I'll be a great trainer, just you wait.
Maya

Star Pokemon:
ninetales.gif

Kurama
FireIC_Big.png
Blackleaf
Age: 16
Region of Origin: Kanto

Personality: Quiet and reserved, Maya's more likely to confide in her Pokemon instead of a person. She usually comes off as cold and cynical towards people and their intentions. Towards Pokemon, she's far more gentle, going out of her way to help one in need if she's able. Even if it means using her dwindling supplies. A Ranger she crossed paths with once told her she'd be a great addition to their forces, considering her tendency to put Pokemon first.

History: Born Aiko to Kanto's renowned Takahashi clan, Maya's far from a stranger to Pokemon. The Takahashi were among the few to tame the wild Ninetales in ancient times, its members having bred and trained them ever since. The clan had since branched out in breeding other species of pokemon, even being among the few that provided the new trainers of the region their first Pokemon. Despite this, Vulpix and Ninetales were still the Pokemon they were most well known for.

The young Maya, however, wasn't nearly as interested in a generations-old livelihood as she was the trainers and League they were breeding Pokemon for. But how could she join the Pokemon League, her parents argued. They weren't going to work forever and someone needed to take on the family business. Someone like their only child. For awhile, she settled back down and continued her studies to become a proper breeder and caretaker.

At least, she did until one night while walking back home from making a delivery to the neighboring Laramie Village. Accompanied by the clan's oldest Ninetales Byakko, the chances of wild pokemon harming her were slim. A brilliant streak of fire lit up the night sky like a low flying comet. It had been the legendary phoenix Moltres.

The experience had reignited her desire to become a trainer. She wanted to see the world, and just maybe, get a glimpse of another pokemon of legend. Of course, her parents vehemently denied such plans. Travel the world? Who would take over the family business then? It had been an ugly fight and Maya made a decision, one she would later admit could have used more forethought.

The teen grabbed what possessions she had, snatched a vulpix egg, and stole off into the night. Leaving her name and Kanto behind her. Why a Vulpix egg and not one of the many famed starters Kanto were known for? Maya wasn't sure. Maybe it was spite. Or maybe it had been the most easily accessible egg.

Byakko easily tracked her down, the old fox admonishing her for her recklessness, that she had put herself and the egg in danger. While not about to make Maya go back, the old Matriarch made it clear she wasn't leaving until the kit was old enough to hold its own. She took a liking to the girl's spirit, and was curious to see what kind of trainer she would become. Maybe Maya could one day match the woman that Byakko had once fought beside all those years ago?

Though their plans hit a bit of a roadblock. For all of Byakko's power, the illusions she could weave and spells she could cast, the Pokemon League had changed dramatically in the years since she had fought in it. Spells didn't necessarily hold up to the cold scrutiny of technology.

Fine then, the Ninetales decided, they would leave Kanto and she would teach Maya the old fashioned way. About a year passed until she was confident Maya and Kurama had a chance of surviving on their own. Overhearing a pair of trainers talking about heading to Vera Valle, Byakko nudged her young charges in that direction before leaving to return to Kanto.

It was there Maya met Mansel and learned of his goal to catch and train legendary pokemon. Working with him would be her chance to not only see these pokemon but actually work with them. Coupled with the fact she couldn't formally join the Pokemon League and... may have stolen her first pokemon, Blackleaf seemed like her best option.

Whether or not it was actually a good decision remains to be seen.

Goal: Catch and train a legendary pokemon.

Ianthe Kekoa
Here, try this. It's good, right?
Ianthe

IMG-0018.jpg

Star Pokémon:

bounsweet.gif
Name Nymph
Type
GrassIC_Big.png

Ianthe's Points 6
Breeder / Berry Master In Training
Age: 17
Region of Origin: Alola
Personality:
Ianthe is a caring, yet stubborn person. She falls in love with the beauty of everything, every Pokémon, every person. She can come across as very naive, but she's stronger than she looks, physically and mentally. It can usually come across as a shock, since Ianthe's honesty-said-with-a-smile can be seen as passive aggressiveness. Her genuineness is what keeps her towards the side of good, and is the reason she meets with the Professor first so she would know the lay of the land. It is very easy to distract her with a good Pokémon contest or a new garden, because aesthetics mean quite a lot to her. She is friendly, but not used to friends, so she may be awkward at first meet; she would much rather get to know someone's Pokémon before the person themself.

History:
Ianthe was raised at the Paniola Ranch on Akala Island in Alola. She found herself working at the Pokémon Nursery alongside helping out at the ranch, growing to love taking care of Pokémon. She learned how to use Poke Beans to help her enhance her Pokémon's strength, which went hand in hand with the care with learned from the Pokémon Breeder sisters at the Nursery. She grew close with the island's Grass captain, Mallow, helping with her cooking. When Ianthe became of age, she began taking the island challenges, ready to explore the world and treat Pokémon from other regions. She never battled the Alolan Elite Four, more concerned with learning about Pokémon rather than battling, before moving onto Sinnoh and learning about Apricorns, then to Johto, and so on, and so forth....

Ianthe has spent the last few years working alongside the Berry Master in Hoenn after a group of Team Magma grunts attempted to steal berries from the garden, wanting to learn more about berries and their types to perfect her Pokéblock and Poffin recipes. Poké Beans were wonderful, but it was so much fun making things for Pokémon instead of just growing them. She hopes that one day she can make the best new type of Pokémon treat with her selection, thanks to the Berry Pots she was gifted in Sinnoh and a booming Isle Abeens. Before heading off to the new region, Ianthe found herself returning home to Alola, returning back to the Lush Jungle, when she was out tending to the items Mallow grew in the Lush Jungle, she successfully fended off a Toucannon from a poor shiny Bounsweet. The Bounsweet was grateful for the assistance, but was still scared, so it ran off. Ianthe grew curious and stayed around for a little while longer, empathizing with the Pokémon and wanting to get close. After a few more visits to the Jungle, the Bounsweet wouldn't leave Ianthe alone, and became her friend. She is excited to see a whole new region with Nymph, starting fresh, and she's ready to give those new Pokémon a large amount of appreciation.

Goal: To make the next new treat for Pokémon to enjoy!

"Let's just go with the flow."
-Kenneth Vano

Star Pokemon:
loudred.gif
Mandrawl
Normal
Blackleaf
Age: 17
Region of Origin: Hoenn
Personality: Kenneth cares either too little or too much and its sometimes hard to tell if he's actually being serious. He acts like a child, and it's sometimes hard to take him seriously at times. From flailing limbs and for dramatic effect to feigning ignorance whenever he finds the problem too minor. He's also quite careless and uncoordinated whenever he's not doing something important such as fumbling with Mandrawl's pokeball. Despite his behavior, he is compliant to shut up when needed. Though by the next day, he'll usually be back to his normal, annoying self again.

In truth, Kenneth is just uncertain. He mainly acts the way others see him as in order to see what kind of expression will they make and tries his best to make the uncertainty fade away. When he is acting like himself, he seems too withdrawn. While that doesn't mean he suddenly becomes socially awkward, it does mean that he prefers being silent and using a soft tone of voice. He's an optimist when he looks at others and a pessimist when it comes to himself. That includes being neglectful to his own health and spends his time caring for others. Like everybody else, he has a keen interest in Pokemon.

History: Kenneth was born, in a ranch in Hoenn, in a family with four other siblings. His parents taught the five of them how to groom and take care of Pokemon. When they reached the age of fifteen, they each received an egg from their parents. That was how Kenneth met Mandrawl. The egg Kenneth received was a Whismur egg. Kenneth was not aware of the Pokemon inside the egg, due to being too lazy to look up from one of encyclopedia, and intensively took care the egg to the best of his ability. When the egg did hatch, Kenneth was ecstatic. It was first Pokemon that he would personally own and take care of. That was until the Whismur unleashed an ear splitting cry and knocked him out. Suffice to say, he didn't spend that much time with Mandrawl after that incident. Overtime he recovered and properly bonded with the timid Whismur.

As Kenneth grew up, he slowly became to lose interest in his goals. He often saw Pokemon Battles as a waste of time, since felt like he would never be a great trainer. His older sister often reminded of that fact when she told him of her great battles when she was in he adventure. He didn't want to stay on the ranch and take of Pokemon either. While he did love Pokemon as much as the other people that were on this Earth, he didn't want to manage all of them either. He could just travel around Hoenn and admire the sights for himself, but he felt like that wasn't a good enough goal. He also wanted to help his family, just like how his two older siblings were doing.

That is why he joined Blackleaf. What better goal to have than to see the legendaries for himself? While he had no ambition to catch them since it was an insane concept to begin with, that didn't mean that he couldn't at least see them for himself. Plus, pictures of legendaries were rare of themselves so they had to be worth something. If not, then it'll be a good souvenir to have.

Goal: To see every legendary and at least get one picture of each and everyone one of them.

Fliathri Conchobhair

"A little respect goes a long way."
Fliathri

Star Pokemon:
375px-215Sneasel.png

Himiko (Sneasel)
585460585461
Blackleaf
Age: 17
Region of Origin: Vera Valle
Personality: Noble and cocky, Fliathri seems smug in every dealing he has. The trick is to act like you know better, even when one has no clue what is going on. Fliathri's goal in life is to be respected, so he acts respectable. The only real skills he has are dressing well and speaking eloquently, but he'll act knowledgeable about camping, dealing with other, or anything one can imagine, even though he seldom has a clue what he is doing. If someone messes up, he'll chime in of course they were doing it wrong.

However, there are good sides to the man. If one treats him with a smidgeon or respect, he will go to the ends of the world for his 'fans', showing them with gifts, and offering to do their work for them. He tends to be very susceptible to flattery. He does tend to 'have gone ahead and taken the privilege of upgrading your X' mentality.

History: The story goes, twenty years, Vera Valle was discovered, only a few people were initially interested. Of those people, Aillil and Saoirse were two trainers who immediately signed up for adventure. Rivals, they fought at every corner of the map, meeting in the moor, atop the fiery volcanoes, the forests, the glaciers. After one particularly fierce battle atop Fogma falls that scarred the landscape, they were left panting against boulders, their pokemon unable to battle, a draw. Aillil asked "So, lunch?" It didn't take long for them to date, and eventually marry. As more and more people began to settle in to Vera Valle, the two thought of a good idea. They settled Nacreousville as a settlement so that the travelers around the wicked cold mountains would have a place to stop and restock. They should have been rich, but lived quietly instead, and raised a family.

And in this family was Fliathri born. He hated it. His family should have been respected! They founded a major city! But they got bumpkiss instead. And his parents kept pushing him to become a trainer, just like everyone else. Fliathri wouldn't admit it, but every pokemon he tried to connect with hated him. What was the point?

After another lecture from his parents, Fliathri ran off from home annoyed... which would be much less dangerous if they didn't live in the frigid north. A blizzard caught him, and he was left collapsed in the snow when a black figure came to him. A sneasel! It had come to save him. It ruffled through his items, obviously looking for a way to help him. But as he moved, it ran off scared. It was obviously showing him to safety, and so Fliathri followed him to a cave, where he rested until the blizzard went away.

As the blizzard died down, he turned to sneasel.

"You, you saved my life. Come with me."

The sneasel was shocked, and just stared. Fliathri took off his brooch, and handed it to his 'partner' as a sign of trust, and began to walk away. The sneasel excitedly put the item in her feather, and ran out with him ever since. Fliathri decided not to go home, but to go somewhere he could be respectable, to Blackleaf. He had a pokemon, didn't he? And they would catch a legendary. His parents had never caught one, so it was a way to one up them.

He called his sneasel Himiko. She liked it, and agreed. The first attempt to join blackleaf... didn't go so well. Mostly because Himiko stole the recruiters wallet.

However, a few persistent attempt, and Fliathri was eventually allowed to join... mostly by having Himiko run an errand for him.

Goal: To be respected, by any means necessary. (One-upping his parents.)
Trainer Points: 10
Equipment

x3 Lemonades
x1 revive

Items Himiko has Stolen

x3 Wallet (now empty)
x2 Drawings
x1 Thick Club
x1 Light Orb
x1 Amulet Coin
x1 Stick

Pokemon Roster:

  • 1585365408671.png
    Name: Himiko
    Pokemon: Sneasel
    Type: Dark/Ice
    Level: 3
    Personality & Notes:
A kleptomaniac, Himiko loves anything shiny. Oddly enough, she doesn't steal based on value, but on difficulty of the hunt. If she sees a small child with a macaroni drawing, she wants that. If a trainer is extremely wealthy, stealing money just isn't as fun. Its still shiny, but feels empty to swipe.

    * Doesn't have a pokeball, was never actually 'caught'. More like Fliathri's partner than pokemon.
    Moves

Thief: No one ever taught Himiko this move, but no one can exactly stop her either.
Taunt: Himiko cocky taunting can attract the most patient Pokemon to want to kill her.
Icy Wind: A breath of icy air.
Quick Attack: Fast little bugger, Himiko is able to take high speed and hidden paths to ambush an opponent.
    * Destiny Bond: Not normally learnable by Sneasel, hard work, a TM, and training from an Admin taught Himiko this move, nearly as spiteful as she is, she can curse those who would knock her out to suffer a similar fate.

    Battle History:
Won vs Dr. Hazel Ackerman - Chased the human to the boat, getting a krabby to take a blow meant for the Sneasel by taunting it.
Lost vs Togepi - Metronome = Origin Pulse = a free trip to sky island. Himiko hates fairies with a passion.
Lost vs Celebi - Himiko STILL hates fairies. Obtained a Golden Razz berry
Lost vs Genghis - Refuses to admit it, as it was a spar.

Although there is not a single shred of logic in the pursuit of absolute knowledge; it is the most logical thing to do.
Truth Rexword

Blackleaf/ Trainer
Age: 17
Region of Origin: Hoenn
Personality: Cunning, calm and collected are just a few words that paint the picture of Truth. He gives calculating a whole new meaning as he sees life as a combination of numbers and equations, taking a hard logical approach to his research. Of course, this has bled into his personal life as he is prone to making immoral decisions if it is the most reasonable solution. To be honest, he has more commonalities with computers as opposed to his fellow humans. Despite his mental wiring, one would expect him to be cold to his pokemon; however, he isn't. From the outside looking in, he doesn't appear to have the normal interactions with pokemon; nevertheless, he is still an aspiring researcher at the end of the day and is enamored by them. He is particularly drawn to pokemon who display certain amounts of intelligence such as Metagross, Alakazam, and Slowking just to name a few. He is not opposed to making friendships, pleasant symbiotic partnerships he likes to call them, but his relationships are usually a bit awkward to say the least.

History: From a young age his parents knew he wasn't like the other children around his age. They couldn't have been more estatic since they were also intelligent individuals in their own right. His father was an engineer, and his mother was a pokemon researcher; however, she wasn't as prevalent as other researchers in the area let alone the world. Since Truth was a bit of a prodigious talent, and their only child, they often let him tag along on during their work. Eventually, his potential career path wound up turning into a competition. Would he be an engineer, a researcher, or something completely different? (They never really considered that last option.) They took any chance they had to influence his path to the point they appeared to be kidnapping their own child. While his knowledge and talent expanded exponentially his social upbringing suffered and he became like the computers his father often designed. As he grew older he began to tinker with machines, and create different things. It was around this time that he drew the attention of a wild beldum. At first the beldum would watch from afar as the young boy failed many of his experiments. He would never get frustrated after his failures, and the beldum's curiousity grew the more he observed him.

One day he was having trouble with a cooling machine designed to heal burned pokemon while they were in a pokeball. The sun was nearly set, and he still was nowhere near a solution. On impulse the beldum rammed the machine and to Truth's surprise it started to work. It was such an illogical solution, but the results proved it was the only logical choice. Of course it blew up after a few seconds. This was the first time Truth genuinely laughed. After that event Truth and Omega were inseparable. A few months later Vera Valles was discovered and Truth decided he had learned everything he could from his parents. It wasn't long before arriving that he realized observing the legendary pokemon rumored to be in the area would be more than difficult. So obviously the logicial choice would be to join to cause of the disturbance. If Team Blackleaf was in the way, join them. Of course you could stand up to them; however, such an act would be inefficient and possessed too many unknown variables in route to the final goal. However, joining Blackleaf guaranteed the organization would no longer oppose you while you would also elemenate competition....so BLACKLEAF IT IS!

Goal: After hearing the stories of Mewtwo coupled with the recent discoveries of pokemon his wish is to create the ultimate pokemon and attain ultimate knowledge.

Given how much pokemon do for us, it's only right we give back to them!
Damon Arwell

Star Pokemon:
petilil.gif

Ren
grass.gif
"Trainer"
Age: 21
Region of Origin: Almia
Personality: Damon is caring and patient almost to an alarming degree. Outside of directly harming life in his field of view, one would find themselves hard-pressed trying to anger him. Not that his partner pokemon won't continue to try out of whimsy. He can turn almost deathly still while observing a plant or pokemon, or while waiting for one. His singular focus sometimes blinding him even to the supremely obvious.

Curious and unashamed in his pursuit of knowledge, Damon sometimes has issues with social conventions and personal space. Though his reaction if this is pointed out is immediate apology, he is not always able to pull himself away from the object of his attention. It is not uncommon for him to bombard someone with a flurry of soft-spoken questions if they pique his interest. Both fortunately and unfortunately, Damon doesn't often note someone's physical traits outside of a purely scientific standpoint.

History: Born in the Almia region, Damon was the son of a Pokemon Ranger and a professor's aide. Both his upbringing by his parents and the culture he grew up in valued and emphasized close tied with nature. He took after both parents in a more in depth love for the natural world than most of his home region. His tastes ran in the middle of his parents, less conflict oriented than his mom as a Ranger, and more field research than hid lab working father.

Unable to be saved by books alone, yet yearning to learn about the outside world, his parents sent him with a friend to the Unova region in his teens to study fieldwork under a professor. He spent much of his time in varying forests, as was the professors area of expertise. On one such excursion into Pinwheel Forest, Damon and the professor managed to diagnose and cure a group of Petilil and Cottonee of a particularly nasty infection caused by Gloom spores. To Damon's shock when they were scheduled to leave, one of the juvenile Petilil followed him refusing to leave his side. Initially he was adverse to taking her from her home environment, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. The supervising professor found it greatly amusing.

A few years down the line the professor considered Damon's studies under him complete. Whirl Damon was initially distraught the professor explained this only meant it was time for him to learn under someone new, and begin taking steps towards obtaining a license of his own. As such he put in for Damon's transfer to Vera Valle under professor Joshua. One of the steps involved required Damon to obtain his trainers license, as is mandatory for field study in Vera Valle. Not something he ever planned to do, but he wasn't opposed to the idea. After a short visit to his home region of Almia, Damon set off for fresh and undiscovered lands with his partner pokemon.

Goal: Observe, record, and preserve the natural beauty of a still rather untapped region.

Eric

Star Pokemon:
riolu.gif

Name: Freja
Type:
FightingIC_Big.png
Trainer
Age: 19
Region of Origin: Vera Valle
Personality: Reckless and loud, Eric is very much the type to shoot first and ask questions later. He's always looking for the next thrill and rarely ever considers the consequences of rushing in headlong. He'll jump at the chance to take on the most dangerous jobs he can. Not that the inevitable scoldings don't phase him, Eric wants to be a powerful and respected trainer but he wants to do it in his own way.

History: Born in Sinnoh, Eric's parents moved to Vera Valle when he was barely a year old. They lived in Cumulous City for most of his childhood, a small town nestled on Route One that all newcomers to the Valles needed to pass through. Trainers in their own renown, both of Eric's parents often found themselves busy doing various odd jobs, steadily being gone for longer periods as he grew older. It wasn't long before the young boy began to act out, getting into all sorts of trouble in a bid for attention.

More than a little obsessed with the Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger series, in which the heroes always bring down the villain without using any pokemon, Eric picked up martial arts. Seeing a chance at giving his son some discipline and keep him out of trouble, Eric's father encouraged the lessons and gifted him a Riolu.

The two... did not hit it off. Eric wanted to do things his own way and Freja couldn't stand her trainer's recklessness. But they were stuck with each other whether they liked it or not. Slowly, their relationship improved over many, many sparring and training sessions. Freja may find him frustrating, but she began to notice the hard work he put into his training and grew to respect that. Not that it gave her any qualms with kicking him upside the head when he gets another hairbrained idea.

Growing restless and itching for adventure, Eric had a chance encounter with the Valle’s own Pokemon professor. He found himself immediately enamored with the way Joshua extolled on his potential and quickly agreed to work for him. Sure the jobs were many, unpredictable, and more than a little dangerous, but how else was he going to get stronger?

"It's only during the heat of the battle, that one will truly discover what they are made off
Jay Fetu

Star Pokemon:
monferno.gif

Flint
FireIC_Big.png
FightingIC_Big.png
Trainer
Age: 19
Region of Origin: Vera Valle
Personality:
For the most part Jay appears to be a rather chilled and laid back individual, seemingly content with maintaining the status quo rather then seeking to distrupt the balance. Neutral towards just about everything he rarely lets his emotion get the better of him and will often times shrug off 'news' that would normally elicit a much bigger reaction. His neutrality to most things enables him to often times retain an unbiased view towards what people classify as being 'good and evil' or 'Right and Wrong'. Rather then narrowing down actions to such vague categories, Jay tends to look at the bigger picture; avoiding the often times stereotypical impression one would form from those categories.

Rather mature, he understands that sometimes 'good people' do bad things and that it is often due to circumstances forcing their hand rather than the individual themself being 'corrupt'. Thus he doesn't readily decide that someone is bad and thus must be avoided because of a mere few actions. Good and Evil are merely two sides of the same coin; without one the other could not exist thus to write someone off just because they do bad things is something that Jay would rarely ever do.

Because of his chilled demeanor, Jay was often the target for ridicule during his school days; the typical school bullies initially seeing him as being weaker and thus a target ripe for the picking. Of course, Jay's relaxed composure was not just for show. Truly, he scarcely ever felt fazed by the bullies actions; rather he felt pity that they would act in such a manner for attention. Unlike many kids who would try to fight back or feed the bullies actions; Jay's reluctance to acknowledge their teasing would eventually lead them to finding someone else they could pick on; though it was only then that Jay would decide to step in.

It takes quite alot to anger Jay and whilst he doesn't categorize people into being good and bad, even Jay would not tolerate it when someone else suffered because of his actions, or in this case lack of action. Jay hates the idea that his inaction would cause trouble for someone else. Not caring for how he would appear, Jay would willingly stoop to the lowest of lows, degrading himself to a state in which he would appear to be the actual bully. Evidently he had a natural knack at it as his venomous remarks would eventually get the bullies to stop their petty actions

The fire that lights his fuse is simple. Jay is a battler, a bona fide pokemon battle is what truly gets him going; the fire in his eyes raging ever violently the longer the bout continues. The glimmer in his eyes as he is embroiled in combat with his trusted partner is often hard to miss. In the heat of combat, the problems that plague the world do not even exist; the differences between himself and the one he is fighting against do not matter. It is simply a moment in time where two fierce competitors test their wits against one another, where human and pokemon work hand in hand to defeat the opponent standing opposite them. It is during battle that Jay commonly loses his composure and well mannered persona, the venomous tongue that he hides away being revealed in full glory. Like a switch being flicked on, Jay is often far more colorful in the way he speaks, especially as the fight progresses.

It is due to his tempestuous battle spirit that Jay seeks to establish himself as a gym leader, if not a member of an elite four. The constant stream of competitors whose resolves have been hardened through experience and lives have been devoted to the ritual of pokemon battle are an idea that he simply can't push out of his mind.

History:

  • The youngest son of two prominent pokemon researchers, Jay was largely expected to follow in the footsteps of both his parents as well as his older sister Violet. It was assumed by many that he would be the next in line to take up the title 'Professor'; pursuing a particular scientific field of interest in order to further understand the many mysteries surrounding Pokemon. Alas, that was not to be the case. Unlike his sister, who readily chased down a career in the Pokemon sciences, Jay showed no interest or inclination into doing as such; deciding early on that his interest lay elsewhere. This isn't to say that he had no real desire to find the missing answers to those mysteries that often dazzle Pokemon researchers. Jay's stance from the very beginning had always leaned towards experiencing things first hand and in person, rather than burying his head into books or research and theorising what those answers could be.

His parents; both Scientist in the field of 'Fossil Research' had jumped on the opportunity to move into the isolated region of Vera Valle. Having been secluded from the outside world for so long, both his mother and father were keen to discover the secrets hidden among the mountains; the countless caverns potentially hiding new undiscovered fossils. What other ancient pokemon roamed the earth all those years ago?. For the most part, his mother had worked from their home; Jay only being a year old when the region was first discovered. With Violet's aide; Jay's mother was able to raise him as well as continue her research; documenting the discoveries that his father would make whenever he would venture out to the Cirriform Ruins. To date however, no new fossil of undiscovered pokemon have been found.

Like Jay's parents, many other families had over the years begun to flock towards the new region; the opportunity to start fresh available to them. Businessmen as well as fellow researchers were some of the first to come here; both eager to monopolize the success for themselves as quickly as possible. It was the Vera Valle dream, as some liked to call it; the opportunity for anyone and everyone to snatch glory for themselves. With the abundance of people flocking here, it wasn't long before towns were formed; schools and other neccessities popping up in order to facilitate the children of all these families rushing over.

Like the MeleMele school of Alola, a facility was set up in Cumulus city for children to study; both the basics of everyday education as well as how to handle pokemon. Both Jay and Violet attended the school, Violet finding success in the academic side of her studies, whereas Jay seemed to lean more towards the sporting side. Despite the pokemon belonging to the school, it was evident that Jay had a special understanding of them, knowing how to play to their strengths. Jay's knack for pokemon battles did not go unnoticed.Even his teachers could see his potential as a trainer; the ingenious strategies that he implemented during the mock battles a clear sign of his potential.

With Jay beginning his personal journey in Vera Valle, both his mother and father have rekindled the fire of their research; both eagerly deciding to return to Cirriform Ruins in hopes of making a new discovery. The recent earthquake has given them hope that new previously unseen areas of the ruin have been revealed. Like their parents, Violet too has taken on the mission of uncovering the secrets of Vera Valle, though her interest lean more towards the origins of Vera Valle and its ancient civilization. With her research on the Cirriform ruins coming to a standstil, the recent discovery of the Foehn tunnels has given her renewed hope of finding answers to the questions she has had for many long years.

Now, Jay alongside Flint travels the various routes of Vera Valle, the first steps taken towards his final destination.

Possessing energy far beyond what such a miniscule body could hold, this trouble maker of a pokemon has quickly become the inseperable partner to Jay, the pair of them resonating with one another over their shared love of battling.

A keen fighter, Flint is always looking for the next showdown, the next challenge and the next rival. A battle spirit to rival Jay's, Flint is always willing to give 110% in combat, whether his opponent be weaker than him or stronger. Should he lose a battle, you can be sure that Flint will be biting at the bit for a rematch; unperturbed by the defeat and only looking forward to his own victory. An unbreakable respect for the art of battling, Flint despite his flaws will never disrespect his opponent by going easy on them, nor would he forgive his trainer for doing the same.

Loyal to Jay, Flint shares the same aspirations towards battling strong trainers and has resolved himself to helping Jay attain a position that would allow him to do so.

Trainer
Age: 17
Region of Origin: Alola
Personality:
Lilinoe carries herself with quiet demeanor that stops the moment she speaks up. She is generally friendly to other be it people or pokemon. People whom she spends time regularly with gets 'familial' treatment solely because that is the culture she grew up in. She wants to help these people, to trust and will come to their defense. Although she eventually realizes that working together and being under the same banner doesn't make them to be a community, she still offers it. Such difference between her homeland and Vera Valle has made her hesitates over many things she has been ignorant of.

She prefers peaceful solution when it comes to conflict between people, however, it is not to be mistaken that she will roll over and submit easily. There is stubbornness in her that egged her to not back down, especially when it concerns what she believes to matter, like her sense of duty and values. It has caused her no small amount of quarrel back in her childhood. Lilinoe knows how she wants to lead her life and doesn't like it if people insist otherwise. She thinks it is uncalled for people to decide that she can't achieve her goal or makes her feel she is less than she is. Rarely, a few people have a taste of her spite when they have repeatedly antagonize her and her older brother have firsthand experience in how far she will go to have it.

History:

  • Lilinoe comes from a humble background. Her family isn't that well-off, there are time when they are barely scrapping by, but they are happy. There is always meal on the table, a roof over their head and they have constant income. (If only her brother could have realized that...) Her father works as stable hand to poke ride, while her mother sell handcrafted trinkets to tourist that pass through. It is from her father that Lilinoe become enamored with working with pokemon. Once, her father took her to his place of work where they have stable for ride pokemon to rest and wait their next trip. The time her father first took her for a ride out of town was forever a fond memories as Lilinoe saw for the first time that there are so much more out there than her small town. Lilinoe was determined to learn riding and from there it led her to flying, diving and surfing. Lilinoe has tried everything Alola's poke ride has to offer that it was inevitable that she ended up employed to them. She helped in caring and assiting in their training. Although her future career seemingly decided, Lilinoe still held a childhood dream of leaving her home region to seek other opportunity. Alola do have their own trial, but the idea of taking it made her blanch. No way she is taking the same path her brother tried and failed because she still remembered how their relation soured afterward. She didn't blame the trial itself, it is more due to its link to bad memories and she had travelled the entirety of Alola from working with poke ride. There won't be any excitement to be had from familiar land.

Her chance came in form of an old advertisement about a frontier region, Vera Valle. A region that was discovered 20 years ago and with reputation as a gathering place for Legendaries. Lilinoe learnt that it was still full of undiscovered area and open possibilities if she's willing to brave unknown territories. If not now, when, right? Lilinoe proceeded to emailed the professor of the region whether he was still taking in new trainer and to inquiry how to register. Unfortunately, she was contested by her own parents, much like her older brother many years ago. How ironic. Her parents expected her to continue her job and didn't think she will do otherwise. It saddened her that they had assumed so. Still, Lilinoe insisted and she knew from experience of many years ago of what not to do. Lilinoe took a diplomatic route to convince them. Rash though this may appear to be, she had a concrete plan. The fact that she sort of have a sponsor certainly helped and she assured that she can always return if it didn't work out.

By the end of the month, Lilinoe quit her job and left for Vera Valle.

Goal: To find opportunity to have a better life through her achievement or being known for something. What it is... she is still figuring that out.

“Out in the wilderness, there are no pokemon centers to seek help in. Yet trainers’ most dire need is out there. That’s where I come in.”
Jaylyn Rehn

Star Pokemon:

876-f.png

Name: Deedee

Type: Psychic, Normal

“Trainer”

Age: 19

Region of Origin: Galar

Personality: Jaylyn is a very caring person, almost to a fault. She can be pushy when it comes to the health of people and pokemon, especially if she knows those involved. Refusal of proper treatment is not an option when she’s around! The nurse is almost always putting others before herself. Sometimes, she needs someone to push her into caring for herself.

Aside from pokemon husbandry and healthcare, Jaylyn is also interested in the world around her. She enjoys traveling across Vera Valle, visiting exotic locales and hidden villages that people rarely visit. It helps that most people are happy to see her when she arrives. However, she hates stubborn people who try to act tough, especially when they refuse treatment. Nothing brings those people down like an alcohol pad to their wounds.

History: A common misconception is that all Nurse Joys are related and all are named Joy. In fact, Nurse Joy is more of a title, the one who manages a pokemon center and its staff. As for why they all look alike, we must turn to a time long ago. In feudal Kanto-Johto, any girl born of pink hair and blue eyes was automatically placed in the priestess class, a group of people responsible for the care of the sick, particularly pokemon. The tradition rose from the legend of the Original Joy, a celebrated woman said to be able to heal any ailment with a single touch. Ever since, those who share the physical features of the original Joy were trained to keep spreading her healing gifts across the world.

This was the world Jaylyn was born into.

Jaylyn was born and raised in Motostoke to a pair of warehouse workers. Neither of them shared her physical features, so her parents were shocked with their baby’s small tuft of bubble gum locks. At the age of three, Jaylyn’s family was visited by a pair of Nurse Joys. They were there to see if Jaylyn was suitable to join their guild. After running personality tests and interviews with the parents (not to mention little Jaylyn herself), they had determined that Jaylyn would be trained as a Nurse Joy. At age 10, Jaylyn was made an apprentice at the local pokemon center, her education paid for by the International Union of Nurse Joy. This gave her a much brighter future than her parents had ever hoped for her.

Over the years, Jaylyn was trained in subjects ranging from pokemon husbandry, training basics, and first aid to more complex fair such as basic accounting, management, organic chemistry, and much more. During her tenure as an apprentice, Jaylyn was assigned a partner: an indeedee named Deedee. She too was training to assist both nurses and patients, so the two easily got along when it came to serving shifts. They had been together ever since; there was no one else Jaylyn would trust more.

One day, at age 18, Jaylyn was in charge of the Motostoke pokemon center. Her mentor would be retiring in a few years and needed someone ready to take on her roles. It was the highest honor for a Nurse Joy to receive her own pokemon center, so Jaylyn was excited for the responsibility. It was a stormy day, so many trainers were huddled in the lobby, waiting out the rain. No one needed any healing beyond what the machinery provided, so her duties involved passing out warm tea to the huddled masses. Suddenly, the room filled with gasps as a neighing ponyta dragged an unconscious man into the building. Immediately, Jaylyn went to work, performing CPR in an attempt to revive him. His lungs were filled with water. A lot of time had passed to get him here. Too much time had passed. Yet Jaylyn kept trying, a worried ponyta watching over her. The ambulance had arrived and pronounced the man dead. The nurse couldn’t help but blame herself: she was serving tea when this man was drowning. She retreated to the back to sob while Deedee and other staff helped with the crowd. Yet she wasn’t alone: the ponyta had joined her, resting her head on the nurses lap. The pokemon had appreciated her efforts, even if she wasn’t able to do anything. They bonded over their grief, the only good thing to come out of that night. When the pokemon went up for adoption, Jaylyn immediately applied to be his new owner.

In the following months, Jaylyn had made it a practice to travel the outskirts of the city to check on the many trainers in the area. Yet she had seen reports and pictures of gravestones far beyond Motostoke. They were makeshift graves of trainers whose journeys ended tragically, created by friends and pokemon that had no way of bringing the dead back home. How many people and pokemon die like this? Someone had to do something. The experiences had caused Jaylyn to give up her claim on pokemon center. She felt her skills would be better served on the field. She presented her proposal to a council of Nurse Joys. By becoming a traveling Nurse Joy, Jaylyn would be able to assist those not anywhere near a pokemon center, as well as assist understaffed centers in small towns. If successful, more nurses could be assigned to different sectors of the country.

After much debate, the council approved. Jaylyn would become a traveling Nurse Joy, but not in Galar. There was much greater need for pokemon care in the recently discovered region of Vera Valle. As the population of trainers increased, so would the need for nurses. This was especially true as these trainers travel to isolated regions to pick fights with creatures of terrible power. This was the role Jaylyn was made for.

Goal: To provide medical assistance to people and pokemon alike out in the wilderness and explore the region along the way.

Equipment

6 Poke Balls: Sometimes, injured pokemon need to be transported. Pokeballs are the best way to do this.

Super Potions x6

General First Aid Kit: Allows Jaylyn to do things such as treat minor wounds, sew stitches, and other minor stuff. It won’t perform miracles, but will keep patients stable while getting to the nearest town.

"Can you feel it?... Are you afraid?"
Victor J. Thorne

Star Pokemon:

Mephisto
GhostIC_Big.png
DarkIC_Big.png

BlackLeaf Trainer
Age: 19
Region of Origin: Ransei
Preferred Pokemon Typing: Poison/Ghost/Dark
Personality:
Whimsical / Playful

Whimsical to a fault, Victor can sometimes come across as being overly playful to the point that it can be rather irritating. An individual that always seems to make light of a dark situation and even dark of a light situation, he is able to find humor in even the darkest of places. He will often times overlook the obvious wrong doings in his actions in favor of his own pleasure and enjoyment.

Capricous / Arbitrary
Victor is a capricous soul, he is someone who teeters on the edge of two opposites and will happily dabble in either end of the spectrum. Without warning he may switch from being the foolish joker to a cold hearted predator; his change often discernible by his eyes. Often times his hair covers his mauve colored pupils, but when he reveals his cold glare it has often been described as a predator staring down its prey. His changes in temperament and attitude often switch on a simple whim and can at times appear to be random and without reason.

Mischievious / Vexatious
The whimsical joker, Victor strives to be the center of attention even if it means acting the fool just to get one or two eyes on him. He will even go as far as to ridicule a person of note just to get a response from them. He can often times come across as annoying due to his mischievous nature, especially to those with little patience for his actions. He enjoys stirring the pot between two people and will find enjoyment in watching both parties argue.

Disobedient / Anarchistic
Victor can have a strong opinion towards certain subjects and will often times act independently in order to meet them, even if its against the will of someone in authority. He operates in a grey area of society and seldom conforms to the governments established rules and laws. The only rules he truly cares for are those he sets himself. That being said, his disobediance only ever appears should he develop a strong interest in something else. For the most part, he will still play along with someone else's ideas and motives, so long as he has the freedom to do as he pleases whilst still meeting that goal.

Hedonistic / Self-Indulgent
Victor often times does thing purely for his own pleasure and amusement. Someone who does not see himself tied down by the rules, he merely acts on his instincts and does what excites him the most at the given time. Driven by his own instinctual desires, he places his own selfish needs above everything else, regardless of the consequences.

Unsportsmanlike / Opportunist
Victor has little respect for the chivalrous aspects of a pokemon battle and will often times exploit that chivalry in order to benefit himself. His battle style has often times bought a lot of negative feedback, considering the perceived cruelty in how he treats the opposing Pokemon. Not the type to fight in a straightforward manner, Victors style of combat has frequently been described as being 'Ambush' - esque or Predatory; appearing to take advantage of situations in order to 'get the drop' on his opponent and once captured appearing to take 'too long' to end the fight. Just like a cat to a canary, Victor tends to play with his foes when in actuality he can just finish off the fight then and there.

History:
Victor J. Thorne is a former patient of Yggdrasil, an organisation devoted towards harnessing the mysterious power of pokemon as a means of developing a new sustainable source of renewable energy. First there was 'Jotunheim', the department tasked with researching the mysterious power of Dynamaxing; an energy source that grows pokemon towards giant proportions empowering them proportionately. Second was the department dubbed 'Vanaheim', tasked with researching the mysteries surrounding evolution and how the drastic changes to their appearance are merely the pokemon bypassing the natural cycle of growth that humans have to undergo between birth to adulthood to death. The third department, Muspelheim focuses their attention towards the Catalyst stones required to forcefully evolve a pokemon beyond what was naturally intended. Nithavellir, was the department that researched Z-Moves, specifically the Stones closely associated to a particular species pokemon rather then the type. A separate branch to the mentioned four and the department in which Victor was housed in was called Mithgarth. They took an alternative approach in their research focusing on the human component rather than the pokemon.

Three other departments of research existed within Yggdrasil, 'Svartalfaheim' that explored the 'Shadow Pokemon of Orre', Alfheim that explored the existence of pokemon beyond earths atmosphere and lastly Niflheim that explored the circumstances after a pokemons death and the correlation to ghost pokemon. Recently however, these three departments have had their funding reduced in favor of the others, particularly the newest department of Mithgarth

The heads of Mithgarth hypothesised that humans like pokemon also had the innate ability to generate, harness and control this mysterious power from within themselves and that their origin was closely linked to that of pokemon than currently accepted. Of course, as time passed humans deviated from the evolutionary line onto their own branch, losing their ability to freely manifest that power at will. The Legendary N of the now defunct Team Plasma, whose current locations are unknown is seen as evidence that supports their hypothesis; his ability to communicate and understand various pokemon being treated as a 'lost' ability of humans.

Holding their scientific research above all others, Yggdrasil took in many children from around the world into their care, using various methods of testing to determine their aptitude as trainers, using this as a baseline of selecting candidates most likely of 'awakening'; 'Awakening' being the term given to those who develop the ability to manifest this secret power. Candidates were given a pokemon egg upon their selection, the imprinting process during hatching being key to the success of their experiment.

Wildly accepted as being a key factor within the other four departments of Yggdrasil, a strong bond between Pokemon and Trainer was seen as a vital component of being able to generate this immeasurable source of power, strong enough to alter the forms of pokemon and strengthen them tenfold; the pokemon often requiring a catalyst such as 'great stress' to force the evolution and break through the obstacles that limit their powers. Of course, in order to achieve this in humans, the roles were reversed and the trainer put through the great levels of stress. Victor like many in his position underwent several experiments to try and prove this theory, each one chipping away at him as he endured both the physical and mental pain of the experiments.

If not for the caretaker that oversaw the children, many of them would not be here today. Victor in particular held a close attachment to her, the caretaker often reading him stories and legends of people with 'mysterious' powers, though none managed to enamour Victor more so than the stories of the infamous N, a man capable of speaking to and understanding pokemon and how after his world was 'flipped' upside down and his castle destroyed he was still able to befriend and fly off to distant lands upon the back of a Legendary Dragon.

Needless to say, Victor is no longer a patient of the Yggdrasil facility, this multi national organisation forcibly shut down by Agent Looker of the International police once word spread of their inhuman experiments on both pokemon and children. A member of the organisation unable to bear with the guilt of their actions had snitched to the FBI. As was procedure, the test subjects were rescued and given a new lease of life after passing an evaluation overseen by a psychiatrist. The leaders of Yggdrasil, sentenced to years in jail were justly sued, their losses given to the victims of their experiments.

Victor with no knowledge of where he came from was now free in the world, given a substantial sum of money as compensation for the years of suffering he endured. With nothing to tie him down and his only affectionate memory of his past within Yggdrasil being the caretaker, Victor inspired by the Story of N has made his way towards the region of Vera Valle, inspired with the idea of capturing his own Legendary dragon, hoping that it would guide him, much like the dragon has done for N.

Goal: To catch his own legendary dragon, Eternatus.

    Personality & Notes:
Ruthless in battle, Mephisto relishes the opportunity to intimidate its foes and will often times go out of its way to spook its opponent as soon as the battle begins. Like a bully in the playground, Mephisto has no issue with pushing its weight around the place and thus has no qualms about picking on 'the little guy'. Possessing a dark sense of humour, Mephisto can often times be seen laughing at its opponents; especially after landing a successful hit on them. Proud of its power and arrogant to a fault, Mephisto is the definition of cocky and the antithesis to humility. He will happily rub his victories in the face of his fallen foe.

A subject of Yggdrasil's department Niflheim, Mephisto shares the abusive background that Victor has endured himself. Though its arguable that this is not the cause for his doucheness. His shared trauma has allowed him to forge a strong bond with the somewhat unstable Victor.

Personality: Power Hungry: Kim is extremely power hungry and seek to become stronger by almost any means necessary. Very determined about it. She’s obsessed about become stronger. Admires power.

Proud and hot-headed: Kim is very proud and can sometimes take offense in things that most people would not care that much about, and doesn’t take insults likely, specially coming from those who she sees as below her. It is not very difficult to get her angry if you want to.

She’s used to wake up in the morning and already do some exercise, she keeps a training routine not only for her Pokémon but also herself. Beyond her power-hungry persona, Kim is actually a really nice person who has a good judgment of right or wrong, she is very loyal to her Pokémon and cares about them a lot. She can also be a great company, she likes to joke around and can be very funny.

Unpredictable: Kim shines under pressure. She studies her approach to combat and likes to apply unorthodox strategies.

History:

  • A small body was thrown against the wall of the gym, raising a cloud dirt, and for a moment no one could see what was going on in there.

“Is that all it can do?” – The man at the side of the arena spoke loud and clearly, inquisitive, he was quite disappointed. – “It’s too weak.”
“Neva!!!” – The Vulpix was not yet beaten, but it was struggling to get up after the blow. But that Pokémon was very determined to stand back. – “Are you okay?” – However, her trainer was very worried after that last attack. The Pokémon was determined to try again. – “Okay then… If you can still fight, let’s do this! Use Icy Wind!”
“Al, don’t do anything. Let that attack hit you!” – The trainer said, and the Alakazam obeyed. He just stood there and took the attack, not even flinching. – “Huh..”
“It can’t be…!” – Kim could not believe on what she was seeing. That didn’t work at all. Her dad, at the other side of the arena, was not surprised at all. – “Try Ice Shard again!” – The Vulpix tried again to do some damage. But it was useless.
“Enough of this, its taking up my time. Al, use psychic.
The Vulpix was completely dominated and again slammed against the wall, not it was completely unconscious.
“Neva!! Stop! I surrender! Neva, come back!”
Kim tried to take her pokemon out of battle, but…

“Al, don’t let her.” – The alakazam controlled the small unconscious body of the Vulpix, and as his trainer commanded, it did not let the Pokémon to return to her pokéball. It lifted the Vulpix’s body up near the ceiling. – “Jimmy! Jimmy where are you???”

“Stop! You won! Let me get her back!” – she yelled, however, her dad was not interested.
“Jimmy!!” – He called one more time, loudly.
“S-Sir? Yes sir?” – A lab-coated young adult showed nearby her dad, holding a tablet.

“Goddammit Jimmy, what I’m paying you and the other losers for? Are you really doing your job? I cannot tolerate incompetence”
“Sure sir! We’ve been working hard as ever..”
“Then WHY IT IS SO WEAK?”
“Um? I’m.. sorry sir, what are you talking about?”
“That!” – he pointed to the Vulpix – “I made all the resources of the zaibatsu available to you and your team, and now my daughter shows up with that? What i'm paying you idiots for? Tsc… it’s okay Al, let it go.”
The Alakazam released his control over the Vulpix, letting it fall. – “Neva!!!” – Kim screamed and jumped into the arena, running as fast as she could and throwing herself onto the floor to catch her Pokémon.
“I… I don’t know sir, we did exactly as we was supposed to. It is supposed to be a pokémon who can grows a lot! It was supposed to be strong!”

Goal: To become strong by herself.

    Ability:

    Snow Warning (hidden)

Personality & Notes: Because they have been together for years by this point, Neva is very close to her trainer, Kim, and they have been through a lot together. Neva has a competitive side and hates losing just as her trainer, but she is more relaxed than Kim and also would be much lazier if not by Kim. Kim is the one who pushes Neva to be her best self, and the main reason why she fights is to see Kim succeed. Because of the beatdown she suffered, she doesn't like psychic pokémon very much, specially Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam's. Neva and Kim are both each other best friend, they sometimes can understand each other by just looking at each other, and Neva respects Kim, a lot. Neva is also Sassy, she is very Jolly and loves to play, with Kim or even other pokémon. This pokémon is also exceptionally smart.
