Realistic or Modern The Pharaoh's Soliloquy | OOC

Yes.

State Army.

Finished boot camp and basic training..... I guess. I'm not familiar with military protocol.

He's a new private.
Interesting. So i assume he's pretty new to the job but even then he's got to have seen things/know things that can't make him perfectly innocent/naive? I'm thinking about the way they portrayed the main character of hacksaw ridge. Didn't see the film myself so this may not be a valid judgement to make but he seemed innocent yet aware of the cruelties of the world and so staunchly devoted himself to his mission. Perhaps he wasn't so naive as he was just inherently good, which is what I'm imagining from Fred.

Hmm, I haven't watched Hacksaw Ridge either, just heard of it. Well, Fred is naive but I don't think he will be inherently good... or maybe he will be? I don't know, let me think more about it.

Let's just say Fred starts out as innocent. His entire world will be built on his faith on the Collective and his belief that it will be good for humanity. Slowly, as his faith breaks down so does his innocence. As he sees the atrocities committed with his own eyes he will slowly come to his senses. He will at first think that this is some sort of mistake but then he will ultimately realize that the system is evil; his faith will be broken. Then he will be forced to commit these atrocities himself, which he'll be extremely reluctant to do, but then he will have to do it anyway. Soon, it becomes easier and easier to commit these atrocities and he will experience a loss of innocence.

It's more of a slide into villainy if you ask me. Fred is not inherently good or evil, he's just a character that's affected by his environment.

Now since he's done some dirty work for the Collective he now knows what the Collective stands for. He'll have the choice to join Odysseus' band of terrorists/freedom fighters or he could continue working for evil or he could pick a third option (whatever that third option is) or he could just... do nothing. He could quit his job, leave the city, and give up. And that's when he just "dies" inside.

This is what I see when I think of Fred's character.

Historical Storyteller Historical Storyteller I like it! I was hoping we might find a sweetie of a character, but maybe someone will submit something lol..

I'm interested in seeing all our characters interact and how the relationships develop lol. It feels like right now Xing is the only high class one, so I imagine she'll feel a little bit out of place following Clay around, though that certainly won't be the only reason she feels strange.

A sweetie character? Mmm, I'm bad at that. I don't think I can get the hang of acting so... sweet and all.

There's a guy who was making this Elite character the other day. I haven't heard from him since! I really had high hopes for that guy to represent the Elite but nooo he just had to up and disappear like that.

Oh, and prepare for Guy to not have a lot of patience for you.... oh who am I kidding? Xing can use her good looks to get the better of him anyway.

Nope. Looking forward to writing with you!

Me too!

How the hell do you conclude a Mexican shootout without dying?

It's called being Han Solo. : D

Or shooting first. : P

And getting shot first too.

Summing up the Mexican standoff

Lemme see here, we've got three people strongly affiliated with the Collective (Guy, Clay and Remy) who will probably try to restore law and order, these are the guys you can depend on to act with composure. But Remy is kind of delirious and desperate, so he's likely to cause trouble unless someone calms him down.

The bearded madman runs on orange and blue morality, which means that his morals are absolute ALIEN to ordinary human beings. He does not care about money or morals, all he cares about is tea. Give him some tea and you can calm him down.

The angry mob probably has no guns and no more BLISS users. Their leader, the flame user, got trounced by Remy. They're normal people that have unleashed the savage beasts in themselves and... well... they're gonna act like animals. You're gonna have to either shame the mob into going home, threaten them with violence (only works if you have something with real firepower), or they're going to use their superior numbers to tear you apart.

There's the Chinese girl, Xing, who can probably try to... sing? Or use her beauty to calm the mob down or something... ? I don't know.

Then fuck, to make things worse a FUCKING BIOLOGICAL WEAPON walks into the western side riots to add to the mayhem? I just don't know what's going on anymore people.

Now, if Odysseus of all people decides to walk into the riots, this will become one of the most fucked up Mexican standoffs in the history of mankind. The city's most wanted terrorist can gain control of the angry mob and stir up some trouble for our characters. If the mob attacks, Guy will be forced to run away all the way to Doolittle Army Base, telling everyone that the western side riots have gone out of control.

The State Army in riots

The State Army will arrive shortly with a hundred men all armed with rifles and fixed with bayonets and its game over for the angry mob. (You do not want to see a hundred men charging at you with bayonets.) They are all heavily armed since they all heard Odysseus' broadcast. (Seriously, Oddy makes the Army super paranoid.) Some of them have grenades, satchel charges, and by god, they could bring even more weapons and people if Atlanta is in a state of anarchy and declare Martial Law.

Be careful when it comes to dealing with the Army, they are state-funded and they have great support among the Elites of Atlanta. I mean, not only are they a professional military force but they have a lot of powerful friends and resources.

Of course, even if they are dangerous they still have constraints. Their soldiers and commanders can be trigger happy at times but that results in public relations disasters. Once, a regulator shot a soldier during an argument, the State Army rallied its troops and burned down several regulator stations in retaliation. This has put strained relations between the regulators and the State Army.

Also, the State Army has a reputation for being brutal, paranoid, and having a tendency to bring in so much equipment to quell a simple riot. Because of this, the soldiers are called "Overkillers". Great War veterans continually mock them for being overpaid, oversexed, and trigger happy. The Pinks and Regulators view them as the city's iron fist, who could easily smash any pocket of resistance but could cause significant collateral damage and public relations disasters to the city. They are sort of like the wildcards of the Law and Order faction.

The revolutionaries hate the State Army with a passion, because they keep destroying things and bayoneting protestors. So sometimes, when a soldier is all alone, revolutionaries would gang up on that soldier and stab him to death. In turn, soldiers tend to shoot revolutionaries on sight if they recognize one.

The State Army is not concerned about world affairs, it is only concerned about the state of Georgia's affairs, the state where Atlanta city is in. This is why the Army's commanding officers normally do not listen to the plights of foreigners such as Xing and they don't really care.

Other information about the State Army

The State Army is heavily infiltrated by spies of all factions since the Army has so much power that can be exploited. The Pinks have sent some of their agents to prevent this from happening, but you can't watch everything at once. Some of the revolutionaries now have access to explosives and other military grade weapons thanks to their spies. And boy, some of the Army boys sell their own weapons to the black market for a price. So Army weapons are available to the public in limited quantities.

The State Army kind of hates the Regular Army, the Marines, the Navy, the Army Air Corps.... typical inter-service rivalry. Though the State Army gets along with the National Guard and other militias and the Coast Guard since many of the State Army's members served there.

Some Great War veterans serve in the State Army, and those veterans are typically the voice of reason in there. They have seen actual war and they know its consequences, so they try to keep the peace.

There's the Chinese girl, Xing, who can probably try to... sing? Or use her beauty to calm the mob down or something... ? I don't know.

She can't do anything. I mean, she'll probably do whatever task is asked of her to try and help out, but she's pretty much a non-actor in this setting in that just about anything she does will have little to no effect. She doesn't have the resources, manpower, or expertise to take anyone down, and she's not familiar with the situation nor knowledgeable enough of how to handle it to do anything in that regard either. She has a pretty heavy hand behind the scenes and a particularly impressive influence, especially for a woman, though people may not realize that the shifts in policy that are happening are doing so because of her. So Xing is a politician, a lobbyist, and an advocate, but she is nothing on the field.

(Kind of sucks to be playing a character that doesn't really fight like I'm used to : / but that's who she is! And she's not going to suddenly kung-fu people or have a singing superpower that puts a mob to sleep. Lol.)

This is somewhat unrelated, but I do foresee her making use of BLISS, FERVOR/ZEAL somewhat soon, especially if that will protect her from some crazy body-hopping robot. That might also make her a more significant fighter if it comes to it. But it's certainly not happening yet here...

She can always ask someone to teach her to shoot or to give her a combat umbrella (a lady in the Circus of Madness sells that). Or... you know what? It's just better to run if she can't fight well. It's not worth the trouble if you're gonna get your ass handed back to you.

I personally think it's much better if she limits her drug use by learning how to shoot guns. It is better to have many skills in different areas than to rely on just one skillset. If you depend on guns too much, you're not getting any superhuman abilities. If you depend on drugs too much, you'll just die. Try to balance it out.

Or if she really is powerful she could always hire a bodyguard.

Yes. Well, she could learn or to get the combat umbrella. She'll probably have to at a certain point.

But not yet. I already have an attractive character who's famous and rich. I don't want her to be a magical sharp-shooting kungfu master too. The sacrifice I am making by playing a high profile, high class female character in this era is that her physical capabilities will be more limited than some other characters, but I am willing to play that part.

And the use of weapons or learning of self-defense is not something I want her to already be equipped with, because that should come in as her character development. There will be times that she needs to just drop it and run. There will be times where her bodyguard can take care of things for her. There will be times when she can deescalate a situation or work something out. And eventually, there will be times when she can and will fight back.

Anyway, in terms of the drug use vs. gun use, I didn't consider them to be mutually exclusive. Especially if Kronos is on her ass, she's definitely going to have some involvement with guns. The drug usage is primarily so that she becomes immune to the body-hopping sitch. It'll be interesting to explore, too, when she has to dance with the thing that killed her mother because it's one of the things that will keep her from getting killed.

Back to the topic at hand; so then she'll probably run and hide while this is happening. Not too sure where. I expect a nearby building and in the back. Maybe she'll get discovered by Odysseus/George if he's coming like you mentioned. Maybe she'll get seen by someone else. Maybe she'll get hurt in a riot or cut herself on broken glass from a looting. Whatever it is, she'll probably make it out alive, though the amount of scrapes and bruises and psychological trauma is variable.

Aye, let the men do the work, lady.

... At least we some awesome moments to roll in before you become a certified badass.

In any case, the possibility of Guy dying is high if he gets caught in the angry mob. I'll send in the State Army here if he gets caught in a pinch, I want to protect my characters and I don't want them dying anytime soon in the introduction.

If the State Army sees their own troops getting assaulted, they WILL open fire on the crowd. Not without some politicos back at City Hall complaining about it, but they still WILL fire on the crowd if attacked. There's a line to be crossed and this is it.

I'd like to see Oddy cross the line twice. Like, say, he'll attack the army by throwing exploding milk carts at them or something like that.

Okay, I'm going to tighten things in the RP, as is my job as the de facto storyteller of this whole shit. Listen carefully:

Historical Storyteller Historical Storyteller , Guy and the state army will be busy curbing the riot. Reinforcements will come soon, but they'll have to hold out. Some of the rioters are armed with guns, which is normal in a gun-control-less country like New Atlanta. If the army decides to go overkill, and in essence throw a tantrum, they'll have to answer to Hedwin. And probably will have a lesser presence for a few weeks. Depends. Remy has met his death from rapid blood loss — stomach bleeding, what else can you expect?

Kloudy Kloudy , The Chronicler The Chronicler , Kronos' warning went unheeded by Clay who couldn't quite get the cryptography, and shot off the old man's instinctively, as my current draft asserts. Edward may skeddadle away from confusion, but he may not get away from the state army's view or Clay's stature.

xenforo_design xenforo_design , Elephantom Elephantom , Clay and Xing will pursue the radio operators and rough them up. The rats will go free, but who in the hell cares? Once they're down, we can wrap up this chapter.

Wandering Grim Hollow Wandering Grim Hollow , don't cause anymore trouble. I want to finish up this messy part as soon as possible.

Kronos is still gonna try and kill you though. He really doesn't care whether you know it or not. :3 It'll be up to Xing to raise an issue out of it as random people start attacking you in the street.

You're talking about a veteran here. He ain't gonna die easily.

Anyway, to all people in general, I need ideas for Fervor. I also updated the first part of the lore, and gave the whole lot of them a new look.

That wraps things up quite nicely. Though I'm wondering why some of the rioters haven't used their guns already. Maybe the rioters are using a concealed carry? If I had known about this earlier, I would have been more cautious...

Anyways, once the shooting starts, Guy and his soldiers will have to take cover. Elephantom, you're going to have to control the time when the reinforcements come in since this is your story. And I have to ask one more question, will I control the reinforcements that help Guy? Poor Guy, the bastard will have to hold out for a long long time before his buddies come to help him. He's so dead.

REMY! Goddamn it, I liked that guy. Well, anyone can die here so I can't always be so shocked when a person dies.

Edward Tahoma can escape because Guy is busy with the angry mob. But if the State Army swoops in with additional reinforcements, Edward will probably be chased around and he might even be caught if he's not careful.

Regarding Clay, Xing, and that biological weapon Kronus? Guy has too much on his plate to care.

Grim, noooooooooooooooo. I wanted this to be the Mexican standoff of the century.

FERVOR enhances passive abilities, right? Well, for one it could augment one of a person's five or seven senses? Maybe a hyper sensitivity FERVOR drug then? Enhance hearing, taste, smell, sight, touch, etc.

Maybe if you get too much of this hyper sensitivity drug your senses start to get overwhelmed or you start losing your sense of touch or smell or whatever.

Another FERVOR drug to use? Well, maybe it could temporarily increase one's intelligence or awareness or something. Makes the person learn faster temporarily. A brain drug.... or something. The problem is that it could make one retarded permanently.

A third one? I'd say a general performance enhancing drug of some sort that generally makes the person act faster and with greater decisiveness. The downside is that it will exhaust the person physically and mentally.

A fourth drug? Making a person more flexible. Problem is that the bones will get easily shattered.

That's all my ideas for now. I wonder what BLISS, ZEAL, and FERVOR look like though.

Oh, and I'll check out your lore, man.

The rioters on the other side are carrying guns. Most that are can't actually use them due to the cramped up street. If the army breaks them down, they'll probably start using them.

You can control when the reinforcements or how much they come in — but remember, if they cause too much destruction, than the city will cut down on their expenses to fix the buildings. That means no cool weapons — stupid lever-actions and coach guns only.

...

I have the second chapter planned out. It starts after a few weeks, with guy being thrown in on his bizarre colonel's plans to introduce a super-viral strain of common cold into the base to get it quarantined and essentially get a couple of free days, the tea supply running dry after one guy single-handedly finishes it, and Xing's film going into a coma because of the lack of tea — a significant item for most people. Clay will probably go into hiding because he roughed up some radio operators.

Mostly, that chapter's gonna be a bit more western than the usual theme — and there's also going to be some classic railway/train action present. Hehe, everybody loves those, don't they?

I actually have a few ideas of my own regarding the State Army that I haven't told you before.

I'll share some of them now. The State Army has soldiers that are in charge of logistics, administrative, and technical stuff. They shall be called the Specialists. These soldiers have a rank that is equivalent to a Corporal but the difference is that they are not Non-Commissioned Officers (You know, those guys that tell the Privates what to do). This means Specialists do not have to lead soldiers into battle, since their role is relegated to the more... administrative stuff instead of going into combat and leading people.

Since these Specialists do not have people to lead and they are assigned important administrative tasks, they take advantage of the system. They prank Sergeants and Corporals, and make most of the Privates do their dirty work. They tend to be the laziest and cunning members of the army since they have been there long enough to know what they can get away with. (They've been around for about 3 or 4 years.)

I was thinking that one or two of the Specialists would stash away a flamethrower in the supply depot or something like that, but it's a ludicrous idea. If this is to happen in the first place I would need to ask your permission.

Oh, and I was thinking that Doolittle Army Base needs some facilities to operate. Maybe enough barracks to accommodate its 500 men. A supply depot... and well I have to think more about what to add. Few watchtowers, an iron gate? Hmm, barbed wire? Foxholes? Trenches? Ah, that's stretching it a bit.

I was thinking of characters for the State Army.

The first is Lt. Colonel Porky Porco Bruscow, the commander of the State Army Garrison in Atlanta. This man is as fat as hell, and there is a rumor circulating that he is a marriage between "two pigs and one cow". Despite being fat he's still a capable commander and a surprisingly good fighter even in his old age. The problem is that he can be a bit... pigheaded at times, being enormously stubborn to the point that he doesn't listen to reason.

There's the renegade Lieutenant Alexander that is the wildest man in the State Army to ever live. He's famous for breaking into a suspected Communist hideout by blasting the side of a wall with explosives, quickly shooting any man who brandished their guns, and then he found out that it was a secret liquor store. Currently, Alexander is busy outfitting his Mark VIII tank with a flamethrower. Illegal move, Alex.

Hmm, hmm. Interesto. Will try to implement them into an implementable fashion.

Maybe you could make one drug that makes a person's body explode, but that takes suicide bombing to a whole new level.

Illegal move indeed, Alex. You can stash away all the flamethrowers you want, and it ain't my fault if they spontaneously explode.
