Mission Log 1
Jacques: The Butler of the Vale
Jacques arrived back downstairs, picking up the papers from the table and pinning them to the wall. He needed to get dinner started soon, so he quickly pinned each paper professionally. He gave a small sigh, and left. Dinner was the next mission for good ole' Jacques. The Missions were as followed.

Mission 1. 5 Banshee's have been spotted close to Halbert City, within the farm lands of the east, where apples are produced. The Banshee's have been known to lure some men, women, and children to certain death. Locals consider this simply a case of sleep-walking. (1-2 people)
Mission 2. In Sanctum City, a Fire-Demon has been spotted sucking the heat out of people's bodies when they rest. Locals believe this as a case of extreme hypothermia, the Fire-Demon has been known to target the homes of weavers. (1 person)
Mission 3. -Major- The far side of Halbert City, closest to Kings Gate City, a powerful succubus has been spotted, take with extreme caution. (2 people required)
Mission 4. A cat spirit has been causing mischeif in Sanctum City, simply exorcise the spirit to allow it passage into the afterlife. (1 person)

Joseph Vale: Lord of Cerberus Vale
Joseph chuckled lightly at Irvi's inability to pronounce Sayogoromo correctly. He certainly didn't mind. He smiled down at Irvi and Riko. "Come, first I think you should meet Jacques, he should be in the kitchen by now making supper. You will be able to meet everyone else during dinner time, a time to actually be social, sit down and enjoy conversation!" Joseph then decided to escort them along to the Kitchen where Jacques would be.

Soma Vale: White Haired Devil
Arriving in the Inner City, Soma never fully understood the posh life of rich people. He thought it weird, he thought them weird. And Vincent Bernhard even more weird. The circular city was easy to traverse, in the ultimate middle of the continent lay Bernhard Castle, home of the most powerful family in Bordova. Some could say at first glance, the Bernhard family struck a deal with the devil to gain such control. Though the people of Bordova thought them as saviors. The pioneers of Bordova, and the ultimate father-mother figure among them. Nobody really knew how the Bernhard Family came to Bordova, though Soma had a suspicion that the Bernhard's used someone with magical talents to get here. That is when, good ole' weird, giggly, and dark Vincent Bernhard appeared. "Good evening, Mr. Vale. I see you've acquired my message, I am so glad that you've arrived at such a time. I thought you would have eaten supper before coming..." He smiled pleasantly at Soma, who in returned raised an eyebrow, thumping his revolver against his head. "Look, I don't got much time for your games, nor the multiple questions about my heritage, Mop-Head. Just tell me where the target is, I'll take 'em out. And then enjoy the rest of my night in a romantic, peaceful boat ride." Vincent, in turn chuckled. "Within the church of our good lord, Soma. The demon is much a nuisance..Do be careful though, I'm unsure what you'll find afterwards..The Inner City has its fair share of interesting monters roaming about.." Vincent left, leaving Soma to trek his way to the church. "I've got to hand it to him, he's got a laugh weirder than any monster's face.."

Cordelia Zale
A Princess Meeting Newcomers

So she really didn’t have to ask. After all, people here knew each other inside out, like how she knew that Jian was considerate. And because of that the human girl was likely thinking something like “If you were awake then you’d have known” or something like that and didn’t say it out loud due to her usual reservation. But of course, that’s just her thought.

Exactly. Oh and thank you both for the info.

Cordelia enthusiastically smiled and expressed her gratitude to Jian as well as Isaac who just added up. Normally she would also add something like “It seems sleeping during meeting isn’t so nice after all.” but since a certain butler wasn’t there to say “you would still do it next time though”, it just slipped her mind. The short girl also felt like being badmouthed and kinda knew who was the culprit, though—

Well then, I’ll be leaving and... have some fun.

She winked at her fellow hunters before walking into the mansion energetically. Soon, Cordelia found her target, which was a familiar demon walked with 2 youngsters toward the kitchen. She quickly scanned them. A green-haired... boy? She almost couldn’t tell due to their similarities in height and physique. And another one, a red-haired girl in sweaters.. 3 of them? A cold? More importantly, she realized that the air around them was filled with anxiety and uncertainty, but also a sense of trust and warmth.

As expected of this guy.

Good day Joseph.” she greeted casually before trying to look the two kids in the eye. Based on their reactions it seemed the girl in sweaters was more nervous than typical newcomers. This made Cordelia wipe all the mischievous ideas out of her head. Giving out a friendly smile, she said in a soft-spoken manner.

Nice to meet you, I’m Cordelia Zale, hun... resident of Cerberus and part of this family.

Was she being too considerate? The pink girl gave a mental shrug. She was about to offer a hand, but she paused and gave a brief look to herself.

5 ft height, childish face, frilly dress, and what’s more, a tiara on her head.

They were still nervous newcomers, but a little bit should be fine, right? As she thought that, Cordelia continued. Her voice became somewhat elegant, far from cold and arrogant.

—I’m 11 years old. Oh and you can call me Princess. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

She also stepped backward and finished her line with a curtsy.

As she walked down the estate's halls and corridors with Joseph and Riko, Irvi shook her head in response to the slightly older boy's question. He hadn't spoken to her up to this point, so his sudden worry confused her a little. She figured she'd be over it soon enough, and there was no reason to concern him. She flashed him a quick little smile to reinforce the idea that nothing was really wrong, before turning her attention to what was ahead of her.

They had neared what she assumed was their destination, when out of no where a little girl skipped up to the little group and greeted them. She didn't think she could've been more than... maybe 10? Irvi squeaked a little greeting and wondered if she was actually expected to call her Princess, or if it was a joke. The little girl finished her introduction with a curtsy- did that mean she had to curtsy too? Is that what you did with princesses? Confused and red in the face, Irvi awkwardly returned the curtsy before shuffling behind Joseph, as though to hide herself.

Before stopping by the dining hall, Isaac dropped by his room to gather a coat and canteen for water. He wanted to be ready to leave for his mission on a moments notice.

His room was rectangular, with a window along the far wall. At some point, it might’ve felt like a large space, but the plants crowding the floor and walls made it feel confined. He never intended to amass such a collection, bringing back small samples of greenery at a time. Framing the window, larger ficus and trees created a natural curtain, meshing together so you could barely see the wall. Isaac left the window open unless there was an extreme weather pattern happening outside. He also had a raised cushion beneath the sill, and a bed with a rough wooden frame. Most of his possessions fit in a set of drawers, or were casually placed around the room. Because he was always planting and re-planting, the chances of leftover dirt on the floorboards was high. Upkeep for the plants was extensive, but it gave him something to do in his spare time. Plus, with his job consisting of destroying demons, it felt good to build something up instead of tearing it down.

Making it to the hall, he was relieved to see Jacques. He wasn’t surprised to hear that Soma was receiving a special assignment. As one of the oldest members of the estate, it made sense that he would be trusted with the trickier situations. Taking a seat the the table, he leaned back comfortably, squinting at the papers Jacques had started to organize before he left. His mind was taken off the missions when he noticed a boy and girl enter the room, accompanied by Joseph. Both were younger than him, though he couldn’t guess an exact age. The girl was meeting Cordelia, and he couldn’t quite make out their conversation.

They’ll ruin everything, Incana grumbled. I bet they won’t even want you as a hunter, now that they’ve shown up.

Trying not to glare, he slid out of his chair, joining the small group that was forming. “Hello,” he greeted, almost managing to smile. “I’m Isaac, I’m a hunter here. Or- almost a hunter. You must be our newest recruits. So tell me, what brought you here?” It might’ve come across as a friendly question, but his face was blank and unforgiving. He would've been more abrupt, but with Joseph himself standing not far away, he didn’t want to push it.

Riko Miracus
Newbie

Riko was quiet on his way to the kitchen with Joseph. Irvi's answer just went through his brain. He didn't mind if she wasn't really usong her mouth to talk since he is also quiet himself. He didn't say another word. Deep thinking occupied him at this moment. He always remembered to keep aware of things, whether it is outside of the estate or not. Riko's mind was flooded with the fact he got to this place that no other criminal had. He always sees himself as a pawn of someone's schemes, this mindset has morphed him ever since he was kidnapped by a bunch of sick minded freaks.

His attention was brought back to reality when a small younger looking little girl came to them. She looked like a real royalty despite her age. "Cordelia Zale" a name he will try to keep in mind too. He has to remember all of the resident's names if he wants to leave a good reputation.

"It is also a pleasure to meet you too, princess..." Riko had a polite tone of voice and a proper bow, showing respect to the girl. Despite his tone. He had an awkward pausefor some reason. He has seen people in fancy clothing like Cordelia's and how the people greet each other but he has never been this close to some who looks more expensive than he is.

"My name is Riko, Riko Miracus." Riko revealed his his name without thinkinhg twice. He seems to be cool about it. Riko stood in place like a scarecrow as he waited for Joseph and Irvi's next move.

After few moments. Another fellow resudent came by. His name was simply Isaac. Something about him is off and he knows to himself that he is oddly different than most. It's like he has seen this kind of behaviour somewhere in his crime days. Riko had a brief silence before looking at Joseph with his eyes.

Joseph Vale: Lord of Cerberus Vale
The tall, old man smiled when Cordelia approached, he wasn't expecting her to be so open to meeting the newcomers. But building relations is always good when started early, he gave a neat little bow to Cordelia. "Madame, it is nice to see you on this fine night. I'm certain you'll look through the missions tonight. I was just about to show Mr. Riko, and Miss Irvi the kitchen, and by extension meet Jacques. After supper, I think I'll dust off my old hunting bones and take these two out on a mission accustomed to their level."
When Isaac arrived, Joseph smiled. "Ah, Isaac it is good to see you doing well. I heard from Ezekiel that the ceremony for both you and Yama will soon be at hand. He's acquired enough material to make your ceremonial weapon. He just needs time to temper it for use. Your Ceremonial Mission will soon be at hand, you and Yama will become Full-Fledged Hunters of Cerberus." Lightly clapping Isaac's shoulder, he seemed proud. Isaac came a long way, though both Yama and Isaac came around the time Ezekiel's forge was at a shortage of materials. Thus, their ceremonies had been post-poned, it makes no difference considering both of them excelled in their work.
Joseph turned to Irvi and Riko. "The kitchen is over there, I will wait for when you both wish to move on."

Soma Vale: White Haired Devil.
Soma arrived at the church, and though Soma never understood why the people of the Inner City had one, considering they favored technology and advancement of science, it was probably for decorations. And perhaps, for the poorer cities to travel to and pay respects when they felt like it. Soma stared up at the finely detailed craft of Christ on the Cross. Resting his revolver over his shoulder, he whistled softly. "Seems like you pissed off the wrong people at the nail salon, big guy." Pointing at the depicted puncture wounds upon Jesus. "Next time, I think you should tip. Not a good idea to be stingy right?" He sat down at one of the benches, sighing. Low and behold, a demon manifested from the ceiling. Hissing down at Soma, whom in return looked up to meet its target.
"Well, well, well! Jesus might have needed a little bit of eyeliner before he went out, but you need the whole shi-bang! Ugly doesn't even describe what you are." He laughed, upon which the demon dropped down in-front of him. Roaring out at Soma, the demon was actually quite disgusting in appearance, a 4 legged creature of massive size, multiple eyes all over its face, and large serrated fangs. Soma, was as calm as can be. "Sorry sweetheart, but it looks like the beauty salon is closed, not because of work hours. But I think its because they don't wanna deal with your ugly ass!" He kicked the demon's mouth upwards, pushing the bench backwards he shot the demon in the face a few times. The demon retaliated by jumping at its prey, claws outstretched.
Soma laughed, aimed at the heart, and concentrated. Blowing a hole straight through its chest, where its heart would have been..The demon faded away in dust, a scream barely human in its presentation following behind...Something didn't feel right though, Soma was sure that the mission would have been harder than this..Why have him take out a low-level demon inside a church as a special mission? Soma couldn't quite understand it, but he was glad his mission was finished...Or so he thought, as he was leaving the church he would be unaware of a presence that watched over him...Waiting to strike.

Cordelia Zale
A Friendly and Sweet(-lover) Assistant Chef

Oosp.. hahahahaha!!

Despite trying to hold it, Cordelia burst into laughter.

Ahaha... come on, you guys don’t have to be that formal, especially you Joseph. Thanks for playing along though, but like I said a billion times already -names suffice.

She walked past the old man before stopping in front of the new kids

That said, I do like how honorific “princess” sounds. Keep using it if you don’t mind” Her voice became more enthusiastic and energetic. She also made a teasingly grin that should have ruined all her images of elegance Riko had. As for the shy girl, Cordelia looked her in the eye while also filtering any invasive vibe. With how she looked, she had always been in an easy spot to approach people like this girl, so it’s natural for her to know some tricks and tips.

“Irvi right? I assure you people here are nice, real nice. And sorry for teasing you, but I must say, you curtsied splendidly”

Cordelia tried to pat the girl on her shoulder as if to say “You have nothing to worry about.” Then she saw Isaac who introduced himself and asked a question to the newcomers. He seemed to try to be friendly, which was nice, but Cordelia swore the next time they were together she would lecture this guy about facial expressions -intensely. However, for now she had another objective in mind. “Oh right, good luck for the ceremony” and “Let’s talk more at dinner” was the last thing she said to Isaac and the kids before she left the group behind and headed toward where Joseph just pointed at.

I’m here

In the kitchen, the pink girl nonchalantly announced her arrival before walked straight to a certain drawer. She then opened it and turned to the old butler.

I know you’re not serving these desserts before the meal, so bon appétit~♡

It seemed she was familiar with this place. While happily chewing and making did-I-do-anything-wrong? eyes, Cordelia snapped her fingers. Water that had been lying dormant around the room began moving. They flew out of their containers before rushing toward anything that require their use. As the water began their job, the girl looked at Jacques

Say Jacques, I heard we have some missions tonight, mind sharing the details?

“I heard from Ezekiel that the ceremony for both you and Yama will soon be at hand. He's acquired enough material to make your ceremonial weapon.”

Isaac’s mouth curled into a quick smile, pleasantly surprised at the news. It was real, solid proof that’d he made it. His mind raced with the possibilities a weapon could bring. With the right tool, he could stand his own against the ancient demons that roamed the halls. Speaking of which, Incana had grow quiet when Joseph approached. It was Isaac’s theory that his own demon was intimidated by Joseph, and tended to hush down when he was in the room.

He didn’t want to seem too needy, or impressed by the news in front of the newcomers, but he wanted to show his appreciation. “Thank you Joseph, truly, for the opportunity. Your faith in me won’t go unrewarded. With Ezekiel’s skills, I feel you will see my full potential. I know it’s a responsibility that I’m ready for. ” Incana paced greedily in his head, as if leering at his earnest response.

“Oh right, good luck for the ceremony, let’s talk more at dinner”

“Thanks Cor, and I’m counting on it, see you then.” He watched her stroll into the kitchen, overflowing with the upbeat energy she possessed. Isaac felt like he struggled to keep up with her spirit, but tried his best regardless. When he was having an off day, she (like many others) could drive him crazy. But today, with the fresh news from Joseph, he felt less uptight. Her charming personality made him feel like a boring slab of rock in comparison, and he never knew how to treat her. On one hand, acting like she was a teen seemed appropriate, but he didn’t know her true age. From what he’d read as a child, demons didn’t show signs of aging like humans did, and she was at least a good portion demon, if not full blown. Now and again, he’d see a glimpse of wisdom that was beyond her (apparent) years.

Not feeling especially motivated to do anything before dinner, considering there wouldn’t be enough time to do a worthwhile task, he returned to the table. Sliding his chair back, he kicked his feet onto the table, fantasizing about what dinner might bring. He was starving, and the spicy enticing smells permeating from the kitchen was no help.

Irvi didn't think her face could turn a deeper shade of red.

Another boy had come over, introducing himself as Isaac. The words he was saying were pretty friendly, but... he was scary. She wasn't sure if it was from the facial expressions he was making (or lack there of), or just his general demeanor. She found herself barely able to answer in anything but another little squeak, wrapping her arms around herself in an almost defensive manner. She supposed it was, but god it was freezing in the house. She glanced around, wondering if a window or something was open.

The girl named Cordelia had suddenly started laughing, teasing her, Riko, and Joseph for being so formal with her. Had she messed up already? The young looking girl walked towards her and Riko, and though she was shorter than Irvi, she was still oddly intimidating. Less so than with everyone else, but still. She reassured her that the people here were nice and apologized for teasing her, after which she complimented Irvi on her curtsy. Wishing she could shrink herself, Irvi listened to the brief conversation between the older residents of the estate, relieved when the two people that greeted them went their separate ways.

"The kitchen is over there, I will wait for when you both wish to move on."

Joseph had turned to the two younger kids, urging them to check out the kitchen. Irvi could already smell whatever was cooking in there, even outside the room- it made her stomach rumble just thinking about whatever food was in there. Hesitating at first, Irvi detached herself from the little group and trailed off in the direction Joseph had indicated and where she'd seen the younger girl go, occasionally glancing back to see if Riko was following.

She didn't completely enter the room at first, sticking her head in to scope things out until the enticing smells drew her further into the room. Irvi wondered what was cooking, barely realizing who else was in the room as she took everything in.

Xingcai_Artwork_(DW9).png"Beautiful?" She blushed slightly looked over to Soma. Did he think she did? She shook her head the blush disappearing. Then it hit her the incredibly stupid words that came out of his mouth. He thinks that if he gave called her beautiful it would make her think he was spying on her?! Why the hell would she think that?! Why would anyone think that if they got a complement?! He doesn't actually spy one people does he? She breathed in trying not burst out the thought's she was thinking and glanced at him. Leave it alone Jian you'll just get more irritated.

Jian looked over to Issac when asked if anyone was hungry. "We should be having dinner soon." Jacques had came back home but by the time she noticed he was already heading to Soma's room. She smiled watching him. He had really helped her get settled into the mansion plus he was the only one that knew of her nightmares. When Jacques came back down stairs he posted up the mission list and Jian walked over to take a look at it. As she was looking at it she realized she should probably go get Sayogoromo since they would be having diner soon. She headed up to his room and opened his door slowly. "Sayogoromo we're going to be having dinner soon. Might want to come on down." She didn't come in. She stand in the doorway peaking in bit in his room. Was always interesting to see what someone's room looked like. Usually said something about their personality.

Sayogoromo has done his best to get some rest, but he had too much going on in his mind to actually sleep. So to help calm his body and his mind, he decided to burn some herbs. Like arms, his hair moved across the room and lit the matches that sparked the the herbs inside of the ceramic bowl. The pile of burning leaves and petals filled the room with a wild arm that smelled like a forest. The smoke it created was fairly dense and it’s effects were potent enough to finally help the demon relax. While the others prepared for dinner, the herbs took, Sayogoromo’s mind off of his pain.

A few minutes of peace and quiet was enough to put him in a better mood, so when the door was opened he didn’t have a foul comment. Instead, he sat up in his bed, kimono still hanging off of hiss shoulders. “Nothing lasts forever.” He sighed softly and glanced over to the bowl. A few strands of hair twisted themselves around one another until it was thick enough to lift up the top and place it on the bowl. The flames quickly died down thanks to the lack of air. One foot after the other. he stepped into his geta and started towards the door. The fog parted around him just before he opened the door and let’ it slip out into the hallway.

“Thank you, Jian.” Sayogoromo’s eyes ran over her appearance once before he smirked. “Have the missions been brought in?” Stepping out of the doorway, he closed it behind him and gestured for his fellow hunter to lead the way.

Jacques: Butler of Cerberus Vale
Jacques looked up from his intense concentration on the food. Giving an old, peaceful smile towards Cordelia. "Ah yes, the missions. Not a lot today, but certainly enough to keep everyone busy. Soma was sent on a special mission early. He barely eats dinner these days, that boy is going to find out one way or another after he becomes Lord of the Estate that he needs to take care of himself more. Joseph grows older, and I'm unsure when he'll feel like its time to go. Anyhow, 4 missions. Sayogoromo and Jian are tasked for the 1st mission, Yama for the 2nd, you and Isaac for the 3rd. Joseph will probably take the new recruits out to the 4th mission. A simple excorism of a cat should help Joseph explain to the newcomers what its like here." Cracking his fingers, he began picking up large dishes of food walking over to the large table and setting them all down. Steaks, potatoes, vegetables soaked in a sweet brown sugar sauce. Hot sausage, an added flair of chili pepper and garlic crushed up into a sort of paste brushed over the sausage. Large helpings of rice, honeyed chicken, and to top it off, Jacques brought out large barrels of soda. A delicious sugary drink only purchased in the Inner City.

Joseph: Lord of Cerberus Vale.
He watched as Irvi moved on towards the Kitchen, smiling. He would follow as soon as Riko moved as well, but he decided to shuffle closer towards Irvi, just to make sure she'd have company. He placed his hand on the kitchen door, opening it fully. "Dinner, everyone!" He announced to everyone, he would make sure Irvi was safely inside before the army came forth. Within the Vale Mansion, when dinner was ready you'd best be ready for a storm to hit the dining room. He smiled softly at everyone that would arrive.

Soma: White Haired Devil.
As Soma paced himself through the Inner City, he met a good friend of his, Mr. Meow Meow. An old stubby cat he would sit and pet, while talking to in the dead of night. Soma threw his hands up, smiling "Mr. Meow Meow! Long time no see you furry old womanizer you!" Mr. Meow Meow responded with a long, drawn out mewl. Soma extended his hand out to the old cat, and began scratching under his chin, the old cat began to purr and laid down next to Soma's foot. Soma plopped down next to the old feline, petting its head. "What a beautiful night, isn't it ya old bastard? Any females you've been courting?" The cat said nothing, simply purred in pure delight to Soma's petting. "I bet you I could get a girl faster than you, I've got the looks, as compared to you old man" Soma rose his revolver, looking into the stainless steel as if it were a mirror. Giving a nice little smirk towards the barrel. "Ahh, who am I kidding right? Its probably impossible to court a lady when you're out killing demons all night. Ya know, I bet Sayogoromo knows a thing or two about courting, maybe he's picked up a few beauties in his time eh?" The old cat only responded with a meow. "Hey, look at least I'm not an idiot. I'd know when a girl likes me." He lifted his leg up over the other, laying back against the cold cobblestone sidewalk. Soma stared up at the moon, smirking...While the old cat, if he could speak. Would probably have disagreed with Soma's statement. The presence growing ever closer to Soma's location. Not yet being spotted by the White Haired Devil.

Riko Miracus

Riko kept his blank face game on. By far the residents are quite unique in their own way. Not just in appearance but also how the way they talk. He knew the day he stepped into the estate was the day his life would change. He no longer has to worry of being constantly harassed by others. Well... Not too much anymore. Riko can't stop thinking about the fact that what did he do in life to deserve this moment. Riko has been living in the shadows for so long he had mixed feeling for things. He can't relax just yet. Riko had this disturbed feeling in his gut. Not sickness but a dreadful feeling of great danger. Riko showed no disturbes face though. Riko kept quiet and supressed himself like he always does. Joseph told them to arrive at the kitchen whenever he's ready. Riko silently followed Joseph and Irvi with no acknowledgement. Riko found no interest in staying any longer. Besides he'll be meeting everybody at dinner anyway.

Cordelia Zale
A Lonely(?) Girl Trying to Make Friend

Mm-hmm

Cordelia let out an affirmative voice as the 4th piece of cake disappeared into her mouth. Isaac huh, what a perfect opportunity. She would do nothing and let that blank face deal with whatever the mission content was until his smile could satisfy her, that’s it. And if the mission went too smooth without him actually improving, then she would...

Her trains of thought were interrupted by the sight of a familiar red-haired girl in sweaters... Cordelia suddenly said “ah” and walked to the corner of the room that wasn’t in the line of sight of the poking head.

About the two new faces, she totally didn’t miss the strange feeling came from Riko’s actions, though she felt like such feeling stemmed from his past and required some time to address. Irvi though, she still hadn’t heard the red-haired girl made any sound that wasn’t a squeak. It seemed Joseph somewhat gained her trust, but an old man, regardless of how kind and perfect, could never be a girl’s best friend.

After a short while, Cordelia looked at an object in her palm; a cuff bracelet with the same silvery color as her tiara. She widened it and slid her wrist in.

The air, or to be more precise, the temperature of the vaporized water that covered her body surface immediately rose, as if turning on a heater.

The girl once again widened the bracelet and pulled her wrist out. The hot feeling vanished without a trace.

Cordelia stood still, letting Joseph’s announcement of dinner passed through her ears without overreacting to it like she always did. Altering the water temperature was fine, but the process of applying her ability to an object and making it permanent was extremely difficult and exhausting. Fortunately, she wasn’t going to spend so much energy tonight anyway. In the worst case, she’d just let Isaac do all the works while getting away with a face as dead as he wanted.

As for now—

Riko, Irvi!

She enthusiastically cried before rushing toward them. There was almost nothing in the voice that hinted how worn out the speaker was.

Look Irvi, I have a welcoming gift for you. Come on, try it out!

The pink girl showed a bracelet and forced it into the sweaters girl’s palm. Though with that gift she might be no longer called such.

And sorry Riko, my room only has girlish stuffs, but if you want one I can bring you right away, want it?

Paused and prepared for a bit, Cordelia skillfully turned her softer tone that was a result of exhaustion into one that expressing loneliness

I’m so glad that you moved here. A family sure is warm and nice, but sometime being the only child is quite boring you know.

She was certain that someone’s eyes just rolled skyward. The girl gave another brief pause, this time she didn’t have to come up with any facade. It’s what she had been saying from her heart ever since most 500 years ago. In fact, most people living here should have heard it at least once.

Let’s be family... and friend.

He watched the new kids leave the room. The girl hadn’t replied with her name and just responded with something he couldn’t quite catch.

Does she think she’s too good to tell you her name? Incana sneered, tongue curling over his nose. Isaac didn’t think so. Judging on her demeanor, she seemed more shy than anything, and the layered sweaters indicated she was seeking out some comfort. Or had a knitting hobby. Regardless, Incana made him feel sour that Irvi was finding friends elsewhere.

Isaac’s stomach pinched as the plates were lain out. He had been taught the importance of manners as a child, and was able to wait for the others to arrive. Incana, however, was not. Isaac imagined the beast was raised in a dank cave somewhere, judging on its manners, or lack thereof. Writhing to get out, Incana began leaking out of his ears in a dribble of black sludge. Eventually, the goo pooled together to form a lanky beast. Anticipating a lunge for the food, Isaac grabbed Icana’s back leg at the last moment as he dove for the chicken. Twisting mid air, legs flailing and mouth clacking, Icana brought Isaac crashing back off his chair.

Barely missing the disaster of ruining the entire meal, Isaac took the “small” distraction in stride, gathering himself calmly and clearing his throat as if nothing had happened. He smoothed his hair quickly, running his hands through the sides. Before more people arrived and Incana had another chance to create a scene, he hastily slopped a plate together and put it under his chair. Not consuming the souls of the living meant his demon needed extra food in compensation. He waited for his peers to arrive, staring blankly at the wide doors, willing them to swing open. From beneath him, the sounds of Incana eating made him want to find the nearest bridge and throw himself off it. The squishing, mulching sounds of people eating had always been his greatest tick.

He caught small echoes of conversation from the kitchen. It sounded like righteous friendly bullshit. He was grateful he hadn't wandered into the kitchen, because that was more than he could handle.

Irvi probably would've ran out of the kitchen when Cordelia came towards them, had Joseph and Riko not been by her. The little ball of energy had thrust something into her hands, saying it was a welcome gift. It was a bracelet, but it was oddly warm, even to her. Slipping it on, Irvi gave the girl a little smile and mumbled, "Thank you!" She wasn't sure how to respond to everything else she was saying, except for a quick little nod when she was finished. Irvi wondered if she was being genuine in what she was saying, but she couldn't really find a reason as to why an 11 year old would be lying about wanting to be friends.

Thankfully, she didn't have to wonder about that too much, with Joseph calling them all to dinner. Irvi vaguely remember where the dining room had been, and she assumed one of these nearby doors led into there, but she was hesitant to really venture off on her own just yet. She twisted the bracelet around her wrist, taking comfort in the peculiar warmth it provided.

Xingcai_Artwork_(DW9).png"Yep" Jian said answering Sayogoromo question. "No one has been assigned yet though." She lead the way down the stairs and into the dinning room. She made she sure to glance back to see if Sayogoromo needed help. Once they reached the dinning room Jian headed on into the kitchen and peaked her head and heard Jacques going over who was o what mission. Looked like she was teamed up with Sayogoromo. Jian closed the door and sat down at the table not really sitting next to anyone and then looked over to Sayogoromo. "Looks like we're partners for tonight." Jian said as she watched Joesph and the two new comers come in to the room. "We got the first mission." She said assuming her new where the list of missions were posted incase he wanted to go have a look at it. Jian would tell him what the mission was but she couldn't remember what it all said. She had smelled the food coming from the kitchen and her mouth was close to watering but she had to remind herself not to eat to much before a mission. Just enough so she would have energy to fight. She didn't want to stuffed and sluggish.

While he felt the pain less intensely, there was still a persistent irritation that raged through, Sayogoromo’s body. News of the missions helped to distract him however, but only briefly. With small steps he followed, Jian through the hallways and eventually back downstairs. Her glance back was undoubtedly to check if he’d fallen and needed help. He hated when people did that.

His arrival to the dinning room was marked by tardiness. He had walked a bit too slow, but managed to make it there without assistance or an incident. When he entered the room, he flashed a quick smile and then moved around to one of the empty seats. “Aren’t you lucky, Jian.” His smile formed a cocky smirked as he plopped down into his chair. “You have the best partner in the house.” Sayogoromo leaned back in his seat and let the his head hang over the back of the chair.

Joseph and the newcomers’ arrivals went unnoticed by the demon as his mind was focused on himself and his eyes closed.

Reveal of Secondary Antagonist
Joseph: Lord of Cerberus Vale
The old man smiled, watching everyone file in to the dining room. He was unaware of Isaac's outburst with Incana earlier, having been more focused on everyone else getting into the dining room. Joseph did look a tad worried though, Soma's seat was empty yet again. The young man was much too impetuous, never took care of himself. Always relied on his demonic lineage to keep him moving forward. Despite this, Soma still fights for the good of mankind, using whatever power he can muster for himself. Joseph smiled to himself, before setting himself down in his own chair, he reminisced about the days when Soma was a rather small boy. Feisty, smart-mouthed, cocky, and always willing to pull a lame joke even in the face of danger. He hasn't changed much other than maturity among his friends and family. Joseph considered that a good thing, a simple life is sometimes better than having to deal with a complex one. He would allow Irvi and Riko to find their own seats among the family. To find their own place among the crew. A choice that they could make on their own.

Soma: White Haired Devil
The quiet night was cut short, at the last minute, Soma dodged what seemed to be a strike from a sword. Taking Mr. Meow Meow into his hands just before the slash connected to the ground. Leaving a large indent in the sidewalk. Soma shoo'ed Mr. Meow Meow away, and when the old cat was gone. Soma pulled out his revolver. Looking around. "Whoever did that better show themselves now, you just bothered Mr. Meow Meow's and my night. We were just about to cuddle up and tell each other how much we love one another too." Soma smirked slightly, but was met with another, light-speed slash against the air, barely blocking it with the barrel of the revolver. Soma was now on edge, knowing that whatever it was, wasn't playing...And didn't like his jokes either. "Well, I don't know what side of the bed you woke up on, but it's not fun ruining a couple's night out." Soma unloaded the cylinder, re-loaded it within just 3 seconds. And got back into stance, the moonlight wasn't enough for him to depict any movement in the shadows. But he was definitely trying to be cautious.

???: Mysterious Swordsman.
"How dissapointing..You rely on such a foolish tool to fight. Not only that you've become a complete joke." A man walked out of the shadows in Soma's line of sight. He had white hair much like Soma except slicked back, pale-blue eyes, and pale skin. His eyebrows were constantly furrowed, a prominent frown on his face. The man wore a red long coat, black pants and a black vest. Held tightly in his left hand was a katana, his thumb pressed against the guard of the katana. "I expected better from you, especially considering you were taken in by that old man.." Soma raised an eyebrow, shrugging softly at the man. "Look here, greaser. I don't know what kind of finger-snapping boy band you came out of but you're killing my vibe here tonight." The man shook his head, giving a dry laugh towards the joke. And began to move towards Soma. "This cannot be the extent of your power.. This is un-worthy of your bloodline.. It seems I'm going to have to force it out of you." Soma, skipped backwards, shooting at the swordsman, and each bullet was deflected by him as well with such an elegant pull and push of the blade from its scabbard by the thumb. When the man got close enough, he whispered to Soma something that made his bones shiver.. "Perhaps this can be expected though...By my little brother." The man shoved the butt of his hilt into Soma's stomach, sending him flying across the street, slamming into a wall a few feet away.

Riko Miracus
The new kid from the deep streets of Bordova's darkest alleys

Deep memories of his past were crawling back to him. He was having trouble staying calm. Luckily the little girl from earlier called his attention, he broke out of his shackled burden and faced the girl. She was offering something to him yet apologizing at the same time because it's not as good as Irvi's. Riko quickly widened his eyes, slightly to Cordelia's offering of welcoming gifts.

"Oh no no! Please! It's alright, there is no need for you to give me anything. Thank you for your offering." Riko humbly declined Cordelia's offer. He may have lived a dirty little crime life but he always have been behaving politely, through and through. A rather innocent answer to the ears of others but there is a hidden meaning behind such statement that only he can understand. Riko was actually had a small trauma on receiving objects from others. Thanks to his unforgiving past, each time he receives a object. Trouble always follows, whether the item is a trap or something worse. Especially if the item looks expensive.

Riko was always the patient one. Always on standby when things are unfolding. The dinner table scenario is no different from the filthy job he has to do during crime scheming on local farms or small banks. Riko is always next to the mastermind, standing at attention. Much like right now, except he is beside Joseph. He watched the other fellow residents enter the room. Each looking unique on their own. The trench coated boy felt worried about something. The vibe is calm but he felt the same thing every night. A sense of dread of being disturbed while sleeping. Riko spent too much time outside. So this feeling is nothing to be worried about.

As Jian swept into the room with Sayogoromo in tow, Isaac raised an eyebrow. “Wow, it’s great that you guys could join us,” he called, reaching for his cup and taking a long sip of soda.
So what if he’s feeling ill? He shouldn’t keep people waiting. Incana reminded him, quietly slinking back into his nose after finishing his meal. It felt like using a neti pot. Isaac’s eyes watered.

"We got the first mission."

“Hmm- good luck Jian. I was afraid Sayogoromo wasn’t showing up tonight. I thought for sure you finally lifted something too heavy and croaked,” he teased with no playfulness on his face. Sayogoromo’s calmness made him want to poke the bear even more. He almost made a remark about him being an “old man”, but that was probably just a fact. Who knew how old the demon was. All he knew is that every time he was late or moved too slowly, Incana set Isaac’s blood on fire with impatience. “Best partner huh?” He muttered under his breath. “I’m surprised if your mission will even be around by the time you get there.” He stabbed a potato, his irses glitching momentarily as Icana prompted the miserable comment.

The newcomers reentered to hall. He chewed, shamelessly giving them each a long stare. His gaze settled on the green haired boy. There was something sullen about him, an evenness that often came with life experience. Isaac couldn’t help but feel suspicious, as most people his age had an air of carelessness that was apparent. Keep your eye on that one, I’d bet he’s trouble. Icana whispered in a pointed tone. He was curious to see where him and the sweater girl would sit, and who they’d feel comfortable being next to.

Joseph also entered the space, standing in the room and herding the new kids. He looked deep in thought, but Isaac was burning to know details about the missions. “Have you heard any details from Jacques about tonight?” He sought, assassinating another potato. “Also, has anyone seen Soma? Should we be waiting for him, or did he run off again?” Lately, Soma had been less present at these group meetings, who knew what kind of trouble he was getting into.

Xingcai_Artwork_(DW9).pngJian looked over to Sayogoromo and smirked. "Really now? And here I was about to say the same thing to you." She laughed a little and then glanced around the room she noticed though there was seat that was empty. Soma, not really surprising to say the least. She looked over to Isaac who, for some stupid reason, was poking at Sayogormo. Was he trying to pissed off the demon? It was strange she was more afraid of having the demons here loosing their tempers and flying off the handle then she was of the ones she actually fought.

She let her thoughts moved on to the boy who seemed nervous maybe? She glanced at Isaac when he made the comment about the boy then did a slight eye roll. First Sayogormo now picking on the poor boy. When he asked about Soma she looked at the empty seat then looked at the food. "Probably went on a early mission knowing him. Anyway try not to start any fights tonight huh. Save your energy for the missions hmm?" She said her irritation starting to come through. She then smiled sweetly at him and then started to take a small helping of food.

While the self-administered treatment numbed some of the pain he felt, it did not numb, Sayogoromo’s emotions. He laughed lightly when, Jian joked with him about their skills and worth. He and her had not been the best of friends since their arrrival to the mansion, but he treated her with respect as he tried to do everyone else. Some people made that goal more difficult than others.

The jabs from Isaac were things that, Sayogoromo expected the others to feel, but no one dared to say anything because it was rude. “Isaac? Is that you? I hadn’t recognized you with those green, envious eyes of yours.” He leaned forward on the table, elbows placed on the edge. “Perhaps one day, once you’ve gotten enough missions under your belt, people will be willing to wait for you. Until then remember that’s even with my illness, I’d pick you apart in seconds.” The demon looked beyond everyone else and focused solely on the troublesome hunter. He hadn’t fed on humans for years and a voice deep within urged him to throw aside the artificial food and consume, Isaac. But, he knew that would be wrong. “Jian, we can discuss strategies on our way to the mission site.”

Irvi hesitantly scanned the room, trying to ignore the stare Isaac was giving her and Riko. The others already seated at the table were being a little... aggressive with each other, and she wasn't sure if they were joking or being completely serious. She decided they were being serious after a sickly looking person started to threaten Isaac, before turning around to talk to a woman apparently named Jian. She seemed nice enough, but then, Irvi hadn't even met her yet. She was a little scared to at this point.

Nervously, Irvi walked over to a seat by Isaac, hoping she wasn't making a huge mistake. She didn't think he liked her very much already, and a small part of her wanted him to at least find a legit reason to hate her if this was going to be the case. She scooched the chair over an inch or so to give Isaac a bit more space, before plopping down and mumbling to the older boy, "I'm sorry. I'm Irvi. Hi?" It was probably the most she'd said all night to someone that wasn't Joseph, and she supposed that was good. Progress.

Irvi managed to stop fidgeting with the little bracelet Cordelia gave her long enough to grab food, although it wasn't very much. She found she wasn't really hungry- she was nauseous, if anything, but she knew she had to eat. She pushed her food around on her plate with a fork, trying not to draw attention to herself.

“Perhaps one day, once you’ve gotten enough missions under your belt, people will be willing to wait for you. Until then remember that’s even with my illness, I’d pick you apart in seconds.”

A wave of cold washed over him, immediately followed by prickly heat. He felt like Jian and Sayogoromo were teaming against him. Isaac glared across the table, his jaw slack in anger. He knew it was true. As a human, he would be struck down quickly unless Incana decided to cooperate. Even still, his chances would be slim- he’d seen Sayogoromo in action and the years of practice were apparent. Put him in his place. Incana screeched, making him wince. We can take him. Do it. Take him down. Isaac gripped his fork so tightly it began to bear into his skin, shaking slightly.

The swelling impulse to start throwing punches was interrupted by the sound of a chair scooting next to him.

"I'm sorry. I'm Irvi. Hi?"

The sound of the chair scraping on the floor as she gave him space pushed him over the edge. “Oh- no no Irvi. I’m sorry. Do you not have enough space? Here-” he scoured his chair obnoxiously again the tile, creating even more space between them. “Is that enough room for you? God forbid, our elbows might brush while you’re eating your dinner.” Isaac was too pissed about Jian and Sayogoromo to notice he was greatly overreacting, or that the whole situation was his fault to begin with.
