Silanon Silanon Go ahead and give your character both Language and Literacy for the Zentraedi language without any worries there. It doesn't make any sense to me that you wouldn't know how to speak your native tongue.

MrSaturnUL MrSaturnUL and LunarArt1 LunarArt1 We have a couple of people picking the Alpha Fighter as their mecha of choice, but so far, no one has picked the Beta Fighter yet. If all of you want the Alpha, that is fine, but the Beta does have some good things going for it, especially its high top speed. The Beta can connect to the rear of the Alpha, making a much bigger and faster fighter, giving you transatmospheric capability.

So now we have LunarArt1 going with the medic. MrSaturnUL, if you want to do something different than the others, there is the Military Specialist option, or the Technical Officer with a different MOS package, like the Communications Officer or Science Officer. If you want to try a different combat OCC, there is the STORM Commando in the UEEF Marines Sourcebook.

If you look at the Lore tab, I just added a quick description of the combat system that I'll be using here. It shows how your multiple attacks work.

A bit of advice for you guys for your characters. Take one of your skill slots and pick Boxing. It is a great skill that adds one extra melee action/attack per round, and you'll quickly learn that there is never enough actions in combat. Especially when Dodging uses up one every time you try it.

If you can squeeze it out, upgrade your HtH skill to get one of the Advanced Martial Art styles. All of them add to your Attributes, and they give some good combat bonuses. In my opinion, they are worth the cost.

Hi there! Almost expected that the scent of another Robotech game could get your attention - here to throw your hat into the ring once again?

I do apologize for my noobishness, all.... If it's not too much, are there any sites or such that I can use to familiarize myself with this?

There are plenty of fan sites for the Robotech and Macross series that are out there. I just don't know where to look. I grew up with the series, and when the game came out, I jumped on it with both feet.

That I am!

I'm a noob too! Self proclaimed, despite that I should know better by now. We can noob together!

I love me some alphas.

But the Beta has some heavy weaponry on it, correct? Lots of missiles iirc.

The Beta comes with bombs, and speed. Not as much maneuverability, but a great Veritech nonetheless. When in space, I'm pretty much constantly switching between the two. So this time, it's the Alpha, next time it's probably nice, big explosions again.

I like nice big explosions. I'm thinking I might play on a character from an earlier game with Sherwood.

I had a meek little recon pilot, and I could easily fit her into a communications role. Funny to me given her not very well developed social skills.

Or i could play her more bombastic sister, who was a beta pilot.

The stats are IQ, Mental endurance and affinity; Physical strength, prowess, endurance, beauty; and speed. To those, you assign the eight values you have - depending on them, you get certain bonuses. Physical Prowess, for instance, gives you better aim and lets you dodge and parry better, which is why both Sherwood's and my combat character have a high value there. Depending on the character class, there might be some restrictions - for instance, you need some amount of intelligence to become a medic.

So, what are the stats? Or how to build a character?
You have two options on getting your Attributes determined. One, you can roll here using the dice bot on the site. You roll 4d6, taking the top three numbers. If they are between 16-18, you get to roll another d6. If that one is a '6' you get to add another d6 to your roll. So if you get lucky enough to max out, you might be able to get a 30 starting out.

Two, I can roll my own dice for you and let you know what I get.

Also, I can help make characters for you if you'd like. Just let me know what kind of character you want to play, and I can whip it up for you quick-like.

Hey boss! What sort of things do you need/expect of a science officer and technical officer?

On pg 200 of the Shadow Chronicles book, there is the Attribute chart that goes into detail on what each stat gives you with a high roll.

Well, you are dealing with alien races that Humanity has never encountered before, so any Xenobiology skills or technical skills to be able to understand alien technology will be quite useful.

Sounds fun!

Is there a specific bit in Invid biology? Or will I be expected to BS my way into saying things that sounds realistic?

Because I'm pretty adept at the latter.

Nothing specifically about the Invid, but at this point in the game, you have not run into them yet. I will let you start out with Lore: Invid and Lore: Robotech Masters, because you could have learned about them from the loyal Zentraedi forces traveling with the Fleet.

I meant like for me to draw from in terms of speaking out observations when I dissect them and pull the soft fleshy bits from their mechanical shells.

I'm okay with her just not knowing anything more about them than there might be something the masters talked about. Then find out more about them the fun and messy way.

I'm thinking of taking the Command Officer or Helmsman MOS. Will we be able to do much with Starships or only mecha combat?

I can arrange to have some starship action for you.
Psychie Psychie

For attributes, do call each roll for the stat we want, or do we roll attribute numbers then assign them as we want?
As long as you are playing a human, you can assign them as you wish. The Zentraedi have different die rolls for each stat, so those are not as flexible.
