Santa's First Visit


Hal couln't help it, he was just too curious! What was that black box mommy was holding before? Was it something good? Was it something fun? Was it something tasty? Hal needed to know!

So, of course, the little boy crawled towards the table, and reached out to grab the black box. Mommy was smart though, so he couldn't reach it at first. For a second, Hal felt like crying so mommy would get it for him, but instead, he felt a bigger urge to try again. He reached out with all his might, just barely able to start feeling the tip of the tiny box, but even if he was grabbing the table's legs to pull himself as far up as he could, it still wasn't enough to actually grab the mysterious black box. Unable to hold himself up anymore, he let go, yet as he did, his hand tipped over the black box which spun a little on top of the table before sliding out of it and falling at Hal's feet. It was a contest now between the fear of the scare of that object falling right in front of him, and the curiosity of finding what the black box was all about. Curiosity, it seemed, was on a winning streak today, so Hal reached out and grabbed the black object with both hands.

The black box was about as long as Hal's head. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to have several small bumps, some of them black with white drawings on them, but some others in different colors like red or green, but also with white drawing on them. Hal flipped it around with his hands for a few moments, utterly amazed by this exotic-looking box, until he felt like it was time for the big test, and opened his mouth, taking a bite into the black box. It was strange, because he felt a few of the strange bumps going into the black box as he bit them, and coming back out when he realized it tasted awful.

There was a sudden noise and a flash. Startled, Hal gazed to the side and noticed another, bigger box, which seemed to be attached to a table of the same color. There was some kind of worm coming out of the box and leading to the wall, yet that wasn't the strangest part about the box. The strangest part, was there were PEOPLE inside the box! And they were moving and saying things Hal didn't understand yet, but he couldn't help but keep looking. He crawled a bit closer and slammed his hand into the bigger box, but he didn't seem to be able to get in, and the people inside didn't notice him do that. One of the people inside the box raised a finger and smiled, a gesture which Hal mimicked, then a drawing appeared on the box instead of the person.

Following this and some things the person said despite not being there anymore, that person reappeared. They smiled once again, and this time lifted two fingers. Hal was already giggling his lungs out, and did the same thing as the person, which once again resulted in the appearance of a weird drawing, and more things spoken over it.

And then, his mother who had heard the TV turning on from downstairs, entered the room to check up on Hal followed by Hal's grandmother.

A Few Years Later

As the years had passed, Hal was half-taught by the TV. His mother wasn´t negligent or anything, but the little boy became quite attached to TV, and in particular educational shows. Learning from them was something Hal always loved, which grew into a love for learning in general. However, precisely because he became so attached to the TV, his time playing outside or with friends was considerably reduced, and in fact, he'd more often than not be found slacking in front of it. Even if she was concerned, though, Leonor couldn't bring herself from taking her son away from something that brought him such joy.

And so, as that son grew, he learned about Santa, which inspired him to want to learn how to write, despite not being in the first grade yet. Between certain educational shows and his parent's help, he was able to write a letter to Santa "all by himself" (or so he was told). The day had come at last, and Hal couldn't wait to ask for his present, yes, to him all he needed was that asking. That's what got him to excited, and that excitement was something that melted King's heart. The man took one more look at the letter they wrote for Hal, in which it was written Hal wanted to ask Santa for...

Hmm... I am Bear and Bear starts with B so I chose the sword! That's got to be useful later, I can just feel it XD

Nice to meet you beautiful people, I was simply dragged here and this quest seemed fun. I hope we can agree on the more life-changing decisions.
