Fantasy The Guild Stone ((Old OOC))

When Dinner Fights Back Excuse me, traveler. We're in dire need of your help. We've been under constant attack and none of our efforts to retaliate have paid of. They sees us coming from afar, so it's time for new tactics. Hero, I need you and a small group of capable fighters to infiltrate the cove during the cover of the night. Destroy those vile crabs and all they stand for.

Tread carefully, something heinous lies within. Try to take down as many of the dastardly crustaceans as possible and you will be well rewarded. Ensure they never pose a threat to us again.
Reward: 5000 Gold

Frickin spot on.

But what if... there were an ARMY OF KNIFE CRABS

Elias got jumped by a bunch of crabs with stabby stabs in such a fast pace he only saw one

For your consideration: there was only one, but it came from a cave of truly vile nature, it's spirit so twisted it refused to die and fought back against being made into one of Elias's famous stews. It was then Azalea recalled a complaint she had received. Of a cave of crabs with something evil lurking within--one she thought was a joke.

Fearing for what it may conceal, she feels it best to have a gold rank come along.

The gameplay trailer advertised stabby crab. I intend to deliver

(if you want you can set it up in Elias's next post. Have him make a crab plate only to be attacked. That will let Azalea recall the request and she can take it from there)

POV: You saw the Guild cook get mugged by a crab with a knife in broad daylight.

I am completely speechless right now... Although tempting...

I’ll answer that tomorrow! ^_^

Now if Ymir and Leonidas by some miracle still get Sapphire to join them they can go on a crab extermination spree and dance to crab rave after lmao

Ahahah. Unfortunately, despite Elias's fervent insistence the quest is absolutely gold rank or above, Azalea has decided to class it as silver. The nature of the cove is cause for concern, but there has been no mention of a gold rank monster, or the large amount of silver ones that would be required for such a ranking.

Side concept: crabs with transform affinity on their claws

Considering Ymir and Leo both specialise in non-combat abilities, I am concerned it might be the other way round. Perhaps he could try reciting poetry to calm them down...

Leo does still have his unshown air affinity combat, although I can tell you it consists of basically only a single move. So if the crabs can survive that and are too dumb to listen to poetry then yea we might end up being the ones that get crab raved on

Incorrect, that sounds horrible.

Also Ymir's introductory quest was dealing with a blood-thirsty rabbit infestation, followed by another one hunting boars. Ninety percent sure at this stage she either takes quests to explore, or because there's a possibility of getting food out of it. She's also air affinity btw. Usually yeets enemies into the sky and hopes they splatter upon reunion with the ground, but not very creative outside that. So they have two (2) options, otherwise death by crab is seeming more and more probable

Leo's air affinity fighting style is using his sword as an aiming aid to shoot air bullets, as for if the crabs can survive those, it would depend on the crab. Death by crab sounds horrible to me as well but Leo would probably prefer 'Death by crab' on his gravestone compared to 'Mugged and stabbed to death'

I was thinking of potentially creating a second character if I find I have enough time on my hands. And to that end, I was wondering if a specialized affinity in string magic would be okay? It would allow for complete control over small animals to the point of sharing senses with them to a degree within a set range, so basically a magic marionettist. As for humans the most it would be able to do is restrict them for small periods of time and slightly control the movements of non-story important characters because of power scaling. I'm a bit torn between it being too strong or not so would love to hear what you think.

I was interested in bringing a couple of characters in 👀 A brooding beast-hunter and a kid whose affinity lets him cancel out the effects of magic. Just wanted to make a note so I don't surprise people haha

Sylph Sylph After careful consideration through the process of my slumber. Yes, let’s get this bread crab quest on the road since we are already here.

Hey hey, welcome to the thread! A beast hunter sounds cool. I'd allow the magic cancellation ability for the kid on the condition it's involuntary, and doesn't permanently erase stuff like enchantments, just stops them working while in contact.

Unfortunately magic is intrinsically tied to the affinities. A character without affinities wouldn't be able to use magic at all, but thank you for asking!

A marionettist sounds cool! I don't think it would be too overpowered, though if they were sharing senses with animals I'd say that would make their main body immobile/vulnerable. I look forward to seeing them if you decide to go through with it.

Whoot whoot! You may need to bring Elias along (maybe he has enough of a vendetta to take up the spear), otherwise these two idiots are going to get themselves killed (ㆆᴗㆆ)
