-insert meetup between Damon and Lilinoe beforehand -
AllHailDago AllHailDago Silvaine Silvaine

The two would meet up nearby an outpost for, ironically, the Onix Express, Vera Valle's to go to travel system. A man with a rather rough looking cowboy hat, five o'clock shadow, and a friendly smile would meet both of them.

"Why, would ya look at that? Ya'll must be the trainers Ms Maria was talking 'bout. She's paid for your fares and everything. We won't be able to take ya'll all the way, it's a bit of, well, er, sensitive time of the year for our ol' boys here."

He slapped a nearby goliath of a rock snake who roared happily, reaching down to literally pick up Damon by the back of the neck, and surprisingly gently put him on the back of its neck onto a saddle. It then offered tis tail for Lillinoe to climb up.

"Now, here's a trick. Onix aren't shy. Like, at all. They ain't in the mood if they ain't all the mood. Kinda a flash mob. Makes this time a year real dangerous in certain parts here 'round. Thankfully they always got an alpha. Well, two alpha's. If ya guess prom king and queen, ya'd be right. Just get them to move, and the rest'll follow. Now, uh, they're real active at the evenin', so maybe do this in the mornin'? Know ya'll didn't ask for my two cents, but well, there it is. Oh, and Steelix tend to be much more... selective, so ya ain't like to run into any. Now, happy travels!! Hiya!"

He slapped the onix, and with a roar, it was off, twisting and turning over the wilderness that was Vera Valle. The trip was bumpy as it ever was, but the seats seemed to be improving somewhat. If it weren't for the occasional violent jolt, one could almost sleep on it.

The heavy mist that surrounded Mt. Regi wasn't much later, a much quieter landscape greeting them, only occasionally broken up by battles of behemoths. Mt. Regi was for the strong, and natural rule, and so the only fights there were big ones. From the cliffs, various pokemon looked down at the traveling onix with the two trainers, but gave little more than a glance. A particularly fierce Tyrannitar even gave nod to them, its back blown up by a rare but mostly natural mega evolution in the wild.

Finally, they got to the earth-shaking, and in the distant miss, the outline of the observatory could be seen. Another seismic shake and part of a nearby cliff broke off.

A roar could be heard as the same Tyrannitar approached, walking straight past them, its shoulder spikes near toppling Onix as it made its way to the cliff... and began to pick up the broken edges of the cliff and slam them back into place.

Onix dropped the two off and began to slither back to its station in Nimbos Forest. The Onix were in the east where the mist was a little thinner, and the pokemon less fierce some. The tyranitar finished, folding its arms and inspecting its restructured cliff with a nod.

Chaotic City & Nature
As it would turn out, to no ones surprise, when Jay and Ianthe entered the forest they see many Combee frantically flying past each other. Their many faces surveyed the area as if they had lost something important. Much to their displeasure they spotted something more unsightly, Jay and Ianthe. One of the Combee buzzed angrily, alerting the ones that were chasing the Scyther. Two of them turning around to assist their comrade while the other chased after the Scyther. Together they combined into each other into the shape of a bee comb. Now buzzing angrily at the trainers, a soft green glow emitted off and they unleashed their attack on the trainers.

Struggle Bug

The emitted aura turned into a swarm of bee like spirits that flew towards the trainers. In one direction, more Combee would be heard coming towards their location. It would of been a surprise if it wasn't for the fact that the Scyther was creating quite the disturbance in the other direction. With only one Combee after the Scyther, it actually gathered the courage to fight back!

By flailing its scythe like arms wildly.

CUT CUT CUT

Several trees fell down from the onslaught of slashes. Each tumbling over the next as the Scyther cut through each and every poor tree trunk that stood in range of the panicked Scyther. The Combee that was chasing after the Scyther, much to its unaware dismay as it was too busy closing its eyes and cutting down everything in its path, got scared and ran away from the rampaging Scyther. It was most likely going to get help in order to deal with the Scyther, since there was no way such a powerful, fearful creature could be defeated by a singular Combee.

Back in the town, the Nurse Joy that was in charge of Nimbos Town was yelling out orders. "Everyone! Get in the Pokemon Center!" She called out. Her faithful companion, a Blissey, rushed into the chaotic town and went over to a kid who was stuck in the debris of his house. Using its miniscule strength, Blissey sent the debris into the sky as it lifted and tossed. Tending to the kid, it would soon find itself being confronted by an angry Ursauring that got hit by a rather huge rock that got hit by orbit.

In another part of town a group of wild pikachus would gather. Together they unleashed a discharge to anyone who got close to them. Each and every time there was a discharge the next discharge would grow in an exponential rate. Light flared on and off as the electric rats growled at anyone who would dare approach their small little group.

Then the next one took the cake. A shiftry had appeared on the other side of the Pikachus. It was standing atop the building and throwing its hands around blowing down the already weaken houses with the winds that were would be created from the flaps of it leaves. A lone scared Paras would be hiding from the Shiftry by hiding underneath the debris that the Shiftry would be standing it on.

More and more people would be caught in the onslaught of chaos that was dealt by the wild Pokemon. People were stuck in rubble creating by Shiftry, prevented from running by the horde of pikachus, and the angry Ursauring, that was close by the Pokemon Center, who was now charging at the Blissey.

Ianthe continued to follow the trainer through the forest, keeping a close eye on the Scyther and the Combee. Man, they were so much faster than she expected them to be! Thankfully she could still keep up enough, the trainer's ombre hair and outfit with the same color in his hair making him to spot.

Unfortunately, it seemed like the Combee had the same idea. Ianthe heard a buzz behind her and, before her eyes, she saw two of the three Combee following after the Scyther turn around and notice her and the other trainer.

Oh, boy.

Ianthe's head flipped around as the two Combee went behind her, spotting the third Combee, and watched them form into a larger honeycomb. Oh, oh no. Ianthe sped up as quickly as she could, shoving the trainer to the side with one hand, out of the way of the incoming attack, and with the other, she tossed out a Poké Ball to release her Niva.

"Niva, Hail, please, sweetheart!"

The Snorunt came out of the Poké Ball right after the Struggle Bug attack, singing a loud chord, before her body began to glow blue. Ianthe was hit with the Struggle Bug, sent careening forward into one of the slashed down trees in the Scyther's path.

Before the combined Combee, a thick fog appeared, and suddenly, balls of hail began to come from the fog, onto the attacking Combee.

Ianthe, luckily, didn't hit her head too hard on the tree, but she did let out a soft groan, rubbing a spot where she'd connected with it. She picked a leaf out of her hair with a sigh before turning to see if the trainer, and if Niva, were both alright.

The ride to the moors was surprisingly calm, giving the group to chat among themselves, or ride in silence, perhaps play with their pokemon the way there. There was a slight disturbance of Combee and bees along the way, but they seemed preoccupied with trainers and left the group alone. Better bait there was none.

Once they came close though, the Onix would stop, complaining loudly about the composition of the ground as they crossed over the bridge from Nimbos forest into the Cumulo Moors. To say it was 'wet' was a huge understatement. The ground was swollen with water, a green film of muck rising to the surface. A road slightly elevated did go to town, but the coordinates led into the muck itself. There was slight mercy as knots of tree roots made a semi passable path the group could walk across without getting wet, though a similiar green film covered. It was probably for the best as the Onixes began to buck and tried to throw the grunts off. Onix Express at its finest.

Deeper into the swamp, an unearthly hum began to sound around them. The moors were getting darker and more misty. Occasional will-o-wisps of light danced across the distance, none of them close enough to observe directly. The plant life almost seemed more threatening than helpful. Several Phantumps floated past. Some circled the group curiously, but ran as a Trevenant shook its fist at them, then seemed to fade back into a normal tree, blending in with its environment as much as the tree right next to the lot.

The first clue would come as on a branch, a ripped cloth with a blackleaf pin on it. A little further on, a piece of paper could be seen pinned to a tree. The paper read. "Meet back here in an hour." They had, apparently, not met back there in an hour. Distantly ghostly lights flickered and the hum grew louder.

Entering the lush foliage of the forest, Jay sprinting after the Scyther had quickly managed to get himself into the thick of things. Thick trees all around him and with the town now obscured by the dense foliage, Jay was soon overwhelmed by the deep resonating 'buzz' of the finite combee swarming all around them, the deep rumble emanating off their wings strong enough to cause the ground itself to shiver.

It was minutes into the chase that Jay had found himself out numbered as two of the Combee pursuing the Scyther had ceased their chase in favor of confronting their own pursuer head on; the two grunts joining up with a third to form a large honeycomb shape. Confident that their 'bigger' combined form could do the job,the trio had begun their counter attack, a soft green glow escaping from each of their opened mouths and forming bee like spirits that seemingly spiralled towards Jay. Struggle bug, a bug type attack that Jay was familiar with having seen it in action back at the trainer school. Beyond the three 'fused' combee, Scyther could be seen flailing about; his limbs effortlessly slicing through the tree's around it.

Knowing he had the type advantage, Jay began to slow his pace down and reach for Flint's pokeball, all the while unaware of the fast approaching danger. No, it wasn't the struggle bug that he had to concern himself with, rather it was the fast approaching trainer whom had been chasing after them; the noise of her approach drowned out by the chaotic buzz of the combee.

"Flint.." he began, fingers clasping at the pokeball.

With a hand on Monferno's pokeball, Jay was on the verge of releasing his trusted partner to intercept the attack when he felt a strong force from behind. Instead of releasing Monfeno, Jay now found himself in free fall to one side as a flash of black and white hair rushing past him momentarily caught his vision before face planting into the ground.

"What the hell?!" he grunted, recovering from his fall, palms pushing against the earth as he forced himself up. Jay had looked up just in time to see Ianthe fly backwards, her body taking the brunt of the Struggle bug attack just as a flash of red had escaped from her very own pokeball.

Appearing from the red glow, a snorunt materialised into form quickly following through with her trainers command as she gathered up energy and begun to shimmer blue. All around Jay, the temperature seemingly begun to plummet as the cold fog took shape around the combee, globules of ice begining to assault the bee pokemon. As combee remained trapped under the falling ice, Jay quickly forced himself to his feet and rushed over towards the fallen Ianthe.

"Not much fun being forced onto the floor is it?" he asked rhetorically as he held out a hand towards her. "I'm assuming you got called here too"

Jaylyn’s original strategy was to start with the most dire situation. Too bad everyone was in an equal need. An ursaring was threatening the pokemon center after suffering a bludgeoning from a boulder. She wasn’t worried about the blissey: Jaylyn knew they were trained to handle all kinds of tough pokemon. The potential battle would block citizens from evacuating. Even then, a pack of Pikachu and a shiftry were wreaking havoc, trapping people and pokemon in the rubble created from the rampage. The town needed an army of trainers. All they had was a traveling nurse (and a resident nurse as well!).

Jaylyn had no way to brute force her way through this predicament, nor did she desire to. Instead she recalled to her training, specifically a seminar led by a pokemon ranger. The nurse learned that pokemon weren’t inherently evil; they were often more scared and confused than people. In fact, many pokemon can be quite willing to help people given the right encouragement. She was counting on this being true in Nimbos as well.

“I got a plan, DeeDee, I promise,” Jaylyn recalled the indeedee back to her pokeball. She immediately switched to her Galarian ponyta Floss. The tiny horse was bouncing around in anticipation of battle. Jaylyn raised a steady hand to calm the overeager pokemon.

“Not this time,” Jaylyn said to Floss. “See the back of that bear creature’s head? After my whistle, take care of it.”

Floss nodded in understanding as Jaylyn ran towards the ursaring. She was not familiar with such a creature on Galar; she hoped this maneuver wouldn’t send her to the hospital. Jaylyn put her fingers to her mouth and emitted a shrill whistle to get the ursaring’s attention.

“Hey!” Jaylyn doubled down on getting the bear pokemon to look to her. She glanced over to her approaching ponyta as he prpped his powerful psychic move.

“Heal Pulse!”

Rather than barrage the massive bear with confusion, Floss let loose with a healing aura directly to the ursaring’s head. After suffering such a blow earlier, the ursaring must have been suffering from a throbbing headache. With the symptoms hopefully alleviated, Jaylyn raised her hands in front of herself, showing no weapons or pokeballs to fear.

“We helped you,” Jaylyn spoke softly to the ursaring. One hand motioned towards the the angry mob of Pikachu and shiftry.

“Can you help us in return? I think a mighty roar would suffice.”

Floss stood next to Jaylyn in case this bargain went sour.

Fliathri blinked in surprise. "Why, I knew Ghenghis here was quite... unfond of the flames, but Himiko? I would think ice and fire would cancel out. Good thing to know before a battle, eh?"

He shrugged. Before having a companionship with pokemon he'd never been too interested. But he'd felt oddly happy, even with a broken arm and a demon of a partner. She'd still listened in the fight afterall. And Ghenghis he was growing quite fond of, looking up as the hoppip floated around happily, before accidentally bumping into a door frame, and falling to the floor. Himiko snarled, before picking up the pokemon, putting the hat on its head, and then serving it like a volleyball into the air. She tossed him his cane back.

"Soon we'll have another to our merry little band!"

Himiko sneered, folding her arms displeased. He shook his head.

"I suppose, though bigger the better. You know, I've actually visited Flame Cavern before. My parents were... insistent I be well explored as a tyke. Father's Beartic was unfond of the place, so we didn't get much farther than the entrance. It'd be a one up in and of itself if I can get to a lower level."

He held out a hand, asking for a handshake.

"Will you help a poor sinner one up his parents? Even if we should just stumble upon the firestones at the entrance? In exchange, hmm... I wonder. I would like to say I would be indebted to you, but 'owing you one' hardly seems a suitable recompense."

He rubbed his chin trying to think of a suitable reward.

---------------------------------------------------------

1580703136667.png

The ride to the flame caverns was long and arduous, yet the pair would get to see a majority of the valley through it, with all of its splendors along the way.

A rather surprisingly battle at the exit to Lakedown between a Whiscash and a quagsire left the earth reeling from the amount of earthquakes, though the two quickly dove into the mud at the approaching trainers. Or rather, Whiscash dove into the mouth, and Quagsire stood perfectly still as mud flew over it as if it was disguised. It seemed to forget to breath from the extreme gasp heard after about a minute.

Across Mt. Regi, a wisp shot infront of them, nearly decking Maya, before the wisp squeed and got up from the ground. A dreepy. Running back to where it came from a dragapult roared, before firing into the air, more yells of jubilations as they reached the zenith of their flight and exploded like fireworks, a display put on for the travelers with the fainting ghosts falling like rain around them.

The ring of fire, despite its name, seemed almost cold at first approach, a flake falling at the pair's Onix's head. At first it seemed like snow, but the gray tint to it spoke of a different origin. Soot. In the distance, a volcano erupted in a spray of ash, covering the area, turning it dark as night despite the time of day. Thankfully Onix seemed to know the way. Various flickering lights of fire pokemon's flames could be seen lighting the way, growing brighter and brighter as they go more intense, finally a charmeleon blowing a flamethrower a little close to comfort above them in the air.

Glass rained down in a show of snow, and another Charmeleon looked up, before shaking its head, hiding its face behind its tail in what could only be described as a blush.

Another flamethrower and shower of glass and it squee'd, running at it, grabbing its claw, and dragging the proud dragon down into a dark path away from the trainers.

Finally a volcano stood infront of them, continually dripping hot lava down its surface. The ground was porous and dangeorus, veins of magma running under the pair in glowing rivers that were as deadly as they were pretty.

After Damon agreed to meet up with her, Lilinoe made her way to their agreed upon meeting place; the Onix Express. She didn't see any sign of him at first, so she seated herself on provided bench, humming to herself while her salandit decided to snooze under the sunlight. That was how Damon would find them later.

Lilinoe didn't know how long she waited and patiently scanned for his figure among passing crowd who came for ride like she did. It was only when she saw him looking around that she realized that she hadn't given him her picture. Oh dear, she thought over her blunder.

"Heeey! Over here!" Lilinoe waved and called when she saw him to rectify her mistake. "You are Damon, right? It's me, Lilinoe!"

o o o

Their ride arrived soon after, the driver recognized them immediately and that was generous of Ms. Maria to pay for their fare.

"I have heard, it is their... ah, season," Lilinoe nodded as she listened to his explanation.

Upon seeing Damon being lifted, she could help the laugh that escaped her. "Aww," she cooed, "Friendly fellow, isn't it?" She admired the well trained pokemon that offered her way to climb up. It was always a treat to see enormous pokemon being gentle. There were a certain charm to it. She patted its side as she climbed, "Thank you."

Then, they were off.

Lilinoe liked it, despite its swaying and bumping motions. She chatted with Damon during the trip. "Are you a local?" she had asked curiously, "I come from Alola," she shared. "That's where I got Kini from, she is my starter," she allowed Damon to get a good look of her. The salandit itself hissed contentedly from the attention, flicking her tongue out and inspecting Damon with her snout. "I raised her from egg, so she is used to people," Lilinoe said with some pride.

On and on, Lilinoe tried to engage him in small talk. She talked of how she got into Vera Valle and was willing to answer Damon's question in regard to her home region if he asked.

She cut herself off when the rumbling and earthquake started, knowing that they were approaching their destination. Mount Regi loomed ominously in front as they passed by, the mist made it hard to see. But she didn't miss the giant tyrannitar that appeared, thankfully friendly as it greeted them with a nod to her relief.

o o o

They were alone once the Onix Express left.

"Do you want to make plan first?" she asked. They had never worked together before that it sounded like a good idea to her. "Kini here, knew fire and poison attacks, along with poison gas and sweet scent. She excels in long range offense," she offered. "I don't have any other pokemon," she added, somewhat sheepishly. A little embarrassed that she hadn't caught anyone else.

TRUTH REXWORD

Truth did his best to contain his bodily shivers during their trip on the Onix. If it weren't for the circumstances, this would have been a pleasant trip. For all his love for technology, nothing beat a first class ride on an Onix....who was apparently a brat. "*sigh* Onix express at its finest," Truth said, trying to shake the feeling that something majorly meta had just occurred for whatever reason. Truth and Omega hopped down to avoid the repercussions of having an Onix throw you off its back, yet that might have been the more pleasant option as Truth and Omega held on to each other (Truth did most of the holding because...reasons that offend Beldums). "G-guys we should get g-going," Truth said pushing up his glasses in an attempt to look stoic and unbothered to no avail. He was certain Viktor would start bathing in the swamp just before breaking out into a creepy song and dance number. What Kenneth would do was anyone's guess. Meanwhile Truth was ducking and dodging unneccesarily as the Phantumps floated by. They didn't really scare Truth, rather, they always gave off some odd sense of foreboding, and if a Trevenant was any indicator of things to come then they were probably going to join the new "leafs" in the after.

"WellIdon'tseethemletsgoback," Truth said all at once as he tried to officially label the mission a failure. TO his dismay, Omega persisted through the darkness, eventually letting the trainers know he had found the scarf.

"...Betrayed by my own pokemon…well, it looks like they were definitely here," Truth said to the other trainers while ignoring Omega's attempts to lead him to the piece of paper further along. There was no way he was going to continue a step further without the others. (maybe we could just turn in this cloth and hold a funeral...)

Maya Kauffman

"I mean... fire melts ice..." Maya studied Fliathri for a moment, "You took on an entire group of trainers back at the Chasm and won... I would have thought you'd know that kind of thing already." Not that she was an expert on type matchups by any stretch of the imagination. She knew the basics, but there were plenty of weird, rare type matchups that she couldn't keep track of.

She opted to quietly watch the way his pokemon reacted to the idea of adding a new member to their ranks. Ghengis didn't really react much to the suggestion, though smacking into a doorframe and being launched back up in the air probably still had the pokemon dazed. Himiko, however, was visibly displeased at the notion. Much like Kurama had been with the sudden two additions to her own team. Ren, they'd been waiting on for what felt like ages. Asuka... had been a surprise for the both of them. Hell, she'd caught the pokemon partly out of spite for the havoc she'd wrecked.

But they were starting to come together more as a team. I need to work on training them more.

She was brought out of her musing by Fliahtri's voice, listening to him recall visiting the cavern once in the past before he turned to her. "Will you help a poor sinner one-up his parents? Even if we should just stumble upon the firestones at the entrance?"

A slight smirk danced across Maya's features at that. Prove family wrong and surpass them? She took his hand, "Yeah, I think I could get behind that."

As they witnessed the battle on their way out of town, Maya was quietly thankful all three of her pokemon were back in their balls. Otherwise, Kurama likely would have been diving for cover under her at the sight of the massive wave of mud. Her memories of the events back in Foehn Tunnels were hazy still, but she vaguely recalled the small Vulpix nearly being knocked out by a similar strike back there.

Plus the arduous task of getting all the caked mud from his coat after the fact.

Grey eyes took in Mount Regi as they drew near. The most powerful pokemon in the entire Valle lived at the peak, with no shortage of powerful pokemon also calling it home. She and her team had no chance of conquering it as they were now, even if they lucked out and didn't encounter- "Eep!" An admittedly undignified yelp escaped Maya as a blur of a pokemon barely missed her.

She blinked at the small pokemon, heart still in her ears from the sudden surprise, as it got back up with a squeal and scurried away. It wasn't long before several more of them were zipping through the air, exploding in a shower of light and dazed pokemon. Maya laughed despite herself, they were clearly having fun even if they were knocking themselves out in the process.

Finally, the Ring of Fire came into sight. The ash-covered land was paradise for many fire types. Not so much for humans. Or Fliathri's pokemon for that matter. Maya winced and leaned away slightly from the heat the courting charmeleon's flamethrower added to the already hellish temperatures.

Hopping down from Onix's back, Maya stretched with a groan. Convenient as the Onix Express may have been, it was far from a comfortable ride. "Well, at least we made it without any trouble." Maya released her pokemon, Kurama stretching before padding around without much complaint, Asuka shrieked angrily at the oppressive heat, and Ren blinked up at Ghengis before forming a small orb of water between her hands and splashing it on the pokemon.

Life Dew

She turned to Fliathri, "You remember the way?"

Chaotic City & Nature
The Usauring looked confused for a second. A soothing wave banished the annoying, aching pounding in its head. Clarity soon filled its mind and started to look around, eye soon spotting a spot of pink and a small mammal right next to her. It stood still, listening to her request. A few moments went by before it turned to look over towards the chaos and straightened its posture way up. Filling its lungs with air and bellowed out.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR"

The fur on the back of the pikachu stood on their ends as they heard the roar. A sense of fear striked them as they looked at the Usuaring. More scared than frightened, they all ran away from the town, down the town and into the road. The Shiftry that stood on top of the debris, after hearing the roar, deciding it wasn't worth it causing anymore trouble. Jumping down from the debris it disappeared into the forest.

Seeing that its job was done, the Usuaring too left.

The Blissey managed to get the kid out from the debris and was carrying him back to the Pokemon Center. All was good except that the roar also had some consequences.

The roar drowned out Nurse Joy Of Nimbos Town calls and caused the civilians to run around frantically. A group of three Togepi were all crowded in a corner and up until now where just cowering in their own little corner until the roar came. All three of them used Metronome.

Rock Slide

In the northern part from the town, rocks fell from the sky. Multiple people and Pokemon were injured by the rocks. Some were even trapped beneath the rocks. A few were even heading towards the direction of Jayleen and her Galar-Ponyta

Horn Leech

The second Togepi grew out horns and threw them out at a Feebas that was flopping around. Normally, this would not be a fatal attack due Togepi being in its infant stage but... It was a Feebas. A Pokemon that had the same defenses of Magikarp and was a water type. Needless to say, it wasn't flopping much anymore after it was impaled by the branch horns.

Aqua Ring

The Third Togepi surrounded itself in an aqua ring! Yea, nothing much happened here.

Chaos erupted as civilians ran around in fear and hysteria. While most of the danger was gone, the people still needed to calm down from the attacks. In the distance there were more screams of Pokemon from the Combee infested forest.

Toogee Toogee

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chunks of hail were hurtled towards the Combee. They were not strong enough to hold onto their position and broke apart from their usual wall formation. They cried as they fell into the ground. Unfortunately for the duo, trio if you counted the Snorunt, Niva's little hail attack alerted the entire forest of Combee to their location. More Combee swarmed towards their location and spotted the trainers.

Buzzing rather angrily, they looked amongst each other and nodded. Soon they started to gather up. Each one of them stacking themselves on top of each other and even behind each other. More and more Combee joined them as the formed one of their ultimate formations.

What stood before Ianthe and Jay was a Combee Saxophone.

Together they all resounded within each other.

Bug Buzz

The Combee Saxophone unleashed a horrible sound of Combee and it erupted through the mouth of the Jaxophone. A green, visible, wave of sound was launched at the Snorunt for its attack on the Combee.

Scyther was still panicking against the singular Combee and was chopping more trees down. Somewhere in the forest, pressure grew.

Kenneth Vano
Kenneth wasn't bothered by much to their bumpy Onix trip to Cumulos Mors. He was more distracted by the fact that he would have to deal with ghost type pokemon. Sure the moaning and groaning of the Onix was a bit loud, but he had listened to far much worse stuff back at the ranch. That and he was distracting himself by petting rhe cold steel ingot that was Magnemite that on the seat right next to him. Ever since Mandrawl hit his evolution, he was a like a teen in puberty, he wouldn't be quiet one second. Some part of Kenneth missed the small purple mammal but he was overall proud that Mandrawl evolved into a Loudred. At least Magnemite wouldn't be that much of a hassle when he evolved. When he looked up a picture of a Magneton it was just three Magnemites attached to each other. Seeing as how Magnemite acted right now, he probably wouldn't cause that much trouble.

When he came out of the Onix Express, he just eyed at the rather haunted looking swamp around them. The swamp, the air, and the presence of this entire general area had a rather unearthly vibe. So much so that Kenneth wanted to turn back around, enter the Onix Express, and leave the place. Though he came here for his job so he was obligated to do whatever he had to do here. "Sheesh, why me of all people." Kenneth muttered as he scratched the back of his head. Milutin was floating right next to him, glancing around the place in observation.

He slightly paled when he saw some Phantrumps but the place was too bad... Yet. Kenneth cringed as he stepped onto the ground and his foot immediately sank into the ground. He shivered as water seeped into his shoe and he pulled it back out immediately. "Great, just great." An imaginary paper full of complaints began to fill itself out as Kenneth tried to get onto more solid footing. Then he saw the Blackleaf badge and the message, then he heard the distant hums of ghastly lights. Paling a little more white, he just turned to his partners. Truth seemed to be varying a little better than him and Viktor... He was probably going to have a field day.

Taking a deep breath, he just turned towards where the Beldum was heading. While he would of been excited to see such a rare species in front of him, right now wasn't the time. "Let's just get this over..." Kenneth said as he moved foward.

Ianthe's eyes were fixated on the effect of the hailstorm, thanks to Niva. It seemed to be working. Ice and fire types were good on bug Pokémon, so if her assumption that this trainer had fire type Pokémon was proven correct, they would definitely be able to handle this.

"Not much fun being forced onto the floor is it?"

Ianthe looked up in surprise to see the trainer she'd been thinking about. As he held out a hand to her, she smiled, the warmth reaching her eyes as she took his hand and got off the ground. "I'm assuming you got called here too." He stated that instead of making it a question; so that made her feel somewhat better. He was definitely a partner here. Good.

"It really isn't, but I find myself doing this a lot in the name of the greater good, you know? You're right. My name's Ianthe, it's nice to meet y--"

The buzzing had suddenly gotten much louder. Ianthe's eyes moved from the other trainer's as she watched the Combee gather. "--Oh." The Combee formed a...saxophone? What even--

Before Ianthe could say anything else, the Combee, formed into said brass instrument, sent out a clashing sound, a green energy also sent barreling towards Niva.

Now, Ianthe recognized that. That was definitely a Bug Buzz.

"Niva, try to dodge that!" Ianthe called out, and the Snorunt did make an attempt. Unfortunately it wasn't enough, and she was hit, letting out a cry as she crashed into the ground due to the attack.

Ianthe immediately let go of the trainer's hand as she ran to check on Niva. She noted the hail was still falling, thankfully, which meant Niva wasn't fainted. She confirmed her thoughts when the Snorunt sniffled in her arms instead of being unconscious. "Hey, hey. You're doing great, can you get up?" Ianthe coaxed her, letting go, and Niva, seemingly fueled from the feeling of being upset, stood up and began yelling at the Combee.

While that was going on, Ianthe looked over to the other trainer, slightly amused. "Do you possibly have any firepower for these pests?" She hoped her implication was enough.

The moors continued to hum with an odd spiritual note, that was just dissonant enough to be disturbing. It made the ghost pokemon excited, but to the humans (mostly likely), it would seem like just as the rhythm was found, it broke. More paths saw torn clothing, and even a wallet was found. It had ₱35,000 in it, and surprisingly a trainer license. Most blackleaf grunts didn't tend to bother those, for obvious reasons.

As someone might be reading it, a hideous and boistrous laughter filled the air. The laughter was deep, and haunting, and much as a cliche'd evil laugh would sound like. From above, a creature, clothed in a dull yellow cloth swooped, landing at all of the groups feet, measuring in at a tall one foot tall. The figure laughed again, and then bowed infront of the group with its stick of a tail. It was a Mimikyu. An odd one at that, as it had a monocle on, and apparently was masterful at bowing at least.

At the end of its tail a bandana hung. The mimikyu made no motion to move, other than nudging its tail forward a bit more, urging someone to take it. As soon as someone would take it, it began to trail off, before letting loose the laugh again, and motioning with its tail for them to follow down a path that led at least upwards out the swamp muck itself. It stopped infront of a few stopped vines, and crawled through, before looking back, and realizing the vines were obstructing the trainers. Its monocle over the pikachu eye readjusted with a shadow tendril from below, and it waited for the group to find a way through.

Jaylyn was relieved when the ursaring obliged her request to scare off the aggressive creatures terrorizing the town. Standing behind the ursaring, she and her ponyta remained calm as the bear pokemon let loose on the others (she had to cover her ears though). A mighty roar cleared out the pokemon, just as the nurse was hoping for. As the bear followed the others out of town, Jaylyn waved to it in thanks as she rushed over to the previously occupied debris.

The nurse was fairly certain there was something beneath the rubble where the shiftry stood. She feared a person was trapped there, as was the case in many of the surrounding buildings. The nurse immediately got to the ground to look in the crevice. What she saw was not human but the beady eyes of a paras.

Jaylyn had only seen this pokemon in medical textbooks, renowned for their potent spores. It must have been one of the other refugees from the combee uprising. She couldn’t assess the injuries on the creature, so the nurse had to coax the creature out.

“Hey, little one,” Jaylyn said to the Paras. “I’m a nurse, I can help you. Are you able to get out?”

Before she could get an answer, Floss neighed in warning. Jaylyn was oblivious to the chain reaction that the ursaring’s roar had caused. Rocks were raining down from the sky on terrified civilians and were headed straight for Jaylyn and her pokemon. In reflex, the nurse returned her Galarian ponyta back to its pokeball. With no time to get to cover, Jaylyn rolled into a fetal position, protecting the two pokeballs with her body. Rocks rained down upon Jaylyn, burying her in rubble. A cry of pain was quickly muffled by the sound of falling boulders.

As Jaylyn was drifting in and out of consciousness, she could barely make out the panicked screams of people in town and the pokemon within the forest.

“No…I have to…have to…”

Damon Arwell

Damon bit his lip in fervent thought as he approached the Onix Express station. He had only just realized he had no idea what Lilinoe looked like, which could be problematic. Ren, who had been briefed on what they were headed to do, spun about on his head. Fruitlessly attempting to help her friend find Lilinoe. Mercí had gotten swiftly bored and returned to her poke ball after giving Damon a parting shock.

After several minutes amongst the bustling crowd, Ren pat his head and pointed out a small, purple-haired girl who seemed to be waving him over. As he approached her she introduced herself and confirmed it was him. He nodded with a smile and waited with her for their ride to arrive.
----------

Damon nodded distractedly as the hat wearing man explained what to expect. He only heard maybe one word in three as he admired the Onix behind him and nearly let out a squeal of joy as it plucked him off the ground and set him ok its back. His eyes were so wide with excitement they had begun to water from the extra air they were in contact with. Thankfully his hyperfocus wouldn't cost him much, as he knew almosr everything the man said. Damon tended to grab every piece of written knowledge he could when he hyperfixated on a pokemon species, and Onix had been his largest singular species interest.

As they began to ride away he snapped out of the dreamy daze and reoriented so he could chat with Lilinoe. "Local? No, I'm from the Almia region, most famously known for its pokemon rangers. I also traveled Unova a little during an apprenticeship, before I came here." His eyes gleamed as she mentioned Alola and her Salandit partner.

He suddenly slid closer, perhaps too close, to get a look at Kini. He had never seen a Salandit in person before. He beamed as she seemed to take delight in the attention he was giving. "From an egg? How impressive! She seems to be in great health, you must be very attentive and kind to her! Alola has both unique native species and its own variants of Kantoan pokemon, yes?" He launched into a veritable spiel of questions about her home region, his scientific curiosity boiling over. Thankfully Lilinoe seemed unfazed and was eager to educate him. The ride to the observatory passed all too quickly in Damon's opinion.
----------

Damon brimmed with energy as they dismounted and began discussing strategy. Lilinoe had an unfortunate disadvantage in this type of situation it seemed. With fire and poison being her only types, an Onix could really endanger Kini. "Hmmm. Considering the fact we only want to draw their attention and get them to move elsewhere... Kini's range, and minor effectiveness against an Onix might be perfect to draw their attention without actually hurting or enraging them."

He gestured to Ren on his head. "Serenity here can sustain herself frighteningly well with Ingrain and Absorb, and should any of them come at us too aggressively she has Grass Knot. I'd prefer to save that for extreme circumstances though as it's stronger on heavier pokemon, and with its type advantage and Onix's weight it could be devastating. I don't want to hurt them if I don't absolutely have to...."

He patted at his belt, where Mercí was presumably relaxing in her poke ball. "Mercí is a Mareep with Iron Tail, which might come in handy....if she wants to listen to me today. She's..... independent I suppose you could say. Other than that, I don't have any other pokemon either." He sounded far less self conscious about this then Lilinoe. After all, he only trained pokemon that chose to come with him purely on their own. Though that did make life difficult at times....

Back in Nimbos Town, an angry mob was gathering. They had lost all patience in dealing with the rampant combee swarm and were ramping up to take aggressive measures on the scene. A local scientist was doing his best to alleviate their anger.

“Now the combee are just trying to protest their queen. They’re more afraid of you than you are of them-”

“Nonsense! Don’t listen to this hack!”

A burly man broke from the mob and took a threatening pose against the scientist. That was all it took for the latter to cower away as the self-appointed mob leader riled the villager even further.

“Look at our town! What we’ve built with the strength of our hands and the sweat of our brow has been destroyed by wild beasts in a day. All because these combee are in a bad mood! Psh, ‘more afraid of us?!’ I’d say they’re not afraid enough! They try and take our homes and livelihoods. We should take something of theirs! I say we catch their queen! Who’s with me?!”

“Yeah, give ‘em hell, Godric!”

The crowd roared in agreement, ready to lay siege upon the forest. Some even broke out into song…

We're not safe until she's caught.
They'll wreck everything in sight!
Force our children into squalor for at least a fortnight.
They’ve brought havoc to our village; we must defend all our land!

So it's time to take some action!
Now it's time to take a stand!

The mob formed a circle around Godric as he continued to egg his fellow villagers into action. For some reason, he did this in song.

Through the winds, in the woods,
Past the brush and the meadows,
It's a nightmare, but one that’s all too real.

Over there, is their lair.
A honeycomb of a castle,
And a tyrant of a ruler stews inside.

It's Vespiqueen; she knows Slash, with razor-sharp claws.
Air Slash wings, Poison Stings, what a fiend!

Come for thee, with combee,
But she'll not defeat me.
She’ll be caught, good and caught!
Catch the Queen!

The crowd began releasing their pokemon and grabbing torches. They had full intent on waging war in Nimbos forest, with Godric as their general. They marched down the streets of Nimbos Town, their warsong filling the city.

Centiskorch, light our torch.
Fire, flying types will save us.
We're counting on Godric to lead the way
Through the winds, in the woods
Where within a honey castle
We’ll do battle and be victors of the day

It's Vespiqueen, one as mean as a beedril
We won't rest till we’ve wrecked her hive machine

Torracat! Pidgeotto!
March with us in tempo!
Prepare yourselves ‘cause here we go!

“We’ll lay siege upon Nimbos Forest and bring back the queen!” Godric proclaimed as the mob rushed out of the town and into the forest. What was once a quiet pristine wood was interrupted by the rants and trampling of an angry mob hellbent on revenge.

“Take what honey you can find, but remember: the queen is mine!”

Come so far to this land,
Understand bugs not deter us
So we wage war where these bees choose to convene
Throw all balls! Bring her down!
We’ll do battle, steal her crown!
We'll save our own and Nimbos Town!
We'll catch the Queen!

+6 points everyone for putting up with Gan’s bullshit.

A year of Vera Valle, a year of growth for everyone as a trainer, and a chance to prove themselves. The valley had continued to grow at an exponential rate, proving the hardiness of those that lived within, new discovers, new ways of life, and new people.

The start of the growth in the valley had begun with the implementation of the pokecenter networks, and pokemon storage. While blackleaf had managed to keep the networks from becoming international, may trainers found it relieving to have a place to store their pokemon while they travelled. Lacuno Observatory began to offer a pokemon daycare service to these extra pokemon as a way to raise research funds and the ability to study exotic pokemon much more study.

Assistant Maria Calderon managed to finish her thesis and was named Professor for the region, her Slowking (Tzu) well known for sizing up trainers capacities at a glance. Professor Maria was well known for a red bruise on her forehead from slamming her head on the desk, long sighs, and an extreme coffee addiction. Despite her spazzy nature, no one knew the valley better than she did. "Common Sense isn't a gift. It's punishment... because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it."

After the incident in Nimbos town and a sliiiight forest fires, the trainers managed to calm down both the rampaging Vespiquen and the rampaging town folk, finding the source of the commotion being a fight between emerging queens. After an epic battle between Ianthe and the emerging queen, it was convinced to relocate. This wouldn’t have been possible without Jay’s Monferno and Toxel holding the line and preventing the old hive from interferring. Jaylyn, meanwhile, managed to convince the townfolk to put out the fire. All three trainers were recognized and given time off to focus on their pokemon. Ianthe was called back to Hoenn afterwards after receiving a phone call of the health of her berry master instructor.

Lillinoe and Damon were able to ‘convince’ the Onix’s to move elsewhere, the relocation successfully assisting in Lacuno Observatories Richter Scales working again, warning them of a landslide, and revealing the real marvel of the place as it literally packed up and moved down the side of the cliff overnight, and army of dugtrio being the secret weapon of the observatory for when Regigigas (King) was in one of his mountain throwing tantrum moods.

Eric, meanwhile, had a few lessons in life as he was mercilessly beat down by Lucario in a rock said to have Lucarionite. He swore he’d return for it.

Victor, Truth, and Kenneth successfully were able to rescue the junior grunts had wandered into the swamp, mostly being recognized as having great potential, though nearly all were perturbed by Victor’s… affinity for the moors. A giant Golurk had ‘adopted’ the lost junior grunts, and was currently protecting them against their will from an army of litwicks. All three rescuers received promotions from grunts to syndicate coordinators. It came with a nice cash bonus, and paperwork.

Fliathri and Maya meanwhile had found a nice cash source for Blackleaf, finding a vein of firestones deep with the Lava caverns. Fliathri returned with an egg of a fairly decent size, 17.7 inches tall, and weighing 74.4. He put his back out carrying it back. Maya, meanwhile, was able to sneak a few fire stones of her own away. The prize was well met, and Admin Jones also promoted them on the spot. With Mansel being out of comission still, Jones became the leader of the Admins due to the cash it was able to bring the organization.

Life continued mostly as normal, until one day a fateful rumor spread like wildfire through the valley: The Pokemon League was visiting Vera Valle looking to host an exhibition match. To a region filled with almost nothing but trainers, excitement rang through every conversation. Every conversation began with ‘did you hear’. The worst criminals and the most upright citizen both hummed.

To add validity to this rumor, the stadium from 15 years ago began to be rebuilt.

Trainers and Blackleaf members alike set out at once, some to catch pokemon, some to train, and a few with a more serious mindset volunteered to assist with the stadium, to protect it from harm.

(Decide on yourselves what you’re doing, let Gan know and he’ll GM accordingly. Here’s the location doc: Vera Valle Try to agree as a group where to go. Grab 1 or 2 other people. )

Kenneth Vano Maya Kauffman
Maya flopped back into a chair with a heavy sigh, trying to brush some of the ash out of her hair. It was a long trek from the Flame Caverns back to Clasm Outpost, but man was she thankful for the working air conditioning. And clean air. That always helped too. The room at the Pokémon center had become a bit of a home away from home for her these last few months. Wild Pokémon had been harassing the grunts trying to haul out fire stones, and she found herself voluntold into keeping the area clear-ish.

Speaking of, pulling out her phone, Maya set to work typing up a message to Admin Jones. Mining had been going well, wild Pokémon seemed to be finally taking the hint and staying clear of the grunts trying to work. It was still a weird thought, the admin taking over the organization, but Mansel sightings had only grown rarer over the last few months. Like he’d become some kind of legendary Pokémon. Maya snorted at the thought, Arceus the heat must’ve been getting to her.

A paw on her arm dragged her out of wandering thoughts. Maya looked down at the pair of red eyes staring up at her. Kurama’s now white coat had been stained grey with ash and soot. “Not right now, I need to finish this.” A more insistent paw. She sighed, looking over at Ren stretched out on the bed. “Ren, will you help brush Kurama out?”

The ralts barely lifted her head, “ah?”

“Come on, he lets you ride around on his back all day. Only fair you pay him back.” Indeed, there was a Ren shaped clean spot on his coat. The little Pokémon groaned loudly, but it wasn’t long before a brush floated out of Maya’s backpack and set to work. She was getting better at controlling that.

Meanwhile Kenneth, who was just outside of the Pokemon Center, was not enjoying his first time visit to Clasm Outpost. By the love of Arceus, he was never ever going to go into a desert fort the rest of his life. There was sand in his boots, sand in his eyes, sand in his shirt, and sand he didn’t even know sand could be. This was worse than having to fight the local wildlife since at least they could be beaten in submission, sand, on the other hand, cannot be beaten in the same way. Not to mention how HOT it was! Who in the sky dragon’s name would live in this sandy wasteland!?

At the very least it was much better than suffering inside that blasted swamp. Kenneth shuddered as he remembered the ghastly feeling of the ghost infested swamp with the feeling of water sinking into his sneakers accompanying it. He would have left the grunts to die once he saw an army of Litwicks and a Golurk. His memory of being in that Funnel cave, or whatever, still traumatized him.

Now entering the Pokemon Center, he began to shake off all traces of the sand out of his clothes. It still irritated him that there were some in his boots, but he would have to deal with that later. He was supposed to meet Maya in the center. Apparently, she got a mission involving the Flame caverns that were nearby the Clasm Outpost. Lucky, or not, Kenneth couldn’t tell if she liked being here or not until he talked to her. That being said, looking around, he saw her shiny Ralts first before seeing Maya. A smile came up and he started to walk over towards her. “Hey, Maya! Long time no see. How’ve you been?” He said and turned his head over towards Kurama, “Wow, Kurama evolved? I must have missed a lot.” Kenneth changed his course and made his way over towards the Fox Pokemon.

“Hey,” Setting down her phone, Maya turned towards him with a smile. “It’s been . . . jeez, a few months now, huh? But I’m alright, Jones has been keeping me more than busy up here.” She reached down and lightly tossled the tuft of fur on the top of her ninetales’ head. “Yeah… kinda happens when you walk into a cave full of fire stones. But what about you? What’ve you been up to lately?”

“I see…” Kenneth knelt down and examined the ninetales. Who knew such a small little ‘pup’ could grow into something so big in a few months. “Nothing much has happened. After doing a mission to find some grunts, I was promoted to Syndicate Coordinator!” Kenneth said in a dramatic tone. His tone then dropped into a bored one, “Which is a really boring job. All I really do is recruit people or something, I don’t know since I’ve been slacking on the job. But hey, at least it’s better than fighting the ice turkey in a glacier.”

Maya gave a little wave, “promoted here too. Though… it’s less recruiting and more me checking in on the grunts hauling fire stones.” Kurama stuck his nose under Kenneth’s hand, fishing for pets. “Yeah… that whole mission sucked… But we still brought down a legendary. Even if just barely.”

A chuckle slipped out of Kenneth's mouth as Kurama attempted to ‘coerce’ him into giving him pets, which he did submit to and started to pet the golden furred fox. “Yea, I’ll admit it was exhilarating when we took down Articuno,” Kenneth said as he pet Kurama. A frown began to form as he compared Maya’s job and his own job. “Huh, is this what it’s like to be an adult? It must be considerably boring.” Kenneth said out loud to no one in particular.

“Besides that, did you hear the announcement they made? About the league coming back?”

An exaggerated groan as Maya leaned back, “It issss. Even battling the fire types here is starting to get old!” She blinked, sitting back up. “Wait, what? I mean, I’ve heard a few trainers wandering in here mention something about the League, but I thought they abandoned this place.”

“I thought the same, but when I did a little investigating apparently they were true after all!” Which meant he was slacking on his job, but he wasn’t going to mention it twice. ‘They’re in the process of building a new stadium to hold it in Cumulus City.” With a sigh, he just shrugged, “Pretty much the only thing interesting ever since the whole Nacreous Glacier fiasco. I wonder why they decided to bring it back up.”

“I’m not sure. Last time was apparently such a disaster for them.” Maya gave a low hum, “But if the League did officially come to the Vale it would mean Gyms Leaders, and Elite Four, and… and a chance at becoming a real trainer.” Despite her exhaustion, there was a palpable excitement that crept into her tone and eyes. Enough so that Ren easily picked up on it, humming and swaying as she continued on her task.

“Yeah, well hopefully nothing bad will happen when it does come up.” Kenneth said as he was reminded of their terror of a boss called Mansel. He noticed the small excitement Maya exhibited when she emphasized the ‘real’ in her sentence. “Yeah, that’ll happen too. This place can be officially a region if that were to happen.” He rested his chin on his hand, “I wonder what developments will occur when it does happen.”

“A lot would probably need to change to meet the League’s standards. More people would probably come pouring in as well, most of them probably vying for a shot at all the legendaries here.” It’d mean more competition for Blackleaf, and likely more work for them. “Wonder what Jones thinks of all this?”

“Probably a nuisance at best. If the League does come then they’ll probably bring security to ensure nothing goes wrong like the last time.” Kenneth stopped petting Kurama and began to stretch his arms out. “It’d be like the second coming of the discovery of Vera Valle. Which, I will not be looking forward to seeing that we’d have to deal with the influx of trainers.”

“You just don’t wanna go around recruiting.” Maya teased before standing so she could pace slightly. “You’re right about the security though…” She hummed in thought, “more trainers probably means a lot more battling for us. Maybe we should get some training of our own in?”

Kenneth groaned as he was caught red handed in his dismay. Seeing that Maya stood up and started pacing Kenneth decided to be the true friend that he always knew he was and took her seat when there were other seats that he could have taken. “I guess… Who knows what kind of trainers decide to show up.”

“And battles with trainers are always more… unpredictable than wild pokemon. I mean have you ever seen Fliathri in a fight? It’s uh… I mean there’s thinking outside of the box and then there’s not even knowing there’s a box.”

“I’m sorry, what’s a Fleathree?” Kenneth said as he tried to comprehend the thing that Maya spoke. Regardless of his incomprehension, he decided to pitch in his own thoughts, “Well, I guess the trainers here are a little… Unorthodox. However, this is Vera Valle, so I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised.” Kenneth couldn’t quite get the point since he hadn’t fought too many trainers despite his long stay in Vera Valle.

“I think you’ve met him before. Or at least seen him running around. Uh... wears a top hat, has a Sneasel and Hoppip, talks really weird?” She shrugged, “Yeah… weird seems to be the norm for this place.”

“Sneasel, Hoppip, top hat… Oh! Him… Yeah he’s weird.” Kenneth said as he remembered who exactly a ‘Fleathree’ was. “I think it’s just him. I’ve watched a few league matches myself in my spare time and the tactics they utilize in the League are very creative. But compared to here? It really is nothing.” He could vouch by stating his experience in watching his sister’s battle tapes. “Though say, do you think the admins are going to have us participate in the League?”

“I’d love to take a shot at it.” Maya sighed, “but you can’t compete without a trainer’s license…” Though if Blackleaf really wanted, they could probably find some way to get members into the competition. “Guess we’ll have to wait and see. It wouldn’t hurt to be ready though.”[/color]

Kenneth frowned and wanted to argue but was ultimately against it. He was about to state they were a CRIMINAL organization that could forge a false trainer’s license, but Maya probably understood what he was going to say. Instead, he decided to agree with her statement. “A shame, it is. Well, there would also be the problem of being recognized on T.V. as well.” Kenneth shuddered. “Though, enough talk, are you about done with your job right now, Maya?” He leaned forward and placed his elbows on his legs.

“I think so? I mean, knowing my luck I’ll probably be back here next week.” Maya tilted her head slightly, “Why?”

“I’ve been thinking…” Kenneth said as he leaned back against the seat and crossed his legs. “I’m thinking of adding a third member to my team. A Psychic type in particular.” He looked over towards Ren. “A psychic type would be helpful seeing that they’re able to read minds and with my current job I might find myself dealing with an undercover cop.” Not to mention all kinds of utility they could bring to the table. “So I wonder if you wanted to come with me to the Outlands, so I could try and catch one. I’ve heard that this one place hosts many psychic type Pokemon due to some sort of weird concentration of energy that attracts them. Plus, Ren might be able to learn something.”

“A psychic type might do you some good…” Maya mused. A small, catty smile crossing her features for a moment, “Maybe you’ll finally find out what’s going on in Milutin’s head?” She chuckled before nodding, “sure, sounds fun. Ren would definitely benefit from it, only reason I’ve even considered going back to Moonmist.” The redhead suppressed a shudder.

Kenneth blinked about it and looked off to the side to think about what Maya said. That’s right, if he could find out what Milutin was thinking then maybe he would be able to find out what was so interesting in staring into space. “You might be onto something, Maya.” Kenneth said thoughtfully. After a good minute of silence, he turned around to look back at Maya. “Regardless of your ingenious idea, Maya, it’s great that you’re able to come. I’m pretty sure this’ll be a fun little trip.” Kenneth said. “Tell me when you’re ready to leave okay? I need to take a shower to get rid of the blasted sand.”

“Of course, it’s been a while since we last got to work together.” She chuckled, “A shower does sound good though… less sand and more soot in my case. Let’s just head out in the morning then, yeah?”

“Yeah.”

"Alright then, lets get this over with" spoke Jay, tossing out Flints pokeball towards the challenger standing before him. "We skipped morning excercises today, so this should be a good workout for us!", a smirk had formed across Jay's face as Flint materialised opposite the determined Primeape. As had become a tradition over the last couple of months, Jay had been stopped in his tracks by the rowdy and rambunctious pokemon; Primeape and his entourage of Mankey had taken it upon themselves to fight Flint, the two simian fighting types nurturing a healthy rivalry among themselves.

As for Hendrix, the simian challengers had little interest in him; showing little to no enthusiasm whenever he appeared in place of Flint. Likewise, Hendrix couldn't care less for their cacaphony of screams; the disturbance a cause for infuriation for the 'Punk rocker'. Since evolving, Hendrix had become quite the 'artist', the pokemon having no patience for those with little respect for the musical arts. Truly, the mankey following of Primeape were nothing more than an eyesore to him; a bunch of noisy hoodlums hiding behind and even doofier leader. How long would it take Primeape to realise that he would not win?, that his presence was nothing more than a nuisance.

Both parties raring to go, the two simians eyed one another for several unspoken moments, the tension rife in the air as each awaited the other to make the first move, though as it was usually the case it had been Primeape whose patience had waned the quicker. Making the first move as per was the usual pattern of these meetings, Primeape opened the bout with a flurry of fury swipes directed at Flint; a standard straightforward and aggressive opening by Flints counterpart and one that was more often than not countered by Flints double team; a spectral imitation dissipating into thin air as Primeape slashed through it repeatedly. As was routine, Primeape responded with frustration; his anger getting the better of him as he returned the Monferno's witchery would a rock tomb, several boulders forming in the sky above Flint, only to welcome gravity's grasp as they plummeted towards him. An ace up the sleeve for Primeape who knew full well what his rivals type weaknesses were. Alas, while it had fooled both Jay and Monferno the first time, today was a whole other story and Jay and his trusted partner knew just how to counter it and even benefit from the assault.

"Destroy those boulders with repetitive power up punches and send them flying back towards Primeape" commanded Jay, his right arm stretched out before him as he gave the order to attack. Flint nodded, his right fist clenched as he surged forward, fist smacking into the closest rock and shattering it into several smaller boulders; some of which were thrown back towards Primeape as shrapnel. Natural athleticism that favoured Monferno and his species, the simian chimp leapt from boulder to boulder, shattering each of them with increasing ease as his attack rose to its allowed peak; all the while Primeape's rage growing as he endured the rain of rocks being returned towards him. The smokescreen of dust that had now engulfed the area made it hard for the white ape to judge where the assault was coming from and it could do nothing but endure the hail storm of debris that showered him.

Landing back inside the cloud of dust, Monferno remained calm; his fist raised upwards much like a boxer in the arena, the chimp ready and prepared for Primeapes next assault. All the while, the mankey surrounding the fight had broken into a frenzy of noise and movement; the smaller pokemon jumping and screeching as they vented their own emotions. An effective strategy as Monferno briefly glanced towards the direction of the noise. Like a flash, Primeape was once again upon Monferno with a Karate chop; his right hand raised upward before being rapidly swung down to strike at Flint; though Flint was just fast enough to react; raising his left arm to take the blow and prevent the strike from being critical. The result of this clash had caused the dust to billow outwards, revealing the two combatants once more in their heated embrace; a curtain rising for the final act. "Finish this off with a Fire punch!"

On cue, Flints right hand began to light up in golden glow; a ferocious fire forming around the clenched fist, an intensity of which was unrivalled at this moment as the tightened grip glowed ever brighter spurned on by the heat of battle as well as the result of several power up punches. It was over instantly, a bright light followed by the climactic roar of the empowered fire punch and shockwave of the attack. Primeape didn't stand a chance as he was thrown backwards several yards, the fiery fist K.Oing the ape within mere seconds.

Silence fell upon the ensemble as the chorus of chaotic mankey were silenced; their hero fallen upon the battlefield before their very eyes. Tears welled up among a few of the loyal zealots, though many more were instead incensed by this outrageousness. Like a mob baying for blood, these angered minions stepped forward, hands gripped tightly onto the debris of rocks that still littered the arena. Enraged, emotional and out for blood these mankey soon resumed their symphony of madness, rocks thrown towards Flint and Jay as they vented their frustrations in both bark and bite, all the while the few that had succumbed to tears doing their best to retrieve their fallen leader. Shielding themselves from the assault, both Flint and Jay covered their faces as the barrage of rocks pummelled them, their 'punishment' short lasting as red once again lit up the space.

Louder then even the cacophony of shrills, the sound of electric strumming reverberated around the place; the quick to anger musician letting himself out of his own pokeball. Patience waned and anger drawn out; Hendrix had unleashed hell upon the baying mob; his newly learned 'Overdrive' causing both the ground and air to vibrate in electrical ferocity. Foolish more than courageous, the Mankey quickly dispersed and retreated, their fallen leader carried upon their backs as they made themselves scarce once more.

"Thanks for that Hendrix", spoke Jay, dusting both himself and Flint off. "Perhaps they will finally learn their lesson and find someone else to bother" he finished, Hendrix replying with a simple nod of his head, before turning towards Jay's backpack. A tasty reward was required.

Jaylyn Rehn

Location: Cumulus City
Status: Pulling Double Duty
Team:
Vera-Valle-team.png

For the past year, Jaylyn had been serving Vera Valle as a traveling Nurse Joy. Her desire to help trainers in the middle of nowhere had brought all over the new region. Her expertise had allowed her to point out strategic locations to place pokemon centers. Once the pokemon centers and the local storage system were established, the infrastructure was in place to draw the attention of the Pokemon League. Should the League desire to renew expansion into Vera Valle, it would almost surely bring on a surge of development, with businesses capitalizing on the deluge of trainers coming to challenge the new League. What was once wild frontier was slowly being tamed, turning it into a modern world safer for the humans inhabiting it.

The renovation of the stadium in Cumulus City was perhaps the worst-kept secret in all of Vera Valle. For years, the stadium was abandoned after an exhibition match left a pokemon dead. The incident destroyed any chance of Vera Valle from developing its own league, at least until recently. Now, the site was bustling with machoke, conkeldurr, and other pokemon, alongside the human construction team. Old structure was being replaced, new features were constructed, and a sense of pride began to fill the city. The latter was especially true when someone caught sight of a rolled-up League banner entering the construction zone. The picture was posted online and debate raged. Some said this proved the League was returning. Others believed the old building was being converted into a soccer field. In any case, there was always a gathering of people across the street from construction, hoping to catch any glimpse of what was coming.

What was once the battlefield of the stadium was now the site for the construction crew to take their breaks, whether for coffee or lunch. It was also where worker pokemon could get injuries healed, courtesy of the on-site nurse within a large pink tent on the grounds. With the Cumulus City pokemon center across town, Jaylyn was requested to provide dedicated medical service for the crew. The nurse donned the traditional candy striper uniform of the Nurse Joy and manned the tent.

“There you go, Machamp,” Jaylyn said as she finished bandaging a brace around the pokemon’s back. “Give the treatment one hour before getting back on duty. And remember: give the cement truck a chance to park. No need to carry it.”

The machamp nodded as it left the tent for a late lunch, but not before waving meekly at the blushing indeedee waving back. Jaylyn rejoined her indeedee behind the counter. The pokemon, when not flirting with the patients, was reorganizing supplies while the nurse was keeping a patient bed neat and hidden. When things were quiet, Jaylyn caught some rest in anticipation of her second job. The site was requesting extra security in response to break-in attempts from local kids. Jaylyn was supposed to take a night shift…assuming the other volunteers came for their shifts.

“Oh DeeDee,“ Jaylyn said to the indeedee. “Have you thought of a place to go for vacation? After this next job, we should have enough for a break. Boy do we need it.”

The pokemon immediately pulled out a postcard of a beautiful island and handed it to her trainer.

“Alola?! We’re not making that much money. Somewhere more…local.”

The Outlands

Maya and Kenneth's journey to the outlands was marked by Vera Valle's regular irregular climates, the scorching heat of the Ring of Fire quickly darkened and replaced by the cold of the Nacreous region, before it began to wear off, the weather becoming more normal. The climate was only slightly chilly, but the area was far from normal.

At the border and outskirts, a buzzing began to register in their ears. A slight hum, but sounded more and more like the almight 'Ohm' of the universe. Slightly annoying at first, many had described the outlands as maddening, and the cerebral hum getting on almost everyone's nerves eventually. A few odd residents quite liked it, describing it as empowering. Indeed, as Maya and Kenneth continued, a few odd monks could be seen meditating on various rock pillars. They had very little interaction, merely humming along with the buzz. One nodded to the pair, but that was about it.

Around, the sky was hardly better, clouds circling around repeatedly, unnaturally, making a literal loop around the outlands. The ground vibrated with a purple glow.

Atop one rock pillar, a different sight awaited them. An Absol looked at them, its glare straight on Maya. Leaping down infront of them, it walked to her. Sat. Stared for several minutes, unblinkingly, then began to walk away. A few minutes later, it reappeared, like a dark shadow, staring yet again. It act repeated two or three times.

Each time, it retreated towards an outcropping of the outlands, a rock structure that a small, near-invisible path through it. An odd spark of electricity shot into the sky from the center of the rock column.

The absol reappeared again with its 1,000 yard stare, its breath short and hard like it had SEEN things.

Pileus Plains
Phayne Phayne

As the duel between Hendrix and the Primeape finished, the monkey beginning to be driven away, the beauty of the place set in. A gentle breeze blew through an array of grass, ripping waves of green and gold with each gentle pass. The grass was knee high, and swayed gently to the touch, though it wasn't exactly a fan of Monferno's fire. An angry cry could be heard as a Poliwrath would screech at the two, before quickly patting out the flames, and hydropumping away any residual burns. Quickly a breloom appeared, padding the ground under it, restoring the grass in record time... only for its eyes to lock with the Poliwrath's.

Eyeing each other, they began to back way, settling into a fighting stance, the wind blowing the grass past them in an epic sort of way, the scene straight out of a movie. It was little wonder rumors of a pokestars studios wanting rights to shoot out here was a popular rumor. Anyone who saw it knew this was the perfect place for the dramatic... and were the pokemon here dramatic. Every.single.one....

The group of Mankeys began to cry in the distance, draping their (not dead) leader in black, and screeching in all sorts of loud noises.

Suddenly, a large rock fell on them, dispersing them once more, except for the primape, who gave a painful 'ooomph' as it landed on him. Calling out for his subordinates, it began to struggle, slowly pushing the rock back and forth trying to get it off. It looked like it had been launched from a great distance.

Standing far off in the plain, a lone ox like pokemon stood. With stone like skin and a stare that could pierce rock, its eyes met with Jay. It waited a moment before the wind blew, before it stepped forward dramatically, raising its heads in challenge, but waiting for the weather before it approached again.

All around, duels were interrupted as they noticed the new comer. Mid punch, a lucario stopped as it's fist collided with a Medicham, literally stopping with the palm in it's face. Hilariously the Medicham turned as well to see the commotion despite the fist in its face. Both gasped, wide-eyed to see who was taking the scene, leaping back, quickly bowing to each other, than just standing to watch. Duel after duel went this way, until a crowd had gathered around, a cacophony of gasps and such.

Whatever this pokemon was, it was clear, this thing was the boss.

Cumulus City

A faint raspy laughter could be heard. Entering the building, a man walking on a cane, with an aviator's helm walked in. A set of cracked and rusted goggles sat on top, and a faded scarf wrapped around his thin wrinkled neck, and a jacket thicker than he was over his shoulders.

"Oh, I don't know, it's good to be ambitious, both for pokemon and for trainers. Though if you were wanting more local vacation spots, we've many beautiful places in Vera Valle. Some of them aren't even dangerous. Oh, where are my manors. I'm Mayor Muntz. I just wanted to congratulate you for all the help you've been for our great city."

He extended a hand in earnest, then sighed, pulling her in to whisper into her ear.

"And you're one of the trainers working tonight? Right? I've... come across some... private info that might be helpful. It's not safe to talk here. There's a driftloon outside the building when your shifts done. Come talk at a rooftop. Its nothing too dangerous, just, trying times with the league trying to come and all that..."

He broke the handshake.

"My, my, Lacuno really does know the stars to call upon! I swear you've been nothing but help since you got here Ms. Rehn! I look forward to seeing you around!"

True to his word, after her shift, a driftloon drifted around. It seemed to hardly notice Jaylyn at first, blinking as it watched a fat kid with ice cream walking down the street. Shaking its head, it saw Jaylyn and squealed, drifting down and offering it's balloon string.
Toogee Toogee

"And that's how the League has been channelling money away from payday from meowth's all over various regions. I swear it won't be long until try to set up chips in the meowth's in this region to try and funnel some funds back to the league. That's the real reason there here!"

Sitting infront of a cauk board, with dozens of tick tacks in it, and hundreds of newspapers, Fliathri pointed with his cane from trail to trail infront of a good 3 bored looking grunts. Why he could remember it like it was yesterday when he was a grunt. Mostly because it was. The promotion had immediately raised his spirits, and he's set to staging his first attempted coup in a city. Cumulus city.

In the back of the small warehouse they were meeting, Himiko was angrily humming as she pushed a baby stroller back and forth, a giant egg much bigger than the Sneasel rocking back and forth. Through the window a hoppip floated in wearing a large tophat, landing gently. Himiko began to snarl and screech motioning at the stroller to it. Hoppip squeaked, but she snarled louder, waving her arms wildly. It bowed its head and she spat. Crying, it floated away, landing on Fliathri's shoulders and pushing on it to get his attention.

"Not now my conqueror. Also, you two aren't even in the same egg group, what on earth is going on?"

A grunt stood up. "Yo, teach, that's good and all, but what's some bullshit conspiracy theory gotta do with us?"

"Ah, see, now that's what I like to see."
Fliathri smiled warmly. "Passion! Tis a noblier virtue."

"Yo, hurry it up."

Fliathri's smile faltered. "Frank was it? Formerly of Team Skull. Would you like me to sic the sneasel on you?"

His face paled. "N-no sir."

"Then sit back down."

Himiko glared at him, and he immediately ran back to his box, covering his temples with his fingers. "P-poor Bob..."

"Now, what this has to do is, they'll be setting up a queen persian in this city. We're going to steal it. I hear they're bringing a special Aloan Meowth. They're likely trying to evolve it here to have it adapt to be more friendly. Persians are incredibly territorial you see. If it evolved in Alola, it would never leave. I've bribed some cops here in Cumulus. And I've invited a good friend of mine to intercept the carrier-"

A 'nya' from back caught Fliathri's attention. "What do you mean I forgot to- Oh by god's nails, sard me. Alright, gents, excuse me while I make a phone call. You'll all be beating up the police I don't have the numbers for, tonight, 9:00. Make it look like a riot, and excuse me."

A few dial clicks.

"Heeeey... is this Victor? This is Fliathri Conchobhair. I maaaay have forgotten to ask you a favor. I'd be indebted to you if you were to complete it, and you would be able to drag me away for whatever scheme you have next. There's a meowth being delivered to the stadium tonight they're renovating. They want to evolve it in time for the exhibition match. We're stealing it. I need you to come help take on the Mayor. Any chance you could cause some of your name brand anarchy near his mansion tonight?"
