Three years, so much has changed…

They’ve brought destruction, damage, hell…

Am I really going to restore balance?

Yes hi hello, welcome to an original universe roleplay!

Here is the premise:

The year is 2050. At this point in time, many different species of humanoid creatures have been found all over the world- including dryads, elves, and different forms of human/animal hybrids, mainly bipeds. With the evolution of science and medicine, cyborgs were not uncommon. Yet with this evolving world, there was still a common belief that there were gods of many elements- such elements that would protect the planet and save it when the time came.

Three years ago, an entire town was overtaken by an unknown deity, the Entity as they call it, one that soon took over the planet with iron force. All hell broke loose, and many were killed brutally by the Entity and its many gangs of grublins and golems and wyverns. Others were killed further when they tried to rebel the entity’s rule. The rest now fight to survive, no longer able to gather up any courage to fight. All hope has been lost.

At the same time, reports of people going missing ran high. They were all young teenagers, and most of them were never found. Since the arrival of the Entity, these numbers had hit their peaks. However, this surprise anomaly had stopped within three months of the Entity’s appearance.

Three years later, a glimmer of hope arose. It turned out that many of the missing teenagers were found in crystal coverings, surrounded within a magical fluid. These crystals were found underground in the midst of the chaos and confusion, and with exposure to air, the crystals shattered. It was discovered that these teens had special… Abilities. Depending on the color of the crystals they were found in, these humans had the ability to wield any of the eight forms of magic below:

  • Fire- One who wields this ability can control fire. This means that they are able to start small fires through the palms of their hands and can deflect fire attacks. Further, they can control a fire that has already been started and utilize it to attack their opponents. Can breathe fire, but range is limited.
  • Electricity- Similarly, those with electricity are able to send out currents of electricity towards their opponents and- if strong enough- can channel smaller bolts of lightning through themselves and towards their opponents. No, they cannot channel entire lightning storms or summon a giant bolt of lightning.
  • Ice- Those who wield ice can drop the temperature of the air around them and withstand temperatures up to -3 degrees Celsius (25 degrees Fahrenheit). They are able to freeze their opponents with contact, and if given enough liquid, are able to freeze up some projectiles. This works best with the wind element.
  • Earth- Those with the earth ability are able to solidify mud into rock and hurl projectiles of rock at opponents. They are also able to create a temporary armor of mud or sand, which makes a great defense.
  • Poison- Those who wield poison can create their own venom and are immune to venom attacks. Very useful for assassination, if they’re okay with spitting in drinks. No, they cannot turn anything into poison.
  • Fear- Those who wield fear can emit high-pitched sound waves that can strike fear in those who hear. The waves can also cause minor physical damage if direct contact is made. Please be cautious around these Beacons, because their waves do not discriminate. Always use earplugs.
  • Wind- Those with the wind element can create small tornadoes and moderate wind storms. They are also able to use bursts of air to throw projectiles or carry fire forward. No, they cannot create hurricanes.
  • Shadow- Those who wield shadow are able to hide themselves in even the smallest of shadows. They can strike whenever they get the opportunity, and often use a strike of shadows, which will surround the enemy and disorient them for five minutes. Oftentimes the opponent will attack their own allies within this time. Proceed out caution.
Here is a video that shows what these elements may look like in use:

All of these elements are unruly in their own rights, and they must be trained to be tamed. This is why, as soon as they were discovered, the Crystal Beacons were sent to a remote location, one of which seems uninhabitable due to the damage of scorched earth and thick ashy air. But this is only on the surface. In this location lie many caves that are connected by a network of tunnels. Beneath these caves lies a city much like the ones that prospered many millennia before the deity entered this world. It’s a wonderful city, with towers of stone and terracotta, temples everywhere, and the remnants of the gods who were once worshipped- and these are the gods whom blessed our heroes with their powers.

This is the secure base of the Beacons of Hope. Within the temples of the gods they train, within the security of the caves they thrive. The crystals lining the caves are a luxury and a great form of defense indeed- this is the material in which the Beacons keep hidden. Within this base as well are Guardians- humans with special psychic abilities who uphold the spiritual ideas of the elemental gods. They do their best to make sure that the Beacons are safe and training to the best of their abilities.

However, things are changing. As the world grows ever more bleak, the enemy draws nearer and nearer. This will cause some problems. After all, the initial aim was for the Beacons to be hidden until they were ready to fight back with full force. Alas, this cannot be the case. Thus, the beacons will fight back any of the Entity’s subordinates if they are near the base, though only for the sake of training.

Now the problem? None of the Beacons truly know what they are supposed to do- after all, these Beacons are all estimated to be between the ages of thirteen and nineteen, and it is difficult to fathom that one day they may have to kill any humans who surrendered to and became minions of the Entity. Animalistic and unnatural beings were easy to fight and defeat, but fellow humans would prove to be psychologically impossible to attack. After all, before they were found in crystals, they interacted with fellow humans. They had families, friends, memories, lives. So instead, they train on the daily, in constant search of their purpose. While they mingle, they know not of each other’s powers, for they train in seclusion. But with each day they grow stronger…

...Until one day the base is swarmed. The Guardians of the city were able to fend off the troops, but at a cost. Many of the Guardians were killed during the fight, whilst the rest passed on due to the injuries sustained…

With the exception of one. One of the younger Guardians at the age of thirty was able to escape the Beacons. They fled into another labyrinth of caverns from underneath the city to flee. But where did they go? Where else was there to go?

...Up. There was one final area that the Entity had not managed to touch. The oldest temple of the planet rested on a series of floating islands, and only reachable by those who possessed the power of Wind. With their help, the Beacons made it to safety… and to where they now stay. Without the multitude of Guardians watching their every move, the Beacons were finally free to train together, since they were not allowed to work together before. Here they are, under the direction of their head guardian Aurelius, waiting for the day they can finally come out of hiding…

So it begins.

Now for the rules of the RP.

~General Rules~
  1. The Discord server is the official OOC, the link will be provided at the end of the post.
  2. All Rp Nation rules apply.
  3. Don't powerplay or use your characters as if they're OP when they are not. Big battles are supposed to be a team effort.
  4. Make sure you double-check with someone before you battle/make romantic advances/etc.
  5. BE POLITE TO OTHER ROLEPLAYERS AT ALL TIMES!!!! I cannot stress this enough. People bashing each other will result in getting kicked from the RP.
  6. The rules are subject to change at my discretion. Be sure to check back often.
  7. Have fun~!

~On Characters~
  1. There is no cap on characters, feel free to play what you’re comfortable with!
  2. This is an original universe, therefore I would like the Beacons to be original characters! Canon characters will not be approved. If the original character is based off a canon character, that's fine, but I decide when it’s too similar to its inspiration.
  3. You must fill out a character sheet! The template is down below.
  4. Please make the elements of the characters diverse!
  5. On humanoid creatures- They can be anything I mentioned above- nymphs, dryads, fairies, elves, human/animal hybrids, and cyborgs. Check with me if there’s a humanoid creature you want to use but are unsure about!

~On ROMANCE~
  1. Keep in mind that any romance should be relatively subtle and not the focus of everything. This isn't a romance RP. That doesn't mean you can't have a romance plot somewhere, though...
  2. No incest, unless it's joking. Crack shipping moments are allowed, as long as they aren't too raunchy.
  3. Relationships may be based on the sexuality of the character.

Keep these notes in mind:
  • This world is modern like our own, or at least it was until almost everything was destroyed.
  • There are elements of an ancient world and an ancient religion that still exist to this day. The islands are floating above what would have been present-day Kazakhstan. The city from which the Beacons fled was in modern-day Turkey.
  • The year is around 2050.
  • The Beacons were crystallized at random, and should have had some sort of flash of what their element is.
  • Beacons were frozen for about 3 years, since they were frozen by the time the Entity appeared.
  • This RP is based on a couple of things- including the Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Feel free to do some research before or after signing up!

Bestiary:
  • Grublins are strange creatures who look like mutated, overgrown house flies- see this image for reference: Grublins typically carry some form of melee weapon and are weak by themselves. However, be careful when you have a swarm of them.
  • Golems are very rare, but they are huge. See this image: They are about the size of large buildings, and often live in the underground. Golems have long tails that can be used as weapons, but be mindful of their fists too!
  • Wyverns are a type of dragon-like Grublin, shown here: They are able to breathe waves of wind and shadow that can be very painful if they make contact with you.
  • We also have Orcs- These buggers have crossbows, and are a pain to fight from a distance.
  • And lastly, there are Trolls- large enemies who are able to either hit you hard or create shockwaves by jumping.

With that out of the way, welcome! You are now one of these Crystal Beacons, training to save the world! ...Or something like that. With this premise, we begin our little RP.

Aurelius- Preparing to call

He sighs in frustration as he looks the plans over again. Shit, he thinks to himself, how would I keep everyone safe in the event something goes wrong? He places his reading glasses on the folder and leans back in his chair. At least his office is nice and private- it had taken much work and many smaller trips when the Beacons were asleep, but he had found a way to make this tiny room in the temple feel like home. He'd managed to salvage a desk from an abandoned home, a rickety office chair (he has to figure out where he can find a better one), some bookshelves, and a few little shelves for the things he managed to salvage from his time in the caves.

Really, it could be much worse.

Aurelius closes his eyes and takes a second to think. This is an important mission, one that can go very well or very poorly. More importantly, it's the first time any of the Beacons will be off base since they got here months ago. His anxiety at the idea of anyone getting harmed had been, above all else, the main hindrance. But perhaps they're more capable of taking care of themselves.

And yet, being the only Guardian left doesn't ease things- he remembers Octavius' dying words before Aurelius hurried all of the Beacons out of the caves- "You'll know what to do. Please, make sure they're safe, my child." He shakes his head at the memory. He doesn't quite like any of this, but he knows it's now or he will never let this mission happen. So he looks into the files, writes a few things in his notebook, and straightens his posture. Well. Now or never.

Aurelius stands up from his chair- which almost caves in- and exits his office, making sure to lock it up before walking into the main temple. The crystal statues in the back of the temple shine as brightly as they ever had- Aurelius makes sure to give them a bow before walking to the front and looking outside. He sits down and closes his eyes, preparing himself to send the message.

Evonna- Training Area
Thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-THUMP!

Evonna scrunches her nose as she sends the dummy back a few feet. That was a weak hit- but perhaps she shouldn't gripe about the quality of the materials she's given. The dummy was probably in a closet for years. She walks to pick it back up and try again. This is the best thing for her to do while she's angry at the Entity messing up her entire life. She'd had a home, her family was whole, and god dammit everything was normal!

Of course, do her dismay, the dummy gets knocked over again when she punches it. So she rolls her eyes and leaves it, deciding it's time for a break. She grabs her water bottle and takes a long drink. Perhaps she's more tired than she thought she was. She swings her legs over the edge of the island and looks at the city down below. It's insane to her to think about how much damage the Entity did, not just to her home but to the world. Evonna shakes her head, knowing she needs to do whatever she can to punch the Entity in the goddamn face.

Maybe she'll start with a Troll first.

Jehan- Gardening!
Jehan grabs another flower, takes it out of the planter, and places it in the hole in the soil. He covers the roots and pats the dirt gently- he'd never realized why his mother loved gardening so much. Now, however, he knows damn well why. It's pretty cathartic. Aurelius was right to get him some flowers and a patch in the garden. Hell, he hadn't realized he'd be good at arranging flowers.

Who knows? Worst comes to worst, he could abandon med school and his music to become a florist. Maybe even a professional gardener.

...Hell no. But it is a fun hobby.

Jehan moves to his knees and uses his wrist to wipe the sweat off his face. He wonders if anyone is out today, if anyone wants to hang out. He's running out of flowers.

Ada yawned, eyelids growing heavier and heavier as she busied herself with her one hobby outside of her former job as an illegal underground fighter—cooking. She sprinkled salt into a pot of water before bringing it to a boil, tossing in the pasta soon after. It was during quiet moments like this that she could almost imagine it; the pitter-patter of tiny feet running down the stairs at the smell of food and the feeling of little hands grasping at the hem of her shirt. She knew better than anyone, however, that those days were long gone.

The chimera eventually finished up cooking and sat at the dining table, staring down at the plate laid out before her. Steam poured off of the dish in waves, bringing with it an enticing aroma. Absentmindedly, she grabbed herself a serving before twisting her fork into the noodles. She brought it up to her face and blew on it lightly, then proceeded to stuff it into her waiting mouth. She chewed.

It was... good.

Resting under a tree, hands behind them acting as a cushion. The smell of earth and flowers fills their nose, a slight breeze makes it all the more comfortable, with eyes closed, a shadowy mist circles around them. Memories of a past forgotten filled their mind, a figure staring at them, its cheeks moving as if to say something but to no avail, its voice inaudible to Dezi *Who are you?* reaching out their hand in a vain attempt to remember, a deep sadness envelops them, the memory beyond their reach. Walking forward hand still out stretched the image starts to move away *Wait!*. Now running an urge to reunite with the figure envelopes them, but before they could reach, to make sense, to understand...to remember, they woke up.

Eyes opening a tear runs down their cheek, Dezi gives out a sigh “Another dream” wiping the tear away then looking at the sky trying to remember but to no avail “what was it saying?” reaching out they stare at their padded hand “Why!?” closing their hand, anger fills their thoughts “Why can't I remember the faces of my parents, my friends, their names and their voices!?” Calming themselves down, they lower their hand to the side, staring at the sky a voice echoes in their mind, a smile forming on their lips “No there’s one thing i remember...”.

Leaning back on the tree, hands behind their head and as they close their eyes a sweet and caring voice echoes in the darkness *Remember Dezi! Kindness and positivity goes a long way!*

As quiet as the breeze, Nicolas glides above the expanse of the temple. It was nice out today and he really needed to stretch out his wings. The sun warms the young harpy's back while he finds freedom among the clouds and other avian creatures. It was times like these that he could let his mind wander; despite not being able to remember what his past was even like. Awakening from the crystals was all he knew, the temple and it's guardian were the only absolutes he had right now.

Shaking his head, Nicolas brings himself back to reality and notices a person resting against one of the trees on the temple grounds. Perhaps he should make some friends while he was here, it's only been a couple months yet he hadn't gotten to know any of the other awakened kids.

Taking a wide swoop downward, Nicolas glides to perch in the tree that from what he sees now is the kid named Dezi resting. Nicolas lands with a graceful, yet auditable rustle from the tree. The harpy boy tilts his head curiously to the side while looking down at the other awakened kid.

"Good day, having a nap?" Nicolas's thick Russian accent is hard to mask but it's not unpleasant as his voice is soft and almost feminine. A curl of ashy blonde hair tumbles down from the top of his head due to gravity and sticks out slightly out to the side and his round gold framed spectacles slide down his nose slightly. By appearance, Nicolas exudes a sort of soft and peaceful aura.

Remembering those words always made Dezi smile, it acted as an anchor to a past forgotten, even if the voice's owner was always unknown to them, it doesn't matter, for every piece of memory is something they would cherish, be it good or bad “Kindness and positivity huh..” they always believed them no matter how much it irked some people.

Slumping down the tree Dezi tries to get some more shut eye, however the sudden sound of wing beats interrupts them, someone or something was coming closer to their tree *Hmmm those are some big wings if I'm hearing this correctly* thinking back they know one stranger at the temple with such wings, thinking back they lamented on not getting to know people around the temple more *Better late then never i guess..*.

With the rustling of leaves, the creaking of wood indicated that whoever it was he or she is now on the tree, as they were contemplating on what to do a voice with an accent he can't place greeted them, smiling Dezi replies to the visitor with eyes still closed and a smile on their lips “Yep! With weather like this who wouldn't? ” opening an eye to meet the visitor's gaze “How about you? Whacha doin all the way here?”.

Nicolas smiles warmly at Dezi, "Just needed to stretch out my wings, it gets pretty cramped in the temple." He shifts his talons on the branch a bit to settle on his new found perch.

"I believe you are called Dezi, ya? I'm not great with names so you'll have to excuse me if I've forgotten." The bird boy chuckles lightly with a slight hint of embarrassment.

Pallakrates Apollyon
Strength and the Chariot

Pallakrates wasn't exactly someone who snored, but he did enjoy his naps. Of course, he didn't enjoy naps as much as food. So it shouldn't be much of a surprise to find himself waking so suddenly to the smell of food, a grin on his face. Still clad in his sleeping attire, simply some boxers and a tank top, Pallakrates simply followed his nose, as he did. He started to walk quicker, and quicker, until he developed into a run, just like the days of his youth. Pallakrates never knew what became of his father before everything faded into darkness. But they would meet again some day. He could feel it in his bones. But who could adventure without the blessing of the gods known as.....

"FOOD!!!"

Having thundered down the halls, Pallas skittered to a halt as he reached the dining area. And yet, as soon as he saw what he smelled, the excited look on his face was wiped by disappointment.

"Ych... noodles? Kinda bland, don't ye'd think?"

Pallas raised a brow at the blonde girl as he meandered towards the kitchen himself. Now that he was awake, he was hungry, as he often was. Might as well do something about it. Hopefully there was plenty meat around. Preferably seafood.

"Suit yourself." When Ada spoke, it was like a low roll of thunder. Her words were always soft but people always found it hard to ignore what she said. It just had that sort of presence.

The fighter forked up more of her pasta and took a huge bite. It was creamy, cheesy, and loaded with flavor. From the sauce, to the shrimp, and to the fettuccine itself. Having lived at a port town, she'd used this recipe dozens of times before for her younger siblings. She was a bit perplexed by Pallas' aversion to noodles—maybe no one's ever properly seasoned the water they cooked in—but simply kept it in mind for the next time she entered the kitchen.

Leaning a bit forward surprised that he knows their name, Dezi gives him a thumbs up “Yep thats me!” setting their hand down to the side all the while giving the winged individual a once over “Were surprised you know our name!” looking at the visitor and racking their brain trying to remember his name from all the list of people at the temple bot to no avail.

Leaning back to the tree ,trying to relax Dezi stares at him with rapt attention as they try to figure out his name “And your…. Nnnnicole right?” Sitting up and craning their neck look at the perched individual all the while scratching their cheek unsure on their guess “Uh sorry…. it is Nicole right?”

Leva adjusted her glasses for the twelfth time in those last ten minutes. She was finally getting restless, having been cooped up in the Temples since the wee hours of the morning. The young woman had taken to meditation and prayer in the last couple of weeks, as she felt that at least the gods would keep her good company, whereas the rest of the residents did not. Nevertheless, the lack of any response whatsoever from whichever deity she was communicating with had begun to greatly bore her, and she was becoming desperate for real human interaction. Giving the majestic crystal statues a bow, Leva dismissed herself from the Temple.
She took her time in reaching the Apartments, although they were not her final destination. Instead, she was headed in the direction of the garden, where she thought she had seen a boy working earlier. And indeed, her memory had not failed her: as she approached, a boy not much younger than her came into full view. He seemed to be planting some flowers, and that his supply was dwindling.
“Hello there!” Leva exclaimed as brightly as she could. “I would say your arrangement looks absolutely stunning.”
