Yeah, Basic Mecha Maintenance wouldn't fit that role. A quick look in the UEEF book doesn't show any packages of skills that work as a gunsmith like the one in the Masters book.

I will let you snag that skill set. It makes sense to allow it.

Thanks! I couldn't think of any other MOS that fit! =)

In this game, do you want weapon modifications and upgrades to be suggested? Realistic stuff that we might find in Real Life (Special Forces military stuff like shotgun/M203 grenade launcher combinations, new types of Real Life ammunition, and the like)? Maybe as the game goes on, tweak our guns with small upgrades to make them better than stock guns? Boys love their toys and none moreso than Special Forces.

But it's your game. I can go either way.

Oh, I'll keep it under control. There is a wealth of goodies I know that can spice up any game with firearms in it without going overboard. I can do this! =)

Give me a few and I'll put the latest draft of my bear in here for you?

A few notes while I'm adding percentages here.

1. With the addition of the free Attribute of 24, his I.Q. skyrocketed (from 9 with C'arl the derpy soldier to 31 with the Karbarran and Jeet Kune Do bonuses). This puts him in T'kar's territory, but T'kar was a mechanic and I don't want to play him because Eon's Garudan already and rightly holds that role.

2. I had to get creative (no problem! I have ADHD for that!) to keep his ability to pilot a Silverback, but it happened. You'll find his pilot skill in the O.C.C. and his MECT and Combat Driving in his "Other" Skills. This allowed him to pick a new and more fitting M.O.S. (which I really appreciate!).

3. You'll probably notice he's lost a lot of Physical Skills and has made the transition from Hand to Hand: Commando to Jeet Kune Do 2.0.. (That ought to put a smile on Psychie's face!) That gives him a P.P. of 20 - just enough I think to be combat-capable without being in the territory of the other PCs. I like it this way - my bear is a science nerd become STORM-backed front-liner. (There is a military joke in here somewhere - "If you're a science guy and they picked you for the front lines, then you weren't smart enough for the lab, now were ya?!) Back to the character sheet! =)

He's got one Other Skill coming to him and I have to be careful how I use it. Here his latest draft.

Sounds like you have a good handle on your character creation process. I don't anticipate a problem.

We posted about the same time. Do you see his latest rough draft?

Terrific! 8D

I'll keep polishing it up and... hunting for a name. Thanks, you, for everything! =)

Sherwood Sherwood Just to let you know - I still love the idea of having Honey the Bit (Bit o' Honey!) around. While (nameless bear) can't reproduce Honey, maybe with his Computer Operations/Programming, he can make copies of Honey's hard drive in case "she" gets exploded?

Otherwise, if you're up for it, I like the idea of Honey basically being an R2-D2-like aid in scientific matters as well as just being a huge helping hand in his day-to-day life. =) Whether or not she goes into combat is up to you.

Also, are there any other Science-based skills (save maybe Astronomy?) that could help our team?

Oh, heck with it. I'm going to follow my own advice (get what the character wants) - Artificial Intelligence. =) He's such a nerd and I love it! =)

Sherwood Sherwood Whoops! Forgot to ask you to roll 2d8 please (for Physical Labor S.D.C.). =)

Yes, Bruce Lee and the Adolescent Radioactive Blackbelt Hamsters do exist.
I remember the ORIGINAL TMNT black and white comics where the turtles drank beer and cussed and killed people (Raphael was particularly vicious if I recall)
I don't know what Eon is going for with that MOS,
Onni was a oddity for the Garuda who with his genius picked up technology quickly. Garudans had 1950s tech when the Robotech Masters came to their world. And they were also basically tribal and lived off the land. So he learned his technical skills as a part of the Garudan resistance fighting the invid. I am happy to change or adjust Onni's background and skills. He does have the Alien Environment Combat MOS.
I don't know how much Eon has played Robotech,
I bought the first or second (I do not remember) edition Robotech RPG when I was in Middle School in the 80s. (I still have it somewhere buried in my basement with all my other Robotech books, its a bit worn) I have most of the books except for the newer ones that were published in the mid to late 2000s-2010s (of which I borrowed from a friend for this game). When it came out in the 80s my friends and I started playing Robotech more than D&D at that point...and went on to play TMNT, Beyond the Supernatural, lots of Palladium Fantasy, and eventually Rifts. Then we all went to college and most of us went on to play other things. My preference is Powered by the Apocalypse these days but honestly if I can get in a game I will play it or write in it.

Re: TMNT. Drank beer? Killed? Wow, that definitely isn't in the comics that I have. I have only heard about those a few times over the decades. =)

Re: Onni. Where did you pick up such a peculiar name? It's pretty cool; almost Japanese. (Oni = demon in Japnese but you probably knew that.)

Re: Robotech editions. As I understand it the shadow Chronicles is the beginning of the Palladium Robotech second edition. Everything that came before that is considered first edition. Do you mean first printing?

Re: Palladium games. Wow, you've played more Palladium games than I have but I'm willing to bet ol' Sherwood has us both beat in that department. =)

Re: Powered by the Apocalypse. I remember looking into that game once and really liking it but I had no one to play it with. Thank heavens for the internet, right?

Onni is a Finnish name meaning "Happiness and Luck". I maintain that Onni's Garudan name is unpronounceable and the onboarding human folks he worked with were Finns, so they gave him the name "Onni" mainly because of his demeanor.

Printing Yes....I think it was the second or third printing.
This is the image of the book (I am too lazy to go down in the basement and take a picture of my own copy)

Yeah I have no doubt, I suspect we both have played them all, even the obscure ones like After the Bomb, the Mechanoids, and Splicers. I think I even played a sesson of Recon way back in the day. I got the book for but never got to play Nightbane though.

Powered by the Apocalypse is a game system, there are many, many games that use it including the Avatar Legends game (which several of us are playing here on RPN), Masks: A New Generation (which is a teen superhero game that is very well done), Root (based on the Board Game), Monster of the Week, and many others.

I recall in the tmnt comic that I had, in the first three pages the turtles cut down fifteen street punks that tried to jump them. Soooo different than the lame cartoon.

Oh, how delightful! Leave it to the Finns to come up with such a beautiful word and meaning. =)

Eonivar Eonivar oh, yes! I own two copies as well as a small amount of the negatives used for that very book, courtesy of Kevin Siembieda!

Yeah! I have all of the books (including a copy of the original Mechanoids) mentioned here except for Nightbane. I'm happy to own and have read them; I've just never played them. (The artwork in Splicers alone is worth the money! Chuck Walton is incredible!)

Ah, right! I appreciate your correction! Thanks to cool-guy Jaydude, I did briefly play in an Avatar game just last year!

As I understand it, there are basically three different TMNTs:

1. The original adult comic I think the two of you are referencing.

2. The turtles in the first live action movie which embraced the comics that followed the original. (It is my understanding that the 2003 animated series follows them the closest.) These are the Turtles I know and like best.

3. The silly cartoon children-based Turtles that I could just never get into (as seen in the second, third, and I believe, fourth of the live-action movies).

Actually I watched two episodes of a later animated TMNT series maybe 5-10 years ago with Usagi Yojimbo in them done by Stan Sakai himself . Those were pretty good. Usagi Yojimbo is amazing!
