Three years, so much has changed…

They’ve brought destruction, damage, hell…

Am I really going to restore balance?

Yes hi hello, welcome to an original universe roleplay!

Here is the premise:

The year is 2050. At this point in time, many different species of humanoid creatures have been found all over the world- including dryads, elves, and different forms of human/animal hybrids, mainly bipeds. With the evolution of science and medicine, cyborgs were not uncommon. Yet with this evolving world, there was still a common belief that there were gods of many elements- such elements that would protect the planet and save it when the time came.

Three years ago, an entire town was overtaken by an unknown deity, the Entity as they call it, one that soon took over the planet with iron force. All hell broke loose, and many were killed brutally by the Entity and its many gangs of grublins and golems and wyverns. Others were killed further when they tried to rebel the entity’s rule. The rest now fight to survive, no longer able to gather up any courage to fight. All hope has been lost.

At the same time, reports of people going missing ran high. They were all young teenagers, and most of them were never found. Since the arrival of the Entity, these numbers had hit their peaks. However, this surprise anomaly had stopped within three months of the Entity’s appearance.

Three years later, a glimmer of hope arose. It turned out that many of the missing teenagers were found in crystal coverings, surrounded within a magical fluid. These crystals were found underground in the midst of the chaos and confusion, and with exposure to air, the crystals shattered. It was discovered that these teens had special… Abilities. Depending on the color of the crystals they were found in, these humans had the ability to wield any of the eight forms of magic below:

  • Fire- One who wields this ability can control fire. This means that they are able to start small fires through the palms of their hands and can deflect fire attacks. Further, they can control a fire that has already been started and utilize it to attack their opponents. Can breathe fire, but range is limited.
  • Electricity- Similarly, those with electricity are able to send out currents of electricity towards their opponents and- if strong enough- can channel smaller bolts of lightning through themselves and towards their opponents. No, they cannot channel entire lightning storms or summon a giant bolt of lightning.
  • Ice- Those who wield ice can drop the temperature of the air around them and withstand temperatures up to -3 degrees Celsius (25 degrees Fahrenheit). They are able to freeze their opponents with contact, and if given enough liquid, are able to freeze up some projectiles. This works best with the wind element.
  • Earth- Those with the earth ability are able to solidify mud into rock and hurl projectiles of rock at opponents. They are also able to create a temporary armor of mud or sand, which makes a great defense.
  • Poison- Those who wield poison can create their own venom and are immune to venom attacks. Very useful for assassination, if they’re okay with spitting in drinks. No, they cannot turn anything into poison.
  • Fear- Those who wield fear can emit high-pitched sound waves that can strike fear in those who hear. The waves can also cause minor physical damage if direct contact is made. Please be cautious around these Beacons, because their waves do not discriminate. Always use earplugs.
  • Wind- Those with the wind element can create small tornadoes and moderate wind storms. They are also able to use bursts of air to throw projectiles or carry fire forward. No, they cannot create hurricanes.
  • Shadow- Those who wield shadow are able to hide themselves in even the smallest of shadows. They can strike whenever they get the opportunity, and often use a strike of shadows, which will surround the enemy and disorient them for five minutes. Oftentimes the opponent will attack their own allies within this time. Proceed out caution.
Here is a video that shows what these elements may look like in use:

All of these elements are unruly in their own rights, and they must be trained to be tamed. This is why, as soon as they were discovered, the Crystal Beacons were sent to a remote location, one of which seems uninhabitable due to the damage of scorched earth and thick ashy air. But this is only on the surface. In this location lie many caves that are connected by a network of tunnels. Beneath these caves lies a city much like the ones that prospered many millennia before the deity entered this world. It’s a wonderful city, with towers of stone and terracotta, temples everywhere, and the remnants of the gods who were once worshipped- and these are the gods whom blessed our heroes with their powers.

This is the secure base of the Beacons of Hope. Within the temples of the gods they train, within the security of the caves they thrive. The crystals lining the caves are a luxury and a great form of defense indeed- this is the material in which the Beacons keep hidden. Within this base as well are Guardians- humans with special psychic abilities who uphold the spiritual ideas of the elemental gods. They do their best to make sure that the Beacons are safe and training to the best of their abilities.

However, things are changing. As the world grows ever more bleak, the enemy draws nearer and nearer. This will cause some problems. After all, the initial aim was for the Beacons to be hidden until they were ready to fight back with full force. Alas, this cannot be the case. Thus, the beacons will fight back any of the Entity’s subordinates if they are near the base, though only for the sake of training.

Now the problem? None of the Beacons truly know what they are supposed to do- after all, these Beacons are all estimated to be between the ages of thirteen and nineteen, and it is difficult to fathom that one day they may have to kill any humans who surrendered to and became minions of the Entity. Animalistic and unnatural beings were easy to fight and defeat, but fellow humans would prove to be psychologically impossible to attack. After all, before they were found in crystals, they interacted with fellow humans. They had families, friends, memories, lives. So instead, they train on the daily, in constant search of their purpose. While they mingle, they know not of each other’s powers, for they train in seclusion. But with each day they grow stronger…

...Until one day the base is swarmed. The Guardians of the city were able to fend off the troops, but at a cost. Many of the Guardians were killed during the fight, whilst the rest passed on due to the injuries sustained…

With the exception of one. One of the younger Guardians at the age of thirty was able to escape the Beacons. They fled into another labyrinth of caverns from underneath the city to flee. But where did they go? Where else was there to go?

...Up. There was one final area that the Entity had not managed to touch. The oldest temple of the planet rested on a series of floating islands, and only reachable by those who possessed the power of Wind. With their help, the Beacons made it to safety… and to where they now stay. Without the multitude of Guardians watching their every move, the Beacons were finally free to train together, since they were not allowed to work together before. Here they are, under the direction of their head guardian Aurelius, waiting for the day they can finally come out of hiding…

So it begins.

Now for the rules of the RP.

~General Rules~

  1. The Discord server is the official OOC, the link will be provided at the end of the post.
  2. All Rp Nation rules apply.
  3. Don't powerplay or use your characters as if they're OP when they are not. Big battles are supposed to be a team effort.
  4. Make sure you double-check with someone before you battle/make romantic advances/etc.
  5. BE POLITE TO OTHER ROLEPLAYERS AT ALL TIMES!!!! I cannot stress this enough. People bashing each other will result in getting kicked from the RP.
  6. The rules are subject to change at my discretion. Be sure to check back often.
  7. Have fun~!

~On Characters~
  1. There is no cap on characters, feel free to play what you’re comfortable with!
  2. This is an original universe, therefore I would like the Beacons to be original characters! Canon characters will not be approved. If the original character is based off a canon character, that's fine, but I decide when it’s too similar to its inspiration.
  3. You must fill out a character sheet! The template is down below.
  4. Please make the elements of the characters diverse!
  5. On humanoid creatures- They can be anything I mentioned above- nymphs, dryads, fairies, elves, human/animal hybrids, and cyborgs. Check with me if there’s a humanoid creature you want to use but are unsure about!

~On ROMANCE~
  1. Keep in mind that any romance should be relatively subtle and not the focus of everything. This isn't a romance RP. That doesn't mean you can't have a romance plot somewhere, though...
  2. No incest, unless it's joking. Crack shipping moments are allowed, as long as they aren't too raunchy.
  3. Relationships may be based on the sexuality of the character.

History before the crystal:

Keep these notes in mind:
  • This world is modern like our own, or at least it was until almost everything was destroyed.
  • There are elements of an ancient world and an ancient religion that still exist to this day. The islands are floating above what would have been present-day Kazakhstan. The city from which the Beacons fled was in modern-day Turkey.
  • The year is around 2050.
  • The Beacons were crystallized at random, and should have had some sort of flash of what their element is.
  • Beacons were frozen for about 3 years, since they were frozen by the time the Entity appeared.
  • This RP is based on a couple of things- including the Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Feel free to do some research before or after signing up!

Bestiary:
  • Grublins are strange creatures who look like mutated, overgrown house flies- see this image for reference: Grublins typically carry some form of melee weapon and are weak by themselves. However, be careful when you have a swarm of them.
  • Golems are very rare, but they are huge. See this image: They are about the size of large buildings, and often live in the underground. Golems have long tails that can be used as weapons, but be mindful of their fists too!
  • Wyverns are a type of dragon-like Grublin, shown here: They are able to breathe waves of wind and shadow that can be very painful if they make contact with you.
  • We also have Orcs- These buggers have crossbows, and are a pain to fight from a distance.
  • And lastly, there are Trolls- large enemies who are able to either hit you hard or create shockwaves by jumping.

With that out of the way, welcome! You are now one of these Crystal Beacons, training to save the world! ...Or something like that. With this premise, we begin our little RP. OOC link can be found here: Link

Jaysha Wangchuck

Fire Elemental

Jaysha Khaesar Namgyel Wangchuck IV
Species: Drow / Humanoid
Ethnicity ; Bhutanese
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Gender: Male
Element: Fire
Appearance: Rough complexion, White Haired
Personality: Crude, Transparent, Cocky

History before the crystal:
Before the Crystal, Jaysha Khaesar Namgyel Wangchuck was the crown prince to the Kingdom of Bhutan, a character favored by his family and country. Before the reigning of his monarch as the Dragon King of Bhutan, the Entity stuck hard, and struck fast.

His world fell into ruin, his home collapsing around him as he watched in horror as the people he knew and loved around him died slowly before his very eyes. He never got to see the perpetrators of this attacked before blacking out, remaining in a coma for 3 years

After awakening from his slumber, he was abrasive and apprehensive at first to the people of the Beacon. After time, he warmed up, before seeing the same fate of his first home come upon his second. After taking to the skies above Kazakhstan, he hasn't had a greater conviction to stand for justice than at this moment.

It can only go up from here.

Ada Navarro
The Stormbringer

BIOGRAPHICAL INFO
Full Name:
Ada Candela Navarro
Age: 22
Species: Chimera (Elf?Deer?Wolf?)
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Sexuality: Asexual Aromantic
Gender: Female
Element: Electricity

char_306_leizi_1.png

PERSONAL INFO
Personality: For the most part, Ada's normally very slow, lazy and gloomy. Her usual demeanor lacks any sort of interest in what's going on around her, but pays a special sort of attention to the people who matter to her the most. She's not afraid to speak her mind, regardless of whether or not her words are positive, but generally will only talk when necessary.

However, Ada has a much more passionate side to her that only ever emerges when her blood gets pumping. This new behavior is much bolder, wilder, and untamed, akin to a wild beast—a state which is fittingly called her "Berserk Mode". Her expressions become much more savage and can instantly intimidate most with a single glance. Her speech is also much more aggressive as she has no qualms as to whom she talks to, and is prone to having violent outbursts in an instant.

History: Ada grew up in a port town in Spain where she lived in the slums alongside her five siblings. It was a rough environment that would have easily gotten rid of her if she ever showed the slightest bit of weakness. To survive, she had to rely solely on her skills, developing a tenacious fighting spirit to endure her hardships on the streets. Soon enough, word of her spread quickly throughout the region, and she was eventually recruited by an underground fighting ring.

It had been harsh at first, getting pummeled over and over again without mercy, but Ada had never been one to back down—not when the money that came from the fights helped her siblings live even a day longer. Eventually, it was that tenacity of hers managed to endear her to her fellow fighters. They trained her, built her from the ground up. Years passed, and Ada quickly became their top fighter, commanding complete respect from the entire ring. It wasn't a situation where you'd expect to be happy, but in some strange way... she was.

Then the lightning struck, and the world went black.

IMPORTANT. RESOURCES AHEAD.
Hello again! I have a few lovely little things for you.

So as I've said, the main base where the Beacons are is in a series (series?) of floating islands above Astana, Kazakhstan. I have included a map of those islands. ones that aren't labelled are just gardens!

Map of islands.png

I'll include an imgur album of screencaps as a reference for what the architecture of the buildings looks like!

RP has started, but if anyone comes across this, I'm still taking submissions! People can join at any time!

Name: Pallakrates Apollyon

Age: 21

Species: Human, or at least, mostly human

Ethnicity: Welsh

Sexuality: Bisexual

Gender: Male

Element: Fire

Appearance:
18865d2f00b6c797065120dd719a424c.jpg

Height:198 cm

Weight: 136 kg

Voice: "Behold my strength!"

Theme Song!!!: "My fire burns the fiercest!"

Personality:
There are few who embody the spirit of a warrior quite like Pallakrates, a stubborn, relentless, unyielding, and proud man, whose strength of will is only matched by his strength of body. Jovial and jolly, Pallas cherishes excitement, often through both battle and celebration, two circumstances he enjoys most. With great ambitions and a sturdy heart, Pallas never allows a situation to stifle the flame of his spirit, and seeks only to stoke it further. He is always among the first into the fray, preferring to lead through example and action. Plus, he doesn't like missing out on any action. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that he is impulsive and lacks intelligence. Pallas is first and foremost a warrior, and as such, he knows how to properly fight battles and wars. Strategies and tactics, while not his strongest aspect, still hold with importance. He always means to win. What comes after victory, however, is still met with joy. Celebration of even the smallest of victories is paramount, and food and drink oughtn't go to waste! Just as morale is important in war, so it is important in life.

History before the crystal:
Long ago, within the annals of ancient history, lies a legend of a roman slave who became a king. Vortigern, born among the lowliest class, proved a warrior too fierce to be chained. Breaking his collar, he ventured forth to take power, and is said to have sailed the seas to Britain, and crossed paths with the mightiest of all dragons who lived there, one the size of a mountain and with fire to melt even the sturdiest of metals. Yet Vortigern, with naught but a spear and sword, conquered the might beast by taking its eye, and vanquishing it through the gaping hole left behind. And here, he drank the blood of this mightiest of serpents, and soon claimed all of Britain. Though he did eventually fall, his legacy and bloodline, through the child his martyred son, were secured. As the ages passed, this bloodline remained among the ranks of militaries and their elites, children, all, of an ancient war god, as tradition holds. In more recent years, this bloodline has produced a new offspring: Pallakrates Apollyon. Named in honor of the bloodline's supposed roots to the previously mentioned war god, Pallakrates was born to his father at the cost of his mother's life. The winter of his birth had been harsh, and isolated them in a distant cabin in the country. Pallakrates had to be cut out, for he was simply too sizable to come out naturally. Blood-loss and sickness took Pallakrates' mother, Elaine, but his father, Cadagan, no less cherished Elaine's legacy, a child with hair like fire, and skin like the sun. Pallakrates continued the legacy of warriors, training as a competent leader and capable soldier, all the while a sense of freedom and glory. But one day, he vanished into thin air. His father, distraught beyond his will, cried in anguish at the heavens before taking his own life, for now there was nothing tethering him to this plane of suffering. Cadagan's headstone stands out of respect and mourning from those who fought alongside him, and tears were shed, not only for him, but his son and wife. Within the deep red confines of the crystal, something stirred, and the long rested blood of the dragon finally awoke.

Name: Leva Pyrelit
Age: 21
Species: Human
Ethnicity [if human]: American
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Gender: Female
Element: Fear
History and Personality:
Leva was a very successful descendant of the elite Pyrelit family, attending a cutting-edge high school and graduating with great honors. She was a confident and sharp student. Top of the class and wealthy, her popularity among her peers had soared... until the very unfortunate arrival of the Entity, that was.

Having awoken inside a crystal and held in isolation, Leva was not only situated in an entirely foreign situation, but living the life of another. Nobody liked her. In fact, it seemed that everyone... kept their distance. What had happened? What had she done wrong? The lack of constant adoration she had received her entire life, and become so dependent upon, crushed Leva’s fragile worldview.

The problem, of course, was her power of fear, which she was unconsciously emitting in an aura-like fashion, driving people away. She still has little control over it.

As a result, whenever Leva meets someone, a great obsessive anxiety of losing them develops inside of her, prompting her to do anything she can to keep the relationship alive. She comes off as very clingy and annoying, although she tries hard not to be.

However, in cases of debate and argument, something inside of her reverts back to her past self, and Leva becomes hardened and ready to defend her beliefs.

Name: Thomas Gallows, aka Creep.

Age: 22

Species: Human. Sort of. Not much left, though.

Ethnicity: American

Sexuality: Doesn't think about that kinda stuff, so unknown

Gender: Male

Height:193 cm

Weight: 75 kg

Voice: "Can you hear them?"

Theme Song!!!: "Someone's gotta love the unloved."

You'd prefer the mask on, too.

Personality:
Creep is far from the social type. Reclusive and shy, he avoids others by sticking to the safety and solitude of the darkness. When he does find himself interacting with others, he doesn't do a lot of talking, but is quite polite and kind. He has a particular fondness for nature, especially insects as well as other less appreciated forms of life. He very much enjoys rain, and likes to take walks out in the rain. He gets his best relaxation during nightly thunderstorms with heavy rain. Creep also enjoys finding new forms of life he hasn't seen before. He is particularly intelligent, and enjoys studying various sciences, and also enjoys reading classical literature.

History before the crystal:
It wasn't the softest of pasts, but it was something he remembered with fondness. 22 years ago, a child was born in the countryside beside the sea. A humble birth in a metal tub out near where the cows slept, and lukewarm water stained with the blood of birth. The child born Thomas Gallows never knew his father, but a quiet life in the country with his kind mother, was suitable enough. The wilderness could be challenging, admittedly. Thomas was a thin child always, lean and limber, flexible to a point where he was often compared to a willow tree. But he was quick. Even the dogs could lose him when he ran. He grew, but only taller, never wider. He always enjoyed his time outside, especially when it rained or snowed. He could never explain his love for harsh wind and rumbling thunder. But he did no less. The nearby coastal town, quiet and sleepy, calmed by the sound of ocean waves, was a playground to him. He never particularly socialized with anyone, though. He was always shy and anxious. But he found comfort with the presence of smaller creatures, wild, free, and so different from most. He did seem to have some unexplainable talent for making friends with animals, especially insects and the like. Perhaps it was because, unlike most, he never saw a reason to be disgusted or fearful. They never bit or stung, anyways. He could understand them, scared of the giants of the land, monsters that indiscriminately killed them because they were seen as ugly.

He never figured out what happened the day when everything burned down. Barely alive himself, it was all he could do to pull his mother's dying body from out of the burning rubble of the small log house. Even the rain couldn't quell the flames, just as his tears, streaming down his disfigured faces, scarred and burned beyond human likeness, couldn't bring the smoke out from his mother's lungs. Collapsed, just a stone's throw away from his own death, crying on his mother's lifeless body, darkness overtook him. It was the bugs that saved him. He wasn't sure what it was that brought them to him. Perhaps a magic in the dirt and soil. Perhaps some sacredness of his soul. Perhaps fate itself. But still, he was unsightly to others, proof enough that those who didn't lock their doors when he cried for help, his mother's half charred corpse in his lean arms, had instead decided to take arms against this seeming monster. It was surreal, really. Was he just some monster from a story? It was practically cliche, honestly. But to actually occur? There was a part of his soul that burned away along with his flesh that day. He kept to the shadows, since, face obscured by a makeshift mask, surviving in the wild, but eventually, he was lost to those same shadows. Darkness took his sight. His mind. When light came again, it was blinding. But the ones that saved his life those years ago... his friends... they remained at his side no less, keeping the pain away, and keeping him alive.
