Miyamoto did say Mario was going to have a prominent speaking role. I think Chris Pratt's voice would be easier to understand in regular conversation compared to Martinet's high pitched Italian accent.
I wish they'd hired a different organization than Illumination Entertainment for production tho. Fingers crossed this is more like Despicable Me than.....

Knowing Nintendo's track record with first party franchises in movies, as well as Illumination's track record in general, I'd be surprised if it were 6/10 or higher.
Seriously, if Disney could get Bowser in Wreck-It Ralph, I see no reason why they couldn't make it themselves. The funny part is that Disney had that remake game with the Miis in today's Direct too lmao
