Lore:

Up until almost a decade ago, magical girls were hidden from the world. Each generation´s guardian selected a group of girls worldwide to fight , if they chose to, against the "apparitions". To do this, a magical girl would allow herself to be possessed by a magical entity for the fight´s duration. This proved to be, however, insufficient, as a particularly powerful apparition appeared and caused such massive damage to several cities, that hiding them or the magical girls was no longer viable. Furthemore, the magical girls were almost extinct in that fight.

When a new generation of magical girls was created, the requirements had become a little more loose. Furthermore, since magical girls remained the ideal way to fight against the apparitions, they received support, with technology being developed in cooperation with the latest guardian to improve the abilities of magical girls. To account for the lack of the former purity and righteous ideals, magical girls were given quotas to fulfill, but their acts made them heroes, celebrities.

A divide spawned with magical girls rising in status. The support and number of magical girls made it so over time, some (even magical girls themselves) began seeing their actions as performances. Publicity , broadcasting, even magical girl tournaments were created. But in spite of all this, magical girls retained their status in society: Apparitions kept coming and the only ones that could defend humanity from them were magical girls.

Plot:

One day, the same mysterious entity that gives magical girl the magical entity that possesses them announced the beginning of a game, a treasure hunt. Find all the pieces of the staff of origination (name subject to change) and you will be given an extraordinary price. But more importantly, you will be given the ability to destroy the very source of the apparitions, thus eliminating them forever.

About this roleplay (other information):

Hi everyone! So, I wanted to give you some extra info here that you may want to consider.

-There is no level of detail to this roleplay, in terms of length. Any length is acceptable, so long as you meet the content minimum.

-Players will play magical girls, or normal girls/boys. Each player will be allowed up to two characters. Do keep in mind there is more about magical girls than what is above, so take that into consideration before coming up with a character.

-my co-GM is the fantastic @Klhoine .

I hope I captured your interest. Either way happy RPing!

interested? Let me warn you since I know you don´t like very complex things, that there is quite a bit to know about how they´re powers work on this roleplay...

I've been dying for a Magical Girl roleplay since @magicalpride's failed to get off the ground. You're right, though, it'd pay off to be a bit cautious going into this one... The absolute least I'll do is take a look and seriously consider it, though :)

alright. If ya bless me with ya presence in the end, glad to have ya on board! xD

Question. How much would I be missing out on if I signed up as a normal Human? (Thus bypassing the need for me to understand how MG magic works)

Given the core of this roleplay is magical girls the central conflicts and it´s main branches practically only affect magical girls. With the exception of the way the "treasure hunt" game may affect the structure of society, the plot and events will have nothing to do with your character. That means your character´s investment, relevance and point would be entirely up to how skillfully you can generate a conflict for them and how well you can make them interact with characters that are naturally more immersed in the central plot. This, of course, is little of a disadvantage if any at all, but it is far more challenging on the roleplayers.

The only other thing would be that your character is pretty much powerless, assuming you don´t want to read up on the tech either. If you DO want to read on the tech, you might have weaponry at your disposal and participate in certain fights, but as a full normal human you´d get squashed just by entering in disagreement with certain people. Moreover, lacking powers would be , for some (such as myself), a big gap in customization. However, once again this gap can be bridged through something that doesn´t take as much on the brain to remember, but may take more skill to pull off, and that is having a side role. Some other, side function that your character alone would provide. Though, come to think of it, that may take you having to read the CSs of the other people...

Hmm. Alright.

My idea was pretty much as follows: I have a character who is good with computers, and has a laptop with many advanced hacking tools installed onto it that she uses for her work for a goodwill hacking circle (They take contracts from people who need help, and assign their members to assist them). I was thinking she could act as a kind of command-and-control for one or more Magical Girls, giving her more chance to stay relevant even though she's not physically part of the action. What do you think?

Given there is governmental interference due to the fact that governments assist the magical girls by giving them tech, having someone as a command center would be expected... Sounds like an excellent idea to me!!! xD  She´d probably be a new one, though, and you will likely still have to read up on the tech with that role, otherwise it´s not conceivable she´d ever get such a position from anyone...

Fair enough. I can give you a full overview of her resume over PM if you'd like, too, so we can tailor her introduction to the roleplay.
