Gunhild sighed, having hoped things would've went much better than how they actually transpired out to be. Staying at the Caelia Barony and doing nothing all day would've proved much better than whatever mess of a performance said quest turned out to be. Hearing that they wanted to arrest them based purely on suspicion alone, Gunhild only hoped that somehow they were able to convince that it was not their fault, perhaps even hoping that the priests and priestesses who worked at the Church would be able to vouch for them in said regard. Understanding that the trouble of the entire ordeal was caused none other than a singular self-destructive pyromaniac named Jura, the big lizard silently thought to themselves that it was probable Gunhild would be the true responsibility for his death if they were to cross again. For now, it wasn't a plausible option to give him the punishment that was truly deserved.

Since there was no safe way to get out of the situation other than committing to just being arrested until they could be questioned, Gunhild ended up going along with it passively just to try and make things go past faster in hopes that any trouble or false blame could be cleared up before it was problematic.

Aurae looked around as the hunters seemed to at least ponder the idea that what she was saying was true. After a moment, though, it didn't seem like it was going to be enough to at least let them go and take Jura. As the hunters spoke up, she let out a small sigh, though she knew that it wouldn't be a good idea to resist as it would just cause more problems. "Just ask the priestess at the temple, she was around for the whole thing," Aurae pointed out or at least attempted to to the hunters as they were taken away along with the retainers following in heel. There really wasn't much they could do at this point other than wait and see what was going to happen. Though if there was one thing she hoped that Jura was going to rot in a cell if nothing else.

Marinka attempted to follow Keircey to the meetup spot, opting to stand on the sidelines and see how the rest of their teammates were faring. Judging by the smoke and the brief commission in the inn earlier, it probably wasn’t good. She got sidetracked easily, when more hunters filled the streets to see what commission was happening. Marinka sighed, with the way things were going now she doubted much of the party was still intact to be able to complete the quest. She opted to try and find one of the guards at least, ask around, try to see if she could remedy the situation as best as she could. She didn’t want to give up on the quest just yet.

She saw one of the hunters nearby, one that probably seemed more well clad in armor than the others. “Excuse me, do you happen to know where they’re taking those captives?”

Lingrifin

As the town of Lingrifin began to recover from the chaos, the fate of the adventurers unfolded in a series of events marked by frustration and delayed justice.

Keircey managed to slip away from the town unnoticed. The commotion surrounding the fire and the subsequent arrests had diverted attention, allowing him to leave without incident. His departure was swift and silent, blending into the background as the town grappled with the aftermath of the fire.

Meanwhile, Gunhild's hopes for a quick resolution were dashed. The church staff, overwhelmed with tending to the burnt church and attending to injured parishioners, had no time to vouch for the party's innocence. Gunhild, along with Aurae and the others, found themselves caught in a web of suspicion and bureaucratic delay.

Marinka, in her attempt to locate and aid her companions, inadvertently sealed her own fate. Upon inquiring about the arrested party members, her association with them was quickly uncovered, leading to her own arrest. Despite her intentions, Marinka became another piece in the puzzle the town was desperately trying to solve.

The situation for the adventurers grew increasingly complicated. Although it was soon confirmed through appraisal by some of the hunters that Jura was indeed the arsonist, proving the rest of the party's non-allegiance to him proved more challenging. Jura, unconscious and wounded, offered no defense or explanation, leaving his companions in a precarious position. They were forced to wait, their fate hanging in the balance.

As days passed, Marinka's conversations with a few hunters had surprising consequences. The intervention of Hunter Garrick and Old Marn, who vouched for the party's original intent of undertaking a quest unrelated to vandalism, finally swayed the town's judgment. Their testimonies of Marinka's inquiries, gradually unraveled the truth. The party was eventually released from custody, their names cleared but not without the cost of precious time and a tarnished reputation.

Jura's fate was less fortunate. Locked up and given only minimal care to keep him alive, he eventually healed enough to move on his own. Deemed harmless without his catalyst and barred from using the portal system due to his criminal actions, Jura was unceremoniously expelled from Lingrifin.

When the party finally reported back to the alchemist about the complications they encountered, they were met with disappointment and reprimand. The alchemist, having already hired another group to complete the task, expressed his doubts about the party's capabilities. "I suppose this is what I get for trying to save a few rykes hiring lower quality adventurers," he lamented, his words laced with regret and frustration. His decision to hire the party, now seen as a misguided decision, had backfired, leaving him to question his own judgment.

The adventure, which had begun with promise and excitement, ended in a lesson of hard truths about the unpredictable nature of quests and the importance of reputation in the world of adventuring.

Some adventures start off promising and take a nose dive. Some adventures start rough but sail above prior expectations. This one started rough and ended rough. Ultimately some characters can become lit matches in a munitions storage. Good job those that made it to the end and kept posting. A great learning experience in an early adventurer career.

Aftermath
Lingrifin quickly recovered from the fire.
