1593399561330.pngRei looked over the the guy next to her feeling confused. He thought this was a joke? Even if this was, Rei didn't want anything to do with it. She had so much to look forward to tonight and who knows how long they've been sitting here, they could've missed the party far all she knew. Taking a few seconds to understand everything he just said, the girl took a deep breath realizing she wasn't going to die. That being said she still wasn't happy about it. She didn't even get to show off her costume before all of this happened and now she was stuck in this place, forced to play some stupid game.

Not to mention she definitely didn't know this guy or any of his friends since she only knew a couple of people. Her grip tightened around the brick the more she thought about it, her fear was replaced with anger and she was already vowing to give whoever set this up a piece of her mind. Though a small part of her still felt a sense of danger since she couldn't think of anyone who could have put her here and there something wasn't right about the way the woman on the speakers sounded. The feeling got worse after Oakner was shocked by his cuff. She looked at the thing around his ankle, feeling her lip quiver, her eyes started welling up with tears.

The thought of this being real sent shivers up her spine. But if that was the case she had to work fast and if anger and fear were gonna drive her than so be it. "Are you serious..." She muttered glaring at Oakner, tears streamed down her face as she completely ignored his question. Rei huffed turning her head to look away from the boy and up at the ceiling. She wanted to yell at him, but that wouldn't help anything. She thought to herself, trying to get a grasp of the situation. He seemed to be unaware of the whole thing in the beginning so she couldn't blame him for her being here, but why would some strangers lock her up in here with him? He seemed less scared and more chill about the situation but from what she could tell he thought someone he knew put him here. She shook off her thoughts, knowing well that 30 minutes wasn't a lot of time.

Rei looked around the room laying eyes on the space in the wall where the brick once was, seeing something shining as the light flickered on and off of it. The girl examined further, squinting before realizing she was staring at a key, maybe she should've worn her glasses.... She let out a sharp sigh, feeling slightly relieved that she wouldn't have to risk hurting herself with a brick to try and get the handcuffs off. She reached in the wall, grabbing the key before turning to look at the hand cuffs. Putting the key in the key hole, she held her breath hoping it would work and it wasn't for something else.

She looked back at Oakner, glaring at him once again. "If it really was your friends who set this up, I'm going to hurt them..." She grit her teeth, giving an empty threat before looking back down at the cuffs, fiddling with the key. "Just unlock..." She spat, now glaring at the cuffs.

Instead of an answer for his question, the boy just got a glare from the girl, as if he was in on this whole joke. He gave a glare back, unsure of why she would suspect him when he was right in the middle of this alongside her. He watched as she continued to fiddle with the space leftover from the brick she had pulled out, once again calling out to her, giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming she just hadn't heard him.

"I said, 'what'cha got there?!'" he said a little louder this time. Instead of an answer, she turned back to him and gave him another glare, to which he had to hold himself back from rolling his eyes, and then made a threat about his friends. "Yeah, you and me both..." he muttered, about to turn away and start working on his own cuffs, seeing as she wasn't willing to cooperate. He then noticed the key, and watched as she inserted it into the cuffs and tried to unlock it. A small smile came onto his face. "Hey, let me see that after you're done." Hopefully both the handcuffs came as a set.

1583609502743.pngRei sighed, feeling relieved when the handcuffs unlocked. At least that was a good thing. She brought her hand up, examining the mark on her wrist from struggling against the cuffs. "Ow..." She hissed rubbing her wrist to sooth the pain. She raised an eyebrow at the guy next to her, standing up before handing him the key. Their was no point in being mad at him the whole time since it seemed he had no part in her being here. She crossed her arms as she looked around the room. Eyeing the toilet before she quickly realized that was the only thing in the room besides the bed.

She winced thinking she might have to look in the toilet, though she ignored that for the moment, walking over to the bed to examine it. She got on her knees to look under the bed, at this point not caring about her outfit as she wanted to get out of there so soon as possible. "Hey when you get up check the top bunk..." She muttered just loud enough for him to hear. It was pretty dark, considering the lights kept flickering on and off. She searched around with her hand trying to see if she could feel anything.

"Hey..." She raised her voice as she searched since her voice was muffled under the bed. "I didn't mean to look at you like that or ignore you. I just really don't want to be here right now..." She grumbled the last part deciding to lay down straight on the cold floor in order to search better. "I don't feel anything..." She sighed sharply.

Oakner Reyes

Oakner smiled upon seeing that the girl was able to get herself free. At least some progress was being made. When handed the key he took a hold of it and tried to insert it in the keyhole on his own cuffs. After fiddling with it for a minute to no avail, he let out a groan.

"Shit!" he exclaimed, dropping it on the floor next to him. "Looks like the cuffs aren't a matching set..." He let out a sigh. "I guess we'll need another key in order to unlock it." The thought of the girl running off without him flashed through his head, though the panic was only there for a minute, as he realized that she was still trapped in here just like him, at least for the moment. Hopefully they would undo his cuffs before finding a way out of this stupid cell.

"I'd love to, but it seems I'll be stuck here for awhile longer..." Oakner said in response to her request for him to check the top bunk. "It's okay," he responded to her apology, "I don't really wanna be here either." He thought about complimenting her on her costume, but decided that this wasn't the time. Perhaps he could do it after they had escaped.

"Guess there's nothing down there?" he suggested when Rei mentioned not feeling anything under the bed. "Maybe checking the top bunk is a good idea." He scanned the rest of the cell as well. "Or maybe check the toilet...?" He winced at the idea as well, hoping his friends weren't cruel enough to leave them a "surprise" in it.

With a chuckle he pocketed the lipstick again before squatting down by Bishal’s side. The idiot obviously had a harder time being restrained than he said. For now he gave him a quick pat on the head before turning back to his new hunch. He gave the bed a shove moving it away to check if anything had been hidden under it.

“I was saying that if the monsters want to be hidden the best place is where all kids are taught they live, under the bed. Unless you can think of another meaning that lipstick shit could mean. I just figured they tied you down here for a reason.”

He poked his head under the bed frame itself also looking for anything that might have been hidden in the recesses of the bed. He could probably take the hammer to the bed and make something out of it but he wasn’t sure he was going to be able actually break it with how sturdy it was.

Thoughts were racing through his mind left and right but even so he wasn’t getting far and he could tell it showed on his face. With a frustrated roar and a wave of facial changes he sat on the ground.

“Honestly I’m kinda stuck. What the hell is this makeup for? Can’t we just throw the hammer at the sprinklers wouldn’t that work?”

[ Bishal Jha ]

After his new best friend patted him like he was an endearingly dumb pet, Bishal blinked and touched his head like it was an alien object, scrambling off of the hardwood with the energy of someone who was unexpectedly praised for his stupid actions. It made him feel both confused as to why and oddly pleased about himself, and both likely weren’t what the consequence of painfully smacking into the floor was supposed to teach him.

As the other spoke his reasoning about the bed and childhood monsters, Bishal brightened up a touch as hope bloomed in his chest. “That’s a good idea.” He tilted his head and stared curiously at the floor underneath the bed as the large piece of furniture was pushed away. “But no, I can’t really think of anything else for the lipstick message.” Glancing up at the ceiling to briefly examine it, he shook his head. “Nope.”

Bishal winced when his new best buddy roared and his face flip-flopped expressions like a buyer testing novel masks. “Perhaps the makeup is there just to set the room? There does seem to be a certain design to the place. Or we could take them apart and see." He hesitated, not wanting to put down his new best friend's hypothesis but doing so anyway to keep his little life. "The hammer might just break the sprinkler instead.”

To squeeze the most out of their little time left, he moved away after he finished conveying his thoughts to investigate the nightstand. He looked inside and out of the bedside table, on top of the polished surface and below it, hoping for a glimpse of batteries or at least a much more obvious clue. Convoluted, metaphorical hints really weren’t his forte.

Sadly the bed did not budge when attempted to be pushed by Santiago. It wasn't clear whether this was because it was extremely heavy or attached to the floor, but it seemed the only way to see what was under it was to directly look underneath. In another stroke of bad luck though, when the young man peered down below the bed frame, due to the dim lighting of the room, it was impossible to see anything. If only they had some source of light...

Bishal's examination of the nightstand allowed him to find some sort of burner sitting on top of it, similar to the ones which come in sets of four on stove tops and produce blue flames when turned on. The device had two buttons on it in front of the burner, a yellow one and a blue one. Sadly the drawer of the night stand was locked shut, but it was a small note. It read: "A tip for sound sleep: if you find yourself too hot at night to fall asleep, try flipping over your pillow. The underside is guaranteed to be cooler!"

1583609502743.pngRei sighed, finally realizing that their was nothing under the bed. Well, checking under their was no good... She raised an eyebrow, looking over to Oakner as she got from under the bed. He was still messing with they keys before he dropped them on the floor next to him saying they didn't work. "Are you serious..." She groaned, crossing her arms as she looked around the room, snarking as she looked at the toilet again. "There's gotta be another key somewhere..." She muttered to herself, their wasn't a lot in the room, it couldn't be that hard to search on her own for a bit right?

She sighed looking back to Oakner, silently nodding as he suggested she look on the top bunk bed instead. She she ran a hand through her hair as she lift her right foot up, taking her heel off with her free hand doing the same with the other. She placed them down next to the bed before putting her hair up in a ponytail, then stepping up on the bedframe to see if there was any on the top mattress. Her eyebrows furrowed when Oakner mentioned looking in the toilet. The thought of having to possibly stick her hand in there made her stomach turn. She shook the thought off, looking back at the bed squinting since the dim light was barely helping.

"Nothing?" Oakner asked when Rei crawled back out from underneath the bed. "What a pain..." It seemed he would be a sitting duck for awhile longer. He watched as she climbed up onto the bed frame after taking off her shoes to check if there was anything on the top bunk. Like the bottom bunk, the mattress was bare, but a pillow did sit on one end of it.

"Find anything?" Oakner asked after Rei had a moment to check. His eyes drifted over to the toilet once again. "Ugh... I'm sorry to tell you this, but you'll probably have to go check the shitter," he commented with a grimace. "My so-called friends would be gross and immature enough to put something there."

He suspected that the hammer would just wind up breaking the sprinkler but he didn’t like it confirmed. What’s worse is that this bed didn’t move an inch with all his struggle. Annoying. He stood up and cracked his knuckles before the announcement came up. Flip the pillow huh? He’ll do one better. With a quick squat, he attempted to lift the entire mattress in order to flip it over.

“Time TO FLIP! WHITEY COME HELP”

[ Bishal Jha ]

“Huh? Alright, coming!” Cupping the burner carefully with both hands — he didn’t trust his single brain cell not to not drop it in a moment of impulse — he hastened to his new best buddy’s side. Setting the burner down beside the bed and copying the other’s squat, Bishal grabbed the corner of the mattress. “On three?”

"Hmm... Interesting" She examined the lock carefully until staring at it became unbecoming to her, all while she pondered on the reason behind the rest of drawers being empty. Maybe it was a puzzle? There could be something under the empty ones. "There should be a key somewhere in here—" A loud metal clang interrupted, Yule ducked down and covered her ears. She puffed and coughed at a sight that shook her off guard. The chair thrown crashed into the wall with a force that should've shoved in a giant dent. Yule kept wide eyes as she backed against the cupboards until she noticed something else entirely. A metal vent placed high on the wall.

She sprang to her feet, and ran over to the vent-wall, leaning forward as to check if the space was big enough to climb through, she even squared her fingers. Yule turned around to grab the sort of bent up chair, and placed it underneath the shaft then climbed on top of it. She thought that maybe if the screws we're flathead, she could use the scalpel to unscrew them. "Can you check the cabinets?"

Although they were able to tug the end of the mattress up a little bit, it did not lift from the frame. Perhaps it was strapped down to the frame to prevent movement, and it seemed the frame was nailed down to the floor. Perhaps things that were on the bed were mobile?

Claireese Stonewright

Claireese.jpgClaireese took in a deep breath after the chair had clattered to the ground. She watched as the smaller girl was messing with the vent that was on the wall that had been smacked with the chair. While the girl was doing her thing with the vent, Claireese was beginning to feel way too hot in her anger. She tore her fluffy jacket off, throwing it up on one of the counters, leaving her in her skin-tight white tee.

At the other girl's question, she sighed, "You got it." She threw open every single cabinet door she could, with plenty of force to slam each time, looking in each one to see if anything was in them. Her eyes didn't match the force of her arms though, she probably looked more melancholy at this point. Then her eyes fell to the sink. She felt a dryness in her throat, so she went to the sink to turn the water on. It would be a good way to cool down too.

Taigakitt Taigakitt Kana.M. Kana.M.

Although the cabinets were empty, when the handle to the sink was turned a creaking and rumbling could be heard through the pipes. After a moment, from the faucet fell out a rolled up piece of paper. The creaking stopped shortly after, but nothing else came out from the faucet following the paper, water or otherwise.

"That's stupid," Yule muttered as she jumped off the chair and kicked at the ground frustratedly. What were those cap thingies anyway—, "Ugh, there's no time to have fits Yule!" She whisper-shouted again while raising her arms high as she stomped the safe again. She got on to her knees and began fumbling around with the dial. "I know a fail-safe for these things, I think. I might anyway. Was it five or fifteen. Or seventeen? Argh, why won't this just work!" Yule kept at it with the safe, trying several possible combinations before giving up.

She hit the safe hard on the top to show it a thing or two, "Now I'm angry." Grumbled over to miss whatever-the-heck-her-name-is. "After this, I have to have a long nap," she declared openly. Yule placed herself next to the mystery woman and held her hands to her sides firmly, "Whatcha got there," she asked. Reluctantly she reached down to grab the piece of paper lying in the sink, before just snatching it away. "No time for responses, no time for waiting, we're about to die. You can apologize later Yule." She unfolded the small piece of paper to see what was written. "Now what does this say..."

Taigakitt Taigakitt Kana.M. Kana.M.

Unfortunately the fail-safe Yule had in mind didn't work when it came to opening the safe. Neither did banging on its walls.

When the piece of paper which fell out from the sink was unfurled, it was revealed there was a message typed out on it: "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

Claireese Stonewright

Claireese.jpgClaireese heard the grumble from the other girl about her being angry now. What? Was she not angry in the beginning? She stared at her for a minute after giving up from fumbling with the sink's valves, really wanting water to come out. Leaving it on, she had hoped maybe that would allow water to flow.

As she stared at the girl in slight disbelief, she heard a clunk, which the other girl reached to retrieve. Sniffing, she growled audibly at the sink, mostly because she was annoyed that it gave them some stupid paper over giving her a drink.

Claireese fell silent, sitting on the ground with her legs crossed, as she processed what the girl had read out loud.

"A secretive, invisible heart?" The redhead scratched the back of her head as she was thinking. She remembered that there was more than sharp objects on the table. Standing up, she walked to the table, seeing some sort of purple light laying there.

Oh. A black light. She picked it up. As much as she wanted to destroy everything, she knew it would be bad to do that with something that might help them.

What were black lights designed for? She flipped it on, blinding her eyeballs for a minute, since she was looking directly at the bulb without thinking as much about what would happen. Blinking a moment, she looked around.

Invisible heart... Stethoscopes can listen to those, but she hadn't remembered seeing one as they tore the room apart.

Well, nothing else to do but SCAN THE WHOLE ROOM?! To think logically, it might be better to avoid the walls for now. She doubted walls had hearts. Anything heart level though?

She scanned the rolling table with the light, just a quick pass, then the safe, though it was just the front, the chair's seat- because an ass is something that her heart loves, and the table she had been laying on, starting at head level, and quickly moving to the feet. Though she had no clue what she was looking for. As she was flashing the dark light over everything she could think of, she spoke to the girl, "Hey. Did you see any heart-shaped objects anywhere, or anything carved like a heart? What do you think about that heart clue?"

Frustration filled him. The mattress was out, it seemed tied down by something. This was less than a useless endeavor, it was a senseless one. He let out a huff of protest before flinging the pillow across the room. The stupid sounding voice said to check under it but he was less interested in listening by the minute.

“What a shittily designed room. Part of me wants to just give them a piece of my mind for locking everything. What’s the point of hiding batteries in a mostly empty room anyways?”

Still not playing by their game hadn’t exactly gotten them anywhere either he picked up some of the brushes and makeup left to them. He stared deeply at them trying to find a sign. Still nothing. He groaned before going to the pillow. He didn’t touch it but instead tilted his head back and shouted to the roof.

“FINE WE’RE PLAYING YOUR DUMB GAME NOW GIVE US ANOTHER HINT.”

[ Bishal Jha ]

Bishal made an enthusiastic sound of agreement at his new buddy’s perfectly valid complaints before cautiously patting him once on the shoulder. His friend had saved him from a terrible, horrible blazing-to-ashes end, but also seemed to have the temper control of a bomb with a lit fuse in a pool of alcohol. Being mindful was probably the better choice in this situation, he decided.

As his new best friend yelled at the invisible speakers, Bishal stared at the makeup splayed across the firmly tied down mattress and wondered if trying to melt them from their containers like an eager child in their mother’s makeup stash with a lighter in hand would help them find anything. If nothing else, it sounded a good way to release his pent-up outrage at his current state of affairs. Maybe. Heating up items with a flame in an almost burning room might also be a really dumb way to release his stifled indignation, but sometimes one only had lemons and lemons are therefore what they eat.

He tilted his head. That didn’t sound right. Shaking it off with the power of goldfish-level memory, he called out to his partner on the other side of the room. “Hey! I’m going to try to melt makeup with the burner!”

Bishal then proceeded to sit on the ground and fiddle with the buttons on the burner, hoping it did something that wouldn’t put him and his new buddy in further mortal danger.

Sadly, Santiago's screams at the ceiling garnered no response from the robotic female voice or any other sort of overseer. Although there was nothing remarkable with the pillow that now lay on the floor on the opposite side of the room, on the bed where it once was sat a flashlight.

On the burner that Bishal held there were two buttons: blue and yellow. When he pressed the blue one a small flame was ignited on top of it, and faded as soon as the button was released. When he pressed the yellow one, the robotic voice spoke up once again.

"Fuel added to the fire," it said. "Time until fire enters room is now 15 minutes."

The clock. The clock dropped so much. What the hell? He jumped at the voice. Searching desperately at what had taken their time away. That’s just cruel, their own efforts to get out could cost them time? There was only one explanation then, the makeup had a use and whatever they had nearly done must have been a bad choice.

“Fuck, whatever you just hit don’t do that again. I’m guessing this is like those old corpse party games. We don’t wanna accidentally lock ourselves into a bad end, so the game gives us reasons to not go down that path… At least I hope that’s the reason it cut our time by a sixth.”

He grabbed the flashlight off from the bed and turned it on as he squatted low to search under the bed. He found it worrying that Bishal hadn’t noticed it under his head but then again the dude was tied down and probably worrying about other things.

“Hey come lend me your eyes, obviously theres something good under since we can’t move the bed at all.”
