~Introduction + Rules~
Hey everyone! I'm Ollie! I'm a socially anxious environmental biology major with an English minor, 19 years old, EST timezone, and I use any pronouns! I really don't care. I work a job as a library page as well as a scriptwriter and audio editor for podcast, and I used to work in a wildlife rescue. I have a hectic schedule, so sometimes I can get out a reply a day and sometimes I can get one out a week. With 9 years of experience, I write a minimum of three paragraphs per post, with my starters ranging from 8 to 25 paragraphs. I use proper grammar and try my best to keep everything spelled correctly, and I prefer 3rd person past tense!
I also like to write multiple characters, focusing on one main character with a few side characters. I prefer m//, f//, and nb/a to m/f, but romance isn't needed within a plot to keep me happy! OOC is encouraged, but not required, and I'm forgetful, so if I disappear for more than three days, please poke me. In the next tab, I'll have writing samples. Then, I'll place in my rules. Under this set of tabs, I'll have what everyone is actually looking forward to: the plots!
Here's writing samples, categorized by short, medium, and large. I vary between the 3.
Small (context: a fantasy rp with a witch bakery owner and the time-traveler that landed in the alley outside his shop):
Jessamine eyed him a moment, trying to decide how generous he actually planned on being. Talking to the man in general had been enough to make him feel as if he'd done his part, but he wasn't lying when he had said he looked like shit. Jessie liked to claim he didn't have feelings, and if he did, they were locked up far below where they could never surface- it was easier to keep a distance if you simply didn't care -but he did pity someone who refused to admit they had gotten shitfaced and ended up in a boring alley instead of somewhere more rewarding. Besides, he was curious about what other explanation the guy could possibly have; there wasn't much that would get someone to forget where they were and why.
"Well, I guess I haven't met my generosity quota for the month." He said finally, digging out a cigarette and holding it out to the other. Once it was taken, Jessie lit it for him, before going back to smoking his own "So, you didn't get drunk off your ass, and yet you have....a pounding headache and no sense of where you are? Sounds like something that would happen to a drunk." He leaned against the wall once more, digging out his phone and opening his messaging app, letting Maria know he'd be later than he expected. "And you don't seem to have another explanation for it. I've never heard of anyone getting so drunk they forgot drinking, but there's a first for everything, so I'll pose that as my theory for your situation."
Medium (context: about a police officer and a homeless psychic):
It was obvious the man in front of him was homeless, or at least not in a great spot. Thomas had seen plenty of people in that sort of situation; around cities, it was hard not to see at least 1 person sitting near a building with a sign that mentioned something about God and money and food. Of course, he felt bad. People having trouble getting where they wanted to be, which was probably simply just somewhere with warmth and food, was difficult to watch, especially during the colder months. So, Thomas could be sympathetic. Really. If it were at any other point, and if he himself were anyone else, he would be more than happy to let it go and move on.
He wasn't somebody else, though, and it wasn't any other point. He was a sorry excuse for a police officer, stuck in the current moment.
He did have a quota to meet, technically. They really never said that not meeting it would get him fired, but if he didn't call anything in, or bring anyone to the precinct in this case, then his presence would be viewed as more of annoyance than anything. And if he was more of a hindrance than a help? Then he's probably be fired, and he really wouldn't be able to handle that. Due to that, he had to place his sympathy aside. For the sake of his job. It wasn't exactly the justice-seeking future he had envisioned when he was younger and planning out what he wanted to be, but he had to deal with the reality: he wasn't a TV cop.
'Whoa, okay, buddy, wait a second." He said, grabbing the man's arm, though doing it gently. He had no intent to hurt the other in any way, and he still felt bad "Can't just let you go like that. Train hopping is still illegal, yea? 'Fraid I'm gonna have to take you to the precinct quick. It's....you know. Protocol. I gotta do my job." He offered up a smile, but it looked forced, he was sure.
Long (context: about a space crew going on search and rescue missions in the year 3092):
Space is completely silent.
When people say that no one would be able to hear you scream, they were completely right. Until around 2097, though, this fact was viewed as more of a myth, like how drinking soda and then swallowing pop rocks would make your stomach explode. When space travel became a common thing- when Draii Corp started marketing it cheap to the public, once their Mars get-away was developed -incidents involving people getting sucked out into space became more common, and so the knowledge was spread a bit further, as you were not able to hear your shipmates scream until it was far too late. There was short period where it became a common murder technique, and if the reports were anything to go by, murders rocketed both due to convienience and because being locked within a small space with the same people for days on days on day tended to gnaw away at any resolve people had, until they were hauling it to the nearest airlock and tossing someone out.
Anyway.
The science behind it was very simple. On Earth, or any planet for the most part, the gravitational pull of the planet, due to its mass, would create an atmosphere, and that atmosphere had particles upon particles. That number of particles is what allows sound to travel. Space, however, has a lack of molecules, which means a lack of things for sound to travel through, which means that your screams could not be heard.
Breathe in.
That was one of the many issues only realized upon making space travel a cheap vacation alternative to the Bahamas. Another is that there is not one ounce of friction in space, nor gravity when you’re between planets. Within the ship, this could be forgotten thanks to the artificial environment, but outside was a very different scenario. Take this example, for instance. On Earth, a man throws a rock. This man, being a weakling, only gets the rock a pathetic foot from himself, despite it being a small, light object. The rock doesn’t continue. It doesn’t break through the earth, and it doesn’t speed up past a certain point. In fact, at some point, its acceleration becomes negative, slowing it down.
Move it to space. Man throws rock. Rock accelerates at 1.4 m/s^2. Instead of the acceleration changing at some point, the lack of air to provide resistance causes the rock to continue speeding up, following the very well-known rule of physics of ‘an object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by an outside force’. Of course, in space, by the time this stone is acted upon by said outside force, it could be going the speed of a bullet, and on the off chance it were to hit into a ship, it could easily puncture all the layers of metal, grates, and fabric that seperated passengers from the outside.
Hold.
Now, before space travel, some of the population might not see this as a problem. Sure, the stone has pierced the ships wall, but it’s a small hole, and now the rock is out of motion, unable to do any damage. Just patch up the hole and done! Except, that thought process is one of idiots, and an object that has blasted a hole in your vessel has caused the air within the ship to travel outside of the ship. Some people found this hard to picture, as the air is clear, and so is space, if you looked past the fact that everything around you sans stars and planets seemed black in color.
A helpful visual to explain the phenomenon is found in studying a plastic bag of water. You fill the bag up, and place it in an empty tray. If you stab the bag, even just making a small hole, the water in the bag travels out of the bag, because there is no water in the tray originally. Since there are no molecules in space, the molecules in the ship want more room- being gases and all -and travel out.
Breathe out.
Pressure was a whole different beast. Now, a lot of people knew that the pressure under the ocean was different from the usual land-bound pressure, but space having a different pressure was something of the movies, unless you were one of people working to build ships. It became a common sort of knowledge around 2098, when a line of faulty ships were sold to the public, and promptly crumpled like tin cans when the airlock was opened, when the pressure ended up not being properly adjusted at the rate needed.
The market for ships decreased for a while after that, with a few news sources claiming space travel would be the kryptonite of mankind, which was truly a travesty, considering such a slip up would’ve been the perfect thing to hound the company for having lackluster safety checks rather than the entire concept itself. Traveling to the stars wasn’t the problem; the problem was traveling to the stars cheaply, overlooking issues in the process.
Repeat.
Many people found it weird that Kelvin Henrick, an engineer for spaceship weaponry systems, would be anxious about being in outer space. Many more found it weird that he went over every single thing that could go wrong to calm himself down, while doing his breathing exercises. After all, wouldn’t that make him more terrified? This was unfounded, mostly because Kelvin would get more anxious when he didn’t go through the ritual of sitting in his room, taking a few deep breaths, and then thinking of the most gruesome, common problems he could.
He was pretty sure that it was because, over all, he didn’t like the unknown. He didn’t like looking outside into the inky blackness and wondering ‘what was out there’, like a lot of travelers he met did, and he didn’t like not knowing the dangers of being in a tin can hurtling through the cosmos at lightspeed. The way he saw it, if he didn’t know the dangers, they could still happen; not knowing didn’t lower the statistical chance of a lone rubberband shattering the cockpit window and sucking those inside into space, nor would it stop the rest of the people in the ship from suffocating. Knowing was completely different, because if he knew, then he could fix it. At least, that was his best shot at fixing it, and he liked to think that he was lucky when it came to fixing dangerous problems with questionable solutions.
His team didn’t get it. They were comfortable not knowing, and they didn’t see how him being anxious was sated by knowing the facts and reciting them. Yet, he still found himself whipping around and swinging a wrench he had in his hand at the first person who touched his shoulder when he was in the middle of thought.
To be completely fair to himself, they should’ve learned by now. Sure, maybe he found a little joy in hitting Erin Jameson, the resident ‘muscle’ of the operation, across the face with a hard metal object, but he doubted she enjoyed the broken nose she now undoubtedly had. It would be an embarrassment to admit he’d done that to her, because Erin, for a lack of better wording, was ripped. 6”3 and the sort of person who had no qualms about wearing tank tops that looked like she’d flexed the sleeves off, she was an imposing figure. Kelvin, however, was on the opposite end of the spectrum; he was dwarfed by her, only standing at 5”3, with the only muscle mass he had hidden by long-sleeve Henleys and work gloves that went all the way to his elbow, nearly. She was the sort of person who beat you up for just looking at her. He was the sort who apologized when someone accidentally kicked him in the crotch.
“Jeez-us, Celsius! I was just comin’ in to check on you.” She said, and he could see blood in her mouth, which was nearly covered by her hands that were cupped beneath her bleeding nose. Not that it’d done much good; the blood had already gotten onto her shirt, which had been stained from previous instances of her startling him when he had a tool in his hands. And yet, she didn’t learn. They’d been going through this exact cycle every take-off for years; he would go to his room, get anxious, do his breathing his exercises, and then she would come in while he was zoned out completely, startling him and causing him to hit her with something in self defense against a non-existent threat.
He’d long passed the point of feeling bad, but mustered up a sympathetic look as he offered her an old washcloth from his work bench. She took it, holding it to her nose, and raising her eyebrows at him in a way, as if prompting him to do something. She always did. He’d said sorry impulsively at first, but then realized that at some point, it’d become just her fault for continuing to do what she did.
“Sorry. My bad.” He said lamely anyway, rubbing the wrench on his pants, getting rid of the blood that had splattered on it. People would get the wrong idea if they saw dried blood on any of his tools. He may have worked with mercenaries, but he liked to think he wasn’t one of them. His weapons killed, not him. He was exempt from judgement.
He was sure the rest of the crew on the rust bucket they called the Pathfinder also liked to think they were exempted from judgement. After all, they were all being paid! It wasn’t their fault they needed money to live their lives and put food on the table. At the end of the day, though, Kelvin was the only one who didn’t pull the trigger. He was the most innocent person on that ship, though you couldn’t have guessed it from how Erin was looking at him.
“Yea. Your bad.” She confirmed, nodding her head as if that settled it, whatever ‘it’ happened to be. He could never quite tell what was going through her head; Ivaan, the pilot, liked to say she had the eyes of a dog. ‘You can look into them and try to figure them out, but there ain’t anything going on back there’. If she ever heard that, Ivaan probably would find himself being the next case of airlock murder. “Shouldn’t let you within a foot of anything when you’re thinkin’, it’s bad luck.”
“It’s not bad luck, it’s just that I intend to hit you and I’m lucky enough to have something present to do it with.” He corrected, kicking the lock pad beneath the seat of his chair, which allowed it to spin once more so he could face her. The chair was something he’d picked up from their last hit and tinkered with a bit, as a personal project. It was the sort that hovered above its base, not needing any support, and could be adjusted with a flick of the wrist. Unfortunately, this meant it was rather finicky, and had sent him flying on multiple occasions due to unfortunate timing and poor forethought. He’d installed a lock on it so it wouldn’t be able to turn or move when he didn’t want it to, which effectively lowered the possibility of him getting a concussion through incompetence on his own part. “And no one else has had any issues. It’s just you. You should reset your nose, or it’s going to heal crooked. Did you need something?”
She rolled her eyes, tossing the rag to the side once she was done with it onto the floor, causing him to cringe slightly. He debated telling her off for not keeping his space neat, but didn’t have the time to interject before she was speaking again. “Yea, yea, yea. I’ve done this enough times that I know the ups and downs of you hittin’ me in the face.” She waved a hand, dismissing the thought, and he made a mental note to never care her health again, if she was going to be like that. “Now, Rocky’s gathering the troops in the dining area, wants you there to explain what not to touch ‘n all. Think you can handle that, Celsius?”
‘Rocky’ was the same person as Ivaan, just given a stupid nickname due to Erin thinking it was only right to have team code names. The same went for Celsius; she’d grappled onto the one science fact she knew, that Celsius and Kelvin measured temperature, and had switched them up just to annoy him. It worked, of course. He hated his name, and it wasn’t as if he chose it. If he could, he would hide it, never let it be shown again, and just go by some shortened version. Unfortunately, the forms for being hired required full names, and so both Ivaan and Erin had been able to see his actual, stupid name. Ivaan just had the decency to let him get away with calling himself Kel.
Instead of answering, he set the wrench down on the table, getting up and walking by her, straightening his overalls as he went. He was aware he looked a bit of a mess, with his hair sticking up around his goggles and only one pant leg rolled up above his ankle, but the new crewmates would need to get used to it. They were living together, and they’d see worse over the coming weeks. If anything, he was prepping them. He was the best out of the 3 consistent crew members, and if they couldn’t handle him, then they might just be throwing themselves out into space.
He made his way down the hall, taking his goggles off completely as he went, letting them hang around his neck. He could hear Erin walking behind him, through the creaking of the metal grate walkway. Almost everything on the ship made some sort of noise; the halls were surrounded in pipes, which puffed and settled constantly, and there was the gentle thrum of the machinery. Personally, he preferred the ever-present sound. It was comforting in comparison to the quiet, because if it was quiet, then something was wrong.
He ducked into the dining area, not bothering to let the machine doors open entirely as was his privilege being small, and took a look around the room. In the center sat a table that he remembered playing around with, with a screen in the center able to project holographic images. Around it were metal chairs with red cushioning, the ones that looked deceivingly soft but had caused him more back problems than he could count, and to the side, the video wall played a slideshow of different ‘soothing’ pictures, cycling through rainforests and beaches, things that made him more homesick than relaxed.
He slipped into a chair by Ivaan, who seemed to be rattling off the basic rules to the group of 3 that sat down the table from them, trying not to disturb them with his entrance, though taking the time to study them in an obvious manner. It was good to see what they had to work with for the mission. This kept him a little too occupied, and he found himself jostled out of his thoughts by Ivaan’s hand grabbing his shoulder in a careful manner. He flinched, but managed to not react too much.
“And this right here is our resident technician. You might be thinking that me and Erin are the head honchos around this place, but he’s the one who runs it.” Ivaan said, introducing him in a manner that made him seem a lot more influential that he actually was “If he tells you not to touch shit, you don’t touch shit, and if he tells you not to do something, you don’t do it. Yea?” He paused, for confirmation, then looked at Kelvin expectantly “Well? Introduce yourself.”
That made him want to sink into his chair and never be seen again. Really? What was this, grade school? He’d always hated icebreaker games in his youth. “....I’m Doctor Kel Henrik. I’ll be around the ship doing repairs on the weapons, machinery, and things like that. I’ll also provide technology.” He paused, then tacked on “Please. Don’t touch my things unless I explicitly tell you to.” Then, with that, he slumped in his seat, arms crossed. He hoped that signalled well enough that he was done.
This was going to be a long trip, wasn’t it? He could tell already.

An elderly man on a generation ship is convinced that the pilot computer is lying, and that the ship was not actually built, but created by God. He preaches his new religion and, slowly, he gathers followers.
After dozens of volcanoes erupt in a single day, the sky is blotted out by volcanic ash. With no sunlight, the earth begins to freeze.
A powerful advertising company announces that it is building its own city. Fifty thousand people move in and are given free food and housing, as long as they watch commercials on television. However, the advertising quickly moves from television to the real world, and become more and more intrusive, gradually increasing to the level of psychological torture.
Character A is a well known detective in the 1930s. They get called into a lot of cases, but lately has been getting more gruesome ones that are harder to solve. They all seem to be connected, but how is the question. The other is how Character B fits in, as they have been seen on all the scenes of such crimes.
Character A runs a haunted flower shop. Character B is the mischievous ghost that haunts said shop. Character B seems to think that Character A is the one that killed them, and that’s why they’ve set out to make Character A miserable. Character A knows that they haven’t killed anyone, thank you very much, and they set out to find who dunnit.
Character A has been losing a lot of stuff, lately. Actually, everything from their jacket to their extra buttons has just up and gone. Character B, a fairy-like creature currently residing in the basement of the house, seems to be the cause of it. But Character A can’t figure out why Character B is even here in the first place, or what they need all this stuff for.
Character A is a witch. Unfortunately, they’re a witch without a familiar. So, they set out to find one. Character B is one demon they come across, but seems to have no interest in helping them out. Character A tries to convince them
Character A is an assassin. They're used to going in, getting a job done, and leaving without anyone else figuring out what happened. Unfortunately, their plans keep getting thwarted by a civilian that seems to know their every move. Character B is able to keep A's targets alive in a pacifist manner every single time, and A isn't sure how the hell they do it.
Character A is a talented wizard that is trying to get into S.E.W, the Society of Esteemed Wizards. Unfortunately, they get noticed by the royal family, and hired to do damage control for Character B, the royal magician, who is extremely powerful, but can't cast a single spell to save their life.
MODERN SUPERNATURAL
- CANARY: A group of 6 miners(can be adjusted) get trapped in an abandoned mine. While finding a way to escape, they must survive the dangers that have risen up over time, as well as a malevolent spirit that uses their fears against them.
- WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JONATHAN GREEN: After a camper disappears from Sunny Shores camp, a few campers band together to figure out what happened to him, and to find out what is causing the weird happenings around the lake.
- EYERIS: CHI, or Conserving Human Ignorance, is a company run by supernatural creatures to keep the supernatural world hidden from humans. Humans souls are delicate, and having them influenced by the unnatural happenings that are around them would surely do some damage. However, as a group starts to place magical artifacts into the hands of humans, CHI is going to find its a lot harder to hide something that doesn't want to be hidden.
- SUITS: The seven deadly sins are, and always have been, humanized. However, as time goes on, they find themselves being forgotten and the feelings they represent abused. In attempts to gain some significance, they go out to show the world how horrible they make people in the best way they can think of. They start to work as an almost spy-like group, bringing out the worst in bad people and then showing it to the public.
- THE INN-BETWEEN: The Inn-Between is a inn found on the plane between life and death. Like purgatory, it is where lost souls go when they can't move on. The employees try their best to make sure everyone gets a chance at the afterlife.
- DEATH AT A LOW PRICE: Hotspots are pocket dimensions that can be accessed from a set point in every dimension. They allow dimension hoppers to travel to whatever dimension and time period they like, simply having to go in and then exit, appearing at the same point they entered each time. These are managed by the Hotspot Association, which is a strict, military-like organization. However, one of the hotspots is extremely different. It's a convenience store.
- OLD UNIVERSES: In the future, almost everything has died out. All thats left down on planets are ruins of past civilizations. Any living organisms, alien or human, now are on scavenger ships, flying the universe without purpose. The catch is, however, that none of them know what happened, and why all society has been wiped from existence.
- ORIGINS: After a dimension hop gone wrong, a crew crash lands in the past. They soon realize that they have altered the time line, and that they are what society viewed as the greek gods.
- LABYRINTH: Dimension hopping was supposed to be easy, but a group seems to be stuck in a never ending loop of pocket dimensions, facing different dangers as they attempt escape.
- SEASIDE: After waking up in a strange room with a voice in their head telling them what to do and no memory of who they are, a person must decide whether they should think for themselves to find out whats going on or go with the flow.
- DEPTHS: Empyrea-12 is the most well known prison in the galaxies. Its basically its own planet, with its own system of gravity that can be shut on and off. However, its also built ontop of layers of OLD prisons that were used in the past; levels that are now abandoned and left to disrepair. After being falsely accused due to some devious plot, [ character ] finds themselves in what is known as the 'depths', on the run from the guards with several others, some of whom are legitimate criminals that were there for good reason.
- ASHEN PLAINS: In a futuristic world, a planet is covered in biopyramids where everyone lives. Each one is separated into a different sort of 'biome', with different ways of life such as cities and ranches, with different ways to get energy, such as solar and steam, and it's hard to get between pyramids due to strict laws. When a company start distributing 'Liquid Luck', a substance that makes you extremely lucky for a set amount of time but comes with the downside of being addictive, the pyramid system as a whole starts to fall apart, due to various reasons.
- OF GOOD INTENTIONS AND BAD LUCK: The year is 3099, and space travel is now a common thing among the population. Aliens are well known, many worlds have been explored, and society is thriving. A group of mercenaries-turned-interstellar-search-and-rescue are sent to an abandoned planet to find the crew of a research vessel that hasn’t checked in for a few days. Instead of finding the crew, they end up unearthing a secret that they could kill them if anyone found out, but could destroy entire planets if kept under wraps.
- HILLSDALE: Stuck on a bus when the zombie apocalypse started, the Hillsdale Hornets, a highschool baseball team, must learn that teamwork isn't only important to the game. Their survival might now depend on it.
- THORNBURROW: After the plantpocalypse starts, the city of Thornburrow is sectioned off, leaving the survivors to die. After 2 years, a group bands together to find out what caused it.
- GEOCACHE!: In a modern day world filled with elves and dwarves, Geocaching has become popular. However, it is different from OUR version of geocaching. This is a dangerous, competitive sport. Those who play are like celebrities, taking on quests from the geocache app and going to the dangerous dungeons and areas where the caches are hidden. The rewards? For one, any object put into the caches will have a magical property when retrieved by the next group. The other is, if you become good enough, you will be entered in the championship, to compete against other players and teams for a generous cash prize.
- ACCIDENTAL HEROICS: Magic is banned. That has been a rule for many, many years. The only people allowed to use magic are the three heroes, raised from childhood to wield artifacts that are able to bond with someone. These people are trained to be heroes, and to bring the artifacts to their proper temples, never to be used again til the next batch of 'heroes' comes along. A petty thief accidentally ends up stealing one of the artifacts, the Book of Knowledge, and bonding with it, so its intended wielder no longer can.
- THE WIND MACHINE: The gods are gone. All that's left of them are god stones, scattered across the land, filled with power that could kill anyone that attempted to use them. This has caused issues. The land below the floating islands is now flooded, and all the poor, unfortunate people are stuck in a dangerous, watery apocalypse. Meanwhile, the floating islands are faltering, beginning to fail. Sky travel, by air ships, is now very dangerous without the help of the wind god. However, when an inventor is captured by a band of pirates, its found that they have found a way to wield the power of the god stone of wind through a machine they built.
- END OF LIGHT: A lighthouse caretaker is stuck down in a watery apocalypse, in the world mentioned above, making sure that their lighthouse is always running for the safety of others. They must do this no matter what, and they face various problems, including storms and angered sea monsters.
- DEAR CARNATION: Moving to a new town was hard. Finding out how weird it was was even harder. With things ranging from walking flowers being considered citizens to a unseen news anchor being considered a benevolent god, its going to be hard to stick around.
- AFTERLIFE: A bunch of people, 17 to 22 in terms of age, find themselves stuck in a boarding school of sorts without any memory. The staff claims that its so they can heal from a disease, which is tracked by a white band on their wrist, but there seems to be more going on. Once people in the Afterlife program begin to die mysteriously, it becomes apparent that something must be done.
