The pamphlet was accurate, for the most part. Montgomery Academy certainly was prestigious, with endless resources and pristine facilities sustained by the ungodly tuition and generous donations from donors. From the outside, the large, sprawling campus is a gorgeous sight. Behind iron gates, with buildings inspired by Gothic architecture, the main academic buildings and dormitories are well-maintained, the insides of smooth dark wood floors and endless, confusing hallways. The academy prides itself on the wide variety of extracurriculars it offers; common and uncommon sports from basketball and lacrosse to squash and crew, to enriching visual and performing arts programs, to the many unique student-run clubs and groups. At the very top of this hierarchy is The Love Club, the most wanted, sought after, and well known club at Montgomery Academy.
What exactly is The Love Club? Nobody is truly certain. Its members only offer unhelpful, fleeting answers. Most assume it’s a title of status; once you have been accepted into The Love Club, you can proudly hold your head up high and look down upon the rest of the student body. The clique consists of the most popular students within the institute. Whether they are revered by the rest of the student body for their academics, looks, or even legacy status from their parents, they are ordinary until they've been allowed to join.
At the end of each school year, The Love Club hosts a massive farewell party to celebrate the graduation of its senior members. Being invited to this party is a rite of passage for new underclassmen, but nonetheless, most attend and enjoy their first night of summer vacation. This year, The students have their typical fun, partying in the swimming pool facility, until a Love Club member is found floating face down, dead in the water.
And the chaos begins.

Hello there, welcome to our interest check for a murder-mystery, dark academia roleplay. If this seems a bit familiar, don't fret! This is a reboot from a roleplay I did in late 2019 - early 2020 that I decided I'd love to give another go, this time alongside my good friend Baird. If we've caught your interest, please read our rules below and post your interest as well. Thanks!
01. Obviously, please follow all RPN rules. Being kind, courteous, and respectful helps us make a great group roleplay together. Please be aware this roleplay will include: murder, themes of classicism/elitism, dark academia, idolization, and romance. You must be 16+ to join.
02. GMs. This roleplay will be GMed by both
timshel
and I, so know that whatever either of us says, goes. Their word is law just as much as mine is.
03. Literacy. This will be what most would consider a 'literate/advanced' roleplay, where I expect good grammar, literacy, and 500+ word count multi-paragraph replies. I'm not super harsh on this rule, inspiration comes and goes in waves. So I don't expect walls of purple prose; as long as we keep things fun and moving along, I'm happy. No one-liner replies.
04. Activity. The world has gone a bit crazy as of late, so I understand that not everybody can be on daily. Once the roleplay has started, as long as you reply once a week, that's sufficient. We'd love to see applicants who will be active in the server as well.
05. Joining. This roleplay is not first come first served, but instead will be application based. Once applications close, Baird and I will be considering which characters will fit best for this plot. We're looking for around eight to ten people. Please only use real face claims for your characters. No anime or cartoon-ish face claims.
06. Discord. Please know that a Discord server will be made once our cast is chosen. Personally, we both find it really great to have a server for easy OOC chatting and convenient plotting. Be aware of this if you’re interested in joining!

The Love Club is Montgomery Academy's most elite clique in school history: its members are quite literally school royalty. Whether you are well liked, the top of your class, or even from an exceptionally rich or famous family, once you have been accepted into the Love Club, you are now at the top of the top, and everybody in school will know your face.
Since its creation, rumors of the club have stirred and spread throughout the school. What is the club about? Most answers are quite vague, but its members certainly are everywhere; the club plans and co-hosts events and dances with Student Council, shows their support at every sports home game, and club members are certainly allowed to join whatever other club they so choose.
Entry into the Love Club is another monumental task on its own, for most of the student body. Each member seems to be in another league entirely, coming from families of old and new money alike, fame and talent, and power. It makes one think — it almost seems like destiny, how things have fallen into place for the club members. Perhaps it's due to their parents pulling the strings, setting their children up for success. It beckons the question: do the members truly have control over their lives and success? Only time will tell.
This roleplay will explore the whirlwind that is the lives of the Love Club members, and subsequently the investigation and craziness that comes with a member's death. Were they killed by a fellow member? A secret, jealous admirer? Or, simply the victim of a freak accident? Nonetheless, the Love Club is now cast into the spotlight, brighter than ever before.
