Futuristic DROP DEAD GORGEOUS [Military RP]

Can I have a tl;dr please??~ :3 *puppy eyes*

I did give a TL;DR version at the top of the Interest Check, but I can give you on in post as well.

We'll be participating in the first interstellar war in human history against the first suspected contact with an alien race from a suspected 'gaia' world much alike what Earth used to be with perfect living conditions. You will be a soldier a part of the First Expeditionary Force, a former colonization entity turned military strike group after an incident which killed thousands of civilians and military high command officials. The roleplay will start in orbit around Haven, the planet, and will tell the story of the 715th Armored Recon (which we are a part of).

If there isn't enough interest by tuesday next week, I'll close the interest check.

Right, so the deadline has been hit. I'd like to know if you all are still interested in the idea in order to consider whether to continue or to temporarily close the creation of the roleplay for a later date.

Please respond as rapidly as possible, I'm very eager to know if I should put down the effort as fast as possible or if I should wait.

I appreciate every interest you've taken in this so far quite a lot.

I've decided that, based on the information available to me, I'll be trying to make this roleplay a thing ASAP. It might take a while, and I'll be changing around some things based on the feedback given so I hope you'll stay patient with me. The least I want is for me to come back with the thing and have no interest in it whatsoever, so I'll be trying my best to make the lore and information available both appealing to you here and maybe those who will see it later.

For those who aren't interested anylonger I appreciate your passing interest in my idea nevertheless, and hope you all the best. We will maybe see eachother again in one roleplay or another.

Alright, so a basic blurb about how I'll be GMing this roleplay to start off: I can understand that writing a lot about something in a military format may be difficult, so I won't be expecting gigantic essays on the nature of general dynamics from any of my participants, I only request your continued participation. I will personally write quite a lot, I reckon, as I am the GM and I'll be setting the atmosphere of the situation from both a tactical and strategic vantage point.

People are welcomed to write or not write however much or little as one deems necessary. I won't be requiring any form of post requirements in order to participate, though I do like to see interesting and developed characters with some backbone, as I adore watching what other people write up. Though I will require thematicism; a member of the military will know the lingo, and to aid that I will be making an encyclopedia-like information hub in the LORE section. This section will contain both codenames, abreviations, and callsigns, as well as detailed information about military assets all the way from your weapons to the ship details and numbers of both the expeditionary force and the IUN navy in entirety.

One will most probably expect that, on missions in the RP, I'll be taking the command of the plutoon or something equally relatable and more 'contactable', whereas also taking command of far more strategic and off-the-ground perspectives.

I'll be assisting those who have trouble coming up with what to write, so do not feel worried about that.

I'll commence working on the OOC, IC, Lore, and Character sections of the roleplay as soon as I get to eat in, roughly, 5-6 hours.
The timeline for my commencing work on that might be derailed or pushed back depending on my personal perfectionism. I have a somewhat aesthetic demand from myself, but I lack the BBCoding know-how in order to make it a thing. Assistance would be excellent if anyone is an avid BBCoder.

That would be all, PM me here or on Discord with questions or if you wish to strike up a conversation. I am not the best converser this world has ever known, so do expect awkward handling on my part if you simply wish to converse with me for whatever reason. My discord is far more reliable if you wish to rapidly contact me.

I request that those who are interested subscribe, or watch this thread for incoming reports done by me as to the progression of the creation of the roleplay itself, as well as potential questions posed by me to you. This will be my first character roleplay in a while, and my first time in a while hosting any roleplay at all, so I might be making requests more frequently than I personally expect.

I can kind of BBCode... if it helps.

Progress is being made. BBCoding has been initiated through the aid of Enmyira Enmyira . Now it's just up to me to make this in as soon a timeframe as I can realistically manage without tiring myself out mentally.

Hey, I've read the posts. I want to see what I can make out of this, so give me time to think for a while. There are a lot of questions that need to be asked here, as our knowledge of the entire story is quite patchy. Plenty of people here aren't really well-versed in the military or in politics, but it won't be much of a handicap when we can get them moving. As far as I know, they'll probably be privates, so they won't have to worry a lot. All they have to do is try to stay alive and follow orders.

I don't really know what to make of this world we're in. How did humanity unite under a single government? People like independence and they like to stay with people that they share an identity with. They don't want to answer to some distant dictator that doesn't know anything about them. Tell me, on what basis is this world government formed?

Can you tell us the major events that shaped the world as it is today? From here in 2018 to the current time? I feel like we're missing out on a lot. Just three events will be enough, no need to make things over-complicated.

What are the trends happening in the military that are relevant to us?
We could be looking at smarter weapons, letting the computer within the weapon systems do all the hard work for us. The downside is that the enemy could disable all that with an EMP attack.
We could even still be using weapons made in the 20th century, in response to all the weaknesses of high-tech weapons that rely on electronics.
Commanders could be encouraging their subordinates to take initiative, making faster and more flexible decisions.
Those are just some examples of these trends, but since we are dealing with a mysterious enemy with unknown capabilities, we better bring in our A-game.

All your questions are being answered in the information encyclopedia that will accompany the launching of the roleplay.

Smart munitions and future tech are already in the process of being brainstormed by myself.

The IUN is formed through the resulting accumulations of globalization and economic unification through globalized commerce and marketry. The IUN is, obviously, not a dictatorship nor would I think anyone would ever think that is the case, considering it is literally the UN, but with the added Interstellar, due to the fact that it encapsulates all the worlds of the Pegasus Cluster. It is federal, with each former nation constituting a state within the federal union of nations. The IUN itself is ruled through the federal office of government, represented through both local and popularity.

The IUN military went from severely underfunded and undermanned between five stars to the primary point of strategic importance after the Europaia incident, after which recruitment surge massed immensely and funding expanded even more. The funds towards the military had already increased since the military handles exploration and initial habitation, especially in the first planet outside of the 'barrier'. But due to the Europaia incident the military has since begun getting the resources it needs and is initiating proper-rearming (going from a lawkeeper to a proper fighting entity). Few people saw the military as worth the buck, considering that there were no wars to fight and only small insurgency groups to squash, the jobs of police and military became interlocked for a long period of time, with the military's only difference being its assets. Expensive assets.

The IUN has not been without its hardships within its own sphere of influence, in fact, the last fifty years are the only years in the IUN and UNs combined history that has not seen conflict between nationals and the ideologically extreme, further leading the army to loosen its combat effective edge.

These things are obviously only visible to the objective observer, most if not all are estimating overwhelming victory. Not too surprising considering the size of the military, though. We'll have to see what happens. Either case, the 1st Expeditionary Force is the only combat effective(ish) element available right now, with all other naval assets undergoing refitting etc.
