Battle with the Admin
Both Jay and Flint watched in silence as the scene unfolded before them, the crude appendage rising from the ground like some disembodied hand from the world beyond; a pristine premier ball clutched firmly in its ethereal grasp. Without saying so much as a word, the pair had already begun to feel their nerves tense as the garish scene continued; the serpentine form of Drakloak appearing amidst the flash of red light.

"Get ready" muttered Jay, talking aloud to those in close vicinity as he tried to calm the nerves. All things considering, it seemed pretty normal that he was feeling the heebie-jeebies standing before the ghost pokemon; the supernaturally cold air that had permeated the area around them causing his spine to tingle ever so slightly. Before getting the chance to launch the first attack; the Drakloak had taken the privilege, its tail glowing as its inner power began to grow.

"Dodge it!" shouted Jay, eyes focused on the oncoming attack as the adrenaline began to course through his veins; the excitement of battle gripping at his heart. Already his mind was beginning to race with various strategies and counters, factoring the limited knowledge he knew about their opponent before them as well as what he could deduce from what had already been revealed. Jay glanced down to his second Pokeball, a possible solution to their predicament nestled inside of it; though even that would be a risky bet.

Eyes darting down towards Flint, Jay watched as the simian pokemon leapt out of the way in time; coming to a stop several yards away from where he originally stood; beating his chest with both fists as he challenged the opponent before them.

"Any idea's Lili?!" called Jay, not once tearing his gaze away from the ongoing fight in front of them. "I'm all open right now, cause I've got nothing"

"I might have," Lilinoe replied as she warily eyed the ghostly drake. It was a pokemon she is unfamiliar with, but she can make a guess. Ghost-type based on how it hung weightlessly in the air, its movement through the air distorts it as if the air itself is unsure whether it is physically there or not. Dragon-type is a huge maybe, a lot of pokemon have the reptilian visage without the typing.

Her Salandit had dodged the first attack thanks to Jay's timely warning, not one to take an attack silently, she launched a ball of fire in retaliation. It wasn't as powerful as it should be with how quickly she had gotten it ready, nevertheless, it was merely one of many she used in the ensuing battle. Each fireball detonated, sending sparks of smaller ember in their wake.

There were many moves in Lilinoe's mind that Kini can use against the ghost. Sweet scent can slow it to allow for a hit or more time to dodge. Poison gas is always good to weaken their opponent and set up for their trump card. The rest of Kini's moves are normal ranged attack. "Kini needs to poison it," she replied after a moment, then added, "she can slow it too at the same time, make sure to get out of range."

“Poison huh?” muttered Jay inwardly as he glanced down towards Hendrix’s Pokeball; concerns raised regarding the Toxel’s motivation before quickly returning his attention to the fight before them. All the while Lili’s companion had taken the initiative; peppering the opposing pokemon from afar, whilst Flint remained rooted to his spot, unable to aid in the ranged combat yet keen to get up close and personal with the Drakloak.

“Flint… this is going to be like that time with the Ursaring all over again” shouted Jay, Flint’s beating of the chest slowing down ever so slightly as he recalled their time at Nimbos forest. “Keep your distance and wait for the right time to strike.”

Sighing the chimp complied.

“Ho, not bad.” Levi mused as the attack was dodged. He stuffed his hands in his coat pockets, watching pokemon and trainer alike. His focus centered on Salandit as she began hurling flame burst after flame burst. “Pokemon can have good instincts, balancing between who’s in command is important.”

“Dreee!” A small shriek cut through the air as the little Dreepy was knocked from its perch by one of the bursts. Dreepy scurried into a bank of powdery snow, peering out after a moment.

“Ah… perhaps I should have held off on the-” Levi’s musings were cut off by Drakloak’s enraged roar. Vex gave the Salandit a venomous glare before diving into the Admin’s shadow and vanishing. The very air seemed heavy with malice.

Lilinoe had allowed Kini to continue her assault as it worked well in keeping the ghost busy while she talked to Jay, but it ended the moment their opponent screeched in rage. "It is protective of the little one," she murmured. It brought out a little dark thought in the back of her mind for a moment. She never gave it a chance to form as she issued her own command.

Kini crouched low to the ground when her opponent vanished. Silence hung in the air as chill continued to intensify. She hissed, low, as her head darted this way and that, trying to find sign of her foe.

"Kini! Flush it out with Double Debuff!" Lilinoe shouted out, her order rang clear. She saw an opportunity and took it. She mustn't hesitate or her own fear will spring out again.

Ever since she encountered the admin, standing by his lonesome without a single apparent backup; it alarmed her something fierce. The chills, the second pokemon hiding in his shadow and the admin's utter lack of concern. This was not a battle where she could hide her trump card for the last moment.

Her lifelong partner knew what to do like always. Kini spewed forth pink smoke from indent on her back. She made much of it that her form was obscured within. Thick and cloyingly sweet. A scent that was not only attractive to pokemon, it lulled them into a trance. She didn't stop there as a tint of deadly dark particles mixed into the smoke, masked by the sweet scent.

Jay watched as Lili’s partner continued to assault the Drakloak, the reptilian pokemon spewing pink smoke from her back as they took the initiative and fought back. Meanwhile, Jay and Flint could not help but feel agitated at their current uselessness to the whole situation. On one end, Flint’s lack of ranged capabilities left him limited in his opportunities to attack. He’d either get in the way of Lili and Kini’s combination or simply be overpowered by the dragon pokemon.

For now, their only real option was to sit and wait. Wait for the right opportunity to attack.

As the Salandit scattered her attack, her shadow would start to twist and darken. Drakloak shot up, trying to slam her head into the other Pokémon’s chest and knock it skyward. She shook her head slightly in the heavily perfumed air, it would likely be a moment before they could tell if the poison set in or not.

Phantom Force

“You may as well follow up,” Levi called out, “mmm, why not dragon tail?”

Vex’s tail glowed a dark purple before lashing out at the Salandit a second time, looking to send her crashing into the cliffs beside Flint. While it wouldn’t knock her out, the blow would definitely leave her stunned for a few moments. “I suppose I should give you two a hint. Drakloak, what my little Vex is, are dragons reborn as ghosts.” He shrugged, focused more on the ground than the fight before him.

The dragon's attack was executed successfully, giving the sign that sweet scent won't affect it more than a slight distraction. "I should have known it won't be so easy," Lilinoe sighed. Here's hoping the poison set in at least or she could repeat it just to be sure if the ghost didn't show any sign of it.

"That is very nice of you," Lilinoe replied dryly. It was helpful in that neither fire nor poison would work very well.

Kini was still recovering from the attack, their strength and subsequent collision had been powerful enough to leave her reeling. Lilinoe estimated that she won't be able to another one or two of such an attack.

Lilinoe turned to Jay, "Jay?" Her words carried expectations. Where is that fire she had seen at the beginning?

“Fuck!” shouted Jay, clenching his fist as he watched on helplessly as Salandit took the brunt of the attack, the young reptilian pokemon sent flying backward into the cliff next to where Flint had been; the simian getting increasingly frustrated with his lack of action thus far in the fight. Whilst Jay appeared to lack the fire of battle, Flint surely made up for it with the glowing ember in his eyes, the fighter eager to step into the ring with a worthy adversary in Drakloak. Like David versus Goliath, it was clear that Flint held the belief that he could stand up to the behemoth before them and put up a fight if only his trainer would man up and give him the go-ahead.

Jay for all his ‘gung-ho’ during the build-up to this fight had fallen into the novice trap of ‘overthinking’ things, the boy attempting to deviate from what he was so confident in. Thinking, strategizing and being tactical were rarely tools he chose to employ, instead of being a straightforward and instinctual fighter, improvising as the battle progressed rather than relying on a set strategy. Clearly from the beginning, there was only one option for the pair and that was to get up close and personal with the Draconian pokemon before them.

“Flint, let’s do this!” shouted Jay, slapping either cheek as he refocused himself to the problem at hand, his change in demeanor resonating with Flint as the pokemon raised both hands in approval. “Get in close and watch out for its attacks.. Especially that tail!” Flint gave the thumbs up and began to charge forward. “Just like it was with that rampaging Ursaring, we are gonna stay low and strike!” Jay continued to shout, the confidence in his voice brushing away any signs of nerves he once had, Flint meanwhile angled his body forward and lowered his center of gravity as he closed in on Drakloak, steam already appearing to radiate off both its fists as he readied himself for what he knew was next.

“Don’t give it a chance to even breath! FIRE PUNCHES!” roared Jay,

Flint now closer to Drakloak had both fists fully engulfed in flames as he rushed forward.

“Ho, would seem someone finally regained their confidence,” Levi noted, still scanning the snow for something. “Well if it’s up close and personal he wants, why don’t you rush to meet him?”

Drakloak roared in agreement, still riled up from her Dreepy being hit. Her body glowed brightly for a moment, enveloped in blue light as she rushed in to meet Flint's attack head-on. Malice poured from the shroud.

Dragon Rush

“Ah, there you are!” Levi stooped over a pile of snow, eliciting an excited “Dree!” as the little Dreepy flew up into his sleeve for shelter.

“Full Power Flint!” commanded Jay, his eyes fixed upon the oncoming Drakloak; the blue glow of the dragon complementing the white snow of their surroundings. If it was a head-on collision that Levi wanted, then so be it. This was only ever going to be an up-close and personal sluggerfest, it was easier if the opponent came to them.

“Chim!” Flint replied, his voice audible over the noise of combat all around them. Almost instantly, the fire engulfing both his fist began to grow in size, spurned on by Flint’s ‘Iron Fist ability’, the orange flame rapidly transitioned into a fiery red blaze causing the surrounding snow to melt around them. Adrenaline coursing through the veins of both trainer and pokemon; neither of them could resist smiling as the heat of battle overwhelmed them.

“No mercy Flint! Aim for the face! A quick one-two!” roared Jay, Chimchar spewing flickers of flame as he too roared in unison. Collision was imminent.

Drakloak made no attempt to swerve away from the incoming blow, already intent on making sure her own tackle landed. The two pokemon clashed in an explosion of fire and draconic energy, Vex’s head snapping back in a snarl from the punch. A dark mist poured from her mouth, surrounding Flint and extinguishing the flames on his fists before the second punch could land. The now normal punch phased right through his opponent.

The loud explosion of both sound and light had caused Jay to flinch, his left arm rising to cover his gaze from the assault to his eyes, the resulting shockwave also causing his clothes to flutter against the rushing wind. It seemed that their power had been close to equal, the two pokemon clashing in their head-on challenge; Flint’s ability giving him a feasible chance against the Drakloak, though of course things were never that easy as the victory cry from Chimchar was soon cut off, a look of anguish spreading across his face as the fear of the unknown took grip of him. Just like Flint had access to ‘Iron Fist’, Drakloak too had access to its own ability.

Having never faced this kind of opponent before, their lack of knowledge on the opponent had left them rather vulnerable to surprises, surprises like the dark ominous mist that poured out of the mouth of the dragon pokemon; the apparently sentient aura circling the simian before fully engulfing it in its abyssal entirety, the dark smoke extinguishing the second flame that Chimchar had grown on his left fist. The fire gone, Chimchar and Jay could not help but feel the cold grasp of despair creeping up upon them.

Jay and Flint glanced over to their allies. Hopefully, they had bought enough time for Lili and Kini to recover and more importantly, allowed Akira to slip by unnoticed.

Jay had taken over which allowed Lilinoe to check up on her Salandit. She had originally planned to give support fire, but it ended up with Kini engaging Drakloak on her own. That was a tense situation for her as she wasn't sure whether Kini could present herself as enough threat to occupy Drakloak on her own. The pressure of what would happen if they failed weighed down on her mind. She didn't want to mess up.

"Are you alright?" asked Lilinoe in concern. "Sa!" Kini propped herself into crouching on her hind legs, still half-buried in the snow that had fallen along when she impacted the cliff. A crack was marring the cliff above them and snow had piled precariously far above. They were fighting a dragon in ice chasm. An idea bloomed in her mind. If I can use it offensively, but how?

The Salandit took a deep breath, then expelled fire from her back that instantly melted any snow in her vicinity. She won't be bowing out until she was knocked out.

"Good," Lilinoe nodded in response to Kini's desire to continue. A glance back toward how Jay's faring made her transfixed for a moment to the scene of Chimchar trading blows with the dragon. For a pokemon in its first evolution, Chimchar packed quite a punch. Maybe they won't need her half-baked idea, but just in case. "Listen. I may need you to draw Drakloak’s attention," she began. "See that crack?" she pointed upward. "I want you to make that Drakloak to physically attack that spot if the opportunity came up."

"For now, let's help them," Lilinoe would have Kini ran up toward the battle, while she returned to stand near her teammates, Jay. She was only halfway there when she witnessed Chimchar being engulfed in dark mist, smothering the pokemon's fire punch. What? she wasn't sure what happened as she caught only the tail end of it. Though from how Chimchar had appeared to have its fighting spirit extinguished along, it had lost use of it. "Kini!" she called, her tone of urgency made the Salandit run faster. Both Jay and his pokemon looked to her direction with the Drakloak free to attack. "Prepare to intercept!" A further order was given out.

“Fire Punch! Again!” commanded Jay, though his voice wavered this time as he failed to shake off the uneasy feeling that had gripped him. Unfortunately, his concerns were proven correct as the fire failed to materialize on either fist, an invisible force preventing Flint from controlling his innate affinity of fire. “Flint...! Come on! Fire Punch!” urged Jay, though the only reaction he received from Flint was the shake of his head and a worried expression.

“Lili!” called Jay, turning to face his battle partner. “I think that mist disabled Flint’s fire punch… keep an eye out for it” he advised, before turning to look at Hendrix’s Pokeball, not really eager to throw him into this battle. A dragon type was just a bit too much for the baby pokemon Toxel.

"That's.... quite a troublesome ability or move," Lilinoe replied. Regardless, they still needed to attack it.

Drakloak seemed to laugh as Flint tried in vain to reignite his fire punch. “You’d be correct,” Levi called, lightly scratching Dreepy’s chin. “Striking an opponent with a cursed body can be risky.” Though even he was slightly surprised to see the power come into play, the two of them usually had poor luck with it. “Let’s wrap this up, hm? Vex, dragon pulse.”

The dragon seemed content to comply, rearing her head back and loosing another beam of energy at Flint. A massive roar shook the chasm for an instant. Levi glanced over his shoulder in the direction it came from. Too deep and guttural for any pokemon he knew.

“Flint! Brace yourself!!” shouted Jay, knowing full well that dodging at this point was highly unlikely. Complying, Flint raised both arms in front of himself, bracing for the inevitable hit.

A loud bang sounded behind the admin, causing the dragon pulse to graze Flint instead of the direct hit it would have been. The artificial winds rapidly died down causing an eerie silence to rapidly take its place. “Oh, dear…” Levi looked over his shoulder at the smoking weather machine. Already mist was beginning to fill the chasm floor once again.

“Change of plan, Vex,” one of Levi’s earrings began to glow as he returned Drakloak to her Pokeball in a red beam. “You know, I was hoping to look for our dearly departed admin while I was here.” His shadow began to twist and writhe. “Wonder how many more I’ll need to keep an eye out for after today.”

His shadow started to cackle, arms of inky darkness coiling around the Admin’s body. Finally, the pokemon responsible emerged enough to be identified. Mega Gengar. “Maybe I’ll find you two as well? I hope not.” A short wave, “Ta-ta.”

Mega Gengar dragged Levi into his own shadow, the two vanishing altogether. The ghost’s laughter echoing all around the two trainers for a long moment before fading.

A Frozen Finale
Finally reaching the end of the chasm, Eric’s pace slowed at the mouth of the cave. This had to be Kyurem’s lair or at least led to it. Which meant the Blackleaf leader was bound to be inside as well. Freja slipped off his shoulders and onto the snow, warily taking in their surroundings. They’d gotten lucky beyond fighting off the older Wolfe in getting here unhindered.

Steeling himself, Eric pressed on, following the roar of battle further inside. It didn’t take long for the dark tunnel to open into a massive cavern. Light streamed in from the gaping hole in the ceiling and illuminated the raging battle below. Mansel and the Professor seemed too focused on their fight to notice the new trainer that looked on.

Machamp was coated in a viscous purple sludge as it charged its opponent, slamming Dragalge into a wall before briefly stumbling from the poison’s effects. It was hard to hear what the two were saying beyond Joshua’s barked orders. Eric gritted his teeth, “Come on…”

The Professor’s pokemon managed to recover as its trainer yelled for it to use close combat. Machamp rushed back into the fray and pummeled at Dragalge with a massive barrage of blows. But so many of them were missing.

Is it the poison? Eric wouldn’t admit it, but he didn’t know as much about pokemon as he probably should have.

Freja’s eyes narrowed as Mansel became engrossed in a phone call. She may not have been able to see his face clearly, but his aura… Shock gave way to simmering anger and jealousy.

Another crash snapped her out of her thoughts, Machamp had been blasted away by a dragon pulse.

Eric slowly shook his head, “I don’t get it, Machamp didn’t hit that pokemon at all…” It made no sense, for that many fast blows and so close.

“GO! GIGA IMPACT!” The professor’s voice was accompanied by the snap and flash of a flare.

“-CHAMP!” Exploding forward with a burst of power, Machamp slammed its legs and arms down, muscles bulging at every corner of its body as it took off in a dead sprint at Dragalge. Behind Machamp, ice crackled and strained, large sections of it flying in the air behind him as he ran, leaving meteors of ice raining across the battlefield from the sprint. Nearing Dragalge, Machamp tucked in all four of its shoulders, into a massive shoulder charge, slamming forward with a final rush at the pokemon to hit it with all of Machamp’s power.

It was almost satisfying to see the sudden panic wash over the Blackleaf leader as he tried to switch commands at the last second. Dragalge’s hyper beam was more of a flash of light than an attack as Machamp collided with it, the two pokemon crashing back into the wall.

Eric stumbled a few steps as the ground shook violently from impact. The sheer power between those two pokemon… it dwarfed anything his father’s pokemon could manage, even with the help of a mega stone or Z Moves. In several places around the cave, the ground began to give way in a torrent of ice and stone, sweeping both pokemon and their trainers away.

“PROFESSOR!” Eric’s shout had been the only thing to break the stillness of the cave once everything stopped moving. He moved to dive in after him, only for Freja to grab the hem of his coat. “What the hell!? We need to help them!”

She shook her head, looking back at the still crater. “Rio.” She could still sense the four of them, injured, but alive and moving. Already they were working their way out.

He blinked, following Freja’s gaze. “They’re already…?” Eric shook his head, why should that even surprise him? It was the professor they were talking about! Of course he’d be fine. The trainer realized his hands were shaking and clenched his fists. It had to be from the sheer cold around them. The air had only gotten colder as they stepped inside.

Another tug, “Rii.”

“Kyurem?” Eric straightened, scanning the crater for any sign of the ice dragon. “Is it still here?” They could easily get by now and help the legendary somehow.

Freja nodded, running down a side path, her trainer close behind. They didn’t have to travel far to find Kyurem collapsed in the snow. A low, rumbling growl brought the two skidding to a stop.

“Whoa,” Eric breathed. Despite living in Vera Valle his entire life, he’d never been face to face with an actual legendary like this before. Let alone one laid low. He slowly raised his hands, “Easy… I’m here to help.”

Kyurem remained unmoving, though never took its eyes off the trainer or pokemon. Even as weak as it was, the air still seemed heavy with power. Eric took a slow breath as he inched forward, sliding off his backpack to pull out any and all potions he could find. Grasping the first he could get his hand on, Eric held it up.

Only to be fact to face with a glowing silver sphere. “Crap.” Freja slammed into him with a quick attack, barely knocking them both out of the way of Kyurem’s ancient power. Red eyes warily glanced at the crater left in the cavern’s wall. “It’s just a potion,” Eric tried to fight off the stammer that had crept into his voice as he stood back up.

A low growl as he slowly held it out for the Legendary to see. “See? It’s not a Pokeball, it’ll help you.” He drew close enough to finally spray the medicine on one of the dragon’s injuries, scolding himself for flinching when it did too. Though he noticed the tension starting to leave Kyurem’s frame as the potion did its job. “You must’ve really been hurting…”

Bottle empty, Eric pulled out another, eliciting a new warning growl before Kyurem could see what it was. The trainer used up every potion in his bag without a second thought, silently cursing at the fact he only had five. “That’s all I’ve got- whoa!” Eric was sent stumbling back a few steps as Kyurem rubbed its head against his side.

“Heh, you’re welcome.” The arm of his jacket was solid ice, preventing him from moving it any. But it was worth it. “All in a day’s work, right Freja?” Eric turned towards his partner to find her staring back where they came. “Fre-?”

A deafening roar shook the cavern, raining ice and snow on everyone inside. “The hell…?” Eric muttered, completely forgetting about his frozen arm for a moment.

“Lu…” Freja had a bad feeling about this that she couldn’t shake.

Kyurem’s eyes narrowed, straightening to its full height. Another blast rocked the cavern.

“We need to check it out,” Eric started towards where the professor had been battling. He glanced back at the dragon that practically towered over him, “This is your chance to escape.” A gust of wind blew into the cavern then, heavy with draconic energy. Cursing under his breath, Eric ran back towards the battlefield.

“Holy-!” Eric came to an abrupt halt, staring up at the goliath Dragalge. In a burst of smoke and wind, the drake returned to its normal size, hissing at Joshua.

Next to him, he would find a broken man, the goliath professor falling to his knees. “I...I lost.” was all he said, not even looking up to the giant wyrm. Slowly and by automation, he raised his Pokeball, and withdrew a crumbled Machamp from under the wyrm. It was almost symbolic how he lay unable to climb the wall in front. Literally the leader of Blackleaf stood on another level of the chasm, another tier.

The words came at Eric like a sucker punch, all but knocking the wind right out of him. “Lost…?” No, no, no! This wasn’t right! “You can’t lose!” The trainer spluttered, “you’re the professor! You-“

The professor turned with a sharp look at Eric. “To be a man is to admit when you lose! A monster will force his pokemon to fight… and keep fighting far past their limit.”

He glared up at Mansel and the still hissing wyrm.

“I’m … I’ve done all that I can, young man. I’m sorry.”

WIth that, the Professor stood back up, towering over eric as he passed by, slapping his hand on Eric’s shoulder, and he just kept walking, forcing his body forward as he left to the cold.

Eric could only stare in wide eyed silence at the Professor’s words. “You can’t be serious…” he breathed, watching Joshua walk away. They were supposed to give up, just like that? Surrender Kyurem to Blackleaf and run away with their tails between their legs?

Wild red eyes darted between Mansel - who was already starting back towards Kyurem - and the path the professor retreated. His breath hitched. He couldn’t just abandon Kyurem to it’s fate, what kind of hero did that? He just needed to buy the legendary some more time to finish retreating, no big deal.

So why was he shaking?

“Freja, quick attack,” Eric hated how weak his voice sounded.

His Pokémon whipped her head around towards him, “lu!?”

A steadying breath, “you heard right. Use quick attack to get around them then bring down that tunnel with force palm. Whatever it takes, we can’t let them get to Kyurem.” He licked his lips, “I’ll… I’ll distract them.” Eric glanced over to see Freja still staring at him, “go!”

The Riolu gave him a wary look before dashing off, focusing her strength to change direction around the pair suddenly and strike at the tunnel’s ceiling. Eric, meanwhile, snatched a chunk of ice from the cavern floor and hurled it at the back of Dragalge’s head. He had to close the gap between them and fast. Another stone, this one for Mansel. The trainer wasn’t sure what he’d do when he actually got there, he just knew Mansel needed to be stopped.

The tired leader of blackleaf dredged towards the downed Kyurem as a rock hit both him and his Pokemon in the back of the head. Instantly a beam started to form in the dragalge’s mouth. Mansel, however, looked around. “Dragalge, aim for the Riolu. Hyper beam the trainer only if he tries again.”

The dragon looked disappointed, then glanced around the cave, trying to find where even Riolu had gone, Mansel having spotted it far before the dragon

Eric’s breath hitched at the command, his mind already racing to find a command to give Freja some kind of edge no matter how slim. But he couldn’t back out now, what kind of hero would he be if he did? He continued his charge with a roar.

Freja panicked for a moment at Mansel’s order, turning her force palm to the ground to spray ice, snow, and stone on Dragalge to try and blind it for her to make a retreat. A freezing wind picked up her attack, spikes up ice shooting up and racing towards Dragalge.

Glaciate

Kyurem’s eyes glowed menacingly from within the passageway. Mist was creeping back into the cave.

Ice and snow shot through, the Dragalge’s hyper beam literally frozen in its mouth, before bursting, and sending the dragon onto the floor, its eyes spinning with vicious roars in its sleep. Mansel simply looked up. “I see Kyurem’s back up.” He looked rather… displeased about the notion, scowling, but not showing any other emotions. He cooly looked over at Eric. “I take it that’s your doing?”

“Mansel! I’m sorry for the wait, I’m here!” After a while, Kenneth had started running ahead of Maya after he saw the giant ass Dragalge. It sparked some bad memories which reminded him to double his pace and deliver the ball quicker. The magnemite flew beside him with the masterball in hand.

“I’m here with Articuno and-” He stopped once he noticed Kyurem and Eric standing in the same… Room? Cave? He didn’t know what to call it, he blanked out for a second. “Oh, I’m not supposed to announce that out loud, aren’t I?” Kenneth said. “Quick, Milutin! Deliver the ball!” Kenneth shouted as the Magnemite darted forward towards Mansel.

Mansel held out a hand, without looking, his glove freezing to the ball.

“Least someone’s doing their job. Tch. But… Dragalge, get up. My star pokemon can’t go down like that…. I said get UP!”

For the first time, Mansel raised his voice, his foot flying into the acidic dragon, pieces of kelp sizzling away Mansel’s legging to his coat. A roar echoed through the cave as Dragalge woke, shaking off frost from its frozen seaweed, and its eyes went white with rage. With sheer rage, it spun around, sending the leader of Blackleaf flying past Kenneth and magnemite, and sending the master ball flying across the floor of the cave, shattering from the coldness emanating from it. Dragalge’s roar became deafening as it slithered forward at Kyurem, the entire cave shaking before collapsing, and an avalanche of snow separating everyone there, save Kenneth who stood in precisely the middle of the flow of outcoming snow.

Whiteout
A low groan as the world started coming back into focus. Everything hurt. Kinda like that one time Eric managed to get tackled by a Tauros only much, much colder. “What happened…?” Finally managing to get back on his feet, the trainer took in the massive piles of ice and snow and stone. The cavern looked nothing like it had just minutes ago.

Before Dragalge went on its rampage.

Eric shivered as he stumbled through the snow, the looming silence would’ve been peaceful had there not been a battle raging a short while ago. “How long was I out…?” Did Kyurem manage to get away? Or did they-?

The trainer was brought to a halt as he rounded a corner, “Shit, Freja!” What should have been a short sprint became a struggle not to fall flat on his face, but Eric made it over to his pokemon and scooped the Riolu up. She didn’t seem to be seriously hurt but also didn’t seem like she’d be waking up any time soon.

He struggled to get his bag open, thankful it had somehow survived the hit, only to scowl at how empty it was. He’d given all of his potions to Kyurem, he had no revives, no berries and a first aid kit meant for humans wasn’t going to do any good.

Eric recalled Freja to her pokeball with a heavy sigh. “I’ll get you out of here, then we’ll-” Icy fingers raked through his hair, what were they going to do? Something shimmered out of the corner of his eye, making him pause. A blue feather stuck out of the snow, looking more like a shard of ice. There was another not far off.

”I”m here with Articuno,” the blackleaf grunt that ran in had said.

A sharp swear as Eric followed the trail of feathers, forcing his half-frozen body to run. It didn’t take long to find Articuno, the massive bird was easily three times the size of his own pokemon and the temperature only got colder the closer he got. “H-hey!” He shouted, trying to rouse the legendary. No response. It was a struggle to even tell if the bird was breathing. “Shit. Just h-hang on,” he grasped a pokeball, Eric could only pray it would be able to even hold the legendary. “I’ll get you to a pokecenter, and-and the nurse will get you patched right up.”

The pokeball didn’t wiggle once after drawing in Articuno.

A signal started to beep across an older man’s phone. “Huh, signal for retreat. Well, do hope the boy tries a little harder next time,” he called out to the grunts around him. “RETREAT! WE’RE DONE HERE.”

Similarly, calls could be heard from various other admins, from Klein’s cool call (though he was reluctant to actually leave himself) to the maniacal laughter that was Admin Jones to barking orders of Admin Schaeffer. All around, the fighting began to die down as droves of grunts admins and others wearing the Blackleaf pin began to retreat.

All across the glacier, battles began to end, and retreats were barked.

Atop the chasm, a woman wearing little more than standard lab coat equipment, shirt and pants was jittering to a cup of coffee as she watched it unfold, a zubat reporting to her. With 2 zubat, 1 shiny, a golbat, and a crobat surrounded her. “Wayne, Buffy, Alucard, Count, Mina, its over, go let the trainers know…. Finally. Tzu, you can take that nap I pro- oh, you’re already on it.

Wait a second… Wayne, where’s the professor?”

The shiny zubat sort of shrugged in midair, before its tail pointed to where the jeep had landed in the chasm. It was gone. The researcher pulled her hair. "SHIIIT!"

Admin Jones:
Ganryu Ganryu LazyDaze LazyDaze

As the brawl in the center continued, a giggling figure hung from the side of a floating Sigilyph, laughing mad as he seemed to be know a joke that only he knew about. His cackling grew louder and louder, until he dropped off, landing perfectly, and sticking his hands in the pockets of his coat as he stumbled forward.

Seeing the dandy Fliathri on the bench, he laughed louder, and pointed to the exit. "Good job grunt, we're getting out. Hehehehe. We did it, I'm in a particularly good mood. Might not even experiment with some of my...findings here. Hehehe. Go outside, ride's here. Huh... you look like shit. Chimecho, patch him up."

A red flash, and a cracked Chimecho made somewhat zombie like sounds as its cloth wrapped around Fliathri, pulsing with healing energy.

Continuing downstairs, the admin's cackling continued as a third pokeball flew out, Malamar wrapped around the crazy nurse, blindfolding her, before pressing the pokeball's 'return' button, recalling Mr. Pebbles without even fighting the Mamoswine.

"Guess who!? Hehehehehe. Done grunt? Finish up and head outside, your ride's here. We did it. Got a niiiice little Kyurem. Our leader Mansel's not doing so hot, but acceptable losses. He'll live. Oooh, is that a rabbit application you're using? Nice."

Nobody:
Misuteeku Misuteeku

With the cave collapsed around Kenneth, the place seemed almost eerily quite. Ice dripped from the ceiling, and it even seemed a bit warmer inside now with both legendaries out the way. Electricity buzzed, and pieces of the once-legendary master ball on the floor seemed to almost levitate upwards around Magnemite.

The place began to become quieter and quieter still, trainers and blackleaf members evacuating, but no order had managed to get Kenneth, almost as if he'd been forgotten by both sides, though perhaps it was an opportunity? The pieces of the broken Masterball seems to be protected somewhat by the cold, and the fact they were further inside meant it was sheer transparent ice, and the broken circuitry was all visible.

The cave would also be acoustically sound, reverberating beautifully in such a way that would either terrify or amuse Mandrawl.

Mansel:
KageYuuki KageYuuki

As Maya would near the cave Kenneth had ran to, a groan could be heard against the wall. The leader of blackleaf wasn't looking good, gripping his ribs, and holding a walkie talkie to his side, the order to retreat having just gone out. A pokeball still shook from his belt but was far past the retention mark... Peeling himself off with a cough, he glared at Maya, before falling to his knees.

"We succeeded. Not a word about how I look..."

He then venomously clenched a pokeball that looked half melted.

"And not a word from you. Unruly as ever..."

Grabbing a different pokeball at Maya, he barked orders as he tossed it to her.

"That's Rong Vang, my Salamence, I'm going to need you to instruct him how to fly us out of here. He doesn't see so well. I'm going to need you to give orders, I'm going to be... convalescing for a bit."

Despite Mansel's regular coldness, there was almost a slight amount of tenderness as he talked about his Salamence, the cringes of a smile at his sides, before turning to more pain, and then his regular cold gaze glazed over, and he looked expectantly to Maya to use his pokemon.

A whole bunch of Snorunts and a Frosslass
Toogee Toogee cinnabuns cinnabuns

The rescue mission turned out to be fairly simple for the pair, the local wild pokemon oddly happy to help out the nurse and the young trainer. It turned the stranded trio were left in Snorunts' home, and they were all to happy to get rid of them, literally shoving them out the first hole the side of the wall.

As soon as the last one was out, a Snorunt held up a hand to Ianthe, before darting inside the cave, and bringing out artwork of frozen berries, presenting them to her. It smiled, giggled, and began to dance back into the cave. It began to sing harmony with Cotton, before a few minutes later suddenly collapsing on the ground, also with Cotton. It seemed like mistakes were made.

During the operation, a Frosslass would try and tug at Jaylinn, trying to bring her just to the lip of the cave, showing off a display of frozen statues, brilliantly written... something beneath each statue, not quite human language, but definitely recognizable as a plaque. It seemed overly proud of its collection, and kept trying to drag at Jaylyn to show her another statue, and another, and another. They were amazingly lifelike, but various Snorunts watched to make sure the Frosslass didn't get... too ambitious about her collection.

A few moments later, a crashing could be heard, along with a rousing round of 'oh Christmas Tree' as Abomisnow from the mayor broke into the cave, and offered an arm to both girls. The mayor tipped his hat, before tightening his scarf.

"Ladies." He nodded. "It seems Blackleaf is beginning to retreat. Thank you for all your help. Feel free to stop by mansion at any time."

A Friendly Ice Block
Silvaine Silvaine Phayne Phayne

Mist flooded the chasm once more, darkening the area, but also revealing more of the beauty inside as well, diamond sparkles floating along with the mist making a mesmerizing display as wind whipped around them. As the weather machine fell in a flaming wreck below, it smashed through several bridges of ice, before disappearing to the bottom. The area they were on began to go from quiet to much louder as many wild pokemon in hiding came out.

A large crash next to them shook the area... then another crash, before sparkling light filled the area.

A shining shelf of ice began to walk towards the two, an Avalugg, using the energy in its body to reflect off its own ice, giving it a resplendent appearance.

Flash

It nodded to the two, slowly moving towards them, before stopping, looking at them expectantly, and nodding towards its back, and lowering it slightly, the giant walking iceberg offering a ride back. If they looked around, dozens and dozens of Bergmites watched from the crevices.

Kenneth Vano

There was silence left in the room as Kenneth watched the entire situation escalate. It took Kenneth a minute to process everything as the situation went down the drain. After delivering the ball, he did not expect Mansel to kick his own Pokemon. Then he was sent flying, serves him right if Kenneth was going to be a little honest, by his own Pokemon. Then everything else was to shit as an avalanche caused by Dragalge's rage seperated everyone, aside from him. So now Kenneth was standing there with Milutin floating beside him, as usual unaffected by whatever happens around it. "Wow, what a bloody idiot," Kenneth muttered to himself as he shook his head. All of that hard work wasted in a blink of an eye. Hopefully he and Maya were still going to be payed after all of this. "Well, Miltuin, let's get out of here-"

He blinked to see what was stuck onto the magnemite's magnetic body. Bits and pieces of the masterball were pulled onto Milutin's magnetism. It made Kenneth felt bad that they had wasted such a rare Pokeball on an unsuccessful catch. Though was it possible to repair to its former state? Kenneth curiously looked over the state of the previously majestic masterball. The circuitry was damage, littered with frostbite, and shattered to many pieces but it was able to contain Articuno's sheer proximity of ice, so maybe it was fine? Taking the pieces from Kenneth and storing them in his bag, he decided it was time to get out. The last thing he needed was to be apprehended by whatever police Vera Valle had.

"Let's go, Milutin. No point in dawdling here." With that he left the frostbitten cave. There was a certain sound that was left in the absence of Kyurem and Articuno. Kenneth, however, didn't bother to pay attention. After everything that had happened today, he just stopped caring. Though it was a rather perculiar to hear such sound even when the room was devoid of anything other than his own breaths. Walking out of the cave, he didn't bother to turn back as he made his escape.

With the spectre of defeat looming over them, it was merely a waiting game for the inevitable demise of both trainer and pokemon, the duo's options exhausted throughout the fight; this battle lost. Now, all they could do was accept it; the simian pokemon bracing himself in defeat as he cowered, rooted in his spot and helpless to the oncoming assault of Drakloak. Not even Jay could plot a way out of this predicament, the trainer's accumulated experience paling in comparison to that of Levy, the superior trainer easily able to fight his way to victory despite the numbers disadvantage.

It seemed that they had bitten off more than they could chew, the draconian opponent before them releasing the built up energy of its dragon pulse strong enough to wrap things up.. or so it should have been; if only faith followed the script. A loud explosion, louder than the chorus of countless ongoing battles reverberated through the canyon; its roar deafening all those in the vicinity as winds billowed in every direction, spurned forth by the force of the blast. With each and every trainer feeling the shock wave, it seemed that the 'war' had come to its end as one by one the battles ceased to continue.

Secret agent Akira had done her job.

Quickly turning his attention back onto Flint, Jay had just about witnessed the Dragon Pulse miss its intended target, the large gathering of energy instead grazing the side of Flint as Drakloak misfired, even the ghostly apparition fazed by the suddenness of the explosion as well as the apparent destruction of the very thing they had been tasked with protecting. Mere moments after the destruction of the Weather Machine had occurred, mist had already begun to return to the area though that did not concern Jay at this moment; the trainer instead rushing towards his partner, Flint forced down to one knee as he held his shoulder, left palm covering the graze of the dragon pulse. Heavy Simian breaths creating clouds of exhale inches away from his face.

Grabbing Flint into his arms, Jay watched as Levi departed; an icy chill crawling up his spine as he watched Levi disappear into his own shadow; the cackling of Vex a sound he wouldnt soon forget. Though if anyone were to ask him, he shivered only because of the cold air.

Now just the four of them in the area, Jay quickly reached into his satchel; hand frantically grasping away for one of the potion sprays he carried as well as two oran berries, a quick first aide required as his partner still reeled from the damage he endured.

"Lili!" shouted Jay, as hand grasped the potion spray. "I don't know where that creep went, but it seems like the Weather machine has been destroyed" Jay fumbling with the cover, quickly began to spray Flint's shoulder, a cry of displeasure ringing from the chimp as his wound stung. "Flint's not in any shape to fight.. lets hope that this is the end of the mission" he added, placing the spray down on the snow beside him.

Aside from the sound of the Weather Machine crumbling, the area around them had become rather devoid of sound; the various other battles that took place nearby ending as well.

...............

As mist flooded the chasm once more and covered the sun above, Jay still clutching onto Flint who was now digging into the second Oran Berry could only sit and watch as the chasm revealed its beauty to them. The diamond sparkles were an effective distraction to the destruction that lingered just beyond their gaze, the weather machine crumbling down the canyon walls in a flaming wreck as several layers of ice were taken along with it.

As the machine disappeared into the dark crevices far below the canyon's surface, the chasm's inhabitants quickly returned to the vicinity around them; a chorus of cries echoing across the walls as pokemon of all varying sizes began to cheer, normality restored to their winter wonderland now that the devilish device no longer existed.

Amidst the symphony of pokemon cheers, a large crashing sound quickly began to grow in volume; the nearing chorus of large footsteps soon revealing the ice titan Avalugg, a pokemon so gargantuan that its a wonder it doesnt crumble under its own weight. A somewhat happy expression etched across its icy maw, the iceberg pokemon nodded to both Jay and Lili, hinting towards its desired intentions.

Getting the message, Jay returned Flint to his pokeball and clambered atop the Avalugg, turning to face Lili with a hand outstretched.

"Guess this beats jumping in the jeep with that crazy Professor and his Machamp".

TRUTH REXWORD

Truth thought he was truly dead to rights. The Nurse had not bought his last ditch effort to stall for time. Omega and Auto were most likely at their limit with a Piloswine that was as erratic, perhaps even more so. Truth's mind began to run through many scenarios, plans, countermeasures, and possibilities. All lead to his defeat, still he desperately tried think of something when suddenly it all stopped. He then heard a voice. He blinked dumbfounded at the sudden turn of events. "...Uh yeah...thanks...,"

Truth said as he returned Auto to his pokeball. How did this man already know what program he was running at just a glance of his computer. Thankfully, Truth didn't have much left to do. After a few keystrokes he was in. He entered the program and then closed his laptop only feeling half accomplished. Grunt, was the most fitting term although he didn't like it. The casual demeanor of the new comrade, apparently, almost made Truth forget the fact that got Kyurem. He made it sound so easy. Nevertheless, his mission was overwith and he would never be able to look at another Piloswine again let alone a nurse. That thought made him visible shudder. He left after pushing up his glasses and thanking the admin (then cursing under his breath). After a quick stretch and inhale, happy to be free of the stuffy pokemon center. He prepared for departure after deciding to create a workout regimen for himself, and dammit he was sticking to it.

LILINOE MOORE

The battle was dire then as Lilinoe uttered her command in hope of making it in time. Cursed body taking effect be damned. She saw the drake starting to build up massive enough amount of energy. Kini gathered her own energy, aura of purple surrounded her as she prepared to fire. If she unleashed it too quickly, it won't be strong enough... but premature it would have to be. Even as the drakloak shot out its dragon pulse at the exact same time for an explosion to ring out, Kini was firing her own attack. It splashed harmlessly to the ground as her aim was thrown off by the force of explosion.

Silence reigned for a moment as everyone present turned to see the broken machine. Lilinoe caught glimpsed of its smoking form before it crashed down into the chasm. Mist returned soon after, obscuring her view.

The admin, thankfully, had lost any motivation to continue fighting. His second pokemon revealing itself from the admin's shadow like omen of death. Its presence caused shiver to run down her spine. Lilinoe was really glad the fight had ended and swore to up her pokemon's training so that she would be better prepared next time.

Kini had returned beside her, still hacking out remnants of her failed attack. With one last heave, she belched out a final purple fumes. "Oh dear..." Lilinoe offered the salandit a drink that the pokemon drink from with relief and tended to her wound. "You did wonderful, Kini," Lilinoe murmured as she patted Kini. "I know you are tired, but stay with me a bit longer, alright." the salandit was her only pokemon so she still needed her to be by her side until they reached safety. She couldn't rely on someone else for these, not to mention, the chimchar may still suffer from disabled attack and in similar condition to Kini.

Lilinoe picked up the salandit in her arms, then turned toward approaching Jay. "I hope so. We are not in condition for more battle like that and Kini is my only pokemon." A hunting trip for a second pokemon had risen in priority in her mind.

Once the admin left, it seemed to bring back the wild pokemon's courage as they started making a ruckus that could be translated to a loud cheer. The area felt festive. Though she jumped a little when something crashed nearby and she faced it ready to fight incoming threat. A gigantic ice block greeted her. "you... want us to get on your back?" Lilinoe asked for clarification, still somewhat high strung and wary after her ordeal. The pokemon looked friendly enough to give them a ride. She looked toward its rocky, icy body, wondering how to best climb it. Jay had climbed ahead of her and offered her his hand, earning him a beaming smile. "Thank you," she said as she took the hand and hoisted herself up to the avalug's back. It was dry instead of slippery that she expected.

"ugh, don't remind me. We might have to take it again to get back," Lilinoe groaned over the reminder. She was so not looking forward to a second ride back. "Once this is over, can I ask for your number? I mean, for friendly contact..." do you want to be friend, went unsaid.

Pokemon Out: Kini

Several months had passed since the clash at the Nacreous Glacier Chasm. There were numerous victories and defeats at the chasm, but one thing was sure. Nearly everyone involved had made sure immediately to buy a better coat, and the Nacreousville doctor's had a massive surge in frostbite cases. Trainers and Blackleaf grunts both became more seasoned from the battle, and their pokemon as well, evolutions and the art of battle took a huge increase in Vera Valle. Soon a new term began to be popular among trainers, called 'Vera Valle Style', which became a surprisingly strict dueling standard, involving a two versus two single battle in specifically hazardous terrain.

Blackleaf was battered from the assault, a full 30% of their forces were arrested following the assault on the Chasm.

Still, local authorities began to fear them more for the capture of Kyurem. They expected retaliation from them. It never came. In fact, Blackleaf seemed to quiet down significantly following the raid, and few could figure out why. Some speculated that they were too damaged to continue as an organization. Other's thought they'd faded away once their goal had been met.

Inside the organization, missions became scarce, and Mansel began to appear less before his grunts or admins, his rare sightings being marked with a cane and a cough. The Admins began to try and take over more, but squabbled who was incharge. For a few months, this meant little work or pay, but eventually, the admins decided to simply take care of the regions they were assigned, and not to mess with the others too much. Grunts could go where they liked, there'd be work.

On the trainer's end, it was surprisingly smooth of taking back over the chasm and restoring order. The professor's assistant Maria Calderon took the reigns, and with the mayor made sure everyone who helped was rewarded.

With Blackleaf being quieter, it was a chance for them to take care of more mundane tasks, such as explore Vera Valle, and come to its heart more. A mostly untamed region, there was no shortage of places to explore or work to be done. Still, a question still popped up from time to time. Where had the Professor gone to?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Silvaine Silvaine AllHailDago AllHailDago

A phone call sounded on the two trainers phones, wherever they had wandered to in the valley, which always led to the same results. A request from the laboratory, trouble, but at least compensation for their help, and a chance to do good in the world. Whatever ringtone they had would soon be buzzing into the area.

"H-hello, Lilinoe? This is Maria, the Professor's assistant... though I guess I'm head of the observatory these days? Uh, yes, sorry to bug you, just the Lacuno Observatory's having a teensy problem."

An earthquake sounded, the phone shaking badly, and Maria yelling on the other side.

"Drat... my glasses, can you help. Hey, Markus, help? Yes, yes, I know you all aren't servant, but I'm kinda busy and blind, and stress, and oh heavens why am I ru- oh, thank you."

She returned to Lilinoe. "Anyways, uh, how do I put this? Well... it's Onyx mating season, and we're -" another thud shook the phone. "-a bit close. Its messing with our Seismographs which we use to track King here, the Regigigas. We, uh, try to stay out of his way, and if the seismographs are" Another crash. "Down, its a lot harder. Now, I'm not asking for violence, but, well, if you could dissuade them, that would be... awesome. Just bring them somewhere else. Can you grab Damon? He should be near your location. Though... I checked he's nearby, but where are you again? Guess it doesn't matter. Anyways, if you could help, that'd be great. Anyways, I haven't slept in 36 hours, so, uh, feel free to call back, but I might not be the one answering, I think I'm going to take a nap. Oh yeah, you probably want Damon's phone. I'll text that."

It was about an hour before she got a text saying:

Sorry, I forgot, here's the number for Damon Arwel, and a pic from his trainer's license. XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Three more trainers, Jay, Jaylyn, and Ianthe would recieve phone calls that day. The worst drawl ever met their ears as the greeting alternated for each of them.

"Hey, this here Jay? Sworn I had a brother named that.

"Hey, this here Jaylyn? Assistant Maria dun told me how helpful you are.

"Hey, this here I, I... Ian, ... uh, sorry miss, I dun can't pronouce ya name.

"Anyways, I was out here in the woods, admiring Sky Island's shadow falling when I realized, that ain't right, Sky Island's not over the forest right now. Why, it was a shadow from a swarm of bugs. Nasty little things. Tried getting mah Croconaw to give'em the old one two bite, but too many of'em. I reckon there was at least 5 that beat up on the ol' boy. In the end I had to run with mah tail 'tween me legs. Now, that ain't very manly of me, and my Ma told me to get back out there, so I did. These things were bee lookin', and kinda like a honey come. This time I got close to get a looksees. And what'd I see? I ain't never believe it, but it was a massive Vespi... vespi... bee queen pokeman. It dun kicked my ass twelve ways to Sunday.

Anyways, it was headin' to Nimbos town, and the folks there ain't used to trouble. I dun know what the queen's so angry 'bout, but if ya kindly show her the door, I'm sure it'll work out. Anyways, I'd be mighty appreciative if ya were to help me out, and so would the researcher's here. They got a good heart, god bless that nervous wreck of a woman who I dun called and gave me ya numbers. That and I want mah Mato be proud of me. And let mah girl said I was sleeping on the couch til I dun did somethin' bout it. Says the buzzing's keeping her up at night.

Well, I dun talked your ear off, thanks for listening. Thanks more if ya do something 'bout it."

End of Nacreos Glacier Silvaine Silvaine
"Sure" replied Jay, pulling his mobile phone out in preparation of exchanging numbers with Lili. He saw no issues with exchanging numbers with her, she was after all quite the pokemon battler and her quick with and ingenuity today had sparked an interest in Jay. Lili and Kini would be opponents that he'd enjoy facing off in battle one day. With Avalugg steadily carrying them down the mountains and back into town, Jay could not help but fall asleep upon the pokemons back, the gentle rhythmic motions of its steady steps a far contrast to the hellish driving of both Professor Joshua and his Machamp. This swaying motion coupled with both the physical and mental fatigue of today's events had taken its toll on Jay, the exhaustion hitting him all at once now that the adrenaline was long gone.

Spending a few days at Nacreosville to recover, Jay and Flint soon found themselves parting ways with the other trainers that had aided in their cause, the pair of them resolving to get stronger as individuals and as a pair, so as to not feel as helpless as they did.

During the Last few months
Since the events of Nacreous Glacier, Jay had found himself in deep training alongside Flint and Hendrix, the former alongside Jay finding themselves almost obsessed with getting stronger. The fight with Levi and his Drakloak had been arduous, the clear difference in power and experience between himself and Levi had been apparent from the very beginning of the fight. From the get go they were at a disadvantage, even with the numbers working in their favour.

Their faults and weaknesses were painfully exposed for the world to see during that fight, Flints limited move range and strict adherence to close range physical moves had strongly limited his ability to fight on par with the dragon pokemon, whose inherent ability was enough to completely take the pair of them out of the fight. The duo had never felt more helpless as they did during that final dragon pulse, a move that would have ended the fight there and then had it not been for good fortune.

Months spent travelling the various routes, Jay alongside Flint and Hendrix found themselves in countless battles with wild pokemon. Well, Jay and Flint did; Hendrix on the other hand was up to his usual antics of being a spoilt child and unwilling to battle. Focusing more on Flints development at this moment, the pair of them spent this time re-inventing themselves as more than just a two-dimensional trainer; expanding their horizons by learning various new moves and tactics that would better aide them in the future. Moves such as Fire Spin and Double team had given Flint the ability to fight from afar as well as confuse the foe; variable fighting techniques that he had seen Lili and Kini put to good use back at the glacier.

With all this 'power training' put into place, it was inevitable that Flint would evolve, the hyper active yet amateurish Chimchar evolving into the Lean, mean, fighting machine Monferno; a more refined and high spirited fighter; one eager for a rematch with Levi's Drakloak.

Present Day Ganryu Ganryu Toogee Toogee cinnabuns cinnabuns Misuteeku Misuteeku
"Dodge it Flint!" urged Jay, fist clenched ahead of him as he spurned his partner onward; the newly evolved Monferno presently doing battle with a wild Primeape; the latter apparently taking offence to Monferno's appearance. Granted, both were primates of the 'Fighting type' and therefore held quite a lot of similarities, yet in modern media it was clear as day who the more popular of the two pokemon was. Due to this, Primeape may have held some kind of chip on his shoulder; like the forgotten older brother who finds himself jealous at his younger siblings achievements. "Quick, Double Team!"

Giving his trainer the thumbs up and flashing a cocky grin, Flint easily sidestepped the oncoming Primeape, the pig monkey rushing in close with a Karate Chop only to find himself surrounded by several Monferno's, each new spectral clone evoking more anger from the already berserk pokemon and thus increasing its attack. 'Anger Point' an ability designed to raise the pokemons stat to its limit after enduring a critical hit. Whilst not physically damaged, the sight of several Monferno's surrounding it was a far more critical assault on its already fragile mentality. As if ready to explode, the wild Primeape began punching the ground in frustration, its composure non existent as it let the anger take control.

"Its distracted Flint! Restrict its movements and wear it down with a 'Fire Spin!" barked Jay, his eyes lit with the fiery spirit of competition; heart beat raising as the adrenaline took over. Following Jay's command, Flint released a spiralling vortex of orange flames from his exposed maw; the serpentine like fire quickly enveloping Primeape in a cone of fire; the heat beginning to eat away at Primeapes health. With this one move, Flint had sealed off Primeapes mobility, trapping the simian swine in its spot whilst simultaneously picking away at its health.

"Great Job, now follow up with a One-Two Power Up Punch combination!"

Obliging his trainer, Flint charged forward towards the trapped pokemon, both fist clenched tightly and surrounded with a light brown aura, quickly pummelling either side of Primeapes face with a one-two combination of jabs, Flints attack raising with each punch. Taking the brunt of both powered hits, Primeape stumbled backwards several steps and fell to one knee, clearly rattled from the torrent of attacks in quick succession yet still lingering onto consciousness as it refused to let Monferno win the battle of the Fighting Monkeys. A futile endeavour as the cone of fire raged once more, eliciting a howl from the trapped pokemon.

"Finish it off now, Fire Punch"

Fire grew from Flints right fist as he walked towards the staggering primeape, the angry pokemon still having the audacity to taunt its stronger opponent with a 'Bring it on' hand Gesture. Truly Primeape was a fighter, one that knew not the taste of surrender and one who would rather fall in battle then turn its back in shame. A hardened warrior. With a smile on its face, Primeape took the full force of Flints powered up fire punch, the veteran fighter sent flying backwards into a tree, knocked unconscious from the attack. "Great job Flint, you're getting better at utilising your strength since evolving" praised Jay, as he rustled through his bag for something. Despite losing the battle and being overpowered easily by Flint, Jay could not help but feel a strong connection to the fighting spirit of the Primeape and sought to bolster his team with a keen fighter such as this.

Jay readied a pokeball in his hand and began to approach primeape, fist bumping his trusted partner as he walked by, Flint clambering onto Jay's back in the process knowing full well what Jay's intentions were. Primeape would have been a welcomed addition to the team. Of course, it just was not to be the case as Jay stopped in his tracks, the recognisable ringing of his mobile phone emanating from his backpack. This distraction was just long enough to give the hiding Mankey a chance to rescue their fallen leader, several of them swooping down from the tree's above to collect Primeape and usher him away, deep into the dense forest's of route 4. Jay glanced down at his mobile, annoyed. The primeape had gotten away.

'Number Unknown' was messaged across the screen, those two words causing Jay to furrow his brow in annoyance. "Seriously.. of all times" muttered Jay, pressing the red icon on his mobile and pocketing the phone. He didn't have the time for these random calls asking if he was interested in this new product or if he had been in a car accident... he didn't even own a car.

Gathering his belongings and beginning the walk back to LakeTown, Jay's phone began to ring once more and again the words 'Number Unknown' were visible on the screen, this time eliciting a sigh from Jay, who for the second time of the day pressed the red icon and pocketed the phone; still holding a grudge at whoever it was on the other end of the phone that had aided in Primeapes escape.

It wasn't until Jay found himself at the bridge connecting route 4 to LakeTown that the phone rang for a third time, the same message plastered on the screen, only this time Jay answered, ready to tell whichever corporate nuisance it was on the other end to stop calling him, he wasn't interested. Only, it wasn't one of those calls.

"Hey, this here Jay? Sworn I had a brother named that..."

Jay listened on as the drawling voice of a man continued, not once giving Jay the opportunity to interrupt him. Whilst initially preparing himself to just hang up the phone, Jay's interest was soon piqued as the man on the other end began to mention the Vespiqueen and its combee, the rampaging horde of pokemon apparently causing havoc as they made way towards Nimbos Town, a coincidence as that just so happened to be the town residing at the other end of route 4.

Jay, already knew that he was going to end up helping the town. Whether it be because of this phone call or because he just so happened to be there at the right time, fate seemed keen on having him be present for this invasion, after all what were the chances he would get this call the day before he was planning to make his way over there on his own accord. That being said, Jay did have a secondary reason for going and that was more to do with the missing Professor, his sister Violet voicing her concerns as the professor has remained M.I.A since the Nacreos glacier incident. Perhaps the researcher this man had mentioned had some idea's to where Professor Joshua was.

"Fine. I'll be there in a day" replied Jay, hanging up the phone and making his way into the Laketown Inn. He momentarily wandered if there would be other trainers being round up for this mission.

"Well well, yer lookin a bit worn out there buckeroo" hollered the Inn's barkeep, as he laughed at Jay's frustrated demeanour. "How bout I whip ya up one of our inn's specialities, half price for yer last night ere. I'll even throw in a few Poffins for Flint and Hendrix, on the house... least I could do since ya took care of ma daughter the other day" The bar keeper winked and disappeared into the kitchen.

Jay merely placed a palm to his face in embarrassment as the rest of the room got the wrong idea, several men 'woo wooing' in jest as they teased the young man. It had only been some advice on pokemon battling, nothing more. Flint on the other hand happily celebrated at the mention of free poffins.

"Cotton, you always manage to get yourself into something~. At least your new friend Niva is enjoying your antics. Isn't that right, sweetheart?"

From her demeanor, it might have seemed like she wasn't thinking about him at all, but Ianthe was really, really, worried about Professor Joshua.

It had been months since she'd had any sign of him or any of her older partners. It was a little nervewracking, not being able to bond or make sure they were okay. They hadn't shared numbers, or when she did call Maria, there was no word from the Professor. She'd heard he'd been involved in a big battle while she was with the Mayor but...she wished she'd been there to help him, even if she had her own mission to follow through. In good news, Articuno had been freed. She hadn't done much to help because of the distraction with Eric's father, but it helped enough. One Admin out of the way for now was good. And supposedly, whatever fight the Professor had with the leader of Blackleaf had done enough to keep them at bay. She hadn't heard much since then; maybe a few skirmishes but nothing as big as...catching Kyurem.

They really needed to do something about that, but what could they?

Unfortunately...none of them were strong enough, on their own. None of her Pokémon had evolved yet, and while they could pack a punch...in comparison, especially to Pokémon like that Admin or the Professor or even the leader of Blackleaf's....

Ianthe had never worried about strength before, even when she'd battled her own Elites around the regions. It was more about having fun and enjoying time with her Pokémon. But if Blackleaf had Kyurem, regardless of how she used to feel...she had to get stronger. That made her feel weird, for some reason, but it was necessary. So while she had been enjoying some of the time off, after a month, she'd started training her Pokémon better and made sure to give them the proper diets. Poffins, Poké Blocks...all Ianthe could to keep them happy for more training. They deserved it, with all the hard work they were doing.

And now she even had a new Pokémon all by accident - an adorable little Snorunt she'd named Niva, who had fallen out due to Cotton's Perish Song in the Chasm. She hadn't caught the thing when it fainted; she'd felt bad that Cotton had done that and took it upon herself to care for it. Now, Niva was pretty much family. It was so sweet how she and Cotton got along and entertained one another with song. Even Nymph was getting better with her nervous behavior. To Ianthe, she considered it all a win. New friends, and no one in her party had gotten too hurt....

Except for Joshua, wherever he was...she found herself wondering about Eric, too, and Akira...Damon....

Ianthe snapped to attention as she heard her phone ring and it wasn't her mom or dad checking up on her. She picked up, listening to the man drawl on about how he couldn't pronounce her name; that was fine. It was easy, but...it was fine. She'd heard that before--wait.

Bugs?

Ianthe groaned inwardly at this. Why bugs? Although...she considered it. If she could capture the Vespiquen, that would be a marvelous addition to her party. And bug types were pretty weak against ice, so maybe Niva could offer a good amount of assistance here along her the people she was going to meet. She'd met Jaylyn in passing during the Chasm, but this was more of her speed; a partner or a trio of people helping with something a little more minor than two legendaries. It was always easier to battle together than alone.

"No problem! I'll be there as soon as I can."

Looked like she would be getting in contact with that Onix again soon.

Eric Wolfe

The morning sounds in Nimbos Town were broken up by a hail of blows against a wooden target. While not terribly uncommon - particularly when a certain young Wolfe was home - what were normally trained and rhythmic strikes had devolved into an erratic and unpredictable string of attacks.

Dragalge’s hyper beam was more of a flash of light than an attack as Machamp collided with it, the two pokemon crashing back into the wall. Causing a torrent of ice and snow to sweep away both the Blackleaf leader and Professor.

Kyurem laying unmoving on the floor. Several places on its icy body had been gouged or melted away by Dragalge’s acid.

Eric gritted his teeth. The mission to Nacreous Chasm had been a disaster.

The goliath professor fell to his knees. “I...I lost.” was all he said, not even looking up to the giant wyrm. Slowly and by automation, he raised his Pokeball, and withdrew a crumbled Machamp from under the wyrm.

Dragalge’s roar became deafening as it slithered forward at Kyurem, the entire cave shaking before collapsing.

Articuno reduced to an unresponsive heap.

The strikes on the target grew heavier.

He couldn’t even touch the admin that stopped him and Ianthe. Mansel has wiped the floor with the professor back there. The bastard nearly killed Articuno and still walked away with Kyurem. And to top it all off? Now the professor had up and vanished.

“To be a man is to admit when you lose! A monster will force his pokemon to fight… and keep fighting far past their limit.”

Eric stopped, breathing heavily. “A man…?” His voice was low, a dangerous edge creeping into it. “You abandoned Kyurem like an Arceus damned coward!” A frustrated roar as he drew his fist back, all of that anger, frustration, helplessness, it came bubbling over. A blue aura flickered around his fist, not unlike when Freja was first learning to channel her aura into force palm. He threw it all into a blow that could rival even a Pokémon in raw power.

Only for the aura to flicker out an instant before his fist made contact with the wooden log. “Dammit!” Eric hissed, ripping his hand back and shaking it a few times before inspecting the damage. Blood seeped from scraped knuckles that complained loudly when he flexed them. Nothing was broken, but it was definitely going to hurt for the next few days.

Eric gave an exasperated groan as he flopped onto his back in the grass, throwing an arm over his eyes. A familiar weight was soon laying across his chest. “What the hell are we supposed to do?” He asked, moving his arm so he could look at Freja. “Blackleaf still has Kyurem and no one’s done a damn thing.”

“Lu?”

Eric frowned, “The professor…?” He shook his head, “Look, even if he was doing something, we can’t just wait around for him.”

Freja gave a noncommital hum, he wasn’t entirely wrong. Twiddling their thumbs wasn’t going to do anyone any good.

Red eyes narrowed up at the clouds floating lazily overhead. “I hate sitting around doing nothing, we all need to get stronger, and fast.” Eric’s injured hand complained as he gripped at the long strands of grass beneath them. “We can’t even touch an admin as we are now. I know we got lucky against-” He gritted his teeth, “against that admin back there. We would’ve been screwed if he brought out Fenrir, especially if he mega-“ Eric blinked, “That’s it!” He shot up, sending his Riolu tumbling onto his lap with a surprised yelp. “You remember that rock formation in Pileus right? That thing’s full of Lucarionite.”

Freja blinked, “Rii?” The formation he was talking about was also jealously guarded by a pack of Lucario, trainers could almost never even get close. Her eyes narrowed, “lu…”

“Yes I know, but we can’t wait for Articuno to heal, Nurse Radost said it could take years. We don’t have that kind of time. Think about it, with a chunk of that you’ll be able to mega evolve as soon as you become a Lucario.” Eric was already on his feet, moving back towards the house. “Let’s at least go check it out.”

Freja sighed, following after him. There was no way this was going to end well for either of them.

Maya and Fliathri would find themselves in a small room with a giggling maniac. Admin Jones, always the mad one. Everything in the room seemed to be floating as his numerous psychic pokemon were allowed out. A spreadsheet was open on his computer, though the computer's screen kept turning to static due ot the presence of so many psy pokemon.

"Hehehe... The Glacier went fabulously. Thank you two is.... what I'd like to say! But everything's a mess! You two did fine, but the other admins, hahaha, seemed to have forgotten a criminal organization is still an ORGANIZATION! Hehehe... Don't you worry, don't you worry, old Jonesy has a plan, a good plan! Pratibha, map."

A map was held up floating in the air, and then various junk which absolutely littered the room began to assemble on the ground, forming a 3d dimensional map as an Musharna floated by. The map too up half the room, and Jones simply walked onto it, near crumbling mt. Regi which came up to his knee.

"Right. We need profit. And for a profit we need business. I've, uh, recently found some product for business... hehehe. And reading your file Maya, you might appreciate it. FIRE STONES!!"

A piece of the map was plucked up by psychic powers and left floating, the ring of fire, and rising higher, the Flame Caverns.

"Hehehehe. Now, its hot... REALLY hot there. But life is pain, get used to it. Unusual pokemon, go explore or whatever, but when you find a large vein of the stones, report back to me. Oh, and try this little homing beacon. My people will get it, don't you worry.. Hehehehe... Jonesy always comes through, even when our huge idiot of a leader's not around. Oh, you two are still here. Shoo, shoo, I have work to do, schemes to make, lives to ruin. HAHAHAHA!"

------------------------------------

"What am I supposed to do with you, hm? You're lucky those gems weren't important." Admin Klein hoisted a Sableye up to eye level, having yet to notice the trio that had stepped inside. The pokemon shrugged before pointing at the door. "Hm? Oh!" Levi released the squirming pokemon and leaned back against his desk, eliciting a creak, his seemingly ever-present smile front and center. "Glad you made it, was starting to think no one would come." Despite the lack of air conditioning in a majority of the Laketown base, a deep chill permeated the small space. Not that the admin seemed to mind or even notice.

"Anyhoo, you three are here for work and I have plenty of jobs to go around!" He reached back on the desk for a teapot and poured a small cup. Though between the cracks spiderwebbing through it and the large piece of missing porcelain, the teapot shouldn't have been able to hold any liquid whatsoever. "It goes without saying that capturing Kyurem took a major toll on us, but we've been picking up new recruits." Levi sipped on the tea with a contented sigh, returning the cup to his desk. "I know, I know 'why are you telling us this?' is what you're thinking. Thing is, new recruits means hazing from just about anyone with a minute of seniority over them. Swear Schaeffer encourages it, bitch.

"Group of 'em thought they'd go prove their bravery or something and ran off to Cumulo Moors in the middle of the night. Many of the pokemon there don't take too kindly to being bothered, so really all they've managed to prove is that they're idiots. We need to rebuild our numbers though, so could you try to find them before the ghosts there do? You'll need to get a move on if you wanna catch up to them. Oh!"
Levi pushed off from the desk, circling around it to dig through a bag on the floor. "Take this with you, it'll help." He tossed an elaborate looking set of goggles to Kenneth. "Silph Scopes are hard to get a hold of, so I will want it back in working order. Good luck you three!"

Stepping into the room, the first thing Viktor took notice of was the pokemon presently squirming in Admin Klein's hand; the mischievous little critter obviously up to no good, considering the dynamics presently taking place in the room. As the Sableye darted away, Viktor subconsciously raised the collars of his white jacket, covering more of his neck before turning to face the Admin sitting parallel to them, the man defying the laws of physics as he poured himself a glass of tea from the clearly broken teapot.

Despite remaining rooted to the spot, every fibre of Viktor wanted to fidget as he listened to Klein drawl on about the mission at hand. Viktor, honestly did not care much for the specifics nor the semantics of why they needed to rescue this group of idiots. As far as Viktor cared, it was simply mother nature culling away the stupid; survival of the fittest. If these fools wanted to prove their worth, perhaps proving they had any common sense should have been their first task... not how big the gems between their legs were. Truthfully, the only thing here that presently piqued his interest was the physic's defying teapot.

Trying to remain somewhat professional and thus doing his best to avoid addressing the elephant in the room, Viktor forced himself to remain quiet throughout the rest of the admins explanation, instead focusing on watching the Sableye from the corner of his eye; the little gremlin presently lost in its own world as it juggled the gems it was just moments earlier scolded for.

...

"Oh well... I guess these will help to identify their spirits as they pass on to the next life" joked Viktor, leaning forward so that his face was eye level to the Silph scopes that Kenneth presently held. "I've always wanted to see the ghost of a person" he smirked, a finger placed against his lip as he mused with the idea momentarily, before he began to swell up with excitement; his body shaking with joy. A sudden realization had hit him and any forced attempts at remaining professional had quickly dissipated as his true nature took this opportunity to parade itself for the crowd. "Oh!... Oh!... OH!!" shouted Viktor, standing up fully once more and skipping forward so that he was inches away from Klein's desk before slamming both hands atop its wooden surface and causing the cup of tea to spill ever so slightly.

"What if.." he began, grinning as he leaned forward "What iiiiiiiiifffffffff we....." he continued to get closer to Klein; his grin widening to the point that it looked like his face was going to burst from excitement. "What if... we get lucky and managed to see the moment their spirits become pokemon?...huh?.. wouldn't that be cool?... Huh? Wouldn't it?... I think it would!" the excited young man was now inches away from Klein himself, the slight scent of fenel escaping from his large grin, bits of black liquorice still stuck in his teeth. "Did you know, Spiritombs come to existence after taking in 108 spirits?" he asked rhetorically. "Imagine, my little Mephisto was formed from 108 spirits!... how many of them were human?!", Viktor quickly grabbed at his spiritombs pokeball and pressed it against the cheek of Klein. "108!, Can you believe it?!.. hahaha!"

Before even allowing Klein time to even attempt to push him away, Viktor pulled himself back, pocketing Spiritombs ball away from sight. "Hahaha I wonder... just what pokemon would these beautiful idiots become?.. I can't wait to make them mine!" Viktor mockingly appeared to be considering all the possibilities of owning a former human turned pokemon. However rathan than expressing these idea's out loud he merely smiled and snaked his way behind both Kenneth and Truth, placing either arm over their shoulders as he stood in between the two, almost letting his body hang so that his weight was being held up by the two other men in the room. "Meh... doesn't matter what they turn into. We could capture them regardless of what ghost pokemon they turn into.. y'know.. it would still be within the scope of the mission!, bringing back these idiots... though.. they'd be pokemon... so they'd be in our pokeballs....so i guess... you wouldn't have to pay them... because you know... they'd be pokemon.... so if you think about it.. they'd be more useful!" Viktor was basically bouncing on the spot now as he put together his foolish reasoning. "Its a win-win-win!"

Lilinoe spent the night in Nacreousville. It is where she finally found out about the full detail of what happened. Blackleaf had caught Kyurem. Any effort they have done to destroy the machine means nothing to Blackleaf in the end. They had gotten what they came for. She can't help but thought if she had been stronger, maybe they could have done more or completed their mission faster.

"No, not if their admin are all of similar strength." She recalled the admin they had fought. His pokemon gave her chills. It was clear that there are a wide gap of power and experience between them. It would take months, even years for her to train her pokemon to get to that kind of skill level. Ashamed that a part of her was glad the admin didn't consider them worth fighting and merely toyed with them. "It is frustrating to be powerless." They had gotten complacent over the years when they had a comfortable job and being able to deal with most common wild pokemon back in Alola. They had no need to be stronger back then.

She wondered if Jay felt this need to be better too. If there was any silver lining, it would be finding herself a friend in Jay. Though they didn't talk to each other much due to urgency of the situation, she felt a sense of camaraderie when they tag teamed and fought the admin together. Bad luck and perhaps bad match up had led Jay to have a hard time against the dragon, yet he impressed her with how fierce the two fought.

---

Lilinoe and Kini chose to travel west from Nacreousville, passing through the outlands and since then, they have filled their time with training and exploring more of the region. Lilinoe accepted offer for battle more frequently and going to riskier area to gain experience. Of course, it wasn't all that they did as Lilinoe still needed to take small job from time to time to pay for her daily necessities. Between all of that, months have passed.

-Laketown-

They were taking a break on the bank of a lake when her phone rang. Its screen told her it came from the professor's assistant, Maria.

"H-hello, Lilinoe? This is Maria, the Professor's assistant... though I guess I'm head of the observatory these days? Uh, yes, sorry to bug you, just the Lacuno Observatory's having a teensy problem."

Lilinoe sit straighter as she gave Maria her full attention. She listened to Maria informing her of rerouting Onix, during their mating season no less. She felt headache from how she would go about this task. Lure them with sweet scent then try to outrun them? uuh. Well, access to sweet scent does mean she has way to do that, but onix was bad news with her salandit taking enormous damage from ground typing.

Seeing the professor being so overworked however made her want to help her anyway. "Okay, I will see what I can do," she agreed.

an hour later, she made her call immediately after receiving Damon's number and picture.

"Hello, am I speaking to Damon Arwell? I am Lilinoe. The head of observatory, Maria asked me to relay you a message," Lilinoe begun with introduction and why she was calling. "She asked me to meet up with you and head for the observatory. They have onix... uh..." she hesitated a bit before continuing, "Onix in mating season causing earthquake and so she need us to reroute them elsewhere."

"so is there some place we can meet up? I am currently in laketown."

Pokemon Out: Kini

Where we last left Jaylyn, she had assisted the research team of Lacuno Observatory in rescuing stranded trainers in the Nacreous Glaciers. The mission wasn’t nearly as dire as she had feared, especially with the help of the local pokemon. After a strange art exhibition from a Frosslass, the nurse joined the other trainers at the mayor’s mansion. After some time to recover from the cold, they learned of the origins of Vera Valle. Jaylyn wished she could have stayed a bit longer, but duty called. The nurse was off to help another stranded trainer.

The months passed, as Vera Valle began waking from the cold winter. Jaylyn was on the Pannus Grasslands, helping a group of volunteers set up a popup pokemon center. It consisted of a shipping container set up as a cabin. There were bunk beds for trainers to rest in and a self-service healing station for their pokemon teams. A pair pair of vending machines were stocked with various drinks and food for people, though the nurse made a point to leave out a few free snacks for emergencies. Outside, her Indeedee was busy planting Cheri berries; paralysis was a common ailment in these parts. The volunteer construction crew, mostly Machoke and their trainers, were putting the finishing touches, constructing a picnic table.

Jaylyn had become fast friends with the crew, especially after the latter’s first attempt at putting up a lightning rod. Turns out raising a metal pole in a lightning storm was a terrible idea. The nurse had worked her healing magic and the crew continued construction without delay.

Inside, Jaylyn was setting up the healing station, making sure nothing was damaged in the lighting rod mishap. Though manuals were strewn across the station, she was quite adept at working these machines. As the nurse initiated a firmware update, the familiar pokemon center theme song filled the room. The ring tone came from Jaylyn’s phone. The music stopped with a quick touch to her headset.

“Pokemon Center Hotline. This is Nurse Joy Jaylyn. How can I assist you?”

What followed was a tale of a swarm of bee pokemon heading straight for Nimbos Town. The vast number of the swarm meant a lot of potential injuries. With trainers and bystanders alike at risk, Jaylyn agreed to make her way west.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can!” Jaylyn quickly replied before making another call.

“Hello, Onix Exodus? How fast can I get to Nimbos town from Pannus Grasslands?”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Route 4- Just outside Nimbos Town

The ground began to shake, scaring off several pidgey into the air. As soon as they left, a massive onix breached the ground like a whale in water. Strapped to his back was the body of a beat-up van. Dents covered all sides of the vehicle, as if caught in a hail of gunfire. Windows were hard to see through, both from dirt and the numerous cracks. It was a miracle they didn’t shatter into the passenger area. Indeed, the van appeared to be held up solely by the various bumper stickers, denoting that this onix was a “student driver”.

The door to the van opened and out came Jaylynn. She stumbled out, very nearly falling face first into the dirt. She shakily landed on her feet as the radio from the van chimed in:

Thank you for trying our experimental Daytripper van service. Please be sure to fill out the email survey at your earliest convenience. Pleasant travels!

There was nothing pleasant about the trip. She was supposed to be able to sleep through the day long trip, but how could she when the onix insisted on hitting every boulder. Every hit threatened to shatter the van and drown the nurse in earth and rock. And the spinning was entirely unnecessary.

The onix retreated back underground while Jaylyn summoned her Indeedee for assistance.

“DeeDee, just…get me to town.”

The dizzy nurse leaned against the pokemon as they walked the short distance to town. She hoped the solid ground would help her recover from the wild trip.

“I do miss the Corvinight riders…” she thought longingly of her hometown taxi service.

NATURE
Just nearby the trainers, as they neared Nimbos City, to the south of them was that cries of various other Pokemon fleeing from the forest. Small pokemon like pikachus, butterfrees, aipoms, and shroomish were seen running away in a mad panic from the forest, followed by many other intimidating, larger pokemon such as usuaring, Stoutland, and many others. What was chasing them were an entire swarm of combee that buzzed angrily at them. However, the Combee stopped at the end of the forest as the wild Pokemon fled from Nimbos forest and proceeded to return back into the deeper parts of the forest.

A lone Bunerary tumbled out of a bush. Various amounts of bruises, bites, and injuries were littered all over the small bunny's body. It collapsed onto the road not too far from the bush.

There was faint, agitated buzzing of Combee to be heard from Nimbos Forest, though they could not be seen. It was hard to see deeper into the forest when it was day time, but the faint outlines of combee moving around could be soon due to the sheer fact that they were a bright yellow color. All the while there was still cries of the native Pokemon from within the forest. A hyper beam bursted out of the forest roof, sending a couple of trees tumbling down from the blast, sending various of flying type Pokemon flying away from the destruction. A brief shock of electricity soon followed afterwards as many more attacks flew out of the forest.

In the corner of Jay's eyes, he would spot a Scyther being chased by a singular Combee. In spite of it having sharp scythe like claws, it held them up and ran away from the Combee, despite it having wings, and continued off to the western side of the Nimbos Forest.

Standing at the edge of Nimbos town among a crowd of onlookers, Jay could only watch in awe as the loud chorus of buzzing rang through the air; the constant drone of their fluttering wings beating away was so strong that even the ground itself appeared to vibrate in perfect unison Clearly this was out of the norm, the sheer size of this combee swarm unnatural to even the untrained eye; it didn't take a genius to realise that something drastic must have occurred to the frantic pokemon in order to get them into such a state; whether that be a man made issue or something else entirely, Jay could not tell at this point; all he knew was that something vital must have caused this reaction in the first place and whatever that was, it would need to be identified as quickly as possible.

Jay glanced around the crowd of onlookers, hoping to spot the face of somebody familiar that may have also been called out here; though no face in this gathering of people had stood out to him. Instead, he only saw various other trainers and specialist attempting to help out the town. A group of gung-ho men were in the midst of forming some kind of defence line for the town; the partially bald man standing atop a wooden crate attempting to gather trainers whose pokemon held the type advantage over Combee. Others quickly rushed towards various fleeing pokemon; offering immediate first aide for those suffering from an attack; the more severe injuries quickly being carried towards the nearby Nurse. It was sheer pandemonium that only appeared to get worse, as a large hyper beam exploded through the forest canopy, the beam strong enough to disperse a nearby cloud in the sky. Was that the result of friend or foe?, Jay didn't know.

Returning his attention upon the problem at hand, Jay began to observe the forest itself, the bright yellow body of the combee swarm continuing to weave in and out through the dense foliage of the forest, the thousands if not millions of bee like pokemon appearing to act as a single entity rather than individuals. It couldn't be any worse as Jay shook his head in disbelief, the phone call he had received yesterday didn't do much in helping him gauge the scale of the actual problem. With these combee acting on a singular 'frequency' rather then as individuals, Jay knew already that it would be hard to pinpoint any real weakness in the swarm. Of course, Jay held the type advantage with Flint and Hendrix, but even that had its limitations and just by the sheer difference in numbers, the Combee swarm could do quite well in defending themselves by merely outlasting Jay's efforts.

All that being said, Jay did notice how the swarm seemed to remain in the comfort of Nimbos forest, hardly venturing more than a yard or so out of its domain, even when chasing off the other pokemon; many of which continued to flee outwards in every direction; some seeking sanctity with the humans of Nimbos town, whilst others took to the sky. Even the most daring had attempted to jump into the river between Cumulo Moors and the forest, hoping that the water itself would act as a barrier between themself and the rampaging bee's.

From this observation alone, Jay could only begin to guess that there was something in the forest that had drawn them there in the first place, something so important that the combee or to put it frankly the 'worker drones' were now tasked with guarding the forest from anyone and anything else, expelling those that originally resided inside whilst also repelling those that dared to try and enter. The troubling part was the Vespiqueen; if there was an immediate way to get the combee to stop it would be through her; though where in the forest was she?.

Whilst mulling over the situation, a flash of green caught his eye near the outskirts of the forest; a lone Scyther fleeing towards the western side of the forest as a single combee drone chased it. Odd. Most pokemon fleeing the scene seemed to run away from the forest, yet the Scyther itself seemed to remain quite close, skirting the edges so to speak.

Pushing past the crowd of people, Jay quickly ran towards the western side of the forest with his hand on both pokeballs he owned, ready to call out either partner should the need arise.

Ianthe was certain she'd never get used to riding on an Onix, but at least this time, she felt more prepared than usual.

She got off of the Onix, giving its head a pat and offering it a Poffin for its troubles.

"Thank you as always, sweet Onix~." Ianthe waved as the Onix munched down the Poffin and headed on its way. She then turned, hearing the cries of Pokémon near the forest. They sounded so frantic...she hated that, wanted to help them the best that she could. As she made to walk over, a Buneary fell out of a bush, absolutely hurt. She scooped up the poor thing with one arm, digging into her bag with the other, finding a Max Revive.

"Oh, dear baby. I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed, touching the Max Revive to the Buneary's forehead. She'd never seen Combee be so vicious. The Pokémon began to glow for a moment before it came back to consciousness, the Max Revive absorbing into it, and Ianthe placed the bunny Pokémon down after it looked in the air and cried, fearful. Before she could see what had bothered it, the Buneary was already headed away from her, and the swarm. Ianthe looked up at the Combee, wondering what exactly could have riled up the things so much; usually they were so peaceful, so this was quite different. Something must have happened with the Vespiquen....

Ianthe noticed how more and more of the Pokémon were being driven away from the forest and into the town and sky and she wondered if, like back at home in Alola, they had a Moss Rock hidden in there. What could possibly be making the Vespiquen overwork these Combee like this? If not a Moss Rock, maybe something shiny? Bugs did like bright things, after all...it could also be a big Honey tree. Combee and Vespiquen did really love their Honey. Ianthe was lost in thought for a moment, when she noticed a green blur from the corner of her eye. She watched, intrigued, as a Combee followed it with ill intent.

Before she could do anything, she saw another trainer, with red ends to his hair and a black and red outfit - a good look on him, she had to note - running after them. She perked up as she realized that maybe this was one of the trainers that had been sent by Maria to help with this. It was probably a good idea to stay close, just in case some more Combee came and he was surrounded. Though, from the color of his fit...she had a feeling he would have a fire type, so he would be able to hold his own. Still, it didn't hurt to offer some assistance.

And with that, Ianthe nodded as she made her decision, heading in the same direction after the trainer, the Combee, and the Scyther.

Kenneth Vano
The amount of well-earned laziness that was within Kenneth at this current moment was overflowing. When the, 'Let's Go, Articuno, because why not!' mission was over, he thought that he and Maya would get a nice long break. Much to his displeasure, they didn't get that break. At the very least they got a sizable paycheque, despite Mansel being an idiot and losing the bird due to his stupidity, but he didn't even have time to even spend on anything worthwhile. He was hoping to maybe go to a Cafe, maybe even invite Maya over, enjoy the nice morning coffee, and perhaps research about the masterball, but noooooo, instead he was stuck doing more mission that involved the aftermath of their little mission.

With a sigh, he got out of his room and headed over towards Admin Klein's office. He was the one that his next mission was going to issue out his mission. While he hated to admit it, but Admin Klein made him nervous whenever he was around. It was the unearthly presence that exuded despite the smile that retained on his face. The fact that he was also a ghost type specialist made him really made Kenenth dread the upcoming debrief. At the very least, he was no Mansel. The last thing he needed was to be blasted through a wall and be sent over to the infirmary again and suffer another aching bother for next few weeks.

Opening the door, he let himself in. Putting up his professional attitude, he started to get a little pale from the unearthly presence that was radiating from Admin Klein, he faced towards the Admin. "Kenneth, here. What's the mission?" He asked. Then he was hit with the most irritating feeling that he had for the longest time of his life. Along with the unearthly presence that was going on in the room, Admin Klein revealed the details of their mission. Some idiots thought they needed to prove themselves, did they? To 'prove their bravery?' He'd like to watch them faceoversized ice turkey McGee, who was acting like a ballistic Blissey during a blood drive. Catching the item that Admin Klein tossed to him, he let a small frown slip as he looked it over.

The other reason was the strangest sense of deja vu he felt when he heard one of his new colleagues speak. It was even worse that he revealed that he too was a ghost type specialist. Why couldn't he be Maya's partner again? They worked together and produced a good number of results during the missions. Though that didn't matter anymore, he just wanted to get out of the room. "Understood, I'll depart right away." He said as he walked out the room. After closing the door, he let out a soft sigh and left to go and take an Onix Exodus to Cumulos Mors. "Might as well get this over with..."

Damon Arwell

Walking along the length of Route 4, Damon smiled softly as his pokemon ran about with each other. They ran either s bit ahead or lagged a bit behind as they played. Well.... Ren played. He was pretty sure Mercí had just been provoked by her....again. Either way he was amused by their antics, and every now and then they would stop to glance back at him. Almost as if to make sure he was still there.

A light, pleasant trill sounded from his pocket and he went to retrieve his phone. Unfortunately he stumbled trying to grab it and dropped it on the ground. He sighed, looking at the stubs of what once were his pinky, ring, and middle fingers. The doctor said he'd have to adjust gradually, and to not beat himself up over mishaps. Despite that he was getting frustrated that months later he still made this mistake. All because he hadn't take the training part of being here seriously.

He knew the enough intellectually sure, but he hadn't put any effort into actually training Ren or Mercí before the Nacreous mission. Too wrapped up in research and projects. When the time came he was beaten handily by a grunt and then was cut off from the others by a blizzard. He had barely made it to safety in time not to lose his whole damn hands!

In the months since his recovery he had actually put forth training effort. Which Ren was happy to do and Mercí usually derailed even when trying to work honestly. They had both managed to learn at least one or two moves, and he had become much more versed in battling. Though his win loss record was still nothing close to impressive. He also, wouldn't capture a pokemon traditionally still, which has made trying to adapt to varying types a....challenge.

He had set out most recently to Laketown and from there to here on his way to Moonmist Glade. He felt that if he saw the tree there he might get further inspired. But considering his phone hadn't rung in nearly three weeks, and his parents would be working right now it seemed likely this call would detail his plans. He picked the phone up with his other hand and reluctantly answered. He....wasn't sure he recognized the voice but she addressed him by name and gave him a rundown on the mission they'd been asked to do together.

"I'm actually only a short ways down Route 4, I'll double back to meet you."

Hanging up, he had to fight to suppress his excitement. The tree was great he was sure, but he'd loved Onix since he was little. The chance to get up close and personal while rerouting then during mating season was a phenomenal offer! It'd even allow him the chance to work with his newly trained up partners. Ren should especially shine with her new move! He called to them and they ran back down the road excitedly together!

With a few shocks from Mercí thrown in.....

TRUTH REXWORD
He wondered if the others thought he was making a fashion statement with the bandages he was now sporting. His last mission took his toll, and he was terrified that a woman who was hell bent on suplexing him would pop up out of the blue. Still, he had learned a valuable lesson in battle. While he was simply relying on his pokemon to do the heavy lifting, she fought with her pokemon. There were other strategies aside from trading moves with pokemon. Environment, and his own aptitude could be a big factor. Hence he had begun working out with Auto...he was a tough trainer. In fact, Truth was thinking about leaving his gym. Nevertheless, he stood there with his mummy apparel that even extended to his glasses, which had to be repaired soon...but pay and all that.

Truth grimaced at the state of the teacup the admin sipped out of...it was pretty disgusting. Yet, the mission details was even more horrifying. "Ghosts...again," Truth sighed as he had a mental reel of his previous mission that involved ghosts. Monkey's threw things....heavy things....and to make matters worse, one of his teammates, Viktor, appeared to have a fetish; a spiritomb fetish. Was it too much to ask for some normal comrades. Truth was thinking that he might have made a horrible business decision. Despite his complaints, he felt that voicing any displeasure would result in him being crushed by the admin in the time it would take to say mercy. Truth looked toward Omega who seemed to be enamored with the quirky Sableye. No doubt he was looking at the jewels. Omega had healed up quicker than Truth, but he wouldn't be surprised if it was still tired from his confrontation with the Pilloswine.

"...Understood sir," Truth managed to say without sighing (which was a chore in itself). He needed a vacation, and some new glasses. He looked at Kenneth who appeared to be his brethren in normalcy, and then Truth turned his gaze to his creepy partner who had sneaked behind him in such a brotherly fashion. Would he disagree with someone who had left their humanity in their mother's womb? Never. "...Sure, I am really looking forward this." Truth said flatly, even making a half hearted fist pump with an annoyed expression on his face. (I wish the nurse killed me)

This was something Jaylyn had never seen in Galar. A massive swarm of combee was driving their fellow forest natives out of the Nimbos forest. Most of the pokemon complied with the aggressive insects. The stubborn ones were thrown out: even large creatures were sent flying by combined gusts of the swarm. The nurse had to shake off her dizziness quick as she caught sight of something in the air. It was a very unfortunate bewear, careening to the ground after being launched by the swarm of combee. Its fearful cry grew louder and louder as its large body threatened to flatten Jaylyn and DeeDee.

“DeeDee, Protect!”

The indeedee nodded as she raised her hands in the air. A protective bubble formed around the two. Though somewhat transparent, the protective layer was strong enough to resist the falling pokemon. The bewear bounced right off the layer and landed into a bush on the other side of the route. The nurse rose to her feet to check on the potential patient, but the humbled bewear quickly fled. At least the pokemon was OK.

Jaylyn looked towards the forest to attempt to see anything beyond trees and angry combee. It was too dense to make anything out, not to mention they were quite a distance away. The relative silence was broken when a hyper beam broke through the canopy. The nurse and her indeedee stepped back, startled at the fearsome attack. Jaylyn looked over to DeeDee, who looked back and shook her head.

“Don’t worry,” the nurse reassured her pokemon. “No one has any business wandering in that forest now. Even the strongest pokemon can’t pass. You would have to be insane to trek through- oh you have got to be kidding me.”

Jaylyn caught sight of Jay and Ianthe making a beeline into Nimbos forest. She had the pleasure of working with the latter in Nacreous Glaciers, and she at least recognized Jay’s face from the mayor’s mansion. It seemed they were attracted to dangerous situations. What madness would drive them into the woods? Of course, it was the same for all trainers. The sense of danger, adventure, and possible high reward led many young people to do stupid things. In this case, they appeared to be chasing an even more fearsome bug pokemon. Ironic, that they would brave a swarm of bees to confront another bug that had swords for hands. The layers of danger this involved irritated Jaylyn. She meant to confront the two and give them a piece of her mind.

“Nurse Joy! Nurse Joy! They said you were on the way and you’re just in time!”

Jaylyn turned to the small girl, a resident of nearby Nimbos Town. Her pigtails were cute, but her face reflected the urgency of the situation.

“Some of the wild pokemon wandered into town. A lot of them are hurt, but they’re too scared for us to get close enough. You have to help!”

“Of course,” Jaylyn nodded. As she followed girl into town, she looked back to the forest. Jay and Ianthe had disappeared within, their fate out of her hands for now.

The town was indeed pandemonium. Central to the chaos, a stoutland’s butt was sticking out through someone’s house, a failed attempt to charge through the building. At the other end, an angry Pikachu was lashing out at concerned citizens. The mouse pokemon’s attacks caused damage to a telephone line, disabling communication out of town. Then there were the injured among the trainer’s pokemon who failed to squash the combee invasion. The nurse had her work cut out for her, but this was her element. She grabbed a super potion from her pack and got to work. She had to work quickly if she was to catch up and get help for Jay and Ianthe.

“Alright, DeeDee. Let’s begin with the most serious…”

Fliathri sat in the room with a small bit of interest as he watched the various objects float while Himiko(Sneasel) giggled, staring the zombie like Chimecho in the room with a crack in it, before walking up, and tapping her forehead, daring it to read her mind. It tried, forgetting the darktyping. Floating around with the various psy pokemon, Fliathri's Hoppip (Ghengis) made a happy cry, grabbing a piece of the map and trying to help, before being dragged into the construction of Mt. Regi, ending up as a part of the plastic pieces assembled, its tophat making the summit quite by accident. He tried to be still to be helpful until Jones nearly stepped on him, causing hte pokemon to panickedly flail inside.

Fliathri himself was currently in a cast, over his right arm, forcing his cane on the left. Himiko... hadn't been happy at the result at the Pokecenter rumble. At least it had only been a minor cliff. And Ghenghis had even gotten help!

At the mention of 'Flame Cavern', Ghenghis flailed more upset, and Himiko just slumped and held her head straight back as she mumbled a 'nya...'

With the meeting dismissed, the map disassembled and Ghenghis was free. Walking with his two comrades, he twirled his cane.

"Well verily, it doth seems our dear admin is a little, how shall we say, still playing with some cards missing from his deck? A cracked teapot? My comrades here seem a little put off by a fire cavern, though I cannot understand why. Why, a little heat has never hurt any. In any case we shall endeavor heartily to that which is our job. What opinions hath the both of you regarding this mission? Tis a good profit at the very least. "

He tried passing his cane to his cast, only to drop it. Ghengis picked it up happily, and Fliathri let him fly with it.

"Well... fire stones aside, perhaps its a time to catch new comrades? I do believe we are missing a little bit in the muscle department. Something large would be nice. Hmm... though my knowledge of pokemon is... sadly lacking. Maya, would you perhaps know if any large pokemon perhaps might like a place such as the flame caverns?"

Himiko eyed him wearily when he mentioned new 'comrade' before Ghengis floated down and lent the ruthless Sneasel the tophat. She rolled her eyes and continued, before adjusting the tophat to not fall off.

"Anything you search for Mika? Your name is Mika, right? I do not believe I've ever had the pleasure of working with you."

Fliathri extended a hand for a handshake.

Maya Kauffman
Listening to Admin Jones carry on in his speech, Maya quietly drummed her fingers on her thigh, hidden behind the Vulpix on her lap. Most of the admins left her feeling uneasy and Jones was far from an exception to that. Not that she could blame him for being upset with Mansel practically vanishing. The Chasm job had taken a huge toll on Blackleaf as a whole, their leader especially from the way he looked when she made it to the cavern. Getting to command his Salamance had been exhilarating.

And nervewracking.

Maya wasn't sure what had been worse, the fact Rong Vang was practically blind or Mansel still managing to glare at the back of her head despite being semiconscious.

A faint smile played on the redhead's lips as Ghengis managed to get caught inside the model of Mount Regi. Fliathri seemed to have a knack for attracting... unique pokemon. She lightly scratched Kurama behind the ear, sparing a glance at Asuka's pokeball. I'm really not any better in that regard I guess. It had taken some wrangling to get the little gremlin to stay inside it for the meeting. The last thing Maya needed was her Noibat stealing another Admin's lunch.

Kurama stretched, perking up at the mention of a fire stone. "A whole mine of fire stones, huh?" She shrugged, getting to her feet and taking the homing beacon. Jones was right, it definitely had her attention. There wasn't much chance to say anything else before the three grunts were chased out of the office.

Maya quietly hummed in agreement with Fliathri's assessment on the admin. But could only raise an eyebrow at his inability to understand why his pokemon were so upset. "You- you know your pokemon are both weak to fire right?" She sighed as he switched topics to the mission at hand. "It's definitely a good profit, elemental stones are expensive. Especially out here in the Valle.

"I've noticed,"
Maya muttered under her breath at Fliathri's admittance to lack of knowledge on Pokemon. "Uh... I don't know, Growlithe's the first that comes to mind. When evolved into Arcanine it's a good several inches taller than me." She started fiddling with her pokedex, trying to read past the cracked screen. "I'm sure there's more..."
