beyond the walls.
a fantasy adventure.
introduction.
The army attacked at dusk, setting fire to the powder kegs outside the wall just as the sun began to set beyond the Vanara mountains. The explosion was grand, vicious enough to shatter glass window panes and strong enough to crumble the walls that once kept the capitol city of Vallonde safe from the wilds.
Life hadn't been the same in Camsir since the execution of long-reigning king, King Moreau, by the noble House Seadane. When King Alexander Seadane took over the throne, the once jovial life of Camsir fell dark and cruel. Now, as King Seadane's troops marched on the city, life as the people of Camsir knew it was over. Anyone that remained loyal to the wrongfully executed King Moreau were targeted: homes raided, businesses burned, citizens arrested, resistors executed in the streets. King Seadane wanted to cleanse the city, and eventually the entire country, of King Moreau's peaceful influence.
Among the citizens that fled from the city were eleven individuals that will soon find themselves in a strange situation. Forced to flee from the violence, the eleven find themselves at the refugee camp outside of Camsir. Displaced, afraid, and with no lives to return to, the eleven find unlikely allies amongst each other. With the law cracking down on the freedoms and luxuries of life as they knew it, the brave new guild made a decision: they would not lay down and accept their fate to be shackled by the King.
An adventurer's guild was created in hopes to be free from the war, to create new lives for themselves in a world that they barely had seen. Through quests, jobs, and, most importantly, each other, our allies must learn how to thrive beyond the walls.

Thank you for taking the time to read and welcome to Beyond the Walls, a high fantasy group roleplay inspired heavily by other fantasy works such as D&D, Skyrim, and the Dragon Age series! This roleplay will be GMed by myself and PenguinFox
The roleplay will follow our eleven individuals of the guild, displaced by the attack on Camsir, as they explore the vast and wondrous world of Vallonde. Between the adventures they find themselves on, the challenges of adapting to a new life, a raging war, and each other, our adventurers will have their work cut out for them.
Beyond The Walls is heavily character focused. Our story will follow the characters and their new found family through their journey across Vallonde. The roleplay will marry concepts like adventuring, slice of life, and found family dynamics within the fantasy world of Vallonde. The events they live through and the direction of the tale itself will be fully determined by the writers of the roleplay.
If you're interested in being a part of a writer motivated group with focuses on character dynamics, character arcs, and larger story arcs, you've come to the right place!
Thank you again and if you're interested, please let us know down below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
the leader. (open)
Charismatic, diplomatic, personable. Not the team's strongest fighter but they are the glue that holds everyone together. The Leader is responsible for keeping everyone together and making the plans.
the medic. (closed)
The team's caregiver and well trained in healing and protective magic. The medic keeps everyone alive and safe. She also assists in maintaining the camp and doing miscellaneous tasks wherever needed.
the fighter. (open)
Having trained for some time, the fighter is the team's most talented fighter. With excellent technique and control, the fighter is the group's main combat artist and trainer, keeping their fellow guildmates up to speed.
the barbarian. (open)
Perhaps not as smart as the fighter, what they lack in brains they make up for in brute strength. They act as the scary face and half of a deadly duo when paired with the fighter.
the thief. (closed)
Thriving in the underbelly of a fallen Camsir, the thief has gotten through life by stealing, exploitation, and criminal activity. Their sticky fingers have made them sneaky and agile, skilled with being careful and flying under the radar.
the hunter. (closed)
Raised to learn the land and how to use it to their advantage, the hunter is skilled with a bow and the wind. A talented navigator, skilled archer, and knower of the various peoples and creatures of Vallonde, their mind and talents are endlessly valuable.
the ex-royal. (closed)
After the fall of Camsir, the royal family collapsed, most were killed or driven from Vallonde. The next in line for the throne, trained to be balanced between art and war and academics and politics, survived. They managed to escape the rubble of the city under the protection of the group.
the ex-guard. (open)
Though many of the royal guards were thrown in prison or executed when Camsir fell, this guard escaped the conflict, having been tasked with protecting the ex-royal with their life.
the escaped convict. (open)
Being held temporarily in the castle prison, the convict was caught, or perhaps wrongfully accused, and had been left to rot when the fighting broke out. The prison was eventually crumbling with the fighting, the convict fled from the town.
the bard. (open)
A known comedian, musician, and professional lifter of spirits. They fled Camsir alongside the other escapees in the midst of the war. They know their cultures, are experts at the political game, and can latch onto secrets and accidental slips of tongue with true ease. They keep the group's morale up as a profession.
the companion. (closed)
Odd, not particularly specialized in anything at all, but a true friend to the group. Some might even call him a pet, though Beezil is an equal to the group.

01.
Please be aware that due to the nature of this rp, I am asking for all writers to be 18+. Please also be aware that this roleplay will include themes such as: violence, war, fighting, romance, character death, and mild gore. If any of these themes are something you are not interested in, or comfortable with, please do not apply. That being said, triggering content can be limited and will be discussed so that everyone is safe
02.
Activity will be critical for this rp. I will be expecting posts at least once a week, though more is always welcome! I will also request that you do not apply if you do not expect to be active in the OORP Discord for plotting, IC, and planning purposes. This rp will be built around a community of dedicated writers so participation is key.
As for the length of posts, I am asking for semi-lit writers. The aim is to have shorter, more frequent posts of 2-3 paragraphs rather than novella style posts. You are totally more than welcome to write longer posts, but shorter posts are also accepted. We just ask that you put in enough to reply to, that your reply advances the story, and that you attempt to use proper grammar and descriptive language. If anyone has difficulty with grammar, spelling, etc. please let me know and we can totally accommodate that.
03.
I feel like this shouldn't have to be stated but my roleplay will NOT be a place that tolerates any sort of bigotry or hatred. Diversity is beautiful and there will be a zero tolerance policy for things like racism, hatred to the LGBTQ+ community, hatred to different religions/cultures, etc.. If you want to be discriminatory and mean, please go elsewhere.
04.
As I said before, Discord is mandatory and non-negotiable for this roleplay. The RP will feature story arcs that contain a combination of group quests, individual character development, free time for characters, and larger character arcs. In order for this to happen, we do need people who are interested in bringing forward ideas and participating in the overall plotting. I want everyone to feel heard and like they've had a true impact on the story.
05.
This roleplay is realistic and thus, we ask that the characters be realistic as well. Realistic faceclaims are mandatory unless otherwise discussed. Vallonde, the country that this roleplay takes place in, is made up of predominantly humans, elves, and half-elves. If you have an alternate idea, please let me know and we can discuss.
Everyone is allowed to apply for one role and it is not first come first served. That being said, if there is a character application that I enjoy, I will be accepting the character as it is posted and completed. Additionally, once the roles are finished being filled, side characters can be created for plotting purposes and will have no limit.
