not everyone can't carry a fucking mission, princess."

"No, but instead, what your solution is to mock me, an anger oriented person, knowing that would make me go into a primal rage. I thought you were smart. Really, you're just a grudge holding dog. We may not be friends, but we're in the same class, and the fact you'd think I'd put someone else down just so I could go ape-shit on some stupid bogus test is insulting. You think some committee would blame Claude for some crazy ass dog's actions?"

After her truth ridden speech, she held her head. "What the fuck did you put in those sedatives? I feel like my brain is going to fucking explode."

She shook her head, tightening her ponytail. "So, Geo, you let me go deal with whatever test you concocted, or you know, I'll bust through these walls as if they were paper. Casual things."

It seems whatever they used to sleep the beast is slowing down Wen's usually high blood pressure and overall rage aided personality.

Min was so confused by what Wen said she cocked her head lost for a moment. the girl was using doubble negatives, mixing up subjects and contradicting her own claims. Making her 'reasoning' impossible to understand. For the sake of her sanity, Min Ignored the gibberish the girl was spouting she placed a hand on her temple. "If yelling at you makes you think before you go attacking a DC member and destroying a place neither of us know where we're at. Then it did the job." Min said with a sigh, she wasn't even going to try to figure out what Wen was saying at this point. "If I believed you'd listen to me without being yelled at, I would. But we both know you wouldn't." Min added giving her a cold look. A bit perturbed that Wen called her 'princess'.

As Wen turned her attention back to Geo and threatened him again. Min was actually getting engraged by what she was hearing. "Why can't you just sit still and wait?" Min said growing more aggravated at the fact they're back to the same problem. How is it that this girl functions at all? Min thought as Wen went right back to her single track thought.

Min was done, her life chip could process hundreds of chemical equations while she was preforming brain surgery, but Wen literally made no sense. "Wen. Just let the DC do their job. If they spent this much time and effort setting this up, they must have precautions in place. Do you really think you, a untrained, cocky, and in your words 'anger oriented' kid, would really help anyone? You charging in like a fool would probably do more harm than good."

"You want to prove that you are smart? Then stop threatening to bust down walls and fight things and be patient! Is it really that hard for you to just sit down, be quiet and listen to anyone? If you'd shut your mouth and just listen maybe you'd gain some important information that could actually help them." Min condoned, not even realizing how much she sounded like her mother in that moment. "Or does your brain literally only keep one thought at a time."

Knowing Wen would try to either fight her or, god forbid, argue back with more nonsense Min raise a hand. "You know what? Don't say anything. You clearly aren't capable of explaining yourself and I don't want to deal with your stupidity." Min sat down in a chair and waved Wen off. "Go on, do your raging bull thing, destroy the park trying to find them, put innocent lives in danger. It won't be my fault when you mess up. Go. Prove me right. Beast." Min had decided that was an aptly placed nickname for the girl. Min knew where she just left Wen and knew she was in the position of being proven right regardless of her actions.

"Leave Highland if I lose? Wait, I literally don't consent to that--" Haruo started to quip, but it seemed that no one was looking for his permission, or the rest of the group's for that matter. He probably should have expected as much. A lot happened, and the boy was still struggling to wrap his head around it. Just when it seemed like they were ready to end the day, instead they were pulled into some sort of twisted game from some unknown assailants, and more than that, they had to do it split in half evidently.

But that's okay. A cute girl has arrived in the nick of time to even the teams.

...

"Once this is all over, remind me to ask just who the heck you are," Haruo uttered to the mysterious girl claiming to be on their side, evidently named "Holly" from the look of it. He didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but he was hard pressed to rely on others as it was anyway. But there'd be more time to talk this all over after the fact, if there was going to be an after.

"Oh."

Naoto was, similarly, flabbergasted at the sudden display before them. They could do nothing but stare in shock at the wall, the subsequent appearance of Holly, and the intrusion of B.R. as well. It had even gotten to the point that their grip on Victoria loosened, allowing her to break free... and break down from the looks of it.

Ah, this was troubling, in many different ways.

Naoto was hardly the most adept in helping people get through panic attacks, but well, they were like right next to Victoria so it kinda fell on them, for better or for worse. Gingerly sinking to their knees to Victoria's level, the shapeshifter placed a hand on the crying girl. "U-Uh, I'm not your daddy. He's not here now. I'm not your mommy either, but I guess that's beside the point," they rambled briefly. "But you can't just stay here like this. Your big sis Min is counting on you to save her! W-Wen too, if you've met her. You have to be strong for 'em, alright?! We need to get a move on..." Naoto continued, helping Victoria up with the help of B.R. who subsequently took the reins to lead them to where they needed to go.

It was a shame that Naoto didn't fully understand the power of this so-called Heartland Phantom. Whatever his power was, it looked pretty wild, and so to copy it would definitely be a big help, but as it stood, they had to make do with the info they presently had.

Surely, this creepy tent is gonna--

OOOOOOH MY GOD!

Upon laying eyes on the robotic monstrosity that formed in front of them, Naoto was at a loss initially, but quickly shook themself back to their senses, dashing protectively in front of the rest of their group. "Stay close! I take it this isn't exactly a warm welcome in store for us," they clicked their tongue, narrowed eyes watching the robots focus their attention on the groups. They had taken note of B.R.'s disappearance, putting into question as whether or not this was a deliberate trap, or perhaps even more disconcerting, that they were actually exactly where they needed to be.

"Anyone got a plan they wanna share with the rest of the class? If not, I can pull some rabbits out of a hat if I gotta!" Naoto exclaimed, quickly formulating a plan in their head with the powers available to them.

Heartland Event: GeoGeo smiled at Min and her questions. "One at a time please" he said with a smile. He quickly turned that into a frown as Wen exploded on both Min and him. The room began to shake as Wen went on her tirade and then threatened Geo's operation. "ENOUGH! You with your threats" he said, glaring towards Wen. Shifting his gaze to Min he continued "and you with your insults and holier-than-thou attitude. You are both proving yourselves embarrassments to Highland Academy and yourselves. You were invited to Highland because it was believed you could make something great of yourselves but you both have your heads up your asses. Right now I question the Headmaster's decision in inviting you." Exhaling slowly, the shaking ceased. "I do not want to restrain you, but I will if I have to."

"If you will please give me a moment to speak I'd be happy to go through everything. You seem fairly impatient Miss Róuruǎn so I'll answer your questions first." Crossing one leg over the other he rested his chin on his fist. "So first off, yes we will fail Claude for your actions now that you know the situation. In fact we will fail the whole lot of those the test is for and they will need to wait until next year at the earliest before they will even be considered. Second, you're welcome to try to punch through these walls, and you may even succeed but we are far underground. So I suppose if you're fine with burying us all and dooming us to suffocation, not to mention the consequences for you that will come from it, by all means. Whether you believe it or not you are important to several of the Freshman class. Isaura Reed considers you a friend, as does Claude Allcrest and Haruo Shiguchi. And even if she'll deny it, you matter to Miss Johannas here, albeit more in a rival capacity. As for the sedatives, it was a hypnosis ability. Side effects are rare but not unheard of. There is a cabinet behind you with some pills that should help and the mini fridge next to it has some water if you would like."

Turning to Min he nodded. "This is no mock trial, this is in fact their initiation test for the Disciplinary Committee. After review we find that those in the group alongside our third-in-command Holly have shown qualities and abilities we desire in the committee. We do have precautions in place. Injuries are expected, that's the nature of having powers and going to a school dedicated to making heroes. But should things go too far or major injuries or worse become a possibility the plug will be pulled immediately and depending on the situation, with no marks against the recruits. In addition both groups have a DC member with them, even our villain is a DC member. But yes, this was part of the reason you received so many tickets to the park."

"I was invited to this school for the same reason I'm not trying to stay here. Being still and watching people get hurt isn't exactly on my quota. You know." She wouldn't say anything about her unusual blood pressure or anything else that might make her seem weak, but she did manage to make her way over to the fridge and grabbed some water, and then some pills. She chugged a few without a word, but a warning expression. "Still pretty shitty you'd think of failing other students for another's actions though. Sounds like some real elementary bullshit. But I guess that's where you're from?" She stuck out her tongue playfully.

"Plus, what even is your power? I know Geo is like earth or somethin' right? You move Earth? Or is that just like a name because you break Earth or something? Or parents were just assholes?" She walked a bit closer to him, crouching down. Her large boot like heels with her tall height made her a towering figure, but she seemed to have fun teasing short people. "Because, if it is the first one, you might have a problem with restraining me. This ain't a threat, short stuff. It's a warning. Let's say I do tear a hole in the ceiling and do manage to get out, who's fault is that? Claude's? The rest of the Freshmen? Or the baby who couldn't keep a stupid bitch in her place?"

That's when she laughed out fucking loud, finally standing up. "But you putting princess in her place was kind of funny though, so you know. I'll let you off, I guess. But she was totally right about the stupid part. I kind of am. So you know, may not think rationally if you decide to raise your fucking voice at me," Her tone changed from uplifting and teasing to suddenly serious at the end of the sentence but lightened up once more. "Alright?"

"But one more warning, and I'll sit my pretty ass down and tease Min until I'm bored and then break out. Haruo gets a fucking hair on his head out of place, DC will have a mole problem. Whether you take that as a huge lady who eats dirt to get out of an underground lair or some random person who sells out to villains, I don't care. You will have some kind of problem, whether it's you personally, or whatever DC member hurt him."

So she sat her ass down, spreading her legs, her mini skirt hitching up with a sly smile on her face. "Go on with your fucking test now." She then looked over to Min. "Care to sit on my lap princess? My stupid head hurts from all that thinking."

Heartland Event: HollyHolly took off as the test began, motioning and leading the group to behind a food stall. "Sorry for the rushed into. I'm Hollis Mann, but everyone just calls me Holly. I've become a psuedo protector of Heartland and I've faced off against Phantom plenty of times before, he likes to play games with whoever he targets. His challenges are never impossible but they're never easy either. This is the first time I've ever seen him take hostages though, so I'm not really sure what to expect."

Cupping her hands a light emanated from them as the light faded she opened her hands to reveal a few pieces of jewelry.

They seem to think that my previous encounters here with Phantom are some sort of live show, so I've just kind of leaned into it. Here. I know it's a bit ridiculous, but these will not only boost your abilities but help you blend in without scaring the civilians and causing a panic. That's my ability, creating magic jewelry. All you have to do is kiss the gem, say "Star light, Star Bright, it's time to battle evil's might." Holly flushed and looked away embarrassed "I know it's silly, but I made it up when I was a little kid and it kinda stuck."

Heartland Event: Geo Geo gave a strained smile. "I apologize for raising my voice. Experience with younger siblings has shown me that when people are squabbling like children, being loud gets their attention. As for my name, yes and no. My parents were hippies and named me Geode, I just shortened it. But my ability is to manipulate earth, stone, and metal. We can't fail them for your escape, we can fail them for your interference." Spinning around to one of the computers he sent off a message to his boss. "Huh. Ok then." He spun around back to Wen. "Having your first instinct be to rescue someone is an admirable quality, Miss Róuruǎn. But there are benefits to stopping to think when you don't know everything about a situation. Your foe may have booby trapped a hostage. On a more personal example. If you consistently rush to Haruo's rescue it may undermine his confidence to be a hero, thinking he can't do anything without you being there to save him if he screws up. But we could discuss hypotheticals all day and not get anywhere. If you would like to make sure nothing we do harms your friend, why don't you take a DC member's place in this test? Provided you stick to the guidelines we provide, you would be free to control his challenge however you wish with the full support of the DC. My boss has already approved of the plan"

"Ah, hippies, the worlds worst super villains. A shame." She crossed her arms as Geode went on, even messaging his boss as she sat on the floor like an ignored animal. Talking about her protective attitude wouldn't do Haruo any good. Yeah, right. He'd already be taken by some super villain if she wasn't there, and it was probably the same with a few of her other classmates, but she hasn't seen most of them working first hand. Then he mentioned something she was actually interested in.

"Take the place of a D.C member? Well, yeah, I know I'm that good, but I didn't expect people to realize that yet. Oh well, I guess I'm just that awesome. Yeah, I'll do it, make sure none of you fuck up my squishy too bad. What are the guidelines?" It seems even being as stupid as she was, she was pliant enough to hear out the guidelines the superiors we're going to be setting for her.

"Just so you know, I'm cursing out whatever asshat created that illusion of me that wasn't fighting back. Disgusting portrayal of character. Very inaccurate and unprofessional." She made sure to add, as an extra warning.

Heartland Event: GeoI was kind of hoping the intel was wrong. Should have known better Geo thought to himself. "The guidelines themselves,in broad strokes, are fairly simple." He opened a drawer and pulled out a key. "His goal will be to get this from you. Your goal is to make it difficult but not impossible. You're free to decide his test. Under no circumstances are you to reveal the truth about what is going on until after the test is concluded for all the participants. So you'll have to lie to him. About what's going on, why he has to face you, all of that stuff. You'll have to think fast since the test has already begun, but you'll have the DC's resources at your disposal.

The DC functions much like the Turf War club you're a part of. But instead of protecting the school from the outside, we deal with what lies within. Which means we need members willing to throw themselves in the deep end without having all the information. And against other students since we're the ones that break up the fights."

"Oh, good. Well, never too late for an old dog to learn new tricks," Haruo briskly breathed in response to Holly. It was one thing to hear that this wasn't the Phantom's first rodeo, like a recurring villain for a hero, but it was another to hear that this case in particular wasn't something he'd done before. By itself, it didn't mean too much to someone who only had just heard of him, but it did make an element or two about the story a bit suspect.

In the meantime, as they continued making their way forward, the boy furrowed his brow as Holly introduced the pieces of jewelry before him and the others in their group, initially unsure of what to make of them even after their function was explained. "Power-enhancing jewels, huh? And I thought Christmas only came once a year," he commented, taking one for himself if allowed to. It wasn't the first time he'd heard about special objects that complemented or even gave powers, but to have one allocated to him was admittedly a bit surreal.

Tossing the jewel in the air and catching it in an almost nonchalant gesture as if to mask his actual underlying anxiety, Haruo let out another breath. "Do I look like a magical girl to you? But... if this is for real..." He murmured, as if not needing too much convincing to go through with it. Anything to get Wen and Min back safe and sound.

Furrowing his brow, Haruo cleared his throat. "So, do you have any clue on where your Phantom might be then?" He asked, deciding to get a move on with whatever leads Holly might have.

1582219635410.pngHeartland Event: Min Johann"I don't see how I'm being scolded for being right." She huffed, still upset at the whole situation.Hostage wasn't anything new to her. She's been confined in enough rooms to figure out whether one was underground or not. Let alone whether to agitate her captors or play nice. She blamed Wen, everything is much easier when that girl isn't around, she thought to herself. Holding onto that attitude for a moment longer she out a sigh. "However, thank you. Though for the record I do not care about her." Min said annoyed at even the proposition of such a thing.

Rolling her eyes at Wen's response something did catch her attention through the idiotic babble. A new interest in Haruo huh? The gears in her mind were already turning with her own plots, but she kept them on the back burner for now. Watching her sit Min smiled, "you're not smart enough to tease me Wen." Min cooed at the girl as she finally sat her ass down. It was circular but the beast finally sat down like she wanted. Plus she found a new angle to stab her blade into Wen whenever she pleased. I'll let it rise and then, well, we'll see what comes. Raising a brow as she offered her lap on the floor Min's smile turned devilish.

"It's right of you to offer to please your betters, but I'd rather stay here. I have a nice view of a dumb bitch finally learning how to heel." Min said as she ran her fingers through her hair, "by the way, that's the word you were trying to say. It's not dog. How long have you spoken English for again? You should honestly have a better grasp at this point. Or did you eat your bookwork along with dirt, beast?"

Min turned her glance to Geo as he turned back and in too many words offered Wen the opportunity to leave. Min wasn't going to say anything she agreed with Geo. Haruo existed before Wen attacked him with a goat and he'll be fine without her. Laughing as Wen agreed. "And he said I had a 'holier-than-thou attitude', hilarious." Min mused, not arguing against this proposal, Min wanted her to leave. Besides, she was looking forwards to see how Wen ruined this for Haruo.

As Wen added the last part Min raised a brow, "You were literally unconscious, when you got here. It's a very accurate portrayal."

Listening to Geo's explanation Min was already excited to see Wen try and fail. This was going to be good entertainment for her, and if Geo was lying and was actually a villain...well Wen's death is no tragedy for her and she can still escape.

Raising her hand she coyly waved to Wen, "Good luck Wen."

Hero, Min was not.

Wen actually managed to shrug off Min's words, because now she knew they really didn't hold any bite. They were just the results of her jealousy. Wen was a hero, Min wasn't. Plain and simple. Heroes sometimes fail, but always get right back up, and it seems Min didn't have that type of thinking. No, it seemed to be if someone failed they were forever held to that failure. What a medieval girl. Then she was slightly racist about her bad English. They didn't exactly teach curse words in formal classes, prissy bitch.

Wen sent a harsh glare to Min. "The only one heeling is you. Now watch me do what I was born to."

With that she turned to Geo. "Alright, give me the key and the way out of this hell hole, I've got an idea. I'm not exactly a scholar but I'm pretty sure it'll work. Think the D.C members will be mad at me that a Freshmen took the glory?" She just smiled and joked. It seems she was actually pleased with doing another mission, similar to the excitement that went along to the Freshman's class first mission. Except she was now technically more solo.

This girl wasn't one to be cooped up, ever. She'd never sit and wait if there was another choice. It was her time to shine, again. She'd already shown her worth at the first mission, but she was excited to show off in front of D.C members who thought they were hot shit for making up stupid tests.
