The Xevious System

An Intergalactic system of planets all within a supposed “civilized area” meaning that the majority of the inhabitants that reside on the many planets possess the ability to communicate, trade, and formulate a sophisticated system of government. All planets within are under the Careful Protection of the ITF, which act as the law enforcement the the system. However not all of the planets within the Xevious System boundaries accept this supposed protection, and are seen as rogue planets that harbor a threat of violence toward all others under the ITF. Because of this war has plagued various portions of the system, with some even erupting on controlled planets that wished to be freed from ITF control.

Bounties began arising throughout the black market, which caught the attention of Headhunters and Pirates alike. Assassinations of officials (government affiliated or otherwise), abductions, transport of all kinds of goods (be they legal or not), hacking attempts, theft missions, all sorts of dirty work that could provide quite a solitary life for someone who could make a living out of it. Missions came from both sides of the fray, with rebellious planets seeking help and the ITF pursuing control.

With how massive the system is, there’s many worlds and cultures to explore, and creatures to battle. Not only this, but with how advanced technology has become, it has made exploration and combat all the more easy.

The Interspace Task Force
(AKA: The Bad Guys)

“The supposed heroes of the Xevious System! A government organization responsible for unifying and promoting the well being of all planets within their protection.”
In other words, a power hungry group of assholes responsible for the oppression and forced control over many planets within the confines of the Xevious System. They paint themselves up as heroes, saving planets from poverty and integrating them into an even more “advanced society.” When in all reality, they exploit the various natural resources found on some of these urban planets and force the inhabitants thereof to be as slaves to them. All the while they keep this horrendous activity on the down low with the information rarely leaking to the public eye.

However, should information get out and officials of various planets begin to rise up against their “protection” it’s a simple as the pull of a trigger to solve their problems. Various “accidents” occurred to elected officials of different planets in a rather short period of time, leaving room for more compliant people to rise to power. People were always suspicious of the incident, but in the end they feared speaking up and meeting the same fate.

Fear tactics, slavery, murder, just some of the few crimes against the ITF

But how can you punish the very people sworn to enforce the law? Especially when the entire system still believes them to be heroes? Well the fortunate news is, we aren’t soldiers, so it’s none of our concern. S

(Long story short though, these punks are gonna be the main antagonists against our gang of pirates. If ever they are seen, use extreme caution!)

The Titan
A repossessed and repurposed ITF battle cruiser, “borrowed” by the one and only Ezro Strider. This baby comes equipped with all sorts of heavy artillery and weapons of mass destruction to fend off any and all threats to the crew housed within. It comes fitted with several different types of rooms displayed below that will fulfill every crew members tasks and needs. The ship consists of three levels, the bottom floor housing the Maintenanc/Engineering Bay and Training area. The middle floor has the standard rooms for crew members, cafeteria, kitchen, medical office, and a small recreational room with all sorts of gaming machines and activities to engage in. The top floor houses the Bridge which serves as the control room of the ship, the Briefing Room where orders and missions are given out, and finally the captains own private quarters.

Hand and sized tablets that function as communication, transaction, and entertainment devices. All of the crew aboard The Titan have been issued these as a means of keeping in contact with one another. They can be modified to their users oreference.

Communications: Anything from sending messages, to video feeds, to basic calls, these things work effortlessly across the system. Though they are prone to malfunctions should they be taken to unknown planets or regions. They also allow access to the Universal Wide Web, meaning you can access random information and most importantly po- no no, I’m kidding. I mean I’m not, but yknow.

Transactions: These babies are basically you’re debit cards, allowing you to transfer chips when purchasing goods and services. All crew have a fair amount from an even split of rewards from bounties they’ve taken care of (They are not bounty hunters). While most transactions are tracked by the ITF, our crews date pods have been modified to stay under the radar.

Entertainment: Movies! TV! Music! Po- NO again, I’m kidding. Except again I’m really not. Any form of time wasting entertainment your character could need is on these things! You can even have a drone mail order you food! Though I don’t see why you’d need to do that when we have a wonderful cook. Please note there’s also a health application that tracks each individuals vitals, and keeps track of their exercise history. Captain Strider will have no couch potatos on his crew!

Cruciatus
Ceremedere occuitilla

Cephalapodian freak.png

The cruciatus is a cephalopod native to Piekyuri VII.

Cruciatus have many tentacles that can be separated into four basic categories. The first category of tentacles are ovipositors, which are long, fleshy, and elastic tentacles that are used to deposit their eggs. Along the lateral sides of the ovipositors are nematocysts that release a narcotic chemical. The anterior end of the ovipositor has a serrated spine and a small orifice where the eggs are released. The second category of tentacles are the oral tentacles. The oral tentacles are larger than the ovipositors, and are tipped with circular mouths lined with teeth. The oral tentacles are directly connected with the digestive system of the cruciatus and are used in conjunction with the digestive chemicals to eat their hosts alive. The third category of tentacles are the digestive tentacles, which are long, narrow, and black. The digestive tentacles release a digestive enzyme into the host that work in conjunction with the oral tentacles to eat their hosts alive. The fourth and final category of tentacles are the locomotive tentacles. The locomotive tentacles are more girthy and muscular than the other tentacles, and the ventral surface is covered with hooks and pores. The hooks are used to secure a cruciatus to it's host, and the pores release a bonding agent that forms a membrane between the crucaitus and the host, temporarily connecting the cruciatus to the host.

Cruciatus have a total of four hearts. Two of the hearts pump blood to the tentacles, one pumps blood to the lower body, and one pumps blood to the upper body. The cruciatus breathe through a series of facial slits that pass through a suprabranchial organ, and then enter the stacked gills in the abdomen. The large head of the cruciatus contains a complex organ that is used to concoct and release pheromones, and six branch-like organs located on the doral surface of the cruciatus are used to transmit and receive pheromones for long distance communication. Extensive study has shown that the cruciatus have a sort of gestalt consenus, where individuals are able to communicate with little to no interference across tremendous distances. Further study may be needed to figure out how they communicate by this method. The cruciatus' eyes are located on two ommatophores above a sac-like organ filled with methane that is able to expand and contract covered in bioluminescent chromatophores. The purpose of this organ is unknown, but most theories lead to short-distance communication or courtship between mating pairs. A pair of olfactory tubes are located at the anterior end of the head, the insides of which are lined with microscopic bristles that have been shown to function similarly to human nostrils.

Cruciatus are hermaphrodites, having both male and female sex organs. The female genitals are located on the abdomen of the cruciatus, with one ovipore on each side. The male gentialia is located at the posterior base of the tentacles. The male gentialia is an elastic tentacle that is tipped with a spermatophore. The tentacle is retracted when not in active use. After a pair of cruciatus have bred, they often remain near eachother. It is unknown why this is, and further study into this behavior is pending authorization.

The most distinct trait of the cruciatus is it's parasitic behavior, which can be seperated into five separate stages.

Stage 1
Stage one of the parasitism occurs after a cruciatus has located a potential host. The cruciatus will stalk the potential host until the host in incapacitated, but have shown to loose interest in a host after a week. After a host is incapacitated, the cruciatus will crawl onto the hosts' head, and the locomotive tentacles' hooks will dig into the flesh of the host. After the locomotive tentacles have secured themselves onto a host, ventral pores will release a bonding agent that forms a fibrous membrane between the cruciatus and the host, temporarily anchoring the cruciatus to the host.

Stage 2
Stage two of the parasitism occurs only a few minutes after a cruciatus has anchored itself to a host. The ovipositors will enter the mouth of a host, using the serrated spine to cut it's way to the spinal column and the narcotic chemical to relax the muscular and nervous system. Once the ovipositors has reached the spinal column, the tentacles with dislocated the spinal column, opening a pathway to the cerebral cavity. The ovipositors will then proceed to the anterior of the brain and bore an alcove into the frontal lobe. After the alcove has been carved, the ovipositors will remain in the cerebral cavity.

Stage 3
Stage three of the parasitism occurs after the ovipositors have carved an alcove into the frontal lobe, and will last around two-three weeks. The oral tentacles will find their way to the eyes and begin to chew through the eyes. After the eyes have been eaten, the digestive tentacles will enter the sockets. The oral tentacles will eat their way to the bone, and the digestive tentacles will dissolve away the inferior orbital fissure. After the interior orbital fissure has been breached, the oral and digestive tentacles will begin to eat away the non-vital organs and any tissue in the way.

Stage 4
Stage four of the parasitism occurs halfway through stage three. The cruciatus will begin to broadcast a pheromone. If another cruciatus transmits their pheromone, the cruciatus will begin to excite the nervous system, causing the host to move while being devoured, all while it is still living. Once the cruciatus have found eachother, they will insert their spermatophore into the other's ovipore. The pair will remain near each other until the eggs have finished gestation. Egg clutches often rear 15 individuals.

Stage 5
Stage 5 of the parasitism occurs after the eggs have finished gestation. The ovipositors will begin to deposit two egg clutches into the alcove of the brain. This process often takes twenty minutes to complete. After the eggs have been deposited, the cruciatus will retract their ovipositors and begin to eat away at the vital organs. After all the vital organs besides the brain has been devoured, the cruciatus will tear apart the membrane connecting it to the host, and place itself over the body. The cruciatus will guard the now dead host by firing digestive enzymes and lashing out with nematocysts. The cruciatus will often die before the eggs hatch, which takes a week. Once the egg hatches, the larvae will eat the brain of the host or cannibalize smaller individuals, before breaching through the parietal bone. The larvae will eat the rest of the body, including the bone.

The cruciatus has been used as the ITF as an interrogation tool for fifteen years. Cruciatus were held in compounds on the planet Nerakyes, until a critical power failiure caused the thousands of cruciatus inside the compounds to either parasitize the staff within the compound, or escape into the public. Over 1/10 of civilian lives were lost within the first ten years of the cruciatus' escape and subsequent recapturing.

Tymar

System Overview:
Tymar is the second planet in a four-planet system, orbiting the yellow star, Akshalla. It is the only planet within Akshalla’s habitable zone. The first planet, Khatavar, is a scorched ball of rock with no atmosphere, but rich in uranium, cobalt, iron, and various rare metals. The third and fourth planets, Vaemir and Ultaghar, are both gas giants. Vaemir’s four small moons are a particularly rich source of trinitite, a rare wonder metal used for starship gravity cores and warp drives, and has been colonized by the ITF, while Ultaghar’s icy rings have become a popular pirate hideout. The Tymari people visited all three planets approximately 150-200 years ago and established small colonies, but lacked the technology for building a significant presence or venturing outside of the Akshalla System. They did, however, launch unmanned probes into deep space, which is likely how the ITF discovered them.
Planetary Statistics:
Population: approximately 3.1 billion
Demographics: ~95% Tymari, ~5% Other
Surface Gravity 0.9 to 1.2g
Biome(s): Waterworld. 85% freshwater, temperate climate, with some polar icing. Regularly exceeds 30% humidity
Natural Satellite(s): one rocky moon, Roan. Very little atmosphere. Tidally locked. Mass and proximity greatly affect planetary gravity and the ocean’s tide. Planet-facing side has been colonized for approximately 150 years; very little activity on its dark side.

Appearance / Notable Features:
From space, Tymar looks like a big blue marble with wispy white clouds and icing near its poles, not unlike ancient Earth. There is almost no landmass. Its moon, Roan, is a pale gray sphere, pock-marked with craters and deep crevasses, and is nearly half the size of Tymar, which can make the two look like a binary system when seen from afar. At night, the lights of domed cities can be seen from space, on both Tymar and its moon. The planet has a relatively low population density, but people tend to congregate into tightly-compressed urban areas, instead of spreading evenly, which results in dots of urban sprawl in the shallows.

However, the planet’s most notable feature is manmade: ITF Water Extraction Facility 42, aka “Blue Point.” This massive, ring-shaped ITF space station sits at the LaGrange point about halfway between Tymar and Roan. It generates a highly-directional gravity well that draws water up from Tymar and freezes it into crystals to be sold to various ITF planets and corporations. On one end, a massive waterspout connects this station to Tymar’s surface. On its other end, a sparkling eruption of ice crystals pours out, peppering Roan’s surface with hail. Some ice crystals have actually become trapped in Roan’s orbit, forming a hazy ring of ice. Construction of this massive ITF water extraction facility began nearly thirty years ago and its activation a decade ago was the cause of major dissent on Tymar.

Points of Interest:
Blue Point: The planet’s largest water extraction facility, and the largest man-made gravity well in the known universe. Blue Point is not just a giant straw sucking up Tymar’s precious water supplies, it is a symbol of the ITF’s power. The station --and the enormous stream of water traveling up to it-- is large enough to be seen virtually anywhere on the hemisphere it is orbiting over. Many have also theorized that it can function as a weapon if its gravity-generation technology is turned to more nefarious uses.

Domed Cities: Because Tymar’s tide rises and falls hundreds of feet in a single day, no land-based structure is safe from the sea. In ancient times, most Tymari cities were simply built deep underwater, but, with the discovery of electricity and other higher forms of technology, the desire to be “dry” caused a migration toward the shallows. Towns and cities built on stilts or platforms became the norm until construction progressed to the point that domed cities in the shallows or deep under the sea became commonplace. The arrival of the ITF saw a huge boom in the construction of domed cities. They even built domes over some ancient cities that had been submerged for thousands of years, turning them into tourist destinations. The debate between wet versus dry living is a hotly-contested topic amongst the Tymari people, with some fearing that Tymar is becoming too dry and straying too far from its roots.

Crisis Zone 33: An icy stretch of Roan’s surface covering approximately 200 square miles. Ice from the tail end of Blue Point falls here, creating a snow-blanketed field on the moon’s otherwise barren, rocky surface. It would be beautiful, if not for the occasional hailstorms, where daggers of ice the size of telephone poles fall from the sky. CZ33 is declared off-limits to everyone except ITF personnel and, since Tymar’s water is considered ITF property, even stealing snow from here is considered a criminal offense. It used to be a populated colony before the activation of Blue Point and some pirates and resistance groups still hide out in the ruins.

Raft Cities: Floating ghettos, made by lashing old ships together, via ropes, chains, or any scrap they have on hand. These junk towns serve as a refuge for the poor, a quarantine for the sick, and dens of crime and violence. Floating cities have been a part of Tymari history for thousands of years, but their numbers increased exponentially after the ITF's arrival. The construction of the domes and water extractors displaced millions of Tymari families, many of whom couldn't afford to simply move elsewhere. The rafts are always expanding and changing. Old, rusting ships are cut away when they are no longer seaworthy and replaced.

The Bhetari Trench The deepest depths of Tymar’s seas. From space, it looks like a dark blue scar cutting across the planet’s western hemisphere. Very little is known about what lies there, as it was only ever seen by the now-defunct House Bhetar. Some Tymari regard the Trench as holy ground, where their goddess, Syrenna, lies in wait, or as an afterlife where she claims the souls of those lost at sea. Some have prophesized that the apocalypse will come when a great leviathan rises from the trench to devour the stars.

Notable People:
Morrigan Edelgaard: 63, Urzigan, female. ITF general in charge of operations on Tymar. Former spec ops commander and Valkyrie (Urzigan elite royal guard). Captains the flagship, DE98 Valkyr. Current residence and base of operations: Blue Point. Has assumed direct control of Tymar operations since Mechka’s assassination.

Sauphira Indira Aurelia: 36, Tymari, female. Terrorist, resistance operative, insurrectionist, and cult leader. A self-professed “Syren,” oracle and warrior of Syrenna, goddess of the seas. Wanted for numerous crimes against humanity (literally). ITF codename, “Swordfish.”

Garret Maxxon: 45, human, male. ITF commander and former spymaster in charge of intelligence gathering on Tymar and its supporting systems. Captains the dreadnought AGX42 Valor. Last known assignment: track Sauphira’s movements on Fiiros, observe and report.

Bjorn Mechka: 28, human, male, deceased. ITF commander in charge of population control. Often championed as the father of Blue Point and considers it his magnum opus. Was assassinated approximately one month ago by the pirate crew of the Titan.

High Lord Marak Illumaris: 43, Tymari, male. Current ruling official of Tymar. Through some clever political maneuvering and backroom deal-making he and his father aided the ITF’s takeover of Tymar and lifted House Illumar to power. Although the planet is ruled by council, House Illumar’s influence is undeniable.

Roschanna Silmaris: 29, Tymari, female. Former ITF intelligence agent and assassin. Defected to join the Titan crew. Member of House Silmaris a once-beloved noble house that has fallen from grace in recent years.

Technology:
(Work-in-Progress)

History:
(This section is still a work-in-progress)
I'm still working out the rise and fall of the seven houses and their respective roles in the ITF's takeover.

Seven Noble Houses of Tymar
Tymar, House of the Sun (Biggest, most powerful noble house. They brought everyone together about 2000 years ago and led Tymar into the Modern age.)

Illumar, the House of Shadows (Cunning, deceptive noble house. Gained power through espionage and assassination. Partnered with the ITF when they arrived about 200 years ago and are now the ruling power on Tymar)

Silmar, the House of Rain (The house of diplomacy. At its peak, they were thee wealthiest noble house and were usually called upon to mediate disputes between other houses. Known for their impartiality and neutrality. They controlled Tymar's treasury).

Aurelis, The House of Blood (Warrior House. They were once the mightiest, but fell from power when House Tymar brought the others together. Aurelis entered a pact with House Silmar, becoming the defense branch of the modern government.)

Quaelis, House of the Scholar (Pacifists and disciples of knowledge and religion. They are most known for creating the first library (Which is harder than you think, on a waterworld) and recording most of Tymar's history. Their name lives on in a lot of Tymar's academies and universities.)

Nyssus, House of the Fang (Savages and cannibals, mostly hunted into extinction during the Unification Era, though some pirates and bandits still fly the Nyssus banner. Their fighting style and ideology lives on, though their bloodline is likely long gone.)

Bhetar, House of the Deep (Nomads and explorers, and devout worshippers of Syrenna, the goddess of the sea. More of a cult than a true noble house. They built shrines and temples in the abyssal depths and moved deeper and deeper. They are believed to either be extinct or in hiding.)
