A Funeral of Flowers (Thunder) || Santiago’s CS File

He would laugh at Bishal’s poor attempt at balance if it wasn’t necessary for their survival. He took hold of Bishal’s legs as he forced himself up. Luckily while he wasn’t exactly an expert as Chicken he’d never been a wimp. Someone Bishal’s size was all too easy for him. If he could keep still. As he rose he kept a tight grip on the boy trying to help him stay balanced.

Putting the batteries in the smoke detector wouldn’t help much with stopping the fire but it’d give them some wiggle room as they would have completed whatever this punk had wanted from them. He could only hope that these batteries were charged enough to work. Let alone all the other problems that could arise if their captor just wanted to see them struggle. No he was going into dark thoughts.

“Bishal please tell me you can reach it…”

[ Bishal Jha ]

During New Buddy’s precarious action of standing upright, Bishal flapped his arms for dear life as he tried not to topple them both over. Fortunately, luck was on their side and he managed not to fall or drop the batteries, a feat that he would later remember with fondness.

In reply to his partner’s plea, he tilted his head up to view the smoke detector. “I can reach it.” The plastic disk was in elbow range and with a moment to open the battery compartment, the batteries would be in the detector and the sprinklers should — in theory — be out and doing their job.

Making to put the batteries in, Bishal felt a bubbling expectation. The two of them were soon going to leave this place and — wait. An idle thought popped into his head. The robotic voice never stated that they could escape after the fire was put out, and the door itself was reinforced with metal bolts. Where were they leaving from? Could they even leave? He paled.

Glancing down at the person supporting him with a sinking heart, he asked, “Hey, do you remember if the voice said we could leave after the fire was gone?”

Once the batteries were in the fire alarm started rapidly beeping and the sprinklers on the ceiling around the room and, more importantly, in the closet started dousing the area with cold water. After a few moments, when the smoke that was starting to build up near the ground dissipated, the beeping and the showering of water stopped.

"Congratulations, subjects 3 and 4! You have successfully completed your first task. You will now be returned to your rooms. Thank you for your cooperation."

Not long after, the same sprinklers that produced lifesaving water moments ago now released a thick green fog from their spouts. The room quickly filled up with it, and though it was nontoxic, the sedative properties would cause Bishal and Santiago to lose consciousness soon after inhaling it.

Saturday, November 1st, 20XX

When the two would regain consciousness, they would find themselves in their dorm rooms on their beds the next morning. Nothing in their rooms would be out of place except there would be a small newspaper clipping about the new virus found recently in South America called KD11, and how the whole population of a town of one thousand were all infected in three days after an infected visitor arrived.

When her partner spoke, Yule turned toward her in one quick movement. "Wait, what, what?" She asked, watching her counterpart aimed the black light on the table. "What did you find?" Yule trotted over to the other girl who read a clear code. "Yup those are numbers," she couldn't help but stutter out. Her eyes went wide as she surveyed them too. "Wait a minute, 0319... There's a dial code on that safe!" She cheered. Again she had to take a deep breath and remind herself this was serious.

Yule stopped, put a hand on her heart, and became quieter, "Can you go check please?" Even though she was forgetful, the thought of dying scared her subconscious, she had to stop for a moment to clam her heart. By this point it was difficult to stay on her feet without shaking, so she crouched. She didn't want to sit in that chair again. But even though it was hard for her to walk she could think perfectly, and she used that ability the best she could to be useful.

She thought about finding a key to get the drawer unlocked, but they looked everywhere. "The scalpel maybe—" The cloud of thoughts vanished for a moment. Her eyes glossed over something out of place on the white floor, she looked again. It was the scissor she had used. The locked drawer came to mind.

Yule hurried over and picked up the scissors, gazing from the item to the locked drawer. "I've picked locks before but never with scissors." Regardless she walked back to the drawer and sat on her knees. "It's worth a shot... Right about now," she trailed off as she ripped the scissors in two. Fingers crossed that, that wasn't the wrong move. Yule placed the edges of the scissors into the top and bottom of the keyhole and got to work.

Claireese Stonewright

Claireese.jpgClaireese chuckled at the excitement of the other girl that seemed to rise on her face, “Go ahead and cheer! I think we’re getting closer.” She threw her hands up and cheered as she approached the safe. “Woo!

Crouching in front of the safe, she eyed it carefully. Looking over at the table, she tapped her chin three times, debating if she should have grabbed the black light and brought it over.

Eh, if she can’t get the code to work on the safe, her fallback was the light again. Cause who knows, there might be more!

She noted that her partner was messing with the drawer, “Oo~ A lockpick, eh? Remind me not to show you where my room is.” She snickered.

Now that she was starting to be in a better mood, Claireese started humming to herself. If the tail she was wearing was real, it would wag.

Zero~... ThreeeeeeOne~ NINE!” Claireese almost held her breath after plugging in the code of the safe and tugging on it, hoping it clicked open.

Taigakitt Taigakitt Kana.M. Kana.M.

Sadly, the blades of the scissors were too wide to be inserted into the keyhole.

Once the code was entered into the dial, the safe's handle was easily able to be turned and allowed for the door to swing open. Inside was a back scratcher as well as a newspaper clipping. The clipping had an article on it about a man in South Africa who scratched himself to death after being infected by the virus rapidly spreading across South America, KD11. There was also a statement from the doctor that treated him saying it was unknown where the scratching was caused by irritation of the skin or an altered state of mind caused by the virus.

    ~ Campus Dorms ~
    Starboy || Santiago’s CS File

Thick fog, colored like the damn fakeass dorm lawns. He couldn’t react past it as his body hit the floor. As the block on his consciousness lifted he forced himself up gasping as he reached out. His eyes flew around him as he found himself recognizing the familiar surroundings. He evened out his breathing with a good deal of effort. He put a hand to his chest feeling as his panic subsided.

He was lucky, if he’d been sober and kidnapped when gassed up… Well he wouldn’t have been nearly as creative. Wasting time panicking probably wouldn’t have helped. He wanted to believe it was nothing more than a thing of nightmares. He forced himself up with a stumble.

He was wearing his halloween costume still and he was also sore as a bitch. He didn’t usually get blackout drunk so he could damn well blame that but usually when that happened Nuno left him with some cute taunts like the damn line of shot glasses. The fucking prick. Yet instead today his desk was clear aside from a glass of water and a bottle of ibuprofen. He couldn’t tell if it was actual concern or if he’d gone and got himself drugged up.

God. He hoped drunk him wasn’t dumb enough to get drugged up but he had no excuse otherwise why he was laying around with only the memory of some tripped up BDSM softcore version of Saw. He was a dick yeah but he’d never like harmed anyone. He downed four pills with the water and glanced back to the bed across the room.

Nuno was out. He heard the door open. Oh there he was. Santiago dragged out the chair from his desk and collapsed in it with zero grace.

“So you’re up huh? Disappear for a whole night and then just come back at the dead of morning still in that menace of an outfit? You smell, go take a shower you prick. You don’t even look like you had a good time for all the trouble you caused me with Sienna looking for you.”

“Fine, geez you make a fuss out of everything.”

He wanted to just lay back in bed but more than that he wanted to be out of this damn getup. He tossed the apron off before yanking the dress over his head. He heard Nuno start grumbling about ‘in the bathroom you heathen’ but couldn’t be bothered as he dragged out a plain set of clothes from his drawers and forced himself to shower. As the water trailed over him he found himself examining himself for a number on his body. Subjects three and four huh. He wasn’t sure if he believed it. Certainly didn’t want to.

Well there was only one way to figure out if he was being fucked with and had a super bad trip or if the bitch was real. That was finding whitey. Bish? Biff? What was it he called himself? He towelled down and changed slipping back into the dorm room. Luckily Nuno hadn’t left yet, then again the dude rarely went anywhere but the gym on saturdays.

“Heyo. Nuno. Do you know a white haired student? Green eyes, black undercut, classic Himbo? Calls himself Bitch alot?”

Nuno stared at him in the way that he knew his cousin was thinking if he wanted to hit the gym or hit him. He waved it off before going to collapse on his bed. He saw a clipping on his nightstand out of the corner of his eye. He raised himself to read it the news article.

“Since when do you get the paper you nerd?”

“The fuck are you talking about you brought it back. I found you out cold not even tucked in like the lush you are and you were clasping that.”

Virus? Infected? One thousand? He felt himself pale. He had no idea what was in the gas they sprayed at him. What if they weren't trying to kill the two but release a bioterrorist chemical? He needed to cover up. He wasn’t going anywhere without a mask and he needed to go find whitey and make sure he did the same. He grabbed one of Nuno’s cosplay masks with some weirdass zippered teeth print.

    “Hey what are you-”

    “No time see ya later”

He ran out of the dorm hearing Nuno’s shouts of annoyance before he was off to the other dorms. He didn’t have a key or code but he knew damn well he’d never seen whitey in the east side dorms which left three other dorms to check. He was a charmer he could get in. The only problem would be if the kid wasn’t another student at the academy, he didn’t know how far the reach of the abductors went.

    “Heyyy WHITEY WHERE YOU AT?”

[ Bishal Jha ]

“We are leaving!“ Bishal brightened up at hearing the monotone voice’s dubious exclamation, but his expression twisted into horror once roiling, smokey green started drifting towards him from the ceiling sprinklers. “What — “ Before he could finish his sentence, he conked out.

Groaning and rolling to the side, he tried to smooth out the giant wrinkle in his bed sheets that was digging into his back. Instead, he touched a smooth surface that was as even and wrinkle-free as when he first bought it. Patting his sleeping whereabouts and blearily blinking his eyes open, he felt mildly confused. There was still something digging into his back. Catching a hint of obnoxious yellow from the corner of his eye, he looked down and felt enlightened. His body still sported his cheaply put together Pac-Man costume. Rolling off the bed, he ripped it from his body and tossed towards the corner of the room, letting out a huff. Served it right, after all the good it did when the place was burning down. Burning down?

He reeled back from the bed he stood beside as memories of yesterday flooded his mind. Letting out a long, quiet wail, he clutched at his head with his hands, aggravated. Bishal wanted to believe it was a dream, but the events of last night were a bit too clear in his mind and weren’t at all fantastical enough. He shook his head, determined to forget it all with his pitiful recollection abilities.

Wandering over to the crumpled pile of yellow felt, he scrunched the costume up and shoved into his tiny trash bin. Dusting his hands off, he noticed a fluttering newspaper clipping that had dropped out of the suit. Warily curious, he grabbed a nearby pen from his desk and poked it. It definitely wasn’t there before, but it didn’t seem harmful… maybe. Just in case, he picked it up with a tissue.

Reading the information on the clipping, he furrowed his brows. What did it mean? Was the virus or the visitor or the town related to him and New Buddy? Was he overthinking it? Was it even real? Bishal set it down on the desk and plopped into his seat, tired of wondering about what was going on.

He wanted to talk to Yvo about the craziness of yesterday and New Buddy, but his roommate’s side of the room was empty, and it didn’t seem like he had come back at night, likely having stayed the night at Bjorne Hall. At least he wouldn’t have gotten a shock from someone random carrying him to the dorms dead asleep, Bishal thought, trying to look at the bright side of things.

It was then that he heard a muffled shout of “whitey where you at?” from outside the window in a very, very familiar voice. Scrambling to the cracked open window, he twisted the handle and whipped it open so wide that it hit brick. Too delighted to even wince at the sound of metal on brick, he cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, “Here!

Claireese Stonewright

Claireese.jpgUpon the safe opening, Claireese eyed the insides warily, unsure if there was going to be some trick. She stared at the edges of the entryway and looked for anything that looked like it could be sharp that might chop at her hand for attempting to take the insides. She hummed in a low monotone as she looked it over.

Once determining she wouldn’t lose a cup-holding hand, she reached in with both, her left grabbing the backscratcher, immediately going to scratch her back with it, and the newspaper clipping in her right.

Her eyes skimmed it over, her brows creasing together in thought.

Whatthefuckisthisbullshit!?

She immediately threw the backscratcher after reading the story snippet, frightened by its very existence. She stood up and threw her t-shirt off, leaving herself only in her bra. She span around, trying to get a look at her back.

DOES MY BACK HAVE ANY STRANGE SCRATCHES?!” She screeched. How dumb of her. She was so concerned about the safe, she didn’t consider the backscratcher!

save image as.pngRei examined the toilet, fiddling with the handle before she noticed the duct tape. "Is that tape?" She whispered to herself raising an eyebrow, she looked around the toilet lid seeing if there was any part she could peel the tape off from, though the bad lighting didn't help. "Damn it..." though after a moment of struggling, she was finally able to peel off the tape. "Finally..." She huffed, taking the lid off before placing it on the ground.

Rei then stood back up and looked inside the compartment, adjusting her glasses and squinting to see if there was anything inside. "I can't see a thing..." She muttered to herself more than oakner, feeling slightly annoyed. At the very least whoever put them in here couldn't have put a proper working light? Rei shuddered, feeling a bit nauseous about the fact she might have to put her hand in and feel around.

Oakner Reyes

Despite Oakner's insistence, it seemed that Rei was adamant about avoiding the toilet. Not that he could blame her. If this was a prank as he assumed, they would leave a disgusting "present" for them to sift through in order to find anything useful. Instead of complaining he just sat and waited as the girl checked on the bunk bed, looking up to where she was when she commented on the pillow.

"Really? Well, I hope there's something we can use to cut it open or something. I'm definitely not strong enough to rip it apart with my bare hands. I don't suppose you have some ridiculously sharp nails?"

Finally, when it seemed she was out of any other option, Rei moved over to the toilet. Thankfully, she didn't have to go rooting around in the bowl, and instead opened up the lid of the tank which apparently had been sealed with duct tape. "I'm sure it's safer to just feel around in there than in the bowl," he said in response to her comment about the bad lighting. As he waited for her next move he couldn't help but wonder how much time had passed. It didn't feel like all that long, but perhaps his perception of time had shifted due to being in a dire situation.

As Rei fiddled with the handle, it seemed to get corrected and was ready to flush. The softest sound of a "thunk" bubbled. Once opened and Rei looked into the back of the toilet, there was water available that could feed the toilet. Sitting at the bottom of the toilet tank, in the water, was a black case, almost like a pencil case. It seemed that case was probably the culprit of the flushing mechanism being stuck.

save image as.pngRei frowned looking into the bowl to see something that looked like a pencil case inside, though it was a bit relieving that she wasn't searching around the toilet for nothing. "At least theirs nothing in the bowl..." She muttered, rolling up her sleeves before reaching into the bowl, quickly grabbing the item before pulling it out and shaking her hands off. "Ewww..." She whined before taking a deep breath, opening the box to see what could be inside. Hopefully their was something to open the pillowcase with...

Inside was a rolled up note, with the words scrawled hastily in red crayon, some water damage having occurred on the edges as the water had slowly been seeping into the case:
My blasted roommate! Always scratching beneath me when I'm trying to sleep! Just who does he think he is?! I'll take care of him tomorrow.

Once the note had been unfurled and read, a key would have either dropped to the floor or caught by Rei if she was ready for it.

save image as.pngRei finally opened the box, laying eyes on a rolled up peice of paper. "What's this?..." She asked herself, examining it before she took it out, tucking the black box underneath her arm. She quickly unfolded the paper, and was surprised to see a key fall out though she wasn't able to register what she was looking at before it fell to the floor. "Oh, a key..." She breathed, eyeing it for a few more moments before she remembered Oakner's situation. "Oh wait! See if you can use this!" She huffed, bending down to grab the key before gently tossing it over to him.

Her thoughts went back to the piece of paper, observing it to see there was a note written on it. "Hey, theirs something written here..." The girl looked unimpressed, seeing the note was written in red crayon. Whoever put them here couldn't grab a pen? She shrugged it off, thinking maybe it was so the water wouldn't make the ink bleed, but it didn't matter. Squinting her eyes she began pacing back and forth under the light as she did her best to read it out loud for Oakner to hear.

"My blasted roommate! Always scratching beneath me when I'm trying to sleep! Just who does he think he is?! I'll take care of him tomorrow."

"That's weird?... It's gotta mean something though..." She turned the note around to see if there was anything on the back before looking around the room and laying eyes on the bunk bed. "Well it says scratching beneath him while he's trying to sleep so maybe..." Rei spoke quietly as she walked over to the bed, sitting on the matress of the first bunk. "Did anything unlock?..." She spoke to her cellmate before looking up at the bottom of the top bunk, figuring that maybe their was something their.

Oakner Reyes

After Rei had been examining the toilet past the point of time a normal person would, Oakner called out to her. "Hey. Did you find anything?" He heard the sound of something small and metallic drop to the ground, to which his eyes widened. Rei's soft words confirmed what he had hoped it was, and as if they were completely in sync she threw it over to him. He quickly caught it and started undoing the cuff around his arm.

"Yes!" he exclaimed once he was free from the shackle and stood up, standing on the tips of his toes as he stretched with his arms in the air. His eyes then gazed over to the metal bars, and he remembered they had yet to get out. He gazed down at the cuff around his ankle, as well as over to the one of Rei's, and wondered how long it had taken for them to get him free.

"Yeah? What does it say?" Oakner asked when Rei mentioned the note. He listened and watched the girl pace the length of the cell as she read it out loud, and then furrowed his brow. "'Scratching beneath me...'" he repeated before his eyes went over to the bunk bed. It seemed Rei had been thinking the same thing, as she was already there when his gaze fell upon it. "Heh, you're pretty sharp," he commented, although if they were wrong then that would mean they were both dumber than he thought.

When she asked if anything had unlocked, the boy went over to the bars and grabbed a hold of two, trying to pull them towards him, push them away, as well as slide them to the left or right. "No... they won't budge," he responded.

As Rei turned the note around, there was nothing scrawled on the back. As she sat on the mattress of the bottom bunk, it squeaked in protest. As she looked at the bottom of the top bunk, there would be visible scratch marks, looking like it was done with some type of sharp object.

Upon closer inspection, more words!

Over and over, the same sentence was scratched in:
Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good Pillow Good...

He could feel irritation spike up as the boy leaned out the window without even a mask. Not to mention the idiot just leaned out his window like he’s supposed to know where he is other than a vague idea at the floor. His face settled back into its default glare. He kicked a rock before leaning on the side of the building looking up.

“WELL FAT LOT OF GOOD THAT DOES ME. GET A MASK ON AND GET YOUR ASS DOWNSTAIRS.”

He brought out his phone and figured that while Bishal was taking his sweet ass time he’d pass the time searching for any news he could possibly find on this strange virus. News article by news article. Maybe if he was lucky he could find an inkling of just what their captives wanted from them.

He didn't really have any proof that they'd run into them again but it was something that he had to worry about. Plus with his rep as a party boy not a single adult would believe him if he came to the school with his concerns. Hell he'd be lucky if Nuno believed him let alone anyone else.

[ Bishal Jha ]

Interactions: BriiAngelic BriiAngelic

Bishal only widened his eyes at New Buddy’s tone and facial expression, brushing it off with the power of storybook reunions and a separation of three floors. Ignoring the rock that looked particularly pitiful, he tried to imagine that the ending of the chunk mineral was not going to be him in a few minutes.

He tried to find a mask in his recollections, scrunching up his face in exertion. Nothing. Not that it was much of a surprise with a memory capacity like his own. “Can you wait a moment? I don’t remember if I have a mask.”

With that said, he ran back into his room proper and flipped through every inch of it; by the end, it appeared as if an especially nasty pack of scavengers had gone through. Dashing back, he called out, “I don’t have a mask.” Whipping a red bandana out of his pocket, he continued, “but I found a handkerchief in my roommate’s closet!”

Bishal had written down a short note for Yvo, setting it down on his nightstand, so hopefully the other wouldn’t mind the borrowing. Wrapping his face in the patterned cloth, he threw open the door and bounded downstairs, skidding to a stop in the front hall. Leaping out the door and possibly breaking another school record in long jump, he waved his arms foolishly at New Buddy. “Hey!”

save image as.png"Thanks..." Rei smiled at Oakner's comment, unaware of the actual danger the two were in. She glanced over to her cellmate when he tried opening the door to no avail. Sighing, she wondered how long they'd be stuck in there, even if they unlocked the cuffs on their ankles. She tried shaking off her thoughts as the familiar feeling from earlier crept up again. The fear of this all being real made everything feel hazy.

Rei focused on reading the words scratched underneath the bed. "Oh, well this is weird..." Rei squinted, looking up at the words. "It just says "Pillow Good" over and over again..." She sighed, getting up off of the bed while lifting her glasses to rub her eyes, noting that reading in dim light definitely wasn't good for her.

The girl looked over to the pillowcase left on the ground from earlier, that was the only thing she could think of at this point though opening it wouldn't be easy... She walked over to the pillowcase, picking it up before trying to open it up by force, pulling at the sides though she knew it wouldn't work. "Common, theirs gotta be something around here to open this..." She grumbled, looking back at the bunk bed, contemplating whether she should flip over the mattresses or not. "Any Ideas?..." She dropped the pillowcase, looking over to Oakner with a shrug.

Oakner Reyes

"Hmm?" Oakner turned back to her when she mentioned a message. "What do you mean?" He then noticed the girl reading the underside of the top bunk. "Oh! So that's what it meant!" he exclaimed with a smile. Sadly though, the enthusiasm was short-lived as the two words Rei mentioned surely were part of another puzzle. Rei seemed to have the right idea in Oakner's opinion as she went over to the pillow. He watched her try to tear the fabric of its covering but to no avail. He considered offering to try himself, but figured that he wasn't all that much stronger than her and his attempt would also end up fruitless.

When the girl posed her question to him, he thought for a moment. "Hmm..." He looked down at his nails. No, those weren't long enough. He gritted his teeth. That would probably take too long but maybe it was worth remembering. "Was there anything else behind the brick you pulled? Or maybe in the tank?" He went over to the toilet and peered in the bowl just to make sure they hadn't missed anything there, grimacing and hoping he wouldn't have to go fishing in it.

As Rei tugged on the pillow, the tiniest sound of a rip could be heard as the seams weren't stitched the best. When the pillow was dropped the the floor, a loud thunk could be heard and a strange circular light was pressed against the fabric, filtered through, but not shining on the floor.

As Oakner looked into the tank, there was nothing else within eye view.

Yule tried jamming the blades into the keyhole but the edges just wouldn't fit. She groaned and closed her eyes, her head turned into the ceiling.
A whimper escaped from her lips as she squinted at the blades lifting them to survey against the light. "Frick..."

"Well if the scissors aren't for the lock what are they for?" Had she just ruined their last chance at escaping?

"Am I really about to die?"

The other girl spoke, Yule was back to reality. Best to keep on going and figure out the problems later. She turned to see what she was on about, "What do you mean?" Her thoughts paused for a moment when she saw her shirtless, for some reason. That's when it clicked, "Oh I'll check," She walked over to her again and examined her back. "Give me the article."

Yule took the article form her partner's hand, seeing no cuts or scratches on her back. That would be terrible. She also took the actual back scratcher, flipping it over in her hand before looking at the vent again.

"I have an idea, mystery woman," she murmured, approaching the vent once more. She grabbed the flashlight as she passed the table. "You're right we're close!"

She sat the chair sturdily against the wall and hopped onto the seat. Yule pressed the flashlight on and set her fingers into the shaft. She aimed the light and peered into the vent. Shimmying the stick into the hinge, she felt around lightly. Yule hoped that she'd feel something skid towards her or hear a metal clink. She was almost certain the key was in there.
