There are a few skills listed in the back of the Macross Saga book, and they are available for all.

I think that there might be a handful of skills in the Masters Saga, too.

I'm almost done with my character. I just need to come up with a cool callsign for him.

The random word generator gives the following options: doctor, throat, bushes, slave, theory. Hope that helps =)

Don't have access to the Macross/Master saga books right now - a helpful someone typed down the description for the Combat Flying for me, so I've got that one covered; I'll just take a look at Sherwoods sheet and see if there's something I'm missing.

I am still debating on if I should go with the extra skills from the Jack of all Trades, or go with the Quick Reflexes one for the +1 Attack.

As much as I want the skills, I am thinking that it really doesn't fit the image I'm developing for my character. I'll make the switch to the Quick Reflexes one.

Not a problem. If we are in need of a squad communications specialist, I can add one in as an NPC.

There's always the Trove. Not that I'd ordinarily promote PDF sharing but given you can't buy them anymore...

Oh Sherwood, you know my eternal torment.

On one hand: Robotech!
On the other hand: Mental insecurity at popping on RPN only to realize there's been 32 posts and I've no idea what's going on. :) Which is entirely my own fault, hence the insecurity.

If you'll have me, I might give it a day or so to see what kind of characters other folks are playing while I work out what I can do with my schedule.

Epiphany Epiphany I'm aware of the site, but tend to avoid it whenever possible - thanks for mentioning it, though. Would be great to have you aboard as well, if you can find the room in your schedule.

I'll see if I can get a character done today - since I just worked my way through most of the skills for another rp, it should be easier this time around. Are the characters required to know each other prior to the story's beginning, or do you prefer mostly strangers? Also: That's three names I'm mostly unfamiliar with, I think - glad to meet you, folks, come on in and share your thoughts =)

And one more thing (well, two, but it was on when I started typing): In other games I was in, stats for skills were allowed to be higher than 100% - when you roll, you still fail at 99 or 100, but it makes it so that if conditions make the roll worse (let's say a -15 on a roll for whatever reason), that additional expertise that you should get with additional levels does not go to waste. I've got the IQ of a light bulb, so I won't get there for a while, but it'd be interesting how you want to handle things, Psychie Psychie .

Apart from that: On the lore page, there are two ships named 'Ajax'. Now assuming they're named after the two heroes from the Trojan War, which one's named after the sheep slaughterer?

Edit: About the MA's: Is it possible to upgrade HtH: Expert to HtH: MA with one skill, or do you need to buy the whole package for 3 skill points? I'm used to the former, but I don't know if that's in the official rules, or a house rule.

I missed that when I was naming ships. Thanks for catching that.

It takes one skill beyond HtH Martial Arts to get to the advanced styles.[/QUOTE]

You can start out knowing each other from training or be strangers, with only having seen the other person in passing but not knowing them.

That doesn't quite answer my question - think I wrote that in a weird way, sorry. What I meant is the following: From the occ, I get HtH Expert. So when I pick up Krav Maga, does that cost me 2 skill slots (one for Expert -> Martial Arts, one for Martial Arts -> Krav Maga as you mentioned), or do I need to buy HtH: Martial Arts for three skill points, then upgrade it with a fourth skill? Or in other words: Can HtH: Expert be upgraded to HtH Martial Arts with an additional skill?

As for the rest of the character creation: I'm pretty much out of skills as soon as I've picked up the remaining essentials, so it shouldn't take too long to finish things.

Edit: Sherwood's character sheet suggests that I can, indeed, upgrade from HtH Expert to HtH Martial Arts. That's what I expected, I just can't find it in the rules.

Oh, I got you. It is one skill to upgrade from Expert to Martial Arts, then one more beyond that to get the Krav Maga. Does that help?

It is in the book somewhere that each step up costs one skill to get to.

It is a system that I've seen Sherwood use in some of his games. Lets go ahead and record all the bonuses above 98%.
