Corr nodded before getting up. "Yes sir." He said before disposing of his cigar. He walked out of the briefing room and headed towards the mess hall. He was going to change. He needed to let these people know they could trust him.

Kal Rezd turned round to face him. Instinctively, she drew up of what she knew of him. Alejandras tel-Murkuntelli, a Wahlru equipped with cybernetic extremities. Acting as the secondary engineer and weapons expert aboard the ship. Formerly employed by the ITF, defected to the Titan during the mission on Bhalaja. Being the secondary engineer, Alejandras’ requisitions are costly on the supplies, but never dull. She had to give it to him; she rather much enjoyed processing his orders.

Kal, being Delrothi, was by no means anything besides short. Next to Alejandras though—she scarcely reached his waist! She kept a good few feet between the two of them so she didn’t have to peer skywards to look at him.

“Inferos is precisely what you’d expect from the name—the dry rock is scorched and the rivers are flowing streams of lava. Although the space around the planet was filled with ITF ships, and although we were kept in vast prison-fortresses, the policing was pretty lax. They figured that, so long as we didn’t attack ITF personnel, it didn’t matter what we did. There was no chance of escaping the place, and we were all sentenced to life or death, what difference would it make if inmates were at each other's throats?

“Naturally, there were gangs. Soon after the capture of my ship, the Murderous Widow, and my subsequent imprisonment on the planet, I had worked myself into one of the larger gangs, my skills as a quartermaster proving useful to the efficiency of the gang.

“I remained quartermaster for maybe a year or so before meeting Ezro. He had decided to brave the brimstone world by himself, rather than pledge allegiance to a gang as I had. He and Ollie had devised an escape plan, and they were recruiting a crew.

“Typically, I prefer the practical, most functional options. While an escape had a slim chance of success, who wouldn’t want to leave that hellhole? I had heard rumours that a rival gang was going to make an attack to wipe my own gang out, so I took the opportunity to leave while I had it.”

Kal folded her arms, and eyeing Alejandras, she said: “Unlike much of this crew, I have never been with the ITF. From what I gather, this is a blessing, but nonetheless I often wonder what life with them was like. While many here were involved in the expressedly military aspects of the ITF, I do believe you were not. I am this curious to how that was like, if you do not mind me so inquiring.” Kal realized that, although she liked the Wahlru, the two of them rarely did converse. She had found that what one takes out of the storerooms offers insight into their personality, and if Alejandras’ was anything to go by, she fancied getting to know him better.

Alejandras took a moment to absorb the information. Infernos, a gang infested, ITF controlled hellscape of a planet. Kal Rezd, imprisoned there with Ezro Strider and the other engineer, 'Ollie'. A quartermaster from the beginning it seemed. Additionally, a small, diminutive reptilian race known as the Delrothi. Very extravagant frills. He decided to spill out some information on himself.

"I joined the crew after Bhalaja, of course. It had been controlled by the ITF for a while, atleast two decades." Alejandras took his thoughts within himself for a second, before continuing on his story.

"They had, discovered the presence of many valuable metals and minerals within our mountains. Decided to strip-mine the whole planet, total industrialization. As you can see, with these... cybernetic extremities, well, they did this to everyone. Women, men, the elderly. Only ones that were safe were the politicians, essentially powerless to stop anything. We were infants to the galaxy. Our technology had only gone so far to interplanetary communication satellites. You see, that's how the ITF found us."

"If we were to fight back, our extinction would have begun right then and there, a planet devoid of life. If you read any of the ITF's bullshit news, it'll speak much about smaller insurrections and uprisings on Bhalaja. Several thousand ITF goons dead everytime. They're doing good work at home."
Alejandras laughed to himself for a minute.

"When Ezro, you, and the other two made landfall on Bhalaja, it was easy to find you, no offense. You stuck out like a sore thumb. And, what can I say, word travels fast in the black market." Alejandras paused for a second, then continued.

"But anyways, we should get to breakfast, shouldn't we? Don't want to keep the Fish waiting!" Alejandras guffawed at the thought. He walked down the pristine corridors of The Titan along with Kal, walking much slower to keep pace with the smaller crewmate.

zinnia_silane_3_render_by_notsocreativ_d9jlaqt-pre.png"A checkup?" Alice didn't really think she needed one nor did she want one to be honest. "No I'm good I'm just extra hungry this morning. Fell asleep last night without dinner."

“2398 is functioning as intended,”

Alice looked at Ezro a little stunned when she heard Sil's voice then it hit her. "Seriously?" Well, she sort of did fall for it though it was really only for looks. She liked to think she knew Ezro well enough not to get tricked by Sil.

“My business here has concluded. I shall return to the kitchen at once, ma’am. Breakfast will be served at the usual time,” “When you find him, could you please give these to the captain. They are from Doctor Everett.”

Alice took the pills then looked back at Sil. "Sil why are you disguised like that?" She didn't really get the point of it. "By the way, I knew something was off about your pancakes. Who puts bacon in pancakes?!

"One of the crewmen in engineering requested it three months ago, then it caught on," Sil said as her appearance began to change back. The color began to fade from the captain's bright red hair. She also began to shrink and her skin shifted from the captain's tan hide to a pale, silky smooth white. "I'm referring to the bacon pancakes, by the way. Not... this," she added for clarification. Actually, a few crewmen had requested she change into certain forms for them. Fifty credits to turn into their favorite celebrity . One hundred for whatever pornstar they were into this week. Most just wanted to take a selfie, but others wanted... more. Either way, the answer was always 'no,' 'hell no,' or 'are you serious,' followed by 'NO!'

"The doctor isn't the only one who performs regular checkups," she said in response to Alice's other query, once the transformation was complete. Sil deactivated the holographic projectors on her bodysuit, causing the false image of the captain's workout shorts and bare chest to disappear. She was 100% herself once more. "That woman has access to everyone's health records and a large stockpile of potentially dangerous medical paraphernalia. It is my duty to ensure her intentions are pure," she explained, not caring that Everett could probably hear all of this. "For what it is worth, my investigations thus far have revealed no ill intent... but this will not be the last time I observe her, up close or from afar."

As she said all of this, her tone was strictly business, like a soldier reporting to her commanding officer. She showed no ill will toward Everett or, if she did, she hid it very well. "Our new helmsman is also on my radar," Sil added, "but he saved the captain's life. That, at least, has earned him some leeway... for now. If that is all, ma'am, I am needed in the kitchen."

Corr sat in the mess. He checked his pad to make sure the ship wasn't going off course. He was the newest member of the crew. So he hoped he could make a decent first impression on the crew. He leaned in his seat and started to sing. It was an old rebel song about a solider turned smuggler.

''When the stars shine bright threw an engines trail as the dust of another world drops behind. When my ship is free of the open sky. That's a damn good day bin my mind."
He thought about the lyrics as s he waited for breakfast

As Jacen left, Ezro waited for a moment to boot up the digital display and ensure all of the date and files he needed for the briefing were present. Images, background information, current location, and plan of action all were set and ready to be brought up at any given time. A toothy grin spread across the Captains face, and he shut down the projector once more, knowing full well that today’s mission would be a pleasant surprise for everyone.

With that taken care of, Ezro returned onto the bridge where he ran a few diagnostic check ups on the ships status. Fuel level was a little lower than he was comfortable with, though most of the mechanical sectors of the ship were functioning at max capacity with the others straggling just a little bit. There was an apparent error with the Gravitational Flux Control (a machine that allowed for the ship to fly in any direction, but would keep all items and people on board upright without feeling a thing. Making it essential for dogfights and combat on the ship). Ezro quickly pulled out his Data Pod and downloaded the error message, before sending it to Alejandres and Ollie with a message.

“Take care of this as soon as you can. This takes priority after the briefing today.”

With that done, Ezro resumed checking up on the systems and taking note of any other errors or malfunctions.

After speaking with the First Mate, Silmaris made her way to the kitchen, checking her data pod along the way. All six droids were done and awaiting her arrival. She was behind schedule, but could still salvage this and get breakfast served on time. With every step, her mind raced, looking for ways to shave off a few seconds. She was a spy and assassin first and a cook second, but this is the job she was hired to do and she hadn’t failed at it yet. She took it very seriously.

While she was sending commands to the droids to preheat the cooktop, a message from the captain flashed onto her datapod: “Reminder! After breakfast today at 10 there’ll be a mission briefing. Be sure to be there otherwise you won’t be included on the bounty and the payout.”

Yes, yes, we already know, Sil thought, slightly annoyed. She swiped the message off of her screen as she strode toward the cafeteria, maintaining a brisk pace. She passed Alejandras and Kal along the way. It was a little strange to see those two conversing together.

“Good morning,” Sil said dryly as she passed them by and rounded the corner into the cafeteria. Once there, she found Corr waiting. “Ten minutes,” Sil said as she passed him by and disappeared into the kitchen..

Five of her six droids were standing at attention, like soldiers awaiting their commands. The sixth was hovering over the hot cooktop, spraying a fine mist of oil on its surface. As far as AI goes, the droids weren’t particularly intelligent, but they were capable of learning and had improved significantly over time.

When Sil first joined the Titan, after the previous cook met an untimely end, there were only two of them and all they could do was clean. She slowly purchased more, usually from junk vendors, and repaired them herself. She knew almost nothing about robotics, but the internet contained a wealth of information and she even resorted to asking Ollie for help once or twice, though her pride usually prevented her from seeking assistance until she’d exhausted all other options.

“Nine minutes, 33 seconds,” Sil said as she washed up and grabbed her apron from a peg hook by the door. It had the words ‘gon fishin’ on the front. Someone thought it was a funny welcoming gift. She never found out who. Sometimes, the best revenge is to just go along with the joke.

Now that she was suited up for battle, Sil began commanding her troops: “3854, you’re on coffee duty. 2398, biscuits in the oven, now. 9962, you’re with me, on the cooktop.” She grabbed a spatula and began pouring pancake batter onto the hot cooktop, while 9962 mirrored her, doing the same with scrambled eggs. “7330 and 4359, you’re on the frontline. Plates first, then drinkware, set the beverages last. You know the drill. And 6869, you’re on exotic dishes. Get those Feryxian gutworms into the blender. Jilmar complained they were too chunky last time, so run it on high for 45 seconds, instead of the usual thirty. If that’s still too chunky for him, he can make his own fucking worm-slushie.”

The kitchen was a flurry of activity, but it was all controlled chaos. As she worked, the stack of pancakes grew higher, along with the piles of eggs and various meats and vegetables and 'stuff' from planets she had never heard of. She questioned whether some of this was even food, but every item she prepared was for someone on this ship and who was she to question their personal taste?

Sil glanced at the time. Two minutes left. In one graceful movement, she swung around and snatched open the oven door, just in time for 2398 to swoop in and lift the tray of golden brown biscuits from inside and spray them with a light coat of butter, before sliding them from the tray, into a basket carried by 7330, who scurried away toward the door to the cafeteria, where it handed the biscuits off to 4359, who placed the basket alongside the various other food on a long buffet-style spread.

"One minute left," Sil whispered to herself as she tossed her spatula into the sink and let the droids carry the last of the food from the kitchen to the serving table, while she started cleaning up. She didn't often eat with the others and really wasn't in the mood for it this morning, so she decided to get a head start on the cleaning and eat after everyone else had had their turn.

"Good morning," Said Kal as Sil passed by. She seemed in a rush, yet Kal Rezd thought nothing of it.

She entered the mess hall along with Alejandras. There, they found Jacen Corr already seated. She drew up a profile of him, though limited in scope due the short time she'd known him. Jacen Corr, an ITF defect formerly belonging to the Alphas. Defected following an ITF assault on his homeworld, Nimeria. Kal was glad her own world had not suffered a fate similar to various worlds such as Jacen's or Alejandras'. Conversation between us has been minimal and he has yet to requisition anything of notability. She offered greeting to him.

Corr nodded to her as he neared the end of the song.
'So take my love. Take my land. Take me where I cannot stand. I don't care I'm still free you can't take the sky from me.'

He looked and saw Kal standing near the door. He stopped singing and looked at the person. He nodded at her as he closed his eyes
"It's Kal right?" He asked as he turned his head towards the person his eyes were still closed.

"Be my guest." He said moving the seat a little towards her. He gave her a small smile. "So Quatermaster how's it like on the ship." He said. He kept his attention on her as he took in her appearance. he hasn't seen that many Delrothies during his time in service. Than again the Alphas specialty was to weed out anyone who got in the ITF's way. Which for the most part Delrothies were not.

She relaxed her stance and sat down in the provided seat, expecting Alejandras to follow suit and take the next seat along. "Life on the Titan is good; my own life hasn't been this good since I left the Bakris Tavarral." She added: "That was the merchant ship I served on before I was captured by pirates nearly ten years ago. How are you settling in?"

Jagson Jagson GolemGuy GolemGuy

"Settling in fine. The Titan is definitely bigger than the Corvette that I was stationed on." He said. "The foods better too." He thought of his next words carefully. "So what's it like serving on a merchant ship."

Bard Bard Bard Bard

"It was different." Said Kal. "Life was less exciting, the crew less characterful, but it was more consistent and organized, to say the least. Initially, I had been apprenticing under Captain Vasel Nekesht, a successful and famous merchant back at my world. Eventually, I became the chief mate on the ship, fulfilling much the same role as I do here." By this point, food was being served by the droids, arranged as a buffet along one of the tables.

zinnia_silane_3_render_by_notsocreativ_d9jlaqt-pre.pngAlice watched as Sil walked off heading to the kitchen. "Well as long as she doesn't try any of those tricks on me....or turns into me. I'm good." Alice looked turned to look at Everett. "Welp! I'm going to find Ezro and deliver these." And with that, she was off searching the ship. Actually, the search didn't take that long seeing as since he was probably done with his workout by now he was either in his room or maybe at the bridge. She decided to check the bridge first and she was right! Alice walked up to him. He seemed to be busy with something. She wondered if he even noticed someone came in. "Morning! Got a delivery for ya!" She said as she held out the pills.

Ezro was in the middle of the last stability check when a sudden voice behind him caused him to jump and whip around, with his right hand poised to grab the pulse saber strapped to his side. However he relaxed as he saw his First Mate Alice standing at attention behind him. Letting off a disgruntled sigh, he let his hand rest at his side before turning around to finish the check.

“What have I told you about sneaking up on me Alice?” In all honesty it wasn’t her fault, but more his for not being attentive to the subtle sounds around him. Though the headache still pounding away in his skull didn’t benefit him in that area. After the diagnostics were finished, he stood up straight and turned back around to face the woman once more with his arms folded. “Eve sent you on a deliver huh? Odd, usually she just waits for me to show up and grab them myself.” Ezro accepted the bottle of tablets from Alice before grabbing two of them and gulping them down, before sealing the capsule back up and sticking it in one of his jacket pockets.

“How are you this morning?” He questioned rather idly as he walked past her, making a motion with his hand for her to follow. The captain didn’t travel far, and headed inside his private quarters where a mess could be seen of various charts and maps strewn about the floor as well various bottles.

‘I really need to clean this place up.’ Ezro grumbled in his head before he began looking through unraveled papers and cutouts of larger maps. ‘Damnit.... where the hell did I put that freighter schedule?’

Alice blinked, "Sneaking up on you? I wasn't even trying to this time haha. You're just not on your A game."

“Eve sent you on a deliver huh? Odd, usually she just waits for me to show up and grab them myself.”

"Oh well, I just happened to be nearby so I was asked to deliver." She said leaving out the part about Sil. She handed him the bottle and took his pills. Well now that was done she guessed she make her way to breakfast. Probably have to wait if it wasn't done yet. Honestly, Alice had no idea what time it was. She hadn't been paying any attention.

“How are you this morning?”

Her stomach growled. "Hungry, very hungry." She said as she followed him into his private quarters. Which was quite a mess she had to admit. "When was the last time you cleaned up in here?" She said as she looked around. Well, she wasn't surprised there were bottles everywhere. She really did wish he cut down on the drinking.

“A few days, you’d figure I’d have learned my lesson by now and would atleast try to keep things organized.” Ezro stopped down and finally pulled up the chart he was looking for. “Yet I always manage to make a mess of things don’t I?” He neatly rolled up the record and set it on his desk to be retrieved later, “Though I suppose that’s the story of my life isn’t it?” Ezro said with a chuckle.

“Hey, how’ve the twins been?“ He questioned rather suddenly. Though he’d never admit it, he always felt guilt for separating them from their sister. He knew all too well the perils of missing a sibling. So he made it a point of always inquiring of them and ensuring that they were well. He’d thought of bringing them along with Alice, but he figured she’d never accept such an offer due to the perils they faced on the daily.

Kal Rezd was taken aback by Corr's offer; usually, she fetched her own food. Nevertheless, it could potentially sow animosity if she declined his generosity, so she gratefully accepted it. "Thank you. I'll have two pancakes, if that's quite alright—the bacon ones."

She started to respond to that but suddenly was asked a question.

“Hey, how’ve the twins been?“

"The twins? Oh!" Alice prompted herself on the desk making sure not to sit on the chart. "They turned 13! Just yesterday! They sent me pictures and videos of the party. Looks like they had a lot of fun. I wish I could have been there......Which reminds me I need to buy them a gift. It'll be a pretty late gift but it'll be fine. Oh, you wanna see the pictures?!" She went to grab her pod but realized she didn't have it on her. "Darn it! I left it in my room. Well, whatever I'll just show you later."

Corr nodded before putting two if the bacon pancakes onto her plate. He grabbed a fork and laid the plate by Kal. "Enjoy." He said. "Hey fish girl you planning on joining us." He said loudly in the direction of the kitchen. He turned and picked out some pancakes and eggs.

As Alice spoke, a sad smile touched the corner of Ezro’s mouth though he didn’t let it stay long. “I’m sure you must miss them, hell I know for a fact that I do too.” During his days hiding out with Alice on her home planet, Ezro had learned to be a little more endearing to children. His tough guy attitude soon faded after the first couple days being around them, and it wasn’t long before he was playing the comedian and trying to make them laugh as much as possible. It was one of the few things keeping him happy during the time. Though it only ate at him more when he was inevitably taken away from them, their sad eyes bringing all the more spite towards those who had wronged him.

“Oh but by all means, I’d love to see the pictures. And if it’s not too much to ask, when you send them your gift I’d like to give them something as well.”

animegirl20 animegirl20

"Of course you can! They love to get something from you. Which by the way they miss you too. They've asked about you, haha," Alice said as stretched out her arms. "I would like to visit them when we're able......would us visiting them bring danger their way?" Alice asked. That was the one thing that worried her a little was if her wanting to go see them just put them in danger.
