who am i? what am i?
Alexandra Smith
"It's just for the summer, Germ. I'll be back soon" she said, to her overprotective roommate/best friend who still couldn't grasp the fact that the two wouldn't be spending their summer together. Walking over to him, she engulfed him in a tight hug before placing a chaste kiss on his cheek and tapping that same cheek right after. "I know, but you're ditching me. And stop calling me that name, you know I hate it" he replied, and a smirk made it's way on Alexandra's face as she shook her head and walked back over to her packed suitcases. One thing she absolutely loved about his name, Jeremy, was the fact that she could shorten it into sounding like Germ. He hated it because it was "disrespectful to all Jeremy's across the universe, and we deserve better than being called gErM's", but she was never going to stop it.
After countless pleads from Jeremy for her to stay and countless rebuttals from Alexandra saying she had to go, she was finally out of the door and on her way to the airport. Diana had set everything up for her, from her flight to New York to her reception of her identification card so she could actually make it to the tower. None o her friends back in Sacramento, including Jeremy, knew the real reason she was leaving for the summer. For all they knew, she was going to meet with her real parents, but she was actually on her way to run around and play superhero. She was actually surprised that no one said anything about her sword and shield at baggage check, but knowing Diana she probably had something to do with that.
While she sat on the plane after getting settled, she laid her head on the window and closed her eyes as thoughts came in and out of her mind. Sometimes she wanted to tell all her friends that she was an amazon and not human, but the repercussions could be too much if they don't reciprocate the news in a good way. She's not surprised that Jeremy never found her shield or sword, since the boy was rather oblivious and could care less to check over what she brought in their home. All that mattered was that the rent was paid and they had fun together, so nothing else was any of his concern. His laid back and unskeptical personality was another driving factor of their friendship. She didn't want to tell him everything about her past and that was okay with him, since they both had a mutual understanding of what was off limits.
Just as her thoughts started to wander back to Themyscira and Isabella, she heard the pilot announce that they'd be landing soon. Nice save, because once that book was open she could never close it again. The process of getting of the plane was relatively smooth, except for a noisy baby but nothing Alex couldn't handle.
Her uber driver looked at her weird when she told him where she was heading, probably because he'd expect her to go to a hotel with all her luggage but she just shrugged it off. She offered him a friendly smile as she exited the car and headed to in what seemed to be the direction of the photo booth. The photo booth appeared in her sight, but she decided to stop by at the railing for a bit to admire the view.
That "little bit" ended up being almost half an hour, and the only reason she left so soon was because some guy tried stealing her luggage. Safe to say she beat his ass, but that just made her scurry over to the photo booth so she could get the hell out of there as soon as possible. She fumbled with her card but eventually got a grip on it, and directed it in front of the scanner that she found. Her eyes shut tight as she was beamed over to the Titans island, and the next time she opened her eyes she was in a similar booth but no longer near the East River railing in Manhattan.
Lightly wiping the sweat off her palms onto her dark blue jeans, Alec readjusted her fleece jacket before noticing figures entering the building with a large T on it. "So much for being on time" she mumbled, trudging over to the entrance that the figures had just disappeared into. Her phone kept vibrating in her back pocket, but she already knew it was Jeremy so she didn't even bother to bring it out and reply. Leaving Jeremy on delivered would cause a whole lot of yelling from his end whenever she called him, but she could handle an angry Germ.
Stalking into the tower her eyes widened in surprise and in amazement. She didn't expect it to look this beautiful, but she didn't have time to gawk since she was already behind on her schedule of arrival. In an effort of hastiness Alex made a beeline to the elevator, and once she finally felt relaxed she pulled out her phone. Wincing at the vulgar language Jeremy had used to describe her for not replying and making him worry, she decided to reply with a simple "I landed safely and I'm at the house now". Although she didn't know if a building if this caliber could be referenced as only a house, she decided to leave it at that and put her phone back in her pocket despite the constant buzzing indicating he had already replied.
Walking into the room, Alex was met with many different faces that she couldn't recognize but knew she'd have to grow familiar with. "Holy shit, my bad for being late. Shitty first impression I know, but uh my name is Alexandra. Call me Alex, please and thank you" she announced, stumbling over her words due to her need to get them out quickly. A friendly smile made it's way on her face as she plopped herself down on a couch, sitting beside a small black boy. Her luggage was on the right to her on the ground, and she slowly pulled her phone out to see the messages from Jeremy once again. Wincing at his vulgar messages again, she slowly placed her phone into her and crossed her legs on the couch. Turning her attention back to everyone she opened her mouth again, but this time in query. "So, did I miss anything important or..." she trailed off, attentively watching for anyone who could answer her question.
