Fantasy Original Anime RP [Interest Check]

The Black Knight

One Thousand Club
Actually, who is interested in creating our own RP Anime with some cliche tropes. We need the cute, adorable kawaii guardian/guides, we need bad-ass powers, which named weapons with named techniques can be part of it. Who is interested in seeing what sort of interesting story we create?

Overall Concept: Because we had plot proposals from futuristic to medieval, I decided to pitch a high fantasy concept. High Fantasy is the category we see mainly in Final Fantasy where all the genres are incorporated into its own fantasy world alien to our own.

Plot: There are four major gods: Life, Technology, Order, and Death. A feud has developed among them, creating a fissure in their relationship. The gods used to be at peace with one another until something happened, and now they are on ill-terms, creeping the world of Ultima toward a divine world war. Gods have already begun violating each other’s’ borders. The creatures of Death have begun sprouting from the Void into the realm of Life. Technology has granted too much power to the children of Life to the point they feel empowered to be stronger than the gods. Death has become gluttonous and no longer chooses to be regulated by laws. Death has begun ravaging the planet at every opportunity. Order has remained neutral, choosing not to take sides for doing so he fears would only worsen things.

Each god has a hand on the chess board, influencing the beings of Ultima, causing them to war in their stead until one god is dominant over the other. At current, Technology is prevailing with Death sheathed at his hip. Life is dwindling with only limited support from Order who only aids her enough to sustain her.

Minor gods, goddesses, and god-like creatures have tried to speak to the major gods and get them to make up and compromise. Celestial Summits were created to give the gods and godlings an open forum to present issues that need resolution. The resolutions that have come from the summits have not been ideal due to Technology’s and Death’s alliance; and Order’s noncommitment. The major gods are no longer thinking about Life. They are instead thinking about expansion, spreading more technology, destruction, and death. While Order and Death never saw eye-to-eye, Death has convinced Order that he is a necessary evil and Order’s restrictions on Death have loosened. Life, as well as the minor gods, have lost their voice, and the inhabitants of Ultima are paying for it.

A group of minor gods have begun having secret meetings. There have been whispers of rebellion and talks of breaking the divine laws since The Duo (Technology and Death) have already done so. Majority of the minor gods were divided, sitting in the stands of their favorite major god and fighting for their dominance. The minor gods supporting all Life on Ultima have come together in secret. They have stolen powers from Technology, Life, Death, and Order and merged them together. The power of Life granted the beings existence, turning them into a creature unlike any that had ever been created by Life herself. Having a balance of all the gods’ powers with a few unique additional powers from the minor gods themselves, the minor gods hoped they had created the ultimate warriors to push back Technology’s and Death’s forces and restore Order’s faith in humanity. These beings were called, Tenyo ( “Godsend or God’s gift” in Japanese because this wouldn’t be an anime without a Japanese name).

Ultima – Planet Concept Draft: On Ultima, there exist various creatures and races. They are all children of Life, the goddess who have brought them into existence. Ultima has various biomes from arctic to desert wastes. It has vast oceans, and magical forests. Orbiting around the planet are four moons: a white one, red one, blue one, and purple one. It is believed that the combined powers of the major gods created Ultima, but the one god who has always existed was Order.

Technology: Due to the Technology god, the highest level of technology are mechas. The children of Life lack the resources to escape Ultima’s orbit, but are capable of touching the boundaries of space. Space is often theorized to be an illusion created by the gods to showcase their power. It is something the children will always strive to touch but will be unable to.

Magic: There is no good or bad magic. Like a weapon, it is how the person wields it. Practitioners of magic only have the power to create a pact with a minor god in order to use it. Unless, they are a Tenyo, of course. The Children of Life are naturally unable to produce magic due to Order not permitting them to possess such power. Order believes that magic is too great of a power to trust in the children’s hands. Regardless, the children have gotten around Order in their hunger for power making pacts with minor gods who represent either Life, Order, Technology, or Death. A child of Life is unable to bond directly with a major god or even accept power from a major god without being destroyed.

Magitech: The combination of technology and magic has allowed for the children to create weapons so great that they rival minor gods, but have yet to rival the major gods. However, the children are developing such devices in secret. It is Death’s closely guarded secret.

Civilization: There are various civilizations. All of the living creations are called Children of Life. The Children of Life have various forms for Life is an artist. She loves creating new things and has made various types of humans, beasts, and humanoids called demi-humans. All non-humans, and non-beasts are called demi-humans. While beasts either quadrupedal or anthropomorphic are straight up called beasts. Dominant groups have created nations, towns, villages, and tribes.

Religion: The religions are based on the four gods. Despite Life not having much of a voice among the other gods, she is dominantly worshiped on Ultima with Technology being second, Order third, and Death last.

Character Creation Overview: Players will be allowed to make any kind of creature they want. Players can also create a Tenyo (which also can look like anything). While Tenyo were created with good intentions, they all have freewill and could just as easily use their powers for evil. Players are allowed to make as many NPCs/Supporting characters as they want to add to the story or to their own character’s story. However, do not do so if you find yourself role playing with yourself more than others. The intention is for you to role play with others. Tenyo players will have spell/power/technique categories for each of the four gods they were composed from with two additional utility abilities from the minor gods that created them. You will be required to have a name for your minor god makers. Those who do not wish to make a Tenyo can play a normal Child of Life who has a pact with a minor god. That is the only way they will be able to use magic.

Minor God Example. They can also be chibi humanoids.
In-Game Plot: There will be a war brewing between nations. I expect some of you to be mercenaries or sellswords making a living taking whatever job you can. Those who are good will have their minor gods traveling with them as kawaii creature things, guiding them to their fated destination whether to stop an Army of Death from torching a village or who knows. It’ll be whatever we make. Every decision they make will overall be a deed large enough to affect the world overtime.

Minor Gods: Tenyo have minor gods bonded with them automatically. If they don’t have a positive relationship with their minor god, while they may be able to use 80% of their power, they won’t be able to use 100% of it. The minor gods who created the Tenyo created them to help them try and regulate the major gods. If you have a character who doesn’t care or who is against this, then they will not have a good relationship with their minor god and therefore, cannot use 100% of their potential. This is just a fyi and to give you more story for your character to work with.

Alrighty! lots of these ideas have many details that haven’t been hammered out but I hope they help with figuring out what to do

Alrighty! Well, the plot is basically that there is a fantasy land that exists parallel to the modern world. A long time ago, monsters ran amok with a group of demon lords leading them, each reigning over a territory. That was until a group of chosen warriors with enchanted weapons rose up, defeating and banishing the demon lords in some magical prison in some magical slumber. After that, the chosen heroes defended the land and they were regarded as great heroes of myth. When the final one died, their weapons save for their leader's spellbook mysteriously disappeared, said to be hidden by the warriors to ensure no corrupt hands would wield them. A prophecy proceeded to arise that someday, an individual will come wielding the former spellbook of the group’s leader (who was the creator of the weapons) and unite a new group of heroes to fight against a great evil.

Some centuries pass and suddenly an evil mage dude who really wants power or revenge or something found a way to awaken and control the demon lords of the past. With them under their command, our villain took over the land, the demon lords conquered their former territory, and monsters returned from exile. This led to havoc as different societies formed in the different regions the demon ruler ruled, each having different cultures as well as receiving different treatment from their rulers but all of the corrupted and oppressed in one way or another whether it be by choice of some of the demon lords or forced by the villain ruling over them.

This led to the spellbook of the former leader of the protectors of the land, their only weapon that wasn’t hidden but has not activated since the death of the leader, to be sent by some mages to another world in hopes that it will find the hero of prophecy.

That map ended up traveling to the real world in the form of a storybook. One or two of our characters find it, decide to take it, and check it out only to see that the book only the book to thrust them from the modern world into this fantasy land. Warped into this other world, this character finds the book leading them to travel through the lands, create a group of worthy heroes, find the weapons of the former protectors of the land which are said to activate when in the hands of a worthy individual, and defeat the evil that appears to be the demon lords and the sorcerer who enslaved them.

But as our party travels between the lands and realize that the land was never perfect to begin with (maybe there is discrimination against monsters or potential purging since the demon lords were banished or maybe the lands were completed separated with foreign relations being completely awful. In short, the land is far from perfect) some of the more morally grey demon lords who appear to not be purely evil, our party wonders whether simply returning things to the way they were before is right.

The idea was this takes place in your traditional fantasy land. I’m still figuring out the basics of it but in short, long ago a rather cruel and tyrannical conqueror ruled over the land, using both magic and swordsmanship to make everyone bow to their will and demolish any warrior who faced them.

However, when all hope seemed lost, one magical knight stood against them, wielding a sword that contained multiple forms. The knight was victorious and the land was freed and able to live in peace. But with peace accomplished, the knight disappeared.

However, legend has it that they left behind their sword, the sword having been split into its several forms. Since, many warriors have fought over possession of the blades. However, they say that every blade holds a curse that one most endure in order to properly wield the sword.

And in short, our characters get involved into this conflict and we have a small party form filled with bonding, adventure, character drama, and that good romance.

This is the one that could be urban fantasy or high fantasy whether we have it that our characters journey across a magical land or venture through a world where technology has led to magic falling into obscurity as the world no longer believed in its existence.

This takes place in a world where multiple gods exist with every god having a chosen prophet that they have partake in several godly quests at the God’s request. While many of these quests are perilous and may end in one’s life early, they gain much fame and status in return for being a god’s hero with hierarchy of sorts being set up, the prophets of the major gods having higher positions with those of minor gods have lower positions and art sort of ignored. Not to mention that those that are the gods’ prophets do have powers based on what the gods rule over, similar to PJO except it’s more they got the whole package since there can only be one prophet for a god at a time, a new prophet being chosen by a god some time after the old prophet’s death which is signified by a birthmark or something with the god sending them on their first quest (usually by having it appear as writing on their wrist or such) when they are believed to be ready

Here’s the issue. Having once seldomly chosen and used prophets for important world-saving tasks, a majority of their gods, especially the major ones due to their immense power. have grown too reliant, lazy, and reckless when it comes to their prophets, having them just go do all their dirty work and fix their mistakes as they begin to act impulsively or lazy and have their prophets do all the work.

This is noticed by few but it’s like... what are you going to do? Speak out against a god?

That is exactly what our protagonists are sent out to do, each being chosen by a minor god, for one reason or another, has grown tired of this prophet system and the ways the major gods are acting as the minor gods have now been looked down upon more than ever (or they could be a prophet of a major god who is tired of doing dirty work or such. Honestly the possibilities for characters are limitless). So, they task protagonists with their one and seemingly only quest. To figure out a way to end the prophet system.

I’m still figuring out how this will be accomplished. Like we could be all grungy about it and have it that they have to find a way to take out all the major prophets at once or, take a more lighthearted approach, with having less of a focus on killing the major prophets or more finding a way to cause or be a threat greater than the prophets, forcing the gods to finally do their job and possibly use that time to communicate and negotiate with them. Or just fighting their way to the top without hopefully killing anyone in hopes to get the major gods’ attention! Maybe even something else like they have to find and awaken a force more powerful than the gods or something similar.

I’m still hammering out the details but that’s what I got so far

Hope you like them!

I like your second and third idea, and I think they could be merged. Anime always likes to do an underdog rising to the top sort. So maybe we have all the protagonists be a chosen prophet for "minor gods" who are using them to usurp the major gods who have become lazy and started abusing their power? This way, it leaves it open to other cliche tropes with the kawaii, floating guide animals, and characters having powerful weapons and other magic.

I like the sound of that! Like perhaps the prophets are chosen through weapons, allowing us to tie in aspects of the second idea with weapons being the soruce of their power and their connection to the gods but also holding curses that prevents the prophets from disobeying their gods' orders. That said, I really love the idea of a group of underdogs banding together exploring how we can incorporate other tropes like floating guide animals and such!

Can you give more details on the logistics?

A) What are the post requirements, both length ones and timing?
B) Since this an actively trope-centric roleplay (which to be honest, I really love the idea of) just how far is this intended to be taken? Is is just playing the tropes straight or are we talking more of a self-aware comedy sort of level? Are we talking putting "anime-esque" stuff into the writing as well, like adding honorifics and stuff?
C) One of the most common problems in this sort of roleplay is things becoming too much of a sandbox and losing an active direction. As a plot is being come up with right now, what are your plans in terms of your involvement as a GM, in general terms I mean.

Regarding Stitches and Patchwork Stitches and Patchwork 's suggestions, I think they all could work, though I’d only be mildly interested. Depending on the answers to my questions, I’ll offer some suggestions of my own, unless of course the group is already deep into those ideas.

I think everyone is one, unless someone wants to be a villain

I'm going to bed. I'll return to brainstorm further in the morning. Feel free to continue plotting without me. We have a decent base concept/theme.
