Clockwork Syringe

The Night Blade
Uneasiness, excitement, fear, wariness; these were the emotions that were currently running through the incoming class of Rodren University. On this auspicious day it was an overcast sky as the sun hung lazily behind the blankets of clouds refusing to come out. The smell of freshwater hung in the air as a soft breeze passed through creating an almost idyllic scene. In order to get to Rodren University, one had to take the ferry across a lake that was fed and exited via the tributaries, one that had not arrived yet. The Dock creaked with activity as students, workers, and the like were passing the time waiting by playing cards, reading, fishing, and drawing, to name a few activities. Still, it didn't look as though too many individuals were bored as they had something to occupy their time with.

Zenima was one of the few who had decided to go fishing, one of his hobbies and one he picked up during his time with the Dawn Rose. It was a nice distraction and allowed him time to think as he waited for the ferry to arrive. Looking back briefly he couldn't be sure of the circumstances that led to his consideration and acceptance at Rodren; who was this Headmaster Richard Ophidian? It seemed that his commander knew who he was, which is why he reluctantly let Zenima go to the academy; he was losing a valuable mercenary and one that had been with the guild for a few years despite how young he was. Zenima wanted to go, he needed to, if he had any chance of recovering his memories he would take it. Looking around he noticed that he was one of the more heavily armed individuals on the dock. A rapier at his side, a shield on his arm, and knives hidden away. Clutching the amulet he kept hidden under his armor, he sighed a bit. He was found with this on that fateful day 8 years ago, the furthest back he could remember, what was this amulet? Stashing it away and leaning back on the wooden railing, Zenima continued to fish, perhaps he'd be able to find lunch before the ferry arrived.

Sishu was sat at one of the card tables set up for the dock's visitors while they waited for the ferry. Her fox ears and tail flawlessly concealed by magic, a skill she had been practicing for several years now, she passed as just another normal, blonde human having a laugh with the other people as they played their game. Though it wasn't the game she would rather have been playing; She'd suggested a classic poker game (With no real money on the line, naturally, as the people here were far away from their homes and needed to avoid spending frivolously) but everyone else at the table insisted on playing that godsforsaken Hold-'Em game where everyone only had two cards and shared the rest on the table. Not that she disliked the game, it had been a good opportunity to practice her Divination back home to try and predict what cards might come up even if she wasn't good enough at that for it to work very often, if at all, or to see what was in the other players' hands to tell if they were bluffing. But now she was surrounded by people who were all coming to study magic just like her, and she knew they would probably be able to tell that something was up if she used that trick, so she had to rely on her wits and intelligence alone to try to win instead. Which, granted, was still getting her some wins. But she still really wished she could see what the other players had. That would make everything so much easier.

"Ahh..." She sighed, seeing that she'd lost again "Darn, I thought I had you there. One of these rounds I'm gonna get you, just you wait!" She told her temporary rival, signaling for them to deal her in again. Despite the frustration of losing so much, she was still having a decently fun time bantering with these people. She wondered if she would be seeing any of them inside the University. She'd just have to wait and see. In the meantime, she was determined to gain at least a small victory on this guy who kept beating her whenever they went head-to-head at the table.

Kanon

Sitting on the corner of the dock was a figure drapped in white robe. Her oversized floppy white hat covered her face from direct sunlight and a bag with a setting sun motif on it was laid next to her. She was reading a book with an eye symbol on the cover.

Psst, Kanon. Give me a grilled fish.

A telepathic voice broke her focus. Kanon glanced down towards her own shadow, where a pair of slender vertical eyes could be seen briefly before fading back into the darkness.

"Cat instinct?" Kanon casually asked while trying hard to put more focus on her book.

Nooo, not cat instinct! I am much much much more than a cat! I am THE half angel half demon half demigod half eldritch being. My desire for grilled fish is just beyond your comprehension, mortal! Back then I don't need to-

Kanon realized that if she didn't make him stop, Eeriel would start rambling about his past experiences in the kingdoms long gone or something like that, like he usually did. While the story itself can be quite fascinating regardless of its validity, listening to the same stories for 82th time would be boring even for her. Sometimes he was not much different than a senile grandpa.

"Allright. I will get you one." Closing her book, Kanon begrudingly stood up and looked at the edge of the dock where a few people were trying their luck in fishing. Her eyes darted between the people there and her attention was drawn by a particular person who was quite overgeared compared to the others. A sword and shield? From the military??

"Hey, let me buy the next fish you catch." Kanon said to the man, then before she got any reply she just sat down near him, opened her book and continued her read.

Zenima was concentrating on fishing when he noticed someone approaching him; a girl wearing white robes and an oversized floppy white hat. "Hey, let me buy the next fish you catch" was all she said before she simply sat down next to him before awaiting his confirmation.

Turning to look at her with a raised eyebrow he absent mindedly said "I'm used to doing more dangerous things for money, I consider this sport so you don't need to pay me for this fish. Or rather, you can pay me what you want to doesn't matter to me." Zenima then turned his attention back to the lake as he awaited his catch. It sure seemed that there were not many fish around, but this was probably due to the increased feet on the dock causing a ton of noise. Just as he seemed to get discouraged the top of his fishing pole began to bend down signaling that there was indeed a fish on the line. Watching and waiting carefully for the fish to take the bait, he did not move as he was afraid he would lose it. Suddenly the fish took the bait and Zenima hastily began to bring in the fish. Pulling it up, it was a small yet decently sized fish so unhooking it wasn't too much trouble. He then held the fish by its' gills and turned to the girl. "I hope you weren't expecting a bigger one. By the way, you here to join the academy?"

Sigui near the end of the dock in patient meditation. His entire body was enshrouded with an otherworldly light that pulsated with mystical power. While outwardly pretty and seemingly ephemeral. In truth this was merely an exercise concocted by Sigui to hone his magecraft. Through covering his body with a layer of magical energy with Abjuration Magic. He would then use Transmutation magic to modify the layering to filter out all strong smells. It was a simple but effective technique that allowed Sigui to train while he needed to be immobile. Retreating into his own little bubble of bliss. Sigui shut out all distractions around him in order to focus on his training. Having only broken through to Tier 2 fairly recently. He knew that any sliver of sloth would prove detrimental to his cultivation. Thankfully the alchemical mixture he had taken this morning had completely removed any exhaustion left from his restless slumber. The reason for his restlessness was simple. Today was the day he would enter the tutelage of Rodren University. An establishment that specialized in the instruction of magic users. He had decided to attend in order to further his foundation for breaking through to higher Tiers of power.

Kamaria paid little attention to the others that gathered near the dock. She had arrived last night, taking refuge in a nearby tree. As the area started to jostle with life the more chances were for her being seen. Kamaria wasn't hiding of course, she rested on a head high branch throw a ball formed from a sack into the air then catching it once more. Her emotions were concealed by her covering but her face was bent in uneasiness. She was excited to go. Her deities had granted her such wonderful blessing, it would be disrespectful to not use them to her fullest capabilities. She had hoped that showing how deciatec she was to master the arts in magic would strengthen the bond with the goddess Denilma.

Observant ears picked up the word academy. Kamaria turned her head to get a better look at the ones that gathered below her. All of them could have been here for the ferry, but which were heading to same place as her? The arrival of a much welcomed guest interrupted her thoughts. A garter snake had slithered its way up her torso. 'What do you think?' She spoke nothing, projecting her thoughts to the snake as if it could understand her. She patted it's head and turned back to the group.

'The blond' She was taller than Kamaria, but with softer more childlike features. Her eyes then drifted over to the skinny fellow with red hair. She shared an unspoken joke with the snake, feeling that they both should eat more. Kamaria wouldn't have guessed that the man fishing was also going to the academy. Had he not say anything, Kamaria would have overlooked him. She didn't make a mental note of the one dressed in all white. She was too obvious for Kamaria to need to guess, it was a given. She watched the snake slither away , wanting to find a cool spot. With that brief moment of entertainment gone, she went back to throwing her ball in the air.

"Thank you, I will take your offer then." Kanon accepted the fish from Zenima and immediately jammed her knife into it, killing the fish instantly. Then with gentle precision she cut the stomach open and threw away the guts. Quick, clean, neat. She's used to cut human open for surgery, gutting fish was like a practice for her.

"Here for the academy, yes. Can't wait to read their library, yes. Though I never go to school before." She replied with a flat tone as she was putting her focus on the fish on her hand. She pulled a frying pan from her bag and put the fish on it. Then she opened a flask and poured its transparent yellowish content into the pan.

"Ignite." For a brief moment, observant person might be able to saw that the blood on the fish vanished before the yellowish liquid combusted into bright flame. In prestiguous restaurants this kind of trick would be used to make the food serving more exciting, but Kanon just watched silently as the food was burning and when the flame faded out, the result was unsurprisingly charred black.

"Finished." Kanon unceremoniously dumped the food on the dock's floor, within her shadow. It took a few seconds before the fish slowly sunk into her shadow as Eeriel claimed his prize.

Yuck! It's a burnt carp! Kanon could hear the cat's telepathic wince but she decided to ignore him for now.

"I changed my mind. I will pay for the fish. Hope you like candies." She handed Zenima a sack filled with hardened honey.

Hedda rushed to the docks- whew, still on time! Very, actually. And here he'd thought he'd have to swim across the lake. He fidgeted, trying to find the ferry. Hedda guessed that he still could, but it would be pretty embarrassing if he was caught by one of those hawks flying overhead as a dumb fish.
Still, that didn't stop him from hanging his mouth open like one. Wow! So many amazing people gathered around here- there's a mysterious looking girl in that tree over there. And he just saw a another girl cut away at a fish like a artist right next to a super tough-looking guy- and woah, what is with that glowy firefly guy at the dock? What kind of magic is that? He blinked at everything with wide eyes.

Pharna now feels a lot more smaller than this.
Wow. Hey. Hedda made a weak laugh to himself, feeling a little out of place. He's going to have to compete with these people. But on the other side, just as many people to make friends with!
Hedda took in his surroundings again. A new world-

-his stomach rumbled. Oh right. He quickly scooted over to a food stall, grabbing himself some chicken skewers, and wandered back around a makeshift gambling table full of people who looked around his age. Maybe fellow students? Oof- that was just a close round. Hedda inwardly cheered the blonde girl on.

Estella took as much of a breath as she could in. It had been a while since she'd travelled to a lively place like this. Usually when she'd been able to visit one of her older sisters. Apparently, this kind of place tended to have a distinct odor to it, or perhaps a collection of odors, a distinct sensory bouquet that spoke volumes of the people and things that led their lives around here.

Every few exhalations, a thin plume of water vapor escaped her mask, preventing the humidity of the air from affecting her. She couldn't smell it, but perhaps she could capture it. Sitting down on one of the stairways that led down to the moorings for smaller boats, she got out her pen and sketchbook. Looking down at the water and up at the sky, inspiration came. Bolts of lightning against a dark sky for each fish she saw, ripples shaking the air like the cacophony of voices she was hearing...

Taking in the scenery, her eyes wandered before one of the trees close by grabbed her gaze. The way the leaves were swaying, the way the branches drooped ever so slightly...a Silvershore Willow would never act like that, least of all during this weather.

Someone was sitting in there, heavier than a bird or cat. Though they were keeping their balance well and spreading their weight out...they were a good climber.

Was it a new practice to do this in the city? Her curiosity piqued, Estella got up, dusted herself off, and walked over to the tree.

"Salutations!" Her breath hissed as she put effort into her speech. "Must be a nice view you're having up there!"

Exer had a sort of quiet excitement regarding his entrance into Rodren Academy, especially considering the slightly confusing nature of the letter that he received regarding his acceptance into the prestigious school, considering his background. What kind of strings did his mother pull, or who's attention did he garner in order to get a recommendation to get into the academy? It had nothing to do with skill or potential after all, the use of his magic had been rather secret, with only him and his family knowing about his knowledge and relative progress regarding his status as an Arcane Externus, and his growing specialty in short range combat magic. Whatever the case may be, this was an opportunity, something he earned and had to prove that he had earned it. He knew what it was like to be hungry, and now he was hungry for this, for more knowledge, more status, more skill. His cold gray eyes stared out at the other side of the lake, waiting impatiently for the boat to finally arrive at the Dock so that he could hurry up and get started. There was a focus in his coldness, one that seemed hell-bent on getting to the other side.

It wasn't too long though before Exer would grow bored, the long hooded tunic cardigan that he wore flapping slightly with the lakeside's winds, before he reached into the bag that was slung over his shoulder, pulling out a sketchbook. If he had enough time to stare, he had enough time to finish a new design. Turning away from the edge of the dock, he made his way through the group of people and conversations, plopping himself underneath a tree and sketching out some new design that he could try making once everything was settled with all of this academy business. The mage looked around at all the other students around, noting their possible places of origin and status, with his expression being relatively clear with each new figure his eyes seemed to gloss over. "This design should be striking."

The next round of cards were dealt, and Sishu had a look at what she'd gotten. Q♠ and Q♡. That was a pretty good hand. She called the blind, just wanting to see who would play at the moment, and watched as the rest of the table either called as well, or folded. Then came the Flop, the first three community cards on the table, which would be shared by all of the people playing. 9♠, 3♢, and Q♣. That gave her a three of a kind right off the bat, which was amazing. She made a bet, making sure it wasn't a big one so the other players wouldn't know something was up. Her table-rival called along with one of the other players, with the rest folding at that point. Then the Bridge came, J♠. That did nothing for her, but at this point she felt like it didn't matter, how much of a chance was there that someone would beat three Queens? She made another bet, which her rival raised, and the third player folded. Quite confident still, she met her rival's raise, and waited for the Turn, one additional card added to the community pack... It was another Jack, a J♢. She had a full house, now.

This was it, Sishu was sure this would be the point where she'd get her revenge on her rival. There was no way he had another two queens, because that would make five total on the table, and that was more than there were in the deck. And two Jacks wouldn't help him, because her Queens beat that. There was a chance that he might have a flush, but that would rely on him having two Spades or Diamonds and the final community card also being the same as whatever he had as well. While it was possible, at this point it was a risk she was willing to take for a chance to win this game. She made a larger bet than before. Her rival raised it by a little bit, and she called his bet. Now it was time for the River. It was a 6♡, ruining any chance that her rival might've had for a flush. Alright, She thought to herself, it was time to throw down. After one more round of betting, they revealed their hands, Sishu showing off the full house that she'd accumulated. Her rival showed his hand as well, a K♢ and a 10♡. That meant she won, right? There were no other Kings or 10s even on the board than his own, and clearly the suits didn't matter because there were so few cards that matched his suit... So why was he betting so confidently up until now? After thinking about it for a few moments, it suddenly hit her.

9♠, 10♡, J♠, Q♣, K♢

Oh gods damn it, the lucky bastard got a straight!

Acting comedically dejected, Sishu congratulated him on his win and let him take the pot. She then laughed along with the rest of the table about the win before getting up, figuring that was probably enough of that game for now. She bade her game-partners farewell, and walked away from the table, noticing that someone had been spectating them. Figuring he had just witnessed that last round, she decided to make a comment about it as she approached him "I swear that guy must be cheating, he's way too good at this game." She said, jokingly "I mean, who gets a hand like that?"

Zenima watched as the girl took his fish and began to rather expertly work on preparing it for consumption. It was if she knew what she was doing.

"Here for the academy, yes. Can't wait to read their library, yes. Though I never go to school before." She hadn't gone to school before? that was interesting perhaps she had been homeschooled or learned on her own like he did. Of course he was interested as she ignited the fish with a spell, but not before he saw that the blood had vanished right as the flame combusted. This was getting curiouser and curiouser the more he observed the girl and he was about to ask about why the fish was charred so badly before she dropped it on the ground causing Zenima to unintentionally utter a "what?" from his lips. He was about to ask more questions when he saw that the fish was "Consumed" by the shadow. "Oh" was Zenima's response before the girl responded as well.

"I changed my mind. I will pay for the fish. Hope you like candies." The girl then handed him a sweet smelling sack of sorts that when he looked inside was revealed as honey cubes. Although he was not the hugest fan of sweets, he couldn't turn down someone's payment after they decided not to pay him initially.

"Thank you," Zenima began. "I was wondering how you knew magic without ever going to a school, but you answered my question. So in return I'll say that mine developed during my time with the Dawn Roses Company."

Rhea Valqen
A figure stood a short distance from the docks. Her yellow eyes seeming to almost glow from the distance the slit like pupil glancing out across the various people gathered upon the dock. Animal like ears sat upon the top of her head twitching a bit as the sounds of the various people talking were picked up quite easily despite being a short distance away, the ears seeming to shift ever so slightly almost like an antenna fixating or focusing towards particular people talking to hear what they had to say a bit more clearly. Her sleeveless black and red outfit held to her frame the gold trim adding a bit more flare it its appearance. Her hands lifted up brushing her fingertips across the red hood, hesitant as she seemed prepared to lift it up, biitng her bottom lip as she refrained from doing so. Her hands seeming to isntead focus on roughly brushing at her locks, her second set of ears so briefly teasing out as she seemed to try and fix her hair elected to try and hide her human like ears instead.

It's better that way... yeah... stupid ears show off anyways... easier to hide them if I won't be able to have my hood up all the time. I'm sure... yes... no... yes Rhea! Focus! Its all going to be alright. You just gotta wow them and they will be all cool with you! Show them your great and no one will think about looking down on you!

Rhea pushed her hands against her cheeks as if to prep herself up. Blinking her eyes as her hands slid away brushing so carefully as to make sure her locks were down to hide away her human ears as what looked to be red eyeliner accented her eyes... granted a closer look would reveal far more it was a natural part of her appearance. At least it was something that she felt far less threatened for the fact others might give her odd looks about possibly then her ugly ears. She tugged upon her short black and gold trim shorts the material reaching down stopping just above her knees. A pair of dark leather boots fitting on her feet stopping halfway up her shin before her black stockings rose all the way up stopping just above her knees. The teen's yellow orbs shifted glancing about as if trying to make a plan of attack. She was nervous she might fumble her first impression so it was best she focused her efforts carefully. One at a time right! A lone target!

Rhea's eyes eventually shifted to that of the one red head meditating at the end of the dock. A possible target but... boring. Who could just meditate? That seemed like it would be rather dull quickly. Not to mention she might disturb him and make him mad at her. The fact he was right at the docks also wasn't quite.. ideal for her. Her eye shifted finally noticing another boy sitting down under a tree. Not quite as distant from others but isolated enough that it would work. Her best bet to make a good impression with someone right? There was no one else that seemed quite as easy to engage with in her 'tactical' mindset.

She lifted her hand punching it gently into her open fist as a little gesture to psych herself up. Shifting the little rope on her back keeping her spear in place behind her back making sure it was secure as she ventured forward with a sense of conviction. She shimmied around others feeling a sense of nervousness creep up though swallowing the feeling down not letting such things bog her mind wanting to come off strong and confident. That was the way you got people to respect you and like you. She stopped before him noticing he seemed to be sketching something. Being clueless to what it was she opted for the only natural greeting she could think of... which was nothing at first though she managed to fumble together something to say.

"Hey, you there! Um... nice... day right? What is it you are doodling?" She spoke with... about as much elegance as one might expect for someone trying to fumble together something to say without really having much of a good plan in place. Mentally she was smacking herself in the head though she tried to keep that side of her hidden. The girls yellow eyes fixated down at him putting on a light fake smile. Her ears perhaps seeming to unintentionally show a bit of her own 'cringe' at herself being lowered as if trying to cower away from what she saw as a bit of a blunder hoping by some miracle she did a decent job trying for a first impression.

Exer Bestel

2c8a8aea8f3a23aef0a19a4d5d8ac217.jpg

Exer had been carefully sketching out a new design, something for him to make a mark alongside his magic in order to distinguish himself from the rest, enough to show them he meant business, enough to show them that he was hungry. They were definitely an upgrade from the current set of rags he had on at the very least. They were rags he was proud of, but rags nonetheless. Hopefully the school would have some better fabric., or at least would look the other way if he modified the uniform (if they even had one). Just as he was putting on some of the finishing details, a voice awakened him from his focus, his eyes slowly moving up to meet the figure that was standing above him.

It took all but a moment for the mage to look back down at his sketchbook and get right back to work, his pencil scratching away at the paper as the two designs (1 / 2) were coming to life. "Yeah, beauty in nature n' all that. I'm not doodlin' by the by, sketchin' out some new outfit designs I might try my hand at later, to make sure I catch some eyes." Exer looked up for a moment, scanning the presumably other student's outfit as the words were coming to him. Though he wasn't the type to help someone out, this could be a golden opportunity to ensure that someone was on his side, and he was well aware that kindness could be used to one's advantage. "Maybe I could try my hand at somethin' for ya too, if ya don't want to be walkin' around in... that. It works but could use some touch ups if ya wanna be makin' the best impression ya know."

The young man took a bit more time examining the girl's outfit, carefully looking at the seams and making some assessments of the type of fabric it must have been made out of. Certainly stuff that he hadn't seen in the Lowest Ring, but that was true for most of the people that seemed to have been waiting for this damned boat to show up. "Normally I'd charge a bit for designing and weaving a whole outfit, but consider it a gesture a good will or whatever ya wanna call it. Don't reckon any money will be doin' us much good at an academy anyhow."

Showing up at the docks later than most but he did for a reason wanting to get a good walk done and see who all showed up. He knew that everyone here would be going to going. But Oelde couldn't help but look around to see all the people who could be attending the university with him. Whoever is in charge of recruiting seems to be pretty good at their job seeing all the interesting individuals spread around. As he made his way through the crowd using his staff as a cane all while his magic orb hovered around him. It was a bit of a problem at times always having a magic orb flying around him every day all day but he was used to it by now. When reached the docks itself leaned on them and just watched the sea and the birds that fly over it looking very relaxed as he did.

Not talking to anyone in particular "The sea is nice today isn't it almost makes you want to dive." his orb now and then coming into view as it revolves around him. He looks over to see some people fishing he thought it was a nice way to pass the time. Another guy was glowing for whatever reason but was pretty cool nonetheless. Gamblers seeming like they are having fun. If these are the people he will go to university with he won't lack time.

Kamaria was use to strange exchanges, no one walks up to a vied templar unprovoked and it not be strange. The company of the snake friend she had made was less hospital. As the elf's face drew near, the scaled creature lunged out. It's body was just enough out of reach to not make any contact, the biggest threat being open jaws and a hiss. Kamaria in response looked over the woman, eyes narrowing with observation. The human rolled off the branch, catching herself with her left hand so she hovered just above the ground. Feet now on ground Kamaria grabbed her staff, all but forgetting that the elf had greeted her. Not to far off she noticed a patch of grass growing taller than its surroundings.

Kamaria left the woman with no acknowledgement, padding over with bare feet to the patch of grass. Her focus was now there, plucking the pieces she found useful and placing them in her satchel.

"Ah...!" The snake was far too small to deal anything beyond the slightest damage with its fangs, Estella had been stung worse by plants before. Nor would its venom cause anything other than mild irritation to a larger being like her.

Still, she couldn't help flinching as it lunged, her body instinctively freezing up as her breath picked up in a series of high-pitched hisses.

The snake's master(?) for her part, barely acknowledged Estella, rolling out of the tree and moving over to patch of grass.

Shaking her head a little to regain her senses, Estella followed shortly behind her, observing closely. Here was the first chance in a long time to make a new acquaintance, apparently one who liked plants, too.

"O-oh, you're gathering grasses, are you?" She leaned in inquisitively. "Indeed, that one's for fever, this one stops bleeding..." Turning to reach into her own bag, Estella produced a small vial of clear yellow oil. "Perhaps you should hold onto this! You see, if you dip the parts of the grasses you cut in this, they'll take much longer to dry out! W-which means they don't lose their...potency..."

Just the slightest bit embarrassed by the one sided conversation, Estella held out the vial to Kamaria as a gift.

Kanon

"Dawn Rose, huh. I see..." Kanon nodded in acknowledgement, just for courtesy. She didn't actualy care about the origin of the other people. Eeriel, however, seemed to be interested in Zenima.

I can sense his blood is unordinary. Kanon, get a few drops of his blood so i can have a taste.

"That sounds like a pain." Kanon said frustatingly. Though she immediately remembered that other people couldn't hear Eeriel's telepathy and she just looks like she was talking to herself. Kanon quickly throw whatever in her mind in a desperate attempt to hide her embarassment.

"I... I make medicine, and candies, and cosmetic, and hygiene products and do surgery. If you need some you can talk to me, bye."

She decided to just walk away from the other student and stuck herself back in the corner. Her face was once again buried inside her book.

Nooo. The blooood.

"Shut up."

Rhea blinked as he explained his 'doodles' or what they were suppose to be. The girl blinking and nodding along as if she fully understood what he was talking about, at least not immediately. The idea of someone designing and creating clothing wasn't something she really thought all that much about despite the fact to some extent her own outfit had been tailored to at least fit her. Not that she could say she was around for when that was done. It was more so a gift for her as something a bit nicer to wear from her adopted father. Rhea heard him mention designing her outfit as he seemed to take a jab at her current outfit, the girl nodding seeming to not think all that much about it. The girl simply nodding along a bit as he spoke.

"Yeah I... wait... what are you trying to say about my outfit?" She spoke as her ears perked up suddenly becoming alert reading a bit more into the context of what he said. The girl puffing out her cheeks in response getting a bit more defensive. The girls cheeks tinting a light hue of red mixing a bit of embarrassment with her anger. The girl puffing her cheeks a bit out in response. Her eyes fixating on him. Her ears remaining lifted up.

"My outfit is fine, thank you! It fits snuggly and I can move around in it and all!" She spoke out her hands resting to her sides tightened into firsts. Perhaps a bit childish on her part though it tended to be her typical way to respond when she felt she was being slighted in some way to lash out and try and act tough. The girl's yellow slitted eyes gazing at him as if trying to piece daggers at him from her gaze. Besides what did he mean by the whole money bit? She didn't exactly live in a place were money was exchanging hands as often as bartering goods off if any sort of trade was to happen. Then again Cyran had likely used coin from time to time to buy certain goods when she wasn't around. She could only assume by some of the goods he had they weren't objects that could easily be found locally and traded for.

Zenima listened to girl's response before he was taken a bit by surprise by her response.

"That sounds like a pain." Of course she then quickly responded with a mention of her skills as a medic as well as some sort of craftsman. Zenima nodded at her response and replied to her.

"The Dawn Roses was indeed a difficult experience growing up, I'll leave you to your book." Turning around and packing up his fishing pole Zenima looked around as to where that ferry was.

~Must be running late~ he thought. ~Might be here sooner rather than later.~ While he was looking around he noticed several things had transpired during his conversation with the girl. The gambling table had a rather stunning hand just now it seemed as he noticed another girl stand up from the table and begin talking to another guy a around Zenima's age. He also noticed another guy who was sketching something talking to a girl with-. Zenima did a double take for a moment, ~Are those animal ears?~ He had never seen someone like that before, maybe he should go talk to the two. His attention was also drawn to two other individuals of which one was fully masked and the other had her lower face covered by some sort of contraption. ~Ok, I've got three choices here of who to talk to before the ferry arrives.~ Zenima thought to himself. ~Do I talk to the girl with the animal ears the elven girl with the contraption like thing is on her lower face or the girl who just stood up from the gambling table? Man this is tough because each group has something interesting. You know what? I'll play it safe and I'll go talk to the first group. I am an accomplished gambler after all, lets just go with that.~ Picking up his supplies, he trudged over to the two individuals and spoke to the girl first.

"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice that you left the gambler's table over there. How'd you fair? You take all their money?" Zenima chuckled.

Hedda laughed along, nodding. "Maybe they cast some kind of luck charm! Consolidation prize? He handed out an untouched chicken skewer, "You held a good game, still!"

"Are you going to Rodren?-" Hedda's words cut off as the aforementioned 'tough looking guy' approached them. Another addendum, 'super tough looking and large'. Well. Larger than him anyways. He'd be a good bear!
"Hullo!" He greeted with a bite sized piece of meat in his mouth. "Not my story to tell, but I can say that our miss here was almost as fortunate as her rival." He scrubbed at his face quickly and held out his free hand to the new face. "I'm Hedda. What about you two? Or three?" Hedda peaked over the man's shoulder to spot the girl he was previously with. "Also waiting around for the ferry?"

Sishu chuckled and took the chicken skewer that the man offered her "Yeah, cheating or not, it was still fun either way so it doesn't really matter." She said, shrugging as she took a bite out of the skewer "Maybe I should ask him how he did it, if I ever see him again."

At that point, they were approached by another man, who asked about her game. She laughed a bit in response to his question "Nah, if there was any real money involved, I'd have played way more seriously than that. This was just for fun while we waited for the ferry." She told him, while the first man introduced himself as Hedda and asked if they were waiting for the ferry. Sishu nodded in response to his question "Yep. My name's Sishu, and I came for probably the same reason as everyone else here did. Speaking of which, do either of you guys know what Rodren University's gonna be like? What classes they have, what kind of teachers are there, that kind of stuff?"

Zenima smiled as the two introduced themselves as Sishu and Hedda. “Well Sishu, Hedda, my name is Zenima” he began. “People call me Zen for short especially because of this,” Zenima tapped his shield with his right fist. “ I, like yourselves, am waiting for the ferry and speaking of which it seems to be a bit late which is unusual. On another note, I imagine you would have been a bit more serious had there been actual money on the line.” Zenima winked, “what I’ve learned is that everyone has a tell and you have to exploit it if you want to win at cards with money on the line.” His eyebrows raised as Sishu mentioned the classes and what they might have. "I heard that Headmaster Ophidian is going to be teaching a class or two. Personally, I thoughht he'd have his hands full with running the university, but I guess not" Zenima shrugged.

The elf seemed like a nice woman, it was unfortunate that Kamaria had no intrest in participating in this interaction. Kamaria's eyes gave nothing away as she judgingly watch the woman explain the medical properties of the grasses she was collecting. Hunger disrupted her gathering and once again, Estella was left with no regard. Before the women could finish her statement, Kamaria walked passed the outstretched hands into the direction of a stand offering apples in exchange for coin or goods. Kamaria wasn't a mean person, had any stranger came up to her with a request she would do so even if risking her ride. This behavior didn't transfer over when it came time to receiving gifts, not that she would willing take strange liquids from a stranger to begin with.

"Nice to meet you Sishu and Zenima!"
Hedda hummed thoughtfully. "I don't really know much about the inside of the school, just what they have on the course registrars and the people who come out of it..." And well. He was supposed to know one. He thinks. Hedda shook off the thought and kept up the pleasantry with a smile, "Glad to hear that administration may be hands on though! Shows that they care a little. Was worried that a place this big wouldn't do that, you know?"

Hedda looked off into the distance again, squinting for a sign of the ferry. Still finding nothing but still waters, he sat himself on a nearby crate. "Maybe they're taking their time with a fancy entrance ceremony? There might be a lot more of us around."
