Fantasy Hunter's Moon: The Sin & Sentence [IC] [CLOSED]

With his attackers temproarily disabled, Venextos looked to Hudson as he was taking a beating and quickly turned his attention to the man. The sorcerer quickly formed an orange beam that would flow to Hudson and hopefully heal him.

Hudson wheezed as the jab hit below the belt, forced onto one knee as he grunted and was brought lower by more attacks from the demons. Shuffling to his feet he rose up and swiftly jabbed the offending demon with his pommel, transitioning the recoil from his strike into an upward slash that aimed to behead the creature. "Fuck OFF!"

Jakob's shotgun blast struck true, turning the demon's head into a red mist as the buckshot shredded it. The body of the demon tumbled to a stop, dropping and rolling across the ground. Still, he had another demon to worry about. The spear demon rushed in to try and stab him once more, but Jakob narrowly dodged it. Meanwhile, Venextos took moment he had left before his opponents regained their senses to heal Hudson. The orange beam of magic was deployed, hitting Hudson a moment later. He suddenly felt more energized, and some of his wounds began to heal slowly.

As he was healed, Hudson struck the demon with the morning star with an upward slash, attempting to behead the creature with his bastard sword. And he struck true, the blade sinking into the creature's neck and slicing through cleanly. Its head tumbled off as its body collapsed lifelessly to the dirt beneath. Now he just had the other two demons to worry about, whom set upon him once more. Hitting multiple times with their melee weapons.

Riberta waited for the moment to strike, as the demons moved closer to her. Their weapons at the ready. And soon, they would make their moves, both rushing in on either side of her. As the first went to strike her with his mace, she quickly grabbed his swinging arm and gave it a sharp twist and a jerk. He stumbled forwards, directly into a vicious headbutt. The impact of her blow shattered the single horn jutting off his forehead, and also managed to knock a few of his sharp teeth out. She continued afterwards, sinking her bared fangs into his throat at the front. There was a sickening crack, and she sharply jerked her head away from him a moment later. She had ripped most of his throat out with her teeth. As he collapsed, grasping at his throat as his blood spurted forth, the other demon moved in and sliced her across her back with his sword.

Hudson breathed in as he began to feel more invigorated, unable to nod to Venextos even if they were on good terms due to how the other demons were still upon him. It mattered little to the hunter, as he parried and blocked what he could to mitigate as much harm to himself that he could. Gritting his teeth from the impacts as well as his body's efforts to restitch itself together he performed an underhanded swing upwards to the next demon's side.

With Hudson taken care of for the time being, Venextos turned his attention to the two demons that had been attacking him. They were now finished dealing with their disorientation and were poised to start attacking again soon, and so Venextos clasped his hands together before spreading them apart to create a purple spear from his hands with which he would throw at one of the demons near him.

Jakob avoided yet another attack from his demonic foe, and looked towards the remaining demons as the group was slowly eliminating the rest of them. It seemed that the group had only taken minimum damage as well. "Heh! Hey, lads. I know you're all about anger and fighting, but I think it might be best for you to surrender now!" He knew they wouldn't. Wrath demons are an angry bunch after all. So, he pumped his shotgun once more, and fired at the demon he had avoided.

Jakob's shotgun sounded off, and buckshot erupted from the muzzle of the weapon. A moment later, it punched through the spear demon's chest, snapping his spear in half as he held it before him. This time the buckshot simply bounced off the armored plating on his back, causing further internal damage. As the demon collapsed, Jakob pumped his weapon once more, and turned to the others whom were still fighting their own enemies. Venextos let his spear fly, and it pierced the demon he was aiming for through its chest. It grabbed at the purple spear, but found it to be a simple magical manifestation. Its hands fazed through it, and soon the demon fell over. Dead. His ally, however, chose to attack. It rushed Venextos, and smacked him across his chest with his club.

Meanwhile, Hudson was still fighting off the pair of demons that were still tormenting him. His underhanded upwards swing sliced a gash through the demon's chest, and carved a hole in its throat before finally exiting. As the demon gagged and fell over, the other demon delivered a vicious strike to the back of Hudson's head with his weapon, forcing Hudson to stumble forward a bit. Nearby, Riberta was taking on the final demon that had been harassing her. He moved in with his sword, attempting to slice her once more, but found that Riberta was waiting for him. She simply slipped out of the way, moving behind the demon, before reaching up and grabbing him by his wide horns. And with a sharp twist, there were several audible cracks as Riberta snapped his neck. As he fell to the ground, his head had been twisted around to face the other direction. Face in the dirt while his chest faced up towards the sky.

Nearby, more auras began to appear. Most were like these wrath demons they were fighting, but one among them was far more powerful. And both Riberta and Jakob could smell something burning. Flesh. A disgusting smell, and it was coming ever closer.

Another one down, and two more left. Or so he thought. Jakob could feel the approaching auras of more demons, and among them was a larger and more powerful demon. "Hey, Hudson! We got more coming on over the hill." Jakob aimed his weapon, and took a shot at the nearest remaining demon. "We might have to fight a stronger one! Are you ready?" He then glanced to Riberta, whom was now covered in demon blood. "...I think she's ready!"

Jakob's announcement of more enemies approaching got Venextos to scoff as he prepared another attack for the remaining demon that had been attacking him. "Let's get rid of these fodder first before focusing on the larger one." the wizard suggested and he shot green electricity at the enemy from one of his hands.

Hudson grunted as he was struck in the back of the head, quickly twisting his footing about to stab at the demon who hit him as he shouted angrily into the follow-through. In the distance he could hear Jakob's warning, and he responded without taking his eyes off of his opponent. "Yeah - just fucking peachy..!" the hunter shouted back, trading blows with the remaining demon as he went in for the kill. "Another minute and I'll be ready to kill it too!"

Jakob's buckshot ripped through one of the remaining demons, while Venextos' magical green electricity fried the other that Hudson was swinging at. They had successfully dispatched this group, but yet another was incoming. Riberta glanced in the direction of the incoming auras, before looking to her allies. "Let's get out of this street. We can head over near that big tree." she said, as she moved back over to the demon she had stabbed with her sword. She yanked it out with a forceful jerk, before moving down the street towards the town square where the large barren oak tree stood. The others followed quickly behind, Jakob reloading as he moved while Venextos and Hudson kept an eye out for more enemies.

They soon arrived, standing in the square and looking about for the other demons that were coming. And soon they saw them. More wrath demons, with better armor and weapons. Some seemed to be holding firearms with long bayonet-like devices mounted to the front. Others were using what appeared to be better made melee weapons than the ones they killed in the street. All looked just as pissed off as before, though. One demon, however, got the attention of Riberta, Jakob, and Venextos.

Moving quickly towards the ground of the demonic group was something that appeared to be quite literally on fire. They first assumed it was another fire elemental like they had fought back at the church, but when they saw its actual appearance, it was a bit different. The demon was a walking inferno, its bare flesh ablaze and roasting. Its face had melted into a horrific expression, revealing razor sharp teeth and piercing orbs where the eyes once were. As it moved in, its pace started to pick up.

And soon enough, it was sprinting towards them. Very quickly.

Flame Martyr (Demon Mage - Fire Elemental Type 2, Boss, 50 HP)
Trait: Fire Mastery - Does +3 DMG when using fire magic.
Trait 2: Inferno - Any fire attacks that hit foes automatically light them on fire for three turns.

The arrival of this heavily armed entourage was cause for concern, especially after its leader of a flamestorm noticed the group and charged straight at them. "Merde, get ready." Venextos muttered as he prepared for some crowd control. With numbers not being in their favor, he would need to try to mitigate their effectiveness for as long as possible. And so, Venextos prepared a trap for the ground beneath their attackers to hinder them as the sorcerer placed his hands on the ground and focused his efforts there.

Hudson took up position at the base of the large tree they were using to survey the battlefield, immediately noticing that a flaming demon was leading the charge. Thinking quickly, he knew it would be better to attack the other demons first. The hunter sheathed his sword and rapidly unfurled two chained maces from his belt, spinning them quite quickly before he whipped both of them out into the demonic horde as soon as they were close enough.

"Holy shit, that's a burning fella!" said Jakob, as the ominous fire demon approached them. His little entourage in tow. "Looks like we'll be here for a bit. Lets take these fools down, and then look for an opportunity to haul ass out of here. See if we can mask our auras from them." Once the demons came closer, Jakob fired upon the demonic grunts approaching behind the fire demon.

As the demonic group charged them, Venextos acted quickly. Channeling up a spell, he launched it at the ground before the group of wrath demons and forced the rocky soil to collapse beneath them as they moved over it. All of them fell inward, but somehow remained upright as they hit the bottom a few feet down. They'd find a way out of the hole quickly enough, just as they were set upon by Jakob and Hudson. Jakob's shotgun sounded off, and the buckshot that launched from its muzzle shredded one of the wrath demons. Knocking its corpse back in the hole. Hudson's maces connected, shattering bone in the demon's chest as it was launched back into the hole it had crawled out of.

Riberta, meanwhile, opted to distract the flaming demon rushing towards them. "HEY, YOU WALKING, FLAMING PILE OF WILD DOG SHIT! COME AND GET ME." she spat, barking the insult in the flaming demon's direction. His attention quickly turned to her, and he began to move in. "That's right, motherfucker. I'm right here. Take your best shot!" she said, a grin forming on her face as she slipped her sword onto her back.

And soon, the demon would launch his attack in the form of hurling a ball of fire at her. It was as if it had pitched a baseball at her, really, the ball of intense flames darting through the air between them and hitting Riberta in the face. The fireball exploded, coating most of her torso in fire. She let out a yelp, clutching at her face, but moments later let out a cackle of laughter. Looking back to the demon, half her face had been scorched. Skin and tissue burned quite badly, cheek and jaw bone exposed to open air, and her left eye was practically melted in its socket. But she laughed it off. "I'm going to enjoy beating you to death." she spat, her voice a bit rougher than before as it seemed her tongue had been scorched as well. "NOW HIT ME AGAIN."

The hunter grappled his maces right back near him with tight arcs that quickly transformed into centripetal momentum. Hands at his sides keeping the spinning going he swung them at the demons that were trying to rise out of the pit they were cast into. Riberta screaming and being on fire may have been cause for alarm, but Hudson found it easy to ignore.

With his spell having been a success, Venextos turned to start to go on the offensive but was shocked to see Riberta take such horrifying damage directly. Yet, she seemed to almost be shrugging it off if not even enjoying it. The wizard kept his thoughts to himself as he sent an orange disk flying at one of the demons nearby.

The trio of Hudson, Venextos, and Jakob kept up their onslaught as they tried to put down the wrath demons as quickly as possible. Hudson's maces collided with a wrath demon's skull on both sides, bursting it like a balloon. It slumped back into the hole, forcing one of its comrades to stumble a bit. Which forced Venextos' orange disc to miss its head entirely. Jakob would have better luck, erasing the demon whom he was aiming at with several slam fire shots from his shotgun.

Meanwhile, Riberta continued to berate the flame demon. Keeping its attention off her allies, and centered squarely on her. "What's it like being a walking bonfire? Can you even fucking sleep? Your eyelids look like they melted off along with the rest of your skin." she said, adding in a chuckle at the end of her statement. "I bet you were ugly before you decided to fuck the business end of a flammenwerfer. Shit, I bet that's why you lit yourself on fire!"

The demon let out a screech, before amassing a larger fireball. He soon hurled it, hitting Riberta square in the chest with it. She yelled out in pain, as the fireball burst and coated her torso in fire. Her exposed flesh began to cook and fall away, dripping onto the ground. Leaving scorched muscle tissue and bone exposed. Her ribs were even visible at the right angle. She coughed a few times, swatting at the fire coating her upper body, before laughing yet again. "T-That's strike two!" she said, grinning once more. It was forced, obviously. She was clearly in intense pain. Most of the damage she had suffered would have killed mortal men and women, but she was still fighting through it.

"ARE YOU GOING TO FUCKING KILL ME OR WHAT?!" she soon barked at the demon, before grinning wildly. "Hit. Me. AGAIN."

With the demon horde thinning and their targets becoming more clear, Hudson used the recovery of his maces to bring the chains about his waist again. Now empty-handed he quickly drew his blade from its sheathe, grasping it with both hands as he began to charge toward the remaining demons. His bastard sword angled upward, his goal to spear one of the wrathful monsters through their chest with an upward stab. "Come on, then!" Hudson roared as he closed the distance.

Annoyed with missing his target, Venextos opted to send an orange strand of energy to crush one of the remaining demons' necks where they stood. Once the rabble was dealt with, Venextos could then focus on either healing whomever needed it and dealing with the flame demon currently pummeling into Riberta.

The two demons remaining were executed rather promptly, as Hudson and Venextos jumped into action. Hudson's sword pierced the demon's chest plate, driving all the way through and out the creature's back. He then placed his boot square in its stomach, shoving it back off his sword and into the hole it had crawled out of. Venextos' orange strand of magic met its target, and quickly squeezed tightly around its neck. There were several cracks, before its neck snapped and its head slumped over. He let the lifeless corpse drop where it stood. And soon they heard a loud shotgun blast behind them. Jakob had turned his attention towards the flaming demon, hitting it across its back with multiple pellets of buckshot.

It didn't seem interested in Jakob, though, still focusing its attack on Riberta. It slung one more fireball, and Riberta brought her arms up to protect her face from the blast. The flaming sphere hit her forearms, scorching them and burning the skin away. Muscle was exposed, charred almost black from the flames. "STRIKE THREE." she sounded off, a wild grin stretching across her face. Her fangs bared, claw-like fingernails out, and a wild look in her remaining eye, she began to move quickly towards the demon. "MY TURN."

With the rabble now dealt with, it was time for Venextos to turn his attention to his teammates. Riberta seemed to be practically unfazed by the amount of damage she had taken, which surprised the wizard and brought his attention to Jakob. He had taken some damage recently and was in need of healing, and so the wizard sent out a healing spell towards the man as quickly as he could.

The hunter grunted as he kicked the demon off of his blade, looking to the demon aflame as he glanced down to his sword before he dropped it back into its sheath. It would be unwise to engage the flaming demon with his bastard sword, as an errant swipe from the monster could catch him on fire. Hudson grit his teeth as he pulled on two chain leads for his maces, spinning them about with wild arcs before he swung them overhead. Downward momentum carried the weaponry down, aiming to crush the flame martyr's head with those holy instruments of death.

Three of the group converged on the flaming demon, determined to put it down for good, while Venextos cast a spell to help boost Jakob's vitality. Jakob let loose another volley of shotgun blasts, slam firing three shots into the demon as Hudson moved in to swing his mace up into the air above the demon. Determined to bring it down squarely on the demon's head. As Jakob's buckshot connected, it made the demon move a bit, resulting in the mace slamming down hard onto the demon's right shoulder. Breaking it with a loud and satisfying crack. The demon let out a scream of anguish, but it wouldn't last very long.

Riberta moved in, and as the demon let out its cry, she shoved her hands into the creature's burning maw. One hand clasped its jaw, the other pressed against the upper portion of the demon's mouth. And then she began to force them appart, shoving the creature downwards as she did. The look on her face said it all; she was enjoying it, even if she was being horribly burned in the process. Her eye was glowing a piercing red, her fangs exposed in her wild grin.

"You should have killed me. I even wanted you to." she said, staring down at the demon as audible cracks and pain filled moans could be heard sounding from the creature. Its knees buckled and broke, forcing his legs to give way under the sheer pressure Riberta was forcing down onto it. "But you failed, just like all the others." She continued to force downward, pulling the creature's mouth wide open. Until it also eventually gave way. Its jaw came off, taking most of its throat with it. She released it, letting it flop over onto the ground, before stepping over and delivering one final curbstomp. Crushing its head like a melon.

She then straightened up, and looked at the others. Her hands were burned to the point where they were charred black, muscle and bone exposed with no skin to speak of. Somehow, they still moved. The burns and damage across her body and her face was extensive, as the flames smoldered out. The look in her remaining eye hadn't changed, but the grin had faded from her face. "Its done." she said simply.

Hudson reeled back his chains and maces to his person, bundling them up as he prepared another throw to take down the demon. Yet he soon saw Riberta working to separate its jaw from its head, and released his fingers to undo the bundled loops of chain so that he could begin wrapping the maces and chains around his body. "Right then." he muttered, beginning to survey the area while walking past the mad warlord and her corpses. "Now to find the demon's valued contact. Venextos? Have a bead on where they might be?"
